Interesting Monster High design things that are never explicitly stated:
* Unlicensed vampires are all some type of pink-skinned for some reason, including related species like the manananggal
* Clawdeen, and by extension, other werewolves, never wear silver metals, because that weakens them. The Wolfs only wear gold jewelry and accents.
* Lagoona's sporty theme aligns with the use of mesh fabrics to make a pun about fishnets
* Wydowna Spider's hairline is a widow's peak and one of her hands is in Spider-Man's web-slinging shape
* Twyla's eyes glow in the dark on most editions--common knowledge, but Mattel has never told buyers about it on her boxes!
* Twyla is a boogeyman and her costume designs all feature antique architectural details and imagery of things that might be in a scary bedroom at night, like wallpaper patterns, doorknobs, bugs, and beds, while her outfits often resemble pajamas
* The two G1 pop star characters are a witch and a black cat, and a witch and cat were also a Create-A-Monster duo
* The Grant sisters' monster twist on genies is to make them plated like desert scorpions
* Elissabat's face is deliberately highly similar to Draculaura's, but their sculpts have been determined to be different--this when MH has used shared sculpts for more distant-looking and disparate pairs of characters!
* The Blob and Ice Girls are a Create-A-Monster duo because freezing was the one weakness of the Blob monster
* Deuce and Cleo as a couple invoke the synergy of snakes and Egyptian culture, the famous Cleopatra being Greek, and Cleopatra being stated in legend to have died by snakebite--similar reasons a mummy and Gorgon were paired in the Create-A-Monster sets
* Operetta is from New Orleans because it's a uniquely French area of the USA, tying her into the original setting of the Phantom of the Opera
* Viperine Gorgon has distinct visual hallmarks of both human and serpent albinism, and her use of sunglasses could correspond with sensitive eyes from the condition, though she's never stated to have the condition in any material.
* Great Scarrier Reef's transformations: Electric-powered Frankie became an electric eel, Draculaura became a vampire squid, and tigerlike Toralei became a lionfish. I've heard Clawdeen was based on a wolffish, but can't be sure that was actually clear. Gil turning into a ray may be a pun with manta and manster? No idea if Lagoona was based on a specific fish or not. Nor why she even had to transform in her native territory for any reason beyond making a new doll.
* Bonita Femur's color palette is based on the rosy maple moth, which is as implausibly candy-colored as Bonita. Luna Mothews is absolutely not actually a luna moth, but could be loosely based on the cecropia moth, the largest in North America and found in regions that could include New Jersey where she and the Mothman are from. Her yellow exoskeleton also loosely resembles the hornet moth, but may not intentionally be based on it.
* Mouscedes King, Luna Mothews, and Elle Eedee are a primary yellow/red/blue trio but also a past/present/future trio based on an old fairy tale, a current cryptid legend, and a speculative idea of future tech
* Headmistress Bloodgood's first name was eventually revealed to be Nora, an iconically Irish name that may have been chosen to liken Bloodgood to the Irish folklore of the dullahan, another "headless rider" monster.
* River Styxx is a young-adolescent Grim Reaper ghost who is partially translucent, revealing bones in her limbs and having a more opaque face that looks like thin skin over a bony structure. This creates a fun possible worldbuilding idea that reapers start as ghosts with skin and it fades as they develop, becoming full skeletons in classic Death style when mature.
* Peri and Pearl are conjoined Hydra sisters, obviously reflecting a rare human scenario of conjoined twins through the Hydra monster concept, but also possibly being influenced by the animal phenomenon of snakes being born with two heads in an even Y-shaped structure.
* Elle has a separate sculpted panel on her hip where her factory stamp is placed, canonizing the real-world manufacturing artifact as a real/literal/diegetic feature on the manufactured robot character.
Tumblr media
* Corazón Marikit's red fringe blends the two halves of her outfit, but also stands in for the gorier imagery of dangling intestines and entrails when the manananggal monster's body splits at the waist. She does have a spine coming out of her upper torso as the peg that clicks her pieces together, but the dolls aren't brutally gory, so her costume alludes to the folklore's more extreme imagery in a graceful way.

ACADEMY LOG, DATE: XX/XX/20XX. SUBJECT: GAEA TERMINOLOGY
The Creator
• The God of this world. Created all the magic and species hence their namesake. Rumour has it that they have a human form that resembles a person with an indeterminable gender and a red and blue beanie
Gaea
• The name given to Earth in this world. The main difference that Gaea has compared to Earth is the large abundance of magic Gaea has to offer thanks to The Creator
Spirit
• A part of a person’s soul that allows them to cast magic. Magic can range from summoning animals or ghosts, creating things from thin air, or just the usual elements like Fire and Water
Mana
• Energy that a person uses to cast magic. If they run out of Mana, a person will have to rest to recharge it
Mages
• A human subspecies that has a strong connection to one certain element and excel in it. On a rare occasion, mages can have a strong connection to multiple elements with said elements having connection to one another. A Mage’s mana and stamina are linked together, so if a mage runs out of mana, they also run out of stamina and vice-versa. A mage’s hair changes depending on specific occasions, making them spottable in a crowd of humans.
Elementals
• A subspecies that have a physical appearance that resembles a certain element shaped to look like a human. Elementals can also transform into an almost human-like form, with the exception of their hair resembling their born element. Magic-wise, Elementals are most efficient at the same element they’re born as, have a boost in certain abilities like strength, speed, or agility depending on what it is, and have an unlimited amount of mana since it’s how their physical appearance is held together.
Merlings
• Merfolk that have evolved to transform into a more humanlike form, whilst still retaining some merfolk traits
Angels and Demons
• Species that were both created by The Creator with opposing ideals. They were at war with one another for millennia until The Creator intervened during the war’s final battle. Nowadays they’re in a comfortable truce, but some angels and demons still hate each other cuz shit ain’t always perfect lol.
Other notable species
• As a fantasy-esque world, there are other notable species from various folklores and myths like sirens, shapeshifters, animal hybrids, fairies, kitsunes/kumiho, selkies, and even androids.
Entities
• Creatures that take the form of blobs or ungodly fusions between two or more animals. They hate any species that isn’t its own and are extremely lethal.
NHP
• A group in the thousands that consists of humans that detest Non-Human races that have spirit within them. These people are one of the main reasons as to why certain non-humans like Dylan & Kai still reside underwater, as a way to hide from NHP agents that hunt their kind.
Academies
• Where people in their youths train to practice their magic. Basically a cooler alternative to high school, but the minimum age for someone to attend an academy is 16
Arcana City
• The main setting of this story. A small village turned bustling high-tech metropolis city thanks to the evolution of magic and technology. Arcana Academy is placed in the heart of the city and is the current home of my OCs. Geographically, Arcana City is located in Ontario, Canada.
Elements
• Certain species can be born connected to one or more elements (if they have some sort of connection to one another). These include species like Mages, Kitsunes, Elementals and Fairies. The elements in my OC world take inspiration from a majority of games, cartoons, and anime; which include The Owl House, Avatar, The Last Airbender (and Legend of Korra by proxy), Elemental Battlegrounds, Pokémon, etc.
Fire, Water, Nature, Air, Electricity, Earth, Ice, Acid, Crystal, Metal, Lava, Slime, Mind, Light, and Dark are all explainable but there are also 6 other elements that need a bit more explaination
Sound Element • Manipulating the volume of certain sounds, mimicking sounds, and also controlling things and items via sound. Similar to Bard Magic from The Owl House
Animal Element • The ability to talk to animals and summon animals and other fantasy creatures. Similar to Beastkeeping Magic from The Owl House
Creation Element • Creating items and weapons from thin air. Creation can be infused with other elements to make created items more powerful. Similar to the Creation Element from Elemental Battlegrounds
Technology Element • A more futuristic and modern element. The manipulation of Technology to hack machines and summons tech related items as spells and attacks. Similar to the Technology Element from Elemental Battlegrounds
Soul Element • The ability to see and communicate to souls, exorcise souls and also straight up necromancy. The Element also entails using your full soul to cast magic and to boost your abilities, which can be enhanced if you have a soulmate. Similar to the Spirit Element from Elemental Battlegrounds and Klaus Hargreeves’ Powers from The Umbrella Academy
Angel/Demon Element • Elements relegated to Angels and Demons respectively. They’re the only people with the ability to exorcise Entities and can also summon ghosts of the deceased similarly to people that cast the Soul Element. Similar to the Angel and Reaper Elements from Elemental Battlegrounds.

47, 44, 38 for the ahit of questions
47. Explain the design decisions that you made when coming up with your OC's design.
Well, Jaide’s design is similar to Moonjumper’s and that was my basis for a lot of it. Similar mask, funky thing going on with one eye, etc. I don’t remember much from designing her.
The Outlander’s design has changed a lot over the years. The shadow creature vibe was still the same, but he used to be a little floating blob. I think it was better to make him more humanoid.
As for Ichor, they’re based off both the Outlander (since they’re a similar species) and Jaide (lore reasons).
And Karmin? I wanted her to look a lot like Vanessa :) They aren’t related. I just wanted to create fun parallels.
44. Are there certain gestures or quirks your character might make when speaking? Any specific body language they often exhibit or habits they have? (An example of a gesture could be speaking with their hands or putting their hands together and body language could be shrugging or often avoiding eye contact or tilting their head when asking a question, ect.)
Jaide has a lot of little habits. When she’s flustered or anxious, she avoids eye contact. When she’s especially nervous or distressed, she’ll pick at her bandages.
Both the Outlander and Ichor can’t sit still ever. They have habits of twitching their ears/horns, flicking their tails, etc.
Karmin likes to make a lot of hand gestures while she speaks. Counting on her fingers, rolling her wrist, just dramatic gestures, etc.
38. What are the languages that they can communicate in?
Karmin can only speak English.
Jaide speaks English mainly, but ghosts have their own language. Ghost language is hard to describe. Normally it’s telepathic, since some “words” and “phrases” deal with things intangible and incomprehensible to the living. So when it’s spoken aloud, it sounds quite foreign to the mortal ear. If that makes sense…?
Devils and demons are above language, so they can theoretically speak anything. However, English is most convenient for the setting. They also have their own language, but again, it’s mostly silent.

9, 16, and 32 for the ask game! ~ roulettesys [Lucky]
9. does your system have system members who age slide or age regress?
yup. most of us do, actually. we experience age as more as a feeling than a number, so virtually everyone age slides. tbf tho, they aren’t very large gaps (17 to 19, 18 to 23, 7 to 11, 5 to 9… etc)
if you mean specifically to a way smaller form, then i guess cody does? he rarely appears as an adult in his late twenties, but his regular form is a fifteen year old. doesn’t really change how he acts though.
16. what system member is the strangest species?
we have a few atypical species: vampire, vocaloid, mermaid, moth shifter slash cryptid, angels, ghosts, hybrids… the weirdest one has to be a tie between misery and umbra.
misery, aka xey who will not be named, is a living shadow. its hard to get xem under control cus of it. xey can shapeshift, ignore blocks, whisper to current fronters when not being close to front, and even influence physical actions to pull ppl close to front (mainly persecutors)
umbra is… nothing. literally nothing. its like a giant static mass / blob that is insanely eloquent for god knows what reason. its like a presence but also… not? like you know someone is there but you can’t see shit. they have a staticky or scribbled appearance if it pushes themself to take on a human form.
32. which system member has the most based takes? [for current fronter]
two of us are here rn, so we’ll both answer:
❤️ (kris) — dunno, tbh. id say ella, aspen or silas. ella can be over critical but she has solid takes. aspen is chill asf & crazy artistic. silas is based af. dude likes cursed images. we both scroll r/diwhy and r/stupidfoods. we are the same person. /j
🪻(imogen) — mmm… honestly? ana. im also in the 12-16 slide range but she’s usually younger than me. still, she’s got some solid takes (endo-neutral/positive, pro-good faith identities, anti-anything that’s harmful to a real life person/animal). so yeah. might be biased here cus we’re so similar, but she’s based.
❤️ (kris) — thx for the ask 👍

Ghost Taxonomy!!!
Okay, so you know the taxonomic classification system??? Like, this thing, where the genus and species make up the scientific name of an organism:
Tumblr media
(This diagram and all the other diagrams that’ll be on here are made by me so sorry if they’re messy!!!) (Picture transcript: downward triangle split into eight sections, labelled (in descending order): domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.)
Huge Huge Huge credit to @its-rat-time-babey for this idea, because it's so cool and the concepts in that post hugely inspired some of my own takes on this- this being a taxonomic system for ghosts as well as humans!!!!! I'm gonna be referencing both kinds of taxonomy here, so we’ll call the ghost one ‘phasma-defined taxonomy’ just to differentiate!!! :D
There are only seven categories in phasma-defined taxonomy because there’s not really a kingdom category equivalent (which is the one to do with animals, plants, fungi, etc.), since it’s sort of covered in other sections, but we’ll go into the categories themselves now with a diagram!!
Tumblr media
(Image Transcript: Diagram is labelled ‘Phasma-Defined Taxonomy’. The diagram is a downward triangle split into seven sections, labelled (in descending order): formation, origin, composure, state, subsistence, denomination, and temperament.)
Alrighty, now that we’ve got a thing with them all on, here’s what they mean, and what makes up each category!!!
(Explanations + examples under cut!!)
Formation: Basically just how much of a ghost they are?? It’s barely used as a category because obviously the majority are full ghosts, but with the existence of halfas, and mediums (who carry just enough ectoplasmic content to survive in the GZ’s atmosphere/be recognised as an ectoplasmic entity), it has to be taken into account. The sections in this category are, as mentioned before: full ghost, halfa, and medium!!
Origin: How they came to be!! There are only two sections to this category, being natural, and post-Eukarya. Natural just means that they were never a living thing, and were created purely from the GZ’s energy (or another ghost’s if we’re getting into Ghost Procreation™). Eukarya refers to a part of the Domain section of the normal classification system (which we’re calling ‘Sapien-Defined Taxonomy’ just to make it easier to differentiate), and short-hand it just means that the organism- multi celled or single- contains a nucleus. Post-Eukarya then means that they used to be made up of cells that had nuclei, but because ectoplasmic cells lack a nucleus (a thought I have about ectoplasm’s properties that I’ll maybe talk about at some point!!!), they don’t anymore!!! So, yeah, there’s natural and post-eukarya.
Composure: Composure is their sentience, and this comes in three sections!!! Sentient, non-sentient, and simplified!!! The definition of sentient is “Having a faculty, or faculties, of sensation and perception/Experiencing sensation or feeling”, and then obviously ones in the non-sentient composure lack that!! Simplified is basically a weird spot between, in that they might kind of have a capacity for feeling (or, more specifically, they’re made of a feeling), but they don’t really have sense perception at all- like, certain kinds of ‘blob ghost’ can be comprised of a certain emotion, but they’re not really things that think??? Just an emotion that has a form and sometimes a face, if that makes sense.
State: Fairly standard- just what state of matter they are!!! You’ve got solid, gaseous, and subliming!!! Solid and gaseous are pretty self-explanatory- just ghosts who exist exclusively in that state of matter- but subliming ghosts can go between either state!!! (Ghosts/ectoplasm don’t have a liquid state, because the solid state already really weird but still a solid?? The closest it gets to being an actual liquid is just. Weird clumps. If I figure out how to word this better I’ll talk about it but rn please please just go with me on this lmao!!!)
Subsistence: Subsistence refers to how they regain energy!!! The two categories here are ambient and active!! Ambient just means that their body absorbs the ectoplasm in the air automatically without any effort on their part, and active just means that they have to consume/ingest ectoplasm and/or other forms of energy in some way in order to get it into their system!!
Denomination: This is where we get into the more nuanced categories of phasma-defined taxonomy!!! Denomination just refers to what kind of ghost they are, with examples like shades, wraiths, banshees, and poltergeists all being different denominations!! There are a lot more than this though!!!!
Temperament: This is probably the broadest category out of all of them, which is why it’s at the bottom, but it’s also easy to understand, since it literally just refers to cores!!! Not going to list every option, but examples include: ice, fire, and electricity!!! There are a ton of different types of core, and the way they’re externalised can vary wildly between even same core-types, so it can be hard to properly pin down temperament, but it’s also an important one, so there’s a reason it’s here!!
Their classification is based on their denomination+temperament- like how they’re based off genus+species for the Sapien-defined taxonomy!!!
Right!!! We’ve got the explanations, so now for some examples!!! We’ll start with Vlad just because he’s fun!!!! Here’s what his classification looks like!!!
Tumblr media
(Image Transcript: Downward triangle split into seven sections, labelled (in descending order): halfa, post-eukarya, sentient, solid, ambient, revenant, fire. Vlad is labelled a ‘fire revenant’.)
And just for the sake of it, here’s two more examples!!! Spectra!!
Tumblr media
(Image Transcript: Downward triangle split into seven sections, labelled (in descending order): full ghost, post-eukarya, sentient, subliming, active, obake, plasma. Spectra is labelled a ‘plasma obake’.)
And a Danny just for fun (and also so I can mention how much I love him being a banshee)
Tumblr media
(Image Transcript: Downward triangle split into seven sections, labelled (in descending order): halfa, post-eukarya, sentient, solid, ambient, banshee, ice. Danny is labelled an ‘ice banshee’.)
As for whether or not some ghosts make use of Sapien-defined taxonomy??? They do!!! It’s particularly useful for  post-eukaryotic ‘animal ghosts’ like Cujo, because sometimes their denomination can be kind of hard to pin down, so it’s just easier to refer to them through their living classification!!! Like, you couldsay that Cujo’s a Grim, but you don’t really know on first glance and not every dog ghost is a Grim, so if you can just say ‘he’s a dog’ then you circumvent the issue (it’s still good to know though)!!!!
And there we have it!!!! That’s pretty much all I have to say about it, but if you have any questions or just want to talk about it more, please do!!! I absolutely love this sort of stuff even if I’m not like. An expert on it lmao!!! I’m kinda working on the stuff about ectoplasm as a substance atm, so hopefully I’ll actually post that at some pint because I have Thoughts™ lmao!! Either way, have a good day!! :D
(Post about ectobiology/ghost anatomy is up now that has some expansion on ghost post-eukaryoticism + some other stuff if you're interested!!!! Here it is!!!)

Ghost classifications:
Ghosts have their own forms of taxonomic ranks used to identify different ghost species.
For anyone that doesn’t know what a taxonomic rank is, it’s basically a bunch of different labels in a specific order from most vague to least vague used to identify different types of animals.
Tumblr media
The lower the rank is, the more specific the results are. (The species rank in the image (Vulpes vulpes) is only given to Red foxes, While the domain rank (Eukarya) is given to just about every single multicellular organism on earth.)
Ghosts have their own basic version that goes:
Origin -> species -> core.
The power level of the ghost is sometimes used as optional extra data, but isn’t a real taxonomic rank because a ghost’s power level can change over time.
A ghosts origin can explained using this chart.
Tumblr media
Human-born ghosts originally lived in the human world and came to the ghost zone after they died.
Zone-born ghosts were either created by the zone itself or were birthed from another ghost.
Sentient ghosts are ghosts with a human level of intelligence or greater.
Animalistic ghosts are ghosts with the same level of intelligence as an animal.
Skulker, for example, is a Sentient Zone-Born ghost, While Cujo is classified as an Animalistic Human-Born ghost.
A ghosts species is just what type of ghost they are. This could range from Poltergeists to Wraiths, Demons, phantoms, banshees and a couple hundred more.
Skulker, for another example, is classified as a type of blob ghost.
A ghosts core is just what type of core they have. Simple as that.
Using Skulker as yet another example, his full classification is: Sentient zone-born -> blob -> fire.
Clockwork’s full classification is: Sentient zone-born -> ancient-> time.
A blob ghost would be: Animalistic zone-born -> blob -> Coreless.
Danny’s is: Sentient human-born -> banshee -> ice.
Vlad is: Sentient human-born -> demon -> fire.
Shadow is: Animalistic Zone-born -> shadow -> shadow.
Pariah dark is: Sentient zone-born -> primordial -> [UNKNOWN]
Fright knight is: Sentient human-born -> pseudo-ancient -> fire.

Hunters and Halfas got me thinking. Is the Ghost Zone like Limbo? Are ghosts aware of the other afterlives? What do ghosts think when their living relatives die and then DON’T show up in the GZ?
Tumblr media
Someone asked, so it's a PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE TIME TO GEEK OUT AND OVERSHARE MY WORLDBUILDING!!!
Yes, the Ghost Zone is like Limbo! Or a little more like Purgatory, in the Supernatural setting. It's its own dimension separate from Heaven, Hell, and Earth. It has a proper name, but that name is old, so old that it's fallen out of use. Now, most residents simply call it the Ghost Zone. It's only the oldest of ghosts that remember its true title.
(I will share it eventually. I'm just waiting for the proper moment for best dramatic effect.)
It's relatively rare for humans to become residents of the Ghost Zone after death. It only happens under specific conditions. The person must have come into contact with a significant amount of GZ energy, aka ectoplasm. This usually happens due to the person living near a thin spot between dimensions or a natural portal to the Zone. They also have to have a certain level of... let's call it emotional intensity, either built through their lifetime or at the moment of their death. This emotion is what interacts with the ectoplasm, and along with the person's soul, creates a ghost. Without significant ecto exposure, emotionally laden deaths just create Supernatural-style ghosts that stay in the human world. There's nothing that ties them to the GZ.
This accounts for a relatively small amount of the GZ's population. Think people like Ember, Poindexter, and Desiree. We know for a fact that they were human before they became ghosts. It's possible that people like Technus and the Box Ghost are this type of ghost as well, but it's up for debate given the lack of canon background on the characters.
Other GZ residents are created by intense emotion itself without the soul being present. This usually forms something like a blob ghost: small, weak, dubiously sentient. Others are embodiments of human desires or ideals, like Skulker being the embodiment of hunting. Or sometimes human ideas will just get imprinted onto ectoplasm given enough time and exposure, which is how mythical characters and creatures like Pandora (and the various mythical creatures we see throughout the show) end up there. They may be changed somewhat from the original human idea, but basically? Human emotions interact with ectoplasm. Give enough emotion and thought to something, and it will probably exist in some way, shape, or form in the Zone, given enough ectoplasm in the mix.
Then there are the zone-born ghosts. These are the ones like the yetis of the Far Frozen that were never a part of the human world, and have been in the GZ for all of their existence.
As for awareness of other afterlives.... ghosts are aware that not all humans end up in the Zone after they die. How much more than that they know and believe varies highly from ghost to ghost.
----
That's the end of the ideas. Here are my acknowledgments/bibliography:
Some of the ideas for human-born vs zone-born ghosts came from here:
This is not an exhaustive list of ideas, and I highly doubt I will come up with an exhaustive list. Shout out to @floralflowerpower for all her amazing ideas that have helped shape mine into what they are. She has some really great sciencey type thoughts about it all, too, which is fun!
I kinda got off track in this, but I hope you enjoyed my rambling!

I made my own Monster Challenge for #Drawloween/#Inktober this year.
I’m gonna try to do all of these for October but this year’s gonna be busy as usual. BUT this is the written, classic dA version I’m gonna be trying, which has some different places and options:
Draw a “Classic monster”. You know the ones: Blobs, Hairy Beasts, Eyeball weirdos...think Monster’s Inc.
Draw a Were-creature. Werewolves are preferred, but any half-man-half-animal shapeshifting beast will do.
Draw a Demon. Don’t like Demons? Draw an Angel! They’re technically monsters too when you think about it.
Draw the Undead. Anything from Ghost to Zombie or somewhere in between will do.
Draw a Witch, Spellmeister, Warlock, or Sorceress. Draw a magical (maybe super powerful even) humanoid with varying degrees of monstrous features.
Draw a Vampire. Or two.
Draw an alien. It’s the only kind of “monster” that almost certainly exists in the universe.
Draw a Monster-in-the-Closet, i.e. a Boogieman, Shadow-Person, or anyone/thing you’d see out the corner of your eye as a child (sleep paralysis demons are welcomed).
Draw your favorite “Type” of monster, be it blood-sucker, shapeshifter, or revenant.
Draw a Monster of your own invention. Try to make it as original as possible. It can be a singular monster or a monster species, but YOU have to be the one to come up with it.
Draw your favorite Yokai (Onryo, Yurei, ect). There’s lots to choose from!
Draw your favorite creepy Fair-folk from world mythology. Goblins+Elves+Little People also count here, but they have to be of the meaner variety.
Draw your favorite Cryptid or a Monster from an Urban Legend.
Draw a Dragon, be it one you made up, one from the media, or one from mythology.
Draw your favorite Monster from Literature. Humans who become monsters count too.
Draw the scariest Mythological Monster you can think of.
Draw your favorite Movie-Monster. Or Game Monster. Or Television Monster. Make it a monster(s) you’ve seen on the screen!
The Gods must be monstrous...and there's lots of scary Gods out there. Draw a religious deity (try and make it not TOO offensive to the people of said faith) that could double as a ‘monster’.
Draw an Obscure/Underrated monster from any mythology, legend, or book, that you don’t think gets the love it deserves.
Draw a human monster, I.e. a regular person who’s cruelty could put a monster to shame. (no real life examples please; we don’t stan serial killers here)
Draw some Monsters in Love! HumanxMonster is allowed here too btw!
Draw a Monster at Home, lounging about, enjoying it’s day. Even monsters need a break once in a while.
Vampires aren’t the only Victorians. Draw a monster coexisting/camouflaging with humans from a specific time period. There’s kind of a lot of periods and monsters to choose from, so get creative as you want.
Draw a monster as accurate to its original (be it ‘historical’, literary, or mythological) description as possible.
Draw a monster based on your worst fear(s). It’s good to channel these things.
Draw a Cute monster doing something Horrific. Alternatively, draw a Horrific Monster doing something cute!
Draw a baby Monster or a Monster Family.
Lunchtime! Draw a Monster Eating something (or some one).
It was a Mash! Draw some Monsters dancing and having a party.
Draw a specific monster in one or more particular artists’ styles.
What kind of Monster are you? Draw yourself as a Monster!

Tumblr media
I mean what I said. These things, these forces, they are our fear. Deep fears. Primordial. Always looking for ways to grow and spread.
I always think it helps to imagine them like colours. The edges bleed together, and you can talk about little differences: “oh, that’s indigo, that’s more lilac”, but they’re both purple. I mean, I guess there are technically infinite colours, but you group them together into a few big ones. A lot of it’s kind of arbitrary. I mean, why are navy blue and sky blue both called blue, when pink’s an entirely different colour from red? Y’know? I don’t know, that’s just how it works.
And like colours, some of these powers, they feed into or balance each other. Some really clash, and you just can’t put them together. I mean, you could see them all as just one thing, I guess, but it would be pretty much meaningless, y’know, like… like trying to describe a… shirt by talking about the concept of colour.
Of course, with these things it’s not a simple spectrum, y’know, it’s more like -
An infinite amorphous blob of terror bleeding out in every direction at once.
Sometimes you impulse buy a kid’s rock painting set from Micheal's of all places and end up using it to make sigils for all of the Fears.
Close ups under the cut (also poetic descriptions drawing from my headcanons about the Fears).
Tumblr media
The End. Death. Terminus.
The oldest of all the fears. All other Fears are simply layers separating the fear from it’s source- the fear of death. It was created because of fear, and fear was created because of it. It is the end, the stopping of it all, the force we fight against every day with every breath.
Primary Avatars: The Reapers/Death, The Sybil (Oliver Banks), and The Speaker (”Jane Doe”)
Ritual: It has no need of one, all threads must be cut one day.
Allies: They are all its children.
Tumblr media
The Hunt.
The End’s firstborn. It was born in the time before sapience, when fear was simpler. But that was still enough. It is a fear for animals, of being hunted down and killed, of being prey.
Primary Avatars: The Hunters and predators [mundane].
Ritual: The Everchase
Allies: The Flesh, The Slaughter, The Desolation, and The Eye.
Enemies: The Vast and The Buried.
Tumblr media
The Vast. The Falling Titian.
The child of The End and the twin of The Buried. It began as an animal’s fear, of the fall that shatters your bones of the sea you cannot cross for it is not yours. But with sapience, it evolved. It is falling, heights, lighting, and the Not Yours that surrounds Yours. But also a human’s own insignificance and the true emptiness of the world. It is too much space.
Primary Avatars: The Fairchild family and The Lightning’s (Michael Crew).
Ritual: The Awful Deep
Allies: The Lonely, The Flesh, The Eye, and The Dark.
Enemies: The Buried.
Tumblr media
The Buried. The Center. Choke. Too Close I Cannot Breathe
The child of The End and the twin of The Vast. It did not evolve as much as its despised sibling. It is suffocation, and the dirt that fills lungs. But with humans, it became more complex, more existential, as it always does. Those brains can find more in caves than suffocation or the dark. While even an animal fears a small space in case they get trapped and fall to a hunter, only humans could create constructs to bind and crush each other with. It is when there is too little space.
Primary Avatars: The Pit and The Gravedigger (Hezekiah Wakely)
Ritual: The Sunken Sky.
Allies: The Lonely, The Dark and the Web.
Enemies: The Vast, The Flesh, The Eye, and The Slaughter.
Tumblr media
The Dark. Mister Pitch. The Forever Blind.
A direct child of The End. The fear of the dark- for it is scary because we cannot know. We cannot see the threats that may hid in its embrace. With the life-giver being a star, it has come to oppose all life and heat. It wishes for blind eyes.
Primary Avatars: The Church of the Divine Host, The Rayner, and the Black Star.
Ritual: The Extinguished Sun.
Allies: The Vast, The Buried, The Stranger, The Spiral, and The Dark.
Enemies: The Eye.
Tumblr media
The Desolation. The Lightless Flame. The Devastation. Blackened Earth.
The End’s child. While it sure does love the destruction aspects of fire, it is not just fear of burning. It is the fear of pain and the fear of loss- of power, possessions, or loved ones. It lacks the motivation of The Hunt or the Flesh and destroys more than just lives, unlike The Slaughter.
Primary Avatars: The Church of the Lightless Flame, The Flame’s Messiah (Agnes Montague), and natural disasters [mundane]
Ritual: The Scoured Earth.
Allies: The Slaughter, The Hunt, and the Buried.
Enemies: The Flesh and The Corruption.
Tumblr media
The Lonely. Forsaken. The One Alone.
The End’s youngest solo child and a fear for humans alone. It is the complex webs of society on top of a simple fact- you need the pack to survive. Not to mention that the simple physical brains of humans abhor isolation as well. Isolation, both emotional and physical, strip away one’s mental and physical wellbeing and often driving them to drugs. And simple physical isolation will strip away one’s connection to reality itself, so The Lonely feasts on that unraveling mind just aware enough to fear the fall.
Primary Avatars: The Luckas family.
Ritual: The Forsaken.
Allies: The Buried, The Vast, and The Spiral.
Tumblr media
The Flesh. The Meat.
The child of The Hunt and its successor. It is a fear for animals, but those that never know freedom or a game to try to escape. Their path is set, they are the animals raised and slaughtered by humans for meat, with no risk to themselves. They are to be eaten their flesh in a form unconnected to their own appearance, consumed by those who know not how to prepare them. While humans are not raised like that, their separation from The Hunt makes them quiver at the idea of being consumed in any form. With all their knowledge in this era, humans are coming to understand that they may be no different than animals- just organic molecules animated by electricity. The Flesh also feasts on that philosophizing.
Primary Avatars: The Eurachist [mundane] and slaughterhouse workers [mundane].
Ritual: The Last Feast.
Allies: The Hunt, The Corruption, The Desolation, The Stranger, and The Spiral.
Enemies: The Slaughter and The Buried.
Tumblr media
The Slaughter. Violence. War
The child of The Desolation and The Hunter. It the anticipation of uncertain violence. It is violence that isn’t committed for the direct benefit of the murder and/or specifically because of the victim. It is found in both frenzied killers and in the steely, impersonal murder of armies. It rules over all the fear that comes from war, and eats heartily from all the conflicts humans keep creating all by themselves.
Primary Avatars: War Ghosts, The Piper/War, and soldiers [mundane].
Ritual: The Risen War.
Allies: The Desolation, The Hunter, and The Web.
Enemies: The Flesh and the Buried.
Tumblr media
The Eye. The Beholding. Ceaseless Watching.
The Hunter’s least favorite child. An animal fears being watched because it means a predator may be observing, but humans have taken that fear as an end onto itself. It is watching, recording, and servailing. It feasts on the scraps of other Fears, reliving the trauma of their victims.
Primary Avatars: The Archive (The Magnus Institute), The Archivist (Jonathan Sims), and The Heart (Elias Bouchard)
Ritual: The Watcher’s Crown
Allies: The Web and The Hunt.
Enemies: The Dark, The Stranger, and The Spiral.
Tumblr media
The Stranger. I Do Not Know You.
The child of The Dark, sapience extending the unknown to the other. It is the fear of what is not quite human. But the fear of the humans that are not quite you? Humans spend so much time creating reasons and convincing others to fear eachother. So much mundane fear of the other exists that The Stranger could survive on that alone.
Primary Avatars: The NotThem/dopplegangers, The Circus of the Other, The Deliverers, and bigots [mundane].
Ritual: The Unknowing.
Allies: The Dark and The Spiral.
Enemies: The Eye.
Tumblr media
The Spiral. The Twisting Deceit, Esmentiaras, It Is Not What It Is.
The Dark’s other child, for one cannot know if one cannot trust their senses. It is the fear of madness, of unreality. It induces this fear by warping reality, leading its victims to believe they are the ones at fault.
Primary Avatars: The Distortion (once Micheal, now Helen Richardson) and The Worker in Clay (”Gabriel”).
Ritual: Our Great Twisting.
Allies: The Dark, The Stranger, The Web and The Flesh.
Enemies: The Eye.
Tumblr media
The Corruption. Filth. Crawling Rot.
The child of The Flesh (but born before The Flesh) and The End. It is a collection of things that are unrelated in reality (bugs, rotten food, poison, mold, decay, and disease), but are associated in the mind of humans lacking knowledge- death without a clear cause and corpses.
Primary Avatars: The Hive (Jane Prentiss) and Pestilence (John Amherst).
Ritual: Unknown.
Allies: The Flesh and The Web.
Enemies: The Desolation.
Tumblr media
The Web. The Spider. Mother of Puppets.
The child of The Corruption and The Buried. It is the fear of being restrained, but in a more metaphorical sense than The Buried. It is the fear of manipulation, being controlled, and that your will is not your own. And, from its other parent, spiders.
Primary Avatars: The Binding Table, The Spider Horde, and The Patriarch (Raymond Fielding).
Ritual: This world is almost identical to the Web’s, so why bother?
Allies: The Corruption, The Spiral, The Eye, and The Slaughter, The Lonely, The Buried, and The Dark.
Enemies: The Flesh and The Lonely (their relationship is complicated).
Tumblr media
The Extinction. The Terrible Change. The Future-Without-Us.
The child of The Stranger and The End, this Fear is still emerging. It developing as humans confront their old hubris about the end times. It is the end of the world, but with no holy rapture. It is an end that isn’t the end of all life, just the end of them. It is the fear of being replaced by another species. It is the fear of how they will ruin themselves. It is the collapse or radical change of society. It is taking all forms of change from the dominions of the other Fears and bringing it into its own.
Primary Avatars: The emergence of true AI [mundane], climate change [mundane], and nuclear weapons [mundane].
Ritual: Many theorize that it seeks to end the world as it is known and replace humans with another sapient species to begin the cycle again.
Allies: The Stranger and The Desolation.
Enemies: Many avatars seek to disrupt its emergence as it would shatter the balance between the powers. They also fear the possibility that The Extinction wouldn’t repopulate the world with a new sapience species right away, setting them back eons.

Hey there!
New to Monster High? There’s a lot of different species--I’ll do my best to list what I remember. (If I miss any my followers are more than welcome to add to this!)
“Frankenstein’s monsters” (though only one in the original series and two in the reboot)
 Vampires
Werewolves
mummies
sea monsters
zombies
various types of ghosts (including faceless ghosts and the daughter of the phantom of the opera and the daughter of the grim reaper)
abominable snow monsters (though only one)
gorgons
freshwater monsters
werecats
sugar skulls/calaveras (is that the right term?)
gargoyles
dragons (specifically a chinese dragon character)
mermaids
an automaton/steampunk android
a steampunk cyborg/half-fairy
a higher-tech android
daughter of a bigfoot
a jekyll/hyde character
a “white vampire bat” character which is actually different from a normal vampire
daughter of the Loch Ness monster
a dear spirit
various plant monsters (venus, Amanita)
a cyclops
a minataur
Djinnis/genies
daughter of the bogeyman
invisible men” characters
a banshee
trolls
a witch
daughter of the blob
there’s one fire elemental character and a character who was theorized to be at least part ‘bone elemental’ before Mattel moved her to Ever After High
daughter of the Mothman
daughter of the Mouse King (a weremouse maybe?)
daughter of the kraken (kind of a mersquid)
daughter of Poseidon (essentially a mermaid)
daughters of the hydra
daughter of the honey island swamp monster
daughter of the golden hind
a living voodooo doll There are also a lot of background characters and characters seen in the create-a-monster line like skeletons, a monster with an eyeball for a head, an ice elemental and a bee-type-monster.  There’s also a ghoul who appears in the last original webisode released and I can’t for the life of me remember her name or species The reboot also has a couple other monster types but they weren’t ever really labeled and I really don’t like the reboot so I don’t really count those characters...? Apart from Alivia but even then only my interpretation of her. Someone let me know if I missed one!

so, there are 4 types of species that live together in a collective society in this universe, these names are probably bad but i don't got any better ones lmao, Anis, Cors, Spips, and Murs (omg even typing these names makes me wanna say wtf is this aloud 😂) now lemme explain these species so things make a little sense! The City consists of a number of beings, ranging from more Robo humanoids to normal-looking people with peaked skills Anis-(like sun and moon) animatronic citizens with a soul and are basically like humans with their own equivalent to living, love, death, vital organs, and even blood. Cors-(like spring trap) Usually are not a citizen and are either a Spip that came back in another form or an ani who has experienced their equivalent of death but came back from the dead (ooh sppokyy). These people in particular are usually a higher class or upped to be mayor/ somebody very important for the city. Spips-(Like Elizabeth, Michael, or Evan) are beings who were the unfortunate anis/murs that didn't get a second chance like the cors, but instead they are more spirit-like beings (spooks ooh hoo) that full of energy that basically keeps the city itself alive (yes the city is also sentient shh shh ill get to thatt). Their raw chakra and energy feed the city and keeps the power and basic electricity going, and are also responsible for bringing back people with said energy as well, whether on purpose of not. Like, if they're in the same room as a anis or a mur, their energy connects to the dying soul and jumps it, like a car with jumper cables attached to a battery basically. They technically arent alive so they aren't citizens, but they are very much existent. (ik these bitches got sm more lore than the rest of these other species on here but- shh >:( ) they usually cannot be seen straight out walking around and stuff, they usually are attached to something like an object they were close to in their lively hood. (okay okay long story short they're ghosts with battery powers lmaoo) Murs- (Like y/n and vennessa) These are the closest thing to humans in this universe, but what differentiates them from a normal human is that they usually have a heightened ability in a certain thing. that can be ranging from super strength or like telekinesis (which is cool and scary). These are either a passed down trait or they have extensive training of both the mind and the body to strengthen one thing (i cannot stress enough it is only one thing they can have. ONE. we cant have an op strong guy with the ability to catch shit on fire with his brain running around the city, that would be a disaster for poor sun, moon, and the police😂😂) and these abilities are limited, these abilities have to be something a normal human can do but maxed out. for example, a person can be strong, a person can see, hear, and run. anything that a human can't do, like become stretchy and catch on fire on command and stuff like that cant happen with a mur. But a mur can tap into something they all have to make their specific power actually maxed out, its similar to the ghost batteries of spips but they can only benefit from it. they can tap into their inner energies and move the energy to their ability or where the ability resides, like their eyes or their legs. But this is super tricky to do and could cause them to, uh, you know, die- Annd finally, the city is alive bc its the blob from security breach!! Well, sorta- the blob is kinda like the city's roots, literally. its robo tentacle things can stretch as long as five blocks all over the underground of the city. it's the heart and the vital organ of the city and the people who live there. so without blobby boy the place would turn into a wasteland. It feeds off of the raw energy spips make and that is basically the only thing keeping the place alive. The blob doesn't include circus baby and here's why... Circus baby and Elizabeth merged souls to make something equivalent to a god- (yeah, crazy right?)

Srry but not srry for breaking the wholesome ships in @starlightcloudbaby 's Detective AU with some tension in Mayor springtrap's office! (this is not canon btw, Ive just been thinking about Who and what vanny and springtrap would be in this au and then I made this soo) Imma leave this little thing in a reblog to explain why a bouncy ball is a child to the raggy rabbit lmao

Headworld/Story Guide
I wrote up this sort of short introduction thingy for my original stories and worlds they happen in, but it got a bit long because there’s just a lot to say about some of them! So it’s under cut!
Ghost Syndrome World
- Setting to Ghost Syndrome, my active webcomic. Main genre is urban fantasy.
- The story focuses around Vivian, a new vampire, and a group of other people tied to magic happenings, set in the fictional town of Hexerkeep in northeast United States.
- Alternative version of our world with secret magic and supernatural stuff like vampires and werewolves and ghosts.
- Normal people don’t know magic exists, and even “magic people” don’t always know much because magic communities are scattered and poorly organized. Several pocket dimension cities exist all over the globe, and even some magic societies outside pocket dimension cities. But a lot of new vampires, werewolves and mages are just left with poor knowledge of what’s going on and might never meet others of their kind.
- Humans are the vastly major sapient species, followed by werewolves and vampires. But werewolves and vampires usually used to be human as well, though both conditions can be gained by other species as well. Werewolves can also be born hereditarily, but vampires can’t. Ghosts, also largely human, don’t count as a sapient species since they aren’t a species, but a state of an individual’s existence.
- There are some non-human sapient species, but their numbers are scarce, and they’re mostly living in pocket dimension cities. None of these species are natural shapeshifters, which hinders them a lot. Several individuals might seek shapeshifting disguises through magic in order to live outside pocket dimension cities.
- There are still a handful of magic animals like griffins and unicorns around, but they’re even rarer than magic folk.
- Dragons were sapient and capable of shapeshifting, but they are extinct, apparently. At least that’s the general consensus.
- Rumor is that fair folk are real, but they rarely interact with people anymore, and live mostly in their own pocket dimension if they are real.
- Demons and angels are real. Demons interact with real world a lot more than angels. There are also other spirits and unclassified supernatural beings that partially exist in the world and partially in pocket dimensions. Demons and such mostly interact with humans to make contracts, offering magic powers and getting stuff like souls in return.
- Potentially used as a setting for other stories too in the future, who knows? Sounds like a vast world.
 Changer World
- Setting to Changer, a comic-to-be I’m working on. I used to call this setting Godrealm before the actual story started settling in. Main genre for this story is fantasy.
- The story focuses around Huuhkaja, who finds out she’s a demigod and has an important mission to fulfil. She sets out on a journey with some allies, forming a nicely balanced RPG party.
- A fantasy world based on Nordic, and especially Finnish mythology. “Timeline-wise” it’s about ancient agrarian culture fantasy Finland, with some bigger cities already formed, but since it’s a fantasy world, it’s not going to be historically accurate. Just the general gist of it. The whole story happens in just this one country, but other countries are hinted to exist.
- The main deal with this world is that gods are alive and real, and directly affect people’s lives, but people’s actions and worship can also directly affect gods.
- There are several spirits, usually directly created by the gods, but sometimes formed by places and natural phenomena. It’s a fairly animistic world.
- Magic is a fairly everyday thing, most people use everyday good luck charms and so on, but only few people can actually actively use magic to do (almost) everything they want. Most villages have at least one magic user. The way magic works in this world is mostly shamanistic, and a lot of magic users have familiars to help them, and use songs and spells. But magic, as a force, is all around people, and doesn’t come from a malevolent or benevolent source. Magic as a force is neutral. Magic users can be any kind of people they want though, from helpful healers to questionable witches.
- Just humans in this world, and spirits and gods. No magic animals or anything. Though, a lot of things can be achieved with magic…
- Currently no plans to include more than this one story in this world.
 Cervid World
- Setting to Cervid, a comic series I mainly draw in 24 hour comic events, because that’s a good excuse to draw something light-hearted. Currently includes three chapters made into zines. Main genre for this one is slice of life, with a comedic take.
- The story revolves around Stan, a deertaur boy who transfers to a new high school and meets a bunch of new friends. Hilarity ensues, perhaps.
- Alternative version of our world with monster people. Your everyday modern day world, just add monsters.
- Humans are the majority of the population, around 60-70 % of people are human, the rest are something else. Non-human sapient species include pretty much any sapient monsters you could think of, more or less human-shaped. Centaurs, harpies, sphinxes, manticores, merfolk, cyclopses and so on, to name a few.
- If it’s a mythological creature and not human-based in any way, chances are it’s an animal in this world. Stuff like griffins, unicorns, wyrms, shishi, qirins, so on.
- There is really no magic in this world. There used to be magic in ancient times, but it has run out. All kinds of weird species were apparently created by magic back in the day.
- The only species that still has magic is dragons, which are sapient, and they can only really spit fire and shapeshift with their magic. Apparently they, as a species, are so ancient that their magic is too deeply entwined in their DNA to just disappear. Some dragons live in human forms, some live more animal-like lives. All are equally sapient.
- There are no other shapeshifters in this world, so no werewolves, vampires, nine-tailed foxes or anything. No magic users either.
- A few generations ago, there was a huge surge of wild magic about in the world, which caused a bunch of people to mutate into non-human species. Back then only around 5-10% of the world’s population was non-humans, but this phenomenon closed the gap to the current numbers. This also helped non-humans finally get full person rights all over the world (they already had those in most countries, fortunately). General consensus is that this was the last burst of magic the world had to offer, but some people speculate there could be another phenomenon like this happening in the future.
- A lot of species can have viable offspring together, but a lot also can’t. Most offspring from this kind of couplings are either the mother’s or the father’s species (like a cyclops and a human having both human and cyclops children), some are slightly hybrid in nature (for example an oni with dragon-like scales)
- Right now only Cervid is set in this world but honestly I could put any kind of stories here since the fate of the world is in no way tied to Stan and his antics. Who knows! Maybe there’s room for more! Modern fantasy is always fun.
 ”Plantings” World
- Setting to Plantings, a short comic I drew for a zine. Currently one-shot, plans for continuation are afoot. Main genre is post-apocalyptic sci-fi, and slice of life.
- The story so far follows Honka, a person with three arms, who rides around post-apocalyptic wastelands with their riding dog, and plants seeds and saplings around, hoping the world will restore itself.
- A post-apocalyptic setting, but it has been so long since the cataclysm that most people don’t really remember it anymore, and things are starting to grow again, but of course they could use a little help. This whole world is supposed to have an “overgrown abandoned place” aesthetic vibe.
- Humans mostly live in underground shelters in this world, but people are starting to move back to the surface now that things aren’t so bad anymore. Right now societies are scattered, but trade routes and contacts are being re-established.
- There are some weird mutations and stuff going on. People can just randomly have green hair and three arms and it’s normal. Horse-sized dogs are normal and specifically bred to be mounts. Most mutations are just weird but not scary and murderous. There might be some sentient blobs of more or less radioactive slime but those are, uh, probably friendly!
- There isn’t definite proof of other sapient species surfacing alongside humans after the cataclysm, just some individual creatures have achieved sapience.
- Some societies might be more effed up but most people are just really chill and honestly want to rebuild the world and get in contact with other humans again. The world was already thrown to chaos once and most people don’t want to see that again.
- The basic idea is very clear, some details need ironing out, but mainly this setting just needs more stories! The starting point is clear and a prologue of sorts has been drawn – I have to figure out what Honka does next! I’m sure they have potential for a lot of adventures..!
- Come to think of it, this project might work as an art book with a series of illustrations and short comics. Hmmm. Endless possibilities!!
 ”Upgrade” World
- Setting to Upgrade, a short comic I drew for a zine. Currently one-shot, hopes for continuation are around! Main genre is sci-fi, and I guess so far slice of life.
- The story so far is about a (currently nameless) robot boy who wants to buy a new head, since his old one is overheating.
- So this is a modern day or near future sci-fi world with robots! Who apparently have full person rights and can buy parts for themselves. A lot of stuff is open-ended right now, but I think robots in this world are basically, at least surface level, treated like humans and do all kinds of things humans do like go to school and have jobs and such. Despite the robot factor, I see this otherwise as a really mundane world right now. - One funny mental image I had though was that robots have more career options than humans in a way, since their AIs can be transferred to all kinds of bodies, so they could, for example, become spaceships when they grow up. Something like that!
- Well, there’s a whole lot I don’t know about this world yet, but! Let’s see if this robot boy gets more adventures. The setting doesn’t really mix with any of my other headworlds though, so it’s gotta be its own world!
Seven Suns World
- Setting to Seven Suns, a story project that’s in the backburner right now because this is a big world in need of heavy worldbuilding, and somehow it’s surprisingly hard for me to focus on. Probably going to be a comic one day, maybe? If I get to work the actual story into some sort of consumable form. Main genre of this story is sci-fi.
- The story revolves around a lovable rag-tag party of space pirates. This story needs about as much work as the world.
- Sci-fi world with seven solar systems, a bunch of habitable planets, and 14 sapient species in total. That’s a. Uh. Lot of work.
- Humans are one sapient species, and then there are 13 different sapient alien species, ranging from “these are kinda like anthro dinosaur cats” to “this species has serpentine body, ten limbs, two mouths and six eyes”.
- A lot of stuff is still up in the air with this one – I am not super knowledgeable about space, and that’s a lot of stuff to research, worldbuilding-wise. However, from a story writing perspective, a whole lot of stuff will absolutely never be touched in the story, so I’m kinda trying to tell myself there’s a whole lot of stuff I could just handwave and be done with. In any case, this one is still in such a mutable, subject-to-change place, and not the highest one on my priority list, so for now that’s just where it’ll be. I think about it occasionally and things will move at their own pace – occasionally.
 I-Don’t-Have-A-Name-For-This-World High Fantasy World
- A setting and world that’s still pretty much up in the air – currently a place I have placed a lot of characters who have lacked a proper place. But I am uncertain whose story I’d want to write, or who the main character should be! Right now I’m leaning towards the story of Six. In either case, this is very much a fantasy world.
- Currently leaning towards the story revolving around Six, a chimera who starts studying magic, and Torpedo, a mercenary she meets. But there could be other stories too! Well, several stories could happen in this world too, it’s a vast world!
- A classic kitchen sink, D&D-esque high fantasy world with humans, elves, orcs, dragons, monsters and magic, all that jazz. Pretty much everything is magical or at least has the potential to be. There’s magic in the air and dirt and water and so on, it’s something you can study, and the strongest wizards can do absolutely ridiculous stuff. There are adventuring parties made up of talking dogs and magically created chimeras can go to magic college. Wild stuff!
- The main building blocks are actually there, it’s a Generic Fantasy World – right now I’m just lacking the stories to put there, or rather, I have way too many ideas! I need to trim it down, maybe make individual stories shorter, and put a bunch of stuff to happen here. A name for the world would of course be nice, so I could call it something else than “generic fantasy world”. In either case, a lot of characters, some more or less connected to each other, already call this world home.
“Spirit World”, “The One With Pyrrhos and Bacchus and co. World”
- The setting I put a couple of characters from a few years back in and started developing, but I ran into a brick wall. Fantasy something.
- Right now the story is about Pyrrhos, a wolf spirit who gets cursed because he did something stupid. And that’s it; I have a starting point, and nothing else. Also another story from this setting is focused on Jin, a shishi statue who comes to life and starts adventuring. But that’s only the starting point, too.
- Something keeps insisting that this is it’s own world with spirits and stuff in a pocket dimension existing liminally with real world, and no other supernatural elements. But that’s as far as that goes, too.
- The few characters from this world will probably be assimilated into another setting, or kept as solitary characters for now, because it feels kinda redundant to build a world with no actual stories. I could easily just rethink the characters a bit and put them in the “generic fantasy world” setting and be done with it.
