If you support AI generated content, especially if you post it (because you didn't write it or draw it if AI generated it for you) then my content is not for you.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but ai character chat bots are still ai art
Chat bots are literally just ai fanfiction.
And as a fanfiction writer, ai bots make me uneasy and uncomfortable.
We really don’t know how close we are to fanfiction and commissions dying.
I would not be surprised if in a couple years lots of artists see a drop in commissioned pieces because it’s easier for people to just have midjourney make them art of the their ships.
I can absolutely see fanfiction writers getting less requests and views and engagement cause it’s ten times easier to just ask an ai bot to rp with you - regardless of whether the ai is in character or not. Because it’s already happening.
Y’all, it’s still AI ART. And it’s going to start hurting your favorite fanfiction writers and fanart creators very soon.
Please consider how using Ai chat bots effects writers on ALL levels. Just like AI threatens the craft of paid screenwriters, it threatens the craft of unpaid fanfiction writers as well.
How close are we as fandom from having AI generated fics on aO3 or ai fanart on deviantart?
Y’all As a fanfiction writer I am begging you to reconsider how AI bots and using them directly effects the writers and artists you follow and support daily not just on a corporate level but a fandom level too
You can support writers against AI at a corporate level, please try and extend the same kindness to writers of fandom as well.
Convenience over human expression and effort is the downfall of art

In light of the AI-generated art and writing, as a college kid doing an AI degree, let me present my worthless opinion.
Artificial intelligence is a very cool and very complex field of study, and I really enjoy learning about it.
But you know what else I love? Reading fanfiction. Leaving kudos. Leaving comments and tumblr asks for authors and seeing if they replied.
I have so much love and respect towards creators. The artists, the writers, the designers... What makes you all special is that underlying humanity in your work. The raw emotions. The passion that reflects in everything you do. AI can not imitate that.
In a society where tech based careers are the "smart choice to make," you guys are super brave and talented, and I love you all so much.

Trans Turtle Tot
I saw this really cute headcanon of Rise Leo being his universes Venus but after he came out he changed his name to Leonardo. I decided to have an ai write a cute little coming out story for him.
Tumblr media
...I was not disappointed.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
I have just had to archive lock all of my fanficion.
In light of bot comments and AI scraping on AO3, I have archive locked all of my fics. It's something that I have been incredibly hesitant to do, because I want my fanfiction to be accessible and enjoyed by as many people as possible.
Especially because this account is new and I know that the wait list to get an AO3 account is kind of long, and a lot of my fanfics are currently only posted on AO3 and can't be read anywhere else. If you are someone who doesn't have an account and you're looking for certain fics of mine that haven't been posted here yet - I do sincerely apologize.
But I have gotten comments like this before and I had no clue they were bots. I am incredibly upset at the idea that bots have been scraping my fics, and there could be people out there reading AI generated fics with pieces of my fics spit out back into them.
If you want to read fanfiction, come to the source. Don't ask a fucking robot to spit out heartless, meaningless garbage for you because you're too impatient to wait for an author to work hard on a real update.
If you want more fanfiction - fucking support authors. Send real messages telling authors what you liked, reblog our fucking fics, come back continually and give us genuine support. A robot is never going to give you the kind of quality fanfiction that real people can.
Support fanfic authors instead of supporting an environment where it's beneficial to have fanfic scraping robots.

I’ve always been a fan of AO3 and the idea of OTW as a whole. I mean, how could you not, seeing as these guys are actively trying to support and preserve fandom culture? Having a place where all fanworks are welcomed indiscriminately and neatly archived sounded like a dream come true. It was a dream come true.
Except, well, you know…
AO3 has a lot of problems, and while I am extremely thankful for its existence and for the possibility to safely host my fanworks somewhere, I am not going to delude myself into thinking the OTW is a perfect organization. They have a big racism problem that they still haven’t addressed, years after. And now, on top of everything, the AI generated works bullshit. A lot of great points have been made regarding the matter and while I’m not going to go over them yet again (I invite you to scroll through the eight hundred something comments left on the original announcement), I can’t help point out the hypocrisy behind the OTW’s stance: they are against data scraping but have no problem hosting the results of said data scraping.
I think this is the proverbial slap in the face for a lot of fans that have been defending OTW and AO3 no matter what — they’re run by people, and people are shitty. While I get that the OTW ass kissing made sense in the anti/proship debate, I’ve seen a lot of people that take the archive for granted and are extremely uncritical about it. Yes, it is not run by a megacorp that wants to harvest our data and make a profit out of it, but it is still an organization, and a pretty big one at that. Organizations are run by people with agendas, and that’s a fact.
Perhaps there is a way out of this — as I said, OTW is not a megacorp that deals in user data and ads to generate revenue. Things can change through voting. Donating to OTW doesn’t only ensure that the archive stays running, but also that your voice as an user gets heard, and I encourage everyone to make your voices heard. Will anything change substantially? It’s hard to say. It’s been three years since their promises to address the racism in the community, but nothing has really changed. Perhaps the decision regarding the hosting of AI-generated works will have a similar fate, and it will be something that people will learn to live with. Should we learn to live with things like these? Absolutely not, but perhaps this is the price that has to be paid in order to have a place of our own. It’s never going to be a perfect place and we shouldn’t pretend it ever was. I genuinely wish there were alternatives to AO3. Not like FFN or wattpad, but alternatives made in the same spirit: by fans for fans, with maximum (although not unlimited) inclusivity, where any fanwork made out of love and good faith could find a place.
As for the time being, I am unsure what my future on AO3 is going to look like. I don’t necessarily want to archive-lock my fanworks, although that might be the best course of action. I am also wary about posting any new works on the archive, at least until we get a clear, not half-assed announcement regarding OTW’s stance on AI-generated works.

So out of curiosity I asked ChatGPT to write some fanfiction with Fenris and Anders from DA2. The result is below the cut.
It is passable fanfiction. A little bit of an abrupt turn from homoerotic gen fic to NSFW, but I've certainly read worse and I've probably written worse.
Which makes me wonder, are people using ChatGPT to produce fanfic and publishing on AO3? Almost certainly. How will we know what is AI produced and what is human produced? Does it matter? Obviously AI fic can be churned out a lot quicker than human fic, so are we going to get inundated with it? Again, does it matter?
Also, how is it producing such passable fanfic? Is it plagiarising people's published work? Does it matter since fanfiction is based on other people's work anyway, and is often quite formulaic in structure?
What if people just use ChatGPT to produce a first draft and then modify it? Does that make any difference?
PROMPT: Please write fanfiction of Fenris and Anders from Dragon Age 2.
Fenris stalked the streets of Kirkwall, his eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of danger. He knew he should be heading back to his mansion, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. As he turned a corner, he saw a figure in the distance. It was Anders.
"What are you doing here?" Fenris growled, his hand hovering near his sword.
Anders raised his hands in surrender. "Relax, Fenris. I'm not here to fight you."
Fenris eyed him suspiciously. "Then why are you here?"
Anders took a deep breath. "I need your help. I've gotten myself into a bit of a mess."
Fenris rolled his eyes. "Typical. What is it this time?"
Anders looked down, ashamed. "I've been working on a potion to help mages control their magic. But I think I messed up. I need someone to watch me to make sure I don't hurt anyone."
Fenris hesitated. He didn't trust Anders, but he knew what it was like to be haunted by his past. "Fine. But if you try anything, I won't hesitate to take you down."
Anders nodded, grateful for the chance. They made their way to Anders' clinic, where he showed Fenris the potion. Fenris watched him carefully as he drank it, waiting for any sign of trouble. But as time passed, he realized that Anders was telling the truth. The potion was working.
As they left the clinic, Anders turned to Fenris. "Thank you. I couldn't have done it without you."
Fenris grunted in response, but he couldn't deny the sense of pride he felt. Maybe Anders wasn't so bad after all. As they walked, Fenris found himself drawn to Anders' energy. He had always been attracted to powerful mages, and there was something about the way Anders carried himself that made him feel alive.
They ended up at Anders' bed, and before Fenris knew it, they were kissing. It was intense and passionate, and Fenris felt a spark that he had never felt before. As they pulled away, Fenris looked at Anders with new eyes. Maybe there was more to this man than he had realized.
Anders smiled at him, his eyes full of mischief. "You know, this could be the start of a beautiful partnership."
Fenris rolled his eyes, but he couldn't deny the truth in Anders' words. Maybe they could work together, in more ways than one.

I've had a few questions recently about whether I'm alright with my fics being used to train AI / RP AIs - I'd like to say that from my perspective, I'd really prefer people check with me before scraping my work, even if it's for a private bot!
More context below the cut, just to give a bit of my perspective:
As a programmer and developer in the professional world; I have quite a bit of insight into the back end. It may seem like it's harmless, but there are real-world consequences for writers regarding our narrative voice if you train an AI (even one you keep private / don't put up for public access). The new algorithm training and excitement around AI is something I'm very pro and keen for, but consent to what algorithms my work is being used in is very important to me
For a small bit more context: if you train an AI with my works, many of these websites can take phrases I've coined / things I've narratively decided to work with, decontextualise it or edit it, and then monetise it - which is an absolute clusterfuck minefield!
If you're training any AIs on our works more broadly - I think a lot of us will have reservations. I'm definitely alright with it in certain situations, and very against it in others :) reach out to me and I can help!
Thanks friends :D

loving fanfiction about percabeth
It had been another long day of adventuring and battling monsters, and all Percy Jackson wanted to do was collapse into bed and sleep for a week. But first, he had to check on his girlfriend, Annabeth Chase.
He found her in the Athena cabin, surrounded by her fellow cabin mates, but she broke away as soon as she saw him.
"Hey, Seaweed Brain," she said, reaching up to tangle her fingers in his hair. "Rough day?"
Percy nodded, leaning down to kiss her. "Yeah, but it's worth it if I get to see you at the end of it." Annabeth smiled up at him.
"I love you, Percy Jackson."
"I love you too, Wise Girl."
