Best photo manipulation I've ever done. Using good old Photoshop CS5 (or maybe CS4, I don't remember now, but it was before content aware fill).
My original photo was taken on an overcast day. Lighting was dull. I was in Graphic Design at the time and we had learned some neat things with the Multiply filters and using them selectively. I had also been looking at Brian Froud's illustrations of fairies and took inspiration from how he made his water look like it was glowing. Took me hours to do and I don't even remember everything I did to it. I'd have to find the PSD file, which I might not even have access to since it was on an external hard drive that went kind of wonky.
Anyway, now it looks like it's in dappled light under a heavy forest canopy. :)

Hello! I sent an ask a while ago but it never got answered so it might have gotten eaten. Is it okay to write a fic based on that one tag you left on somebody's post saying something like "spirit evan sits in Michael's lap as he's guarding so the animatronics freak out" ? Totally okay if you don't want it written but the idea is really cool so I was wondering.
I think I answered this, but it might not have notified you. I wasn't the only one on the rp, but my general opinion on it is do whatever you want forever. I don't have like. A copyright on the concept of ghosts bonding with their living relatives while robots lose their shit or anything like that

For those of you wondering about Les's mysterious younger sibling. It's Hed, he's the little brother.
They share a mom who was a rock troll. Les's dad is funk, and Hed's dad is rock, but he lived in Vibe City since very young so he's also basically mixed genre like his bro.
In the second pic he's singing/rapping Tastes Just Like Chicken by Scatterbrain. I feel like this is the kind of music he would make when younger.
and bonus: meet the nominees for the worst parents award

one thing i noticed (form personal experience and by observing other artists) is that the longer you draw and create, the more boring it gets to simply replicate references, especially when it comes to characers' fashion choices.
with bnha, i keep mine pretty simple and basic because teens ARE very trend-loyal, but mainly im just lazy lol, but when i AM motivated, i love to think about characters' personal style, what could influence them, but also more trivial things such as budget into account, which is why i love to draw Deku in basic tees or clothes provided by his school (while bakugo gets to wear ed hardy and shoto wears arcteryx). i also love to limit the items like its just more realistic to me when someone as ordinary as deku wears the same 5 crewnecks all the time
which brings me to my actual point, namely that the more frequently you draw, the more you learn to do research andto combine your findings into sth new rather than staying faithful to one reference, and i think that's what makes good art so good, being able to draw inspiratioin from all kinds of niches and creating something that feels very authentic and suspends the spectator's disbelief. sometimes i see art and i know exactly which fashion editorial or which kpop idol was referenced, and I'm not insinuating these are bad things i do that too (less frequently now but i sure did!), my point is it's kind of nice to see how ALL artist start out with rather derivative art but eventually move on to create more authentic art that is less about drawing beautiful and perfect people and more about trying to individualize them and that ALSO means giving them weird clothes, scars, asymmetric eyes, a receding hairline etc. like drawing the same beautiful character 200 times gets so boring and it's just more fun to try and make them a bit more human

It's actually wild that "derivative" is used as a disparaging term for often small artists, when... almost every artist is derivative to some extent - even the most grandiose of authors, or the person who snatches the world and throws it into his canvas.
Deriving your art from the world you live in is just the name of the game. Now, it is true that you can do this seamlessly, and you can also do it in such a way that is "messy," but I find it odd that people think of deriving your art from a source is inherently negative. We all take inspiration from somewhere. We are not an island.

i think ai art is real art but it’s the COMPUTER’S art, not the prompter’s. you wouldn’t request art from a human artist and then pretend you were the one who made the art just because you prompted it. THATS what ticks me off, is people calling themselves artists because they type words into a box to get an image they did not create. you are not the artist, the computer is.
you might as well have typed something into google, found someone else’s art of it, and then posted it and said it was your own art, simply because you typed the right words into google to find it.
