1. favorite movie? probably rogue nation, but fallout is a very close second. for how objectively dark the syndicate is as a villain, rogue nation is just. such a fun film?? easily one of the funniest in the franchise. [see: the car chase in morocco for some of the funniest m:i material] i think the main reason why i like it so much is all the benji and ethan content, and generally all the team content we get. plus it’s the first introduction of ilsa and i adore her, i freakin love rogue nation so much.

BUT DON'T KNOCK FALLOUT. it is a direct sequel to rogue nation and it expands so much on all of the stuff the previous film established, while also continuing the character-centered focus. fallout is a lot darker in my eyes and still emotionally hurts me [hunley my beloved he did NOT deserve to die :(((((] everything about it is just. so fucking good?? the stunts, the characters, everything. basically ghost protocol through fallout was where the series peaked.

14. HEADCANONS!!! most of mine are. pretty silly but i'll share them regardless!

i believe with all of my heart that ethan is definitely still a theater kid [in spite of all the retconning they've done you can take theatre major ethan out of my cold dead hands] and i think he does enjoy musicals. his favorites would probably be fiddler on the roof, les misérables, and hadestown. he has 100% cried during all of them.

benji enjoys horror, but only horror games because he cannot handle horror movies. he pondered for an entire week after playing mouthwashing for the first time.

luther is a foodie. he knows all the best places to eat in london because of how much time they've spent there, and he keeps an entire list of all of them that the team is still working through.

ilsa was briefly a film major, but she's still a sleeper cinephile. she doesn't seem like that kind of person at first glance, but once you start watching something with her and she starts pointing out different things like dialogue, camerawork, lighting, etc etc. it can either be very interesting or very annoying.

brandt has a surprising amount of knowledge about wildlife and he often startles the team whenever he mentions that the random bird they saw was actually a graylag goose.

hunley is a deceivingly good artist. like. the man paints and does printmaking in his spare time and his pieces are fucking gorgeous. he's had his stuff displayed before in small art galleries when he was in college but he unfortunately had to drop art as a career because of parental pressure, but he still does a lot of art in his spare time.

grace likes to collect trinkets, mainly vinyl pins. she's stolen so many from unsuspecting ita bags.

paris got introduced to cookie run kingdom and got into it way faster than she'd like to admit. it's mainly dark cacao cookie's fault.

degas would 100% be the one to bring a stray cat into the safehouse. actually he has done that before and he named her stormy cause she was grey. she's now the unofficial mascot of their team.

I'd say that something that really motivates me is reading the finished product or the possibility of making something regarding it that could be maybe more intresting then writing the acutal thing so then I push myself to write it and do the thing that I find more interesting as a reward for writing it! So basically I set a kind of reward system up for myself and write along with it :)

Hector knows this is for him. Something so thin and skimpy certainly doesn’t look comfortable, nor practical.

He would take great care to appreciate not only them but the outfit. Careful to remove it and have it saved for later.

Especially with some of the French lingerie available, it leaves little to the imagine, or too much for fantasy.

Flustered, Ritcher would probably put his foot in his mouth about how impractical it is to sleep in or try to compliment them by saying they don’t need it because they are beautiful but instead saying “what’s the point in that” or something.

Rando question because of your old name. What were your thoughts on bloodlines? I've never been able to get tea on it from another person because, sadly, not many people know it exists in my orbit.

omg. god knows how many years i had a vampire academy url and i got like no va asks. this is my time. this is my moment. i'm so sorry in advance that this is going to be more than you bargained for.

okay so. i enjoyed bloodlines a lot. i know many people in the fandom love bloodlines even more than va. that tends to be because of sydrian. for me personally, while bloodlines is a great read that explores some fascinating concepts and relationship dynamics, it doesn't hit for me quite as well as va does for a number of reasons.

first, the development of The Lore is excellent. in particular, i love seeing the effects of everything that changed in va play out in the background. from the moroi combat movement and the bloodborne strigoi resistance from restoration to the to the political fallout of lissa's ascension to the throne, everything that happened becomes so much more substantial and impactful. it feels like meeting the alchemists and the dhampir community in blood promise—the vampire world expanded from rose's little circle in the US to the international community in a way that made her struggle with her responsibility as a guardian feel much more real.

as an extension of the worldbuilding, i love how flawlessly sydney's internal struggle with breaking out of her conditioning to accept magic and growing to care for the moroi intertwines with the development of the universe. the witches are an excellent addition, because they bridge the gap of a potentially insurmountable power imbalance (due to compulsion, as we see with the whole dabbling thing) between moroi and humans (read: sydrian). sydney is empowered to overcome the fear component of her alchemist upbringing, which opens the door for her to have healthy relationships with moroi and dhampirs. that's especially in contrast (and comparison to) trey and the warriors of light. we also get to see the power and depth of the alchemist organization, especially within the family unit, which emphasizes just how brave sydney (and marcus) have to be to fight against it.

however, the overarching plot (particularly toward the final few books), sort of falls flat. ruby circle is definitely rushed and under-edited, and doesn't feel like a natural continuation of the series up to that point. alicia is a boring villain with no real build-up or depth. she is not remotely compelling, which is saying something in a series where every character, good and bad, faces a universal struggle against an enemy race with no redeemable or non-evil characteristics. like, the anonymous person calling the tattoo parlor was right. there. use it to set up something better! and sydrian going from barely together to married to becoming parents without any substantial intra-relationship struggle as a result of those changes over the course of like...three months (much of which sydney was in captivity) is...a choice.

on that note, the character development is a bit of a mixed bag for me. from jill and neil to ms. terwilliger and even abe, almost everyone grows in such fascinating and often unexpected ways. yet, sydney herself blows them all out of the water. the way she goes through the essential unlearning phase of "i know logically i'm wrong, but it still feels like i'm right" is a masterclass in deprogramming. how she learns to let go without dumbing herself down or losing touch with the things she values and cherishes about herself? life-changing for me, personally. also. let it be known that if jackie and malachi have no supporters, i am dead.

but i do feel let down by many of the characters in this department. namely, zoe. believe me, i was not expecting her to turn into a vampire supporting anti-alchemist hippie like her sister. her primary flaws are explained extremely well, and for those i don't fault her. but i cannot name a single time she is not, at the very LEAST, unpleasant. it makes sense why sydney loves her. it is consistent with who sydney is (see: keith's eyeball) that she is so fiercely protective over zoe. but zoe doesn't really have any good moments with sydney which might explain why sydney actually LIKES spending time with her. it's especially jarring in comparison to sydney's general disdain (which i read as jealousy and resentment) for carly, who she classifies as "useless." carly's one scene is more compelling than a whole book (and then some) of zoe.

much more importantly, though, adrian to me is a bit of a letdown. first, i do want to say that i like sydrian, and in particular sydrian through fiery heart and in the epilogue. i liked adrian's character in va and was excited to see him grow. but...he never really seems to do so. undoubtedly, rose was nothing close to perfect in how she handled the adrian situation, especially with everything in last sacrifice. but to paint rose as this evil seductress who he graciously forgives while never ONCE acknowledging the ways he treated her is astonishing. the fact that he doesn't reflect on it even when what he does to nina mirrors what rose did to him? and to never once acknowledge the way he's used his privilege as a royal to perpetuated harms against "lesser" races (which INCLUDES the way he otherized rose as a dhampir and put her life and career at risk by using her as a pawn against his parents), even when sydney discovers his past with dabbling?

yes, adrian develops tremendously with regards to his family, his mental illness, and his addiction. but we never really see him value his recovery and health as something important not just to sydney, but to himself. despite having the knowledge and the means to seek treatment, he spends half of silver shadows spiraling down a path of self-destruction while sydney is trapped. and, there's good reason for that—he has to go off the meds to try and reach her with spirit. but he acts as if he's the only one who cares about sydney (or him, for that matter) and goes at it alone. he doesn't think to call sonya to ask her to help him get off the meds responsibly? or, knowing what he knows about avery lazar, consider what the consequences will be for jill? and on top of all that, not even bother to defend his relationship with sydney to his mother?

healing is not a straight line, but adrian's actions in silver shadows just erase all the progress he made before that and then some. which would be fine, and also interesting, if only he'd made improvements to himself after that. but the most i can say about adrian by the end of ruby circle is that he knows HOW he needs to change and is extremely willing to do so. which is great! but we never actually get to see it happen. and if you're going to have dual narration and promote adrian from the love interest to a main protagonist, we've got to see him grow. that said, the glimpse we get of him in the epilogue demonstrates to me that he DOES go through that development, and it makes me much more optimistic for his and sydney's futures. i just really wish we'd gotten to see it happen.

FINAL RECKONING SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!!

2. oooh, favorite stunt? easy: the submarine scene from final reckoning. everything about it, from the first reveal of the russian submarine right behind the Ohio, discovering the sunken Sevastopol, the corpses in the main bay, the torpedo parkour, getting the podkova and the race to get out, all the way to cutting off the suit and the fucking gorgeous shot of ethan floating up into the ice. but it’s the soundtrack and the sound design that really sells the scene. it perfectly captures the cold, dark silence of the arctic sea and exploring a vessel brought down by a nonhuman being. it’s fucking terrific and terrifying.

as an honorable mention, i also adore the final climax fight at the end of fallout. ethan simultaneously trying to keep his helicopter in the air while also trying to bash walker out of the sky? the flashing between them and benji + ilsa fighting lane? the race to deactivate the bombs? THE FINAL CLIFF FIGHT OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE THE CLIFF FIGHT.

4. all-time favorite scene?? ooooughh that’s hard, but i think it’s a tie between the immediate aftermath of the explosion in the doomsday vault and when ethan gets the detonator in fallout. having the only source of light for a few moments be the entity trapped inside of the drive, and how its light is what reveals that donloe, tapeesa, and degas all survived the explosion really sells the idea that humanity has won. humanity triumphed over the coldness of a vicious ai through the warmth of human determination and hope. the same goes for when ethan gets the detonator in fallout, where you have that split second of thinking that maybe they did fail, maybe the bombs did go off- until the light clears and reveals the sun is still shining. i absolutely love ethan pulling himself up onto the cliffside and just laying there in the glow, as it brings us back into the reality that he’s a normal person, a person who isn’t superpowered or anything like that, but who did the unimaginable in order to help humanity survive another day.

11. i currently only have one mission impossible oc but i do want to make more in the future! my main oc at the moment is alex stryker, they’re a demolitions expert [he can both disable and build bombs] and they’re part of hunt’s team! i’ll probably make a bigger post about him in the future.

17. another m:i movie if it was up to me??? uhm, that’s hard. i’d probably like to see a sort of follow-up to final reckoning in specifically having the remaining members of the entity cult be the villains. make them sorta like the syndicate but up the crazy by 100, let them be like “well if the entity couldn’t eradicate humanity we’ll do it ourselves”. i’d love to see it lean more into horror aspects because objectively the job of keeping the world from falling apart is absolutely horrifying and i want to see our favorite imf agents dealing with the effects of that. other than that i don’t really know what else i’d like to see in a potential m:i movie.

“What else did you expect me to do?!” They snap back at him. “Sit back while lives are at stake? Let that monster destroy more while we wait for a ‘safe�� opportunity? I saw an opening and I took it.”

“At the risk of your own life for the safety of others!” He yelled at her. “How would that have helped if you died!?”

“Why are you so angry?! I did the right thing, and it worked out, so you are yelling about something that didn’t even happen!”

“Because I love you and if you died all of this would be for nothing!”

The fight stops immediately. Both parties realizing what Alucard had just said, and the implications of his confession. “You…love me?”

Alucard hissed through his teeth. “So, you are blind as well as foolish.” He clipped at them. His hand coming up to his face to try and soothe his coming headache, and push his hair out of his face. “I have tethered my heart to an idiot.”

“Hey! Don’t call me an idiot!”

“Then stop being an idiot.”

The fight resumes with new fuel to the fire as Alucard continues to reprimand his paramour on their recklessness and they argue that the ends justify the means.

“Should we stop them?” Sypha asked as she watched them argue along with Trevor.

“Nah, let ‘em keep going. This is the kind of fight that leads to babies. Old boy could use it after today.”

Adrián was one of those kids that would wear a tshirt and shorts no matter what weather it was, so in white forest she’s completely unaffected by the weather, she’s been training for this LMAO

Adrian is partially deaf because of the helicopter explosion, Alyx already knows ASL (that’s not even a hc that’s just canon) so communication between them was just fine, Alyx was also very eager to show off her sign language skills.

Alyx and Adrian argue CONSTANTLY over random bullshit, mainly pertaining to pre res-cas stuff ex: weather or not a fish is an animal, Adrian argues it is, Alyx argues it’s not. Random examples of things they’d fight over: this, and this

Alyx is touchy, Adrian is not, Alyx is used to affection and physical touch and does it often even when she’s not thinking about it, it ALWAYS gets Adrian freaked out and nervous.

I hc Adrian as transfem (uses she/he) but she’s perfectly fine/comfortable in her body and with how she looks as is, the one thing she’s not so much comfortable with is her face and avoids taking off her mask as much as possible, over time though she learns to love her face 🥹

Alyx is hyper mobile and double jointed and likes doing freaky shit with her body because it scares Adrian.

Despite the fact she’s a lot smaller than Adrian in physique Alyx can EASILY overpower Adrian (she did beat up 6 cops), regardless Adrian still picks fights she can’t win.

They do match each others freak, just never at the same time, Adrian will say or do some bullshit, Alyx will just say “ok man.” and vice versa.

Adrián is bad at eye contact meanwhile alyx STARES into her soul and it makes Adrian nervous.

I have a vision in my head of a scene in white forest where they hear a hunter in the woods rapidly approaching them, they both start panicking and Adrian just slings her over her shoulder and books it.

Adrian says alyx’s jokes/quips are stupid but she finds them charming, in like a “that’s so fucking stupid but it’s also kinda funny, lowkey got me giggling a lil” way, Alyx KNOWS Adrian thinks they’re funny but Adrian won’t admit it.

Adrian has naturally long eyelashes, Alyx thinks her eyes are very pretty and stares often.

Alyx also was very curious about what Adrian looks like under the mask, before Adrian took it off she pressed a bit about her face to which Adrian dismissed, she didn’t really bring it up again but she does stare a lot trying to see if she could make out details through the visors/sides of the mask.

at one point Alyx got injured and stuck with a bunch of busted pipes spraying toxic gas, Adrian takes off her mask to put it on alyx and carries her outta there, when she wakes up later that’s when she sees Adrian’s face clearly for the first time.

To me what drives them together is the fact that they all the other has to rely on, in white forest humanity and the combine have been wiped out, the only thing on earth are some aliens and animals that survived (and maybe Gordon 🤫) but in terms of people, they are all there is, and while yeah that sucks, it’s also comforting to know that at least they aren’t completely alone, they at least have someone. Bc of that they get very attached to each other, even though they don’t get along as well in the beginning they are still driven to protect/help the other regardless.

Then he would just casually, arrogantly take his time searching, knowing full well where she is the entire time—her barely-there giggles always give her away too. She can hear him moving about, hissing from time to time.

For added anticipation and to make it fun for her, he might even taunt her a little or give her false praises—“I see you’ve hidden yourself well, darling. Best not make a sound. I’m coming for you.”

He’d use his speed to search in the wrong places first, musing out loud for her to hear. “Not here? Hmm.“

“Where have you gone, you cheeky girl?”

“I know where you are, woman. Show yourself. If I catch you first…” (As if she’d dislike the repercussions 🤣)

Eventually, he’d end the charade and silently appear where he knows she has been the entire time, whispering a “Boo!” before he captures his prize in his arms and lifts her off the ground. 😭

“Found you,” he would say, touching their foreheads together.
