What part of the Fallout setting and themes would you want to focus on if you got to decide on the direction of a new game?
Observation that's been boiling in the back of my head since forever is that out of all the games in a series where the tagline is that War Never Changes, New Vegas is about war to an extent that the other games never really approach. Really the only example of a traditional ground war between peer states or something akin, with articulated battle lines, points of contention, supply chain issues and the like. Fallouts 1 and 2 get at least a partial pass because they're set before humanity's redeveloped the capacity for state on state violence; 3 and 4 are trying to be about Wars but kind of flail their arms on that front, 4 in particular. Regardless I want more of New Vegas's energy on this front.

Everytime I think about JinMalos for too long I want to die they make me so sad.
I saw someone on Twitter say that Malos could have won if he went to Elysium right after everyone ended up in Morytha, he didn’t have to look for Jin. But he didn’t go on ahead because he promised they’d go together

Playing the demo for Unicorn Overlord & as I figured, Vanillaware still don’t miss! Yes I’m one of the 15 people who enjoyed Dragon’s Crown. Despite enjoying Fire Emblem & its ilk, my personal favorite type of tactical strategy RPGs are the ones where the units are little battalions of individual characters with customizable formations rather than the more ubiquitous style solo/duo units you get with Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics.
The very good indie game Symphony of War is the only similar tactical RPG that I’ve played recently though there might be others that just never passed my radar. As such, getting a beautifully executed tactics game from one of my favorite developers of all time is an absolute treat & I’m triply excited thanks to the fantastic & hefty demo.
Sadly I still need to finish the last 1/3rd of 13 Sentinels. 13 Sentinels is brilliant in every way but I’ve left it incomplete in my backlog for what might be a year & change now & I’m dreading that I might have to start over with a new game file since I might have absolutely lost my bearings in regards to both the story & gameplay by this point.
My only real gripe with Unicorn Overlord so far is that I wish more devs would pick a setting outside of Western/European High Fantasy for these tactical RPGs & RPGs in general to be completely honest. It’s one of the reasons I appreciate Advance Wars more than Fire Emblem despite growing up playing both. Just once I’d love to see a tactical strategy RPG game like this set in a cyberpunk dystopia or a retrofuture superhero setting or a prehistoric stone age fantasy world or within the afterlife cosmology of Dante’s Divine Comedy. Anything other than swords, knights, lords, castles etc. Vanillaware in particular would kill it with their evocative work in Muramasa & 13 Sentinels.

This is (well, the updated version of) an MMD render I put together last year to mark the anniversary of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Since that day has now come around again this year, I thought it might make sense to reupload the updated version, in order to commemmorate today!~
From left to right looking at the scene, we have Aline, Sapphire, and Calanthe all standing together, who are my self-inserts for Torna ~ The Golden Country, the main game of XC2, and.. technically Xenosaga but she does also appear in XC2 so therefore she still counts, respectively. Each one is slightly different, but they are all still me.
I was pretty happy with the improvements I was able to make to this piece, both in terms of the models themselves (since Sapphire and Calanthe had different designs at that point) and the overall lighting (though the lens flare effect was not very easy to implement). So, I hope it's alright to post it again!
Happy fifth anniversary, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 ^-^

💥 / for jiaoqiu and chenhua! ❤️
Send 💥 for a headcanon I’ve always wanted to talk about. @memovia
Jiaoqiu's childhood home is a small village tucked away in the mountains bordering Rainsoar Lake, and as a young boy, he would often venture down towards the lake shore to not only forage for wild plants, fungi, and herbs, but to also take a swim in its cool waters during hotter days. Afterwards, he'd shake out the water from his hair and fur, slip on the herb basket filled to the brim with the ingredients he harvested, and make his way through the forest path back towards his village, where he would then set aside some of the spoils so they could be sold during the next market day. The rest would be for his family's use.
The Third Abundance War was... a very tense time for Chenhua, to say the least. The Artisanship Commission had practically worked overtime to meet the demands of the ongoing conflict, with weapons and starskiffs being manufactured and sent out far more frequently than ever before in her career. It was the closest that the threat of the Abominations of Abundance had been to her home, and though the Alliance was ultimately victorious at the end, it had still cost the lives of so many. Chenhua had not lost anyone close to her during the war, but her heart still felt heavy for a time in the aftermath of it all, and while she's thankful that the Luofu has been living in relative peace and safety for many centuries due to Jing Yuan's leadership, sometimes she wishes that they didn't have to fight at all. She knows that can't happen until the abominations are eradicated, however --something she's fully aware will more than likely not happen in her lifetime.
