#addiction is not a crime

I specifically called it substance abuse not because of the fact he smokes weed
The person this is about has used money meant for commissions to buy drugs and has allegedly given them to minors. I don’t care if you smoke weed, he does so to an excessive point
furthermore the FB post wasn’t some petty callout but a beware post because this is continuous behavior since at least 2020, he has been racist, transphobic, has sexted minors, has groomed them into starting a relationship with him and this has absolutely nothing to do with him being an anti, but that he’s a predator who uses anti circles and furry communities to prey on minors
I'm not defending this person's behavior. I'm telling you that addictive behavior is not a crime. What the money is being spent on should not be factoring into this equation. The point is that he is stealing it. If you genuinely cared about the people who are having their money stolen you'd only be stating that he is a scammer and warning people to be wary of suspicion claims for need of money or suspicious art commissions.
But you only care because he is spending that stolen money on addictive substances. You only changed your phrasing when I didn't share your post the way that you wanted me to with your vague view points because it looks better if everyone just agrees that drug usage = bad. And I'm sorry, but I do not agree with that sentiment. His drug usage is none of your business because he is an adult.
None of my argument has anything to do with me defending him as a person, or dismissing the claims of those minors who were taken advantage of or the people who had to call the police to get their animals and belongings back from him. I am defending addiction. Because if you blacklist one addict for making shitty choices with their drug usage, you may as well claim the whole community of addicts are shitty people just for having that one single trait of addiction in common with him.
Block him, tell your circle of friends to block him. But telling other strangers on the internet like myself to post callouts will get you absolutely nowhere.
If this person you're talking about is anything like the person from the tumblr rpc that harasses me on main which has been on-going since 2018, and it sounds like he is, then there is no stopping someone who has zero regret harming others no matter how many callouts you make or how much proof of behavior you post, or how many times you block or report them, or even if you call the cops for cyber crimes. He's going to keep crying that he's the victim, and he will always have people who don't know the whole situation being manipulated by him and ready to defend him. And in doing so, the behavior cycle will continue. The more you call him out, the more it feeds into his victim complex of making it all about him.
The best thing you can do to with people like this is give them no attention at all. You also need to understand that you cannot be responsible for the safety of the entire internet; you have to be responsible for yourself and let other people be responsible for themselves as well.

Alright. Willis Todd being an abusive father to Jason is a trope often utilized. Comparing this version of him to Bruce's reactions to Red Hood is fantastic. Lots to analyze there.
However, I raise you. There needs to be more fanwork addressing the classism behind Willis Todd being characterized as an abusive alcoholic. In some version of canon, Willis Todd was a good dad in a shitty situation. He was poor, his wife (Catherine) was sick, and he had a newborn baby he needed to provide for. In this horrid situation, where he has no family to fall back on and no higher education to obtain a decent well-paying job, he tries to get quick money. He's desperate to keep both his wife and son alive.
Catherine turns to drugs because it's easier and cheaper to buy drugs than healthcare. The pain she experiences is debilitating, and she'd do anything to not feel pain for one godsdamned second. Unfortunately, this turns into an addiction.
This ultimately shapes the way that Jason views crime. Bruce, while he may be sympathetic to individuals who resort to crime to pay their bills, will not understand huddling in Crime Alley in the dead of winter as he debates whether to buy food or pay for heating. He won't understand the bitterness, hatred, pain, and resignation of never having enough money to survive as you get chewed up again and again.
If Jason's dad is just an abusive criminal, that not only perpetuates the notion that all criminals are evil, but it will shape how Jason views those who commit crime. Breaking the law doesn't make someone bad. There's plenty of reasons people commit crime, whether to survive, protect someone, or something else. The issue, especially in Gotham, is the system that perpetuates wealth inequality through bribes and unethical governmental practices.
Anyway, I think Jason's Red Hood is more fleshed out if it accounts for him acknowledging the desperation behind goons and small-time criminals because he grew up without other options.

The federal government has denied Toronto's request to decriminalize simple possession of small amounts of drugs for personal use, saying it "does not adequately protect public health and maintain public safety."
"This includes concerns with feasibility and ability for law enforcement to implement the proposed model, protection of youth, and lack of support from key players including the Province of Ontario," Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Ya'ara Saks said in a statement released Friday afternoon.
Ottawa's decision came a day after the Ontario government urged the city to drop the request, which it called "misguided" and "disastrous." [...]
Toronto's drug decriminalization request returned to the spotlight after British Columbia's request to recriminalize the use of select drugs in many public spaces following problems which arose from an exemption order previously granted to the province.
Dr. de Villa, in a statement Friday evening, said now that decriminalization, which she called as just one "evidence-informed policy tool", was no longer an option, "the need to invest in other available evidence-based interventions is all the more critical." [...]

time 4 me to rant abt house again. tragically i think abt that old man constantly
so let's talk about the demonization of addiction in the show, specifically in season 7 + season 8. sorry if this is formatted really weirdly or doesn't make the most sense but i'm not sorry enough to change it
house is an addict. this is an incontrovertible truth. house does not stop being an addict once he gets sober, and i think the show treats that fact in a downright cruel way. this extends through a LOT of parts of the show, particularly in the ways that house and his pain management are treated, but none of them make me quite as angry as season 7.
in season 7, house relapses. he relapses because he is terrified. house is not good at coping and we all know this, and he spent many years coping with vicodin. it made his life easier to live in so many ways!! but in season 7, he's sober (and his pain is being managed in such a shitty way but WHATEVER) and he's faced with the frankly terrifying thought of his partner having cancer, and he relapses! there is literally nothing wrong with this. relapsing is normal and okay and not an issue. recovery from addiction is not a straight line! relapsing doesn't mean you have failed or that your recovery is ruined or damaged. relapsing is common and normal and something to be treated with kindness and patience and support.
when house relapses, cuddy responds with anger and breaks up with him. i do not understand a universe where cuddy is an accomplished doctor, a kind person, and the partner of an addict, and yet she reacts the way she does to his relapse. it is utterly unbelievable to me because it is so fucking incredibly out of character.
not only is this unbelievably out of character, it is so fucking cruel. for a show with a relatively okay/nuanced depiction of addiction and disability to take such a sharp turn into "once you relapse you are a failure" is so....... demoralizing and saddening. they decided house is a failure because he relapsed. they decided house should lose the people who love him because he relapsed. they decided that house should commit literal and actual attempted vehicular manslaughter as a snowball effect result of relapsing. i don't understand how the show went that direction, and frankly it makes me so fucking sad to see

Do you guys really believe that killing is the singular bad thing that cops do?
Or even that killing is the most frequent bad thing that cops do?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Are you saying that if cops didn't kill, then they'd be the same as Batman? Because then you're suggesting that effectively Batman already is a cop, with the exception that he hasn't killed (just like the majority of U.S. cops, who have never once shot or killed anybody).
I'm a bit worried to see opinions suggesting that only killing is wrong—and that violence, stalking, and humiliation are okay. In real-life, police commit countless acts of those "little" abuses, terrorizing entire communities, before they murder anybody.
Invading people's privacy is wrong. Hurting people to the point of hospitalization is wrong. Forcibly drugging people is wrong. Putting people in cages is wrong. Torture and "enhanced interrogation" are wrong. Ambushing people in their homes and safe places is wrong. Keeping inexhaustible wealth is wrong.
Superhero comics are power fantasies. Not all fantasies need to reflect our ideology in reality. But once you apply your real-life values to fiction, once you decide that fiction showcases exemplary real-life ideology—then your praise for Batman's ideology does become a worrying reflection of your real-life understanding of social issues.
