Last Movie - Only Lovers Left Alive - Went in hoping for a really good Tom Hiddleston / Tilda Swinton movie. Came out bored and just going meh. Really disappointed actually as could have been so good.

2024 TV Season Analysis – Organized Crime Tops the Franchise, Law & Order Better, SVU Needs an Overhaul

The 2023-24 TV season has been a truncated TV season of 13 episodes, due the ongoing WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes that happened last year. A lot of scripted TV was back burned until the strikes ended. TV writers struck their deal first and were back to work promptly, long before actors/actresses, this should have given time to plan out their already short season. Production crunched for 13 episodes to be shot between late November until this coming week, where SVU and mother ship reboot will be wrapping up shooting their finale episodes.

But where does this season grade in its entirety? I’m going to summarize – as much as I can - my views on where the franchise stands for this season from best to worst. Click below to read.

Organized Crime – The best in the franchise creatively, hands down!

New show runner/executive producer John Shiban (The X-Files) and his writing staff understood their assignment and have definitely delivered. Organized Crime is the most entertaining series in the franchise this season, week-over-week. The storylines are so fleshed out and they don’t drag on as they had since the series started. Shiban has shifted focus to the OC main characters and their backstories as well as expanding on the OC unit in its entirety. We’ve even seen 2 of SVU’s former stars show up (Tamara Tunie, Chief M.E. Melinda Warner / Dann Florek, Donald Cragen) as well as an appearance by Peter Scanavino (ADA Dominick Carisi). We have even been introduced to more of Stabler’s family, his brothers – portrayed by guest stars Dean Norris and Michael Trotter – and while they’ve come in and shook things up for Stabler, one thing I can point out, it’s the first season since OC premiered where I haven’t felt that Elliot Stabler is on a quest for vengeance or retribution of some kind.

The cast has been firing on all cylinders this season, especially with the episode that just aired last week (“Crossroads”), where one of OC’s new team members went missing and was found to be killed, Stabler having the bury his body as he is undercover with the group that found Detective-in-Training Samir Bashir (guest star Abubakr Ali). This story is still playing out so as of now we don’t fully know who killed him but I’m sure we’re about to find out. Stabler’s younger brother, Joe Jr. may have some involvement as the investigation is about to come full circle. Meanwhile, the scene in question in this episode has Christopher Meloni and Danielle Mone Truitt deliver their most powerful scene together yet in the series and they have delivered quite a few, this one stands out though.

Excellent only begins to describe it, and Organized Crime this season. Organized Crime has yet to be renewed for the 2024-25 TV season.

Law & Order (reboot) – It’s improved, but we still have a ways to go.

There is a lot to be said of the mother ship series, both the original and this reboot. But this reboot has seen a lot in its short time on air, in this short season alone the cast has changed twice already. Jeffrey Donovan (Detective Frank Cosgrove) and the series parted ways weeks before production was set to start and veteran Sam Waterston (District Attorney Jack McCoy) chose to depart before mid-season. Sam Waterston is/will greatly be missed and he leaves behind a full legacy on the show, which he joined in 1994! Meanwhile newcomers Reid Scott (Detective Vincent Riley) and Tony Goldwyn (District Attorney Nicholas Baxter) have been welcomed by fans with open arms. The cast of the reboot no matter which season is very solid and they are all very talented, but their talents often seem crippled.

The reboot seems to have an issue fleshing out the characters. Det. Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) and ADA Sam Maroun (Odelya Halevi) – and add DA Nick Baxter (Goldwyn) to me, week-in and week-out are the unsung heroes as with them we can see depth, we can understand why they make the decisions they make or feel the way they do on certain topics. I’m still on the fence about Riley’s development but he’s definitely has a more solid partnership with Shaw than Cosgrove did, and he certainly is a better character. I think they’ve got a great detective duo here – reminiscent of that of Ed Green (Jesse L. Martin) and Cyrus Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) in season 18. From about the third episode this season on up, there has been an improvement in the writing, I must say in comparison from where the season started. Most of the episodes this season seem to have one singular writer who stands out, Pamela Wechsler, who also serves as executive producer. Girl power!

What can help the reboot:

The writers need to get away from talking points and political affiliation when it comes to the characters and even the weekly storylines - looking at you show runner Rick Eid - it makes the characters come off as caricatures and stereotypes. And maybe not directly rip the episodes from the headlines near verbatim. It takes away from it if we already know how it plays out – where is “the Law & Order twist?” They need to deep dive into Vincent Reilly, Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy) and Kate Dixon (Camryn Manheim); we have talented actors on here, give them something that makes us stand up and clap and relate to these characters and stop making them one-dimensional, especially ADA Price. I must say I’ve been enjoying the legal side a bit more with the addition of Goldwyn’s Baxter, his back-and-forth every week with Price has a feel of the original series run, where we see multiple points of views on cases and it doesn’t feel/sound like rhetoric. And speaking of that run, it wouldn’t hurt for them to find ways to invest those old characters in the reboot. Just because Sam has departed doesn’t mean we still don’t want to see old faces or even faces from the other L&O series show up. Elisabeth Rohm (ADA Serena Southerlyn) and Milena Govich (Det. Nina Cassady) have directed episodes! Raul Esparza and Hugh Dancy both starred in Hannibal, I could see former-ADA now Defense Attorney Rafael Barba sitting at the defense table and likely wiping the floor with Price! Tony Goldwyn even wants Mariska Hargitay to direct an episode. Let’s make the mother ship enjoyable to watch again!

It was renewed for a 24th season (4th for the reboot). The mother ship has a second chance at greatness and to continue its legacy on television, not a lot of shows get that. It would be wise that those in charge on mother ship remember that.

SVU – The 25th milestone season ranks as one of the worst.

I originally had a two-page long document on this season of SVU alone and I’ve had to shorten it down and it’s still not that short. But if I had to describe the 25th record-breaking season of SVU in 1 word, that word would be “bad.” There are calls on social media for show runner/executive producer David Graziano to be fired from the series. I’m not one to openly call for people to lose their jobs, but clearly there is something wrong and the downward spiral of the ratings mixed with bad press for SVU episodes this season is showing that. Nothing about season 25 jumps out as milestone season and there are only a handful of episodes as of now, that I would consider episodes worth going back to watch again: “Tunnel Blind”, “Duty to Report”, “Probability of Doom”, and “Children of Wolves” which was directed by Mariska Hargitay.

It’s the writing and direction of this season, period. There is no other reason or excuse that flies. There is clearly no investment from the management level behind the scenes at SVU in this milestone season being the best it could have been. The Maddie storyline overtook the season and its resolution didn’t exactly hit the mark either. Where is the retrospective? Why haven’t we gone over past cases? Seen former victims/survivors (other than 2 minutes worth of Maria from “911”)? Why did Olivia stop seeing Dr. Lindstrom (Bill Irwin)? Where is the ‘healing?’ The guest stars? We haven’t seen any former stars, other than Kelli Giddish (Detective Amanda Rollins), and that proves to me that it was a mistake to fire her in the first place. “Where is the energy? Where is the spatter? This is life-less dreck. A cheap knock-off…” (diehard SVU fans; if you know, you know). But seriously, nothing about this season overall screams “25 years!”

With the season opener, I was sure David Graziano and the writers turned the page on the mess that was most of the entire 24th season of SVU. Turns out I was wrong to think it. It seems to be doubled down. It’s proof that despite his behavior, he’s just not a good fit for SVU. He doesn’t seem to understand how to write for this show and be the voice of who women/people look up to and the voice that victims and survivors need. I honestly think he would serve better on a Criminal Intent reboot or something since he seems to like that aspect of the crimes more so than investigatory and the legal side – Peter Scanavino’s screen time has greatly decreased and well as legal scenes.

What can help SVU:

A lot of damage is done, but it’s not irreversible. The best call is to replace the person at the top if they aren’t going to change themselves, (sorry but not sorry David). The popular eras of SVU are seasons 3-7 and again 13-17 and for good reason; Neal Baer and Warren Leight remain the two people who have seen SVU at their peaks. Going into a record breaking season 26, someone who can understand the intricacies of SVU needs to take the helm and get this show turned around. Focus needs to be on steadying the storylines and fleshing them out in a meaningful way to where they connect and not have crucial bits just disappear into thin air. We need to get SVU’s focus back on uplifting the voices of victims and survivors and their journeys, as well as to delve deep again into the world of the NYPD SVU squad. It’s not just about “rape case of the week” the actual SVU deals with kidnappings, crimes against the children, the disabled/elderly, working in conjunction with the Hate Crimes unit/federal govt., trafficking and more, let’s get the variety back in the crimes – and let’s stop showing the crime taking place on screen and in graphic manner. The crime scene analysis, forensics, court scenes and legalese needs to be put back into this series, I’ve honestly felt it decrease even before S24 as far back as some S22.

We need to see Carisi navigate through these cases and the back-and-forth with the defense as well as in his own bureau. We’ve yet to see Carisi interact with the district attorney (Jack McCoy, Sam Waterston – now Nick Baxter, Tony Goldwyn) much like his preceding ADAs. Benson’s character needs to go back to therapy and deal with her issues head on (Lindstrom, Bill Irwin), she had done that up until EDMR in season 24 became her new way and it’s not working for her, since the writers seem to use it now as a crutch to say “she’s healing” but then turn around and have her do things to suggest otherwise. Benson also needs to be written as a leader and delegator more so than taking every case away from her “squad” and solving them personally. Actually from a story standpoint it would be great to see Benson face repercussions for continually doing this, in the real world that would have consequences as how can she personally investigate cases and run the unit?

And with the unit, their stories need to be dissected more. Velasco (Octavio Pisano) in particular, he had an edge in season 23 as the new guy that might be a snitch for the Chief of Detectives (McGrath, Terry Serpico) but in season 24 they pushed this character into a corner with liking Detective Grace Muncy (Molly Burnett, who departed last season) and the Chilly storyline last season and can’t seem to get him out of that corner. Velasco comes off as “just there” much in the way Fin (ICE T) is starting to. And where is Phoebe (Jennifer Esposito)? Detective Bruno and Captain (to-Detective or Chief?) Curry (Kevin Kane and Aime Donna Kelly) are pretty much holding down the squad and are actually the more I look to, to solve the cases and they are the only ones peaking my interest.

SVU is heading to record-breaking season 26, if they want to reach their goal of stopping at 30. Dick Wolf, NBC and those behind the scenes need to get serious about it if that is what they really want. Otherwise, you’re about to have long-time viewers and new viewers alike turning away. Despite what people believe about ever-lasting loyalty, it does have an end date.

You weren't sure how you'd managed to let your friends convince you but here you were, all dressed up in a revealing light pink dress with a deep v cut, your back bare while your chest was covered with a gold necklace that hung teasingly between your breasts, a few inches added to your height from your heels.

you're lucky you took time taking nice pictures to add to your different social medias because not that would be impossible. You'd only had 2 beers and a few shots of vodka but now you were tipsy, stumbling when you walked from the bar to your table.

"Sheesh, y/n. We'll have to cut you off for the night if you fall again." Ada smirked, gulping down her alcoholic contents.

You immediately shook your head. They always babied you when you all went out because of your low alcohol tolerance. "'m fine!" You slurred, rubbing your eyes as you set your drink down.

"Mhm..." Diane sighed, her eyes traveling around the crowded area before they lit up. "Damn. Five o'clock!"

You and Ada looked to the left and saw a group of guys stood near the bar, some nudging each other when they saw you guys had noticed their lingering stares.

You hummed, sitting down before bringing your glass to your lips, eyes moving from them.

"cute but not totally my type."

"Uh-huh. They're not over 6ft and have deep green eyes and a weirdly seductive scar over their lip?" Diane teased.

You rolled your eyes, taking a long sip of your drink to hide your flushed face.

"Five o'clock is coming-" Ada quickly warned and before you had time to look over they'd reached your table.

"Hey there," one of them smiled, all of them grabbing chairs to pull up to your table.

"Hi.... You are?" Diane asked, acting as if she hadn't seen them all basically eye fucking you all just minutes ago.

"Daniel. These are my friends, Vincent and Ren....we saw you all drinking by yourselves a while ago. Decided to make some introductions."

You all nodded mindfully, meeting each others eyes a few times before they called for a waiter, Diane leaning over to you, whispering.

"I guess you're glad you wore the secret material now?"

You glared at her before looking down at your outfit, uncomfortably shuffling your thighs as the new company placed an order of drinks for you all.

You mentally slapped yourself for agreeing to this afterall.

Toji walked out of his bathroom, ruffling a towel over his head before annoyingly looking at Geto and Gojo who were sat on his couch, eyes glued on either their phones or the TV.

"Why are you guys here again?" He asked, throwing the towel onto the bed before walking to his unorganized suitcases, digging through them to find some sweats to put on.

"Well, we're bored," Gojo put it simply, whistling as he looked through his phone. "Looks like the girls are having more fun than we are."

Toji raised a brow. "What're you talking bout?"

"On y/n and Diane's insta. They posted some selfies and videos an hour ago...." Gojo hummed, still looking through the pictures.

Toji walked over, snatching the phone from Gojo which resulted in him shooting a glare his way. Toji's eyes widened. You looked breathtaking as always and he was surprised he hadn't even asked for your social media.

Toji held his breath once he gave you a detailed look over. The tight dress hugging you amazingly, showing off your curves and hips, your face caked in light makeup as you smiled at the camera.

"Where the hell did they go?"

Gojo shrugged.

"Some popular bar down the road.." Gojo yawned, taking his phone from Toji. "You aren't thinking of ruining their fun are you?"

Toji shrugged before moving over to his suitcases, this time looking for jeans and a shirt, throwing the clothes over to his bed.

"Course I'm not tryna ruin their fun...but we can go out for a few drinks can't we?"

"Come on, one more drink?" One of the guys teased, pushing a large glass into your hand.

You'd been here for about another thirty minutes and we're already contemplating pretending to be sick to try to wriggle your way out of here.

"Nono-" Diane lightly pushed the glass. "Y/n's had her fill for the night."

You gave her a relieved smile and she returned the gesture.

Vincent however wasn't happy about it but decided to leave you be.

"So you're a college girl?" He asked.

You just hummed, too bored with the conversation. You glanced over at Diane and Ada who were being entertained by the other two guys.

Vincent continued asking questions but your eyes were locked on the entrance of the bar, surprised when you saw a dark haired man with a white haired man by his side.

Gojo and Toji.

You were confused but quickly looked away when Vincent tried to look at who had caught your attention so easily.

"You know em?" He asked, voice closer then before which made you turn to him quickly, his face a good five inches from yours.

"No... Thought I saw a friend.." you lied, nails tapping against the hard wood table.

Vincent definitely wasn't convinced but you didn't care as much, instead excusing yourself so you could go to the bathroom.

Whilst walking by the bar, you looked around, trying to find toji or Gojo but your attempts were useless since they were nowhere to be seen.

You stepped into the bathroom, letting the cold water run over your hands as you took deep breaths.

You needed to get out of here. But you didn't want to leave your friends. Especially with those guys and with how drunk they're getting.

You looked at yourself in the mirror, biting your lip before turning off the tap, quickly drying your hands before walking out. Before you could get to the main area, a large hand slipped around your waist, dragging you towards a hard chest. Your first thought was to scream but you smelt a familiar husky cologne brush against your nose.

"Tojj?" You whispered, unsure on if the alcohol In your system was playing tricks on you or not.

"Yeah...'s just me sweetheart."

You sighed in relief, looking up to see his dark eyes boring into yours.

"How'd you find us here?"

He hummed, looking away for a while before returning to your eyes.

"Well. Your Instagram pictures were a big hint."

Your face warmed when you realised Gojo must've seen them first.

"Where's Gojo?"

"Dunno. Might've crashed your little party. You know those guys?"

You let out a huff of air, turning around in toji's arms, his eyes pervertedly moving to your chest.

"No. just some random guys who can't flirt for shit." You trailed off, avoiding toji's gaze.

"Not surprised..."

Toji's eyes tailed over you again, you looked even better in person.

"Wanna go back?"

You looked at him and then at the crowd of people down the hall.

"Yeah but I can't just leave Ada and Diane here with them."

" 's fine... Gojo"ll take care of them. They're probably on their way back already."

You were confused at what Toji meant, moving over to the main area to peek at where your table was, only to see three guys you were with sat alone, their faces annoyed and dejected.

"Where did they-"

"Told you...I got it under control. Now C'mon."

Toji dragged you through the back entrance, without giving you time to question anything. Once you were both outside, you took in breaths of fresh air whilst trying to keep up with toji's large steps.

"Toji wait-"

He stopped abruptly, making you bump into his back.

"Somethin' wrong?"

"My feet hurt-" you whined, looking up at him, your glossy lips lightly pouting.

He looked down at your feet before meeting your eyes.

"Take em off."

You quickly took off your shoes and Toji picked them up before bending down, his arms holding behind your legs before pulling you over his shoulder, making you huff out in surprise.

You shuffled a bit, your ass wiggling lightly against the side of toji's face, his hand twitching in response.

"Yeah..."

Toji sighed, placing you onto your bed. He was surprised at how easily you got tired on the way back.

He planned on leaving you to sleep but your hand grabbed lightly at his shirt.

"Wait- you aren't gonna....help me out of this?"

Toji glanced back at you, your elbows propping you up whilst you lightly tilted your head. By now most of the alcohol had left your system, remnants being added to your confidence.

"The... Dress?"

You nodded, smiling at his reaction.

"It is tight afterall..."

Toji turned, your gaze on him never leaving as you sat up properly, waiting for Toji to make the first move. So, I was trying to figure out a bit of the timeline for a fic and found this interesting (to me) something here: (this is a fun analysis and probs won't go in the direction you expect lol)

The events between Retrace 42 to Retrace 45 happen over one and a half day at the most. Something in this order:

Break wakes up after being bedridden for three days, finds that he is almost fully blind,

Oz and gang have a discussion in his bedroom,

They prepare to find the second seal at Rytas' place, Sharon insists on joining them

They arrive at the village as per Duke Barma's orders and meet up with Gruner

Next day: The fight between Marie and Oz goes down, Rytas acknowledges his right to be shown the seal

Finally the Head Hunter attacks, kills every one present and destroys the Seal.

Next, in Retrace 45, we find Vincent and Ada on a date and they discuss the Head Hunter as well. (which is being discussed at around the same time by Leo and Elliot)

He asks her to tell everything about herself, her father, her uncle Oscar whom he is targeting for the Key to the Door of the Abyss. And this, if you remember, he mentions as part of his plan to obtain the Key in his discussions with the Baskervilles in Retrace 46.

Which means... the Vince-Baskervilles discussion happened before his date with Ada, or let's say, sometime after the Head Hunter attacked Rytas Mansion. Or, maybe, even on the same day cuz, of course, news spreads fast, you know.

Same day, the day the Seal got destroyed, which if you keep count of, is 3/3.5/4 days after the Sablier Arc, the day after Break woke up.

So here, the second seal has already been destroyed and Lottie is questioning why the chain Head Hunter, having some involvement with the Nightrays, is destroying the seals (supposed to be the Baskervilles' job)

Well, we know the answer to this, but that's not the interesting thing I wanted to point out.

It's that Lottie was mad af right from the start of this conversation. She is so grumpy here and even slams the seat to silence the group, which.... is so unlike her.

Because, she is usually the noisy and talkative one in this group. Back in the Lutwidge arc, Fang was struggling to keep her under control when they kidnapped Oz. (It's only after Fang died, she became full-on depressed.) But here, Fang, who is the voice of reason in this little ragtag group, is carefree and chatty and playing with Lily. Even the silent Doug is playing chess with Vincent.

It's strange that only Lottie should be so serious and frustrated here.

On reading this for the first time, I assumed this conversation is happening a week after the Seal was broken. annnnd, so, it didn't make any sense to me why she should be mad for so long either. She generally gives me the impression of being cool headed over most things.

But this is just utmost four days after Sablier.

So, my (not so) secret headcanon is that she is still mad, not at the Baskervilles for not getting to the second seal fast enough, not at the Head Hunter for breaking the seal either..... but at Break (lmao) cuz she is still not over what happened to her. As in, she is still confused frustrated because she couldn't get why and what the guy was aiming at?

As I said, this is interesting to me cuz I wanted to see her reaction after Sablier. I thought we never see it cuz the next time we see Break and Lottie interact again is at Isla Yura's place. They never ever openly react to anything nor openly give their inner thoughts that I have to pick up from small things like this.

Anyway, to continue, I imagined the Vince-Ada date in Retrace 46 and the dungeon scene happens as a continuity to the one in Retrace 45. that is, Vince and Ada roamed around the park for some time, visited the opera following which she takes him home.

But, their clothes are different in both? I suppose these are different dates they went on.

So no clear timeline of when the Opera Hall date happens. But the one in the park is definitely after he discusses his problem and solution of targeting Uncle Oscar through Ada with the Baskervilles.

These scenes happen a week later, though.

MetAmy and VinceAda; parallel hearts

This is such a random crossover but... I’ve started thinking about the Pandora Hearts Vincent x Ada parallels to metamy and I cannot stop thinking about it. There are so many interesting parallels to make between Vincent and Metal, as well as Ada and Amy, which makes for an interesting metamy dynamic through the lens of a Pandora Hearts AU of sorts, so this is what I’ll be talking about!

It’s Pandora Hearts’ 15th anniversary, so I’ve had it on the brain <3

Vincent truly is nasty and like... Wow comparing you to Metal is not a compliment- BUT his character is so complex and emptional aah, Man where do I start.

Also I’ll be indicating Pandora Hearts spoilers by italicizing them + putting them in brackets, I’ll be pretty vague with all of it, but I will mostly be talking about character psychology so backstory + personality, not really plot points or mystery pieces. Skip all the pictures if you want no spoilers, I try to pick ones that don’t spoil the context but some of them are still important moments and all. Besides that, Pandora Hearts also deals with dark psychological themes so, I don’t know, be ready for Vincent’s miserable mental state I guess

Vincent, white clover: “Please love me.”

Ok so first of all, similarities with Metal: 

Red eyes.

Which is very important in Vincent’s story and character. Vincent has heterochromia and one of his eyes is red, basically [he was labelled a demon child for it] which made his life very rocky & that caused a lot of trauma which explains parts of his behavior: [He suppresses emotions and manipulates, has extreme self-hatred issues and like, he assumes everyone is out to get him all the time. He’s very shut-off from the world and everyone around him. His singular most important story beat is guilt; how it distorted his self-image and how he acts.] Needless to say he has a complicated relationship with the color red, he hates it and it reminds him of so many horrible things, all while wearing red earrings. Just.... The fact that he wears that color, a color which is so tied with everything that went wrong in his past and why he’s a "monster", all while saying he loathes it. He hates it so much, he hates himself so deeply, but he still forces that self-hatred and guilt upon himself like torture and constant self-mockery.

Which I feel like it’s a really interesting take to apply to Metal. Red like his robotic eyes, designed to be intimidating. The most notable flaw in his physical imitation of Sonic the hedgehog. But also? Red is Sonic’s favorite color, and from that alone I think Metal would have complicated feelings about it. But also, what about it representing guilt, and everything that went wrong in his past? Well just from it being Sonic’s fav color I think it could remind me of the hero that the blue blur is every time Metal did something immoral and couldn’t be that hero himself, etc. It being a representation of all his troubles can be because as Sonic’s fav color it reminds him that he really just is a flawed copy and that was his existence’s meaning, his creation’s purpose. Or that since his red eyes are robotic, that they symbolize how he was born to fail at fitting in as as mobian and be happy, and again, was made to become the monster he is. Being robotic and also Eggman’s brand color, they remind him of the man who created him, who only cares about how useful to his plans he is. His red eyes symbolize all the reasons he couldn’t have lead a normal life. Pandora Hearts also does a parallel between red being the color of blood, the color of apocalypse, so in a darker universe it could also remind Metal of all the blood he has shed. Without mentionning how it’s generally seen as the color of evil. Eyes are the window to the soul, and his are the color of blood and evil 😢

I dunno just really love the parallel of both Vincent and Metal hating their red eyes & having identity issues and trauma born from it!

With that, onto the next similarity: 

Guilt.

Vincent has a generally sleazy behavior so like, it’s not like he has nothing to feel guilty about but [his guilt complex actually comes from 1 specific and hugely important event. I don’t wanna spoil but he was really a victim of circumstances there though, he’s not a straight up villain in that instance haha don’t worry.] But anyways what my point is: guilt creates a lot of emotional turmoil in him that he suppresses by being even more of an ass & wild card. He’s done bad stuff that he feels like he can never outrun and it haunts him. For him thought in general, it displays in his extreme apathy to others, their emotions and what happens to them, etc, he’s a numb yet selfish jerk.

Metal: we don’t have a lot of insight into his inner thoughts like... At all, but it’s pretty interesting to explore the multiple ways he could feel about everything, including battling with guilt about his actions. Especially if you like the theory that Metal truly is Sonic but transferred into a robotic body, or that he just wants to be loved and would prefer being heroic if he could. Anyways- we’re going down the guilt route, and in that case, him suppressing those feelings and covering them up in more anger and apathy and focus on self-gain just like Vincent would be very fitting and compelling, it’s in-line both with his canon actions and personality.

And this is where the shipping comes in....

Ada is supreme Amy material guys you have no idea. Absolute ray of warmth and good.

ALSO?? In an iconic comedic plot twist she’s revealed to have [an out of nowhere intense interest in the occult, being a witch] (like Amy’s tarot)

Vincent, you FOOL. You cannot contain the pure goodness that is Ada. So he had this weird manipulation self-destructive thing going on with Ada. [He woos her, she’s a useful pawn for him and that’s his plan, but also he has conflicted feelings about her because of his ideologies versus kind of liking her warmth and he keeps getting stunned at her being like, a good person lol. Mostly because she’s super caring and genuine. Anyways- so he’d sometimes like, push her, expecting her to push him away in turn or something, being satisfied that she “is like everyone else” and shouldn’t matter to him, but keeps getting proven wrong. And that’s what’s happening in this page. And omfg can we talk about how Ada is risking her wellbeing for him-]

Unwavering faith in people & unconditional support is such an Amy thing,,

Ok... There’s no easy way to go into this next part but,,, next up: 

Self-devaluation born from self-hatred and suicidal ideation  

I would just be spoilering this whole section’s text so skip it if you don’t want spoilers I guess? You can probably imagine where this goes from the discussion so far.

Vincent sees everyone around him as mere pawns to use for his goals and dehumanizes them as such, but he also does the same thing to himself. His goals aren’t for his own pleasure, they’re some grand worldview life mission thing and about his brother’s wellbeing. His day to day goal is to wallow in misery and be as self-destructive as possible yeesh. And ummm yeah he doesn’t like himself, and he wouldn’t mind dying while accomplishing his objectives, in fact that’s kind of his ideal ending. And like.... Yeah, that...... That’s not very good

But yeah that self-dehumanization of yourself as just another tool to use until it breaks is very interesting for Metal too. Because in a way that’s already canon. He has a looot of self-destructive tendencies in his tunnel vision to defeat Sonic. He claws away helping hands offering him an alternative, melted in lava, pushed himself in a race against Sonic to the point of physically breaking down, endangers himself at every turn. He doesn’t value his health nor wellbeing, only his achievements. With Sonic Heroes, Metal literally modified his body into an horrible inhumane monster in his drive to destroy Sonic; he literally modified his self and identity to use it as a means to beat him.
