how to survive a country family party:

- put on your best country accent

- *generic country responses* ("just gonna squeeze on by here", etc.)

- if they are older and go for a hug, you cannot deny the hug. want no hugs? get a reputation for disliking hugs in the family. until then, you are weak, and susceptible to hugs.

- get at least one plate of food (this is optional, but the 'no plate' path consists of being bothered with "why don't you go on and get a plate?")

- PAY ATTENTION TO SOCIAL CUES they may not verbally say something, but instead mouth it to you across the room, or quickly slightly pull you to the side to silently show you something

- there are only certain people that can hush a room. you can try a couple times to see if you are one, but don't embarrass yourself by trying too often

- join in on the jokes and hope that you are accepted

- after the gathering, PRAY AND HOPE YOU DO NOT HAVE COVID. there are no masks here. never has been. you are not safe.

Okay, you know the whole "Danny is a scientist at WE but his coworkers shun him because he's really smart and really nice" thing and it's not only suspect in Gotham but also a surefire path to villainy or heroism and Danny has made it very clear that he's against heroism (he's actually criticized teenage heroism because, you know, he's been there doing that)

So

I'd like to see them marginalize him so much (not on purpose though) that he eventually stops trying to be friends with his coworkers even though he's still nice

And then after Danny has completely given up, at some point (the attack on the company and the building is isolated for example) he drops a line and everyone realizes that he WAS a teenage hero and when asked about it he's COMPLETELY OPEN about his past.

Like "yeah, typical origin story with not so typical other stuff. But I'm retired now because I was able to befriend my rogues and we agreed on a sparring schedule!" and "oh yeah, I was cloned and they were going to kill me, but I talked them out of it and now I have another sister!" and "I fought my evil future self, but he's now in rehab and getting better!"

And everyone's like. Oh. He's just sweet

But the thing is

Denny tried, and now he doesn't need all that work friendship. He's not as lonely as he was in the beginning (I'm personally a "dead on main" fan, so say hi to cute neighbor Jason!)

I don't know where this is going. Sorry for the rambling

I just want his coworkers (and maybe bats) to realize that this guy was very lonely in the new city, just wanted to be friends and he's really cool

And now he's not so open to the idea of friendship with colleagues. Rogue on the other hand...
