Hello! Like my description says, I'm Liam! I'm 16 and I found this website a while back and decided to finally make an account!!! So, this one is from Austria circa 1300, and that's about all I can tell you about it. (If that's disappointing to you, wait for the one I've got queued for tomorrow's Scorpion Sunday -- that's got a long rambling tangent about the manuscript it's in.) That text makes me wish I were better at paleography, because I cannot decipher it for the life of me.

It's certainly a striking creature, though. I like that it's doing the ouroboros thing with its tail, and it certainly looks pleased about it. I'm really not sure what its body covering is here -- I could plausibly read it as fur, feathers, scales, or exoskeleton. I think I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and call it an exoskeleton.

Odd features include the long ears -- this style of ear is very very common in medieval art but I am not aware of any real-world animal that actually has ears like that. They're like rabbit ears but wobbly and with an exaggeratedly-pointed tuft. Also the square nostril is unusual, as are the very human-like eyes and teeth. Quality long pointed tongue, too.

Anyhow, points:

Small Scuttling Beaſtie? ½, its lack of legs prevent it from a proper scuttle.

Pincers? ✘

Exoskeleton or Shell? ✓

Visible Stinger? ✘

Limbs? 0

As for vibes, I'm split on this guy. I find him cute as hell, but keep going back and forth on whether the very human-like grin as he bites his own tail is fun & playful or mildly uncanny. I like him, but I can see how people might find his face unsettling, so he gets a 4.5/5. (This is my first half-point in the Vibes category, but I just felt bad about giving him a plain 4 so I bumped it up.)

Bitching about financials and job things under the cut

My company announced like 2 months ago that our jobs are being eliminated, but it's like this nebulous thing because they're outsourcing and we need to transfer all our products, so my end date isn't until 3/31/2026. Like that's so far in the future and I'm gonna get severence (at end date, i will have worked there for 20 years literally over half my life) + a retention bonus, so I'll be ok for a little while after the fact i think i hope

But anyway i decided to immediately start cost-cutting 2 months ago:

•canceled subscriptions (canceled hulu, paramount+ (i have a plex server hookup anyway), canceled ubereats (and also stopped ordering from them altogether), canceled or went down a level on my minimal patreon subs)

•signed up for Shell's rewards system (it's literally free and you save at least 20cents/gallon every single time and sometimes more without having to spend any money you just click a button and boom extra 10cents if you fill up on a specific day.)

•haven't done *any* fun online shopping or regular store shopping for that matter

•severely cut down my fast food spending (i'm sorry taco bell ily), and as my friends are in similar financial woes, we've stopped ordering food every weekend and opted to make cheap dinners where we each bring some small component like 1 brings pasta 1 brings sauce 1 brings garlic bread

•this isn't a recent change, but i never go out anywhere for like drinks or to see local comedy shows like i used to frequently do. I'm a homebody who goes into the office twice a week and goes to my best friend's house on saturdays and just sits at home the rest of the time

Even with all that!! My debit card is at $26, my 1 credit card is $3 away from its limit, the other is $21 from its limit. I *thankfully* get my paycheck at midnight, but like... woof!

Last paycheck i was down to less than $100 the day before as well. It's so mind-boggling to me that it's this bad. Partially because I've had some unfortunately-timed plumbing issues and had to pay a pricey deductible (but glad i have the insurance obv cuz of how much the total cost would've been otherwise.) But also partially cuz i feel like shit is so much more fucking expensive than it's ever been!! And the last gallon of milk i bought and properly refrigerated went sour like a full week before its expiration date.

I have a decent job and make pretty good money (for now at least.) I have made several cost-cutting measures recently. I feel like I don't *do* anything. And it literally doesn't matter!!

My best friend who has an equally comfortable job told me he had about the same amount of $ as me to last him til his next paycheck too.

And on top of the financial stress, i am so fucking stressed at work because no one knows what they're doing and i keep getting roped into things at the last minute with an IM that says "hey got time for a quick call?" And then i end up having to put together a complicated spreadsheet that is needed by end of week. Why didn't you fucking ask sooner than 2pm on a thursday?! Oh cuz someone who will still have a job at the end of this didn't do what they were supposed to? Ok sure I'll get right on that. And I do. I do get right on that and have it back to you within a couple hours. Because i stupidly care about my job.

Ugghhh i hate everything atm... Except i was able to livestream my favorite singer Terri Clark's debut concert at The Ryman tonight. And i have a ton of Fran/CC fanfics queued up to read. And the Ghosts discord is constantly coming up with the cutest scenarios for H$, my current otp. And i am off the entire next week because next Friday is my birthday. And my dog is snoring.

So i guess it hasn't been such a bad day after all, Charlie Brown... or some such sentimental nonsense 🙃🙃🙃

I think I've read a fic with that premise (I know I have, I just. cannot recall Details like. title or writer.) So if I Plagiarize that fic by mistake please no one yell at me ok? ok. 1. now this IS partially from the fic I think, i'm already being a criminal, but like. it was still Nora Allen who died, not Ms Ramon (who I have named Pilar and no comics contradict me so!) and Eobard is very like. well shit, gotta adjust the Plans. on the one hand, can kill barry whenever, don't need him, but on the other hand what if I do? what if he also becomes the flash at the correct time for him, and this thing with Cisco doesn't work out and then I am stuck? bro's playing 5d chess against himself and it's not helping. so barry lives, for now, and Dante sits in an ugly plastic chair waiting for cisco to wake up. 2 I think for Cisco to get struck by the lightning it goes like this. Ronnie and Cisco both go into the accelerator. Two of us can get the vents (or whatever Ronnie was doing faster than one.) and the thing is it almost works. it almost works. almost is never enough. someone-- maybe hartley, in this au, maybe a distraught caitlin, closes the door at the 2 minute mark. all that energy goes up and out-- and the lightning bolt strikes into the heart of star labs along that same path. when the fema crews etc go shifting through, they find no sign of Ronnie--firestorm-- and Cisco, lightning scars branching down his body, comatose. 3. Cisco picks his name right off the bat. Barry starts writing about him-- and not very positively (barry had the blog in e1 and the writers forgot but I did not) because he what if that's the guy who killed my mom?? Joe, Joe /look/. And Cisco is a little offended! goes to confront Barry (who tries and fails to hit him with the CCPD's second shittiest microscope) and goes hey, could you not?? first " the man in the lightning " is a damn mouthful, I'd rather something like, i dunno, Sonic Boom, or The Flash, and furthermore I was all of 8 years old when your mom died so uh stop it??? there is a very tense moment and then they're Friends Now. Cisco doesn't understand why Wells is so deeply against having a CCPD liason??? we need one? this guy already believes in the impossible and also someone killed his mom and we can help! what do you mean no ??? ok fiiiiine. 4. Eddie, not Joe, is the one who sees Cisco fight Mardon. Eddie is more than happy to be the new liason to star labs, this is Great!!! he can use this to win over Iris and Barry! (he has big crushes on them both. potentially he gets over these crushes and he dates Cisco, I think that'd be fun.) 5. Cisco obviously does not build the cold gun, so Snart never actually manages to steal anything in central city, but he sure does try! it really does not work out for him. kidnapping an engineer to build you a weapon would be one thing if you could. you know. hold on to said engineer. Cisco Simply Dips. 5, right? fuck it one more for funsies 6. while cisco's in the coma Caitlin keeps a tv going with every episode of Star Trek queued up. constant background noise. Dr. Wells can't decide if he's learned his lesson about fucking with time or if he's so sick of the music he's going to go back even further the second he gets a chance and make them compose something else.

HAHAHHAH OMG okay so yeah, the only reason ALL of that stuff is still in the blog header (including the countdown timer) is because my theme is SO OLD (they stopped allowing custom themes when they went primarily mobile), that it's NOT SUPPORTED ON TUMBLR ANYMORE, and if I want to make any edits to any of the HTML, I have to choose a WHOLE new theme. Which I don't want to do because I get a kick out of the random asks like this that comment on the desktop version of my blog LOL. Hina: (He said he was going to be on the roof, right? Ahh, but I might not make it in time even if I run to the roof now!)

Hina: Sensei! Kashu-sensei!!! Where!? Where are you!?

Kashu: Strange, isn’t it? Someone who was just within arm’s reach moments ago is now somewhere far, far, away. 

Kashu: Yeah… I didn’t quite understand what loneliness was the last time I said that I was “lonely”…

Kashu: But, perhaps I was… I may have just been lonely at the time.

Hina: Where are you!? Sensei…!?

Kashu: ……

Hina: (There’s someone lying there… Don’t tell me… Kashu-sensei!?)

Hina: S-Sensei!? W-Wha… Why… Why did it come to this!?

Kashu: ……

Hina: (There’s blood… It’s soaking through his white lab coat. No. No, this can’t be happening!)

Hina: I didn’t make it… even though I ran here as fast as I could. I didn’t want you to die!

Hina: I told you that you weren’t alone, didn’t I!?

Hina: I don’t want you to die! Sensei!

Hina: Please wake up!!! Open your eyes! Please!

Hina: Sensei…?

Hina: K-Kashu-sensei…? You… You'realive?

Hina: Huh…!? Wait, but, huh? The blood…?

Hina: Are you a ghost… No, a zombie…? No way, right?

Kashu: Ahaha, what are you talking about? You really say the craziest things sometimes~

Kashu: Hehehe~ You do know that entering school grounds during the night is a violation of the rules, right?

Kashu: Oh dearie me, you broke the school rules yet again~ How naughty~

Hina: …Huh?

Kashu: If so, then it looks like you’re in for a treat! It’s off-hours now, but should we just do it here~?

Hina: S-Sensei? What do you… wha?

Hina: (He didn’t die… but now he’s trying to enforce the school rules? Wait, but why…? Why is he doing this?)

Kashu: Ahaha. Seems like this experiment is a success♪ You’re a real interesting one, and your reactions are all within my calculations~

Kashu: Looks like it was worthwhile to go through all the extra preparations.

Kashu: Mmhm, I’ve been reminded again that we should all spare no effort when it comes to the pre-preparations before carrying out an experiment, no matter what the experiment may be~

Hina: Experiment… preparations…?

Kashu: Yup~♪

Hina: You mean…

Hina: Everything that just happened was a lie?

Kashu: It’s not a lie. It’s an experiment!

Kashu: Ehehe. Thank you for helping me with this experiment.

Kashu: Thanks to that, I now know how you’ll react when someone broaches the topic of suicide.

Hina: ……!

Kashu: Ahaha, surprised? I mean, of course you are. Who wouldn’t?

Hina: Why would you…

Kashu: Empathy is a powerful thing, don’t you think? It makes you jump over fences and violate rules despite the terrifying punishment that awaits.

Kashu: You’re really just so, so, interesting♪

Hina: (What…?)

Hina: (So the deceased loved one he mentioned earlier and everything he’d cooked up earlier was all a big fat lie?)

Hina: (All, just to trick me into this?)

Hina: Why…?

Hina: (I have loads of questions for him, but I can’t bring myself to voice them…)

Kashu: Well~ I couldn’t exactly get proper results if you didn’t full-heartedly believe me, right?

Hina: What about the blood then? Is it there just so that I’d believe that you were dead?

Kashu: Yup, of course~♪ I couldn’t use real blood, of course, so I used a harmless component that contained iron oxide to fake it~

Hina: ……

Hina: (I see. So I’m just a test subject for him to obtain valuable data from in his eyes.)

Hina: (It doesn’t matter if my worry for him is real… because none of it matters to him.)

Hina: (He was just recording my reactions as data after all… That’s just…)

Kashu: Hm? Hmmmm? Oh my, my, my~?

Kashu: Why are you crying?

Kashu: The experiment was a success, and I’ve managed to record aaaaall the data, so cheer up! Yeah?

Hina: …

Kashu: Oh, but that’s also important info to collect~ I’ll have to make sure to record it well~

Kashu: Penning it down ♪

Hina: …!

Hina: (He doesn’t even notice my true concern for him!)

Kashu: What an interesting reaction. Oh! Rightー

Kashu: Should I really try dying in front of you this time?

Hina: Wha-

Kashu: I’m getting the urge to see what your reaction’s gonna be if I do~ Don’t you think it’s gonna be real interesting to see?

Kashu: Oh, wait~ I won’t be able to record the data down if I die though… Whatever should I do?

Kashu: Looks like I’ll have to ask someone else to take down the results. Still… I won’t be able to analyze it myself if that happens~

Kashu: Hmm, what should I do? It’s definitely a hard choice…

Hina: Eno…

Kashu: Uno?

Hina: Enough!!

Kashu: Heh?

Hina: I was seriously worried about you! I ran all the way here because… what if you really died!?

Hina: And to be told that it was all just an experiment…? That what I did was just the results of your experiment and nothing else…?

Hina: And yet, you joke about dying just because you find it interesting? You truly don’t care about anyone but yourself!

Hina: Damn you!

Kashu: Why are you mad, sacrifice-chan? Hey! Hey!!!

Hina: My feelings are just results to be recorded in his eyes… It really hurts to have that fact thrown at me all of a sudden.

Hina: (But…)

Hina: (I’m sure he doesn’t know the real reason behind my anger.)

Ice to Meet You

(I'm sorry about the title, that's all I could come up with when I was struck with the panic of needing a title when I posted)

A/N: This Maribat Meetcute was inspired by my parents<3 (they knew each other before this, but not very well, and this did happen). I was telling Ella about this, and we decided it was meet-cute-worthy, so I typed this up in an hour this morning. Beta-read by grammarly and that's it. Enjoy!

Note about this AU: Figure-skating AU, no capes AU. Damian wasn't raised by an assassin...I have no clue how he was raised, actually, but it wasn't by an assassin.

Marinette wiggled her toes in her skates, making sure she hadn’t cut off her circulation with that last tight knot, and stepped onto the ice. It was still pretty early, so only a couple similarly dedicated skaters were on the ice, leaving plenty of room for Marinette to start out with some basic moves as she continued warming up.

Her coach, Dick, should be here in about twenty minutes to go over her newly revised programme and inform her about her decision to try pair skating, so she focused on becoming completely loose and prepared for trying any new skills.

She got lost in the music in her ears, flying over the ice in contentment.

Coming out of a spin, Marinette saw Dick across the ice, talking to Mar’i, who was also on her team. Ever since Marinette had joined this skating group, she had gotten along great with Dick and viewed him as an older brother, playing pranks and joking with him when he wasn’t in coach mode.

Their formal instruction would start in fifteen minutes, so she still had time to play with him and Mar’i. Snickering evilly, she dug her picks into the ice and took off, gaining velocity as she sped across the cleared ice toward her unsuspecting victim.

“Dick!” she yelled happily, just before she made contact with him and sent him slamming into the boards.

Mar’i looked at her in horror.

“Hey, Mar’i! Don’t worry, your dad’s fine, we do this all the time.”

Mar’i shook her head and pointed at Dick, who was on the bleachers tying his skates, but had looked up at the commotion and was laughing. “That’s my dad, ‘Nette.”

Marinette turned to see who she’d just bodychecked and gasped in horror at seeing the star male figure skater of the group, Damian Wayne.

“I am so sorry, I thought you were Dick, we greet each other like that all the time. Are you hurt? I am so, so sorry for that!”

Forest green eyes met her own as Damian pointedly brushed a speck of snow off his sleeve.

“Fortunately for you, I am accustomed to my brother’s exuberant greetings as well. I will not hold this against you, as it would not bode well for our partnership to hold such things against one another.” Damian held his hand out in greeting.

“Damian Wayne, your new partner.”

“What?!”

Dick glided over to the small group in the corner. “I see you’ve already met, good. Marinette, you and Damian will be partners for the foreseeable future. Damian has decided to relax for a while after the Grand Prix, so he will be paired with you and can guide you through this learning curve. Any questions or concerns from either of you?”

Marinette shook her head, still a little in shock that the Damian Wayne was relaxing–apparently by skating with her? “Maybe later, but none right now.”

“Just one,” said Damian. “I want to see Marinette in action before anything else.”

Dick nodded at her. “The routine before this new one will be fine. Good luck!” He followed Mar’i off the ice, the traitors, to give her all the space she needed to complete her routine.

Damian hopped over the boards, not bothering with the gate, and that was completely unfair how good he looked doing that. (She’d tried once and almost cut herself. After that, she used the gate like a normal person. Dang being short!)

Dick queued up the music for her routine and Marinette took her opening spot on the ice as the opening notes played over the sound system.

Three and a half minutes later she took a bow, breathing deeply to calm her racing heart.

Damian had looked impressed and even smiled a bit at one of her flirty moves!

Thankfully, he seemed to have actually put the bodyslamming into the boards behind them, although Marinette still felt bad.

Maybe she could bring him some baking from when she inevitably stress-baked and overthought tonight? That sounded like a good idea.

“You skate well,” complimented Damian, as Dick and Mar’i skated over.

“Thank you.”

“That was great, ‘Nette! This new routine I have for you should be perfect for you, it builds off the skills you learned for this one. But first, just practice skating with Damian and hang out off-ice to build trust and friendship. It’s important to have that on- and off-ice. Of course, you don’t have to be blood-bound besties or anything, but be friendly; it’ll come in handy quite often when you’re skating together. Get to know each other well.”

Dick turned to Damian and placed his hands heavily on his shoulders, looking into his eyes. “I hate that you’re taller than me even when I’m in skates,” he grumbled. “Do not scare Marinette off with your intensity, and actually get to know her, please. I know you’re used to pairing with Rachel, but I’m sure you’ll get along just fine with Marinette if you try to get to know her.”

“Tt. I never said I would be anything less than courteous.” Damian turned to Marinette. “May I have your phone number so we can contact each other outside of the rink?”

“Uh…yeah, sure.” Marinette dug her phone out of her bag and handed it to Damian.

Dick and Mar’i exchanged glances behind Damian’s back, and Marinette wondered just how true the rumours of his standoffishness and cold-heartedness were.

“There, we have each other’s numbers. Text me when you’re free for dinner.” Damian handed her phone back and stepped back onto the ice, smoothly gliding across the surface.

Marinette looked questioningly at Dick.

“Uh…let’s head back to my office and we can discuss what to do next.”

Once they were safely in the hallway and Damian couldn’t overhear, Dick whispered to Marinette, “I’m surprised at how well he’s taken to you. Just keep doing whatever you’re doing, and if he gives you a hard time, come to me. His old partner quit and wanted to focus on a different path in life, so he’s still a little sore about that, but I think he needed something new, anyways. You’ll be good for him.”

Marinette smiled, a little less nervous. “I can’t deny being curious about him. I hope our friendship-slash-partnership goes well.”

“It will!” Dick beamed at her optimistically, and Marinette remembered the little smile on his face when he saw her routine.

Yeah, this would be fun.

And if you're wondering why Marinette didn't know it was Damian, they're young adults here and he's about half an inch taller than Dick, to Dick's dismay, and they look similar from the back. Also, he's been in Europe competing at the Grand Prix, or their training schedules have no overlap, so they haven't met yet.
