Just realized I have a thing for incredibly shrewd characters who fake being weak and sick in order to survive their awful families.
Thank you, Feng Lanxi and Cheng Shaoshang
Edit: Yin Zheng also sits at this table. Yes, man is actually sick but the acting is still there and it is much appreciated.

Bit of a lurker here. But what better wsy rp get to know you. For the comfort character meme: Iceman 🤍
I would love to know about 7 and 14.
Thanks and have a great day✌
I am thrilled to have you peek your little head out to play ask memes with me. (In this analogy, you are a small, shy woodland creature.) Hello! I have noticed you around, but welcome aboard officially.
7. the moment of theirs that made me the happiest & 14. what i liked about the way canon portrayed them
Whoops I kind of answered these both at the same time. Anyhoo.
I have talked about this before (erm, more than once), but I am so excited for the chance to talk about it again!!
Ice is an introvert. He is careful and precise and he takes great pains to keep himself composed. Names are so important, and the call signs are also very important, because they're names that the pilots have earned. It's what they're called when they're in the cockpit and since life is what happens when they're in the air, the call signs are more important than their given names. And Iceman—just like Maverick, but in an entirely different way than Maverick—wears his proudly, and he works to fit it, and sometimes it becomes a mask, a shield. People who are so highly disciplined and ask so much of themselves, who work so hard to be the best always and never to let anyone see them when they're down, are under an enormous amount of pressure. They are walking a tightrope at all times, and they're doing it with their shoulders back and their eyes forward, but that motherfucker shakes. Usually people who are that tightly controlled are that way because they've been damaged as children, and/or because they're deeply insecure, so there are Layers.
Honestly, my favorite parts of Ice are the moments we get to see when he does not feel the need to hold himself like that, when he relaxes enough to show what's behind the mask. I love the moment in the TAC room where he is just lolling against the railing, sunglasses on, head down, just So. Fucking. Bored. It's a beautiful contrast to a lot of what we're shown of Ice, and it's also something that struck a chord with me personally, because that was me. That is me. Through most of life.
In America we have this bullshit called "Gifted and Talented" programs where they take the kids who are working ahead of everyone else and give them a little extra project to do like once a week or some shit. I always thought of myself—and I think of Ice this way—as Gifted and Talented and BORED. American public schools are woefully underfunded, and while there are definitely children who are left behind—I have a friend who teaches college English, and she often has students who cannot read. This is not hyperbole. They have graduated from American public schools illiterate.—the children who are working faster than everyone else are also a problem, because there's nothing to do with them. Teachers have 30+ students in every class, and they have to focus on getting everyone on the same page, which meant for me (and many others) that I spent a huge amount of time, throughout my entire public school career, in class unsupervised with nothing to do. Carly, sit quietly and read. Carly, why don't you work on assignments for other classes? Carly, have you done ALL the assignments for this class? Have you read THE WHOLE textbook? Carly, go see if you can spend the rest of the period in art. I started getting migraines in high school and would not infrequently just lay my head down and then sleep for an entire class, and not once did any of my teachers ever say anything about it.
There's this perception of Ice as aggressively rule abiding, but he's NOT. That's not it. The arguments he has with Maverick are all about collectivism and working as a team; he never gets on Maverick's ass about following the rules. And the thing is, Ice is occasionally irreverent and pushes against boundaries he can get away with. Did you know chewing gum is against the Navy's uniform code? THAT BOY ALWAYS HAS SOMETHING IN HIS MOUTH. He chews gum in the cockpit flying Mach 2. When Viper is handing out assignments and Ice responds to his SO with, "Yo," my heart sings. We love to see it.
(And let us never forget that it is, in fact, Iceman Kazansky who is a brat in every room of this house.)
Oh geez why did you let me talk so long? OKAY. FINALLY. The actual answer to your question is:
When Ice confronts Maverick on the deck of the Enterprise, he BLOOMS. His frosty mask and his tightly held composure drop away in an instant, and he smiles and it's like SUNSHINE. (Also his little orbicularis oculi muscles contracting KILL ME DEAD, but that's slightly beside the point.) I love it so much. I love him so much. I'm going to cry.
Thank you for playing.

So if Bacchus is a friend to Love
Then take this cup of kindness
Just one sip, one chug
One kiss can cure us of our blindness
Hear my wanton whispers
My loud, intemperate plea
We've been down among the dead men
Now you're coming up with me
Dig us up and hold us high
Raise our carcass to the sky
Wrap us up in sequin skin
And we can dance again in sin
