herbert west is simultaneously the smartest guy and also a fucking idiot. he managed to create something that can restart your brain but decides its a good idea to 1. use it on the guy he just decapitated and who hates his guts 2. injects both the body and the head with reagent and proceeds to only focus on the head. dude repeatedly reanimates corpses that has been only violent and hostile towards him in particular and he is somehow surprised every time

and its even funnier cause like. hes alive in the sequel and its never explained how he got out of that shit alive. last we saw him he was getting choked to death by some guy's insides and then he's. just here. this is how its gonna be and we're just moving on. no time to waste on things like "plot holes" and "on screen character deaths being undone" we've got places to be! bodies to reanimate! women to be sexist to!

where miles morales was your boyfriend and died in your dimension ‘cause you couldn’t save him in time after he was pushed off a building. where earth 1610 & earth 42, you’re dead ‘cause you got pushed off a building.

you couldn’t save him in time. by the time you saw his figure disappear from the ledge of the building, you were already frozen in spot, seeing as if the love of your life was gonna die and it was because of you.

even though you caught him by the chest with one of your webs, the recoil already impacted his head and back, causing him to die. you couldn’t apologize to him after the argument you two had.

“miles… i am so sorry. please wake up. wake the fuck up, miles! this isn’t funny. please tell me i’m dreaming, please tell me you’ll wake me up from a nightmare like before. please, i can’t lose you too…”

he always would wake you up and comfort you after a nightmare, he wouldn’t do that anymore. he would always whisper sweet things in your ear that always made you blush, he wouldn’t do that anymore.

nothing that was only exchanged between the two of you wouldn’t happen anymore, nothing. it was meaningless to you, you missed him. it was obvious to everyone.

your parents, friends, miles’s parents, classmates, teachers, schoolmates. they all knew how much you cherished eachother, how much you couldn’t keep living without eachother.

when he needed you the most, you weren’t there. you weren’t able to save him in time. maybe you could this time, saving him from a hundred other spider people.

EARLIER.

“this your friend, gwen?” a familiar voice was heard behind you making you quickly turn around, your spider sense going off. “miles?” “[name]?” the two of you spoke at the same time, jaw dropped and eyes widened.

“this was the surprise you meant, gwen.” all guilt that you thought you buried long time ago was to much to handle when you saw him, the same beauty that he had when you he died in your universe.

you couldn’t help but hug him tightly, face buried into his chest, he was always taller then you. miles jumped a little bit before hugging you back, his face buried on top of your hair.

you were restraining yourself for crying, small sniffles came from you as you could see gwen lightly smiling at the two of you. embarrassment was the only thing that made you pull away.

“sorry! i— um, have a miles morales in my dimension b - but he died.” you stumbled upon your words, blush on your cheek as miles blinked at you. “it’s fine. i have a you in my dimension but they — uh, died.”

miles nervously chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. it was awkward between the two of you, completely embarrassed that you hugged eachother even though you technically knew eachother too.

when you think about it, maybe you could save him this time… from millions of spider people and being thrown to his earth with him.

EARTH ???.

miles told you to wait in the living to talk to his mother, brooklyn was totally wrecked on his earth. spiderman was gone for just two days or maybe more and brooklyn looked like hell.

it didn’t feel right, you felt uneasy. it felt to surreal, to unrealistic in your opinion. you turned invisible when you saw mrs. morales, miles’ mother, walk out of his room, laughing.

he tried speaking to her before getting cut off by glitching, scaring you. ‘he’s in the wrong dimension.’ miles and you shared a look, signifying the look of terror.

‘the spider that bit him… it wasn’t from his dimension. miguel was right… he was never meant to be spiderman.’ the door creaked open, revealing the man who thought had died in miles’ dimension.

the two chattered, his uncle taking him to the roof as miles looked at you and gestured to follow him. it was shocking, to say the least, watching the two look at a mural.

your eyes widened at the art, instead of miles’ uncle dead, it was his dad and you. until then, you realized, you were always going to die in ever dimension but yours.

no matter how many times, no matter how many dimensions, the universes were working together to stop you and miles from every getting together.

that’s why miles died in yours, you dying in miles, and you dying in this world too. the universes never wanted you two to get together, maybe it was because of the saying:

in every other universe, gwen stacy falls for spiderman.

you were too lost in thought that you didn’t realize miles was knocked out until your spider senses tingled, reflexes making you dodged the incoming punch.

your hood (from your black sweater that you wore over your suit) flipped off, revealing the tight frown and scowl on your face. “what the f— miles…” you whispered the last part, seeing him on the floor.

something was poked into your neck, injecting you with something and forced you to sleep. losing authority over your body, you fell to the ground, unbothered by it.

your body didn’t touch the ground, that’s the thing, someone caught you in time. they cradled you softly in their arms, watching your eyes blink in and out if reality before completely closing.

aaron scoffed at his nephew, “that’s not the [name] you knew, they ain’t yours.” his nephew mumbled a yes, watching you sleep with the beauty you still had when you died.

your fingers were twitching, a small habit that you always had when sleeping. he missed you, he missed you so damn much.

and when he saw your face when your hood flipped over, he felt like he got a second chance to be with you.

but when he looked over at the other miles that was over his uncle’s shoulder, he felt hatred. he didn’t want to risk you to his other counterpart, he didn’t want to lose you, again.

and that was the same feeling 1610 miles felt, he didn’t want to lose you again. and for sure, you felt that way too.

Ok watched spiderverse 2 again here's some thoughts in no particular order (spoilers and long post ahead):

- peter b is reading a book called "how to talk to kids" at the very end. Presumably because may can't speak yet and Gwen and Miles were zapped away I choose to believe he was reading this so he can go talk to Miguel LMAO

- I fucken love the way spot, after he powers up, move around via just like... sliding around in the air basically with his bad posture like he's hung from strings like a puppet

- when gwen is drumming at the opening and when spot gets zapped both are intercut with frames from later in the movie and also later in the future. I'm guessing spot got a glimpse of canon events but when Gwen was doing her intro it was phrased like a retrospective- but unlike most intros it didn't have a shot of a new spiderman comic being thrown on the pile. So when was she doing this retrospective? I hc she'll pick back up at the end of the third movie

- someone needs to make procreate brush packs for each universe/character PLEASE

- ok the "watercolor" effect being a mood ring is incredible but I havent seen anyone talking about the sort of abstract animation?? It almost reminds me of like experimental film from the impressionist/dada/supremetism eras, you can see it synced to the drum in the intro and also in some of the backgrounds during her big speech

- also during the Guggemheim fight when the Renaissance Vulture was like "you call this art?" And Gwen was like "well we're talking about it aren't we" YOU'RE SO RIGHT GWEN I AM KISSING YOU ON THE LIPS

- the shaky 1st pov cam when Gwen's dad sneaks up on her both times reminded me of when Miles accidentally watched kingpin kill perfect Peter? Idk if it was exactly the same I'd have to go back and rewatch but UGH it really gets that Gwen's dad has two sides too and the cop side isn't really human almost, lurking in the shadows, silhouetted

- also Gwen's dad just being a shit cop, giving her mixed instructions, raising a weapon at an unarmed person who is trying to communicate, firing warning shots, yelling the Miranda rights over her which is not how its supposed to be given

- contrast that with Jeff who literally never pointed a weapon at anyone and went charging after spot with his bare hands, is casual with his spiderman. I mean even when Jeff was talking about Miles not capturing Spot correctly it was lighthearted and joking, he's actively not going by the book, he's keeping the squad off of Spiderman's back, he apparently talks to spiderman about his family troubles???

- have I mentioned I LOVE MUSICAL MOTIFS????? Seriously they’re always good (fuck Wagner everyone knows Toby Fox invented the leitmotif) I mean everyone noticed the horror style Prowler stinger but even more characters got some: Gwen got a Little Rock theme with a guitar lick that echoes the ‘spi-der-man, spi-der-man’ song, Miguel’s distorted synth whine, the interesting mouth and bells percussion that Pav gets (good job Hollywood avoiding the exotic Asian pentatonic lick for once), at the end when the 42 prowler reveal slowly changed the prowler stinger into a human scream???? There’s probably more but I’d have to go back and watch it again again lmao

- I really love how Miguel is kinda goofy. He’s aloof and over serious but he makes mistakes and shows other emotions despite his best efforts. His flaws are shown off in his very first interaction, with his unwillingness to ask for help despite the fact that he knows he needs it. He’s frustrated. He’s got group object leader energy. It makes it so much more lovable that he’s susceptible to quips and he also gets knocked down and messes up and shows up and has his quirks that everyone puts up with. THATS how you make an interesting, relatable, lovable antagonist. Perhaps it worked too well LMAO

- I am an Oscar isaac simp I gotta go rewatch moon knight

- when miles was swinging around with gwen he passed a truck called "redex" bc gwen rejected him lmao

- theres an 8 clearly visible in the background of earth 42? Wacc

- the Spread Your Wings, Man scene focusing on the plastic wrap on top of the Alchemax flowing in the wind like it’s an ocean?/??? I really hope they call back to that imagery later because it clearly means something and I need to know what

- I’ve got an inkling of something that specifically revealing one’s spider-dentity to a loved one is some kind of anti-canon event, like maybe it’s the thing that fixes the destabilization? I mean we’ve seen that it’s ok if loved ones figure it out themselves (or if they then die, like uncle Aaron) like it’s a clear theme that miles keeps trying to tell his parents, and then Gwen tells her dad, which causes him to quit the force, thereby averting the canon event of him dying indirectly??? Also, it’s implied that the MJ of 1610 sold out Perfect Peter Parker to Fisk, leading to his death, ALSO also, gayatri probably figured out Pav’s identity right before HIS world destabilized??? Idk lmao

- I hope spiderbite/Margo and Jess get proper intros I can’t wait

- the background spider hockey girl has my heart, I couldn’t stop looking at her during the chase scene

- God I need to watch moon knight again

- when mj moved into mays room to greet them she lifted a picture frame back up as she moved in the door? What's up with that???

- not Spanish originally starting as a too-relatable joke that Miles gets a B in despite his mother speaking Spanish at home as well, not living up to his expectations, and then 42!Miles presumably speaks more/better Spanish due to being closer to his mom because his dad died???

- not miles aceing ap physics and ap studio AT THE SAME TIME in his SOPHOMORE YEAR free my boy from grounding he’s done nothing wrong

- btsv’s main villain is gonna be the sat I’m telling you

- most importantly: what was up with the Comic Code Authority’s seal being shown after the studio logos at the beginning??

Did that happen in the first one??? Why would it be there??? The cca has obviously been defunct since before superhero movies were really a thing. Famously, the cca seriously censored a ton of content, causing Marvel to be unable to portray darker stories involving drugs and other more mature themes, which they wanted to do with many superheroes including Spidey??? Is the Spider Society secretly the cca, censoring storylines that they think shouldn’t be portrayed, including darker timelines like 42? There was also issues with the convoluted Spider-Man comic lines going through unsatisfying ‘resets’ to keep Spider-Man relatable, without evolving the character into anything too far away from the OG Spider-Man, ie young, relationship issues with MJ, nerdy, tragedies etc. this is the detail that had me wondering the most because it was so clearly displayed right at the beginning, and the cca was generally a shameful part of comic book history in which publishers submitted to satanic moral panic. Like, not really something that reads as a cute little callback to an era of comics like he use of Ben day dots or misaligned printing or the onomatopoeias??

An adrinette weathering with you AU

(spoilers for the movie under the cut and good god i highly recommend it especially if you liked your name)

adrien lives in a france that has seen an ridiculously rainy year (idk maybe south of france whereever the rich folks live or maybe he's in england i havent figured that out yet). his dad is abusive and beats him and he has nothing but sad rainey days until one day he sees the sun! but it's going away! in the direction of paris. and poor little sunshine boy has been desperate for some sign of hope and there it is! so he goes and runs away to go to paris

and like maybe hes in a boat or a train or whatever but in the process he's so over excited that he nearly gets killed but is saved by human Plagg who seems like a sleeazy guy but hes nice and say if you need anything kid here's my business card cause he's paternal instinct kick in (more on that later) and then they go their separate ways

and so adrien is wandering around paris but poor kid never really understood how money works and he's almost out and hes sleeping on cold streets (he meets a little cat that seems to be a stray and he puts a little bell collar he found or whateves idk and names the cat Ame for rain cause he's a weeaboo) and he's starving and he goes to a bakery and orders a small cocoa or the cheapest drink but hes starving and mari comes and gives him some food and he's all like heart in his eyes agreste and yeah but then they separate

and adrien calls up plagg desperate for money and he and tikki take him in (have to figure out if i want them as chaotic besties or romantic partners idk yet but i wanna make something tragic between them) and he hires adrien to work for him on his shady newspaper and during the course they find out about sunshine girls also known as ladybugs (based on some myths that say they bring good luck and good weather) and he starts looking for her.

and one day he finds mari again and she is in big trouble and he saves her and adrien finds out she is a ladybug! and so together they go and start their 100% sunshine girl business and bring moments of sunshine back into paris and adrien does it cause money and he fell for mari first site and mari does the same for adrien cause she loves him (but he dont know that) but also cuase she's been bad luck all her life and now she can finally do something

but then the thing is that every time a ladybug uses her sunshine powers she gives part of herself to the sky, and mari hides this cause she wants to be useful and be needed and she doesnt want to let adrien down. meanwhile it keeps getting worse and the weather gets worse to the point where it snows in august and mari realizes she has to sacrifice herself for the good of humanity.

meanwhile adrien's dad has been trying to find him and bring him back and keeps chasing him and when they get close he escapes and mari goes with him desperate to keep him safe but they are struggling and paris is freezing and mari has to come to terms with the fact that if she doesn't sacrifice herself (and fuck imcrying) the world will end (you best believe im gonna find a way to make a chat blanc reference) and so while she and adrien are in hiding he admits how much he loves her and gives her a pair of ladybug earings he saw that reminded him of her and she finally tells him that she has been slowly disappearing and he says no we will figure this out we will i promise but mari knows it will just get worse and the snow beats on the walls and she sees him shivering and she knows what she has to do

that night she sobs and realizes she wants him to live and sacrifices herself to save the city

and adrien wakes up and is distraught because omg where did mari go no please no she couldnt have she didnt please dear god no but its true shes gone and at that moment his dad's goons find him and start to take him away but no he cant let them no please he has to go save mari she sacRIFICED HERSELF TO SAVE US AND I HAVE TO GO SAVE HER PLEASE but they arent listening so he fights and runs away and tikki and plagg help him get to the portal or whatever i need to figure this out cause paris doesnt have temples lol but he gets to it and is able to use the power of love (always so strong) to reach the sky lands and bring mari back and they fall and

(maybe they separate i kinda want a sweet reunion but i do not want adrien back to his dad's place maybe he lives with plagg and like prosecutes his dad or whatever)

and paris is still suffering with water and rain and endless weather problems but adrien realizes it cant just be him and her to shoulder the weight of the world and in the end adrien realizes he's chosen this world, he chooses her, he needs her more than any blue sky AND I SOB

(AND WE EXPLORE THE THEME OF DEATH AND LOSS BECAUSE I THINK THAT WAS SOMETHING THE MOV9IE COULD HAVE DONE MORE OF AND IM JUST HAVING A LOT OF FEELINGS ABNOUT THIS BUT I CANT WRITE IT RIGHT NOWWSDJKFHDSJFS)

i just realised that ive explained half of the plot of the great barrier reef so dont read if you havent seen the movie yet

I really love corey during this movie, he sounds so cute, tbh hes literally just me but in coral form, i wanna hold him and make him tomato soup and tuck him into bed. thats how much i love him. WHY IS HE BULLIED BY EVERY FUCKING SEA CREATURE THAT IS IN THE REEF, he is so adorable why would you bully him. THE LITTLE BIT SONG IS SO CATCHY TOO it sounds so fun and i love it so so so much

and the way he fuckin crashes into the gup-w while he was singing is so funny to me idk why but it is

while barnacles n peso help corey get unstuck, they try to help him to find a place to settle down and build coral

then some crab and sea-sponge got summoned by the word "location" and started to sing a funky tune and i kinda like it

after they find a place for corey, he grows and this is the start of my favourite song of all time

I ADORE PESOS VOICE DURING THIS SONG, he sounds so nice please i mean he is very nice thats his whole character but oughhhhh i love his voice so much. i often find myself singing it. by the way the song is called "Big things are built from things that are small/Stretch til you stand" you guys dont understand i love it sm

later when peso is done giving corey his check up, some kinky tentacles started appearing, then they find out that the tentacles belong to a big purple old ass mound coral, AND oh gawd i love him, his voice is just OUGH /pos. and this is my next favourite song "trouble on the reef" ITS SO FUNKY I LOVE IT i really love songs that are like this

after the song, the same crab and sea sponge (and by the way their names are Clovis and Laverne and i really dont care abt it),the sea sponge got attacked by a spikey thing n now needs medical attention from peso

"i need to perform a spike-ectomy right away." then pulls out the spike with tweezers like the adorable badass he is then does his signature "you need a bandage" thing and now laverne is all better

later-on, kwazii calls the gup-w to see how things are going on, barnacles answered by saying that theyre already helping creatures on the reef, and kwaziis like "lol alright btw me n tunip are cooking up a lil surprise for everyone :)" n peso is like "ooo what kind of surprise?" "its a surprise" then kwazii fucks off and goes to his little secret door way thingy n opens it, he has a little recipe from his great grandad which is called pirate pie

he goes to the kitchen to tell the other vegimals the instructions n shit but he wouldnt show the recipe bc uh like he said, secret and sings a song about it (which i love by the way wewewe,,) which shows the concept of murder- during the mixing one of the vegimals attempts murder by throwing a spatula at kwazii but he misses so its all good :thumbsup:

after finishing the first few steps of the pirate pie recipe he goes and fucks off again to find the final recipe (spoiler alert: its coral slime aka coral shit) which is in the reef

i really wanted Inkling to have his own song in the great barrier reef.

actually i want Tweak, Dashi, Shellington and literally any other character who didn't get a singing role. Dashi's singing voice would have probably been really nice...

and uhmb kwazii's song "Briny blue" is most likely one of my favourite songs in the movie (i also like "Big this are built from things that are small" "trouble on the reef" and the "pirate pie" song) , but like, i dont rlly like his voice while singing??? idk it just doesnt sound right to me??? but i love his voice either way (sometimes i find myself singing pirate pie and briny blue), he sounds funny i love him

and also also, im pretty upset about captain's singing voice, im very not used to Barnacles having a different voice, it sounds weird and it doesn't sound like him at all. but a thousand pies song is great and i love it but oh god his voice. but like kwazii, i love him either way, weird singing voice or not, i am in love with him

The Batman - here's what I think (spoilers)

IT WAS FCKIN AMAZING! ! ! GO SEE THE MOVIE IF YOU HAVENT! ! GO !

First of all - Batman

Robert Pattinson is definitely without a doubt my favorite live action batman. He held so much emotion in his eyes I could tell what he was feeling the whole time even with the mask on. he is a great actor and his batman is everything I hoped for. Smart, violent, angry, and yet still compassionate and understanding of the people and the city around him.

I want to see more of him. There's something about the way his batman interacts with gotham and its people that just brings it home for me. the best way I can say it is that his batman feels like he IS a part of the city, he blends in perfectly, his entire character is so ingrained, both in the history of gotham (as a wayne, his family not being exempt from the corruption), and in his appearance (the scars, the dents and stitches on his mask). Everything he does, everything he stands for, is resembled in the city around him.

If Batman is vengeance, then so is the city. But if he finds hope, then so does gotham.

Now on to - Catwoman

my absolute favorite. everything, from the way she moves and fights to her emotional scenes, was absolutely top tier. zoe kravitz is selina kyle. I still can’t believe how good the casting is.

Her story was well done, I liked how her own struggle with vengeance and justice was portrayed, and while I knew about the Falcone twist it was all very well executed and tied beautifully into the overall narrative.

Selina leaving at the end was classic batcat, and a good choice I think. If there’s a sequel she’ll no doubt come back, and I can’t wait to see where they take her character next.

The Riddler

ok ok ok. So, overall? pretty cool. loved the zodiac serial killer vibe. that and the structure of the movie really set him apart from the other main batman villains we've seen.

paul dano was an absolutely fantastic choice. he was terrifying and unsettling and his backstory was also solid. the whole internet influencer thing was interesting and seems like a modern and clever way for him to get his 'goons'.

but, I will be disappointed if this was it. like if this is the last we see from the riddler. I know there is a scene that suggests that's not the case but still. Maybe I'm a little delusional about this because he's my favorite batman villain but his character arc and especially that last scene made me think this was just the beginning for him?

I'd just really love it if maybe this time he could be batmans main adversary instead of the joker

Gordon, Alfred, and Penguin

I'll keep this one short because I want to be done with this at some point, so here it goes:

Loved the Gordon-Batman duo. They really worked so well together, as partners, and the way they trust and respect each other shows us so much about their history without actually going into details.

alfred is great, as always, even though I thought he'd be in it more. the few bruce-alfred interactions we had were important but left me wanting to see more of their relationship. just more alfred, please :)

gonna take this as an opportunity to give a shout out to the costume and make-up department. all the designs were amazing but I have to mention penguin in particular, because colin's make-up and prosthetics still make me drop my jaw on the floor. it was even more amazing while watching the movie because his performance and facial expression didn't seem affected in the slightest. no doubts, he's a great penguin, and I hope we get to see more of him.

Guys, this movie is an EXPERIENCE. Trust me. If the visuals and the cinematography are what pulls you into this world, then the music is what keeps you there. Absolutely fantastic.

also the sound of THAT batmobil engine still haunts me (in a good way)

this brings me to the overall atmosphere of the movie which is easily the best thing about it. gotham feels so real and intense; this movie really brings out the city with all it's neon bright lights, gothic architecture, and creepy dark alleys.

the fight scenes were great. this movie isn't your classic action packed superhero flick, so don't expect flashy boss battles, but instead enjoy incredibly well executed and organic fight moves that remind me of the arkham games. and since I really don't know how else to put this - there's a lot of violence in this movie that isn't limited to physical fights but is also apparent in the quiet moments like a powder keg that's getting ready to blow.

The tension on screen is just insane, and the music and the performances of the actors just add onto the visual masterpiece that is this movie. Also I will never stop gushing over Nirvana as a music choice and influence.

In general, this movie plays off a lot of the things we already know about batman, and about gotham, and focuses on showing us the parts we haven't seen yet. This movie breathes from the characters matt reeves chose to set the tone for this universe. penguin, riddler, catwoman, they are the ones who introduce us to this particular version of gotham (and batman with it). we're all familiar with them, and yet we've never seen them presented in this way. I really hope it gets a sequel because I feel like there is still so much room for these characters to grow in.

This batman universe has the chance to become something different and unique from all the other superhero stuff we've seen. And I really hope they take that chance.

Gale Reviews: Miraculous World: New York

(The following review contains spoilers, and if you would like to not be spoiled, I would recommend watching the episode before reading)

(I had to pause a LOT to get through this special)

-Oh s*** Cosmo bug and Astro Noir. That is so cool.

-Okay maybe its my audio, but their voices seem a bit deeper. No big, just something I noticed.

-Okay the yellow flower was cute. Good on you kitty.

- Also, side note. This is very nice animation. Very crisp.

- Marinette is moving on... kinda. Well, she is trying. Its not easy getting over someone you have a thing for. I guess that means Miracle Queen did happen and I will need to suck it up. But.... I am not moving on yet either.

- The puppet show was perfection. And honestly on par with what you would expect from middle school projects. (I almost thought it was the adults showing them and was like WTF)

-BACK THE F***. Madame Bustier is PREGNANT! PREGNANT?! I am so lost? What is the story!? Who is the father! Is she married? Is it artificial insemination! Is it the principal?

-Adrien so moved by Marinette’s outburst of Friendship. Marinette ‘Just a friend’ Dupain-Cheng is going the Tia Gardner method of friendship. Lol

-Marinette ready to fight and Gabriel just like ‘Yea sure whatever’ (Gabriel’s smile murders puppies)

- Kagami trying to cheer adrien up. If you love adrigami, get that juice. (That looked like a kiss kiss, but the angle seemed off, so I am not counting it that way.)

- Kitty Clicker is wonderful. This entire scene is gold.

-  Gorrilla doesnt like planes, poor baby

- Plagg, you are a devious little s***. I love you so much. As a writer, his dialogue on how to convince adrien is so devilish its amazing. Using technicalities to tempt adrien.

-Lukanette shippers get your juice... even if it was still tainted a bit by Adrien inclusion. You still get a kiss.

- Okay, can we appreciate that Adrien is also having the same amount of trouble as Marinette moving on, but also include Guilt into the equation? I love this because you KNOW Chat noir is going to get an ear full later.

-Marinette has totally moved on from Adrien.... Oh my poor sweet little girl. You havent. You havent even a little. This ride is litterally the reverse of Startrain and its amazing. Alya is NOT helping. Also, give the person that drew Marinette’s Daydreams a f***ing raise. They earned it

-Marinette pulling herself OUT of the situation. Now adrien is slightly bummed out. Well i am sure that this is the last awkward experience with Adrien she will have. It isnt like the two of them will get lost in NY together... thats whats gonna happen isnt it?

-Marinette walking past all the couples sleeping together. JULROSE GET YOUR JUICE!!!

-Ah yes, nothing like watching the sunset with your good friend. Yes, you good pal, Adrien. Who is Just a friend. Wow, the realization that Marinette used the word friend in this movie more times then Adrien did in the entire series so far. (Or at the very least close)

- Adrien, STOP! Marinette is trying to move on from you! Stop making it so damn difficult for her. (I am not serious, i am eating this s*** up like Sushi)

-Nino confirms he loves Adrien. ADRINO COME GET YOUR JUICE! But yea, I feel alya and Nino’s pain. So they are going to help them both.

-Adrienette hugs. Yes, good.

-And thank goodness for Techno Pirate! Saving everyone from awkwardness by trying to bring down a plane... thats heading for NY...

-OH SWEET! BATMAN RIP OFF AND Captain Marvel rip off! And their sidekicks, Robin rip off and... Medusa girl? Okay Neat.

-Jokes aside, Majestia and Night Owl are boss as hell.

-Wow, I know that Ladybug and Chat noir got powerups now. But these United Heroes make their powers look so bland in comparison.

-ADRIEN! DONT USE YOUR PHONE ON AN AIRPLANE! Well, unless he is using the in flight wifi, then he good.

-How come New York has a f*** ton of superheroes in this universe? America really gets all the cool stuff regardless of what fictional universe your in.

- Why are the superheroes so keen on watching over Marinette’s class? Do they know? Do they know Marinette and Adrien are there? Or is it like they just want to prevent an international incident. PLEASE LET IT BE THE LATER.

- I have only had Aeon for 15 seconds and I would violently murder anyone who harms her.

-Oh my Sabrina! GET YOURSELF AN AMERICAN BOY! ... And Chlo�� is going to ruin the fun. Oof tough break roomies.

-The entire class! I cant even! Not even a second after the door closes they out to party on the roof!

-Okay, I take back what I said, these heroes need some Miraculous asap.

- Ladybug is 100% justified in being angry with Chat Noir. It is his fault.

-AEON!!!! NO!!!!!!! Okay, guess i have to kill that techno pirate, and Chat noir

-MAJESTIA IS F***ING PISSED! WRECK HIM MAJESTIA!

- Seems they really hammering it in that Chat noir f***ed up. They right though, but at least Ladybug isnt angry enough to agree that Chat noir should give up his miraculous to some rando. FLEEING FROM THE LAW!

-So lucky charm can only fix damage due to specific villains. It cant fix things when the villain is gone or they are out of range. I always knew it had limitations, but damn. Chat noir REALLY screwed the pooch on this one.

-Adrien no! Oh s***! He cant just... I mean.... He can but...

-Gabriel stole the Eagle! The Kwami of Freedom. The irony is so delicious here.

- So night Owl and Sparrow are both chick with Masculine superhero appearances. Thats actually pretty damn smart, great way to keep people off their identity.

-Welp, i am depressed. Adrien doesnt have Plagg.

-EVEN THE PRESIDENT IS A SUPER HERO! AMAZING!

- So an akumatized person can USE A MIRACULOUS WHILE AKUMATIZED! WHAT THE F*** THATS AWESOME. Also why didnt catalyst do that?

-Gabriel actually getting adrien out of there while before s*** hits the fan. That is actually kind of a decent parenting move. Granted he is going to cause it, but appreciate it.

-Marinette the bike thief is back! And she is an international criminal!

- She tried so hard. Welp I am glad that Marinette is clearly over... actually no. This trip made that clear.

-Liberation, Wow. That is the most American power I have ever seen. I LOVE IT.

- Okay, so I never thought i would say this. maybe there is such a thing as too much freedom? Or at least Freedom that lets you impede on Other people’s freedoms.

- I know what Zag is up to, and it is working. I want a tv series Of Jess and Aeon. They are wonderful.

-So Majestia can casually move the moon. Yea, thats amazing and terrifying! I love her.

-Quantum masking! So there is a glamor effect! I knew it! So Aeon knows who ladybug and Chat noir are.

-DID I F***ING MENTION I WOULD MURDER FOR AEON!

-aeon will never see Tikki or plagg. Thats so sad.

-At least Adrien learned an important lesson.

-Cute LADYNOIR REUNION

-The was clever, using the keychain

- Eagle jess is epic.

-and Majestia can catch missles. Considering she can move the moon. Not surprising.

-OH DAMN, Night owl and Sparrow are LEGACY HEROES! Thats like the Phantom, Or like Jojo.

-That was sweet of Marinette and the class.

-Oh so the guardian of those miraculous came back to claim it.

-But now sounds like the set up for a new series.

Overall, I did greatly enjoy this movie. Though there were times i wanted to know more, and times I wanted to know less. I know this takes place sometime during season 4, but the exact time is vague. It did tell a really cool story. It felt like a three episode saga combined into one. It was kind of interesting. And damn the drama was higher.

I give it a 7.5/10.

I would rate it up there with my favorite ML episodes.

okay so i finished love, victor a while ago and i saw some other reviews and thoughts about it here so now i've got a pretty good list on my thoughts and feelings.

tl;dr: it has some issues, yes, but im gonna hold out and hope it gets better later on because the same thing happened with the first few eps, i wasn't that into it but then it got good, and nothing is ever great with the first season, because at that point we're getting used to those characters.

⚠️caution: spoilers ahead (im on mobile, i cant get an under-the-cut)⚠️

1. while a leah on the offbeat movie would have been amazing movie sequel (even tho i havent read the book yet, im just here for the wlw content) i am kind of glad we got this instead. mostly because I've seen book series where one movie was good, so they decide to do the rest, turn out bad (hunger games? divergent? percy jackson? the hobbit?) because so much was cut from the book-to-first movie writing, that other scenes wouldn't make sense to future movies if they had those in while cutting others. however, i am sad that i didn't get to make the choice of deciding whether what was cut was wrong etc. about future movies, but i'll take what i can get.

2. LGBTQ+ POC as a lead! that's amazing! as a ace/bi lantina that's close to home (it also is great that victor's from texas and so is ya gorl) and even then it's a mixed latinx family! i think pilar mentioned that at least the grandmother left Colombia and i saw the Puerto Rican flag in victor's room. also the salazar's are definitely from small town texas, even without knowing the name. (church barbeques, the use of the words "such a diverse city" in regards to atlanta)

3. a lack of actual lgbtq+ main storylines (so far) is kind of sad for a show like this. i was getting serious bi/pan vibes (as a lot of other people) from victor from the beginning, and when it was implied that victor was actually gay (while great, not shaming) as it has been brought to my attention, there was a lot of looking at a lot of straight relationship problems (please let us know more about benji)- edit 6/18: upon further consideration, it very much is a show about questioning your sexuality, I'm speaking about the other straight relationship issues, not mia and Victor's, its just the first season.

4. let us talk about cheating for a sec. never okay, in any circumstance. i feel sorry for mia that she saw victor making out with benji and the fact that he was doing any of that in the first place. victor made a choice to lie about the espresso machine and then kissed benji at the hotel and then when benji was fighting with derek, basically confessed his love and mistakes, then proceeded to makeout with benji after he broke up with derek, he built that grave and now he must lie in it. i get having feelings for a guy when you are in a relationship with a girl, and not accepting yourself enough to end that relationship but you really want it to work so you can be "normal". really, he should have told mia after he got back from the trip tho. i get being in highschool and doing stupid stuff and making dumb decisions, but for a show aimed at teens i think we should also remind said teens to make good choices even if we have to lose some realism within the character choices.

4. pilar and her decisions based off her brother pissed me off. because i honestly think that if she'd kept her mouth shut about what she knew or confronted victor about it in the first place we could have avoided a LOT of mess. did she not learn from snooping around her mother's business about her relationships that going behind a person's back doesnt end well? i did, however, like the pilar/felix friendship and was really kind of hoping that they'd get together during their coffee hangout (although now im glad that didn't happen) because they had a deeper understanding of each other. same with wendy/felix, although they do seem to much alike to work out in the long run but i still feel bad for wendy.

5. i don't know how i feel about lake and andrew, as people separate from each other. both seem to be the way they are from their upbringing (not confirmed why andrew is such an ass, but if his comment about his dad is anything to go by i bet it's got something to do with attention) but andrew seems to be less, idk, superficial? like he turned down mia because he didn't want to be a rebound, he didn't out victor, he actually stood up to early teasing the other dudes in the lockerroom were doing at victor (with teasing of his own obviously but that interaction had him on my nice list until much later). lake? lake. i honestly don't have an opinion of her? not really. i mean after hanging out with pilar i was hoping felix wouldn't go back to lake. is her name laken? i feel like her full name is laken. but they also played the "im only like this because my mom is really superficial about stuff and i do like the geeky nice guy but appearances" to "actually screw the norms im gonna makeout with him infront of the whole student body". i honestly thought she was gonna be bi because she kept hitting on mia when she was helping set up for her "date" and "big night" and there was one point where i saw her face fall at something mia said in relation to her and idk i was hoping she'd be bi (i figured early on that victor/mia wasnt gonna work and was like "oh mia/lake would be cute" but now idk.

6. okay on to the "big night", i have one word. NO. i didn't like the peer pressure into having sex. i agreed with felix when he said "your body your choice" but im also disappointed that victor made out with mia and when lake was talking to felix after victor left he didn't try to stand up for victor.

7. on to age gaps because i hadn't really thought of this at first. we'll start with benji/derek: WHAT GRADE IS BENJI?! because that determines my thoughts. if he's a sophomore that meant that he and Derek started dating benji's freshman year and thats eugh, don't do that, don't care if its a gay couple that shouldn't be happening because the maturity of the two characters is DRASTICALLY different (this is also a reason i am not a fan of cmbyn) but that would explain why they were so rocky. hoping the event at the gay bar was open to anyone not just for drinking, but not liking that fact that not one of the adults with victor were like: hey, this is a 16 year old, that's kind of wack when that dude was hitting on victor. that made me question some stuff. although i figure it might be making up for the lack of a gay bar scene in love, simon. but even then, in svthsa it's a restaurant with a bar that some people go to just to drink at, it wasn't just a bar, simon could be there but should NOT have accepted drinks from college kids, not matter how attractive.

8. i loved how bram and simon and their friends helped victor out though. i like how bram was like: hey i know my friends are a lot so here's a gay basketball league becaue there's no one way to be gay. i like how Simon talked about needing help himself just to help victor and how he said his friends were cool with it because it's a community. i like of justin(?) mentioned how being what his parents wanted was putting on a mask and pretending, not him doing drag. my favorite lines from that ep are: "and before you ask my pronouns are they/them/theirs" "'they're all gay? even that guy? he's like [insert really tall number]' 'yeah. you should see him in heels'" "or in simon's case: really unathletic" "and also because bram said that if i wore [the jean jacket] one more time he'd burn it". also katya was there. and the group hug too!

9. the back hand homophobia in relation to family is sad, but realistic and i sincerely hope his parents are kind enough not to be too harsh on victor because of it. anything they say that isn't positive or supportive of victor is bad but i hope they realize that there is more to him than that and that they can come to terms with it because it's not always that hard to be a part of that community and super religious. i am biromantic and catholic. and while there are some things i wont agree on my mom with, i know that it's more of a strike against God for kicking out gay kids from families than it is to be gay, because those parents were given trust by GOD to love those kids no matter what, and be good parents. so in the end, the parents are wrong and harmful and in the case of christians against jesus's teachings to love everyone.

10. this is fan speculation but dont think simon/bram are going through a rough patch? i honestly think it'd be a little cruel to the characters to have on of their actors be producing but then not have that relationship stay. and while it's not set in stone and obviously things happen in the real world, we have no proof script wise about there being a rift. all we have are bad photoshopped ig photos and scenes where two characters are never standing next to each other probably beccaue schedules never link up correctly for minor characters. who knows, maybe nick robinson was filming for a movie where is does have an even more major role than victor's gay guru in a series about victor so his filming time was around that. im gonna keep hope that things are okay.

11. that being said: we need more mainstream wlw content, because someone said it earlier and it really does seem to be catering to straight girls. i'll admit i did freak out when benji played call me maybe which is something i associated with him and victor but then kissed a guy because who wouldn't? we get that serenade and sweetness and then it'a ripped from us. but i did mellow out. if i flipped later it was because victor was making dumb decisions and i had to give myself a moment of compsure before i continued.

in the end, i'd say that there is a lot of growth this series needs to go through, but i also know that some people just aren't going to like it and i get that. but i also know that sometimes the best of stories have rocky starts, nothing is ever perfect from the beginning. and besides, further seasons are on hold until we figure out this covid thing, which means that you bet they're gonna be looking at our feedback. they saw what we thought before, they can do it again

i really did like it but we need more ACTUAL lgbtq+ relationship stuff from this series and better decisions on what we are teaching the younger generations, as well as what we want to focus on and realism within characters. i'm giving it an 8/10, because there is always room for growth and i really hope we get better things out of this than what we have been given in season 2.

I did fall asleep towards the end there I'm not gonna lie, but ya know, we've all seen this movie before, so.

it was just as horrible as i remembered it but like....i did enjoy falling in and out of sleep as it played in the background so that counts for something right??

Somebody talk to me about "A Silent Voice"

(Spoilers)

Literally that movie was so stylistically pleasing and amazingly well crafted. Listen the little details and the symbolism throughout are tearing me up inside. Why are there no analyses on this movie here??? Theres so much to talk about!!!!

Like can we talk about how the background changes to portray the mood of Shoya? In the beginning of the movie everything is lively and loud and Shoya is even walking with a very cocky swagger. And then when shit goes down we get this view from Shoya's eyes where hes looking down at the ground and we get a lot of low shots of people's legs and the background becomes blurry and then we get that scene where he covers up his ears to block out the rest of the world and the sound changes. And I think the symbolism of covering his ears is really interesting cuz later in the movie he reveals that he just wishes he could have understood what Shoko meant when they were kids, cuz he knows that if he did things could have gone better. And then at the end of the movie he uncovers his ears and we're hit with a barrage of sounds and the X's fall off of people's faces and the background comes in to stark clarity and hes finally letting the world in.

And speaking of sound can we talk about how masterfully it was utilized to depict a deaf girl? These people went so far as to deconstruct a piano and place a microphone right next to the mallets to pick up the sound of not only the mallet hitting the strings, but the reverberations and release sounds after they've been hit, which gives so much more to the sound than just the single note. It's an imperfect sound and I think that translates into how Shoko hears the world through her hearing aids. And when Shoko is first introduced it's with single piano notes really spaced apart and as the movie continues the notes get closer together as she becomes more understood and at the end of the movie we get a sort of duet of music notes from both Shoko and Shoya.

And theres the whole flower business! I don't know what they all mean, I havent looked it up yet, but there was a lot of flower symbolism.

And I also wanna talk about how this movie handles living with a disability, both physical and mental. It doesnt brush aside the characters' feelings and doesnt rush through the details of how these things affect their lives. We actually get to see these characters feel, and I don't think you yourself have to be deaf or depressed to really connect with them and share their feelings. It also portrays a pretty accurate reaction to certain stimuli and events when struggling with depression as well, which I don't think I've ever seen in a very long time. We see this constant cycle with Shoya where he goes through periods of highs and lows. Like, for example there are lots of times where literally in the middle of having a fun time Shoya will be hit with sudden doubt and his whole mood tanks.

God I just need a full blown essay on all the intricacies of this movie I wanna talk about this for hours
