no thoughts just jj picking up his innocent best friend from a party, and lo and behold — for the first time, she’s high.
you amble over to him with a dazed smile and bright pink scleras, giggling as he stands outside by his car. “hi jayj!” you chirp, a little slurred.
“am i lookin’ at what i think i’m lookin’ at?” his lip twitches into a smirk as he places his hands on your arms, gently stopping you from walking straight into him.
“depends what you’re lookin’ at!” you respond and he glances over your head at the ongoing party, nose twitching and eyes shutting for a moment as he itches his head. he hated to be this friend, but he didn’t love the fact that your first time smoking wasn’t with him.
“who… just outta curiosity— who gave you the weed?” he shrugs, trying to seem nonchalant. you blink slowly up at him, and he could practically see when your thoughts would arrive.
“hm? why? i only smoked a teeny tiny bit.” you giggle, stumbling on your feet a little as you go to move around him to his car. he winces, cringing at himself as he steps in your way again— feeling himself get protective.
“haha yeah, for sure but uh— who was it that gave it to you?” he attempted to sound casual and you stop in your tracks, sucking on your pouty, glossy bottom lip as you think.
“it was one of the girls i went to school with.” you grin, happy that you remembered. he relaxes a little at the fact it wasn’t some creepy guy, glancing behind you again as he yanks his hat off to run a hand through his hair.
“ah…cool. yeah, alright.” he nods, acceptingly before placing a hand on your lower back and walking you to the passenger seat of his truck. “hey uh, how bout next time you smoke with me, okay? i don’t want someone putting somethin’ weird in your joint. it happens, trust me. i know some dude that accidentally smoked like…hydrogen particles or some shit.” he stops you before you can climb into his car and you stare up at him with doe eyes.
“sorry jj.”
“nah don’t be—” he chuckles, placing a hand on your cheek to let you know you’re not in trouble. “dont be sorry. i just… i can show you a better time than these losers. ‘kay?” he smiles and you nod, happy enough. he helps you into the car, giving the door a pat after closing it and jogging to the other side, glancing back at the party. he climbs into his side and looks over at you, smile tugging at his mouth still.
“you feelin’ good?” he asks and you smile slowly, trapping the sweet little laugh you wanted to let out and nod, happy to be back with your handsome best friend. “good. good girl.” he drums on his wheel before starting the car up, pulling away. “and you’re stayin’ at my place. not sending your high ass back to your parents like that, they’ll kill me n’sell my organs on facebook, dude.”

Ghost - Part 5 (final)
Negan x Glenn'sSister!Reader
Warnings: 18+, smut, angst, angry sex, p in v, anal, sex on Negan's bike, slight daddy kink, situationship
Part 4 here // Part 1 here
Tumblr media
“Knew I’d find you here, doll.” Negan got off his bike, sighing before he sat next to me on the steps of the cabin. “Wanna tell me why the hell you just up and left?” His leg pressed against mine as I stared ahead at the ground, unable to look at him.
“Just needed time to think.”
“Look at me.” His voice was deep, demanding, and I could hear the pain dripping from it. I refused to look at him.. refused to blink. All I could do was stare at a walker pinned to a tree in the distance like it might save me from this moment.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Negan nod disappointedly before looking away and my heart sank.  “We’ve both had enough time to think, y/n.” His voice cracked when he said my name like tears were forming in his throat. “On the drive over here, I had every intention of fighting for you. For us. But then I thought, I don't want to be with someone who isn’t certain they wanna be with me too.”
I nodded acceptingly. “That’s fair.” I refused to cry, not wanting him to see how this was affecting me. I’d be brave now, and feel sorry for myself later like always. “So why are you even here, then?” I asked and the question made Negan scoff. “Because I at least have enough respect for you to tell you goodbye.”
“I guess you don’t remember our first night together.” I scoffed back at him.
“How can I ever fuckin’ forget? … and that? Is the problem. Buuut…” His voice changed suddenly, like he switched into the asshole character I saw at Alexandria the first time. “...If I can survive losing Lucille, I’ll damn sure be okay losing you, darlin’.”
His words felt like a punch to my gut, leaving me numb and speechless. Negan stood after a few moments, whistling as he walked back to his bike but I was behind him before he could reach it. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?!” I whisper-yelled, not wanting to draw the attention of the dead.
Negan quickly turned to face me, smirking while he towered over me. “It means.. I’ll go back to my wives at the sanctuary. And you? can sit here for the rest of your lonely little life.. wishing you still had me.”
My only response was my hand colliding with his cheek hard enough to sting my skin and draw blood from his lip. Negan grinned wider, showing his white teeth as he wiped a drop of blood away with his thumb. There was a darkness in his eyes that I hadn’t seen before and it made me wonder how I was stupid enough to ever believe there was good in him.
“Fuck you.” My jaw clenched as I spoke and mindfully held back my fists at my sides, desperately wanting to press one into his arrogant skull.
“Yeah?” He asked, tilting his head. “Okay.” He breathed before pulling me forward by my wrist and smashing his lips into mine. I tasted the lingering blood on his mouth and sucked harder at his lip like it was some miracle drug that would heal me from his hurtful words.
He bit me back and I shoved him away, breathing heavily. A low grumble came from his throat before he pulled me back to him and wrapped his fingers around throat. “You want me to stop? Tell me.” His grip tightened around my neck and my lips remained closed. His head fell back as he let out a loud chuckle and returned his heavy gaze to mine. My eyes watered from the pressure building in my neck and his eyes softened along with his grip.
Negan looked away before letting go of my neck completely. For a moment I thought he felt bad about it, until he grabbed my wrist and maneuvered me to bend over his bike. I gasped when my stomach pressed into the seat and knocked the wind out of my lungs. Before I had a chance to stand, Negan yanked my shorts down along with my underwear and lined his already hard and ready cock up to my entrance.
"You ready to stop with the dramatics, darlin'? We both know we can't stay away from each other." He slid into me with one deep push and kept himself there for a moment. "Feel how perfect that is? We were made for each other, baby." He began thrusting and my moans grew louder as heat flooded my core.
His hand found my ponytail and he jerked it harshly, making me yelp and my back arched while his dick reached a deeper level inside me.
"Negan, fuuuuck, feels so good."
"I know baby, I know." He breathed heavily, keeping his pace fast and steady. Letting go of my ponytail, his hand dropped to my ass while the other remained squeezing my hip. I exhaled a pained breath when I felt his thumb force its way into my other hole.
"So pretty and tight." He said, looking down to watch his thumb and cock slide in and out of me simultaneously. Then suddenly he removed both and I whined at the empty feeling.
He circled the head of his dick around my asshole and my eyes went wide with the sudden painful stretch of his tip entering.
"Fuck." Negan grunted before pushing the rest of length inside me until his balls were pressed against my pussy lips. We both moaned in unison as his pace sped up. "Shit, baby, look at you. Taking daddy's cock like a fucking pro. So fucking proud of my girl." He yanked my ponytail again, hitting a spot that made me see stars.
"Negan!" I practically screamed.
His other hand reached in front of me, covering my mouth. His fingers gripped painfully around my face, bringing tears to my eyes while he ripped my insides apart.
"Goddamn it, doll. Gonna fill that little ass with my cum and watch it drip outta you. You want that? Huh?" He pulled you back further towards him, biting your neck after whispering the filthy words in your ear.
The heat continued to build in your core and you felt yourself getting close. "Yes, please Negan. I need it, please!" I begged desperately.
Negan chuckled darkly and pulled back, leaving you empty again. He finished himself off with his hand, grunting as he spilled onto the ground.
I turned around, pulling my shorts back up quickly. "What the hell?" I asked, confused at his sudden change of plans.
"Ahhh." He said relieved, buttoning himself back up and adjusting his clothing. "Something wrong, darlin'?"
I scoffed, staring at him in disbelief. "No, not at all."
"Good. Because I'm done pleasing you, sweetheart." Negan smirked at you, throwing a leg over his bike and starting the engine.
"Just like that, huh? You're just.. giving up that easy? Did I mean anything to you?"
"Of course. Always will. And when you work out your own shit and realize you fucked up, I'll be here. I love you, y/n. Nothing will change that."
I watched him disappear in the distance as he drove off, taking my heart with him.
Tumblr media
Three weeks later:
I've settled back into Alexandria, slowly making amends with the group. The Saviors had a falling out the day we attacked the Sanctuary and we haven't seen any of them since. Except Negan.
After our escapade at the cabin, Negan had apparently drove to Alexandria and surrendered. He's been a prisoner here since the day he showed up and my heart hurts for him. I haven't been to see him, and by doing so, I'm only hurting myself. I guess its my punishment to myself for letting him go. But its been three weeks now and I can't wait any longer.
Everyone knows about our past situationship after I felt it necessary to come clean. I figured we would never be able to move on unless I told the truth. At first it didn't go well, but time mends everything and I think they're starting to forgive me.
It was getting dark when I knocked on Rick's door, explained the cause of my desperation, and he reluctantly gave me the keys to Negan's cell. Arriving at the door of the basement, I took a deep breath, and walked down the stairs into darkness. The only light in the cold room was the moonlight shining through one small window by his cell and it reminded me of our moment together in the trailer - the day I took a bullet for him. I knew then I was in love him with him and nothing has changed since.
"Negan.." I whispered, walking closer.
He lied on his back on his cot, looking up at the ceiling with a hand behind his head.
Silence.
"Please talk to me."
Nothing. He wouldn't even look at me.
"Ok, I'll talk then." I leaned against his bars. "I'm sorry it's taken me awhile to come see you. I needed some time to work out my shit - as you put it." I paused, giving him a moment to react but he didn't. "Well.. it's worked out. If you care?" I said teasingly.
His head fell to the side as he looked at me, trying not to smile. I took that as a welcome sign and quickly opened his cell door with the key. He barely had time to stand up before I ran to his arms and kissed him like my life depended on it.
He lifted me before laying me down on the cot and climbing over me. His mouth stayed connected to mine and without words, we made a million promises to each other in that moment.
We'd never leave again.

A/n: This final part was slightly difficult for me to finish. I have so many other one-shots in process that I'm ready to focus on, so I'm sorry if this felt rushed. But this entire story was so fun to write. Thanks so much to whoever requested it! <3

I'm Losing It (All I Get's Jealousy) | Laura Freigang
Tumblr media
warnings: ~
word count: 1377
summary: your girlfriend, laura gets jealous at national camp
a/n: jealousy is not something i've written before because jealousy isn't an emotion i have much experience with but i got two requests (one, two) so this is my attempt to do so
Tumblr media
‘Hey.’ You laugh as a certain blonde pulls you into her lap, when you walk past her in the locker room.
‘I missed you.’ She complains, nuzzling her face into the crook of your neck and tightening her arms around you.
‘I’m right here schatz.’ You murmur, leaning back into her.
Laura presses a kiss onto your forehead, content for you to stay where you are.
Even when more of your teammates trail into the locker room.
‘You’re a cosy pair.’ Sara immediately teases.
‘Also I hate to interrupt but it’s our turn for media.’ Jule adds, with a mischievous grin.
You giggle and turn around to kiss your girlfriend on her cheek, ‘See you in a bit.’
Laura pouts, ‘Do you really have to go?’
‘Yes.’ You hum and kiss her again to appease her.
The blonde accepts it and relents, letting you follow Jule out of the room.
The younger player pokes fun at you as soon as the two of you are out of the striker’s earshot.
‘You’re so in love with her. Like you should have seen your heart eyes.’
You blush and shrug, knowing better than to try and counter any sort of comment about the depth of your feelings for your girlfriend.
‘Really! When's the wedding?’
Her words get a laugh out of you, ‘I don’t know Jule but I will be sure to invite you when I do know.’
That's how it is with the Wolfsburg player. She is easy to get along with and makes you smile a lot.
With the media team facilitating, the activity goes by quickly and with Jule participating along with you, is a great deal of fun.
In fact, you laugh so much that you’re still smiling when you get back to the locker room.
Lea is there, having finished her own media day activity.
Your Bayern teammate sidetracks you as you try to make your way to Laura, with a simple request of helping her touch up her make up for photos in the new home kit.
You’re happy to oblige, biting your lip in concentration as you apply a fresh coat of mascara to her eyelashes.
When you are finished and turn back to where Laura was sitting, she’s gone.
Sydney tells you that she’d left for her own media day activity when you ask.
With a sigh, you go and look for a snack to tide you over till your girlfriend is free.
It seems like Obi has the same idea because you find her already digging into a bag of corn chips.
She offers to share it with you but only if you listen to the list of pick up lines she’s been working on, with every intention of annoying her own girlfriend with them once she’s back home.
Sitting beside her, you dip your hand into the bag as you listen.
‘Are you lightning? Cause you’re McQueen.’
You snort, ‘Awful.’
Lena chuckles before reading out another, ‘Are you a charger? Because I'm dying without you.’
This one doesn’t even merit any response other than you rolling your eyes.
‘What’s it like to be the most gorgeous person in the room?’
You giggle, ‘I don't know. I'd have to ask Laura.’
The midfielder groans, ‘Stop it. You have it much too bad for her.’
Eating another corn chip, you nod acceptingly and Obi shakes her head in disbelief.
‘They say nothing lasts forever. Want to be my nothing?’
‘Eh. It’s not completely dreadful.’ You feedback.
‘Are your shoelaces tied? Because I don’t want you falling for anyone else.’
‘Cheesy but better.’
Lena grins and encouraged by your words, tells you another, ‘Let’s play a game…not hide and seek though, people like you are hard to find.’
‘No. No. No. Obi, that is terrible.’
‘Well the whole point is to annoy my girlfriend, not sweep her off her feet. I've already done that.’ She points out proudly.
You grimace and the brunette offers you more corn chips.
‘Last one okay? I swear.’
Her excitement should have clued you in to how cringey the next one would be but you don’t realise it till after she deadpans, ‘I had a good pickup line ready to go, but you're so good looking I'm literally speechless.’
You burst out laughing and Lena does too. Actual tears are gathering in the corner of your eyes from how hard you are losing it.
It is at that moment that Laura appears beside you, irritation clearly written across her face.
‘Lau.’ You greet and are taken by surprise when she leans in.
Faster than you can react, she pulls you into a heated kiss. One that she dominates, leaving you entirely breathless when she draws back.
The blonde ignores the wide eyed look on the Wolfsburg player’s face, shortly stating, ‘Oberdorf, the only person allowed to use pick up lines on my girlfriend is me.’
Then she pulls you away from Obi, not loosening the grip she has on your hand until you are in the hotel room you both are sharing.
She stares at you then, with an expression you’ve never seen on her face before. It unnerves you if you are completely honest because she has never been unreadable to you. Not like she is now.
‘What's wrong schatz?’ You softly ask.
‘I don't like Lena trying her pick up lines on you.’
‘She didn’t mean anything by them, you know that she has a girlfriend. I agreed to listen to them in exchange for her sharing her snack with me.’ You explain.
Laura huffs, ‘I still don’t like it.’
‘Lau? Everyone here knows that I'm yours. That you are the one I am in love with.’
Your girlfriend mellows a little at your words.
Ever so gently, you tuck a wayward strand of hair behind her ear and whisper, ‘I love you Laura. You know that.’
She sighs, shoulders slumping down, ‘I know you do. I love you too, which is why this is so hard.’
You frown in confusion and the Eintracht Frankfurt player fidgets with the rings on her fingers, almost as if she is embarrassed as she admits, ‘I just miss you so incredibly much. The past month has been more difficult than usual because the last time I was able to physically see you was at our last camp and that was cut short because I got injured. Now at this camp, I have barely been able to spend time with you.’
‘Oh.’ You breathe as you realise that there is a reason behind your favourite blonde’s sudden clinginess.
She hadn’t been exaggerating when she mentioned how much she missed you, earlier in the day and you mentally kick yourself for not seeing it sooner.
‘You've spent more time with Jule and Obi than me and that’s alright because I know you don’t see them all that often but I miss you. I really really miss you.’
Laura is on the verge of crying now, her bottom lip wobbling as she stands in front of you.
‘I'm sorry. I know the distance is hard but I'm here now okay?’
Slipping your arms around her waist, you draw your girlfriend close to you. The forward melts into your embrace immediately, her chin resting on your shoulder.
‘I shouldn't have gotten jealous. I'm sorry.’ She mumbles.
You hug her tighter.
‘Don’t apologise schatz.’
From the moment you and the blonde had started dating, the two of you have been aware of the challenges a long distance relationship would bring. What you hadn’t been aware of, prior to your conversation, was how much your girlfriend has been struggling with them.
After turning your head so that you can press an affectionate kiss against her neck, you say, ‘Summer break is coming soon and then it’ll be just you and me okay? We’ve got that trip to Mallorca planned and I am looking forward to spending every minute of it with you.’
‘That sounds like heaven.’ Laura whispers.
You hum in agreement and check your watch before adding, ‘Till then we have enough time to take a nap before our tactics meeting? I don’t know about you but all the media stuff has tired me out…’
Your girlfriend doesn’t need to be asked twice.

‘Haunted Beauty’ | Spencer Reid
prompt: ‘Person A likes to sketch, and B catches them sketching, and asks what they are drawing. Person A had been drawing B, so they stutter out an excuse while slamming their sketchbook closed.’
word count: 2.3k
content warnings?: none. fluff
a/n: this is the beginning of a renaissance where i come back to tumblr. bare with me while i reformat stuff and checkout my recent posts if ya can
Tumblr media
When you reach eleven days without being called out to the field for a case, there’s a lull in the BAU that leaves everyone bored and irritable.
Morgan sits at his corner desk twiddling his pen, spinning on his chair and occasionally ripping up small pieces of paper to aim at someone’s (usually Reid’s) head. His aim is terrible, only because the small, rolled-up balls weigh so little, so you can watch with suppressed giggles until Reid finally notices his game. A hit to the head leads to an irritated “Hey!” - While you and Morgan laugh openly.
Morgan walks over to ruffle the messy hair of your colleague and picks up the small mess he’s left on the floor around him- Spencer shuts the small notebook he’d been working in at the disruption.
You spin around on your chair to see Emily not-so-subtly looking for cheap flights on her laptop- one of her favourite ways to guarantee her time-off is approved is by booking the trip before she even puts in the request. There’s no need for the efforts really, Hotch has never denied a PTO request since your jobs are so demanding, though it doesn’t hurt to be sure.
JJ comes up behind Emily waving an empty mug, asking if she wants another coffee too. She nods, groans into a “God, yes please.” - before JJ begins to ask about her vacation plans and where she hopes to go, pointing at her computer.
Coffee sounds like a fantastic idea, so you stand from your chair and do a lazy spin towards Morgan - “Yes please, mama.” - and taking the empty cup from Spencer’s extended hand too before he even gets the chance to ask. You smile at him warmly- and before you even get a chance to lean over and see what he’s been working on, he’s slammed his notebook shut again and said “Actually, I could do with a break too, I’ll join you.”
You nod and shrug acceptingly, and Spencer jogs across to JJ when she shouts to make enough for everyone, and grabs the two mugs from her hand as well. “Thanks, Spence.”
It takes you only a minute to prep the coffee, replacing the filter and dumping in some grounds and Spencer has swooped in to fill up the water jug before you get the chance. You thank him, and watch as he turns to the sink in the small kitchenette, flicks the tap on and watches as the water fills its container.
He’s wearing a comfortable-looking navy cardigan, it’s well-fitting and you’re acutely aware of how he’s allowed his own sense of style to come through in his working wardrobe over his years in the BAU. You allow yourself an indulgent look at your co-worker while his back is to you, grinning slightly as you enjoy the view.
“How’s the case files?” He asks as he finishes loading the machine and presses the button to let the coffee drip. His hands glide in their motions after so long of using the machine most days.
“I finished all my consults, now it’s just an endless pile of cold cases to keep me busy.” You drag out a few vowels as you speak, teetering close to yawning in exasperation but the easy nights at home have kept you well-rested.
“Me too.” He shrugs, gently pushing the tub of sugar closer to the mugs to use when the coffee has finished.
“What are you making notes on?” You ask, and lean your body comfortably against the countertop.
“Notes?” He scrunches his face.
“You’ve been scribbling in your notebook for the past half hour.” “Oh!”
Realisation washes over his face, and you wonder if there’s a reason for his unusually cloudy brain. You laugh just once and raise an eyebrow in confusion at him.
“Nothing in particular, just some musings to keep me busy.” He shrugs.
There’s an old metal tin sitting on the side, some cookies that an agent had made and brought in for everyone to take from. You reach across and open it, looking closely for the biggest one before taking it. You snap it in half and present the biggest piece to the man beside you.
“Thanks.” He utters, before taking an indulgent bite.
“What kind of musings are keeping Dr Reid busy on this fine Thursday afternoon?” You ask with a glint in your eye.
He shrugs, and begins to mumble through his cookie-filled mouth before pausing to actually swallow before he speaks. His action makes you giggle. “I was asked if I’d like to do a guest lecture on profiling for the FBI Academy and I’m not really sure if I want to do it.”
“Why not?” You ask sincerely.
“I think a lot of my stories about the job might change their mind about working here.” He smiles, you both laugh, and then he shakes his head. He’s not wrong. “No, I’m kidding. I’m just not sure if I’m ready for doing something like that alone, I think there’s a lot of pressure for lecturers to be engaging and informative, and I tend to go off on a tangent.”
“I love your tangents.” You reply honestly and with a smile, which he returns appreciatively, and a little rosy in the cheeks. “But I know what you mean, I’m a profiler for a living but I don’t think I could get on a stage and give a good lecture on it.”
“I, um,” He smiles wistfully and nods his head as he speaks, something he frequently does. “I’d love to run my own classes at the Academy or maybe Georgetown one day, but I’m not ready for that kind of responsibility yet.”
He’d be a fantastic professor, you know this. And you’re sure he’d have a lecture full of hopeful psychology fanatics just like you both once were. “Maybe a guest lecture is a good trial run, even if it’s a little out of your comfort zone.”
“Yeah.” He smiles, then begins to pour out the coffees. Each mug is almost identical- white or navy with some variation of the FBI logo on, but somehow he knows who’s is who’s, and leaves enough room for cream in cups that need it. “Which case would you choose?”
“For a guest lecture?” He nods. “Um…”
It’s difficult, while every case is important you know that a balance needs to be found in a case chosen for an Academy lecture- it can’t be too standard, it wouldn’t show off why your jobs are so important or might even struggle to keep the audience interested. But you can’t choose one of your worst cases either, some of them can be particularly heavy even for you all to think back on.
“Maybe the zodiac imitator?” You suggest with a shrug. “You can go through how you deduced it wasn’t the real zodiac, looking for messages in online articles, Garcia going through MENSA records, you could even talk about navigating all the reporters and public attention.”
“Y’know, I was thinking about that one.” He agrees and you tap his arm playfully. “The trainees always enjoy the imitator cases.”
“As much as you can enjoy this kinda thing, right?” You laugh humorlessly. Spencer knows everyone’s coffee preference off by heart, you know that, but it still makes you feel a little hot when he perfects your drink and holds it out to you.
“Maybe ‘interested in’ would be a better way to put it.” He corrects himself with a similar chuckle. You nod in agreement.
You both take a small moment to enjoy a sip of your drinks before taking the rest of the mugs to the members of your team- Morgan grins at Reid as he passes his mug, and JJ and Emily thank you when you bring their drinks too.
“What do you think,” JJ calls you by name. “Where would you go for a beach holiday?”
“Beach?” You say and laugh lightly. “Wherever Morgan’s not going.”
They both grin and laugh, and you hear Emily begin to say “Y’know I’ve seen those pictures of Morgan’s Jamaican resort…”
You head back to your own desk, you have Reid right in front of you and Morgan at a table across from you both, it makes for easy conversation and sharing of the sweet treats you bring in when you try to hide them from the rest of the team- more for you that way. Every so often you stop on your way to work and fill up a pick ‘n’ mix, you know by now that Spencer’s favourites are the chocolate jazzles and Morgan loves anything sour.
Emily shouts for Morgan to help her find a holiday destination, so he shakes his head playfully and taps you on the shoulder as he walks past you.
The coffee is perfect as you sip it, just slightly hot, not too sweet and not too strong. You cradle it between two hands as you step past your desk and stop in front of Spencer’s, leaning gently against the table. He looks up at you, mid sip, and raises his eyebrows to ask what you need from him.
“Can I see what you’ve been writing?” You ask innocently, pointing at the small brown book that sits central on his desk. A pen sticks out of the top of it to hold the page he was using, and he seems unusually shocked by your question.
You’re profilers, though Spencer is a surprisingly good liar, you have a feeling he wasn’t pondering a guest lecture for the Academy.
“There’s nothing important in there.” He shakes his head and instinctively goes to pull it out of reach.
“C’mon, Reid!” You giggle, putting your coffee cup down in a space on his desk. “I just wanna know what’s been keeping you occupied. You’ve been scribbling in it all afternoon, so secretively too.”
“I-I’m not-” He pauses, stuttering and puts his own mug down and out of reach before pulling the pen from between the pages of his notebook. He leaves the brown pad where it is. “being secretive, why do you want to see?”
“I’m just curious.” You say, bowing your head in apology. “I didn’t mean to pry, I’ll just leave you to it.”
“N-no, wait,” He stops you, seeing your small change in demeanour and immediately washing with guilt. Your body language changes just slightly, not quite closed off but a little less open and maybe a smidge of your own guilt for possibly upsetting him. He’s not upset, and he certainly does want you to be. “I’m sorry. I-I’m just, um,”
You turn back to him, offering another apologetic look. It’s not necessary, and he holds the notebook tightly in his hand, looking at it while he thinks. “Would you like to see?”
“Only if you want me to.”
“Why not?” He hums, gently passing the small brown book to you. You take it, just as gently, curling a finger into the gap created by the pen to hold the open page.
The brown book is worn on the edges, creased from opening so many times and his recent page is over half way through. You’ve seen him scribble in it frequently, and you’ve seen the way he slips it into his satchel at the end of the day- it’s important to him, you know that.
You open the page and it’s a drawing, a sketch in black biro. You’ve seen some of Reid’s drawings before- wavy lines, shrunken eyes and wiry hair, it’s his own unique style of illustration and you love his hidden passion for it. His drawings have been of imaginary characters, animals, even halloween decorations; they have a haunted aspect to them and you admire his talent for capturing the way he sees the world. This one is adorned with small wavy lines bouncing off the central figure.
“It’s-” This one you recognise, an unhidden smile and the shape of the hair. “-me. You drew me?”
“Um… yeah.” He smiles, but it doesn’t hide his nerves as he shifts in his chair while you look over the lines he’s made.
It’s today, you know the top you’re wearing today and one wiggly line for the chair you’ve been perched on. Your hair is styled as it is today, but you haven’t smiled so brightly today, you haven’t had the reason. That part, you realise, is from his memory. You like that he thinks of you as a happy person- the lines show that too, they add a bright, liveliness to the illustration of you.
There’s small flowers on the page adjacent- lavender, daisies, chrysanthemums, with what you assume is the scientific name underneath. They dot across the page like a printed pattern, but with the handwriting you know of Spencer all around. Underneath the drawing of you, though you’re not sure if it’s meant to describe both pages, it says “Beautiful”.
“Wow, Spence- I mean- Spencer,” You stutter over your words, grinning and feeling flushed at the thought of him spending his afternoon drawing you so dearly. “It’s amazing, you’re really good at art, y’know.”
“Thanks.” He replies sweetly, face unabashedly pink and smiling from ear to ear. “It’s um, really tempting to draw you when you’re sitting right across from me. I wanted to try and capture your smile but my drawings have given you more of a… haunting beauty.”
You don’t know what to say, still smiling and stuttering over nothing at all as you look over to him, to the drawing, then him again. His pride in his work makes his face light up in a way you rarely see on the job. “A-and Spence is fine, if you like.”
“Thanks for letting me see, Spence.” You say, dancing lightly around the last word, an affectionate nickname you know is only reserved for the special few. It feels good to be special to him. “I’ve never been very good at drawing.”
“I don’t think skill matters when you’re passionate about what you’re trying to recreate on the page.” He says with a simple smile, then bites down on his bottom lip to stop it from being too bright.
“You think so?” “Yeah.”
a/n: and just for funsies…

everything is doing well in your last period AP biology class, except one thing. your lab partner is clapton davis. the one person in this school you don’t get along with. he annoys you and teases you whenever he can, honestly you don’t even know how he got into honors classes, you weren’t even sure he was going to college, but that’s none of your business right now.
“hey loser” clapton sits beside you and smacks his gum in his mouth. you hate when he does that, or anything really. “do you have any idea what we’re doing? i’ve been confused this entire time” he says genuinely. for the first time in his life he actually wants to ask for help.
“uh yeah, we’re just supposed to research stem cell differentiations. it’s easy don’t worry we can get this done in like 20 minutes” you say confidently. you actually have no idea how to go about this project but honestly it doesn’t matter.
“oh, okay. are we gonna do the project at my house or yours?” he asks, almost nervous to ask.
“mine is fine” you say as his face turns a light shade of pink from the invitation. he quickly hides his face, and especially the blush creeping up on his cheeks.
“you know, you’re pretty cute when you’re quiet” you tease. obviously trying to get under his skin.
“s-shut up. just shut up” he sutters, the pink still on his cheeks. this makes you giggle, seeing how he just melts when you take charge, when over something as simple as directing a project.
after the bell rings, you get out of your chair and pack your things up, clapton frantically says “hey, wait up-”
you take your earbud out and reply with a simple “hm?”
“am i riding with you- or-?” he asks, almost unsure about the situation.
“yeah, you can ride with me. just- wipe your shoes before you get in my car” you say as you lead him out to the parking lot to your forest green dodge charger srt. he’s almost in awe of your car. he now knows why you asked that of him.
as you two ride to his house, you notice something. is he fucking hard right now? you think as your eyes gaze at his bulge in his pants. you let out a small chuckle on accident.
“what?” clapton asks, repositioning himself to where his package isn’t on full display. he now knows you know, and god is he embarrassed. his cheeks are bright red as his leg bounces up and down
“you- you got something in your pants clapton” you laugh. obviously teasing him at this point.
“just- just drive, okay?” he says, face pink as a beam of sweat falls from his forehead. god he’s cute when he’s nervous.
as you both arrive at your house, he goes inside with his bookbag on. you lead him to your room, a minimalist decorated with colorful art on the walls. your room looks like a museum, well it a museum had a tv and a cd player- but nonetheless, your room was nice and clapton liked it. he especially liked the vanilla scent in your house.
“so- let’s address it, why did you get all hot and bothered in my car?” you mention, and it’s obvious now. he’s blushing like crazy, just like a little sub. it’s really adorable actually, but you just want to see how far you can take this.
he doesn’t respond, but his bulge is back. and you just have to take care of this, before any work can get done. “you want some help?” you offer as you smile teasingly. he just nods his head up and down acceptingly, he needed this, especially after you teasing him almost made him cum in his pants.
you unbuckle his jeans and he whimpers at the touch of you. god he was such a little bottom for you, just putty in your hands. as you get his pants off, you notice the precum leaking through his boxers and you immediately get turned on by the sight. you imagine the taste of his cum and how his dick would feel twitching inside of you.
you take his throbbing dick out of his boxers, he’s average but girthy. the tip is bright pink, soaked in precum. as you hold his cock on your hands you rub your thumb over his slit. he twitches instantly. “fuck, please- please fuck me” he whimpers. you smile at the sound of his groans for you. “you gonna be a good boy? gonna listen to me and do what i say?” you ask.
“fuck…yes i’ll be a good boy….just for you.” he says as he bucks his hips into your hands. you smile at his response, just what you wanted to hear. you sit on his cock and bouncing up and down, overstimulating him as his jaw goes slack as he moans softly “fuck…fuck yes…god you feel s’good” his eyes roll back in his head as his dick twitches inside you
“fuck, fuck- i’m- gon- gonna cum” he stammers. “cum inside, you’ve been a good boy.” you reply.
he shoots hot thick lines of cum inside you, filling you up. he’s so far inside you that there’s not even a chance of him for you to leak out. he basically bred you, but god it felt so good.

I Have Something For You (Eobard Thawne X Reader)
A/N: Helloooooo. Here's a little one-shot that didn't make it into More Than He Bargained For that I thought you would all enjoy!
---------------------------------
"I have to go out of town for a couple of days," Eobard reluctantly informed you, his expression softening as he looked down at your pouting face. "What? Why?" you protested, your eyes searching his for an explanation.
Eobard couldn't resist the charm of your pout; it made him feel guilty about leaving you. A warm smile graced his lips as he reassured you, "I have to do this thing for work, but I'll be back before you know it."
"Impossible," you countered, pressing a quick, affectionate kiss on his lips before snuggling closer to him. "I always hate when you aren't here."
He sighed, his gaze fixed on you. He wished he could freeze this moment, capture it in eternity. You and him…happy, lovers. You made the stagnant existence in this time period bearable. "Why can't you take me with you?" you asked, breaking him out of his thoughts.
"You know I can't," he replied, his voice filled with a touch of regret.
You groaned in response, not happy but acceptingly. "Alright."
A comfortable silence enveloped the room as the television droned on in the background, providing background noise with its latest stock market analysis.
"I have something for you," Eobard suddenly broke the silence, his voice infused with anticipation.
Your eyes lit up, and you sat up eagerly, a smile tugging at your lips. "Oh? What is it?"
"We have to go outside, though," he teased, pressing a tender kiss on your lips. "Meet me outside," he said, his voice carrying a hint of excitement.
You giggled as you watched him almost trip on his way to your shared bedroom, his playful smile and wink leaving you with a sense of curiosity. Grabbing your shoes, you headed outside to join him.
Eobard's house was a cozy haven, nestled alongside the lake bordering Central City. The backyard was a sight to behold, with towering, lush trees adorned with delicate jar lights. A beautiful garden with a meandering stone path guided you towards the shimmering lake. From this vantage point, you could also see the dazzling cityscape, adding to the enchantment of your little piece of heaven.
"It's beautiful."
You turned around and found Eobard standing beside you, a gentle smile playing on his lips. Your heart fluttered at the sight of him. "It is," you replied, unable to contain your joy.
"Oh, I wasn't talking about the view," he sweetly retorted, his gaze filled with affection.
You couldn't help but grin, feeling the warmth spread across your cheeks.
"Before I go, I wanted to give you something, but first, I have to ask you something," Eobard began, his voice laced with nerves.
Curiosity ignited within you. "Okay," you responded, your voice soft and filled with anticipation.
He took a deep breath, his hand trembling slightly as it ran through his hair. "Is everything okay?" you asked, concern creeping into your voice.
"Yes! Yes, I just—" he stammered, his eyes meeting yours before he finally gathered his composure. Stepping forward, his voice regained strength. "Will you marry me?"
You stood frozen, unable to process the question at first.
Did he just...?
Oh my goodness..
He just asked me to marry him
"Yes, of course!" you squealed with delight as he kissed you passionately, sealing the moment. As you pulled apart, your eyes glanced down and spotted a dazzling diamond ring with your beloved gemstone nestled in the center.
Overwhelmed with joy, you looked up at him and said, "I love you."
A radiant smile graced his face as he replied, "I love you too."

Words: 2,324
You have an eventful morning.

<Previous - Next>
You and Hiccup stood side by side as you watched Astrid and Stormfly become a dot in the distance.
You felt the wind blowing against your neck, cool and a bit more wicked than it was before, stinging your cheeks and your nose.
As the high you got from saving Hookfang came crashing down, your breathing slowed.
You couldn’t help yourself, overcome by a sudden jolt of grief. Albeit, it was a long time coming.
You wondered what it was like back home, where you’d come from. If it was going to be just as cold there as it was here, in the night.
“Do you think they’ll be alright?” You asked, sighing, trying to dissipate some of the pressure building up in your chest.
“Yeah… Yeah,” You turn to Hiccup, shoulders slumped, greeted by the sight of running his hand back in his hair, exposing a pale forehead dotted by freckles and the occasional blackhead, “I think they’ll be fine.”
He seemed incredibly relieved, still smiling as he kept his eyes trained on the rising waves, the sound of the crashing sea growing louder and louder, wind brushing against your ankles.
You believed him.
It was rough, but at least now you knew what to do, in the future.
That thought brought up other things, unbidden.
You felt great, having procured the honeycomb from the Queen, but there were many, many things that had been left untouched, questions unanswered.
They almost made you feel disingenuous. Plastic and see-through, in a sense. It was unfair.
And so, before you could stop yourself, you spoke.
“What if I knew your future? But just a little bit,” You asked casually, not looking at him.
The sky was more blues and grays then oranges now, the only bits awash with that same light being the orange ends of clouds just barely brushing the hints of reds and yellows, focused in a faded, circular just touching the sea, only barely visible.
“What?”
You nodded at the skyline, “Hypothetically, of course. That kind of thing is impossible.”
“Is it?” Hiccup asked with what you thought was a hint of sarcasm.
“I’m not superstitious,” You said as an excuse, very much not looking him in the eye. He didn’t seem the type to be superstitious, but you never knew.
You directed your gaze instead towards the waves below, black and roiling.
The two of you set up in a dry patch in the forest, a small clearing.
You would have camped back out on the cliffs but it became too windy. Both you and Hiccup were worried that it might put out a fire, or set fire to the local wildlife.
Which was bad. You didn’t have any blankets this time, after all.
Or the bucket’s you’d need to put out a forest.
The two of you had dug a pit on a particularly dry patch of ground, pulling large enough stones, about the side of your palm to just a bit larger than your hands, and stacked them around it.
Inside flickered a small fire, kept going using dry twigs and branches.
You painfully picked the dirt out from under your nails, wincing when the gravel rubbed your skin raw or you picked too close to where your nail met skin, irritating the divide there, laid out by the pit, thick leaves rustling above you, gnarled roots digging into the ground around you, bushes rattling with the wind.
“You ever wanted to go catch frogs?” You asked, thinking about earlier , when you’d been chasing after Fireworms with Hiccup.
“I mean…” Hiccup said in response, sitting with his legs spread and his elbows on his thighs, picking at the fire with a mostly dry stick; an unusual position for someone who was as twig thin as he, “No, not particularly.”
“Okay,” You said, voice toned acceptingly.
You listened to the crackling of the fire for a moment longer, dancing and swaying and giving off a light heat that tickled at your fingertips.
“So… Frogs,” Hiccup said, after a while.
You thought he didn’t want to go looking for frogs?
You looked up at him, meeting a face wholly interested, staring directly at you.
“So, do you… Do you want to go catch frogs?” You turned to look at him then, meeting a face that was half blank and fully interested.
“Maybe.”
No words were needed for what came next, as you stood up and kicked some dirt onto the fire, pebbles spraying as Hiccup did the same, brushing dust off his sleeves.
Jumping and wading around in the pond, running past packed, gnarled roots and sloshing through the muck; Hiccup had never really, truly experienced something like that.
It was something he’d brushed aside as lame at one point in his childhood after too many days spent running and wandering the woods alone, in order to compensate for something he knew he’d never have, then forgotten about it.
But he couldn’t help it.
It scratched an itch he’d never had scratched before, running around the village and in the forest pretty much on his lonesome.
He watched you bend, washing your hand in the stream, one that trickled slowly into the swampish pond, “I don’t want to get warts or anything.”
You both had nearly fallen asleep in the trees and, consequently, spent the evening running after frogs. You’d even caught a few together, two for him and three for you.
Then you’d have to let them go, after a short debate on whether or not they were edible. He voted no.
Hiccup tried to blink the weight away from his eyes as yellow sunlight began to peek over the treetops.
He was still thinking, too. About what you said- That you didn’t care. That you found him nice.
He had hopes; he hoped that he was, well, he was your normal too.
Praise Thor, he was so pathetic.
A slim, silver fish darted past his ankles, one flesh and one wooden, his trousers, damp and most likely ruined for the rest of the day, floating around them.
His boots lay by the shore and he treaded deeper, wading forwards in the pond, following the quick-moving fish with his eyes.
You yelped up ahead, the ripples in the water you caused displacing floating pond plants.
When you turned to look at him again, you were holding up a frog.
The common kind, brown with darker patches just under the ridges over its eyes, connecting to where its eyelashes would have been if it wasn’t, well, a frog.
“I found another one,” You said, standing and shifting as the early morning light began to filter through the packed canopy above.
A mini fall, short and trickling, ran a few long steps away, leaves rustling and turning from an almost inky black to a lighter dark green as night turned to morning.
He had to stifle both a yawn and a grin. Fighting back the force of nature that was sleep and the unstoppable motion that was joy.
The water began to still again as he stopped in front of you.
“I, ah,” Hiccup said, before he could stop himself, glancing off into the bushes, “So…”
He put his hands on your shoulders.
His palms prickled with unsurety, the hesitant grip he hand on your arm causing him to grimace and his fingers to twitch.
He glanced at your face, eyes trailing lower, towards your mouth, at the shadows falling under your top lip, the yellow light fading onto your bottom.
He leaned in closer and closer.
All he could see were your eyes.
His mouth quivered, “I…”
“What are you-?”
He was insane.
His shoulder jolted.
“Noth-nothing!” Hiccup trailed off quickly, waving his arms and bracing them against his waits, flicking back his vest.
Water sloshed around his feet as he backed away, stumbling slightly when his prosthetic got stuck in the muck.
He was such an idiot.
“I-” You stared.
Hiccup was filled with embarrassment, the pond with silence besides the trickling of the fall and the wiggling and squirming of the frog until- as it all happened in an instant- It writhed quickly and you struggled to keep it still until, after one hard last, slimy push, in leapt onto Hiccup’s face.
You spent the rest of the morning napping in trees, huddled on top of separate trunks, blocked by branches and bushes and not really looking at each other.
Toothless had wandered back eventually, and now he was sitting and temperamentally lashing his tail, mud and sticks stuck to his leathery, scaly hide.
You were in a much similar state, boots caked with mud, sticks sticking out of your tunic, stitches along the side torn and your sleeves slightly frayed, though most of that happened long before you’d been stranded.
Hiccup had a healthy number of leaves and sticks in his hair, woven into the roots and by his ends, split and not.
His face was some definite shade of puce, and he definitely couldn’t look you in the eye.
His fur coat, though already short and sopping wet, was plastered with mud in places so it looked nearly like leather, so close you might’ve assumed it was underneath the muck had you not known better.
The designs printed onto his boot, which you had not noticed until then, were smudged and scratched as he looked up at his dad with a guilty expression on his face.
But at least you had been found.
The Chief looked down at you from his perch on his dragon, expression unmoving, looking just as impassive and stern as he usually was, though you couldn’t help but notice a hint of touchiness, a severity and intense focus to his expression.
Instead of focusing his attention on his son, he was, in fact, judging you; his gaze was heavy and brown stern, creased as it always was, seemingly in a permanent manner.
You rung your hands again, resisting the urge to tap your boot against the stone below. Running around the swamp seemed much less fun when you were ice cold and very damp.
It was like being surprised by a math test; you were being judged for something you didn’t know you were supposed to study for.
“We had fun?” Hiccup answered his father, struggling.
You started, glancing pleadingly at Hiccup then back. You had, hadn’t you?
Then, Stoick nodded, attention drawn briefly back towards his son. He had landed, earlier, with little fanfare, spotting the two of you shuffling along on the cliffs.
You hadn’t noticed when he’d spoken before, too immersed in your nerves.
Hiccup’s twitchy demeanor -and other things you refused to think about- made you nervous, even more than you would have been just staring Stoick down yourself, if what you were doing could be called that
The Chief glanced back at you briefly, expression somehow less sharp than before, though no less concerned, wary or judging; the crease of his brows was lighter and the squint of his eye was no longer so severe, nor were the ties of his mustache angled down so extreme, in a way you thought might imply a frown.
He sighed heavily, shoulders releasing some stiffness, though still pointed at a severe angle, as if exhausted by the whole matter, before roughly patting Thornado’s back, causing him to nearly buck in irritation, “Well, go on, then.”
You nearly tripped as you walked forward, to boot scuffing against basalt and lugs struggling against sharp sea air, the winds much colder than they had been before, causing you to shiver, the water weighing down most of your clothes making your jaw clench and teeth chatter.
You hopped, not so much grabbing onto Thornado’s back as placing your palms along his black, the force generated by the suction of your slightly moist fingers and his dry scales being the only thing keeping you off the ground.
You wanted to bury your face into his spiky-flat side.
You had no idea how to get the rest of the way up, and you knew you’d get no help here.
You spent a moment hanging limply before you began wiggling your legs, both arms thrown over Thornado’s back, spanding yourself a moment limp before you grabbed onto a long spike and one muddy boot was able to grip his side so that you might’ve been able to clumsily crawl over onto his back.
“Settle down, beast,” The Chief grumbled gruffly as Thornado grumbled and stood higher, discontent made clear as you tried to scoot forwards onto the back of his saddle.
You settled an appropriate distance behind Hiccup’s father, shaking hands brought forwards, fingers clutching shakily and lightly at his fur cape.
You were sure your face was red enough to match a cherry, you were sure, with how on burning fire your cheeks were.
You refused to look down as Hiccup did his own shimmying up, though by the sound of it he seemed to have less trouble.
Hiccup was behind you this time, hands placed on each side of your waist, unsure and stiff at your role switched.
Your shoulders jumped as Thornado took off, wings flapping surely and with stern measure as he pushed into the sky, slow and with Toothless, which he snagged, wriggling below him.
And indeed Toothless was held by Thornado below, dangling like an unruly cat, his tail with the ripped fin twitching temperamentally, yowling and making many hissy burbling deep in his throat.
You let out a shaky sigh, though it sounded more like a song note or a whistle, hopefully not audible to anyone but you over the wind as you began to rise into the sky, face burning.
Your stomach swooped as you gained altitude, and you watched as Fireworm island became a smaller and smaller dot in the distance, feeling as if your internal organs had all fallen into the tips of your shoes.
Goodbye, Fireworm island.

Enchanted
A Daniel Wagner / Samuel Kiszka fic
Summary: Sometimes it takes some meddling to see what is right in front of you.
Tags: fluff, love spell au, very light angst, low-key funny
Words: 10.8 k
Author's Note: Happy (late) Valentine's Day!! I literally got the idea for this one the day of the holiday and proceeded to write this, thinking it would be at max like 2,000 words. So, yeah, this one kinda got away from me. Anyway, this is dedicated to @ofthecaravel for being more enthusiastic about this idea than I was (she also made the cover pic so everyone say thank you, Karou). Title taken from Enchanted by Taylor Swift. Please enjoy!! <3

When Danny had the idea to go to the art fair near his house, he hadn’t thought he’d be walking away with an honest to god love potion. I mean, those aren’t real, right?? It’s all just made up for awful rom-coms and Disney movies. So, when that witchy woman had stopped him and gave it to him for free, he thought nothing of it.
He had been weaving through the various booths, eyes catching on all the colorful and sometimes gaudy wares these artists were trying to pedal. Some of them were honestly good, others were just clearly trying to make a quick buck. Danny bought a few things; a few jewelry pieces he thought were cute and a fresh squeezed lemonade.
“Danny?” a woman had spoken up, catching the drummer’s attention. He tensed up at being called out, hoping he wouldn’t be recognized but knowing it was always a possibility every time he left his house.
Schooling his features to be warm and inviting, Daniel turned on his heel to face the woman. She was what Danny could only describe as a “contemporary witch”, complete with long, black hair and a revealing yet classy black dress and a wide-brimmed black hat. Danny had to suppress his scoff at how on the nose she looked, glancing around her clearly witch-themed, yet populated, booth. But, it clearly worked to help sell her goods, so who was he to judge.
“Hey!” he responded, abandoning his wandering and making his way over to her. She smiled widely at him, her eyes lighting up as he approached.
“Oh, my god. My friends are never gonna believe me,” she rushed, her tattooed hands fluttering to her chest.
“How about we get a picture to prove it to them?” he offered, having gone through this enough times over the years to know that that was what most people were after when they spotted him.
She nodded, searching frantically for her phone. When she pulled it out from behind the register, Daniel noticed two things. One; her hands were shaking. Two; her lock screen was a picture of him and Sam posed together. It was a picture of them on stage, embracing and beaming at one another and - wow, is that really what he looks like when he smiles at Sam?
They took their picture, her asking for a hug from him which he happily gave her.
“So, what brings you over this way?” the woman - ironically named Greta - asked, leaning against the table she had set her register up on. Danny worried for a second as her long hair passed over a candle, only for him to realize it wasn’t real.
“Had a free afternoon to myself, thought I’d check the art fair out,” he answered honestly, a shrug of his shoulders tacked on at the end.
She nodded acceptingly. “Find anything interesting?”
Danny held up his fingers, wiggling them to show off the rings he purchased as well as shook his cup of lemonade in front of her, smiling. She laughed, her head tipping back a bit to show off a moth tattoo that rested under her clavicles.
“That’s all, huh? You must be pretty picky.” She looked him up and down, her eyes feeling strangely like they were able to see past his physical form. Danny blamed that on the witch-themed booth she ran.
Danny shrugged again. He didn’t think he was, but then again maybe he was.
“Here,” she blurted out, jumping up from her perch to brush past him to go deeper into her booth. Daniel watched as she stopped in front of a display of bowls that held vials of various shapes and sizes. Each one was sorted by color, some of them even seeming to glow which made Daniel do a double take. There was probably just a light fixed at the base of the bowl to give them that effect.
“On the house,” Greta chirped before tossing something at Daniel. He instinctively caught it, letting out a breath of relief that he had. When he got a proper look at it, Danny realized that she had thrown him a vial of baby pink liquid that had been sealed in a teardrop shaped glass vial. The top was a gradient into Barbie pink and formed to a point, sharp enough to probably kill a man. Daniel turned it over in his hand, the liquid sparkling in the light of the sun streaming in through an opening in the tent he was in.
“What is this?” he dumbly asked, already knowing what the hell it was.
“A love potion,” Greta flippantly answered. When Danny snapped his head up to look at the woman, he saw the mischievous glint in her eye that never reached her soft smile.
Daniel coughed on his own spit as he swallowed wrong. He covered it up by taking a few sips of his lemonade. He had no idea how to react to that.
“Uhh… that’s really kind of you, but I can’t take this.”
“Nonsense. I insist,” she pressed, waving off his concerns with a wave of her hand.
Daniel looked back and forth between the woman and the vial in his hand, weighing the pros and cons. Then he realized how ridiculous he was being. It was a kind gesture and love potions weren’t real.
He tucked the vial into his pocket of his jean jacket and smiled. “Thanks!”
“My pleasure,” she answered, that devilish gleam back in her eye as well as that feeling that she was seeing through him rather than at him, “and trust me, you will be thanking me later.”
That made Daniel chuckle a bit nervously. She was starting to creep him out a bit; time to make a quick exit.
“Right, well. Maybe I’ll see you at one of our upcoming shows!” Danny politely suggested, already backing out the way he had come in.
“Of course! Talk to you later!” Greta’s last sentence sent a shiver up Danny’s spine. It felt like a promise rather than a send off.
With one last quick smile, Danny got his ass out of there and trotted down the booths to get away. He definitely wanted to toss that so-called “love potion” away now. There was no telling what was actually in it. He’d just throw it into the next trash can he saw.
+++
Daniel did not toss it away. Instead, he forgot about it completely and left it in his jacket pocket. It stayed there for a month, silently waiting for the next time someone would wear that jacket and find it.
“Hey, Dan!” Danny was in his kitchen taking some ibuprofen for the headache he was fighting when he heard Sam call out for him.
With a big gulp and a gag he didn’t even try to suppress as he felt the pills catch on the side of his throat, Danny responded with a shout of his own. “Yeah?!”
“Can I borrow a jacket?! It’s cold as balls out and I don’t have one!”
Setting his empty glass of water in the sink, Daniel ran a hand through his curls. Sam had stopped over at Danny’s before the band’s scheduled studio time so the two of them could carpool.
“Yeah!” he shouted back. He went through a mental checklist to make sure he had everything he needed before he left, adding Sam to the bottom of that list.
“What the fuck is this in your pocket?!” Sam called out again, breaking through Danny’s concentration.
“I don’t know! I’m not over there!”
It was quiet again for a moment, Danny quickly going through his checklist again as he passed by his laundry room to grab some socks from the pile.
“Can I drink it?!”
Daniel, starting to get a little frustrated by Sam’s antics already, huffed out in exasperation.
“Go ahead!” he screamed harsher than he had meant to. But, really, how the hell was Daniel meant to know what the fuck Sam was talking about. It probably was a shot of fireball or something he never drank. And if Sam wanted to be tipsy while they recorded… Well, it wouldn’t be the first time.
“It tastes like bubblegum!” Sam excitedly exclaimed, his voice louder as Danny was just around the corner from where he was stationed by the front door.
“That’s great, buddy,” Daniel dismissed, walking past him briefly as he went to grab his sticks from the living room. Doing the pat down on his pockets to make sure he had his keys and wallet, Daniel finally rounded the corner to his front door only to see Sam sprawled out on the ground.
“Sam?” Danny cautiously asked, hoping Sam was just being theatrical over how long Danny was taking to leave.
But then he didn’t answer. Or move, for that matter.
“Sammy?!” Daniel was distraught now, tossing his sticks to the side as he kneeled down next to Sam to shake him.
He still wasn’t stirring, but at least his chest was moving. Daniel frantically searched for a pulse, lifting up his hand to check his wrist. That was when he spotted the nearly empty teardrop shaped vial in Sam’s hand and Danny’s heart sank even further.
“No no no no-” Danny chanted under his breath, pressing his fingers into Sam’s wrist. His heart rate slowed a bit when he was able to feel Sam’s pulse in his fingertips. He sighed deeply, feeling his shoulders sag in relief.
“C’mon, Sammy,” Danny implored, grabbing his friend by the shoulders and began to shake him. It wasn’t hard, but it was enough to make his head loll around his shoulders.
When that didn’t work, Danny bit his lip as his brow knit together. He had an idea, but he’d feel awful for going through with it. With another sigh, Daniel resigned himself to it.
“I’m sorry, Sam,” he murmured, pulling his right hand off the bassist’s shoulder. He reared it back and smacked it smartly against his friend’s cheek. Cringing at how loud the slap resounded in the echo-y chamber of his vestibule, Daniel smoothed his hand back over the pink mark blossoming on Sam’s face.
It worked, to Danny’s utter relief.
Sam’s eyes fluttered open as Daniel caressed his fingers across the angry outline of his hand, groaning as he lifted his hand to his forehead.
“What the hell happened?” Sam grumbled out, sitting up on his own. Danny sat back onto his heels, raking his eyes over Sam to check for any signs of danger.
“You drank the vial in my jacket and passed out, I guess,” Daniel tried to explain, the concern leaking through his tone. Sam still had yet to look at Danny, his eyes having shut once more as he sat fully upright.
Huffing out a laugh, Sam looked at the vial in his hand, a drop of that baby pink liquid slipping out of the opening and splattering onto the floor. He turned it over in his fingers a few times before he spoke again. “Hell of a rush.”
Daniel couldn’t help but snort, his worries easing significantly at the joke. Sam was going to be ok. Maybe a little groggy, but ok. That Greta girl should count herself lucky nothing worse had happened to Sam or else he’d bring down hell around her ears for hurting his best friend.
“Alright, Sam. Let’s get you up or else we’ll be late for studio time,” Danny grunted out as he hauled Sam up to his feet by his arm.
“Right, right,” Sam quietly answered, his hair flying out around him as he shook his head to presumably clear it.
And that was when Sam looked at Danny for the first time since he fell.
“I’m so fucking in love with you.”
+++
“Hey, guys, we might want to reschedule.”
“Yeah? And why is that?” Jake was the first one to look over at Daniel. And when he did, Danny watched as his entire body went rigid as his eyes flew wide open.
“Something wrong- oh my god.” That was Josh, this time. And just like Jake, Josh’s eyes got comically wide as he took in the sight of Danny and Sam.
And Daniel really couldn’t blame them. He’d have the same reaction if he saw his little brother clinging onto his best friend as if his life depended on it.
Sam had long since jumped into Danny’s arms, his arms and legs wrapped around Daniel as if he were a monkey and Daniel his favorite tree. He had refused to get down, Danny having tried to fight him in the parking lot before entering the studio to get him to walk on his own, but Sam was having none of it. Even on the drive over, Sam had tried to climb into Danny’s lap a few times all while gushing about how pretty he thought Danny was. He finally got Sam to stay in his seat after promising to hold his hand as he drove. But as soon as they stepped out of the car, it was no holds barred.
“What the hell is he doing?” Jake asked, his eyes still locked onto his baby brother’s strange behavior.
“I’m holding the love of my life!” Sam answered for Daniel. And if Daniel’s face wasn’t burning before, he was certain it was set ablaze by that. And the worst part was Daniel could tell Sam was using a genuine tone.
He watched the twins look between the two rhythm section members, their lips pursing as they took in the sight. Daniel wanted to hide his face in his hands, but they were currently holding his obnoxious best friend so he couldn’t.
“Oooooooooo-k. Umm, what the fuck is going on?” Josh had abandoned his station at his microphone, setting the equipment down on a chair to his left before he joined Jake at his side.
Danny sighed, his eyes closing in shame. He wanted to look everywhere else but at the twins and their calculating and bewildered gazes.
“You wouldn't believe me if I told you.” Daniel let out a squeak after he spoke, Sam surprising him with kisses he placed on the side of Danny’s neck where his head was nuzzled. He tried to pull away, but Sam just chased after him with his lips.
“Try us,” Josh answered, his arms crossing over his chest as his hip popped out. Jake was idly fiddling with his guitar, probably not even aware that he was playing at all, but his eyes never left Danny.
With a deep sigh, Daniel launched into the story of Greta and her stupid fucking love potion. While he was explaining, he knew his story sounded made up. I mean, for god’s sake, the titular character shared the name of their band. It just sounded like he was caught in a lie. The only thing he knew would work in his favor was the potion vial that he had the foresight of bringing with him.
It was a fight, but Daniel was able to wrangle Sam off of him and set his feet on the floor. However, the man still refused to let go of him completely. So Daniel had to live with Sam resting his head on his shoulder and wrapping his arms around Danny’s torso. With his hands finally free, Daniel was able to fish that vial out of his pocket and toss it over to the twins.
Josh caught it, Jake watching it sail over towards his twin with his eyes. Daniel watched as they inspected it, the baby pink liquid still shimmering in the light. He pointedly ignored Sam and his embarrassing antics. Or, at least he tried to. It was very hard when he kept peppering kisses all over Danny’s cheek and neck as he spoke sweet nothings into his ear. Danny felt shivers dance their way across his skin, his veins warming at all the contact and compliments. But he refused to indulge in them. Sam was not himself right now and he would be damned if he was going to take advantage of him. But, they still felt nice.
After a few seconds of turning over the evil liquid, Josh tossed it back over to Daniel.
“Alright,” Jake started, pulling the cord out of his guitar, “we believe you.”
“Really?” Danny was truly bewildered. He thought the twins were going to think it was some kind of stupid prank they were trying to pull on them. He was actually relieved they did.
“Yeah. We’ve never seen Sam act this way before. Plus he’s a dog shit actor,” Josh answered, a laugh escaping his lips after the last sentence. Danny had to agree; he’d seen the movies Josh had made where Sam was the lead. There weren’t that many.
“Oh, thank god. Because I need help.” Daniel’s tone was desperate, his hands trying to pull Sam’s off his waist. But every time he tried, Sam would just slide them back into place. He eventually gave up, huffing in resignation as Sam giggled in his ear. “Yeah, I’m gonna be honest with you on this one. I don’t know where we’ll even start,” Jake bluntly pointed out, placing his guitar on its stand.
“What if you two try to contact the people who organized the fair and see if you can find the woman who sold me the…” God help him, “...the potion.”
“Yeah, alright. What are you going to do?” Josh was already pulling out his phone, not looking at Danny as he spoke.
“I’m going to see if maybe she posted that picture and contact her that way,” Daniel explained, having to shove Sam’s hips away from his own in order to get his phone from his back pocket.
“Sounds like a plan. But how about we don’t do this here,” Jake posited, his eyes sliding over to where their producer and mixer were watching raptly as Sammy placed yet another series of kisses onto Danny.
They all agreed. They wanted to spare both men as much embarrassment as possible and also minimize the possibility of this leaking and sending the wrong message to their fan base.
Daniel offered up his house considering it was the closest.
“And I’ll drive lovebug here, too.” Danny hooked his thumb towards where Sammy’s face was pressed into the side of Danny’s, a dopey smile on his face as he nuzzled deeper into Danny.
“I don’t think you have a choice,” Josh so helpfully pointed out, trying poorly to suppress a laugh.
“Yeah, ha ha. Let’s go,” Daniel sharply ordered, trying once more to rip Sam’s arms off of him and failing.
“No, no, wait. Let us get one video for blackmail,” Jake quickly requested, already having his phone out and pointed at the two.
Danny, knowing that there was no way they’d relent, groaned and let Jake record his misery.
“Alright, Sammy. Tell us how you feel about Daniel,” Jake prompted, the laugh in his voice barely contained. The youngest perked up at the question, his smile getting brighter.
“Well, where do I even begin! There’s so much I feel about him,” Sam cooed, resting his chin against Danny’s shoulder as he spoke. Danny felt Sam’s hair slip off his own shoulder as Sam tilted his head to get a better look at Danny.
“Why don’t you start with the physical,” Josh, that bastard, piped up. Danny shot him a glare, Josh only responding with an “innocent” smile.
“Oh! That’s easy! He’s got these beautiful dark eyes that you can easily get lost in. They’re this gorgeous shade of amber brown that have this nice green in them that remind me of moss in the forest. Oh! And when they catch the light just right they’re so bright and I get butterflies. And speaking of butterflies, when he smiles at me I can’t help but feel like I’m going to pass out from how beautifully warm and overwhelming it is-”
“Alright,” Danny squeaked out, his voice cracking as his face began to heat up, “that’s enough.”
“No, no, we’re just getting to the good part. Sam, what else about Danny do you like?” Danny bared his teeth at Jake. He knew it was ineffective, what, with his face burning as bright as a stop light.
“Oh, his arms are really nice. I love it when he picks me up because then I can feel them flexing and it makes me all dizzy.” Sam’s voice was dripping in honey. It was so sweet it made Danny’s stomach ache.
“Really? And what about his freckles?”
“One of his best features, definitely. They get all dark and prominent in the summer when he gets more sun. He’s got 137 of them!”
“Alright that’s-”
“And what about Danny’s personality?”
“He’s the sweetest guy ever! I swear, he’s so sweet he gives me cavities. Like this one time, I was feeling really down in the dumps and then Danny went out of his way to get me a case of my favorite beer and made me laugh so hard I nearly pissed myself. He just knows me sooooo well. And also he takes care of Rose the best and he is always so gentle and loving with her… what isn’t there to love?”
“Ok, show’s over. We’re done here,” Daniel firmly decided, reaching out to yank Jake’s phone away from him and end the recording, holding it out of Jake’s reach as he tried to grab it back from him.
Danny tossed it back at him when he was done, watching the guitarist nearly fumble the device to the ground. He shot Danny a confused look at his shift in mood, but he didn’t respond. He simply held onto Sam’s arms as he turned the two of them around and made for the door.
As they walked to the car, Daniel pointedly did not think about the fact that Sam apparently just seemed to know how many freckles Danny had off the top of his head. Or how that made his heart flutter within his chest.
+++
The car ride back was considerably less dangerous than the drive over; Sam hadn’t tried to climb into Danny’s lap since he preemptively laced their fingers together. However, Sammy hadn’t stopped talking. And it wasn’t his usual babbling, no. It was much worse.
“I love you.”
“I know.”
“I love you.”
“I know.” The shock of it had worn off at the thirtieth time Sammy had confessed it to Danny, that first time making the drummer jump out of his skin. Now it was just getting annoying, like the beep of a smoke detector.
“You’re really hot,” Sam giggled, leaning his head across the consul and bumping it into Danny’s shoulder.
Danny just groaned, throwing his head into the headrest behind him and asking god what he did wrong to deserve this cruel and unusual punishment. It was one thing to toy with his destiny, it was another entirely to play around with his emotions.
“I hope we fucking crash,” he whined, the light turning green and taking his foot off the brake.
“I hope we fuck.”
Daniel felt his foot involuntarily slam down on the gas, forcing the both of them to jerk back in their seats as the engine loudly revved like an animal letting out a warning growl. Danny whipped his head over to Sam briefly, taking in his lashes batting flirtatiously and his wolfish grin. The driver felt his heart pounding in his chest, ripping his eyes away from his distracting passenger and forcing himself to look at the road.
“What?” he croaked out, not really wanting to hear it again but also wanting to know if he heard Sam right.
“You heard me,” was all Sam spoke in response, a dangerously flirtatious edge to his words that made Danny’s heart lurch in his chest.
“Just… Just keep those thoughts to yourself, ok?”
“Ok!” Sam cheerfully agreed, settling back down onto Danny’s shoulder. That was another thing about this that was driving Daniel slowly insane: Sam did almost everything Danny asked of him.
He was so, utterly fucked.
+++
“Ok, so Greta must be a popular name among artists or something because the fair organizer said there were about thirty booths registered under that name,” Jake explained after hanging up the phone. He tapped his pen on the pad of paper he’d been writing on idly, turned towards Danny’s spot on his couch. Sammy had tackled him onto it, curling up right against his chest like an oversized dog and refused to move.
“Did she give you the list of businesses, too?” Danny asked, having to crane his neck to look over at Jake.
“Yeah, and I was able to cross off a few of them already,” Jake answered, swiping away at his phone again.
“Nice work,” Danny praised, his eyes darting back to his phone. He and Josh had taken on scrolling through Danny’s instagram mentions in order to try and find the famed Greta. And, Jesus, people really loved tagging him in shit. They had been at it for hours and were still only finding posts from about two weeks ago.
“Is this her?” Josh hoisted his phone up into Danny’s field of view. Danny squinted as he analyzed the woman’s face.
“No,” he groaned, his frustration mounting as they had zero luck.
It wasn’t that he didn’t like Sam like this, it was just… It was too much. Yeah, maybe Danny had been dreaming about this exact scenario for years, but this wasn’t how he wanted to get it. He’d felt guilt slam into him with every touch Sam bestowed upon him as he remembered that Sam wasn’t in control of his actions. It was that stupid fucking potion that was making Sam all cuddly and cute; the normal Sam would never do that. The normal Sam wouldn’t repeatedly confess his love for Danny in a myriad of ways, or kiss his neck and cheeks, or cling to him every second of the day. No matter how badly Danny wanted it to be true, Sam just wasn’t in love with Danny like the drummer was in love with the bassist.
And that was the time that Sam decided to stir just enough to burrow deeper into his embrace with Daniel, grumbling something under his breath that was reminiscent of a cat purring. And just like it never happened, Sam fell back asleep again. Danny watched for a bit too long as Sam’s chest rose and fell with each even breath he took, his face held in a content smile as he dreamed away.
“Man, I haven’t seen him curled up with someone like that since we were kids,” Josh commented, taking a break from his endless scrolling to crack his neck and stretch. He had watched the whole thing, Sam’s stirring and Daniel’s flush creeping onto his face as he gazed down at the cozy bass player.
“What do you mean?” Danny had moved his own phone out of the way to properly look at Josh. The man had taken to sitting on the floor with his back against the couch that Sam and Danny were laying on.
“The last time he looked that content while sleeping was probably when he was about eight-ish; that was when he stopped taking naps with mom,” the singer explained, his eyes cast upwards as if searching the farthest reaches of his mind.
“What, are you calling me his mother?” Daniel felt his face pinch into one of disgust as he remembered what Sam had sprung on him during the ride over.
“No, what he’s saying is Sam has always liked to cuddle, but only feels comfortable doing it with certain people,” Jake clarified, not even bothering to look up from his notepad.
“Yeah, he’s never done that with us. And, now that I think about it, he’s never done that with his girlfriends, either. At least, from what I’ve seen, anyway,” Josh added, rambling just a tad at the end. He even brought his hand up to his chin as he thought, his fingers stroking the hair on it absently.
Daniel had no idea what to do with that particular bit of information, so he elected to shove it into his mental box labeled “The Sam Incident” to be ignored until further notice. It was starting to become alarmingly full.
He went back to his scrolling, his eyes beginning to burn with how long he’d been staring at the screen. He wasn’t aware that he’d taken to running his fingers through Sam’s hair and absently playing with it as he focused on finding the proverbial needle in a haystack.
Right when he was about to take a break and grab something to eat, he spotted her.
“AHA!” he exclaimed, bolting upright and rudely jolting Sam out of his peaceful slumber. The bassist even grumbled, rubbing at his eyes and shooting a grumpy look at his personal pillow for the violent awakening. Danny felt the sympathy ache in his chest for Sam, rubbing a soothing and apologetic hand over Sam’s arm. Though, with how frizzy and staticky his hair looked, Daniel had to bite his lip to keep from laughing at Sam.
“You found her?” the twins asked simultaneously, Danny feeling briefly like he was in The Shining as they both gave him the same expression as he looked between them.
Daniel nodded his head, turning his phone around to show the others. Sam took the opportunity to sleepily and unceremoniously flop himself down against the drummer’s chest face first, wrapping his arms around his waist. Danny instinctively placed his hand onto his back to steady him, rubbing it as Sam mumbled something into his chest that Danny could not understand.
“Well, what are we waiting for?” Jake, ever the impatient one, urged Daniel. He pushed away from the table he was stationed at, making his way over to lean over the back of the couch to watch the drummer’s screen.
danielrwagner: Hey, so uhhh
danielrwagner: This is going to be a strange question but
danielrwagner: Are you the woman who gave me a vial at an art show a month or so back?
Daniel had set his phone down onto the couch, figuring he’d have to wait a while for a response - if he ever got one, that is. What he didn’t expect was for his phone to buzz almost immediately afterwards.
StarshineGreta: Hi Danny!
StarshineGreta: Yes, that was me
StarshineGreta: Why did someone drink it?
danielrwagner: Yeah
StarshineGreta: Who was it?
Daniel swallowed nervously, glancing down at Sammy who was still wedged into his chest and showing no signs that he was moving anytime soon.
danielrwagner: …Sam
Call from StarshineGreta
“Guys, what should I do?” Daniel panicked, his heart rate kicking up in speed inside his chest as his ringtone started to cheerfully chirp in his hand. He frantically looked back and forth between the twins, looking for their help.
“Answer it!” Josh screeched, his thunderous voice that Daniel normally heard echoing through stadium speakers just as loud and commanding in his living room.
With a nervous bite of his lip, Danny did as he was told.
“Hey, Greta. Just so you know, you're on speaker with… with the whole band,” Daniel greeted, making sure to give her the courtesy of knowing that everyone could hear her. But, it seemed that she didn’t even register what he had said. Instead, she launched right into it.
“Alright, how long ago did he drink it and what are his symptoms?” Her voice was nearly clinical if it weren’t for the clear enthusiasm dripping off her words.
“He drank it at about ten this morning-”
“And he’s acting like a lovesick puppy and won’t leave Daniel alone,” Josh interjected, leaning over so that he was closer to the phone to be heard. Though that wasn’t really necessary since the man had shouted, anyway.
“Yeah, Sam won’t stop touching and cuddling him and if he tells him to quit it he gets all mopey and sad,” Jake added, flashing Danny a grin that Daniel merely glared at. She really didn’t need to know all that.
The beat of silence that followed made Danny’s nerves spike into the stratosphere. What he didn’t know was that Greta had merely muted her own mic so that she could laugh as boisterously as she wanted to without being heard.
“Interesting. And how much did he drink?”
“Pretty much the whole thing. There’s about an eighth or so left in the bottle, I’d guess,” Daniel informed, feeling as if the vial in his pocket got heavier as he thought about it.
“Wow. Ok, wow. No wonder he’s so clingy,” Greta replied, her surprise seeping into her tone.
“I wouldn’t call him that-”
“Dan. Try standing up.”
Giving Jake a disgruntled look, Daniel tried exactly as suggested. As he did, Sam’s arms tightened around Sam and pulled him back down towards him. “Nooooooooo,” he had whined out in protest, his brow knitting together in a grumpy frown once more as he looked up at Danny through his lashes.
“No,” he said again, this time more firm and accented by Sam’s grip readjusting around Danny’s ribs to pull himself even tighter against Danny’s chest.
When Daniel looked over at the younger twin, he was met with a small yet smug smile of victory.
“Shut up,” he lamely shot back, wanting to cross his arms over his chest but being prevented by a certain bass player. Instead, he just settled his free arm back onto Sam’s back right below where his hair stopped in the middle of his spine.
“Is it a problem that he drank so much?” Josh asked, completely ignoring the exchange that happened between Jake and Daniel.
“Not really, no. The effects will just be stronger than if he had just drank the recommended amount,” Greta explained.
“Will it last longer?” Daniel quickly interjected, the horrifying thought of having to deal with Sam acting like this for a month causing panic to lance through his heart.
“I don’t think so. Maybe a few extra hours, but it should be worn off by tomorrow evening.”
“And how come your potion actually works? Like, why isn’t yours bullshit like the other ‘love potions’ out there?” Jake so delicately questioned.
“Normally, most of mine are but… well…” Daniel did not like how her tone shifted from confident to apprehensive, “I won’t sugar coat it. The potions I make are meant to amplify what emotions are already inside someone. They can’t manufacture love or hate or happiness if they don’t already exist in the person who drank it.”
After she finished her explanation, the room went silent. Daniel felt as if his mind was beginning to overheat inside his skull as he tried to process the information she had just dropped onto them.
“I don’t get it,” Daniel croaked out, feeling as if his mind was halting all function as he stared blankly down at his phone.
“Do you have that potion on you?” Greta’s voice wasn’t scheming, per say, but it was clear she had a plan.
Daniel dug into his front pocket, fishing out the aforementioned vial. He held it up into the air, looking at it and wondering how something so unassuming could flip his world on its axis.
Before the drummer could even respond to Greta, Jake had swiped it out of his hand so quickly Danny could only blink dumbly at the man.
“Josh!” he called before tossing it towards the man.
“Wait-” was all Daniel could get out before the singer had uncapped the vial and tossed it back like it was a shot.
“Ooh, bubblegum flavored,” Josh cooed after he swallowed, flipping the vial in his hand after he replaced the cap.
Daniel just sat frozen in place. Great, now he was going to have to deal with two Kiszkas attached to his hip at all times and he wasn’t going to be able to do anything-
“How ya feeling, Josh?” Jake had asked in a voice reminiscent of a gameshow host from the 70s.
“Honestly, Jake, I feel no different. Daniel, I love you, man, but not like that,” Josh answered, pointing at his little brother curled up into Danny’s chest like an overgrown cat to prove his point.
“So, that means…” Jake prompted, holding out his hand as if to cue Daniel to understand. It didn’t work.
“I still don’t get it. And now I’ll have two of you on top of me-”
“Oh my god,” Josh impatiently groaned, tossing his head back in frustration as he scrubbed a hand down his face.
“Jesus, you’re dumb, Dan,” Jake added, exasperation of his own causing him to pinch the bridge of his nose as he shook his head.
“I’m sure he’ll figure it out eventually,” Greta optimistically offered, her voice cutting through the groaning from the twins.
“But, wait, what should I do? Is there anything I can do to help Sam? Or, like, cure him?” Danny inquired, electing to ignore the twins and their antics.
“You’re just going to have to wait it out,” Greta answered, her voice not even remotely sympathetic to Danny’s plight.
“Thanks for the insight, Greta.” Jake leaned in towards the phone again, giving it a two fingered salute.
“Yeah, and thank you for the free blackmail!” Josh was smiling as he waved at the phone, his tone chipper and not at all matching the devious words he spoke.
“Any time, boys!”
And with that, the call had ended.
“Well, we best get going,” Josh sighed as he got to his feet, stretching his arms over his head.
“Yep. Seems like you and Sam need some time to yourselves.” Jake had playfully nudged his baby brother on the shoulder with his hand, Sam only responding with a half-hearted grunt of annoyance at being jostled.
“Wait, hold on-”
“Goodbye, lovebirds!”
With a slam of the door that carried with it a sense of finality, Daniel was left alone with a love-drugged Sam. In his house. Alone.
“I thought they’d never leave,” Sam yawned, mimicking his older brother from earlier as he stretched his arms above his head, his face pinching together as he did so. Daniel pointedly did not look at the sliver of tan skin the bassist exposed above his waistband as he stretched, a playful teasing of his happy trail poking out briefly.
“Uh, what?”
“The twins! I thought they wouldn’t take the hint,” Sam playfully implied, his hands tracing up from their perch on Daniel’s stomach to his pecs. And that was when he realized that Sammy was straddling his hips and looming above him with a look in his eye and a smirk on his lips that was anything but innocent.
Danny was stuck in his position on the couch, feeling like those butterflies they displayed in glass with those pins that pierced through their wings stabbing through his own limbs. He felt frozen, caught between his own animalistic desire and his morality; the angel and devil on his shoulders waging a war.
“Are you hungry?” Daniel squeaked out, his voice breaking as he shoved Sam off of him and bolted off the couch. He felt like his face was on fire as the rest of his skin prickled with its own heat. He stood himself on the opposite side of the room, all but pressing his back to the wall. He didn’t care what that witch or the twins said; Sammy would never do that.
He’s not himself.
Once Sam recovered from Danny tossing him into the couch, Sam turned those sultry eyes back onto the drummer. “Yeah. For you.”
Daniel gulped. Sam’s voice had purred out of his lips, matching the very clear bedroom eyes he was shooting Daniel. And Danny was not liking how his body was reacting to that.
“I’ll order sushi,” Daniel quickly stated before bolting out of the room and away from Sam as fast as he could.
+++
Dinner was an ordeal. Daniel had to essentially manipulate Sammy into eating, which made him feel like garbage. But, he tried to reassure himself by saying it was for Sam’s own good. And if Danny had to use his powers of suggestion over Sam to do it, then it was just a means to an end. To be fair, it wasn’t like he was forcing Sam to do something like make out with Danny or anything like that. It was just getting him to eat his goddamn sushi.
It also didn’t help that Sam had scooched his chair right up beside Danny’s and would move closer to him each time Danny had tried to move away. And then Sam had tried to feed Danny his food. Which was… an experience.
“C’moooooooooon Danny! It’ll be cute like Lady and the Tramp!” Sam whined, waving his chopsticks in the air.
Daniel, knowing his willpower against Sam was weakening, relented. He huffed out a “fine” and half-heartedly opened his mouth. Sam squealed excitedly before gently picking up a roll with his chopsticks and placing it between Danny’s lips. Daniel figured the pain of Sam’s nagging was worth the pleasure of seeing his brilliantly excited smile as Daniel chewed his sushi.
“Ok, ok, now me!” Sam exclaimed, setting down his chopsticks before opening his mouth wide and sticking out his tongue like he was about to get his tonsils checked.
With an exasperated yet fond sigh, Daniel selected a sushi roll and brought it up to Sam, cupping a hand underneath it to catch it if it fell. As he placed the sushi on Sam’s tongue, Daniel made the mistake of looking his friend in the eyes. When he did, his breath hitched inside his throat. Daniel could feel as the air around them crackled with a charged energy that sparked to life as their gazes met. And Daniel felt himself unable to tear his eyes away from Sam as he slowly pulled his chopsticks away.
When Sam slipped the food into his mouth and began to chew, that was when Daniel was able to look away.
That was a few hours ago. The two of them were once again cuddled up on Danny’s couch, Sam trying his absolute best to get every part of his body touching every part of Daniel’s. They had thrown on a crime procedural show; Bones or Law & Order, Daniel didn’t know. He was far too distracted by how Sam kept attempting to get Danny to kiss him or let him blow him or an assortment of other things that made his face glow bright red.
He’s not in his right mind, Daniel had to keep reminding himself. And he would not break to love-drugged Sam no matter how many times he would flash Danny those puppy eyes that would normally make him fold like a house of cards under a slight breeze.
“Daaaaaaaanyyyyyyyyyy,” Sam sang, wiggling himself onto Danny’s lap in order to plant himself right in front of Daniel’s field of view. He would no longer be ignored, despite the fact that Sam had always had Danny’s full attention; he just was acting as though he hadn’t.
“Sam, I’m trying to watch this,” Daniel weakly protested. He had no idea what the plot of the episode was, much less the actual name of the show.
“Watch me instead,” Sam whined, his shoulders slouching as he theatrically threw his head back in frustration, “you’ve been ignoring me all day.”
“That’s not true-”
“It’s like you don’t love me.” And that was what finally caused Daniel to break his facade. He looked Sam right in the eyes, taking in the pout of his lips and the dejected nature of his eyes. Daniel isn’t ashamed to admit that he felt his chest ache at the sight. There was genuine heartbreak in Sammy’s eyes that did nothing to quell the guilt that had been thrumming through Daniel’s veins all day.
Sam could not have been further from the truth, really. Daniel did love Sam. Like, embarrassingly so. He felt it swelling in his chest every second that he spent with Sam, even when he wasn’t with him. Actually, that was when he felt it the most, when Sam wasn’t with him. Those were the moments when he found himself wishing for the man to be near, feeling his heart long for his calming and wonderful presence.
But, he knew Sam didn’t feel that way about Daniel. Danny knew Sam the best out of everyone on earth; he’d be able to tell who Sam was in love with. It wasn’t Daniel.
“That-That’s not…” Danny didn’t know how to answer that. He really didn’t. He had no idea if Sam would remember anything from this after the potion wore off. He really did not want to risk the most precious thing in his life.
Instead, Daniel just gently lowered Sam’s head down into the crook of his neck, wrapping his arms around Sam in order to pull him as tightly against his chest as he could. If he couldn’t say it, he’d show it.
Sam calmed down after that, apparently perfectly content to just exist inside of Danny’s personal space. It wasn’t long after that Daniel felt drowsiness creep up on him. Despite not doing much moving around considering the human ball and chain known as Samuel Kiszka was attached to him all day prevented that, he was still exhausted. Emotionally, that is. Who knew having the love of your life falsely confessing his love for you would be so draining? Danny sure didn’t.
“Alright,” Danny yawned, reaching for the remote to turn off the tv, “time for bed.”
“Carry me,” Sam murmured, already half asleep against Danny.
“Sam…” Daniel protested with a sigh, knowing that he was going to anyway but hoping Sam would change his mind.
“Please, baby,” the bassist whined, moving his head so that one eye poked out from his curtain of hair to give Danny that wretched Puppy Look.
Like the whipped man that he was, Danny just sighed as his shoulders sagged in defeat. After shuffling around Sam’s limbs to better fit around Danny as he stood, Daniel walked the two of them up to his bedroom. Danny decidedly did not think about what this would look like to an outsider.
“When did you get so heavy,” Danny grunted halfway up the stairs.
“It’s not nice to comment on a lady’s weight,” Sam shot back, his face still completely nuzzled into Danny’s neck. The breath of his words made Daniel have to suppress a shiver.
“Oh, I didn’t know I was talking to a lady.”
Sam giggled, the vibrant and gorgeous sound making Danny’s heart soar.
Jesus, he was so doomed.
+++
It had taken some master level bargaining on Daniel’s part, but he was able to convince Sam to leave him alone long enough so that they could each finish their nighttime routines. Daniel had just loaned Sam a pair of his sleep shorts and a shirt to use as pajamas; the shorts were just a bit too big on Sam and caused the waistband to sit dangerously low on his hips. Daniel found himself having to force his eyes to focus on anything other than that sliver of skin on Sam’s abdomen, which was an incredibly hard task.
Daniel was far from surprised when Sam had climbed into the bed next to him and proceeded to wrap all of his limbs around Danny. It was like the man had managed to find the exact places where he would fit perfectly against Danny like he was meant to be there. Frankly, it was driving Daniel mad.
“Don’t I get a kiss goodnight?” Sam hummed directly into the drummer’s ear, able to feel the vibrations in his best friend’s chest that was pressed into his side.
The question made Danny sigh. He knew what would happen if he said no.
“You’re going to keep going until I snap or give in, won’t you?” Daniel addressed the ceiling, unsure if he was speaking to Sam or god at this point.
“Yep,” Sam replied, popping the P in the word. Daniel could hear the mischievous smile in his words.
Now, it was just a matter of weighing Daniel’s conscience against his desire to get some goddamn rest. And, well, he’d be lying if he said he didn’t want to kiss Sam. But, once again, not like this. But… well, it wasn’t like they hadn’t kissed before. It happened a few years ago when they were both drunk; the both of them had laughed it off afterwards, but neither of them spoke of it again. Danny was sure that if he had explained to Sam that he was only doing it to get him to relent so that he could sleep, Sam would understand. Hell, this would be far from the first time Danny had done something Sam had asked of him to get him to shut up so he could sleep.
“Fine,” Daniel had begrudgingly agreed, the word sighed out. But, before he could tell Sam that he was only going to get a quick peck and nothing else, Sam had pounced.
Danny’s cries of protest had been drowned out by the press of Sam’s unfairly soft lips, his facial hair not an unpleasant bristle against his skin. But, no matter how good it felt, Danny couldn’t allow this to continue. There was just one small problem: Sam had managed to snake his hands from where they had wrapped around Danny’s torso to his head. He felt those lithe fingers weave their way into his curls, locking him in place like a boa constrictor did with their prey. No matter how… how hot that was, Daniel was the one in his right mind. He was the one responsible for his own action, so that meant he had to… to… oh, dear lord, Sam’s tongue was soft; feeling like the finest velvet money could buy. It beckoned Daniel’s own tongue, gently pleading with it to slip inside Sam’s mouth. And, truly, who was Danny to argue? And, god forgive him, Sam’s mouth was so warm and inviting, it should be a sin.
Daniel blames his fixation on Sam’s mouth for the reason he failed to notice just how long their kiss had lasted. What finally broke him out of his trance was when Sam’s thigh slipped its way between Daniel’s own, brushing against his interested dick and pulling a surprised yelp from his lips.
Fighting against Sam’s, admittedly strong, grip on his hair, Daniel pulled away from Sam. He made sure to physically push away Sam’s thigh from its spot between Danny’s legs, knowing that should have been his first act. He was out of breath; another indicator for just how he had failed to be responsible. And looking into Sam’s confused and hurt eyes did nothing to help the guilt mushrooming within his chest.
“You’ll thank me later,” Daniel explained, even sounding out of breath as he tried to put as much distance between himself and Sam as the love-drugged man would allow. Or you’ll hate me later.
“But what about here and now?” Sam whined, closing the precious distance Danny had built up.
“You got what you wanted-” and fucking then some, “-just go to sleep.”
“Daaaaaaaan-”
“Go to sleep, Sam.” Daniel snapped, immediately regretting his tone as soon as he saw the genuine hurt in those amber eyes.
With a scowl, Sam settled down into the sheets. What hurt the most, though, was when Sam had retracted all of his limbs from where they intertwined with Daniel’s, flipping on his side to face away from his best friend. Despite having wished for it all day, Danny had no idea it would hurt so fucking much.
Even though he wanted to so fucking badly, Daniel did not reconcile the situation. It was for the best, he had to tell himself. This way, Daniel would be able to actually sleep and Sam wouldn’t be as weirded out towards Danny when he inevitably snapped out of this spell.
It was for the best.
Then why does it feel so wrong?
+++
Daniel had gotten no sleep.
Despite how much he tried, it seemed that every time he closed his eyes he was met by the image of Sammy’s disappointed face. He knew, deep down, that it was the right thing for him to do, to push Sam away like that. But that really was a thin comfort when the hurt in Sam’s eyes before he disentangled himself from Danny was still playing on loop in his head. Isn’t that what he had been trying to avoid this whole time? Hurting Sam? And, somehow, he had managed to do just that. It was frustrating and exhausting and Danny just wanted to get some fucking sleep.
Through the night, however, Sam had managed to intertwine himself once more with Danny. It felt like a hollow victory. And when he eventually, slowly, woke up, Sam had seemed to be completely over their spat from the night prior.
He had simply stretched his arms over his head, his hair a mess of tangles and static, and asked Daniel about breakfast. How Danny had wished that he could just brush off what happened the night prior.
The rest of the day had happened much like the day before; Sam refusing to let Danny stray too far from his touch. It had been inconvenient as Danny tried to go about his day with another person attached to him at the hip. However, he was able to adapt by lunch time. Sammy was still whispering things in his ear that made his blood simmer in his veins and did nothing to suppress his guilt at what images and scenarios his brain supplied him with.
Daniel had resigned himself to the fact that his day now would revolve around Sam entirely. He had wanted to go to the grocery store to restock his fridge that was becoming barren, but he knew there was the possibility that someone would recognize the two of them and their… compromising position.
So, instead of going out and being productive like he had wanted to, he sequestered the two of them to his house. They settled on a Harry Potter marathon, Daniel once again unable to focus on the screen whatsoever with Sam pawing at him continuously. Daniel had ordered food and plopped the two of them on the couch.
By the fourth movie, Sam had fallen asleep in Danny’s lap. Daniel, now with those doe eyes off of him, felt that he was finally able to end his guise of watching the screen. It had reached the late afternoon, that golden light sun streaming in through the windows of his living room and highlighting the lazy dust mites floating in the air. Most devastatingly, however, was how that sun had focused on Sammy’s profile. The man looked angelic, ethereal in a way that should not be feasible for a mortal. His hair glowed a golden hue, making it look like a halo was crowned onto his head. It made Danny’s heart ache within his chest.
Daniel had been so distracted by how gorgeous his best friend looked that he failed to really notice that Sammy was beginning to wake up.
“Daniel?” Sam’s voice was gravelly again. Danny felt his eyes focus on Sam’s, snapping him back into his own mind.
“Sam?”
“Wh… What happened?” Sam had lifted himself off of Danny’s chest, sliding a hand from where it rested on the small of Danny’s back to grab at his head. He blinked rapidly, sweeping his eyes around the room as if it was foreign to him with a grimace on his face.
“How much do you remember?”
There was a pause before Sam responded, his eyes sliding their focus in on Danny’s. “Remember? Dan, I’m not missing any time.”
And if that didn’t make Daniel’s blood run cold.
“So… So…” Danny couldn’t spit it out. No matter how much he wanted to, he just couldn’t say that Sam knew everything. That would make it real.
“So… what happened?” Sam prompted again, seeming to be more lucid with each passing second.
Danny involuntarily gulped, feeling a cold sweat breaking out across his skin. Why was he so nervous? It wasn’t that hard to say what happened; he already told the twins. So why the hell was it so difficult to look Sam in the eye.
“You… You remember that vial from my jacket that you drank?”
“Mhm, tasted like bubblegum.”
“...Yeah. Well, that uhh…”
Oh, for fucks sake! Just say it!
“It was a love potion,” Daniel rushed out, the words all mushing together to sound like one long word.
Another beat of silence passed between the two, Sam staring down at Daniel from his perch in his lap and Daniel looking everywhere he could that wasn’t Sam’s eyes. He really wished Sam would move, it would at least help the raging blush on his cheeks. At least slightly.
“Oh, sick!!”
Finally, Daniel looked Sam in the eye. Of all the ways he had forecasted that Sam would react to that information, enthusiasm and whimsy was not even on the list. He had expected Sam to get awkward, to politely remove himself from Danny’s touch and make an exit as quickly as possible. He had far from expected Sam to link his hands behind Danny’s neck and eagerly inquire about the potion.
“Dude, that’s so cool! You know what this means, don’t you??”
“...No?”
“Magic is real! And we just proved it!!” Sam’s smile was huge, bright enough to outshine the sun.
“Sam-”
“So, like, how does it actually work? Like, I remember that conversation we had with the witch about it only affecting those who already are in love, or whatever, but did she say the actual mechanics of how it worked? Like, is there a special ingredient that it needs to work?” Sam reminded Danny of a puppy in that moment. His eyes were bright and full of enthusiasm, his entire body buzzing with an energy that made it impossible for him to sit still.
This time, it was Daniel who failed to give a timely response. His mind was too busy reeling over what Sam had glossed over during his rambling to properly process the man’s question. Realizing that the reason Sam was looking at him so expectantly was due to him waiting on the drummer, Danny shook his head to force it to work.
“H-Hold on,” he began, taking a hand that had rested on Sam’s waist and bringing it up to his forehead, “you… you remember that conversation?? You were asleep!!”
Danny hadn’t meant for his voice to come out like a screech, however he was just so damn confused that he really couldn’t focus the brain power on proper speech etiquette.
“What?” Now it was Sam’s turn to knit his brow in confusion. “Oh, yeah! No, I was just faking it. It’s an old trick I pull out sometimes to get out of work; I started doing it so that Jake, Josh, and Ronnie were stuck doing chores instead of me.”
Daniel felt like he was losing his mind. How was Sam so goddamn chipper about this??
“Ok. Ok. Oh my god.” Daniel forced himself to take a breath. It felt as if his entire world was crumbling beneath his feet and his brain was struggling to keep up with the rapidly shifting terrain.
“So, you remember that whole conversation.” It wasn’t a question, though Danny had intended it to be.
“Yep!” Danny felt a piece of his soul die at the chipper tone Sam used. He elected to ignore it.
“And… that means you understand how it actually works…”
“Apparently better than you did, Danny Boy,” Sam snarked, a playful grin that bordered on flirtatious spreading across his lips.
Danny could only stare incredulously at Sam.
“And you’re ok with it??”
“...Yeah,” Sam answered slowly, “I already knew I was in love with you.”
And that, right there, was how Daniel Wagner died. In retrospect, he had a good go of it. He was able to follow his dreams, be a rockstar. If he had to pick one, he’d say his one regret in life was ever befriending Samuel fucking Kiszka. It would have saved his life, after all.
“Danny?”
Sammy’s voice snapped him out of his cardiac arrest, pulling him back to the present.
“Y-You… You…” Once again, Daniel felt like his brain was melting out of his head and pouring out of his ears. This can’t be real. Like, it just can’t. “You already… me??”
“Yeah…” Sammy was looking at him strangely, as if Danny were the one acting weird.
“You realize what you just told me, right??”
“I don’t understand why you’re acting so surprised. You already knew this.”
Danny tried to follow Sam’s logic in his head, he really did. He was still under the spell. He had to be. It was the only way Sam’s behavior made any sense to him.
“Sam… you were drugged, ok? I don’t know exactly how, but those… your… actions were not your own,” Danny tried to explain, careful and gentle as possible.
Then, it was as if a lightbulb went off inside Sam’s head. Daniel felt relief hit him; finally Sam got it. They could move past this and save their friendship.
“Daniel, look at me,” Sammy slid his hands from behind Daniel’s neck to rest them on the sides of his face, positioning it so that Danny had to look at him, “I am not under any spell right now. I am in my sane mind, do you get me?”
Danny opened his mouth to speak, but Sam cut him off before he had the ability to protest.
“I am so fucking in love with you. Like, so fucking in love it’s probably illegal. And that was why the potion worked. Because I am in love with you. If I wasn’t, it wouldn’t have worked at all… do you understand what I am telling you in very clear, not-able-to-be-misinterpreted words?” Sam had said every sentence slowly and with a gravity to it that left no room for debate. They were spoken as fact; as law. Just how energy cannot be created nor destroyed, Sam Kiszka was in love with Daniel Wagner.
Yet Daniel still had a hard time grasping the concept.
“But… all that… that cuddling and-and kissing and all that… you’ve never acted that way before,” Daniel reasoned, believing this to be the work of the potion and hard evidence to support that belief.
Sam just laughed, the noise warming up the ice that had frozen in Danny’s veins.
“I always wanna kiss you, Daniel. The only reason I hadn’t yet was because I didn’t think you wanted me that way. And before you try and say it was the potion forcing me, it just never occurred to me to not act upon my feelings.”
Danny was still apprehensive, unable to fully grapple with the concept that Sam wanted to kiss him at all times. But, he was beginning to see what everyone had been telling him the past 24 hours.
“...Prove it.”
With nothing but a quick “ok” spoken under his breath, Sam wasted no time launching forward and locking his lips with Danny’s. His hands slid from Danny’s cheeks to the back of his head, manipulating it so that Sam could tip it back and deepen the kiss. Once again, Danny felt dizzy. But, unlike the other kiss the two of them shared last night, this one was quick and urgent. Sam had something to prove and he was not about to let Daniel walk away from this without getting his point through Danny’s thick skull.
It was Sam who eventually pulled away, having to gasp for air.
“Holy shit,” Danny panted, his head feeling woozy as he took in the sight of his best friend looking absolutely ruined, yet giddy just from his lips.
“Yeah,” Sam breathed in response, his smile turning dopey as he laughed.
“You… You love me…”
Danny watched in real time the excitement and shock that flooded Sam’s eyes.
“Oh, thank fucking god,” Sam quickly uttered, throwing his head back, “YOU FINALLY GET IT!” Sam had taken to shaking Danny by the shoulders.
“That’s actually great news because I’m also in love with you,” Daniel admitted, a giddiness of his own flooding his veins at finally being able to say those words out loud to Sam.
“I would fucking hope so, you dense idiot.” There was no malice in Sam’s words. Quite the opposite, really. He had leaned back down onto Danny’s chest, burying his face into Danny’s neck as they embraced.
“Wait… when did you-”
“Truthfully? When we graduated.”
Daniel started to process what that meant. Since we graduated…
“YOU MEAN WE ACTUALLY COULD’VE FUCKED THIS WHOLE TIME??”

He can feel Dream hovering nearby, probably wishing he could get properly sloshed like Hob but knew he was driving them home tonight. Hob always appreciates his husband for coming along as his plus one to events like this, staff parties and events he’d been invited to, especially since he knows Dream hates it.
This time it’s a wedding. The ceremony had been lovely but now the reception was well along enough for Hob to have had a few drinks in him and had become significantly distracted catching up with an old mutual friend from grad school.
“Hob.”
Hob hums as Dream creeps around from behind him.
“I wish to leave. Are you ready?”
“Sure, darling,” Hob reaches a hand up and tugs a bit on Dream’s hair. “Let me grab our coats.”
“Oh!” Matthew grabs Dream’s attention. “You’re Robert’s husband? Heard a lot about you!” He extends the hand not holding onto his beer bottle and, after examining it like it might bite, Dream pulls his own pale, thin hand from his trouser pocket and gives it a shake, looking like he’s just signed up for a year of torment.
Dream’s clear disinterest doesn’t seem to bother Matthew though, who is all smiles and good humor.
Hob nods at Dream for a job well done and sighs tiredly, acceptingly. “Alright love, we’ll get going.”
“Aw, no wait!” Matthew laughs a little. “You were about to tell me about the worst date you’ve ever been on. I told you mine!”
Hob laughs too and he can hear his husband’s eye roll next to him. Hob tugs on his hand and gives him the puppy dog look he’d been perfecting ever since they met. He thinks it has double the intended effect whenever he’s loosened up by alcohol, and so is only a little but smug when Dream relents with an audible sigh and his shoulders visibly deflating.
“I’m not sure I can top yours, Matt.” But Hob thinks for a moment anyway, his eyes scanning the room distractedly before landing on Dream next to him, who isn’t even trying to mask his annoyance. Hob grins secretively and Dream cocks a single brow.
“Okay, I got one.” He sets a hand on Dream’s shoulder to steady himself but also to reassure his husband that right after this– promise, they can go home.
“So way back in undergrad,” Hob starts, his grin morphing into his best drunken smirk. “I met this guy in a bookshop. Real cute. Real awkward. Gave me his number anyway so I figured, what’s the harm.” Hob shrugs a shoulder and waves the arm holding his red solo cup, nearly spilling the liquid inside.
“The guy hits me up that night– who does that?? Anyway–” Hob pauses when Matthew reacts with proper exaggeration. “We plan a date for the weekend. The fucking botanical gardens, which he wants to go to and I lie and say ‘oh yeah, I love looking at plants, I have tickets already’ and I didn’t, but of course I’m thinking with my dick so I buy the fucking tickets…”
“Oh, God.” Matthew laughs good naturedly. Dream is staring at the side of Hob’s head, but Hob just flashes him a cheeky grin.
“The guy is bummed cos he really wanted to see the cherry blossoms, but we missed the bloom or whatever–” Hob rolls his eyes at the memory. “But we’re still walking around, talking about our classes, blah blah–”
“Was he still cute?” Matthew interjects, getting his pointer finger out from the grasp of his beer and jabbing it in his direction with a tilt of his head.
Hob bobs his head, eyes cast up in recollection. “He was still very cute, but not enough to save the date, unfortunately.” He’s still wearing the smile and Matthew chuckles again, wobbling on the spot.
“So I’m pulling all the weight,” Hob swings his head at Dream, nudging their shoulders together, including him in the story. Dream continues to stare blankly though, but it doesn’t deter Hob.
“I’m like, ‘hey, let’s go to a restaurant. Let’s get some food…” Hob licks his lips before pulling his bottom lip in, biting it distractedly. “And we go– and by the way at this point, I don’t know why he’s still here. Like, I’m pretty sure we’re both bored of each other.”
“Why are you torturing yourself?” Matthew asks, eyes squinting.
“Because I’m thinking maybe this is just a one time thing, at least I can get a good lay out of it, right?” At Matthews' sage nodding, Hob takes a long sip of his drink before continuing on.
“So, we do eventually make it back to my place–” Hob laughs at Matthew’s eyebrow waggle. “-- and watch a movie… and then fall asleep on the couch.”
“What?!” Matthew laughs, leaning back against the wall for support. Hob is chuckling quietly to himself, peeking over at his husband to ensure he’s still there.
He is. But he’s taken a step away from Hob, arms crossed, waiting for the end of the story.
Hob tugs on Dream's elbow, pulling him back in, who goes with a barely contained groan of misery.
“So I’m ready to kick him out. Or at least I’m waiting for him to let himself out. But no.” Hob sighs loudly, removing his hand from Dream to rub at the bridge of his nose. “He asks to be walked home. Like– why extend the effort?”
“Why?” Matthew agrees.
“Ugh but I’m like– fine. Let’s walk you home.” Hob cocks his hip out, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
“We get to his place; it’s not far from my flat. And then he turns to me and says, ‘I’d like to hang out more. Let’s go– uh, let’s walk around’ like– are you kidding me?”
Matthew is laughing so hard his cheeks are turning red and Hob is nearly stumbling over himself. Dream is still silent, standing like a statue next to Hob. He can feel his gaze burning into his skin.
“God damn–” Hob exclaims, laughing through it. “But– yeah! For some reason we walked. For hours. And the whole time I’m trying to figure out how to best extract myself from this never ending date.”
“So clingy!” Matthew nearly shouts, he’s had to set his beer down on the nearest flat surface at this point.
“Plastic wrap could take notes.” Hob nods, laughing one final time with a loud exhale. “So yeah, that was the worst– and longest date of my life.”
“Jesus Christ, dude,” Matthew’s giggles are dying down and he’s wiping under his eyes.
Hob looks over at Dream, who has yet to crack even a smirk.
After a long pause, where Hob can sense Matthew still trying to collect himself, Dream finally opens his mouth.
“Do you think you’re funny?” He says, his voice low and cool, as always.
Hob shrugs, taking the final pull from his mixed drink and turning to toss the plastic cup in a bin.
“I mean,” Hob feels his grin split across his face, making him squint. “We’re still together, so…”
“Wait,” Matthew’s eyes grow comically large. He’s now pointing between Hob and Dream. “Seriously??”
Hob pecks Dream on the cheek, but he has yet to move and that only makes Hob drunkenly laugh again, a hint of nerves coloring the tone.
Dream is leveling Hob with a serious look, but slowly his brows raise, his eyes casting off to the side and back at him, an unreadable micro expression crossing his features.
“That’s not how it happened.”

sometimes I think how in several pre-esc interviews it was joked that Bojan is so popular between both girls and guys. And he reacted very acceptingly and happily like "yeah, I AM that charming 😏".
And now he has the most popular esc star gushing out his admiration about Bojan to everyone who would listen all around Europe, I imagine Bojan is sitting with a quite smug smile on his face. (even if he himself avoids these topics).
edit: Jere is adding in the bit about smelly shirt to try and keep things balanced :D

003.
“And then– Then, he just says, ‘Come over to my place’. Like–” You throw your hands up with the tongs in one hand still, hardly paying much attention to the grilled meat in front of you.
“-- Like what makes you even think I would say yes to that?! Just a ‘come over to my place’! No ‘sorry Y/N for not talking to you in months’; no ‘I’m so sorry for treating you like dirt beneath my feet’.”
Explaining the moment and even going as far as to mock the way Gojo speaks to you, really read into the moment about how much it bothered you.
The momentary rambling you do doesn’t phase Nanami when he sits across from you, sleeves rolled up after shedding the suit jacket and loosening his decaled tie once the two of you had been seated and ordered. The drive over was silent for the most part, especially when you were just reveling in what happened in your office after Nanami had stepped in, but he let you soak in it for a while.
It was up until he could tell it was still bothering you when you both sat down, he inquired about it, and you opened the floodgates to unload every minute you could recount the moment you had walked back to your office.
“God, Kento, it’s as if he doesn’t care about how I feel or whatever I say, he just thinks he’ll get what he wants by acting the way he does! I mean, come on, you’ll have any girl fall at your feet if you even give her the attention you do to get what you want, but me? ME? He knows how much that shit bothers me, so I don’t know why he does it!”
Nanami had already shed his glasses amidst the conversation, pouring himself another shot of sake provided for the both of you. He’d already taken one when you began the rundown, but he needed another with just how much he was hearing. He even went as far as pouring you a shot, taking it with steady hands in the middle of your rambling to swallow down.
There’s a heavy breath that leaves you after the drink, staring down at the grill between the two of you before he’s offering his hand to take the tongs from your hold, to which you acceptingly choose to do.
You grow quiet for a moment as he turns the meat over onto its side carefully, expelling a heavy sigh.
“I didn’t even say no.” You murmur, leaning back into your seat with your arms crossed.
“Why didn’t you?” Nanami inquires, peering up from his work at the grill to watch you, your own gaze lifting from the table to meet his own. His words weren’t meant to be demeaning, the question alone just wanting more insight.
“I.. I don’t know, he just– He wasn’t asking. He didn’t even ask. He just said it. I mean, I told him I already had plans, but he saw through that–”
Nanami’s lips purse for a slip second before his facial features relax back into that stoic expression of his, contemplating his next words that don’t come for a while.
“You might have to consider the following,” He starts, your frame shifting to have you sit up a bit straighter as he speaks, attentive to his words.
“Satoru is more or less on edge with Suguru Geto still at large with his genocidal mission and going under the radar, where we can’t find him unless we’re lucky enough to have some intel. Considering your history with him, and how much he held with you, maybe.. What had happened with the two of you months prior might have something to do with it.”
You draw your lips inward in thought to it, brows knit together.
“He might want to reach out to you in a way that’s more personal.”
“It worries me, Kento. Just.. The last time we were alone together, it– It wasn’t..”
You struggle to explain it, even stumbling over your words that have Nanami a little taken back. You digress, sighing out of frustration to it as you give up on explaining it entirely. Nanami would have a better understanding on why you rejected the idea of being in the same room with him in present day, but you decide to put it to rest. Eventually, he reaches to place a few pieces of the meat that were cooked to completion onto the plate adjacent to you.
“I’ve been thinking about what you said to me earlier today.”
Nanami’s brows raise slightly.
“About.. Not giving Satoru so much grace if I know how he is.”
There’s a low hum that emits from the man across from you in acknowledgement, setting the tongs down as he’s pouring another drink for the two of them.
“I.. might have spoken out of turn when I had said that to you, and my apologies for doing so, Y/N. If what I said swayed you to think otherwise..”
“No, Nanami, it’s okay.. Really,” You say with a quiet laugh leaving you, picking up your glass after the pour that you mutter a ‘thank you’ to, sliding it back over to you. “It’s.. giving me more introspection. A reality check, you could say.”
You say the last sentence with a bit of playfulness in your tone to lighten the mood once more, something that Nanami slightly smiles at. You catch that smile again and it makes your stomach tighten having to see it, and you can’t help but smile at it either.
“I should be apologizing to you actually. I can’t believe you’d just let me sit and ramble on and on about Satoru Gojo, considering how much you feel about him.”
“Like I had said before and I’ll say again– I’d be a fool not to care. Any decent man–”
“--Would want to be worried, yes, I remember~” You chime just as you’re taking a full swig of your drink.
Nanami does the same, smile stretched just a little bit larger than the one you pulled out of him.
Maybe you had too much to drink.
Nanami was good at holding his liquor, but you could tell he was just a bit buzzed by how much the two of you were slamming one bottle after another. You lost count at that point.
Walking out of the restaurant, you almost stumble a bit, and Nanami is quick to take a steady hold of your shoulders, even going as far as to loop your arm onto his own.
“Hold onto me for now.”
You hum in approval, making sure to have a decent grasp on him as you walk, your feet hardly finding stability at first but with Nanami’s guidance, it was slowly getting there. You were both dropped off by an associate to get to the restaurant, since cab fare was fairly high these days, Nanami decided just to walk you home before making his way home as well. It was on the way, and he didn’t want you walking home alone at this hour.
The way Nanami was taking care of you after the meal was heartwarming to you. Knowing Nanami’s nature, he showed genuine care underneath that stone-cold countenance he wore. There were things he was completely sick of and dejected, but there was still a few ounces of care left in him that he would show in his actions. This was one of those moments.
Granted, he voiced his care towards you a couple times today, and even days before that in little doses you were well aware of.
Even at the thought of it, you mindlessly lean your cheek against his clothed bicep, eyelids lowering and feeling that dizziness wrack your brain to your intoxication. It’s when you do this, Nanami’s grip on you stifles in tightness, but becomes more secure. You’re surprised when he doesn’t retract to the feeling or even nudge you. Maybe your drunken state was playing mind games with you, almost swearing you could feel an inkling of him subtly brushing back into it.
It’s quiet for most of the walk home, but the moment you retract slightly to catch a glance at Nanami, he’s eyeing over the dazzlingly elegant watch he fashioned on his wrist before meeting your gaze.
“Did you make your decision?” He inquires, your brows knitting together.
“Is it late..?” You peer over to his watch, hardly catching the time as he lowers his hand.
“Half past 7.. It’s not too late.”
“Mn.”
You sigh out heavily, finally finding your footing and shifting just a bit to create a little bit of space between the two of you, even when you were still holding onto Nanami’s arm.
“I feel like I’m a little too intoxicated to handle Satoru’s mysteriousness right now, so I don’t know if it’s a good idea.”
“Shower when you get in. Maybe that’ll do you some good, clear your head up a bit.” Nanami suggests, your gaze still lingering on him. “If you feel like you shouldn’t after a moment of clarity, then you can make a decision.”
It’s then when you finally reach home, standing in front of your apartment complex and Nanami ever-so gently lets go of your arm, carefully steadying you even when you sway once more. You face the much taller man, eyeing over his stature before you flash him a soft smile, that was probably more lazy than you had wanted to translate.
Nanami mirrors the smile back with one that held so much weight, it made your chest tighten just a smidge.
“Thank you for dinner tonight,” He says lowly, retracting his hands only to lift one to gently place his larger palm at the top of your head to caress. The touch was comforting, and you weren’t sure if it was the booze or the affectionate gesture coming from Nanami, but you could feel a slow wave of warmth wash over you.
This was a newer side to Nanami that you were tapping into, and you never thought for a second he’d give it to you. Especially when you were rambling about your situationship with Gojo. Even after all of that, he still showed you the tenderness you deserved.
Feeling his hand leave your head, he now tucks his hands into his tan trousers, nodding towards the building.
“Maybe next time when the circumstances aren’t what they are, we can spend time like this together again.” Nanami says.
It’s enough for you to smile a bit more timidly to the suggestion, hiding back the grin you were wanting to show brightly to it. More time with Nanami would do you more good than anything.
“We can. No worries about that.” You say almost a little too confidently, earning a laugh from Nanami before he’s giving a slight bow of his body.
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
“Goodnight, Nanami. Be careful on your way home.”
Saying your departures, you turn to head into your building, and you can feel the eyes on you watching until you made it in and Nanami is making his way back to his place for the night.
Showering was the last thing you wanted to do, but Nanami having suggested it, you decided it would be fair to take his advice on this one.
It was already reaching 9 o’clock on the dot the minute you step out of the shower and dress yourself into more comfortable loungewear than the work uniform you adorned, towel drying your tresses as you stare at the clock on the wall in the living room.
You were still a little buzzed, but your mind was definitely much clearer. Now, you’d have to really decide if going over to Gojo’s was really going to be worth it.
You can’t help, but recall the conversation you had in your office for probably the tenth time tonight, replaying his words constantly.
You begin weighing the pros and cons.
The pros would be you get a chance to hear Gojo out, communicate what had been going on, maybe get an apology out of him and the connection you held with Gojo could begin to build back up again.
The cons were you didn’t want to find out. You didn’t want to be disappointed in the complete opposite. What if he came back with something akin to saying he can’t be around you anymore, or even blame you for not trying hard enough to restore even their companionship?
The unknown was always unsettling and filled with discomfort, but if you just knew what was going on in that big head of his, maybe things would be better. Not knowing was the worst; not knowing would only drive you to overthink and settle deeper into that discomfort and sadness you were holding previous to when he spoke to you for the first time in months in your office.
You groan loudly.
“Fucking idiot.” You grunt as you toss the towel into the nearest hamper and begin gathering what you needed to head out. You weren’t sure if the derogative that left you was aimed towards Gojo or even yourself, it just happened to slip out when you made your final decision.
It’s quite a walk to where Gojo’s home resided, so you had to bite the bullet and just pay a cab to get you across town. That was one thing you’d at least hope Gojo would compensate you for.
As soon as you arrive, you head into the complex he was located in. It was like you remembered the way there, like the back of your hand. It was a place you frequented often, so the short months of not being able to do this, just came back to you naturally. Of course, his flat was on the highest floor in the building and you subconsciously rolled your eyes to it. Nothing ever changed with just how flamboyant Gojo was in other aspects, especially when it came to money. He had it, might as well flaunt it, you suppose.
There’s a hesitance in your walk the more you grow closer to his door after stepping off the elevator, already having second thoughts about doing this.
Maybe you shouldn’t be here right now; maybe this was a mistake.
He said it himself, if you didn’t show up, he’d get the message.
But here you were.
Turning back would be a little foolish — you brought yourself all the way out here to what, not get any answers?
Maybe getting a form of closure would do nothing for you in the end.
It’s like mental gymnastics the more you dwell on it, already finding yourself in front of his door before you’re reaching out to ring his doorbell.
As if it’s clockwork, it doesn’t take much time before the door is swinging open and Gojo appears behind it, standing there shirtless. He fashioned just a pair of gray sweats, and your eyes flit up his frame before it’s settled on the glistening facial features, even his slightly dampened hair.
The white haired man’s tiers stretch into an appeased smile, leaning into the doorframe as he stares over your appearance before him.
“I was wondering when you’d be here. I mean, I could see you were thinking a little too hard through the wall—“
“Can you.. put a shirt on?” You say with a hint of annoyance in your tone and he only laughs at that. Typical response.
“I just got out of the shower, please. Plus, this is my home. I don’t have to put a shirt on for anybody.. Honestly, I think they’d want to see me shirtless even if I did~”
All you give is a roll of your eyes, and it’s enough for him to lift his arm and push the door further open for you to enter, a little too smitten by the reactions he gets out of you.
“You can come in, Y/N. I’ll go put a shirt on too, if you so badly want me to~”
“Yeah, yeah.” You comment just as you’re stepping into his apartment and the door closes behind you, hearing the mechanism of the locks for it after.
Jesus Christ, what were you doing?

Fast talkers
Great poker faces, you know how to play cards
Knows all the drama whether you want to or not
Really inclusive people
Lots of empathy and acceptance. If someone has something they feel like most people will judge and reject, chances are you guys won't
Plus, you're used to so many people and such different things, chances are you won't be surprised
People-skills, but borderline manipulative
Like yes, you can make people feel worthy and nice, but you can also sweet-talk your way into getting pretty much anything
At the same time though, pathological people pleasers
You want to keep everyone happy, you want to make everyone feel accepted, you want to make sure that everyone is excited and comfortable and enjoying themselves
And also at the same time, possibly pathological liars
Or just very good ones. It's as easy as breathing
Despite that however, the truth and honesty is important to you guys. You hate fake people, and you want to know how people really feel or what's really real, not some fabrication
Connects most with the funny side characters that actually are lowkey struggling under their facade
Spontaneous, always down for a new adventure
Really curious too. You'll be the ones to suggest trying something new on the menu, or going to a new cafe
Dimples when they smile probably
Great athletes, especially fast runners
Probably the most diverse set of kids because as Hermes is so acceptingly eclectic, he doesn't really have a type and goes around everywhere....
Got in trouble when they were kids (even if they were innocent), because they just have that wild, troublesome spark about them
If you get them angry, watch out, because best believe they have an intricate plan to your downfall? Is it super violent? Maybe not, but trust me when I say you will suffer
Have good travel discounts, Ubers, deals, flights they have everything
Words of affirmation is your love language. You guys need to communicate and can't function when everyone's feelings are all cloudy and you're not sure how people feel about you
Probably have a list of roasts and pick up lines just in case-
Can communicate with sheep as a little shepherd's blessing
You like shoes and probably have good-branded ones
Subjects such as economics, commerce or finance you enjoy
Playing the harp is another little blessing you have
Good secret keepers
Stealthy
Persuasive, like you guys can go far in advertising and communications
A bit of an ego, but definitely some insecurities too
Loneliness is something they deal with. They like having a group, and fitting in and laughing along withe everyone, and if people aren't connecting or they're on their own a lot, chances are they'll suffer a bit
