this is a long shot and i'm sorry to ask, but if you don't mind, can mutuals (or contacts or regulars... just... this community) of mine who aren't jumping ship like... let me know? will any of us still be here? is it over? i'm trying to know if this really is it or what's... even happening. i hate to reassurance seek but i'm feeling pretty miserable and confused.

I love how ridiculously overpowered rose was. the auto shotgun, endless piles of bullets, and explosives. no wonder she was happily guiding alan at the end of the main game—she could easily survive the dark place!

#this is not vaguing . my brain just cannot let go of that post #that post about adding pause options in games for accessibility (valid and correct)#and then mentioning soulslike games #i dont know about other souls like because i don't play them #but DS/dark souls/bloodborne at least #have the stable ground feature that functions as a live save system #its a strategy to quit out of the game to reset enemy positions (TO MAKE THE GAME EASIER BTW)#and it doenst make you lose any progress #and quitting out requires so few buttons you can do it in a split second when u need a moment #it only really resets bosses (which is a feature not a bug)#and sekiro HAS a pause function afaik--because its fully single player + the stable ground feature #the greatest problem of the fromsoft-souls francise is gamers treating is as gamer cred for its difficulty #when the real appeal is the unique narrative and the fact that you can fine tune your own difficulty experience with different routes #routes-mechanics-and weapons #THATS the reason challenge runs are so big in those games--but what challenge runs don't tell you is that #you can choose to make your game harder #but you have the same control to make it easier #exactly as you want it. not just by changing HP scaling and damage as is the standard- but by changing the game experience itself #and theymay not be games for everyone. but no game is ever for everyone #but in terms of actual accessibility i believe fromsosft games ARE accessible because of their simple controls that can be easily bound int #easily bound into any controller might suit the player's needs best #while offering an experience that is exactly as challenging as the player chooses

#I just......wanted to work on some new video editing techniques..........#Spoiler: It went........so fucking bad lol #Like restart my computer because it basically stopped functioning bad #That seems like a non sequitor but believe me getting from A to Z was an awful ordeal #I've been curious for a while if I could sync up my footage to the audio - y'know cut the video up in time with the music! Classic #Normally I'd fall back on WMM but it has this annoying desync glitch(?) where it renders everything correctly but previews it out of time #So trying to line up the visuals to the audio - well I have to restart and listen through everything so far for it to align properly :/#Lightworks is being a bitch as well - I guess it just stopped?? having a feature that it had a couple years ago that controls clip length #So I get random-length clips! That I can't stretch or extend! Y'know - The Thing I need to do!#I also tried Openshot and by about the point the advice had me changing my security settings I noped out #Literally would crash if I tried to import one (1) .png >:P #And I'm not about to give my info to Yet Another freeware like DaVinci Resolve since it went So Well with Lightworks #Didn't stop me from downloading and installing the wrong version for like an hour which Greatly lagged out my computer #And then as said it was the wrong version even if I did have access to it so I wouldn't be able to use it anyway!#How come we have such good opensource video capture and streaming software like OBS #And like LibreOffice for word processing and Audacity for audio and just - so many good opensource programs!#But video editing is a step too far #Ugh #Today's been a wash >:/#At least my uptime is all shiny sparkly new for streaming maybe tomorrow lol #I dunno it depends on how sleep goes - y'know how it is after being frustrated for so long #I really wanted to! I wanted to do a lot of things >:(#I'll see how it all goes #Guess I'm going back to WMM - ugh - once I've properly cooled down and Actually Prepared for the slog #If anyone has any video editing software recommendations I am all ears tho #Obviously not any of the ones mentioned here as they Did Not Work lol #I just want........an intuitive place where I can drag-and-drop images and be able to crop their length up or down to the audio #Hell I'll take a patch for the desync if such a thing exists lol - looks like it's been a problem for like 10 years! Replacing physical buttons and controls with touchscreens also means removing accessibility features. Physical buttons can be textured or have Braille and can be located by touch and don't need to be pressed with a bare finger. Touchscreens usually require precise taps and hand-eye coordination for the same task.

Many point-of-sale machines now are essentially just a smartphone with a card reader attached and the interface. The control layout can change at a moment's notice and there are no physical boundaries between buttons. With a keypad-style machine, the buttons are always in the same place and can be located by touch, especially since the middle button has a raised ridge on it.

Buttons can also be located by touch without activating them, which enables a "locate then press" style of interaction which is not possible on touchscreens, where even light touches will register as presses and the buttons must be located visually rather than by touch.

When elevator or door controls are replaced by touch screens, will existing accessibility features be preserved, or will some people no longer be able to use those controls?

Who is allowed to control the physical world, and who is making that decision?

#i get why this is happening; it's way cheaper to buy an off-the-shelf touch kiosk or tablet and run your ui on a web server #rather than integrating with custom hardware and physical inputs #but that should not just removing accessibility features #and I know that digital devices can help a lot with accessibility: e.g. screen readers #but I wouldn't rely on any of those being installed on someone else's device

it’s a curse that photo mode for Alan Wake 2 is probably releasing around or after the drop for the Night Springs DLC since I want to replay it before the DLCs… but I don’t want to go through all that for photo mode to immediately drop after
