Twst Loop Theories/Analyses … (Mostly of Leona Oji-tan's)
Savannaclaw’s the deepest and most mysterious theory I have translated tbh...
This time it’s ALL of the people that are from the Savannaclaw Arc (Even Cheka!)
Jokes on you if you haven't dissected the op like I have. We (as players) have made a contract with Azul :3
Tumblr media
Leona is an important person in the Loop Theory, aka Rapunzel theory. And one way is by looking at his hair.
Leona’s hair is brown, unlike Scar’s black mane. Most characters have a main villain base and other characters as a sub-base. Leona’s is Scar main and possibly Kion as a sub base. (more on that later in the bottom) But a lot of characters have more than 2 bases so what if the base is in his looks?
Leona’s hair is brown with braids. So, in the Disney’s franchise there's only one specific person, or princess that would fit this description. Rapunzel. These two have a lot in common if you look for them.
Leona is 20. Rapunzel is 20 by the 3rd season of the TV series.
Like I said, looks Rapunzel did have brown hair as well as green eyes. When she has long hair in the tv series, she did braid her hair sometimes. But in the end she did cut her hair again, like in the end of the movie. So Leona might cut his hair in the end. (I will miss his hair)
The Fairy Gala had lilies in Leona’s SSR. In the movie, there are similar lilies when Rapunzel gets out of her tower.
And the buddies of his card are the light trio, Rook, Silver, and Kalim. All three of them have a part that is based off of the ‘good’ characters.
His tarot card is the tower; if the tarot card theory is true, then it does fit in with the description. Especially the part that Rapunzel was trapped inside a tower. In the story Leona (Rapunzel) is trapped in the tower (NRC)
Both of them also share a similar power (kind of not but). Rapunzel has a power that is called the “sun drop”- it came from the sundrop flower. The power of the “Sun Drop” can help slow down aging, heal, and as well as recover what was once lost. Leona’s power is King's Roar. His power “dries up the opponent and turns everything into sand”. (I don't fully believe it because of my last post but this is this) We are going to assume “in the end” it will become sand.
In the world of Rapunzel. There is a stone called the “Moonstone Opal”. This stone is the exact opposite of the “Sun Drop”, and it- kills and takes away life. In the 14th episode of season 2, Rapunzel finds an old scroll and chants the “Reverse Inaction”; it makes the animals decay and the people around hard to breathe. This was only the first half of the lyrics so the power of destruction was probably not complete. Half of the lyrics can kill, but unlike Leona’s power, it can’t fully destroy the shape.
Cassandra, the daughter of Gothel, did use the powers (her hair and eyes became different) and if she touched anything they would decay; like Leona’s powers of drying the things he touched after using “Kings Roar”. And in the end of season 3 Rapunzel did absorb part of the Moonstone Opal’s powers.
So what will Leona do in the story? If you look at the prologue 0-0 in the end title you’ll notice it either
turns to sand
or the fire went out.
In the movie of Rupunzle the antagonist, Mother Gothel (Evil Queen is the motif), and in the end, she loses the power of Rapunzel’s hair and drops from the tower and becomes dust leaving her robe behind. I did say this before of him being “The Tower” card. But what if in the end... He uses his magic and makes the person/thing Crowley revived into sand?
(Personally I think there's a chairman or someone that Crowley will revive. Mallenoa? IDK, there's a person or something I think)
But before the soul disappears, Crowley flies into the mirror and uses his magic to rewind time, which is what might happened, and he tries to find his “Happy ending”
But Leona doesn’t lose his memory, and the Messiah, Lilia, is probably the one who knows and is teaming up secretly. It was especially suspicious when Leona purposely overblotted, which I think, was because of Lilia’s words....
It would make sense if it was the fire going out, because it can also ties in with Rapunzel. Leona is probably going to break the loop with MC.
I did say that Leona does have chess pieces in his room that tie in with the Light trio. (below)
Rook: Rook Hunt’s name
Knight: Silver thinks he has a talent for a sword and “silver sword”. Also Malleus’s knight
Pawn: Kalim is a pawn to Jamil (He tried to use him to become King in the movie and in the arc)
Also, Leona would be the “king” chess piece
And Leona’s best subject is “ancient curses”, like Rapunzel he can use harmful ones, like his unique magic too. What if he knows a spell that can “go back in the past?
If he did It would make sense why his memories aren’t lost. So in conclusion Leona is the Rapunzel trapped in the tower called “Twisted Wonderland”
But other than the pieces what gave away that he is the traveler?
Something with Azul’s contracts and the scar on his eye is still not clear. But, first let’s look at his name.
Kingscholar can be seprated into King (ruler) and Scholar (a specialist in a branch of study). Scholars usually point to social sciences, or humanities. These branches of study study the human values and how they express the feelings; they require knowledge from phycology to history. If the word “scholar” is in his name, then it can be reasoable to think that he may be “observing and analyzing a person or a thing”
Leona’s best subject is “ancient curses”, and he is good at protection spells as well as pharmacy (the study of medication). Those do require a lot of knowledge to be good at. Why would he need to repeat the grade if he is so smart?
On Youtube (とろちゃんねる), Leona broke the loop in between his second year and third year.
In the 4th arc, Mickey’s third remark in the dream is the reason the number “3″ is really weird, almost incompatible.
Leona is 20 he’s in his third year for the third time (if the loop theory is true). If I am correct then the time MC came is when the “3″s (triple)overlapped. He also asked how many stones Grimm ate after the third arc.
This is where Jack’s origin comes in. Jack most likely originated from the author of “White Fang” (Jack London), but there’s more. In my other theory, I said that the MC’s body is not there, that Jack may be referenced from the TV show of the Lion King, Lion Gard’s, Ray-ray. In the show, they defeat Scar, who died and came back to life. Maybe this is also a clue...
In a personal talk, Savannaclaw was talking about the King of Beasts (or whatever they called it). People usually thought “Oh, it's about Scar” but, it's not. It’s not Simba or Mufasa either. It's not Kion as well. If I summarize the traits of the king they were talking about then it becomes like this:
He ruled with his power and fangs, and rejected his older brother to become the king in an attempt to great a good country with wisdom and order to change the affiliation of the strong bullying the weak
The King of Beasts does not discriminate
“The King of the sky that guides the stars” was called “firefly” and “Great King from the Past”
The nephew of the king was not at the king’s coordination ceremony (Leona and Jack’s conversation)
Leona’s scar on his eye and the King of Beast’s scare are the same. But, Leona avoided answering the question when Ruggie asked him when his scare was from. (Ruggie and Leona’s conversation)
The anecdote of the king; he can apperently talk to hippos, giraffes, lions, and monkeys. (Jack and Leona)
The hornbill, who served the royal family, noticed the change in the country and gave their opinion to the king of beasts infromed. The king is very considerate and king and listened to the opinions and advice. (Ruggie and Leona)
Most of it is describing Scar
but 3,6,7 are far from matching him.
3 is taking about the “ The King of the sky that guides the stars”. This description is very fitting to “Roar of the Elders” from Lion Gard. Yes, there is a time where this kinda happened in the main story. (also Leona’s unique magic is referenced from “Roar of the Elders”
6. We do have a hippo friend in “Lion Gard”, but not any other animals in the original ones. (The giraffe is missing)
7. the Hornbill is Zazu from lion king, who does serve the royal family. He is present from the original “Lion King” and is with Kion in the show. Something seems off to my guts.
“Why are they favoring Kion?”, you may ask. But Kion and Scar have a trait they share. They are both second born. Also Kion’s roar becomes the strongest; there is a story when he got the cobra venom in his eye and became violent and couldn’t control his power. His scar is as the same as Leona and Scar’s left eye. In season three you see Kion with two lines as a scar on his eye.
In conclusion, what the Savannaclaw students were talking about is either “Kion” or “a lion other than Scar and Kion”.If it is Scar the King, number 1 explained, then the flow of the story is too convenient.  It’s also unclear if it is Kion as well; if it's the conversation after season 3 then I would have no idea.
 The Key part is his Tattoo and Azul’s contract (Bet you didn’t see that coming)
In “Lion Gard”, the guards all have a tatoo. Leona does have powers and has a tattoo on the same left arm (technically) as Kion. But unlike Kion’s, the tatoo is a different color. We’ve seen this shade of color. Yes, it’s the same as Azul’s ink.
(Pull out Azul’s Dorm SSR, after Groovy)
We can’t read the contract, but Lin Channel (on YouTube) is doing gods work and translated into actual words (English cursive) it reads:
Contract:
I am wishing mate
I wishes senior siring
nephew smiling
inwhere inway amaging waiting
winner winter welcoming
where wide whichever via where wiser anniversary
For all eternity (For all eternity is from the original “Little Mermaid”’s contract)
Let me explain how she’s doing the work, Google (yea, teachers) She looks up people’s hand writings and can conclude things (the long curve after “i” may be the ending “ing”) But, if I clear it up and make it normal English it would look like this:
I want a companion
I wish my brother and nephew a smile
I am ambushing and waiting
Anywhere in the place where
the winter of victory comes
This is just my thoughts, but “brother and nephew” may be Cheka and Leona’s brother, which would be reasonable why such a minor character like Cheka got voice acted.
Winter could be meaning Hades, who kidnapped Persephone and made winter. So, maybe Idia could be the key to our victory here. And this would expain why Savannaclaw was between Ignihyde and Diasomnia
Winter could also mean Cheka and Leona’s brother’s heart. They could be lonely (Grim asks Leona about his family, and Grim replies with “They must be lonely, being in a dark cold place” or something like that)
I’m sure that Leona made the contract for Cheka and his brother. He is the only character with a nephew. The tsun-dere side of Leona would explain why he didn’t want to tell anyone about what the contract is about.
Just by the contract and the loop theory we can tell that he is important. But what if he is not based off of Scar... But rather, Kion from “Lion Gard”? If I look into the original characters of what Leona is based off of, then I would forget about “Leona”. Yana Toboso is twisting our brain like that, such as in “Black Butler”, and maybe thats another reason why the game is called “Twisted Wonderland”
So what we all we know about Leona is:
Leona’s tattoo
he is aware of the loop or he is suspicious of the loop
Jack’s position (We don’t know as much as I would like about his power)
Cheka will appear again (he does get Voice acted, and maybe that’s what the second arc will be about. He also said something about having a fiancée so maybe an event?)
Leona overblotted instead of Ruggie (my other theory)
I do think the tattoo may be made by Azul in the other loop, and he is aware of the loop or will remember of the loop because of the tattoo
But it is Yana Toboso sensei so... I may be wrong~
~~~
Posting this after Leona's magic is aeration theory bc his unique magic makes no sense.
Multiverse or Azul theory next?
If you can comment that will be appreciated (likes and reblogs are appreciated.
I also wrote this 2 years ago
Idk if its right but I did make some changes :3
The Labyrinth-verse aka In which my Peppino plush goes through a several dream long character arc that has a lotta bizarre and kinda disturbing implications
DATE(S) FORGOTTEN
Okay, for context, here’s a pic of the boi, he exists, I bought him off of Fangamer a few whiles back, look at him.
Tumblr media
He didn’t have the ribbon on his hat during the events of these dreams tho, that’s a more recent edition.
Now onto the dreams and stuff.
This…”series” takes place over 4 or 5 different dreams and takes place in a universe I’ve come to call “The Labyrinthverse”, named after a backrooms like area that was in said verse called The Labyrinth. There were many entrances to The Labyrinth hidden in multiple locations around that specific part of the universe I was in, the first of which was found in a fancy restaurant I went to with my dad in the first dream (which was the only Labyrinth dream that didn’t have Pep in it, mostly cause I didn’t have him yet at that time.)
The Labyrinth itself was made up of many levels full of these zombie-like people who would try to attack you if they found you, with said zombies becoming more dangerous the deeper in you got. Luckily, you could also find various weapons and resources in The Labyrinth that could help you survive, and maybe even escape.
For some reason a lotta people in that verse would actively seek out the entrances to it for reasons I still am not sure of. Maybe they believe some sort of treasure or reward laid in its depths, or perhaps they just did it for the thrill of it all.
Anyway, going back to the plot summary bullshit. A few months or something after this first dream when my Peppino plush was still new to my plushie hoard (as well as the whole traveling with me to other universes via my dreams thing, which he was at first a little reluctant towards but soon warmed up to). This was when I found another entrance to The Labyrinth inside a dying mall. I remember Pep being extremely anxious about being in The Labyrinth and wanting to leave as soon as possible. I remember there were these unreasonably complex puzzles that were blocking our only way out and having to use my reality warping powers to solve them. (Would’ve taken hours to finish them the “vanilla” way and ain’t nobody got time for that)
It was around then when we encountered these two women who turned out to be the kinda-sorta “final bosses” of the Labyrinth who basically controlled the entire place. I guess something about me “solving” the puzzle so quickly got there attention, cause usually you can only find the controllers at the very depths of the Labyrinth, which looks like a combination of a theatre and Hell itself.
And to make a long story short, this ritual of sorts ended up happening that created these fucked up clones of me and my Peppino plush called Bent!Neo and Bent!Peppino who ended up becoming the new “rulers” of The Labyrinth.
Tumblr media
Idk why or what my reasoning it was for it, but for the rest of the Labyrinth Arc my goal was basically to find my way back to the very bottom of the Labyrinth and kill Bent!Neo. I think it was cause I thought doing that would destroy the Labyrinth, thus freeing anyone trapped in it but I’m not quite sure.
I remember that a few dreams later in the series, my Peppino plush’s soul ended up getting “stuck” inside the Labyrinthverse and I ended up having to go back to sleep to retrieve him. During this dream, Bent!Peppino started helping me behind Bent!Neo’s back, telling me where my Pepp was and helping me find him so he could “go home” so to speak. The reason for this was because while the Bent versions of us were in control of the Labyrinth, Bent!Pepp began to remember things.
Things that definitely weren’t from the Pizza Tower verse.
Things… from a past life in the verse The Labyrinth is in.
Turns out that (according to the dreams I had) before my Peppino plush existed, his… soul? Consciousness? Existed as the spirit of this guy who lived in the Labyrinthverse and ended up dying and eventually “possessing” the plush, thus giving Pepp sentience. Apparently the reason Bent!Pepp was able to learn this before the regular Pepp did was because his former self’s SON, named Benny ended up in the Labyrinth, where I guess they somehow crossed paths, thus causing him to remember his past life.
Bent!Peppino insisted on helping me defeat Bent!Neo as long as I promised to help my Peppino remember who he used to be and also make sure Benny would make it out of the Labyrinth alive.
It all reached a climax when I ended up teaming up with Benny and basically defeating Bent!Neo once and for all. Because of this, the Labyrinth was put into a dormant state of sorts, regular Peppino finally remembers his past life, and blah blah blah happy ending, you get it. For some reason, even though Bent!Neo and the Labyrinth were gone, Bent!Peppino was still around, and ended up deciding to stay in that verse with his kid.
For a while, that seemed to be the end of The Labyrinth arc and my journeys in it, until a more recent dream where I ended up back in that verse. Turned out, Bent!Neo wasn’t completely destroyed in that final battle, but instead was now left as an unstable blob of sorts, hellbent on getting their revenge against me. Luckily for me, I haven’t seen anything of him or that verse since then, so I guess that’s all she wrote so to speak.
But yeah, that’s all I have to say. I procrastinated on finishing the draft of this post WAY TOO HARD so it’s now been months since this arc of my dreams has ended. Hopefully y’all still enjoyed it nonetheless! :)
I have a bit more dream lore stuff to catch y’all up on, so be sure to stay tuned for more of this in the future if you enjoyed this little rambling
hey! Good day :) here to ask a question!! I was wondering about your process for analysis, character analysis, theme analysis- do you just write or are there specific things you look for? I suppose I’m curious if you have an idea/general gist of what you’re doing or steps you take to do your breakdowns. I’m trying to do something similar out of interest and your works are simply fascinating to read. I look up to your writing a lot!
hello!! Can I ask how you started analysing shows, how you went about it? I’m learning literary analysis and trying to do the same for hunter x hunter but I find it infinitely harder to analyse shows. Especially since I most notably consider diction in literary analysis lol
Hi!
Thank you for your nice words anon(s) and yay! I love meta-asks <3<3<3
So, it depends on the meta. In general, I try to focus on a specific topic, which can be:
a character (arc + foiling between characters)
a theme
the use of a specific motif, when it comes to a character or a theme
These are my three favourite kinds of analyses, but there are other types, as well. For example, some people are really into plot theories/predictions. Others prefer to focus on characters from a psychological viewpoint. Some other writers like to use philosophical lens or to compare different works. It really depends on your preference.
My preference is mostly for thematic analyses. This means that my character metas too tend to use a thematic lens. So...
WHAT IS THE THEME?
In short, the theme of a story is both:
the topic the story is exploring
the moral of the story, aka a phrase which summarizes its message
Stories explores topics through characters and plot, while the way the conflict is solved tells us the moral.
Some examples:
RWBY's main topic is humanity in both its weakness and strength and its moral is that victory is in a simple soul
Madoka's main topic is wishes and its moral is that it is worth to want things and to fight for them, even if it is painful
HXH is strange structurally, but its main topic is self-search, with its moral being that a person should not focus on the goal, but enjoy the journey
All of these messages and ideas aren't just things stated in dialogues (even if someone saying the theme helps). They emerge from the story itself.
RWBY's main conflict is about a destroyed world (remnant) surviving the anger of an evil witch (Salem). If humans let hate divide them, they lose. If they unite, they win. The main thematic question is then... can humans make the right choice? And the answer is that they can, as long as they remain simple souls (Ruby, but also Pyrrha at Beacon, Blake in Managerie, Yang in Mistral, Weiss with her family, JNR when they tag along and Penny in Atlas). The main message is that several people making the right choice leads to change. And that is humanity. This is why the characters keep being asked to give up their idealism and to embrace a more utilitarian way of doing things. And this is why every time they refuse and stick to their idealism. The conflict itself keeps testing their resolution.
Madoka's power system works through wishes, so the girls' powers and their backstories are all defined by their wishes and by how they relate to them. Madoka doesn't know what she wants. Homura's wish turns into an obsession. Mami makes a wish too early and thinks only about herself. Kyouko and Sayaka make a wish for someone else and have opposite reactions to their wishes ending poorly. Finally, it is revealed the girls' wishes are literally the force that keeps the world at balance. So, the plot, character arcs, conflict and worldbuilding are all about wishes.
HXH is made up of several arcs and each arc has its own theme. That said, the overall structure conveys the main theme. Gon's objective is to find Ging, but he keeps taking detours and getting engulfed in unrelated conflicts. However, the moment he meets Ging he realizes it is not his father who defines him, but rather it is all the people he met in his journey and his own experiences. Basically, HXH's strange structure conveys the main theme.
So, the theme (both topic and moral) should emerge by the characters, the worldbuilding, the conflict and sometimes even by the structure itself. In order to find it, one should start with the topic and ask themselves "What does the story really talk about?". The answer to this question will let you understand the theme as topic. The second step is to see how the story explores it.
DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW ON THE TOPIC
There are different ways a story can explore a topic. Still, the best stories have different perspectives clash with each other. Very often these different points of view are embodied by different characters.
Here are some examples, with some linked metas that explore the respective stories more in depth.
Madoka (topic= wishes):
Tumblr media
Homura is determined to fulfill her wish no matter what
Kyubey is her opposite, as they are unable to wish since they lack feelings. This is why they need to recruit girls into creating energy through wishes
Madoka is in the middle, as she wants to wish for something, but doesn't know what
Mami, Kyouko and Sayaka all explore negative effects linked to wishes, which are connected to other secondary themes. Specifically, Mami explores the consequences of an immature wish, while Sayaka and Kyouko explore the selfishness/selflessness inherent in wishes
The conflict is solved through Madoka learning about the price of wishes, but still choosing to make a wish and to sacrifice her whole self for it. This ending conveys a specific moral: despite the pain and sacrifice that comes with them, wishes are still beautiful and worth it all. If Madoka had chosen to give up being a magical girl and had ended up the series without making a wish, the moral would have been the opposite: that a normal life is better than grandiose and dangerous dreams.
Monster (topic = the value of life)
Tumblr media
Tenma believes that all lives are equal, which is why he chooses to save Johan as a child, despite being ordered to operate a far more influential patient.
Eva and Nina believe that not all lives are equal. In particular, Eva thinks that social status and importance in society influence the value of one's life. Nina instead believes that people who commit crime should be punished and lose their lives.
Johan believes no-life has value, including his own. In his words, the only thing all humans are equal in is death.
Here, the moral is conveyed through the Tenma/Nina vs Johan's conflict. Tenma is tested in his beliefs, but ultimately does not abandon them and ends the story by saving Johan. Nina instead is asked to change her mind, as she ends the story embracing Tenma's point of view.
RWBY - The Atlas Arc (topic = trust)
Tumblr media
Ozpin lacks trust, as he is unable to trust others, no matter how loyal or dedicated to his cause they are
Ruby wants to "trust safely". She wants others, like Ironwood, to prove themselves to her before disclosing the truth to them
Ironwood is initially on Ruby's same page, but he spirals and comes to embody the "enemy of trust" aka control. He doesn't trust others, but wants to control them.
Oscar embodies trust, as he wants to trust Ironwood since the beginning. Even later on, he keeps on trusting people like Hazel and Emerald who are his enemies.
Cinder embodies another "enemy of trust", aka manipulation. She doesn't need to trust others to work with them, as she can use their feelings and wishes against them.
Penny embodies faith, which is a more extreme form of trust. She sacrifices herself and leaves the maiden power to Winter. She has no proof Winter will be able to save Weiss, Jaune or the relic, but she entrusts the future to her.
All these characters struggle with trust and its dangers. Some, like Ozpin, Ironwood and Cinder decide that trusting is too dangerous. Others, like Ruby, Penny and Oscar realize that to trust is the only way to move forward. Moreover, they learn there is not way to trust safely. As a matter of fact the moral of the arc is that "trust is a risk" and risks mean that things can end up badly. Still, not to take risk means to give up hope.
Hazbin Hotel - You didn't know song (topic= knowledge)
Tumblr media
This song explores the idea of knowlege. The characters are after all in the middle of a questioning, which leads to several secrets coming out. Moreover, throughout it all the characters either admit or realize how ignorant they all are. The way they deal with this lack of knowledge establishes different thematic stances.
Charlie and Emily are both naive and ignore the darkest sides of their loved ones. Charlie doesn't know Vaggie used to be an exorcist and Emily has no idea Sera ordered the exterminations. Still, their answer to ignorance is to keep on questioning. They have no idea why only certain souls are admitted in heaven. Still, they think it is important to investigate the phenomenon and use it as evidence that there might be hope for the spirits in hell.
Lute and Adam don't know why some spirits end up in hell and others in heaven. Still, they do not bother to question it. So, Adam is caught by surprise by Charlie's question and has to improvise an answer. Not only that, but even later on the duo insist that Angel not being in Heaven proves he is unholy. And that's it.
Sera does know about the extermination, as she knows the system is unfair. Still, she refuses to question it and forbids others to do the same. She is the only one whose sin isn't ignornace, but knowledge.
There is no a clear thematic resolution to the question posed by the song. This is because the series is not over yet. However, the scene sets up the theme and the way characters will deal with it in later seasons will give us the moral.
As you can see, not only whole stories (like Madoka, or Monster) have themes, but also arcs (RWBY) and even episodes or scenes (Hazbin Hotel). That said, the way to go at it is always the same. Pintpoint the main topic and start investigate how the characters or the worldbuilding deal with it. You are gonna get several stances. The one which emeges victorious is the moral.
Let's highlight that the moral is not always embodied by the protagonist. For example, in the Madoka and RWBY's examples, Madoka and Ruby are initially at a loss and come to learn the moral by the end of the story (for Madoka) and arc (for Ruby). Similarly, Tenma initially does believe the moral, but doubts it throughout the story, only to be reminded and helped by other characters (like Nina).
In any case, the way the protagonist and characters in general relate to the main theme and to secondary themes is key for their arcs.
CHARACTERS AND THEME
When it comes to theme a character can either:
Believe the moral since the beginning
Not believe the moral since the beginning
In the first case, the character either stops believing the moral by the end (negative arc) or keeps believing the moral until the end (positive arc). In the second case, the character either learns the moral (positive arc) or doesn't learn the moral (negative arc).
In short, the story keeps challenging the character on their beliefs and they must either stick to their point of view or change it, depending if they believe in the moral since the beginning or not.
Exhibit A:
Tumblr media
Charlie's belief that sinners can be redeemed is right. Still, in the beginning nobody else agrees with her, so she is challenged by the world around her. Her objective is not to lose faith in the Hazbin Hotel and to inspire others to change their mind too. Throughout her journey, she is bound to grow too. She starts as sheltered and naive with a simplistic idea of what redemption is. By the end, she will gain a deeper understanding of redempion and will grow as a result.
Exhibit B:
Tumblr media
Eren's journey is about realizing what freedom (the main topic) is about. The problem is that he fixates himself on the idea that freedom means no boundaries, either natural nor humans. This leads him to embrace destruction and nihilism and to lose himself. In the end, the character who realizes what freedom truly is is Mikasa. She doesn't discard her bond with Eren, but is still able to make independent choices and to live as herself. In short, Eren doesn't learn the moral, hence why he spirals instead of growing.
Charlie is a protagonist who knows the moral and will grow with it in a positive arc. Eren is a protagonist who doesn't know the moral and never learns it. This is why he has a tragic negative arc.
These are just two examples, but there can be different combinations. By interrogating yourself on how characters relate to a theme, you get better a better understanding of their role in the story and of their overall arcs.
Still, how to find themes in a story? Luckily, each text is full of hints that are there for us to interpret them.
MOTIFS
Motifs are repetitive details within a story, which are used to communicate themes.
Anything can be a motif: a line, a musical tune, a specific imagery, an object. By repeating them in key moments throughout a narrative, they become symbols, which means they can lead to bigger metaphors and convey specific meanings.
In the song More Than Anything, dream is one of the main topics. We realize it because the characters keep mentioning it. At the same time, light keeps popping up. Lucifer summons light and throws it away, Charlie rememebrs a light show Lucifer imrpovised for her. Lucifer and Charlie start the song in the shadow and they end it in the light. This means that "light" is a motif throughout the song and by seeing how it is used we better understand the theme and the relationship between the two characters. We understand that light is a metaphor for dreams. Lucifer gives up on it, Charlie is inspired by it and eventually Lucifer summons it back as he has decided to believe in Charlie's dream. By looking at the way light is used, we can see that Charlie teaches Lucifer the moral that it is worth it to fight for dreams and not to give up on them.
In the CAA of HXH, gungi is a motif that comments both the topic of humanity and Meruem and Komugi's relationship. Their matches become a metaphor of monstrosity vs humanity, as humanity slowly conquers Meruem to the point he himself chooses to live and die as a human, rather than the King of the Ants. Similarly, Kokoriko symbolically becomes Komugi and Meruem's child, in the sense they give birth to this move and evolve the game.
Sometimes, their meaning is unique to the story. For example, gungi is a motif that makes sense within HxH and can't be brought outside of the series, as it is not a real world game. It only exists in that universe. Some other times, a motif can tie to bigger sets of symbols. For example, light and shadow are universal symbols that bring with them several additional meanings:
Good and Evil
The Jungian persona shadow
In the Hazbin Hotel song the first dychotomy doesn't fit, while the second one does. Initially both Lucifer and Charlie hide things from each other (shadow), whereas by the end they show who they are (light).
In short, to analyze a story, you should find its key motifs. They are hints to better understand the theme and the characters. Different stories will use different motifs and tie them to different wider sets of symbols. To find the right ones can help a lot in better understanding a story, as a whole.
Some examples:
RWBY uses fairy tales and alchemy as its main motif, so these two sets of symbols are the most useful to analyze the series
HxH is a shonen and uses its powers and fights to convey character arcs and themes, so to analyze one's nen abilities helps a lot
Hazbin Hotel is a musical series that takes inspiration from religion and mythology. So, it is probable that the best understanding of it will come from analyzing its songs and from looking into its religion inspiration
Of course this doesn't mean you should only use one motif to analyze a story. For example, you can use RWBY's semblances to look into the characters, as well. And there are some fairy tale allusions in Hazbin too. In the end, it is about using what best helps you understand a story as a whole.
What is more, there are general sets of symbols that can be useful in most stories, such as jungian archetypes. Finally, you might want to start from other aspects of the story itself, rather than theme or characters or plot. For example, you might be drawn to the world-building and realize it is used in a special way to explore the theme. Or you might be curious about character designs and see that they have their own symbolism (for example, I believe RWBY ones do and probably Hazbin Hotel ones, as well).
SOME PRACTICAL ADVICE
I have linked in the title of each paragraph, but this last one an article by @septembercfawkes. Her posts are great to better understand narrative structure and I found them enlightening.
I think the best thing you can do is to start with focused metas. Choose a scene, a character, a motif that intrigues you and start exploring it. It is better to start small and to narrow your focus, it would be easier to organize your article.
I usually outline the contents of the meta before starting to write it. Still, it sometimes changes as I keep writing.
It can be useful to write at the beginning of your analysis what you are gonna do. It will help you remember what the point of the meta is. For example, in my RWBY allusion meta or HxH nen meta, I always start with the motif I am analyzing. I summarize the fairy tale (even if many people know it already) and I explain what the character's ability is about. It helps organizing the flow and the contents.
The more you analyze the better you become at it, so it is just a matter of starting :)
Thank you for the asks, I hope this was helpful and not too much confusing!
Have a nice day!
AITA for trying to kill my FUCKING clone?????
Okay okay. So I (18F) wanted to go on a date, right? Except I had two dates at once. I go to a magical school with lots of magic and stuff so I figure, I'll find a magical solution. You know how it is. SO I used a magical emerald to duplicate myself so that my clone could go on one date and I could go on the other, and then I would just dematerialize her later, whatever. Uhhhh well my clone turned out to be evil. I told her to go on the date and I would just dematerialize her and she TURNED EVIL AND KILLED THE SCHOOL'S HEADMASTER?? And then everyone thought I did it just because there was camera footage of a person who looks exactly like me killing the school headmaster!!!!!
So I got broken out of school jail for it. Then she killed my dad in order to hurt me and started acquiring a bunch of other magical emeralds that made her all powerful and immortal, and then she DESTROYED THE UNIVERSE. The entire universe. And killed every single person in it, including ALL my friends and family. Well, I couldn't kill her because now she's all powerful and immortal. SO I was like oh geez I gotta act and I used the power of the emeralds to trap her in an alternate universe with a bunch of fake memories. She killed my dad and she made herself hotter than me so I gave her fake memories of having a dad who died and made her look really plain looking and stuff. I figure, if I can't kill her, I gotta trap her. So I put both of us in an alternate universe version of our school with alternate universe versions of my friends and tried to act like a normal student and stuff. I had to kill another student and replace him so that I could also be at the school and no one would notice me, and I started taking potions to look like him so that no one would catch on that I also wasn't from this universe. A teacher at the school found out I wasn't who I was, and I had to kill him to keep up the ruse, but it was super necessary to stop my evil clone.
Well... my clone woke up and figured out who she was and that the name and face and memories I gave her were fake. She kept pretending to be an average plain nobody because she didn't know who I was yet. Then a bunch of stuff happened with souls, and my original friends woke up in the bodies of their alternate universe selves. You know, my friends who my clone KILLED!!!! And she started bonding with them and pretending to be their friend and talking about how she was having a "redemption arc"! So I explained everything to them! I was like hey, that person you think is your friend is actually my EVIL BITCH CLONE who DESTROYED THE UNIVERSE and KILLED ALL OF YOU. And they were all like, "sorry, but she's our friend now." WTF!!!!!!
Anyway, we had a swordfight, left the school, and she went off to do adventures with them, and I've been training to kill my evil clone for the last year or so, because she's my evil clone. She's like objectively evil. She killed my dad. She DESTROYED THE UNIVERSE. But now she's all like, ohhh I'm so sorry I did all of that, that was really messed up of me, I had just been created and I didn't know right from wrong and I was scared you were going to dematerialize me, I'm better now, I'm going to leave you alone, please stop following me around and trying to kill me, I don't think about you at all, etc etc. AKA she is MANIPULATING MY FRIENDS after STEALING THEM from me. I just need to kill her. When I kill her, she won't be able to hurt anyone ever again. And then my friends will realize she was manipulating them. Anyway, I did a monologue at my evil clone about all of this and she told me I was an asshole and to leave her alone. Obviously I'm in the right here, but I thought I'd ask anyway, AITA?
The Secrets and Origins of the Battle Balls from Supernoobs is Finally Solved (And It's Dark, I Am Not Joking You Guys)
Warning: This show contains spoilers ahead and this theory can be disturbing to some viewers who watched the show.
When I was kid, I watched the trailer of the show and I was so excited, stop imagining that it's going to be epic. Until I was extremely disappointed and sad because how ABSOLUTELY irritating the humor and jokes are, that overshadows the balance of epic fries, harrowing emotional sequence, appearance of dark tones, deep down lores, adventures of character arcs, lively world-building, evolution of power systems, etc.
Until I noticed and realize that every scenes from every Supernoobs seasons that went entering my brain so entirely (well, in an autistic way, sorry about that. I am secretly an autistic person who easily understands the style of writing, exaggeration of arts, etc. but I am somewhat not good at math. Sorry). That TOTALLY realize how EXCESSIVELY DARK using their battle balls are. That's why Scott Fellows DON'T want to make epic, action, and emotional.
When I watched the episode 2 of "Noobs Strikes Back" from Season 1, the scene where Zen warns Tyler, Kevin, Shope, and Roach about putting back their Battle Ball towards them, they will be perish and shrivel like a fruit. So which totally means, if they lose their Battle Ball whenever it was destroyed when it's in/out of the chest: They WILL actually DIE so fast plus no one will heal them when the Battle Ball is destroyed that will ULTIMATELY damaged their spirits. If the Battle Ball is cracked they will make you feel severely sick and have a terrible shape (aka coma) even the healers and doctors barely have healed them.
The other moment when I watched the episode 35 of "Grandma Noob" from Season 2, that Mem told them that it was not easy to remove her Green Battle Ball when accidentally mistook it as her brooch. Placing Battle Balls who already have their owners into a one of your family members who look identically to them, the combination of the essential spirit and DNA will invade their nervous system and their souls. It will be VERY dangerous and life-threatening to some people who have Battles Balls placing on their chest. Kinda reminds of Tony Stark from Iron Man to see how deadly robotic circle of his chest are.
In my solution, Battle Balls is literally a DNA mutant that combines the spirits of the dead aliens from the ancient possessing through your body to alternating their life resources.
The Coda
Tumblr media
So, to summarise all these flashbacks serve numerous purposes...
Enable the audience to explain some of Sophie’s traumatic/learned behaviours. These include:
Her panic attacks e.g. @ My Cottage
Smothering her laughter/emotions with her hand
Why she doesn’t smile fully…
Where Sophie’s scars come from.
Audience become aware of negative/traumatic messaging embedded in Sophie.
“You make everyone miserable”-> AKA you destroy everything.
Constant need to be ‘silent’.
“You are the bastard child of a whore”-> undeserving of love and a lack of belonging.
Being undesirable-> everyone stepping away
“Remember this carefully, Sophie. In this world, bastards of noblemen and servants do not get dreams or a happily ever after. They get what they deserve—nothing.”
This in turn will help audiences empathise with Sophie about why she is so closed off, contribute to Sophie’s internal arc, and explain why she rejects Benedict’s proposal during my version of the sofa scene:
class difference + lack of feeling worthy of love=rejection.
But there is another, sweeter reason for establishing these traumatic messages/behaviours in Sophie... and that is to show how Benedict actively counters these.
Benedict always stepping towards Sophie.
“You make everyone miserable…”
Sophie’s absence makes Benedict miserable while her presence makes him shine. So much so that his family see a transformation of him back to the laid-back, joyful manner of before.
“You must be silent…”
Benedict saying in the kitchen of My Cottage “You never have to be silent, not on my account, never with me.”
Benedict’s words when he talked to Anthony: “I just want to hold her hand…I just want to listen to her voice. She is so wise and intriguing and inspiring...”
Benedict constantly removing Sophie’s hand from her mouth when she tries to smother a giggle, laugh or sob. (e.g. Swing scene)
 Benedict delighting in her reading poetry to him while sick and talking with her at My Cottage.
You are the bastard child of a whore”/ Feeling unworthy of love.
Benedict never addressing her as a ‘bastard’ but always as ‘illegitimate’ or ‘by-blow’.
Benedict embracing her when she reveals the parts of her past so many have stepped away from. As he says in my version of the Sofa scene:
You are Sophie. You are a woman who is kind and compassionate even after a life of hardship that would bow or break even the strongest of men. You are a woman who stands by her convictions no matter how many people try and sway you, no matter how many lashes you endure or even if the other road is easier. You, Sophie Beckett, are brilliant, in mind, heart and soul. I am inspired by you; I am humbled by you, and I am honoured to be in your presence and awed by every facet of your being. That is who you are, Sophie.” His voice rasps slightly, as if he is on the edge of speechlessness. “That is who you are, Sophie.”
Benedict running into a prison, Bendict willing to get into conflict with his family and Benedict willing to give up everything because none of it is worth as much as her.
Her physical scars
In their love scenes, Benedict tenderly kissing over the scar on her neck and whispering:
“Your scars are beautiful because they are markings that you survived. Testaments to the strength you had to pull yourself through the burning trials of life and emerge with your heart blazing. That is why I call them beautiful.”
I’ve said before that the main people who ‘aid’ Sophie in the season should be women for Sophie’s plot is a great way to tell the story of how women together can enact change.
Meanwhile, Benedict will help Sophie emotionally. He will show her that he loves Sophie for who she is. He will show her that she is worth of love, and help her emotionally heal from her trauma. And these little moments, in contrast to the flashbacks, can show the audience how well the two suit.
How these two are perfect for each other. And if they manage this well...
Did something cause pimp King Kay's corruption arc or was he just built like that (a shithead) and hid it well? Also, what's Fent and Ghostie Dean's relationship *insert innocent angel meme*
GIGGLING AND KICKING MY FEET AISHDHSSJ I LOVE YOU DUDE AAA
okay okay okay so!!!!!!
Pimp Kay wasn’t always a little shit! once upon a time he was a kind lil rascal with a knack for showbizz, however when Dean died Kay was taken in by his mother the queen Zelus. Having seen how fragile her sons were and how quickly Kay tried to fight the guard who killed Dean, she decided to train him. You see Zelus had discovered old texts that told off ancient and powerful magic- and what better test subject than her heir. With dark magic Kay would be an unstoppable ruler and the perfect threat against those who dared to stand against her rule.
She had fent act as an assistant and helper to Kay, a) as a way to help train fent to be a valuable asset, and b) to help keep Kay in line and develop the social skills required to be king. And that’s how things were for a while. However Zelus didn’t realise that dark magic corrupted its user. (lemme just drop my notes on dark magic rq)
-very taboo was used a lot in the past before people began to understand the effects of it
-angels are more susceptible to the effects of dark magic due to being made completely of light
-when used the caster will begin to be corrupted by the magic
-when the caster uses the magic, the corruption will spread, however acts such as killing will heightens the effects
-past a certain point the corruption will continue on its own, without any magic usage to provoke it
-the corruption is the destruction of the casters own magic to feed the dark magic, this is why their will be dark gradients from areas of high magic usage (arms, face etc), these gradients are the caster’s body breaking down as all creatures are made from magic
-once fully corrupted the caster will cease to exist their entire being fuelling the dark magic/dark magic god
-if the caster loses their magic or their magic is separated from them (some people have the ability to block magic etc) then the effects will reverse as their soul is able to rebuild its magical stores, healing the body.
-dark magic like really messes with ur head because it’s literally controlling you as it destroys ur mind to feed itself like dude ur gonna go insane because ur mind is like half destroyed
-anyone who is hit by a dark magic attack may be susceptible to its affects (get infected punks)
-dark magic had all but been forgotten when zelus (jeez she’s just ruining everything huh) digs it up to test on her kid cuz she wants a warrior heir (big fuckywucky)
-anyone killed by dark magic cannot go to the afterlife as their soul is consumed by the magic
But yeah so Zelus didn’t realised that Kay was getting fucked up by the magic, it was relatively minor up until he murdered her and then he started acting really whack and Fent started getting all sus of the dude.
And that’s around the time Kay framed the angel guard who killed Dean for Zelus’ death starting a war against angels but yk. But it slowly became a self perpetuating cycle, Kay did bad stuff because of the dark magic, the dark magic got stronger, kay did more bad stuff, the dark magic got stronger. Yeah it was fucked up.
ANWAYS ONTO MY OTHER BOYS!
So i’m not entirely sure about the dynamic between Gohstie dean and fent (cuz i haven’t really thought about ghostie dean in a while i can’t lie dude).
Their personalities are like, Dean is quite curious and a lil bit awkward as he’s been trapped in the spirit world for like the past 5-10(+?) years (i haven’t decided how long he’s gonna be dead yet (prolly closer to 5)) and so doesn’t understand mortal customs and stuff. Whilst fent is quite moral and well intentioned. So it’s probably gonna be the pair of them sharing a brain cell. I’m thinking it will be a lot of dean chirping in with random questions about the world (aka my excuse to infodump in my story and it be relevant) and fent telling dean cool stories from his life or the world. Maybe a little bit of Dean offering really dodgy suggestions to the problems they encounter, because his view of the world is kinda whack in places. Hes normal but occasionally he’ll come out with the most whack sentence you’ve ever heard.
The group: is looking for someone
Nobody:
Not a soul:
Dean: we should ask The Candle Man for help!
Fent: the whAT 😟
All of it makes sense to Dean, because as a spirit everyone knows about The Candle Man (aka Wick God of Souls) however he is mostly unknown to the mortal world, and even to those who know of him, he’s not called ‘the candle man’. Basically there’s a lot of that going on.
Also i think Dean spends a lot of time just sprawled over Fent as a ghost. Like what do you mean he can’t curl around Fent’s shoulders like a lil creachure??? My lil touch starved ghost boy teehee
anyways thank you for reminding me to post pimp kay here
also also also bonus lil head canons for post ghost Dean
-will walk into walls or get startled when he bumps into things cuz he forgets he’s like physically in places now
-he doesn’t know how to facial expression (being a ghost is weird and a lot of things function completely differently)
-occasionally he’ll just forget that he’s supposed to walk becuase he’s so used to being able to just will himself to move and it works yk
-textures completely freak him out sometimes (FYM THE GROUND FEELS DIFFERENT IN DIFFERENT PLACES???) he also finds wearing a variety of clothes strange (wdym you don’t just have one outfit that you just wear yk???)
-occasionally he’ll just stand and stare at people cuz he forgets people can see him now (my bro is a people watcher through and through)
“Doc… Doctor Forrester?” Joel stammered, “What’s going on?”.
The man looked Joel up and down, as if admiring his current state. “You lasted longer than we anticipated,” he said. His voice was flat and monotone, like something had ripped his evil soul out of him. Now, he just sounded like any other scientist.
Joel was disheartened, “We? Who’s we?”.
The other scientists approached Joel with tweezers and brooms to clean all the glass off of him. They didn’t give him any bandages though, so his hands and head still bled slightly. The scientists then returned to Doctor Forrester like ducklings, standing in an arc behind him.
“You are an oddity Mr. Robinson,” Dr. Forrester explained, “You are the product of a multi-year study on the human psyche. I’d congratulate you… if you hadn’t destroyed our test area.”.
Dr. Forrester ushered Joel to see where he had emerged from. A massive, now broken, glass wall stood surrounded by what looked like a movie set of the Satellite of Love. It has the theater, bridge, and every other room separated by little glass hallways. It faintly reminded Joel of a hamster habitat or one of those McDonald’s Play Places.
“Nevertheless, you lasted nearly eight years in total solitary confinement with only puppets as your friends,” Doctor Forrester beamed with pride as he said this. He held Joel by the shoulder in a side hug of sorts.
post garnok montana 👀 what is that like for her 👀 -dinosaurvalley
HELLO HI JOSEPH MY GUY
Ok, so, I'm taking this as only the immediate post garnok time up to like 2 years later bc else it would be so much lmao (so this covers only the post garnok and traveling Jorvik arc since both happens in the span of 3/4 years of one another)
After the squid is properly sealed again so he doesn't fucking destroy the whole island (he's just sealed. He can't be destroyed. In my version Aideen and Garnok are like ying and yang. You can't have one without the other.) the Soul Riders can return to their normal life.
Which is a pretty hard thing to do if you don't know what your normal life looks like. After coming back to Jorvik Montana immediately got involved in magic shit and saving the world and dealing with her parents death which meant she never even had the chance to form some sort of new, every day lifestyle. And she tries, she tries so hard to cope with this normalcy of not spending evening and nights taking out Dark Core machines or dealing with pandoric rifts. So she tries. She helps out at the stables, does work at the forge and helps out with the deliveries, keeps learning new spells and studying magic.
But something is missing. Despite everything she still feels like she has something to do, that there are still things she needs to finish. There's this hollow feeling in her chest that haunts her when she's alone, when it's night and she's laying alone in her bed and no matter what she does it won't leave.
And Justin knows something is wrong. She's thinner than before, she's not dyeing her hair as regularly, she's stoped asking him to spend the night with her, Onyx tells him that she doesn't talk much when the both of them are going on trail rides. Every time he tries to talk to her she changes the subject or says she doesn't want to talk. This goes on for months until one day Justin finally blows up at her and the two of them have the worst fight they've ever had.
Only once Montana breaks down and admits she doesn't know what to do, that she feels lost and without purpose and with no idea of what to do next, of how to fix herself do both of them sit down and talk it out. Justin gets them tea and a box of tissues for Montana and they spend a few hours sitting on her bed, talking about what possibilities there are for her.
In the end they arrive at the conclusion that it would be good for her to travel around Jorvik for a while. Make sure all the portals and stones are sealed, help with any rifts or magic chaos that just naturally occurs on Jorvik. Maybe even learn some new spells, try out how she could perhaps still use her magic. Possibly even find a cure for her corruption.
And it's not like she's leaving for years on end without coming back. She drops by every few months, makes sure she's there for birthdays and things like Christmas or big celebrations. While on the road there are enough people she knows where she can crash at their stables and if that's not an option she has a tent for bad weather and a hammock for warm summer nights. It's actually helping a lot with relearning who she herself as a person is. After 2 to 3 years of this she's figured out how to somewhat navigate from that point forward (aka. Taking over Conrad's Blacksmith once he retires and taking care of magic activities around Moorland, Silverglade and Fort Pinta. Plus still helping out at Moorland Stables and permanently moving back in. Justin and her technically took a break (does that work if you never really were officially together?) and had the whole "if you find someone else take that chance" talk but neither of them did so now they officially are a thing. Only took them abt 8 years to get there
(I change my mind. Justin and her stay an item. They accidentally adopt 3 kids. They don't have biological ones. Mayhaps they got married)
i know kamisato ayato is a seer of space tho i disagree with classpects being like astrology i think astrology is so popular bc people unknowingly recognize the 12 base classes in them aka Deep Personality Stuff anyway what do u think lumine is i know she and aether dont have the same classpect
Isn't the core of classpecting deep personality stuff? A hero title is simply another way to label what you are like in my opinion.
Anyways, I will be under the assumption that your Lumine in question is the Abyss Twin.
With that out of the way, lets talk about...
The Abyss Sibling: The Witch of Hope
Witch: Active Manipulation class
One who changes their aspect
Alternatively: One who manipulates others with their Aspect
Hope:
Abstract: Conviction, Imagination, Fantasy, Delusion, Actual Hope
Literal: Light, Wings, Feathers, Religion
Despite how very little we have on the Traveler's kin, it's enough to glean off what kind of person she is and how she reacts to the environment she's surrounded by.
Let's start with her aspect of Hope.
People who identify themselves as Hope-bound are known to be motivated by their beliefs and sense of righteousness.
Tumblr media
We know that the Traveler's Sibling is working with the Abyss in order to settle a score with Celestia, likely for what it has done to Khaenri'ah and its inhabitants.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Already does she show her belief that Khaenri'ah's punishment was unjustifiable and that going to war with the divine was the only way to avenge their people, seeking to destroy those under the Seven Archon's rule first.
After meeting the archons, her revenge plot sounds sinister. But since we don't what she's witnessed and experienced, there could be a side of that plan that could hold some validity. Even if the Traveler doesn't agree with it.
Tumblr media
The Hope-bound are also said to posses a vast imagination, using it to conjure up solutions to injustice and unfairness:
Tumblr media
The Abyss order has many creative plots that the Traveler's Sibling surely has helped scheme. One of them using the water dragon Osial and a corrupted statue in order to create a mechanized god to fight Celestia.
Tumblr media
The imagery is nothing short of gruesome, more so for a concept as light-hearted as Hope. But to assume that Hope is the aspect for goody-two-shoes, you would be sorely mistaken.
Tumblr media
Next there's her class, the Witch.
Witches, along with Heirs, are the magicians. They manipulate their aspect in ways that they think will befit them and their circumstances.
Witch of Life Feferi Peixies was able to bargain with cosmic horrors to create dreambubbles, a sort of afterlife for anyone in any timeline who have perished. Even after either one's waking, dreaming, or both selves are dead, the person can still keep on living as a ghost within those bubbles. Which, in essence, keeps said person alive essentially forever. It was also used to communicate with souls from far away in their sleep.
Tumblr media
Then there is Witch of Time Damara Megido who. instead of using her powesr to win SBURB, used her abilities of time-traveling to sabotage her teammates and lead their session into its doom.
Tumblr media
In addition to this, a Witch's arc starts with the Witch's surrounding engulfed by their aspect to the point where it influences them. This influence usually has an extension that takes form of what we'll call the Witch's Familiar.
Feferi is the troll heiress of the Alternian empire and is determined to inherit it and change the lifestyle of its inhabitants for the better.
Since birth, Feferi was tasked in keeping her lusus Gl’bolyb pacified and hushed, lest she lets out the Vast Glub and erradicates all life in not just her home planet Alternia, but in the whole universe.
Tumblr media
Look at thatt mother-daughter bonding!
Witch of Space Jade Harley spent most of her life isolated from civilization and was raised by her Best Friend/Best Dog Bequerel.
Bequerel is the First Guardian of Earth and possesses an array of cool powers, his most prominent one being able to bend the fabric of space to his will. A power that will be passed onto Jade once she goes Dogtier.
Tumblr media
What does this tell us about the Abyss Sibling?
The sibling is considered royalty by the Abyss Order as well as a leader. As one of the few people who not only side with Khaenri'ah, but is also unaffected by curse afflicted onto them by Celestia, she stands as one of the ancient civilization's last hopes.
She has the conviction of their salvation within the palm of her hand and that same conviction engulfs her. Their dreams turn into her's, and now she mans them like a ship, with the Abyss Sibling as its captain.
Her virtuous campaign against Celestia though, may only be a delusion that not only harms innocents, but the people she is trying to help as well.
A crack of her well-intentioned crusade could be seen in the Requiem of the Echoing Depths quest, where her attempt to ease the suffering of the hilichurls only lead to them suffering more pain.
Tumblr media
Although the Abyss Sibling is the pinnacle of the Kharnri’aian's salvation, their hopes aren’t the only ones that’s she’s manipulating:
Tumblr media
The main character of the game, The Traveler, has only started his journey in hopes of figuring out what happened to his sibling.
Time and time again does she elude the Traveler's eyes, keeping just out of sight. The one time they do meet face to face though, she tells him this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the Traveler, there is perpetual hope in him that they'll be together again, and the Abyss Sibling turns that hope into a tether; a motivator for him to complete his journey and to understand the meaning of Teyvat's existence.
Tumblr media
Perhaps she is manipulating her own hope as well, stuck so far down in her delusion that Kharnri’ah could be saved that she hopes once the Traveler has finished his journey, he comes to the same conclusion as her and they could once again stand against the Heavenly Principles together.
M, N, S, T, V, and I
M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?
I feel like this question is a tad vague. But I'm taking this as if I have any ideas on the back burner and the answer to that is yes. I have some ideas for Caryl fics (mostly because TWD S11 was a bummer). lol Sorry I don't have that many Ned x Cat ideas at the moment that don't include finishing my unfinished fics.
N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?
DKNC (@dknc3) would work wonders with any of my Ned x Cat fics. (if you haven't read her work on Ao3, please do, she's gifted.)
S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?
Unlikely alliances that end up being soulmates. Falling in love AFTER marriage. Healthy partnerships aka deep love, friendship, mutual respect and trust. Partners who become best friends over time. AKA
Tumblr media Tumblr media
S L O W B U R N. Two damaged souls helping each other heal. Soulmates who hover in the space between friends to romantic partners. Soulmates who are best friends. Men who are pathetically in love with their women and would fight the world for them. Women lifting up and loving the heck outta men who believe they're unloveable. Soulmates who are literally married and everyone can see it but them AKA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I added two Caryl gifs because they own my heart and I literally can't hide it)
And if its not clear: MIDDLE AGED ROMANCES. Bring em to me. We need to normalize finding love after 40.
T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?
This is a loaded question haha.
I don't and will never support tropes/ships with:
Middle aged characters shipped with barely legal or underage characters (I'm starting with this because its a HARD NO for me. I won't name any but there are a few in particular that make my stomach roil.)
Abusive foundations (romaticizing emotional & physical abuse, abuse of power, status, manipulation, etc.)
Incest (With *some* shows incest is literally the norm so I get why some people are for them. But it's just not for me.)
Power imbalance (aka forced marriage, stockholm syndrome type scenarios)
SOME enemies to lovers or friends tropes (trying to get someone to like or love a character that destroyed their life. I like a good redemption arc but I also think some things shouldn't be forgiven.)
V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose? Oooh IDK. I wish some unfinished fics were finished but I don't think I'd do a better job of writing them than the people who conceived them. I would offer to edit them though if I had the time and space.
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
When people resolve sexual tension beautifully, that's always great to read/write/watch. I love reading/writing/watching anything that show unexplored parts of characters and relationships. For example:
Ned-I'm-stoic-Stark being an awkward flirt with Catelyn but somehow being endearing anyway.
Daryl-don't-touch-me-I'll-cut-you-Dixon finding ridiculous excuses just to touch Carol or be chivalrous for her because he craves her like oxygen.
Robert-I'm-proper-Crawley continuously asking Cora if she was satisfied post sexy times even though she's said yes 50 times already (innuendo intended).
Those are just some examples.
Hope this answer your asks, anon! I realize that this may be an important ask to follow if you want to know what my blog will feature and absolutely will not feature haha!
OKAY. so. this is gonna be long lol
Character: Dorian, necromancer wizard/twilight cleric, follower of Tusmjir (goddess of balance)
Revenant
"Whither you, whither you walk my love / (I cannot go there) / I can only see two roads ahead / One brings life / and the other will bring me death / And though I don't know which to tread / I'll walk with you in this life or the next" and "What gives voice to my laments / A revenant of discontent" and "Yet for all my own deceit / I still know not the face I seek" it's just so fitting for Dorian, who made a choice to go back in time and undo using Necromancy in front of his boyfriend, which then resulted in his boyfriend dying in front of him in the "corrected" timeline-- and along with a few other pertinent things around the same time, it leads him down a path where he thinks that using Necromancy is the only way to keep the people he loves safe he also finds out Cassidy's soul is taken by the BBEG (the god of death) and corrupted and turned into the revenant general of the BBEG's armies, and he's so desperate to free Cassidy that he allies with the BBEG to (a) learn more necromancy to get more powerful to keep his loved ones safe, and (b) find a way to free Cassidy's soul as the game progressed, Dorian also became a cleric (before he defected to the BBEG's side) and the whole "two roads, one brings life, one brings death" thing is So Important because Dorian has to make a choice-- does he go for Wish and try to get Cassidy back like that (aka going wizard 17/cleric 3), or does he place his faith in his friends and his goddess (wizard 10/cleric 10) and get Cassidy back through Divine Intervention; basically, if he chooses the Wish route, he destroys his own soul, so the only way for him and Cassidy to have their happy ending is for him to turn back from the call of power also, while he was working for the BBEG, he was doing some heinous stuff and also lying to his loved ones about it, and the reveal was so good (more on that below)
Lay of the Ashes
"You, who isolates yourself within despair / reflecting only poisoned roots and gnarled branches twisting / Allowing vines to wrap your mind and lay it bare / With all your hope abandoned to this fiction you are living / You, who only sees a barren path ahead" and "Could the lies that you believe / be a fear of the unknown / If you don't know who you are / then who is it you hate / All the lies that swallow you whole / Don't even know your name" again, going back to the whole evil arc vs. redemption arc-- Dorian sees everyone else in his group "getting their happy ending" and having connections with others, and he isolates himself in his grief and guilt, creating this sort of tunnelvision and false belief that there is only this one path left before him (pursuing necromancy without regard for the consequences) he tells himself that the ends justify the means-- until he finds out the BBEG is going to kill his mentor/father-figure, which is when he defects back to the good guys (he's actually too late to save Sorrice, and casts his first Revivify to get him back, after which he promptly confesses everything)
Idistaviso
"My brother, what have you done? / You've chosen gold over blood" and "Only now do I see / You are a stranger to me" and "And I will live with the works of my hands / I am well aware of all that I've done and all that I am / I will live with the choices that I've made / Can you say the same / Or will you carry your rеgrets 'til the end of your days?" and "Every poison word they spoke of me / You listened to so eagerly / What is this hate you have for me?" so Dorian's group, the Cardinal Locks, was originally comprised of Kis (bard/rogue/bloodhunter), Kaide (barbarian), and Elijah (cleric) Dorian told everyone he was an evocation wizard, and once Dorian started using necromancy openly, Elijah (cleric to Lathander) was vocally in opposition now, as mentioned, Dorian used necromancy in front of all of them (including Cassidy, a paladin), and was arrested (by Cassidy) and was sentenced to be banished from the continent, at which point he was offered a chance to (tricked into) go back in time and change what happened-- which resulted in Cassidy dying HOWEVER, that meant that only Dorian knew of the changed timeline, and everyone else "forgot" eventually Dorian used necromancy again and the same objections were raised-- except this time, Dorian saved Elijah's boyfriend by casting Gentle Repose on him during a fight and then having the necessary 300g diamond for the Revivify, which Elijah (the cleric!) did not have there were a lot of harsh words said between the two, but essentially, Dorian called out Elijah for not carrying the necessary components for spells only he could cast as a cleric, and effectively blamed Elijah for Cassidy's death since he didn't have a diamond to Revivify Cassidy either (it wouldn't have worked, but the characters didn't know that) shortly thereafter, Elijah and his boyfriend absconded in the middle of the night, leaving the Locks without a (divine) healer and Dorian had to use Life Transference for a while until he became a cleric so this song is about how Elijah and Dorian once considered each other brothers, and their falling out, and how Dorian acknowledges the terrible things he's done but Elijah has never shown remorse for abandoning them and leaving them without a healer
Your Dorian is SO interesting to me, truly a man of many huge 'what if' moments. But also ??? was Revenent written for him bc?? It's literally exactly what you described of him. Like that is a wildly specific song that matches the events that influence everything in his life following losing Cassidy
A character who will go to any lengths to justify their actions, while losing their sense of self, is soooo juicy because like.. If you can't hold conviction in your own actions, what else can you trust or believe in? And yet in the back of their mind, one little weakness or memory that could cause all of that to come crashing down? There's always an Achilles heel and I LOVE that.
Idistaviso !! I really like this one and I added it to my Penhurst playlist, as a lament from his (dead) older brother. A running theme of Love making or breaking someone, how much you're willing to bend your code or put on the line, what one would do to save that Love... AGH!
Your song choices and the explanations/motivations are Spot. On. I understand exactly why you've chosen them. All of the little snippets you've told me about your characters and sessions are so richly crafted, it's a joy to get to know them as an extension of you ❤️
How could I have missed traffic lights in DGM?!?!
So I’m re-reading chapters for millionth time and this time I start from Night 184 right in the flashback/dream-sequence. So this time I’m paying attention to the details happening in the background and it easier to try to pay more attention since seeing a Modern Day Metropolis in the flashback about “the world ending” in 234 has really brought forth to the center this idea of another world that existed and ended, that has a connection to the Noah and where their “memories” come from (Possibly different reincarnations that tried to stop that world from ending?).
ANYWAYS I remember the the first time I was reading this just being so shocked about Allen reacting to his innocence, the implications of that, and Mana popping out of nowhere with the whole name thing that was going on....
BUT STILL HOW COULD I HAVE NOT NOTICED FREAKING TRAFFIC LIGHTS?!!!?! THEY ARE RIGHT THERE IN MY FACE!
Tumblr media
So yeah the “world that ended” was definitely the modern day which is so bizarre considering the world of DGM up this point had late 19th century to early 20th century vibes. And all of a sudden traffic lights?!!!!
Also lends itself more to the idea the original Allen was probably a scientist. Which, come on,  when have scientist not been involved in this fucked up story especially the Alma Karma arc which proved that even now they’ve tried to mess with memories and implanting brains in other bodies (very Noah-like in fact). In Night 221,  Nea even talks about a concept a friend ( Older!Allen) of his talked about that is the source of all life aka DNA.
Tumblr media
And with the crazy stuff happening in the story it would be safe to assume this “other world” probably was crazy advanced because Allen was able to transfer all of Nea’s memories inside of himself. And it probably ended as result to a War between the Noah and the Heart (Innocence).
BUT it also depends on when the split happened to the Earl that resulted in Nea and Mana. Did it occur after the world ended or before. Because if it happened after then we still don’t know anything about that world other than it looks like the modern world and its technology is probably similar hence the traffic lights.
Okay so I’m going to to go back to theory time about what’s going on plot wise
The scary thing is Road seemed pretty torn up about that world coming to an end.
So what if the Noah were trying to defend that world from the “Heart”. Especially considering Innocence has been described and shown to act like a parasite that takes away free will from its apostles. But the Millennium Earl is able to destroy something to atoms “eating their very soul” which seems like a recipe for a disaster like the world ending.
On the other hand we have Apocryphos  which behaves similarly in a eerie way even though its on the side of Innocence which is “supposed” to be the “good” side.
Could it be possible there is a contradiction and the “Heart” is in fact the Earl?? Not to mention the confusing role the 14th has played in all of this.
Cross even goes as far as to say that the Noah used the Earl because they feared the Pillar which Road kind of implies has some connection to the Earl/ is maybe the Earl? But Cross mentions revenge on the Pillar which is similar to the language the Noah have been using when describing their crusade against the innocence and the “Heart”. And if revenge is the goal doesn’t this imply its for the world that got destroyed by the Pillar that is somehow connected to the Earl who the Noah contradictorily want to protect? Or is possible the Earl just has the Potential to become one and the Heart is what caused the first Pillar that ended the first world 7 Millenia ago.
And it’s interesting that it’s specifically shown the Noah Scars are how the Pillar looks like...
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!?!
but anyways
TRAFFIC LIGHTS  IN D.GRAYMAN  PEOPLE    !!!!!
Pomegranate's Redemption: A Cookie Run: Kingdom Analysis and Theory
Theory #1
Written on 6/5/22
So
SPOILERS if you haven't seen ch 14 by now, but Dark Choco has officially left the COD (Cookies Of Darkness). Now, Dark Choco got his redemption arc; at least, the beginning of it. This leaves our other three main members: Pomegranate, Licorice, and Poison Mushroom Cookie. How will they get their redemption arcs - will they ever?
Dark Choco leaves his sword, and in turn frees his pained soul. He will heal, in time. I speculate he will meet and travel with Milk Cookie and Purple Yam Cookie, likely under a disguise.
Pomegranate, however, is obviously a little trickier when it comes to redemption and such. She holds a steadfast, immovable loyalty to Dark Enchantress, her master. It may be implied that she feels an obsessive sort of twisted romantic feeling towards her, but this isn't particularly canon nor important here - the important thing is her loyalty. Could Pomegranate possibly be swayed from this? I am a little on the fence about this one, and it ties into my theories surrounding Dark Enchantress' endgame fate; will she be destroyed, the last remnant of White Lily bidding her friends a final goodbye, or will White Lily finally return? (I personally believe the Devs will go with the latter, but we will simply have to see). Maybe it will be neither, like I said, we'll have to see.
It's possible Pomegranate could get her redemption arc at the end - will seeing her former master felled - and possibly returned to her former self - be enough to break her resolve? I don't think it'll be as easy as just this. Pomegranate refuses to let her loyalty sway, to an obsessive degree. Should this theory come true, she'd definitely be against it, calling it an illusion or trick - a lie. She may even attack the newly returned White Lily in the process. Or maybe, she'd be lost, White Lily apologizing for everything in a desperate, horrified manner. Amongst my theories surrounding Pomegranate's redemption, this one isn't really at the top of the list yet is still a thought. Either way, I don't think Pomegranate is going to be easy in any way. She'll have to fight for it herself.
My next theory is somewhat Millennial Tree/Wind Archer centric. In Cookie Run: Ovenbreak, Pomegranate curses the sacred grove in which Millennial and his City resides, corrupting the City's Guardian, Wind Archer Cookie. The fallen spirit becomes Night Raven, and is eventually cured by Churro via channeling the power of the Tree (aka Millennial Tree) - so we know that Millennial has the power to heal this corruption. I believe that Night Raven has a chance of making an appearance in CRK, in a future chapter. After all, we've seen the other members of the COD travel to different Kingdoms, being the resident villains of those chapters; Licorice and Poison Mushroom in Chapters 11 and 12, Dark Choco in Chapters 13 and 14. So, it would make sense for Pomegranate to get her own debut; after the events of Chapter 10 (the last time we've seen Dark Enchantress) we don't see Pomegranate until she shows up as a background villain in Chapters 13 and 14. Although she shows up, it's clear she's not the villain who the focus is on. So, her major role in corrupting Wind Archer in CROB could be a pathway for both the introduction of Wind Archer into CRK and a chance for her own villain chapter. Will our heroes travel across the sea to the Dessert Paradise (as it is located on an island furthest East on the CRK Map), meeting a city in ruins and in fear of a skilled, dark archer? Perhaps our heroes will have to travel to Millennial Tree, seeking help while having to stop Pomegranate in the process. It's possible Millennial will indeed be awaken by our heroes and succeed, healing his Guardian, City and perhaps Pomegranate in the process. Maybe she'd stay there, looking for a new path.
Or,
Maybe Pomegranate will never be redeemed; but I very highly doubt this. Hints of Pomegranate's redemption have been subtly hinted at throughout Cookie Run: Ovenbreak; she appears upon Sea Fairy's Relationship Chart: "One day, Pomegranate will learn to fight her own fate..." Now, this holds Tension, but Sea Fairy seems to know something about Pomegranate's future.
As for Licorice's redemption, I believe he'll finally get sick of Dark Enchantress abusing him, undermining the power he so craves, his inner pursuit of wanting to be enough and more. He may even help fight on the side of our heroes at some point. I have a feeling Poison Mushroom would follow in his footsteps, simply looking for friends and chaos.
Like I said, these are just theories and in the endgame could be completely wrong. They're just fun to make, if you read this far, many thanks for taking a few minutes to listen, take a cookie 🍪
“Dream SMP is the new Homestuck”- literally everyone old enough to remember Homestuck and is still in fandom communities.
Anyway, some explanations as to I chose the class I did under the cut
Purpled: Knight of Heart
“Those bound to the aspect of Heart are very concerned with their favorite subject: themselves. It wouldn't be a stretch to call them 'self-obsessed', but not necessarily in a negative way. They simply want to understand the one thing we all are stuck with for our entire lives, i.e. our own minds. Forging an identity is extremely important to the Heart-bound, and every decision and action goes toward building a coherent narrative of their own story.” (The Extended Zodiac) This sounds very Purpled when you consider he has always being alone, even when he wanted to make friends. He DEEPLY understands what he is good at and that has shaped and created his own narrative: he is an excellent PVP fighter, and nothing else. He is proud of that fact and doesn't hide it at all. Heart is essentially "soul"/what is inside of you, and he has found what is inside him and what makes him him.
As for the knight part “The Knight could be defined as one who serves [aspect] or one who serves through [aspect] for the betterment of others”. This combination of elements essentially creates a true knight "I offer myself for my own betterment and the betterment of others" with the "myself" part would be "fighter" because that how Purpled sees himself as.
Tommy: Page of Blood
I originally wanted to make him a Bard of Blood because “ Bards "allow destruction of [aspect]" or "invite destruction through [aspect]", and Blood is essentially connections and bonds, like family and friends, and we all know that Tommy always bring destruction of bonds by accident.
But in the end I chose Page of Blood because pages “provides others with [aspect]" or "creates [aspect]” because that is what Tommy does the best in the DSMP story: create connections and provide others with connections, whether is because people want to help him or because they hate him and those people are willing to help each other to stop Tommy. Tommy has always being able to create connections easily and the worst anyone could do was to isolate him, just look at the Exile Arc, he was nearly brought to suicide because he was all alone with the only people to connect with is the one person who hates connections, and Ghostbur (and Ranboo from time to time, specially after Tommy found Techno).
Also yes, I am dead set on giving Tommy the blood aspect because it’s a perfect title of him, all he has ever done was because of his connections and bonds with other, and all he has ever accomplish was thanks to his friends.
Tubbo: Mage of Time
Okay this one is a little weird, but hear me out.  Time could be translated to experiences, but more than anything, Time players are goal-focus, which is what Tubbo is really good at. Most people think he is positive, always looking for the best outcome, but that is not true. Yes he does this things, but not because as a person he wants to help people, it’s because he is given a task and he is going to full-fill it. He is goal oriented and his goals always tend to be something along the lines of “keep X thing safe” or “help X do X”. If you need something to get done, you call Tubbo, and that's what Tommy has always done, that's what a lot of L'Manberg people did, they rely on Tubbo because they believed in him to get shit done. Tubbo has always being a support player, in video game terms, but he has never being passive. He is always doing something, whether is for him, although most of the time for someone else.
Mage is because "Mage benefits themselves with knowledge pertaining to [aspect]" and "guides by setting an example using knowledge pertaining to [aspect]" AKA Tubbo is always learning from experience, something that doesn't seem to be common in fucking DSMP. Tubbo rarely commits the same mistake twice. He is always making decisions that will either keep the most people safe or avoid doing a past mistake, even if they are usually not the wisest decisions.
Ranboo: Sylph of Space
Honestly, Ranboo was very hard, I wanted to make him a rogue/sylph, or a space/hope player.
First of all, Sylph is defined as "Sylph is thought to be one who heals [aspect] or one who heals through [aspect] for others" and Space implies life and creation. So you will think “why give Ranboo the “heals life and creation”, but that’s not it, it’s more of “Ranboo heals through creation”. The most notorious thing about Ranboo is his willingness to help pretty much everyone, but specially Tommy and Tubbo through resources. Which is in part why I wanted to make him a rogue, he distributes stuff to other players, but he doesn’t steal from others, he will rather die than to steal from others, specially those close to him.
Aside from that he fits Space player’s personalities remarkably well “They are patient, masters of the art of 'wait-and-see', and are inclined to take things as they come. That isn't to say that they're pushovers or willing to let injustice lie-they just choose their battles wisely.” (The Extended Zodiac) Which we all know that Ranboo is extremely passive and doesn’t do much of anything and while he doesn’t really say no, he still is careful about going with this, such as The Butcher Army, he was part of it, but he never actively participated. While hope is way more active, it may stand for a lot of what Ranboo does, but a key factor of Hope players is that they are willing to destroy if it meant that THEIR vision of a better future flourish, which is nothing all like him. He hopes to see betterment, but he hates the idea of other people being forced into anything. If destruction happens he will just watch most of the time, which is more of a Space player thing to do.
