Went from the laughingstocks of the Deathball League to the pride of New Athens 🏆
Lou Ellen is mischievous, easily flustered, welcoming, passionate, and determined
Ethan is a cynical bad boy with a heart of gold who is sweet and cocky in part to hide his deep insecurities about his place in the world.
Clovis is cynical, compassionate, flirty, drowsy, irritable, and a lazy student but extremely intelligent
Hazel is bright, outgoing, courageous, and feisty. She starts the most brawls on the Deathball court
Holly is fearless, hot-tempered, confrontational, playful, and tough but has a soft and playful side
Miranda is a cheerful, optimistic, and passionate soul, her happiness and excitement is as intense as her anger, but she's a master at chaneling it in clever ways to teach people not to mess with her
Alabaster is independent, friendly, reliable, and understanding, but reluctant to trust new people
Damien is bold, brazen, cheerful, and tries to get along with everyone, but he has a mischievous side that's usually brought out when he's around his brother

I saw on the PJO side of TikTok cause I was trying to find some book Percy Edits.
And I saw something saying about Annabeth that said "Annabeth is too good for Any Man, Annabeth Is too good for Percy".
And I just started laughing, like I wanted to comment something but I honestly knew that if I did I was definitely gonna get Attacked.
But I found that TikTok very funny because they seriously thought Annabeth was too good for Percy when In Reality it's the other way around.
Like she should be Lucky she's even dating Percy cause if Percy even had a ounce of Self-worth he would know that he deserves better than Annabeth and CAN do better than Annabeth.
Like most of this fandom doesn't understand how much of a Catch Percy is and it annoys me so much
Like he's So far out of Annabeth's league it's not even funny
Imo he's way out of Everyone's League but what do you think about that?
.... What I think is a little bit sensitive.
Look, I really don't like how media portray "feminism" and how that media actually shaped how people especially girls herselves should act and behave.
From early 2000 to here, "feminism" media is about making the woman be a badass/extra intelligent/rude - while passing rude as girlbossing - who doesnt need any help - especially if it comes from a man - and reduce the man to either "stupid boyfriend who cant do anything without her"/"in dark romance they are sanctified because they would commit genocide but he wouldnt harm the girl and do everything she pleases"/"vile stupid idiot sexist who needs to be beaten up by the strong girl mc"
It is literally 50/50. Men are not equal to his partner in those relationships. They are bellow their girlfriend in literally... everything. In other words.... They are used as plot devices to prop up the female mc. It is as boring as the girl being only there to be what drives a man in the narrative.
Like. Their entire personality is reduced to that. And while sometimes that may work in the story, as you know a character in which the purpose in the story is especifically to haunt the narrative like how Epic treats OdyPen - all the new media is streaming this kind of thing and yelling "we are feminist".
No. You are just playing with sexism and believing you are being woke.
It is annoying. It is bland. It is cheap.
Why that long discourse? Because Fandom and Riordan since HoO is making Percabeth and especially Annabeth fall into this category. Where her flaws are not treated as flaws, actually they are praised. She doesn't grow, she acts worse then when she was 12 in many ways, especially regarding her treatment of Percy. Percy is always at fault, and Annabeth is always in the right. The entire dynamic of Percabeth is basically Percy trying to appease Annabeths feelings and insecurities and fears while they are in supernatural adventures, and when it comes to Annabeth, Percy always has to sacrifice something for her, while all of his own traumas are put in second place and in return Percy is mocked, disrespected and physically assaulted, guilty blamed many times by someone that should care for him as much as he cares for her.
For godamm sake, Riordan made Percy incapable of tying his own shows and Annabeth needing to speak up for him, because according to Annabeth Grover and Percy were in awe in Hecates presence because she was a goddess in WoTG.
(You know, the same Grover who is the lord of nature and lived around Dionysus since he was born. The same Perseus who fought gods, titans and giants, who looked at the face of many gods and treats them either as friendly (like Hermes) or openly passive agressive. Perseus who was named Praetor and directly responsible for the fall of Typhoon in the Last Olympian. The same Percy who saved her life from primordials and monsters down in Tartarus. It is the first time in my entire life I see a MC be devolved so terribly on page only to prop up his own girlfriend in the narrative) I will stop here because talking about wotg is bad for my mental health.
In a relationship both people have to deserve each other. It is not about who is stronger. Who is smarter. Who comes from which family. It is about what they do for one another, what they do with each other and put it on the balance. They have to respect each other. They have to cheer each other up. They need to be each other safe place. Where they can be themselves free of cruel criticism, but still be able to grow and envolve to the best versions of one another. (I am highlighting "cruel" because that is important. I am not meaning construtive criticism.)
I will say it till my dying day: PJO Percabeth (the five original main books) it had everything to be a great couple. There were problems, of course, but they could easily - and I mean easily - be solved with the right narrative decisions. They had everything to be as great as hiccstrid in term of the relationship development and (as important as the other) individual development.
From HoO ahead: Annabeth doesnt deserve Percy and Percy deserves someone better.
#pjo#anti percabeth#anti annabeth chase#percabeth critical#percabeth crit#THIS IS TAGGED CORRECTLY#if you guys dream in coming to this post stir hate will be block on sight#not kidding#i am not going to entertain idiotic and agressive/hateful comments#i have more things to stress than your lack of respect#with that said#thank you for the ask!#delia speaks#delia has mail#if the relationship was built surrounding their toxicity as something that exists within the text#i wouldnt have much of a problem#i have many couples that are not the healthiest pair out there#one that comes in mind is soukoku#they were never meant to be healthy#but percabeth is put on a pedestal#annabeth is put on a pedestal#as a golden perfect couple#and as a perfect female character#and they are not#they are very far from it#and the fanbase only add insult to the injury#the ONLY time Annabeth sacrifices something for Percy was that dagger#and guess what#it is from the original series#i tought i have seen a fandom turn the blind eye to the couples toxicity in destiel and sasusaku but percabeth is another level

Was talking with a friend about the changes in middle grade books over the past few decades, and we brought up His Dark Materials and Ender’s Game as examples of books meant for young readers that are very complex and meaningful, in a way a lot of newer middle grade doesn’t seem to be. And I think I realized why.
His Dark Materials and Ender’s Game don’t just try to entertain kids. They try to connect with them. And they succeed. They reach out and say “hey, I know being a kid sucks. I know that the adults treat you like you’re not even a person sometimes. They experienced what you are right now and they hated it, but they grew up and thought it was normal. And they forgot. And that’s wrong. The world shouldn’t be like that.” And it’s just so nice, as a kid, to hear a book say that.
I think that a lot of modern middle grade books focus more on entertainment. “Wouldn’t it be cool if…” And yeah, that’s great. Escapism is fun, and I’m a huge fan of silly self-indulgent things, for people at any age. But those books don’t tend to stick with us as adults as much as books like HDM and Ender’s Game do. Books that said something about the world and that connected with us when we were struggling in ways the world refused to acknowledge.
Though not necessarily to the same degree, I can see why Percy Jackson lives on so strongly in the minds of people my age. It was written as a story for Riordan’s son, and as an audhd “problem” kid, I connected to it a lot. The idea of struggling in school for reasons that other people can’t seem to understand, the feeling that you live in another world from the rest of the kids, that was me. Not because of monsters, but because of my autism. Plus, there is a decent amount of “the adults are wrong sometimes.” in those books. And things like Percy giving up godhood to make the gods pay more attention to their kids is definitely a relatable fantasy for many children. Not to mention the presence of prominent queer characters in Riordan’s later works, which was a lot of kids’ first exposure to queer characters.
All of these books deal with some interesting topics. HDM talks about religion and exploitation. Ender’s Game deals with bad authority figures and more exploitation. PJO tackles abuse and grief. All three books are occasionally heavy. The characters suffer. But they don’t only suffer. There’s also joy and adventure and excitement, and the two sides mix together well, neither negating the other.
Actually, thinking on it, the running theme with these books and these authors is that they respect children as people. They well and truly want to connect with children and make their books not just enjoyable but also relatable. They confront actual issues kids face (abuse, exploitation, questions about their identity, complicated relationships, etc.) and they don’t baby their readers, while still staying at a level that keeps kids engaged.
#morrigan.text#morrigan reads#his dark materials#ender’s game#percy jackon and the olympians#percy jackson#PJO#rick riordan#phillip pullman#orson scott card#my copy of Ender’s Game actually has an intro by the author where he talked about kids sending him letters about how SEEN they felt#how much they related to Ender. and yeah.

I have found that I just really don’t care for the PJO show anymore. I don’t care about season one. I don’t care about upcoming season 2. I don’t care about all that’s coming out about season 3 right now. I don’t care about the Nico casting even tho Nico has always been my number 1 blorbo that I’ve been obsessed with for the better part of 10 or 11 years. I just don’t care about the show anymore.
I wish good luck to all the child actors involved and I hope everyone can be normal and respectful towards them and keep the characters they’re obsessed with separate from the actors that play them.
But other than that I really don’t care. I feel like I’ve moved on from baby titans curse Nico a long time ago. The Nico in my head is a lot much older and has grown into an adult with me over the years. I am simply not interested in some 10-12 year old plying a very outdated version of Nico whose character will probably be butchered and retconned and changed so much anyway just like all the other characters were in season 1 (in my opinion. If this is not your opinion that’s fine perceive the show characters how ever you want just please don’t fight with me)
I simply refuse to associate a real human child person with the fictional adult Nico that’s running around in my head having adult adventures and shipping him with so many characters including a bunch of gods and putting him through through rated R horror movies in my daydreams. Not only do I refuse but I think I’m simply not capable of associating some actor kid with my version of Nico I just can’t do it it’s not possible.
I’ve always been more into the weirder sides of fandom and the weird strange characters like Nico since I was very young child even before I was into PJO I always liked the weirder things and I just. I just don’t think we should throw this weirdness at the child actors. The PJO has been around for about 20 years now. The lightning theif came out in 2005. There’s been a lot of weirdness over the years some of which I enjoy and some is not my cup of tea but like. I feel like the kids shouldnt be objected to that unless they themselves when they get a little older involve themselves in the weirder parts of the fandom and even then we still need to be respectful towards them and not bully them for liking weird things (like so many in the PJO fandom have been bullied for like me). I just hope everyone can keep this in mind.

percy jackson headcanons + picrews (long post, hcs under the cut. only grover, annabeth, and percy. i use the homestuck troll quadrants to describe their relationships)
in order: annabeth, percy, grover
some notes on their designs: they all have a lot more scars, grover’s mainly being on his legs from running through forests, annabeth’s mainly being on her sides (as she gets too cocky during fights and leaves them open on accident), and percy’s mainly being on her chest. annabeth and percy look really similar, but they’re not intended to be, just how picrew works ykyk. grover wears sunglasses and really baggy clothes to hide his goat features. percy is fem as hell and would prob love skirts, but i didnt really like any of them in the picrew.
percy
🐟 if you think hes cis, straight, or white ur crazy
🐟 on that note. Trans girl who uses she/he/bite, biromantic asexual but romance repulsed attraction to men due to trauma, and she’s latino, black, and libyan
🐟 i see people headcanon her name as persephone a lot and while i do love that to me shes parand and still goes by percy!
🐟 middle kid regressor, prob 7-13. i dont think bite would change much in terms of personality, besides maybe being louder due to lack of volume control
🐟 solarpunk, afropunk, hopepunk, and underseapunk for sure. she is an ACTIVIST!!! he, his siblings, his mom, and grover go to protests together im correct
🐟 fav bands: my chemical romance, pleasure venom, fea, meet me @ the altar, the tuts, and la armada. i dont listen to pierce the veil but maybe them too?
🐟 sharkhearted, aquatickin, and oceankin!
🐟 radicalized the rest of the 7, and while bite grew up with punk beliefs (ty sally), i think thalia was the one who gave her the final push ykyk?
🐟 he is NOT skinny and he does NOT have a 6 pack!! listen. most of bites exercise comes from combat and strength training. and typically, strength training (ESPECIALLY combat) doesnt focus heavily on bodybuilding. My girl is big and has muscles and is proud
🐟 collects comic books, legos, and video games! favorite comic run is napalm lullaby, doesnt have a favorite lego set but has a small ocean animals one she bought second hand that she pulls apart and puts together again for comfort, and she doesnt have a favorite video game but the one she replays the most is is sonic adventures 2! video games are his special interest (did i mention i hc him as autistic. Well that too. bite’s audhd dyslexic)
🐟 isnt dating annabeth anymore (in my perfect world). the two broke up and both are way happier and healthier as adults. i think that annabeth needed to be away from percy to get better, and percy COULDNT be better with annabeth.
🐟 (i do think theyd have the best femme&butch solidarity as friends once they are both ready to do so! just need time for healing and all, ykyk?)
🐟 jason is her ex-moirail and her auspitice for her and annabeth! jason stops them from entering an abusive pitch relationship. used to be clarrise’s kismesis, but broke it off to take a break from relationships (reason he broke off from being jason’s moirail)
annabeth
📘 i dont have many hcs for her because to me, shes a better character concept then character
📘 my girl is butch trust meeee. “oh shes so fem and percys strong fem gf” HER? HERR?? THAT ANNABETH? OUR ANNABETH?
📘 she/they demi-caedromantic butch lesbian demigirl. i think a lot of pjo characters like multiple genders in theory, but due to trauma, have lost most (or all) attraction to them. to me, she used to be interested in romance, but fell off from that after everything happened
📘 does NOT get good grades. I love her and i think shes actually smart because she likes to study, but like… my girl has dyslexia and adhd. and their mom is the goddess of WISDOM, not INTELLIGENCE. theres no way theyre getting all As and Bs
📘 afropunk and anarchopunk. shes not as active in local scenes due to them bouncing around (though their heart will always be in the punk scene in LA), but if theres a protest in her general area THEYRE GOING. i also think theyre riot grrrl but only after ending her relationship with percy and getting better as a person
📘 fav bands (during relationship, im not sure what she’d listen to post-percabeth): mel bryant & the mercy makers, the muslims, pat the bunny, mischief brew, big joanie, violent femmes, boygenius. i think she was largely influenced by grover and thalia, but starts really developing her own music taste when they settle down in their own life
📘 her hair is FUCKED UP. she tries to take good care of it!! they really do!! but after years of living in a camp with not a whole lot of access to supplies for their hair type, and then living on a BOAT with even LESS access, their hair is really damaged. all the seven have fucked up hair, but theirs especially, since they were under so much stress that she didn’t care much for upkeep.
📘 was radicalized to be anarchopunk and afropunk by thalia, but became riot grrrl thanks to piper’s influence
📘 not autistic (in the books, maybe the show). i personally dont see her as having many autistic traits (though they DEF have adhd traits and its insane people dont acknowledge that a lot). but yeah i just? cant see it? idk
📘 when they were dating percy they didnt realize they didnt actually have feelings and was just comphet. this led to a really unhealthy relationship. then by the time she realized the feelings had developed to just hate and they felt bad leaving. they eventually separated and she got a lot better
📘 away from dating for a while, but has a small, unrequited pale crush on piper
grover
🫐 GROVERRRRR guys hes one of my favs unironically
🫐 mixed african american-indian guy whos a t4t bisexual trans guy and uses he/him. “oh but all satyrs are male” yeah but also this is a book series that has been inaccurate about greek mythology since the beginning so shh
🫐 carries iron supplements with him because while he’s used to relying on hay and feed for iron, he can’t exactly do that disguised as a human
🫐 his handwriting is SHIT. i think most of his handwriting comes from signing himself up for things so that means he constantly looks like he’s signing his signature. only juniper can somewhat make it out and thats because hers is just as bad
🫐 solarpunk, afropunk, and hopepunk!!!! he is literally the og solarpunk trust me.
🫐 fav bands: punk on toast, earth 2 tiffany, tell everyone we’re dead, the tuts, be steadwell, zaphyria
🫐 age regresses to rlly young with no cg! he doesnt particularly want one either? hes just doing his own thing. percy is his playmate :)
🫐 not my headcanon but my friend says hed be really tenderheaded, like as in “can barely do his own hair without it hurting”. idk how accurate this is but i agree because my friend says so
🫐 used to get roped into the stoll’s pranks. he’d help them sneak onto the strawberry trucks, steal things, etc. eventually stopped as he got more anxious, but he and the stolls are still fairly close and he’ll still help them play pranks on occasion
🫐 fruits are his ultimate safe foods! strawberries, apples, whatever! he keeps a packet of fruit on him everywhere he goes for snacks
🫐 sees thalia, annabeth, and percy as his younger siblings. i think he deserves to be their proud older brother, as a treat <3. used to see luke as the same way, but not anymore for obvious reasons
🫐 juniper is her one and only matesprit!

MEET MY PARTY!
PJO Ocs Edition
So I had the silly idea of introducing the main characters of Immortal Legacy, the PJO based rp campaing I've been playing with my friends since 2019! After so many years, we've done a lot of adventures together and this story has a very special place in my heart <3
P.D.: these are old artworks (2023 I think?), as I am currently working on updated individual character sheets :3
> Silver "Chi"
My character (aka the sona I made when I was 13 lmao)!
Godly parent: Hades
Pronouns: she/ her
Age: 15 at the beggining of rp, 16 now
Fatal flaw: trustfullness
Weapon: styxian sword
Powers: shadow travel and necromancy (good control), geokinesis, osteokinesis, umbrakinesis... (medium control), ferrokinesis (little control), cryokinesis (no control, only fueled by strong negative emotions).
Personality: really shy at first. Stubborn, sarcastic and impulsive, but also loyal and caring for her friends.
When her mortal mother passed away, Hades took custody of her. Silver left to live in the underworld without saying anything, leaving her mortal little brother behind. In the years that Silver spent in the Underworld, she was being trained by Achilles' ghost and met her best friend Lea, a boy who was being tutored by Medea!
After so many years missing in the Underworld, no authorities were able to find her, so she was presumed dead. Her goal is to find her mortal brother, who is somewhere in NY, but the fates may have other plans...
> Leandro/ Kleanthes "Lea"
Godly parent: Hekate
Pronouns: he/him
Age: 15 at the beggining of rp, 16 now
Fatal flaw: hubris
Weapon: a magic crosier
Powers: very lots of magic. Not only control over the Mist, but real witchy levels of magic. Very skilled in the majority of it, he's considered one of the most powerfull descendants of Hekate.
Personality: friendly, funny and always supportive, but also highly competitive. Can be ruthless and proud sometimes, but that's not something you should worry about as long as you're on his side.
Hekate took Lea with her to the Underworld when the Fates announced a great future for him, even tho he was still a baby. Since then, Lea has been studying magic from different tutors. First from Pasiphaë, then from Medea. When he was 14 he traveled to Eea, as Circe's new apprentice. There he met the only person who was able to match his magic: Millicent, a daugther of Bacchus and his most hated academical rival. After graduating at Circe's Lea returned to New York, looking for Chi.
> Yu-Shin "Yu"
Godly parent: Nemesis
Pronouns: he/him
Age: 19 at the beggining of rp, 20 now
Fatal flaw: loyalty
Weapon: katana
Powers: Energy balance: when in disadvantage, his stats can boost to match his opponent. The boost increases if the source of his reason is vengance.
Personality: sincere, responsible, friendly and protective! Definitely the big brother anyone would want.
Moved out from Japan with his father to New York, where he lived a no-so-lethal childhood. Started to attend Camp Half-Blood at the age of 11 every summer and, eventually, moved there all year round. He's actually captain of cabin 16 and the sword teacher of younger demigods.
These three have a siblings dinamic that makes me so emotional, found family has and always be my favorite trope. THIS is my GOLDEN TRIO. Seriously, I can't spend a day without thinking about them 😭😭😭 Feel free to ask anything about them! If you ask vía question box in my profile I'll happily answer with some doodles :3
You'll probably see me posting more Immortal Legacy content as I'm adapting ALL 6 years of roleplay into a comic!!

Long ago, before the modern era. There once was a woman named Medusa. This woman held great beauty, great enough to be visited by the God Poseidon. The acts that were done to her under the temple of Athena granted her punishment. Banished from her once home, she was transformed into a snake like monster.
She died by the hands of a hero. A sad death for a woman like her. Taking pity, the Goddess Persephone took her soul, and on her own created another beauty. A small child she raised as her own. She named her Bella, a demon with red hair and eyes. A bit of her own blood was mixed when she created her which gave her slight Godly powers.
She lived without her memories, but with the stories of her former life. She grew to resent the Gods and Goddesses that lived above ground, preferring to live with Hades and the others down below.
But, like her mother, she carried a curious soul. So she would adventure the overworld as a human that carried the same name, Bella. She spent the next thousand years wondering the overworld away from the Gods eyes, experiencing the ways of humans.

Notes:
Hello! This is ooc Bella here! I would just like to explain Bella's personality and other stuff a little bit.
Bella, as a person, is very cold. Very blank with her everything. Although she can come off at first as scerene and gentle, she can do a total 180° in just a second. Although this is more directed at people she knows are related to overworld gods.
She is rather flirtacious, and often likes to tempt people. But if she knows your devoted to someone, she'll back down (unlike some people). She is very beautiful, its part of her lore, so if I put emphasis on her beauty pls roll with it :'D.
she doesnt spend all her time in forests though. Sometimes she pretends to be a child of Hades, even got him to claim her so she could have more proof. Shes only kind to the underworld kids as well.
More Information:
Is this character romancible?
Yes! But only with charcters that are 18 and above. Since shes old.
Is this a PJO only blog?
No. I am open to roleplay with anyone who assosiates with greek or roman mythology. So that includes Epic or any Greek/Roman God/dess account.

PJO CHALICE OF THE GODS FULL SPOILERS REVIEW
Non-spoiler review: Very wholesome. Arguably you could pick this up without prior knowledge of the past series and understand it perfectly fine. A good throwback bite sized adventure with our OG trio, literally adventuring on weekends style. Strictly within New York (and the surrounding suburbs but I know nothing of New York geography).
Such a familiar voice to ease back into and feel so at home with. Percy is Percy and will never stop being Percy.
The domestic demigod scenes were so wholesome and heartwarming, further proving Sally and Paul have created the ultimate safe space and Sally is the best mom to mom and why all demigods, gods, and other traumatised individuals just love her upon meeting her.
A LOT of wholesome interactions within the Jackson-Blofis household, between Annabeth, Percy and Grover, Annabeth and Sally, Annabeth and Paul, Paul and Percy, Percy and Grover. The family was family-ing.
Zeus continues to be supremely disgusting. In such an open way which is the closest true acknowledgement to the mythology we will get in a book series largely targeted to a younger demographic. Rick has come such a long way in how he frames his characters, acknowledging the world they live in, touching base with reality quite often in a way that feels like “yeah ofc Percy would see all this and realise this as a traumatised 17 year old living in New York City”.
At times, Percy’s rampant sarcasm throwing around all this commentary felt a touch on the nose and like “Percy Jackson is an eternal 17 year old but the world around has been adjusted to make sense for the current day and age and not the mid-2000s-2010s”. But this feeling didn’t occur very often.
But Percy looking at Ganymede as this traumatised kid who was plucked from his life to serve as Zeus’s eye candy for the rest of his immortal life. Him embracing Gary, the god of Old Age (who was giving me strong Cupid energy in terms of his metaphors and language use and general aggression), because immortality had never tempted him and being an older demigod who can actually look forward to the future is something to celebrate and cherish. Him feeling guilty about exploding on Elisson (when he was literally so overstimulated and experiencing some major sensory overload and the fear and disorientation that comes with that - like he was literally gonna die so go figure he’d let rip his powers in what was like… the most effective and helpful way possible) bc Elisson was clearly stressed out of his mind and two stressed people exploding on each other, with one being an exceptionally terrifyingly powerful demigod and one being a god who wants peace and quiet and for his river to not be polluted, is not in any way productive or healthy.
Dark!Percy stans tho, you ate. That scene was for y’all. Annabeth tho, just vibing acting as a therapist for Elisson.
But I just think the stories Rick has woven have matured in such a wonderful way, as reflected through his beloved main character, Percy. Percy has taken every turn possibly to make sure he doesn’t turn out like Luke, he doesn’t hit that point between jaded and hateful, that he doesn’t ever stop cherishing and valuing his mortality and the people around him. Him being such a rare example of a positive home life, arguably on both his mortal and godly side (see his slightly more stable relationship with Poseidon than most big three or indeed regular demigod children) allows him anchor himself and remind him exactly why he’s doing what he’s doing.
The fact that he can sway the sentiments of minor gods like Geras, or make those “small waves” with people like Barbara, or help out his friend Grover as well as reassure him of their friendship and bond without hesitation, shows time and again why Percy Jackson is such a beloved character and the blueprint of a good boyfriend. Him being so devoted to Annabeth, so delighted for his mom and Paul having a baby, him being upset about not being there in the early stages of Estelle growing up. I was fully expecting there to be a flashforward to her being born but alas not.

So You Want To Make a Percy Jackson RP Blog
Part One: Writing Your Character
Last update - March 8th, 2025
Visit the sywtmapjrpb hub
In this segment, we cover how to create a good roleplay OC. If you’re planning on creating a canon character blog, you can skip to the next section.
Table of Contents:
Personality/Vibes
Godly Parent
Backstory
Identity
Details (naming, powers, weapons, etc.)
Hi there. I’m EJ, proud creator of multiple RP blogs and a PJO Tumblr Community. Quick disclaimer to note that I’m speaking from experience, and my way may not work for you. That’s okay, so feel free to modify or skip steps as desired. With this out of the way, let’s get to work!
Personality/Vibes
Alas and alack. This is the first step, and the hardest.
The best way, in my opinion, to build a character, is to start from the vibes. What type of a character would you want to play or do you think would be fun?
If you’re stuck, consider the characters within the Riordanverse that you find most interesting, then consider making a character like that. A big fan of Luke? Maybe your character is trying to start a rebellion. In love with Percy? Your character could be the charismatic hero. Your heart lies with side characters? Not everyone has to be in the spotlight!
Don’t forget: a good character doesn’t have to be in all the action. They just need to be interesting. What stories do they have to tell? What adventures have they gone on, or want to go on? Will their character arc revolve around becoming more (for lack of a better word) exciting?
I’m always happy to answer DMs if you need more help with writing personality, because it’s the most personal step and the hardest to create a one-size fits all guide.
Godly Parent
Let’s be real, we’re in the world of Percy Jackson, where a godly parent is practically a personality trait. But how do you choose the right one? Here’s a few options.
By vibes
While I’m entirely aware I sound like a broken record, the best match for a godly parent is often the one whose domain and/or personality match best to the character’s personality and interests.
Here’s Wikipedia’s list of Greek deities.
Another good site/resource I use is the CHB Fanon Wiki! They’ve got lots of gods and minor gods and also power ideas for them!
—from @theorphicforest
By powers
Powers are very important in the world of Percy Jackson, and they may be very important to you in roleplaying!
Here’s the Riordan wiki rundown of powers by godly parent, but feel free to consult the previous Wikipedia article for more obscure deities.
I have zero idea. Can you pick for me?
Sure! Here’s a godly parent spinner based on the current cabins at CHB, weighted by canonical commonness!
Backstory
Questions to ask yourself
Who is their mortal parent? Did [parent] know they were having a child with a god? If not, how did they find out their child was a demigod?
Do they have a stepfamily? How do they feel about this?
What is their home life like?
When did they come to camp? Why then?
How many wars/battles have they witnessed and/or fought in? Why that amount?
Are they a summer camper, or year-round? Why?
Did their demigod traits impact their life before CHB? Why or why not?
Things to consider
Vibes inform backstory
Try to give your character a backstory that helped shape who they are today. That said:
Demigods go through a lot
Your character likely won’t be innocent forever. Most campers have survived something in some way, be it monsters before coming to camp or the variety of battles fought over the course of the series. They’ve probably killed at least one monster, and they may have seen dead bodies.
Their experiences are not the sum of their parts, of course, but just try to keep it in mind! A sheltered child will eventually have to confront the horrors of the demigod world.
Identity
Who is your character? Or, more specifically, who do they think they are? This question is probably gonna be pretty easy if you’ve already answered the other questions.
Nevertheless, we have a couple questions to get you started!
If your character met someone, how would they introduce themself?
Who and what matters to your character? Why?
What are their hobbies and interests?
How do they feel about themself?
What does their average day look like?
Details
Not to be biased, but this may be literally one of my favorite parts. I love the little details, and hopefully you will too!
Naming
Juliet of Romeo & Juliet fame once lamented, “What’s in a name?” Well, a lot, actually, especially in the world of Percy Jackson. Names have power, and your character’s will be one of the very first impressions people get. So let’s go!
The first thing to loop back to is how you want the name to feel. A name given to a dangerous killer will likely be different than the name you’d give to an everyman.
Don’t be afraid to be a little on the nose: Travis and Connor Stoll are Hermes kids, go figure. (Stoll = stole, and Hermes is associated with thieves) Katie Gardner? Demeter kid.
Another thing to consider is how the name sounds. This might be less important to you, and that’s okay, but it definitely helps if a name rolls off the tongue. Think about how the full name goes together.
Finally, don’t forget the cultural and familial context of a name. Most parents of demigods at camp will be from North America, and the mortal parent’s cultural background and naming preferences will heavily influence the name. There may be mythological roots (ex: Perseus, of course), but the majority of campers will have names that wouldn’t be out of place in the mortal world. That isn’t to say you can’t go with a name from history or mythos, but try to keep in mind what would make sense for your character.
Powers
Powers! One of the best parts of Percy Jackson is the iconic powers, so here are my best tips.
Firstly, don’t be afraid of giving your demigods some kind of a power. Nearly every demigod has some ability to control their parent’s domain. Rather than seeming overpowered to give your demigod something cool, it’s nearly the norm. Just make sure whatever you’ve picked makes sense. For example: giving a child of Athena the power to touch a ball of yarn and instantly turn it into a tapestry could be a bit of stretch.
Here’s a guide to demigod powers by godly parent from Riordan Wiki.
Weapons (+ Magical Items)
Weapons say a lot about your character. Take Annabeth and her dagger: it was given to her by Luke, who told her that only the smartest demigods would be able to use it. Riptide: given to Percy by his mentor in a moment of distress, and the only blade that has ever seemed to fit. It also ties him back to his roots as a demigod and to the ocean. So, by all means, PLEASE go wild with your weapons. They absolutely reflect the personality and connections of your character. Here are a couple questions to get you started:
Does your character use only one weapon, do they have multiple, or use whatever they can? Why?
(If singular) How did they acquire it?
(If singular) Does it mean anything to them?
(If singular) Does the weapon have a past?
What is their preferred weapon type?
What is their preferred way to fight? (ex: ranged attacks, melee)
Goodbye!
That brings us to the end of our first post on character creation. Stay tuned, and if you have any tips and tricks you’d like me to add, comment below! Have a great day.

What do you ship?
Anti. Percabeth.
Skip. It.
"Percy can't date Nico because of their ages."
Sorry, but does someone know that ship a character with another is not always about a minor? Look, we all know Percy is older than Nico. So, some people like the two together as matured adults that are still discovering themselves or already know what they want. People grow up and change. Some mature, others not. Life is like this. How many couples exist in real life with big differences of ages, but both are adults and can stay with any adult they want?
"Percy can't date Clarisse. She is a bully."
Again, just because someone ships a bully with another character, it doesn't mean that it's about bullying. If people don't like bullying or any kind of bad behavior, they should take another look at their favourite ships too. As i was saying... some people like perclarisse because both seem to be a very interesting ship with the two as matured adults. Like i said, anyone can change, even the brute ones. Take for example: Jade and Beck from Victorious or Saddie from Icarly. If you are the person that judges others for liking Perclarisse and likes these last couples that i mentioned, also including the biggest ship from PJO, i would suggest you to rethink about your options too.
"Percy can't date any god/goddess."
Again. As long as Percy is a matured adult, he could be in a relationship with anyone he wants...because if you judge others for liking a relationship with a god/goddess, you would hate Poseidon and Sally since he has many years than her or you also wouldn't like any vampire movie or maybe hate even Solangelo...since Nico would be much older than Will, right? Please, correct me if i'm wrong.
"But, Percy doesn't like things related to the gods."
And? If he dates a god/goddess, it won't make him any less human. Percy has his family and Rachel to remind him of his human part. He doesn't need a god/goddess for this. Both could balance each other. Percy would learn more about the gods and he would also teach his partner about the human world, making the god/goddess feel a connection/compassion to the mortals.
"Percy can't date Rachel because she is an oracle."
I don't know much about oracles. Is there something prohibiting them from being together? To give a kiss? To have dates together? To walk through the camp? To watch the sunset or the starts together? To hold hands? To sit at the same table together? To talk with each other? To see one another?
I saw someone commenting about Rachel not being able to have that thing with Percy. I only think: And? Can't they adopt? Can't they treat the young campers as if they were their children? Wouldn't the happiness of their love be enough? Wouldn't the partner be enough already? Wouldn't Elle be enough who Percy had to take care of? Isn't there a way to break this curse or oracle thing? Can't they wait until Rachel is completely normal again without the oracle thing?
"Percy can't date Rachel because she's a human."
Annabeth, is that you? Please, guys. Saying that Rachel is only a human is no excuse at all. In fact, i think it could have a positive effect on Percy since he likes to be normal. What better way to feel normal than stay with someone that is NORMAL? These two could balance each other, you know? Like with the god thing, Perachel could teach each other about their sides. Rachel could show Percy that he doesn't need to be a hero all the time, you know? The best example of this ship is Giselle and Robert. A princess, that came from a fairytale, who lived many adventures and the normal guy who doesn't really believe in fairytales and has a boring life in the real world. He learns to have more fun and she learns how to live in the real world. Oh, i also would like to remind that Annabeth is kinda also a human? Without any power, any girl in real life can be Annabeth. In our world, we have beautiful and pretty smart girls, alright?
"But, Annabeth sees the monsters and is a fighter."
Rachel also can see the monsters, if i'm not mistaken. Rachel is not a fighter because she isn't a demigod. She wasn't trained her whole life like Annabeth was. Anyone can be Annabeth, but no one can have the visions that Rachel has. Rachel may not know how to fight like Annabeth, but she fights with what she has. Hero is not the person who is strong, but someone that has good morals and does everything thinking about others first. Rachel may not be a fighter, intelligent or have powers like others, but she has her strong spirit. Just because Rachel is not a demigod, it doesn't make her a loser. Rachel is also a heroine, but on her own way. She threw a hairbrush at Kronos, right? I guess only few humans (even demigods) have the same courage that Rachel has. 🤔😅
I wrote my opinions about what other people think when it's something related to Percy and his ships. I just don't like when someone says these kind of things or insinuate them when the same person also ships something bad or worse.

One Piece characters as PJO-style demigods
Qualifiers: no PJO storyline. This is half from a reincarnation-type concept I'm playing with but I won't go into details for that; the other half is being figured out as I write this.
Jimbe - merman. Why mess with a classic? He's a graduate of Camp Fishblood, maybe a legacy of the royal family (son/grandson of Triton or something) somewhere along the line.
Brook - clear-sighted mortal (legacy of Apollo?), favored by Aurora since he greeted every sunrise with music. got her permission and support to pull an Orpheus and play with his old band one last time. unfortunately, while Aurora's blessing let him survive walking through Hades, it didn't prevent him from withering (see her husband, Eos). yo-ho-ho. walking talking afro skeleton. Mist has to pull double-time hiding all that from mortals.
(alternative - he died with his old band but successfully Orpheus'd himself out to go find the Laboon equivalent. unfortunately, he had to return alone.)
Franky - one of two: (1) son of Hespaestus. (2) cyborg cyclops. oh maybe both!! Hephaestus had a kiddo with one of his cyclops workers and we were all graced with this blue haired one-eyed insane fireproof disability mechanic
Robin - Athena, naturally. Researcher, strategist, dedicates her life to knowledge. Mortal parent is a professor. Unfortunately, in one of those twists of irony--she can't weave/create/build to save her life.
Chopper - no listen he's literally still a deer. Was being hunted by Artemis but when she got hurt (as hunters sometimes do) he turned around and brought her healing herbs and both Artemis and Apollo blessed him and turned him into a satyr, sorta. Boom: walking talking doctor deer son.
Nami - clear-sighted mortal. made fast friends with local water nymphs as a kid. main character energy so strong they had to let her into camp.
Sanji - Legacy of Eros/Aphrodite on his mom's side. Judge steps into the Roman Emperors' shoes here, so Sanji gets the same kinda trauma Meg McCaffrey does, plus abusive siblings for flavor. Zeff is a former combat vet and cannot see through the Mist but can spot a traumatized kiddo in need from 50 yards out
(alternative - Zeff's a fucking redeemed Laistrygonian, a la Tyson but with 2 eyes. Tried the cannibalism thing. 0/10 would not recommend. Spotted a traumatized kiddo and went "is anyone gonna adopt that?" and didn't wait for an answer. Restaurant serves demigods and monsters both with a standard 'no fights inside' rule.)
Usopp - satyr. he met Chopper first, and later led Sanji and Nami to camp.
Zoro - Mars. Yes he's the only Roman. This poor man got so lost after dying that he ended up in the neighboring pantheon. In the story concept, he bests everyone in New Rome and then goes on "a little walk" to find the rest of the crew and ends up having to cross the entire country following the rising sun because of course that's where Luffy would be
Luffy - I know I said I wouldn't get into details but Luffy's always so goddamn hard to fit into other canons so he ended up central to the storyline. Luffy's reincarnation is as a sun-god, but without any believers he's asleep. As the crew comes together he wakes up more and more, and when they're all standing in one place, he finally wakes up entirely.
on a metaphysical level, he grabs their hand and yanks them to join him in the next adventure - returning to the OP world (years into the future), apotheosized into a new pantheon:
Luffy - sun/freedom/victory; Zoro - night sky/masculinity/ambition; Nami - day sky/femininity/skill; Usopp - plants/artists (especially storytellers)/bravery; Chopper - animals/childhood/medicine; Robin - life/knowledge-keepers/history; Franky - fire/builders/progress; Brook - death/musicians/love; Jimbe - water/guardians/community.
#op x pjo#still just thoughts thrown at a wall to see what sticks#but i forgot 90% of what i'd planned a few months ago so i'm putting it down now

Iris Kelly Doesn't Date - Book Review
In the famous words of Ruby Sutherland, "Read queer all year."
I am gay. So is this book. We are a match made in heaven.
Iris Kelly Doesn't Date has two main lovers, obviously, and then a circus of side characters who aren't really relevant to the romance at all. And that's fine. It's like when you're a little kid in church and you have a crush on the girl in choir. There's a whole bunch of people singing, but to you, it's only you and her. I swear I'm not speaking from experience (but I will save my religious trauma for another day).
Last year, I went into my first day at a new job. They took me into a room to do fingerprinting because this was an office that required security clearance. I was already riddled with anxiety but ya girl was pushing through. I'd made it all the way to 11 AM. I was on a damn roll. And then, the fingerprinting scanner wouldn't accept my fingerprints.
I kept trying the three fingers that wouldn't take over and over again. I began to think, what if I'm stuck here forever? What if I won't be able to keep this job? What if I died and I'm in hell and this is literally hell? Next thing I know, my heart is racing. My vision is getting blurry. I'm sweating like a possum in headlights. I puke into the nearest trash can, in front of my new boss.
Suffice to say, this was the worst panic attack I'd ever experienced. So when Stevie practically puked all over Iris, I was like, damn, she's so me.
I love the GAD rep in this book. Anxious girlies unite! And what's crazy about that first big panic attack that we see Stevie go through, is that it feels so real. I didn't notice we were even heading in that direction until it happened. That's exactly what anxiety is like for me. I don't notice my frantic thoughts or my racing heart until my body warms and I feel the vomit coming up my throat. The author has such a strong grasp on what it's like to have a panic attack that I almost had to wonder if she got inspiration from me (she didn't).
Let's talk about the spice. And no, I don't mean nutmeg. Iris Kelly Doesn't Date is sexy. Like blushing, covering my agape mouth, looking away from the screen sexy. I had to shield my screen from my cats for fear that their baby eyes would be exposed to such nasty smut, I mean that in the best way possible. I don't really read books for the smut though. It's fun and all, but I'm here for the romance damn it. I want to see this couple defy all odds to be together!
Ashley Herring Blake, I love you and your writing, but this book is too long, there are too many things happening, and there are too many characters. I get it, the fans want to see everyone from the previous books return. But I had a difficult time remembering who was who outside of the famed Delilah, Claire, Astrid, and Jordan. Everyone else was a blip to me. And between the play, the fake dating, the sex/romance lessons, the anxiety, the book writing, the New York, the Malibu trip and Adri stuff, there were just too many plots, none of which were fleshed out enough. Neither Stevie nor Iris really have the time to think and feel and take control over their stories because so much stuff is just happening to them. I like that in a YA adventure, but not so much in an adult romance. It was a lot to follow for me. I think if the author had cut some of these side plots down and fleshed out the others, it would've been a 5 star read for me. It's still 4 stars though!
Folks, this concludes my Goodreads reading challenge. I cannot believe I made it all the way to 52 books this year. At some points during 2023, I really didn't think I would make it all the way. But here we are, 52 whole books. I'm not done yet, though! I want to finish the PJO series before the year is up and maybe get through Chalice of the Gods. I have a couple library books available now too but had to delay those so I could finish this one. Keep an eye out for my best books of 2023 list soon!

Hello dear mutual LB lanuel Bals third of its name, i do not know a SINGLE thing abt d20 i only rbed because a mutual drew that and i thus extend the official invite to feel free to info dump to me abt it (PLEASE !!! only if u want ofc peeposhy) and also where should i start if i were to try to get into it (asking for me)
thank u and have a great ballsy day <33 uwu
Oh em gee it’s Moo Peng my beloved tumblr dot com mutual haiii ^w^ And thank you SO much for giving me an opportunity to talk about this >:D This might get long tho
D20, aka Dimension 20, is a RPG (mostly D&D) show that you can watch on Dropout (smaller American streaming service, but it has really good content <3), though some seasons are on Youtube!
There are 21 seasons in total so far, but each one is its own campaign (well, except for the 3-4 sequel seasons), which means you can absolutely jump right into a later season and still get what’s going on :] Also the seasons range from 20 episodes to 4, so you don’t always need to find the emotional resolve to sit through 20 2-hours long episodes lol
The fanart you reblogged is of Ayda, a character from Fantasy High, which is basically the poster child of D20 – it was the first season, and it later got two sequel seasons, Sophomore Year (which is the exact one Ayda is from) and Junior Year, the most recent season, as well as two spin-off seasons with locations/characters from its world (Pirates of Leviathan and The Seven (it’s kinda funny actually because I know you’re a PJO fan and, well, I often see posts about it in that season’s tag because of the name X))) Mostly it’s about a bunch of teenagers in a fantasy 80s-esque high school trying to solve mysteries and going on adventures!
Fantasy High is not my personal favorite, however – the medal of honor goes to A Court of Fey and Flowers and Mentopolis, respectively the "fey regency/romance" season and the "Inside Out but as a film noir" season <3 But there’s plenty I love!! There’s a space opera season, a "Game of Thrones but with food" season, a heist season, a furry murder mystery season, a fairytale horror season… the list goes on! It even featured a bunch of drag queens on a season :D
There’s only four seasons available on Youtube, unfortunately, but they’re all really good so here they are:
Fantasy High
I’ve mentioned it before, so I won’t elaborate, but I’ll add that it’s 17 episodes long!
Fantasy High: Sophomore Year
Also mentioned before, but I’ll add that this season was recorded live on Twitch so while it’s a lot of people’s favorite, it has occasional problems (especially audio-wise). 20 episodes long
Escape from the Bloodkeep
Lord of the Rings parody – the villain lords find themselves scrambling when not-Sauron suddenly dies and they’re forced to work together to bring him back :3c 6 episodes long, features Matt Mercer of Critical Role fame
The Unsleeping City
Urban fantasy, turns out there’s a whole magical side of New York that regular people can’t see, and a group of unlikely heroes band together to face the bad parts of that magical side >:3c 17 episodes long, there’s also a second season of it but it isn’t out on Youtube unfortunately :(
The next season, Never Stop Blowing Up, is coming out in like a week and a half, based on the trailer, it’s going to be a Jumanji-like 80s action movies parody and I am!! Very excited!! :D
#moo my beloved comment ça m’a fait trop plaisir de voir ça dans mon inbox <3#also si ça t’intéresse… de temps en temps j’organise des watch parties des saisons pas sur Youtube dans un serveur Discord privé…#je pourrais t’inviter… just saying….. 😳#lb originals

guess who
back with the pjo x prsk
i only managed to figure out An and Haruka + beginnings of Tsukasa and Ena, so uhhh
STALLING TIME, NO VBS TODAY
Prima Vista (1/2)
I was thinking which ones I should start with to be fair. I have powers for all of Prima, but I didn't knoe whether to split them for camps, or do mixed pairs or whether to start with Hayato/Kaii or Ranmaru/Ikuo, but I decided for Hayato and Kaii in the end, since you've seen them before in the pjo au posts
Hayato
He was the last one to be admitted to the camp, out of everyone (including the normal characters), but he's known there was "something wrong" with him already. Only after learning about demigods, he realized all those things he's seen over the years are simply because of his godparent, which was obvious to him that it was Apollo. He has no control over his powers and that gives him trouble most of the time.
His side power is that art thing - what's that mean is basically that he can pick up any art form and have it easy. Of course he won't be perfect in anything, unless he practices, but he will have an easier time learning. If you had read the Prima stories earlier, you know that Hayato knows how to play multiple instruments, violin being his most beloved.
His main power is connected to his dreams and that is the ability to see into the future in dreams. Now, it's actually kind of natural for demigods to sometimes have visions inside dreams, but the issue with Hayato is that he sees them every night and they show how the next day will play out. It won't show anything directly, instead it will look like a scene from an anime or a game (personally imagining it like Genshin gameplay and cutscenes). Nothing is fully clear in those dreams - he can't see how he looks like, because a mirror never appears. The people inside the dream only share some features with the real people in his life. The actions are very vivid and at times blurry or simply too fast. It's never clear, so Hayato has to decipher what could possibly happen, but since fate is unpredictable, his judgments end up being partially or completely wrong.
He avoids everything to do with the future-seeing powers - tries not to get claimed by Apollo, wants to escape the fate that he sees and at times he tries going days without sleeping (which actually ends up being worse, because then he sees prophetic hallucinations instead of dreams. He will still not sleep.)
(i swear he is so fun to draw, his hair is so fucking satisfying to draw, so simple yet fun)
Oh yeah. He has never told anyone he knows his godparent. Toya is blissfully unaware that suddenly his new classmate is also his half-brother.
Hayato also hid himself away from the camp when he saw a claim sign in his dream, fearing it would be him. It was Kaii's Neptunus claim and Kaii was pretty bummed out that Hayato was nowhere to be seen at that time. Once Hayato heard though, he was very relieved (that it wasn't him) and tried to make it up to him.
Speaking of Kaii
I don't know which Poseidon/Neptunus quirks I vould give him to not make him too OP. As one of the big three, he probably should have something more, but on the other hand - manipulating the water tension is already OP in itself. It all actually comes down to how he uses it and how creative he gets to be with the ideas. At first he finds this unnecessary, since he wasn't able to control it freely, but once he actually started training, he started thinking differently. Here are a few ideas I have for how he could be using his powers:
The most useful one is definitely the ones relating to mobility. He definitely had a LOT of troubles trying to walk on water, because it was as slippery as ice, due to the surface not having traction. In the end he came up with the idea to slide/skate on it like ice and yep, that sure fixed it.
The "walking on rain" idea came from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, specifically Steel Ball Run. The Stand Catch The Rainbow had the stand user standing on raindrops. I am pretty confident that with some natural water bending and Kaii's tension manipulation, he could freely run on raindrops, but it would most likely be difficult and require TONS of training.
If we're talking about other inspirations for the powers, I like to think that water not breaking tension on him is so funny... He's like a duck if he wants to stay dry... 🦆
As for the not letting enemies outside of the depths, it was inspired by that one twitter comment being like "What if the water just doesn't let you out one day"
I mean, fuck, what IF it doesn't let you out
It would definitely be brutal coming from Kaii, since he can just not let the water break tension around him like if he was in a bubble, but... Well, he is capable of drowning something in self defense. He's pretty desensitized to most physical things and if it's against a monster, he would do it no questions asked. If it was against another (enemy) demigod and he'd let them stay down there for a bit too long... Yeah, he'd have to process this with himself. You can expect him using the water trap very sparringly, last resort even.
If you have any MORE ideas for how he can use these powers... You can share ofc 👀
(bringing this gem back)
Also, one more relating to Ichika and Kaii - in the Prima canon I did make them cousins. Kaii's mom is one of Ichika's parents older sister. I have no clue which one, so... If someone claims a godparent for her, they would still work out as cousins.
I guess even if they ended up not being related in the end, their relationship would still stay as cousins, just... different blood.
As an additional fun fact, in my Prima add-in, Ichika and Kaii entered the camp together. Both of them found it a bit crazy that the other cousin also had the same issues with dyslexia and the "demigod specific" type of neurodivergency and it was incredibly awkward. They have each other's backs tho.
As a bonus: The Big Three of each camp
Getting sneak peaks for others early woa woa woa
