It was a Teen Wolf Sterek fic, an au with magic. Claudia either adopted stiles or was his bio mom and pretended to adopt him, but stiles had a familiar who constantly turned into dead grotesque bodies and the only person who accepted them fully (and laughed at the familiar being gruesome) was laura. laura dies somehow and derek comes in. I think laura and stiles were partners for the magic things law enforcement? I remember that they thought stiles might have killed laura/tried to pin it on him, but after lauras death derek takes over as stiles' partner. I remember one scene with lydia and maybe heather and stiles with candles? I'm pretty sure both lyds and stiles lived with claudia. by the end of the fic the familiar sacrifices itself to save stiles and his friends from the argents, and I'm pretty sure there's a scene where ally defects from her aunt/grandpa. First one - Stiles gets a stressful job in IT (poss in San Fran?) and starts hallucinating rich Derek drinking posh coffee in NYC. After several hallucinations of Derek being all "you really need a new job," it turns out that Derek is real, is an alpha, and Stiles is fated to be his emissary. The Sun to Rise by andavs | 7.5K Stiles has an imaginary friend. He's kind of a dick.

Second one - (which may have been deleted from AO3) is a canon divergent S1 AU. It hits the beats of S1 but instead Scott doesn't hesitate when Derek offers him the chance to kill Peter and possibly reverse the bite. Scott kills Peter and is human again. The main thing I remember is after the fact, Stiles visits Derek at the burned down Hale house and says something like "it's like none of it really happened." And Derek levels him with a sour wolf look and says "it happened." Timshel by jsea | 12.5K Derek lets Scott kill Peter for the cure at the end of S1. This is the story of how that choice changes everyone's fate. "Sir, you should know..." Derek starts to say, then snaps his mouth closed when the Sheriff takes one hand off the steering wheel, and holds it up in a halting gesture. "You're not a bad kid, Derek." "I'm a werewolf," Derek says, before he can think about it. For the first time in his life the word feels dirty, like something to be ashamed of. It makes him feel like a little kid again, using a curse word without understanding what it means.

I can't remember if it was a steter or sterek fic. It's a short humourous fic where Stiles has an injury but he was adamant that bandaids could fix it and it was at least a six inch long-ass gash or something. If this sounds familiar to anyone? Thanks!

heathers 2018 thoughts after a Heathers movie rewatch.

The Heathers were both privileged and were also disadvantaged by their lack of freedom aka being women who had to put up with abuse by each other/ the guys to keep their popularity.

So actually making them minorities for the 2018 reboot wasn't as far from the original Heathers format as people think. Both are privileged due to class, but disadvantaged due to being minorities.

Their also not the villians, relatible every day girl Veronica sawyer was actually the villian. People just reconstructed Veronica as the herowine because of her not like other girls vibe. The musical didn't help with this but I do like how the 2018 version made it clear Veronica and JD are the villians.

Yes, the whole cast is mean because teenagers are mean but Veronica and JD are the only ones who feel justified in takeing others lives. They aren't justified and that's the point!

The 2018 reboot captured several of the 1980s Heather's themes such as alienation, toxic complicated friendships, adults not listening, fear driving teens to cruelty, and people useing suicide for fame/ stroking their own egos. They didn't always hit the mark with every issue they covered but to pretend they did nothing well. Just shows a lack of anaysis skills.

Also, I love the decostruction of JD who was a played with archetype of the 1980's bad boy steriotype by being the villian of the story. By pointing out JD is in fact a Heather. A wannabe hungry for fame and attention who pretends to be acting for some greater social cause. Who is driven to seek attention by his own personal pain.

I'll take that JD over the wobbied musical version who is killing for love. (rolls eyes).

Ahh bless you nonny. Some of these are still just outlines but a few have chapters posted.

Starting with OUTLINES

The Bachelor Au: This is still one of my favorite ideas lol, born of my love of the insanity that is the bachelor franchise and the poorly concealed producer plants who are clearly just there for the drama. You can't tell me Billy wouldn't make a perfect Chad. The gist is Steve is the first Bisexual bachelor contestant. An icon, An American sweetheart looking for love. Robin and The Party are crew members and all the stranger things teens are contestants (Nancy, Chrissy, Eddie, Jason, Argyle, Heather) vying for his hand and represent various types of typical bachelor contestants. The funny ones, the good guys, the people there for clout, the people who somehow think they can get away with going on a dating show while still involved in a situationship back home, and the people who decide to do a reality show instead of go to therapy for their bag of issues. Billy is an instagram model hired by producers to be the seasons 'villian' and be hated by the audience. It's just supposed to be a free vacation where he gets to make some extra cash to be his most extra before he's finally sent home. But oops, they fall in love. Leaving them to figure out how they build a life together after the show when there are NDA's involved and they are the most hated ship in America.

Newspaper Club Au: This is a no upside down college fic featuring Billy/Nancy friendship, nerd!billy and jock!Steve. I haven't decided yet whether it's modern, 80s, or an ambiguous setting but the basic gist is the boys meet in college. Steve is there on a sports scholarship and chose California to follow Nancy, now his ex-girlfriend. Billy's an English major who works on the school paper with Nancy (one of his electives). He's pissed when she puts him on the sports column as it means he actually has to attend the games. He starts using the column to flirt with/aka harass swimmer Steve through increasingly ridiculous and suggestive commentary. The campus thinks it's a riot. Steve thinks Billy's an asshole and making him the butt of a joke just because he's a "dumb jock". Nancy plays matchmaker and also saves the integrity of her paper by finagling Billy into helping Steve write an essay for his English literature elective. Billy takes the opportunity to show him he was 1000 percent serious about wanting to know if his dick is even bigger out of the speedo.

Onto the POSTED fics

Blinding Baby Like City Lights: Is a dom/sub au where everyone is either a dominant, submissive, or switch. Basically some people need to dominate to stay balanced and others need to submit, or some mix of the two. And everyone responds differently to different things, creating many different 'types.' Naturally not all types are good for each other. Billy is a masochistic sub, has known it for a long time but wasn't safe to explore it growing up with an abusive sadist for a father. He's managed to claw his way out of his abusive home and become a successful business man who is often mistaken for a dom. He found family in Heather & Chrissy, but never a dominant he can trust enough to handle him and give him exactly what he needs. Steve's a recovering sadist. Too much privilege and neglectful parents lead him to some pretty unhealthy and toxic tendencies in his relationship with his first love Nancy. Hawkins was a safe place… or so people believed. Underneath the false safety net was a dark ominous world awaiting to be discovered. The fairly tight knit community of Hawkins never even anticipated the safe town to be… cursed. The safety of Hawkins was taken for granted by far too many people… the people fortunate enough to have not been dealt the wrong hand. Who had not been forced into a cruel sort of headspace. Into a cruel situation… for one man’s desires. Selfishness. Doctor Brenner. The man who had founded in this organisation that ripped children away from their families… simply due to the fact the children weren’t normal. They were odd. Strange. Different. And in this world different wasn’t good. Not to the outside world at least… but Brenner saw it as a chance. A unique chance to test the limits of his lab rats. The toxic, dark environment of Hawkins Laboratory was indefinitely fucked up. The place wasn’t for the weak. Constant tests, constant mind games, bullying, empty promises… it was dystopia almost. A cruel system that was unstoppable because no one tried to stop Brenner. No one knew there were real life children. Human beings.. being tested on like some sort of caged animal within the lab. It was disgusting. But what society didn’t know was easily covered up by authorities and the government. Having the government on your side meant it was easy to get away with everything and anything… one of the numbers die? Easily replaceable. That was Brenner’s mindset. He truly didn’t have any care for any of the children whatsoever… he just wanted to use them to his own benefit.

That evening was cold and miserable, rain had been pouring down as per usual. The drop in temperature making the small bedrooms very cold. Of course there was heating, but not much. Brenner used all the money and income from the laboratory for the heinous experiments performed upon the children. Guards trailed back and forth over every unassigned corridor, a few orderlies walking back and forth between different bedrooms checking on the subjects- making sure they were all doing as they were supposed to. However unbeknownst to them the taunting laughter of different children echoed around the rainbow room. Four children- two teenagers dressed in grey sweatpants and a great T-shirt along with two younger children dressed in hospital gowns who as per usual followed the crowd when it came to teasing. “Oh dear, 002 We’ve got you all alone now…” 003 taunted lips curved up into an evil grin. Cruel. He had always been a problem, first with 11. Now with Heather, aka 002. “What ever are you going to do? Go cry to mummy and daddy?” The teen pouted, clearly taking the piss. “Oh yeah. You cant. They’re dead.” And just as he said that he roughly shoved the girl, clear carelessness on his part… 003’s words made the others around him laugh, every person within the facility had no family. Or if they did… they didn’t know about it. Maybe 003 was just taking those difficult emotions out on Heather because he knew he could.

The boys eyes were cold, the four individuals soon backing up slightly so they were all in a makeshift square around Heather “try to fight back.. c’mon… make it fun.” Three demanded, as all four of them began using their powers simultaneously on Heather. Attempting to hurt her, make her lose her footing so she fell over.. doing everything in their power to hurt her. “They waste their time on you… you’re nothing but a stupid pathetic girl who no one cares about…” it was almost as if 003 was genuinely projecting his own insecurities onto her to make himself feel better. The taunting continued, the loud laughter, the cruel words… all of the sudden loudness of the situation was quick to spark interest in one wandering orderly. Dressed in pristine white clothes, blond hair tidy and neat, face sharp and unreadable…:

Henry came to a slow stop, footsteps falling silent as he stared at the rainbow room doors listening close trying to decipher what was going on… he eventually however decided to investigate as he slowly walked forwards, stopping just beside the door- slender fingers pressing against the metal column against the door, he listened hearing a familiar voice. Either 002 was part of the problem or she was being targeted, Henry’s jaw clenched slightly as he without even thinking pushed the door open his tall figure immediately grabbing the attention of the bullies who looked beyond horrified. His cold eyes focused on Heather, baby blues then moving to look at 003. He didn’t say anything, allowing the silence to engulf them… allowing them to feel each passing second rip into their soul, he glared slightly before tilting his head. “You know what happened before, Three.” He then slowly turned his head to look at the multiple security cameras in the room, a small red dot flickering slightly proving it was recording… someone must’ve been watching. He took slow careful steps into the room “I think it’s past your bedtime.” He warned the youngsters whom, in a very scaredy cat move ran for their lives Henry’s attention then flicking to look at the teenagers his eyes cold, lips formed in a thin line. “She started it.” Three spat out eyes deranged and angry, 001 however was not impressed “quiet.” He spoke eyes daring him, challenging him to disobey orders one more time “Papa will be disappointed in you. Maybe you just didn’t learn from last time.” He spoke simply, voice unwavering and cold as he glared into their souls, the piercing look on his face enough to make anyone quiver in fear. The glare remained on his face, he knew this being strike two of 003’s dumb decisions meant he most likely would get solitary confinement. If not worse… but only if Henry told Dr Brenner about it all.

His blue eyes slowly trailed back to look at Heather his eyes remaining cold yet in the slightest of ways his eyes softened… you just had to look really close to notice it. His eyes remained on her face as his body slowly turned to face her “are you hurt, 002?” He asked eyes cautious before his eyes moved briefly across her face and down her body- as if checking for any visible damage before he looked back into her eyes “it’s okay…” he spoke quietly to her “he won’t do this again.” Henry assured, words practically terrifying the two guilty teenagers. Henry was Brenner’s number one… golden boy… anything Henry said was immediately taken seriously…. The punishment wasn’t going to be a walk in the park any longer. Henry straightened his spine as he slowly turned to look back at 003, cowardly boy, still glaring at Heather yet so cowardly… it made no sense… but Henry meant it. He would make him regret it.

the illegitimate child of a wealthy Houston lawyer, Mark Birch, and a Vietnamese immigrant he was having an affair with. Genevieve was adopted into the Birch family when she was a toddler, after Mark and his wife, Stephanie, had trouble getting pregnant

a few years later, Stephanie and Mark were able to conceive. Genevieve did not welcome having younger siblings–she feared that this meant she was replaceable.

natural intelligence plus a terror of failure caused her to overachieve in school, always on honor roll and in the most prestigious extra curriculars. if she wasn’t perfect she was nothing and Genevieve Birch refused to be nothing. this pattern of success eventually cemented her as her father’s favorite

the two had grand plans after the graduated–they were going to move to NYC, Heather was going to become a world-renowned sculptor and Viva would be a wealthy doctor.

the first was easy enough–Viva got accepted into NYU med school (but not Cornell or Columbia–Viva was as devastated by the situation as Heather was amused) Heather got a security job at an art gallery and soon started selling her pieces as well

it was a beautiful life. a charmed life. Viva was able to be her full, intense self and Heather was there to soften her edges. Heather could be as raw and vulnerable as she needed to and Viva would protect her

in 2011, a month after Viva started her residency as a cardiologist and a month before New York legalized gay marriage, Heather was diagnosed with cancer. it was fast moving, terminal. Viva dropped her residency and stayed home to nurse Heather full time. 

when Heather passed, Viva was broken. she didn’t want to be a doctor anymore, not when there would be patients like Heather, patients who couldn’t be healed, only comforted. against almost everyone’s advice she switched her specialty to forensic pathology. can’t grieve for dying patients when they come to you dead already

Viva’s bullheadedness and cold ambition proved to be an asset when working with the NYPD. corruption may have been an unstoppable force but Viva was an immovable object, and she quickly gained a reputation as one of the most competent and trustworthy members of the forensics department

MY THOUGHTS ON TOTAL DRAMA 2023!

Hey everyone! Hope you campers are doing well today because I have a review just for you!

Total Drama is a franchise I didn't get to watch live on television. Mainly because I didn't get to see it growing up. However, that all changed when I reached high school and got majorly hooked. I liked the campers, the challenges, the wacky hijinks, the romance drama, and everything that makes the show unique. My favorite season is ROTI for a long time (Please don't hate. World Tour is a close third to the Ridonculous Race for me). All the characters, even the terrible ones, have all made quite the impression on me. For years, I've waited for new content to be uploaded, watching the stupid Dramarama, was there when Reunion shut down, and enjoy the pseudo series of Disventure Camp.

Now a new season has come out and let me be positive in saying that this was one of the best seasons in a long time.

New Chris voice? Doesn't bother me since I kinda liked the new voice direction.

All new cast instead of the old one? Thank goodness! The old cast is great, but new people are fun too! Stop whining for the old and embrace the new for a change.

Multicultural and LGBTQ rep? Sign me up! I loved Nichelle, Priya, Millie, Damien, and Bowie so much! Was surprised at the pairing of Bowie and Raj, too. Love them boys so much!

Challenges that felt different, but still stuck with the formula? Heck yeah! I loved the selfie one, the hunger one was funny, and the catapult one was so cool!

Were there negatives? Emma and Chase brought the season down sometimes. I liked Emma, but not enough to call her my favorite. She just needs to break up with that egotistical slimeball called Chase! Scary Girl being eliminated early hurt me too. She was funny. Damien got robbed, but he did that to himself.

My favorite characters made this season great for me!

Priya is my baby! She's funny, determined, and a hard worker. An athletic nerd girl to her core who trained to be on this show. I don't get the Priya hate, she's amazing! Sure she carried Millie, but that's what a girl in her shoes would do to a best friend. I liked their dynamic a lot.

Millie surprised me with how much I started to like her. She started off as a closet nerd that had a pension for being judgemental and mended her ways. Making friends with Priya was the best thing that ever happened to her. I bet she would get more love if they made her a villian.

Bowie....need I say more? He's the moment, the true villian in my opinion, and he slayed! His relationship with Raj was sweet, his friendship with Emma was funny, and his rivalry with Julia was top notch! This boy should come back for another season and kill it again!

Scary Girl aka Lauren was a fun character. A sweet little psycho who was Gothic and funny. I lived her wild card mindset of just being kooky and nutty while displaying certain strengths.

Damien was a cool nerd. Like he was chill and scared, but also knew his science. He came on the show expecting the million to be given to him. He's like if you mixed DJ with Cameron and added a dash of awesome. He wanted to get off so bad that he wasted his time. Bummer...

I feel bad for Nichelle though. Girlboss turned Girlfail real fast. I thought she was going to be the cool girl a la Heather and become the major villian. However, I just wanted to hug her instead. Hope she gets another season too.

Raj and Wayne are package deal and the bestest of bros. Wayne cracked me up when he noticed Raj was gay. He was literally the fan base when we all heard. Raj was a sweetie too. His crush on Bowie was the right amount of meet cute, awkward glances, and then Bowie became his hero. Boy loves his man more than hockey itself. How darling!

The other characters were okay in my opinion. Some were decent like MK and Zee. Chase can go die in a ditch with his car's breaks cut. Ripper was annoying. Julia was like a better version of crazy Courtney with Heather skills. Axel was fine too.

Chris and Chef's dynamic was much better than previously bad ones and Chef made me chuckle a few times. He's such an overprotective dad figure to the campers when he wants to.

Overall, I loved how the new season gave us a new perspective. Thirteen episodes are just okay to me, but I hope for more next time. Give this season a chance and maybe two watches before you come down on the hammer. It has gen z kids as the protagonists now, they are going to be different from the old cast. They were early z's, these campers are late z's. Do not be so hard on them.

i haven’t done a what i’m playing/watching post in awhile so let’s do that (no spoilers)

been watching nge with phil for a bit, we’re quite near the end and would be done by now if i hadn’t had to press pause cause my mental health unexpectedly got real bad 😔 thank u bestie for your patience with me 🙏 i’ve been promising to do this with her since forever and i feel pretty shitty bringing it to a halt like this lmao.

last night bella and i started watching channel zero on a whim, we’re nearly through the first season aka teeth child the child made of teeth. i don’t know how intentional some of the humor in this has been but i’ve actually guffawed out loud at some points. i feel like it is somewhat meant to be a bit cheeky and dark since it’s kris straub-derived, you know in that way when something fucked up happens and somebody smiles and says “everything’s fine” as if you didn’t see the fucked-up thing with your own two eyeballs. that kind of funny. (“these are tortillas.” you know what i mean.)

we also binged good omens season 2 in one afternoon. uhh i really enjoyed it. i liked how it decided to tell a smaller story this time. you know how so often in shows and things the stakes have to keep escalating. and good omens started with the literal end of the world so they were like hm. let’s just scale it back and tell a love story or two. all on this one little street. like… it feels like fun supplementary material to the first season. like a tie-in novel kind of thing if that makes sense. i dunno it just feels kinda like… the right move. it makes it more, dare i say, human and personal, which kind of dovetails well with the themes of the first season. like a little complement. and ofc. the casting and acting are just so exemplary. i have a crush on every boy.

we’ve also watched some movies. i’m not sure i remember them all but here are the most recent ones:

i watched the heathers musical (a proshot is free with adds on roku). here’s a confession: i’ve never seen the movie and didn’t fully know the plot other than murder? so i was like hm maybe the teen suicide satire was not the best choice for a bad mental health episode. but anyway i watched all of it. the performances are really good, especially heather chandler who just ate every scene and knew it. the songs were pretty good too, dead girl walking and i say no were probably the best ones. ohhhh and i loved the actress who played martha, she was flawless. it was pretty fun(?) but weirdly like… sincerely uplifting for being a dark satire. more has been written by people who know much better than me about the “musicals for teens” trend so i won’t go into it but it feels like this is an extension of that.

i also watched legally blonde the musical (uploaded probably not legally to youtube from when it aired on mtv in 2007 so the quality isn’t amazing but it’s perfectly watchable). it is a lot of fun. a couple of weird added-in race things? but again, it’s from 2007. oh but i hated paulette’s intro song and i just don’t understand why they decided to do… that with her character. just a baffling choice. the actress was really good though. we also did some dissecting about how they gave elle less agency in her own empowerment in favor of emmett doing it which wasn’t a great choice!!!! anyway definitely not as good as the movie but very fun as a supplement to it. and dogs!!!!

i saw the autopsy of jane doe for the first time. it was a pretty good time! some really good spookenings and lots of little fucked-up things happening, which is what i like in a horror movie. i’ll definitely watch it again.

we watched infinity pool and i just don’t know exactly how i feel about it! i prrrrobably won’t watch it again actually, but not because it was bad, just because it was like, ah well that was an experience, but not one that needs to be repeated. the themes and ideas were good and executed in an interesting way, i think ultimately it’s just not exactly For Me. however mia goth as always is perfection. remember when i saw emma period and i said harriet stole the show. i was ahead of my time.

we also watched influencer which might kind of be a new favorite! such good acting especially by the lead. just loved all the choices it made, most of which i was not expecting. a good fucking time tbh. also absolutely gorgeous scenery, every frame a painting truly.

a little while back i watched gone in the night with winona ryder. i need to stress that i watched this in two halves a couple days apart cause that really drove home how fucking off the rails this movie gets in the latter half. the first half is a pretty standard intriguing mystery and then the second is just like let’s answer all these questions in the most out-there way possible short of bringing anything supernatural or aliens into the mix. not a good movie i’ll be honest!!

i really want to see talk to me, which will maybe be on streaming next month but probably only for renting/“owning” blah. also red white and royal blue drops next friday! i think that’s gonna be a fun time with the girlies.

i haven’t really read anything lately, i started a book a few weeks ago but haven’t really had the mental fortitude to focus on it.

as for the games i’ve been spending some time with my switch lately. i’ve messed around quite a bit in zelda, did my third divine beast. i have to admit, guys. i just really fucking hate the weapon degradation system. combat in general in this game just isn’t a thing i enjoy at all. it’s very hard for me to get stuck in which is why it’s taking so long to finish it. i have to spend so much time breaking and changing weapons and i just really really don’t like that. and then hitting with the weapons isn’t fun and then they break again. which is a shame cause i like so many other things about it. exploration is like my favorite thing to do in games. if it wasn’t so bogged down by the stupid weapon system i’d be having a lot more fun. idk why this choice was made. it wasn’t a good one. at the very least they could have made things not be SO brittle so that it’s not SO VERY MUCH of the gameplay. but anyway. I like collecting all my little items and making little gear upgrades and throwing things in a pot and seeing what comes out, especially when it makes that little noise that means you did real good.

i also have finally got back to hadesgame. I remember why i stopped!!!!! because i feel like i’m hitting my head against a wall and not actually getting any better!!!!! but i have done lots of little side things, upgrades and relationships and prophecies and things. plus it’s just a really good time sink, which i’ve kind of needed lately. i could switch on god mode at any time, but i know i can succeed without it, i just… don’t know how. cause i am constantly not succeeding. blaaaaaaaah.

(playing it has made me need to listen to hadestown several more times tho. as an aside.)

i also started kentucky route zero. i like it a lot so far, but it’s like reading in that it’s not an instant gratification colors and noises game, it’s something i gotta focus on, so it’s been a bit slow. still, definitely my shit and i’m looking forward to seeing where it goes. might have slightly spoiled myself trying to find out if the dog dies but. whatever. the journey not the destination.

i’ve probably watched more stuff but i don’t really remember it. that’s probably the bulk of things from the last couple months anyway. happy august ig.
