MORE TURTLE ANGST AU BECAUSE TURT ANGST

because i am very very obsessed with versions of the turtles meeting each other i couldn't stop thinking about the utter angst that would ensue but also the softness and slow found family vibes

specifically the 2012 turtles meeting versions of themselves where tang shen doesn't exist, where splinter's entire world is the turtles + april

the 2012 turtles meeting, say, the rise!tmnt, the bayverse!tmnt, or the mutant mayhem!tmnt?? versions of the turtles whose splinters never had a serious love interest prior to their creation, whose love and attention was always solely focused on them?

i'm thinking about bayverse!splinter, who sacrificed himself for his boys without a second thought, who finds out about another version of himself who has all but pushed the turtles away, the precious turtles who are the light of splinter's life

mm!splinter, who literally was desperate to keep his beloved sons protected from possible dangers, who faced his greatest fear in order to help his boys, seeing how broken, how tired they are.

rise!splinter, who, despite how it seems, can and will put his boys above everything else, who cannot even fathom the idea of not wanting his sons around, of falling back into his life before the boys, seeing these versions of his sons be so easily abandoned

just... the 2012!turtles meeting different versions of themselves, and meeting different versions of splinter, and being so fully prepared to recieve that same cold shoulder, only to be gathered into warm embraces, and have gentle, fatherly reassurances whispered to them.

and they're rightfully hesitant, they're unsure, because having your father immediately turn to his original family without a second thought leaves some lasting trauma and pain, but they can't resist falling into the different splinters' arms, pouring their hearts out as they cry and listen to advice that only splinter can give.

and somehow, idk maybe the donnies make dimensional transport watches bc that's definitely a thing that would happen, so visiting the different dimensions, and hanging out with the different versions of themselves + splinter becomes a weekly thing. and slowly, the 2012!tmnt bring the other versions to their own world, introduce them to xever, and chris, and april, and casey, and the mutanimals, and it slowly spirals into all of them getting together and hanging out.

and the 2012 boys slowly start to realize that they do have a family. it may not be the one they thought they had, but it's even better, and full of people who truly love them.

Story Prompt

Summary:

There is a difference between being trained as a weapon and being a weapon.

In his research, Baron Draxum found the mind to be weak, malleable and prone to breaking under pressure. His warriors weren't expendable; they had to be survivors.

So, he created a failsafe. A micro-chip which, in the event that the turtles were unable to cope with a hostile environment, would temporarily trigger their primal instincts, both human and animal, and enhance all their abilities to maximum efficiency for survival.

Fifteen years later, Mikey's portal malfunctions and sends the brothers - injured, exhausted and unconscious - straight into a 2012 Kraang warehouse. They wake up a little different.

Basically, the Rise turtles go supervillain in 2012's world and the 2012 gang have to stop them/snap them out of it. If they don't die first, that is.

Inspired by @nicoforlifetrue's Rotten Reflections, which after reading only fueled my need for more primal/supervillain Rise in TMNT crossover AUs. I'd write this myself but I DO NOT have the time. The best I can do is drop this for whoever wants to pick it up. ( @watercloud7 )

Currently Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the IDW comics. I also watched the mutant mayhem movie, it was cute.

I'm a total newb to TMNT though. I've literally never seen, read or consumed TMNT content before so this is all new to me.

Like Father Like Son by eternalglitch -oooh gosh Leo gets kidnapped on a pizzarun fort he family by Draxum and the scientist seems to have found one of Donnies inventions that will help him make Leo his perfect little soldier. (Cried hard absolutely destroyed me, it does get better)

Minor interference by bambiraptorx -it’s a fun little fic and the opposite of the above, where Leo and the fam takes up the offer of having Draxum train them, it’s only to absolutely to mess with him tho lol

Never better by less_depresso_more_expresso -amazing Raph fic where she’s raised by good father Draxum, her siblings however are unaware and the younger brothers desperately try to get their sister back from what they assume is an abusive father (it’s surprising lighthearted with triggerwarnings when needed and generally fun to read, feels in character too and so far 10/10)

Look I haven't watched much tmnt beyond 2012 yet but some of these posts about another era of turtles 'adopting' one of the 2012 turtles are so funny to me.

Like. the ‘adopted’ one, once they figured out why they were grabbed would be so offended on behalf of his bros

And, the other three 2012 boys would be inside the “adoptor’s” walls within 24 hours ready to literally murder whoever took their brother. (Im not saying that it would go well for them necessarily but they would pull up.)

The 2012 boys are like pack bonded feral cats. They hiss and smack eachother around occasionally but You can't seperate them cause they'll get sad. And also incredibly violent.

Literally obsessed with this early (2012) concept cover for Fire Emblem: Fates. There is so much going on here. It's so different from what we got. Kamui's armor here was partly scrapped and elements of it were re-used for the Nohr Noble class (especially the legwear), and my boy had longer ears. I am assuming the background depicted is Nohr, but the atmosphere is so gritty, so desolate. What are these spikes on the ground? There seems to be swords among them, making it look like an old battlefield. What's that statue in the back? Looks like a figure clad in robes sitting and holding something, maybe a book or a stone tablet of some kind. What is that upside down castle peaking out (coming down?) from the clouds? Is it Castle Gyges? Does it mean that Valla was originally supposed to be set in the sky (concept re-used as the Vallite floating islands/debris in the final game?), and that the characters would have had to find a way up to reach it, or would there have been a way to make it come down? It's also at the center of what looks like vines or roots arranged in a spiderweb, leading up to it, keeping it up or maybe pulling it down. Who knows what this all was supposed to be. This image makes me go feral. I want to sink my teeth into it.

Current Obsession: In general, definitely Sandman. I had wanted to read this comic series for years (since meeting my husband in 2012), but it's a very heavy series. Essentially, I wasn't in the right headspace to dive into Sandman's many existential themes, until 2020. So I listened to the Audiobooks and feel deeply into the lore and the characters and the amazing world building. Then the Netflix show came out last year and Dreamling became a Thing.... Yeah sorry, I'm stuck here.

On a smaller note... I'm way too currently obsessed with how much Hades is eating and pooping. He was in GI Stasis on Tuesday and we almost lost him. It's been... it's been rough over here. He's ok. Death is a mug's game for him apparently. But now husband and I are just obsessively checking his food intake and how much he's pooping while he recovers.

Current favourite song: The same one it's been for like the last decade. Dreams by Fleetwood Mac.

Currently reading: Dreamling fics (specifically You create me against your lips by @delta-pavonis) (GUYS... THIS FIC!) (no but seriously... it's SO GOOD, and the art by @teejaystumbles makes me feral).

I also bought this beautiful Jane Austen anthology, so I'm making my way through it (currently reading the intro/biography).

Currently watching: I got Disney+ recently and it's got BOTH Boy Meets World and Criminal Minds so... randomly watching eps from both shows.

The next shows I'm planning on watching are Silo and I wanna watch Nimona.

Current favorite character: Hob Gadling from Sandman. He's just SUCH a guy. I already liked him a whole lot from the comics, before Ferdinand Kingsley rocked on up all "yes, but what if you loved him MORE?"

Not only do I love Hob's zest for life and hunger for everything, I love what he represents. He's the Human Everyman in a story about eldritch beings and supernatural magical beings. Hob's just there loving life. On the other hand, he is also the representation on what it means to be human. He is NOT a good man, but he keeps trying to be. Like humanity, he keeps trying to be better and to learn. Like humanity, he strives to grow and experience. He serves as a grounding presence for the otherwordly beings we meet in The Sandman series.

I dunno... I just think he's pretty neat.

Is there any scenes in When The World Crumbles that might be considered controversial?

No but the one that caused a bit of flack was the one from chapter 7

The scene Im talking about is 2012 Raph threatening Rise Leo (like tackled him to the ground, pinned him and threatened to ram his sai through Leon's skull)

Now that naturally doesnt sound good out of context so here is a brief recap.

The 2012 turtles were just dropped into a brand new dimension, after getting their asses whooped by the Kraang for a week prior. They were out of food and medical supplies so Michelangelo volunteered to go get more.

When he didnt come back, his brothers split up to look for him.

Now at this point Michelangelo rescued the rise boys from Meat Sweats but broke his arm trying to steal their first aid kit and ran off trying to get back to his brothers. (Little did he know that there was a tracker in the first aid kit he stole so the Rise boys were tracking him) He ended up getting chased by Repo and fell from the top of a building being constructed (only saved from death by his backpack getting snagged on a beam) he lost his grappling hook and weapons, his turtle glider was broken and he had a broken arm. So yeah...

When Donatello and Raphael met back up they ended up getting chased by a feral Freddy Fazbear knock off (Albearto) that absolutely refused to die.

Unbeknownst to Raphael and Donatello, Leonardo had got captured by the Brownie Clan and was currently fighting for his life against Cassandra.

And when the two middle children meet the Rise Boys after getting chased by Albearto again Raphael asks Leon where Michelangelo is.

Instead of just saying that Michelangelo was at the construction site, he tried to play it cool, pretend to be laid back (to hide how freaked out he actually was) so he gave a vague non answer.

And well...Raphael just snapped.

Now lets consider all the factors at olay that led to this

-Hasn't slept in a week

-Barely ate

-Was covered in dozens of injuries that really needed som rest and treatment

-His youngest brother was missing and now had a BROKEN ARM

-Leonardo was also missing

-The Kraang are about to launch another full scale invasion

-And the cherry on top, this is only two months after Splinter's death. He barely had a chance to start grieving before the universe decided to fuck with him and his family again.

All because Leon didn't actually answer the question of where Michelangelo is. If he had just said "In the nearby Construction Site" then the whole mess could've been avoided. Leon just said the wrong thing at the worst possible time.

Honestly I think it would be understandable to snap considering the circumstances.

But apparently not everyone saw it that way.

Chapter Seven quickly became the chapter that had the most comments.

A lot of them were mad at Raphael for threatening Leon.

In fact there were several comments going OFF on Raphael (the most noteworthy ones were in spanish and I am too lazy to translate them right now but I distinctly remember one of them saying that Leonardo should smack Raphael with his cane and oof that rubbed me the wrong way)

Like that was not at all my intention. (And considering that this was around the time that "Raphael is abusive" was on the rise, actually I think this was right around when Unfamiliar Familiar was first published) I thought readers would at least sympathize with Raphael because he was just trying to find his little brother.

Which is exactly why Chapter 8 was written and published so quickly, and why majority of the chapter is from Raphael's pov. He is absolutely stressed out, he let his anger take control and now he and his younger brothers were screwed.

• Salamandrians are TALL. The average height of a full grown adult is between 6’0” and 7’0”, though they have been known to exceed this and reach heights of 8’0” or higher (there are some exceptions to the status quo *coughY’Gthgbacough*, but they are few and far between) ✨ they also vary in size, but the common denominator is that they are fit and muscular in some form or another ✨ like the 2012 series, the Salamandrians culture is focused heavily on maintaining a warrior’s honour both on and off the battlefield. They are also known for their deadly, highly advanced tech—from weapons to their hyperdrives ✨ they are an incredibly prideful race, and can be snobbish to other races, to the point of being elitist in some cases ✨

• Salamandrians go through 3 major stages of metamorphosis during their life ✨ The first stage, from birth to early childhood, they are essentially tadpoles and are fully aquatic. Unable to breathe above land, their lungs form externally on their head (like axolotls 🥰) and gradually shrink throughout the rest of their lifecycle as they grow lungs internally and disappear entirely when they reach maturity/adulthood ✨ Because they are aquatic, they are unable to verbally communicate and are born with telepathy, allowing them to communicate mentally with one another. When they first reach land—later in their youth cycle—young Salamandrians ‘absorb’ knowledge and skills (i.e. learning language and etiquette, etc) through pressing their foreheads with another being (usually their parent//adult guardian). Similarly to their external lungs, this ability fades as they mature, though it is not uncommon for juveniles/teens to retain some fraction of their telepathy. However, it usually requires great focus, and in some circumstance direct touch, to achieve even a little success. By the time they reach adulthood, Salamandrians lose all telepathic ability ✨

• As well as being fully aquatic and having telepathic ability, from birth young Salamandrians more FERAL then their adult counterparts with insatiable appetites and a monstrous state to match (they’re like little carnivorous gremlins 🥰). As they grow and mature, Salamandrians ‘mellow out’, shedding their ‘animalistic’ selves for more intelligent and controlled states of being—though their feral instincts never quite go away and will emerge whenever triggered/called upon in battle, though are generally more ‘controlled’ rather being full feral mode ✨Upon reaching childhood (i.e. roughly between the ages of 4-6yo) Salamandrians’ begin to enter their ‘amphibious’ stage. Their internal lungs have developed enough for them to spend short periods on land, though they still spend most of their time under water ✨ by the time they are teens/juveniles, Salamandrians will spend their time predominately on land/above water, but will need to either submerge themselves in water for a brief period of time per day (notably during sleep/rest) or install hydro filters in their suits to allow their skin to absorb moisture and prevent themselves from ‘drying out’ ✨ when they reach adulthood, Salamandrians don’t require constant access to water/moisture on a day-to-day basis, but is obviously a comfort/familiarity to them ✨

• like the 2012 series, the Salamandrians are at ‘war’ with the Triceratons for destroying their home world, Salamandria—though it is more of a one-sided conflict with the Salamandrians as the main aggressors, while the Triceratons don’t see them as much of a threat worthy enough for full intergalactic war despite being the initial instigators ✨the Triceratons invaded Salamandria a decade or so ago before the start of the series; overwhelmed the Salamandrians; drained it of its rarest resource, Empyrean; and as a final act of malice, destroyed it for being somewhat connected to the Krang—their enemy, and the driving force behind their terror across the stars ✨

• similar to the yōkai and mutants on earth, Salamandrians owe a lot of their genetic make up and the metamorphism/mutation in their lifecycle to Empyrean ; long ago, before it came known as Salamandria, the Salamandrian’s home planet was occupied by another intelligent species that was conquered and consumed by the Krang. Seeing nothing worthy left to enslave, the Krang left, leaving behind a canister/a supply of Empyrean that drained into the many connecting ponds and pools of water found across the planets surface. In the years that followed, the first Salamandrians arose from the watery depths to take their first steps on the surface ✨

• Empyrean is essential to the Salamandrian lifecycle, especially for their young. It is what allows them to not only exist in a general sense, but is needed to help them progress through their natural state of metamorphism (i.e. from tadpole to juvenile to adult). Without a steady supply or alternative, Salamandrians have experienced a devastating decline in their population growth and are rapidly heading towards extinction ✨ Y’Gythgba//Mona is part of what is known as the ‘last generation’; the last cluster of Salamandrians born on Salamandria and have survived into adolescence ✨

• after her battalion/research team’s space scouts (i.e. mini drone satellites) pick up Empyrean readings coming from Earth, Y’Gthgba/Mona’s life ambition to save her kin from extinction is revitalised and ignited, full-throttle ✨ Going against the general consensus to take the Empyrean by any means necessary (i.e. by force/conquering) and strict orders from her father and commanding General, General G’Throkka, Y’Gthgba steals the co-ordinates and hyper jump calculations to earth; erases them from the scouts’ memory banks to give her time to find an alternative to war/invasion and/or Empyrean substitute; takes her ship/amphibamech equipped with the latest and fastest in hyperjump tech (of her own design fyi, even if it is still in beta/testing and has a habit of miscalculating jump points between dimensions…) and crash lands on Earth, or more accurately Central Park, NYC, some months after the Krang were defeated/sealed in Dimension X/the prison dimension ✨ and voila! SHENANIGANS ENSUE!
