can I pls pls pls get an other single dad Spencer I'm on my knees here jade baby! I would love a fic where they r dating and reader comes over and basically Amy is like ur his gf?? But I thought u were my best friend?! And she's upset and reader is just like babe I can be both! Obvs we r bffs! And then May be she asks Spencer if she can take amy out of ice cream or something just the girls
thank you for your request! fem, 1.4k
Peeling Amy’s grapes is a repetitive, calming task. You press your nail to the top of the grape where the stalk had been, carving away a sliver of the fruit as you pinch the skin and pull. It comes away in small, triangular pieces that you put in the bowl on your lap.
You put the naked grape in Amy’s hand. They’re seedless, so all she has to do is chew.
“Thank you,” she says, distracted by the TV.
“You’re welcome.” You move to another grape.
You’re sitting together on the couch in Spencer’s apartment. Spencer sits at the dining table across the way, writing a letter, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration. Bright afternoon sunlight ebbs in through the window behind the kitchen sink to kiss his arms and illuminate his workspace, a beam of it catching his arm, his fine hairs like strands of gold.
“Spence?”
“Yeah?”
“Are we still going to the library?”
“Yeah…” His writing gets very fast. He finishes it off with a smile and a resounding period, picking the paper up and folding it in a clean half. “I can post my letter at the same time.”
You watch him give his hair a vigorous scratching as he stands. “I’m gonna go get a sweater,” he says, making for his bedroom.
You follow him until he’s gone. Amy hums, kid-talk for please pay attention to me.
“Oh, sorry. Forgot your grapes.”
“Why do you look at him like that?”
You smile shyly. “Uh, like what?”
Her brown eyes widen as her eyebrows pinch together. “I don’t know. You looked at him for a long time.”
“I guess I like looking at him, ‘cos I really like him. You’re beautiful because of so many things, but your dad is part of the reason. He’s beautiful, so you’re beautiful.”
She wrinkles her nose, but she’s smiling. “You really like him?” she whispers.
“Of course I do,” you whisper back, “he’s my boyfriend.”
Amy winces hard. “What?” she asks.
She’s suddenly and emphatically incredulous. You take her hand, but she takes it right back and stands up on the couch. She gives you a weird look as she backs away, sitting heavily on the armrest. “He’s your boyfriend?”
“Why do you think I’m always here these days?”
You know you’ve said the complete wrong thing the moment it leaves your mouth. You’re honestly shocked she didn’t know; Amy is a very smart little girl, and you were under the impression she knew about you and her father being a couple. But she’s also just a little girl, with big feelings.
“I thought you were here to see me,” she says softly.
You push the bowl of grapes across the coffee table, remorseful. “Amy, I’m sorry. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. I come here to see you, too, of course I do, I love spending time with you.”
Her eyes fill with tears. She’s not a crocodile crier, at least not when you’re around. You know these to be the genuine deal, and that makes it much worse for you.
“Babe, I’m sorry! I really didn’t mean it like that, I promise. I’m here to see you, too, it’s not just to see your dad.”
“Because we’re best friends,” she says.
“Of course we are.” You open your hands. “Of course.”
She finally takes your hands, despite her tears. Her face has turned dark with a hot flush, embarrassment twisting her lips into an expression that turns your heart.
“I’m sorry for what I said,” you whisper. “Can you forgive me? You’re so important to me, Amanda.”
Spencer appears behind her looking like a deer caught in bright headlights. You ignore him, giving Amy’s fingers a rolling squeeze.
“I thought we were best friends– and– and–” She sucks in a shaky breath as a fresh crest of tears fall. “I thought you were here to see me.”
“I am here to see you.”
You’ve done loads of things with Amy without Spencer’s involvement. If he sleeps in, you and Amy watch cartoons together in your pyjamas eating breakfast burritos. You’ve babysat her on short notice, you had her for a sleepover once so he could give a talk in Michigan. You and Amy do tons of things without her father, like eating peeled grapes, and jigsaw puzzles while he reads, and girl talk. You cuddle.
Poor girl.
“Amy, I love you.”
“You do?”
“So much!” You wipe the tears from her chin.
“I didn’t know that– that dad was your boyfriend,” she says bashfully.
“Me and your dad started as best friends, that’s why. He’s my second bestest friend ever.”
“Who’s number one?” she asks.
You poke her chest gently. “Who do you think?”
She nods and looks down. She wipes her cheeks, and that’s what upsets you the most in the whole ordeal. Her hands look small and uncoordinated.
“You okay, angel?” Spencer asks, coming up from behind to hug her.
“Sorry,” she says.
“It’s okay. Crying is okay,” he murmurs. “What happened?”
“I didn’t know you were boyfriend and girlfriend.”
“I’m sorry, I thought you knew,” Spencer says, giving her arm a soft up and down, “when I told you we were dating I should’ve been more clear about what that means. I’m very sorry we confused you.”
“It’s good!” she says, sniffling, pressing a little sob into Spencer’s chest.
You bite your cheek. You really hadn’t meant to do this to her, just she’s as empathetic as her father. She’s a bubbling mess against him.
You look at Spencer. It’s your fault, you misspoke, and you’re asking him to save you as a kindness.
“What’s making you cry, sweetheart?” he whispers, pulling her right into his chest.
“I just wanted to be her best friend.”
“You are,” he whispers, nose against her temple, “I might be her boyfriend, but you think she likes me so much she’s here every single weekend? No way. She sees me every day at work, she doesn’t need to come over if all she wants to do is see me. But you know who she doesn’t see at work?”
“Me…”
“Exactly. She comes here every weekend to be with you, so we can all be together. Okay?”
“Okay,” she says, taking in another shaky breath.
“Are you crying because you’re still upset, or because it’s just a feeling?” he asks softly, slowly. “It’s okay if you’re still sad, but maybe we need to have some water?”
“Okay,” she says, stretching it into one big cry.
“Could I give you a hug?” you ask. You’re lost.
She nods. Spencer says, “Okay, you guys hug and I’ll go get my Amy a glass of water.”
You fold Amy into an embrace carefully. She’s heavy with her upset but she wants the hug, her arms at your sides as she rubs her nose against your shoulder. “Amy,” You say, taking a pause to brush her hair from her warm neck, “I’m sorry, angel. I really am. I didn’t mean to upset you.”
She sounds just like her dad as she replies. “I didn’t mean to cry.”
“Well, that’s okay! If I thought you didn’t want to be my friend either I would be just as upset.”
“You would?”
“Amy, do you know how much I love seeing you? I would sit here and watch TV and peel grapes with you every day of the week, I’d love to…” You hope Spencer won’t mind what you’re about to suggest. “In fact, maybe you and I need to do more things together, what do you think? When was the last time we went to Penny’s Ice Cream Parlour?”
She looks up at you with love and apt suspicion. “You just want me to feel better.”
“Of course I do. I should be allowed to take my favourite girl for ice cream, right?”
Spencer hesitates in the kitchen with the fairy glass half full. You’re stroking Amy’s hair away from her neck, so sorry, and so lovely. He couldn’t want anything more in life than Amy, but if he got to choose, he would love to have you, and to have you treat her as you are now, nothing but affection in your touch as you soothe her overstimulation. “We can go alone?” Amy asks.
“Sure, bubby, we can go just you and me. Banana splits?”
Spencer loves her, but he loves ice cream, too. “Wait, why can’t I come?”

Chaotic Monopoly night with the X-Men
Playing Monopoly maybe wasn't such a good idea
A simple Monopoly game night with Logan, Remy, Kurt, Scott, Jean, Laura, and Rogue quickly turns chaotic as competitive spirits flare and petty rivalries take over. Despite your best efforts to keep the peace, the game spirals into full-blown chaos, leaving everyone more focused on winning than on having fun.
Characters: Logan Howlett, Remy LeBeau, Kurt Wagner, Scott Summers, Jean Grey, Laura Kinney & Rogue
Tumblr media
- It had started as an innocent idea. A simple game night to bring everyone together, to relax and unwind after the week. You had suggested Monopoly, hoping the slow-paced, strategic game would help everyone bond. As you set up the board, everyone seemed in good spirits, laughing and teasing one another. Logan, Remy, Kurt, Scott, Jean, Laura, and Rogue had all agreed to join, and you felt a sense of satisfaction as they gathered around. You had no idea what you were in for.
- Logan was the first to grumble as soon as he saw the game pieces. “I’m not being the damn thimble,” he muttered, reaching for the dog instead. You bit back a smile and handed him the piece, already sensing the tension building. Remy smirked and casually picked up the top hat, twirling it in his fingers like it was some sort of prize. “Look at dis, chérie,” he said, flashing you a grin. “I’ll be runnin’ dis board in no time.”
- You took a deep breath and rolled your eyes playfully as everyone else selected their pieces. Kurt chose the car with a cheerful, “Zis vill be fun, ja?” He seemed optimistic, at least for now. Jean chose the cat, her calm demeanor making you hope she’d be the voice of reason later. Scott picked the battleship, predictably taking his strategy seriously right from the start. Laura grabbed the iron without a word, clearly already plotting her moves in her head, while Rogue chose the boot, eyeing Remy’s top hat with suspicion.
- The first few turns were harmless enough. Everyone moved their pieces across the board, making light jokes and trying to get a feel for the game. But as properties started being bought, the competition heated up. Remy bought up half of the properties on one side of the board, smirking every time he landed on something new. “Better watch out, mes amis,” he said with a wink. “Dis is gonna be my city.”
- Logan was already eyeing him with suspicion, grumbling under his breath whenever he landed on a property Remy owned. “You cheatin’ or somethin’, Gumbo?” Logan growled, narrowing his eyes. Remy just laughed and leaned back in his chair, clearly enjoying how much he was already getting under Logan’s skin. You could feel the tension rising, but you tried to keep things light by cracking jokes and making sure everyone had snacks.
- Kurt, ever the optimist, landed on Boardwalk and his whole face lit up. “Oh-ho! Vhat luck!” he said, glancing around the table with a wide smile. “Looks like I’ll be winning after all!” But before he could even celebrate, Scott landed on Park Place and immediately started calculating how to turn this into a deadly duo with his strategic brain. He adjusted his glasses and leaned forward. “This is where the game changes,” he said seriously, ignoring the collective groan around the table.
- Meanwhile, Jean tried to stay neutral, but you could tell she was getting quietly competitive. Every time she landed on a new property, she gave Scott a knowing look as if to say, “I’m not going easy on you.” She stayed calm on the surface, but you could feel the brewing tension between her and Scott as they started subtly battling for dominance on the board.
- Laura, on the other hand, was completely ruthless. She didn’t say much, but every move she made was calculated, her eyes cold and focused. She quickly amassed a row of properties and quietly upgraded them to hotels without anyone noticing. Logan glanced over at her board at one point and raised an eyebrow. “You’re too damn quiet over there, kid. What’re you up to?”
- Rogue was growing more and more frustrated as Remy kept avoiding landing on her properties. Every time he dodged one of her spots, she shot him a glare. “You better land on somethin’ of mine soon, swamp rat,” she muttered. Remy just laughed and leaned over to kiss her cheek, which only made her roll her eyes. “That ain’t gonna save you.”
- The chaos really kicked off when Logan and Scott started getting into it over a trade. Logan wanted one of Scott’s railroads, but Scott, being Scott, refused to give in without a steep price. “C’mon, Summers,” Logan growled, slamming his piece down on the table. “You can’t hold on to everythin’ forever.”
- Scott, ever the strategist, crossed his arms and gave Logan a cool look. “It’s about making smart moves, Logan. Not just impulsive ones.”
- The argument escalated from there, with Logan accusing Scott of being too controlling and Scott firing back that Logan was just mad because he couldn’t win without brute force. Jean tried to step in and mediate, but even she was starting to look annoyed with both of them. “It’s just a game,” she said, though her tone was strained. “Can we all calm down?”
- Things weren’t much better on the other side of the table. Remy was still smirking like he had the whole game in the bag, which was driving Rogue up the wall. “You think you’re so clever, don’t ya?” she snapped after he landed on one of his own properties again. “You’re just gettin’ lucky.”
- Remy grinned at her, clearly enjoying riling her up. “Luck, charm—same thing, chère.” He winked at you, and you had to suppress a laugh as Rogue’s frustration visibly grew. She was clearly getting more competitive by the second, and you could see this Monopoly game was bringing out sides of everyone you hadn’t expected.
- Kurt, bless him, was still trying to keep things positive, but even he was getting swept up in the chaos. When he landed on one of Laura’s hotel properties and had to pay an outrageous sum, he threw his hands up in mock despair. “Ach! Zis is highway robbery!” he exclaimed, though he still managed to laugh. Laura just shrugged, completely unfazed as she collected her cash.
- As the game dragged on, everyone’s patience grew thinner. Logan and Scott’s petty feud continued, with Logan refusing to trade anything with Scott out of spite, and Scott calculating his every move to make sure Logan stayed far behind. Rogue and Remy’s playful bickering had escalated into a full-on rivalry, with Rogue purposely sabotaging Remy’s deals at every opportunity. Laura, meanwhile, was silently dominating the board, and Kurt’s earlier optimism had completely faded as he realized he had no chance of winning.
- You tried to stay neutral, offering to help people with trades and keeping the snacks coming, but even you couldn’t stop the inevitable chaos. As the tension reached a boiling point, Logan finally threw his hands up in frustration. “This is bull!” he yelled, standing up from the table. “I’m done playin’ this stupid game.”
- Scott, ever the leader, just shook his head. “You’re quitting because you can’t handle losing, Logan.”
- Logan shot him a dark look. “No, I’m quittin’ because this is the dumbest game I’ve ever played.”
- The argument continued, with Remy laughing from the sidelines and Rogue rolling her eyes. Jean had given up trying to mediate, and Kurt was just shaking his head in disbelief. Laura was the only one who looked completely satisfied with the outcome, having quietly won the game without anyone noticing.
- In the end, the game board was left in chaos, pieces scattered across the table as everyone stormed off in different directions. You sighed, knowing you’d have to be the one to clean it up later. But as frustrating as it had been, there was something almost endearing about the way everyone had gotten so invested. It wasn’t the peaceful game night you’d envisioned, but it had certainly been memorable.
- As you started picking up the pieces, Remy walked over and gave you a sympathetic smile. “Tough crowd, huh, chère?”
- You couldn’t help but laugh, shaking your head. “You have no idea.”

Headcanon #297
Shadow has no concept of the term “fashionably late,” so the first time Amy invited him to a party, he showed up five minutes early. Upon arriving, he was surprised to find no guests, a half-decorated house, several partly-made platters of food, and one very stressed-out Amy. She apologized for the mess and explained in a frenzy that she’d been too ambitious, as always, in her attempts to throw the perfect party so all her guests could be happy. She wrung her hands as she checked the time, lamenting that she’d never be ready by the time anyone else showed up.
After a curt nod, Shadow dashed off with no explanation. Before Amy could ask, he’d zipped around with his super speed and teleportation to finish hanging up the rest of the decorations. A moment later, he reappeared in a slight gust of wind and asked for further instructions.
Amy blinked and shook off her surprise. Knowing from experience that Shadow was far too dedicated to accept “you don’t have to do that” as a response, she hesitantly pointed out a few simple dishes he could finish up for her. Shadow wasn’t the best cook, but he was a quick learner and hung on her every word. With his speed and steady hands, he was able to frost some cookies, organize a charcuterie board, and set out the food just before the other guests arrived.
When Rouge found out, she shook her head and started to explain to Shadow what “fashionably late” meant, but Amy stopped her halfway through. She thanked Shadow profusely for showing up when he did and saving her. Although confused, he nodded and resolved to do the same from then on. In return, he insisted that she had to teach him how to cook so he could be of more help next time, and she eagerly agreed.
The two of them spent lots of time together in the process and coordinated on plenty of get-togethers with their friends. Shadow’s punctuality balanced out Amy’s perfectionism, leading to a more fun, relaxed atmosphere for everyone. One thing led to another, and the two of them moved in together, removing the possibility of “fashionably late” entirely. Shadow often stepped out for air during the parties, but he always kept a headcount of the guests and went back inside once he knew they’d all left for the night so he could help clean up.
No one would have guessed Shadow would ever be the type to show up first for a party and be the last to leave, but Amy had always been able to bring out unexpected sides of him.

“When’s the honeymoon, Mrs. Lebeau?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
X-Men vol 30 (Scott & Jeans wedding) Rogue x Gambit fanfic.
She was stunning. She wore a red lace dress, it reminded him of the one she wore for what was supposed to be their first date. He wondered if she’d matched her dress to his eyes just like he’d matched his tie to her emerald ones…
The wedding was quite different to how his was with Bella Donna, as Gambit sat next to Rogue at the ceremony he wondered what marrying Rogue would be like... would she want a big wedding? No, it would probably just be the X-Men, he wondered what she would do with all those curls, what kind of dress she would wear, what she would look like walking down the isle to marry him.
Gambit watched the ladies gather for the bouquet tossing and smiled as he watched his date fly up to catch the handful of flowers, much to the dismay of Jubilee.
Scott pulled the garter off Jeans leg and flung it. Remy took a page from Rogue’s book and used his cards to distract the other men as he caught the garter with his finger.
“Now mes amis… Y’didn think I’d give anyone else a chance t’slip this on the little lady, did you?”
He approached Rogue with the garter swinging around his index finger, a smile on his face.
“Guess we’re gettin’ married next, eh chère?” He leaned in close and whispered “Shall we take dis away from prying eyes petite?” He reached out his hand, and she couldn’t refuse the invitation. She followed him to one of the chairs left outside from the ceremony and sat, trying to remain calm as Gambit lowered himself to his knees in front of her and slipped her dress up her knee without breaking eye contact.
“You know we don’t have to-” she started
“Non. It’s tradition. ‘Sides, I blew up some of my best friends for this.” He smiled at her
“That you did Cajun”
He stretched the silk garter and pulled it over her foot and ankle, then up her calf and over her knee.
“Careful with mah skin Remy, wouldn’t want you in a coma.” She half joked with a tinge of sadness
“Non, we wouldn’t want that.” He said as he pulled it into place before leaning on her chair “where’s the fun in comas?”
“Putting you in one? Is that the fun?” She teased
“Scandalous Rogue…” he grabbed her gloved hand and pulled her up “but I think dancing is more our speed, for now leastaways.” He pulled her with him and wrapped his hand around her waist while he held the other in his hand as they swayed to silence. “Y’look stunnin’. De red almost match Gambit’s eyes.” He gave her a toothy smile that she returned as she ran her fingers over his tie and back up to his shoulder.
“An’ your tie nearly matches mine.” She looked into his black and red eyes that had been studying her all night. “Green looks good on yah.”
“Oui, but Gambit don’t look nearly as stunnin as you, chère.”
“Flatterer.” She smiled
“Not flattery when it’s true, non? Gambit be a lucky man t’go to de ball with you, Rogue.” He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed her gloved knuckles. “Who knows… maybe Gambit get lucky enough to marry you, eh chère?”
“Keep wishin’ Remy.” She said playfully, trying to hide the way her heart skipped a beat in her chest.
“Oh ah will mon amour. Every day.”

okay so i made a pinterest and seeing all the sonic headcanons is making me want to make my own so… SONIC HEADCANONS ‼️
Sonic is very forgetful and as such Tails puts sticky notes around their house reminding him of any errands he needs to run or things he has to do
Sonic loves to boast about Tails’ accomplishments. Sonic has the biggest ego but he’s also so proud of Tails that he will, much to Tails’ embarrassment, loudly proclaim how cool his inventions are
Amy loves going over to visit Cream and Vanilla to help out, and she loves baking with them
I don’t see people talking about Vanilla nearly enough, but i think everyone who knows her adores her and likes to help her out - she is a single mum, after all. Sonic will run errands for her, Amy will babysit Cream, Knuckles will carry her grocery bags for her, Tails will make her little gadgets and trinkets with Cream, etc. It’s all very sweet
Sonic takes a lot of naps. It doesn’t matter when or where he just plonks himself down and he’s out
Amy carries a polaroid camera around with her to take photos with her friends and then pin them to a cork board
I’ve seen this said before, but Silver is a history nerd
He’s also a giant trivia fan. He’s the kind of person that’ll memorise the dates that his favourite movies came out and then pull that fact from nowhere and his friends are all really confused as to why he knows that off the top of his head (No i’m not projecting. Shh.)
I also strongly believe Tails knows how to sew and has a sewing machine
Blaze, Shadow and Espio probably have a book club. Sometimes Tails and Silver will join them on their sessions.
Knuckles taught Amy some hand-to-hand combat. Boxing stuff, yaknow?
Blaze’s gloves are a lot tougher and more abrasive to withstand her fireballs
Sonic is a big fan of older things believe it or not. From classic fairytales and stories (thinking back to the storybook games), to retro music and 80s movies
^Side note, he also loves Michael Jackson’s music and i think he’d love Back To The Future
I also think that Silver likes Star Wars
Silver has a sweet tooth, but Blaze has a more savoury taste. Blaze’s tolerance for spicy foods is also much higher than Silv’s
Espio and Blaze are also big on candles, i think
Because Silver grew up in the literal apocalypse, i think he’s very adaptable. he’ll manage with what he’s got, and he’s very resilient
Tails prefers 2D animation to 3D. Charmy prefers 3D animation. Cream chooses to not get involved in the matter
Vector was in a band in his youth, just like he is now with Espio and Charmy. He wasn’t any better back then, but he also wears hearing aides now because he busted his hearing with his music too loud. He still hasn’t learnt his lesson from that.
Just shooting off a few for you! When my mental headspace gets worse Sonic is always my comfort fandom, so here i am, and i hope you enjoyed! Let me know if you would like more or if you had any ideas, i’m especially trying to think of some for Mighty and Ray, because they’re my special little guys goddammit.
Remember: stay way past cool!

I'm extra proud of this one :)
#30daysmusicchallenge2024 for Daughters of Darkness!
Day 23: A song by a band (artist) you want to see live:
Evanescence - Haunted
I wish I could see evanescence live during that time when they started their shows with this intro, it was truly haunting.
Haunted is the fifth track from Evanescence's debut album, Fallen. It was originally developed during the 2001-2002 demo sessions. Amy wrote the song and referenced a short story written by Ben.
Ben Moody's story about Haunted:
"A little girl around eight or nine in a little white Easter dress is walking down a neighborhood street bouncing a little red ball. As she approaches an obviously deserted large house with a sinister demeanor, her attention moves from the ball to the house. Not paying attention to her bouncing, the ball hits the curb and ricochets toward the house. As she chases the little red ball toward the house, the ball picks up unnatural momentum and bounces right into the huge gaping front door. The little girl pauses for a moment, looks up at the house, which now appears to be staring down at her, and cautiously enters the house in search of her little red ball. as she slowly walks into the atrium, she surveys the decaying mess that once was obviously a beautiful mansion. She becomes mesmerized by the exquisite detail of every inch of the banister winding up the seemingly endless staircase in front of her. Suddenly her thoughts are broken by a horrifying commotion. She whips around to run out the front door, but finds only a blank wall where the door once stood. Frightened, she runs down the first hallway she sees, trying desperately to find a way out, but with every turn the world behind her changes, bending to the will of the house, so that even finding a path back to the atrium where she began becomes impossible. Terrified, the little girl sinks into a corner, puts her head in her hands, and weeps.
10 years later....
The little girl wakes up in a panic, now a young woman. Dirty, scarred. She's now clothed in black pants, work boots, and a black wife beater. Her skin is pale and dirty. Sun has not graced her flesh in over a decade. She wakes to find a meal placed on a dirty silver tray before her, just enough to sustain life, just like every morning before. Placed there by a figure she can only see in passing, around a corner, walking through a door.... a figure that has become her only friend, and her only hate. Her entire existence has become nothing but to hunt and destroy this shadow that keeps her here. As she hunts him relentlessly day after day, she becomes lost in the dichotomy of her being. This thing that keeps her here, this person that repeatedly rapes her mind and watches her when she sleeps, has become her only friend. For if this person left, she would cease to exist. For she live only to kill him. But lives only FOR him. Every day the house changes around her, so that every day she wakes in a foreign land. The only constant... is him. She hears his heart beating, she smells him, she can only think of finding him, but he is also the only thing she knows of love."

I didn't realize how much people fundamentally misunderstand Eggman and Sonic both as characters and as a pair until now tbh.
No, Phantom Rider Sonic is not out of character for Sonic nor for Eggman. Let's look at right before Sonic accepted the Eggstreme Gear.
Going undercover is implied to be incredibly beneficial to Sonic, Tails, and Amy's plan, something Eggman agrees with:
Tumblr media
Eggman took a sabbatical after Eggperial City was destroyed, then came across Orbot and Cubot watching the Clean Sweepstakes opening ceremony, and didn't like that he was being mocked:
Tumblr media
He was at least happy to see Sonic and the Babylon Rogues squabble, but then Sonic got disqualified (which Eggman claims he hated because humiliating Sonic is his job), which gave Eggman an idea:
Tumblr media
Since Sonic was indirectly responsible for Eggman's inspiration coming back, he felt like repaying him in some way:
Tumblr media
And throughout the arc, Eggman is shown to have been honest about this (unless something happens in issue 74/issue 75). This scene from issue 69 sets up mutual benefit; Sonic can more easily create a diversion because he's disguised, Tails and Amy can more easily sneak onto the shuttle, and Eggman repays Sonic for getting him his creative drive back and also gets to watch the chaos that unfolds as Sonic disrupts the event as the Phantom Rider, which he wanted to do before Sonic, Tails, and Amy were disqualified (and Eggman gets to watch the event that mocked him get disrupted).
Sonic causing trouble on purpose for the benefit of the greater good isn't out of character, he just isn't usually so chaotic about it, nor that intentioned about causing chaos, because what he's doing doesn't require a chaotic course of action. He does it in Sonic Adventure 2 to some degree (this is made most clear, in my opinion, in the recaps before each level) and he literally tells Merlina in Sonic and the Black Knight "Guess I can't be the hero every time!" after being told "If you remove that sword and defeat King Arthur with it, you shall forever be the worst of knights, slayer of kings!" and proceeds to fight the Knights of the Round Table and King Arthur. That's just in the games, if we factored other media into this there's a lot more I could cover.
Now, to be fair, that tends to not backfire on him as bad as it could. In Sonic X, when he's destroying Eggman's mirror towers, everyone eventually realizes that Sonic is doing it for the benefit of everyone else; he doesn't care about that though. In Sonic and the Black Knight, once Merlina admits she was essentially scamming Avalon, Lancelot, Percival, and Gawain team up with him to stop her. In Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic's already a fugitive, so him causing some level of chaos to clear his name isn't something that really affects public perception of him.
In the comics, specifically the Phantom Rider arc, it does backfire on him once he's revealed to be the Phantom Rider, and there's some indication in issue 76's solicitation that there are going to be long-term effects in regards to Sonic being the Phantom Rider, meaning this would be the first time Sonic feels long-term effects for playing the villain (I'm actually surprised it took this long but whatever lol). The aftershocks might not be as bad once Clean Sweep is revealed to be untrustworthy, but there are still likely going to be some trust issues within Sonic's friend circle, which will be the worst ramifications we've seen from Sonic's chaotic good antics thus far.
Sonic is not against working with Eggman if there's a level of mutual benefit in it, and usually it happens because of some potentially world-ending catastrophe (Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic X, Sonic Heroes, Sonic 06, Sonic Frontiers). I actually think Jimbotnik sums this up best; "If I can't rule the world, I might as well save it!" However, Eggman is not above teaming up with Sonic if, from his perspective, the need arises, even if the world isn't about to end. If there's even a shred of mutual benefit, they are willing to work together. The Phantom Rider arc just has an example of them teaming up for, on Eggman's end, petty reasons.
Eggman's not above teaming up with Sonic if there's mutual benefit and Sonic's not above playing a villain for the benefit of the greater good. Phantom Rider arc is not out of character for either of them.

When you love your friend's au so much that you write fanfic for it
Based on @punkinspice's @shadouge-family-au ***
Everyone froze as the glass shattered on the floor.
Then little three-year-old Monty started crying because it scared him, quickly followed his twin sister Mabel, who cried because he was crying. Chase (who was five, almost six) simply looked at the glass mess and said “Oh oh.”
Amy tiptoed around the kitchen table to reach the crying twins, soothing them with gentle hugs and soft words. She glanced up at her husband.
Sonic stood exactly where he’d been when the glass had left his hand (by the kitchen sink). He stared at the floor, expression unreadable; a rare moment of him being perfectly still.
He’s normally fast enough to catch things like that, Amy thought to herself. “Sonic?”
No answer.
Any hid a worried purse of her lips, instead turning to her oldest. “Chase, you still have your shoes on—can you grab the broom for mama so she can clean up the mess?”
Sonic then seemed to jerk awake. “Sorry. I’ll get it.” He quickly left the room, not meeting Amy’s eyes. Amy heard the shutting of a cupboard, followed by Sonic returning with a broom and dustpan in hand.
“Let me help, Dad!”
Chase had gotten down from his chair and now stood by his dad amid the mess. Sonic looked down into his son’s eyes, and managed a smile—small, but grateful.
“Thanks, kiddo.”
Chase chatted away about what he wanted to do after dinner while diligently holding the dustpan in place. He made Sonic chuckle once or twice, oblivious of the tightness in his dad’s shoulders. Eventually, he and his twin siblings left the room to play. Amy stood and took the broom from Sonic.
“I’ll finish here,” she said, gesturing with her head at the living room. “Why don’t you go relax? It’s been a long day. I’ll join you in a minute.”
Sonic looked at her, his eyes somewhat distant, but he gave her a half smile and nodded. Amy heard him sigh as he left, noticing him shove his hands behind his quills as he plopped down on their woven pink couch.
A few minutes and a vacuuming job later (just to be safe), Amy came into the living room and sat beside Sonic. He stared up at the ceiling, frowning at nothing.
If Amy was going to get anything out of him, it was now or never.
“What’s on your mind, Sonic?”
Sonic sighed through his nose. He closed his eyes as if thinking of what to say. In the end, he gave a defeated shrug. “You’ve seemed on edge for a few days, now,” Amy said carefully. “Ever since our last fight with Eggman.”
Sonic’s eyes flew open. “I hate that man,” he spat out. He sat up, face scrunched with more choice, but unsaid, words. Amy stared at him, surprised at his strong language. Certainly it was universal knowledge that Sonic didn’t like Eggman (and frankly, Amy hated the man too), but to hear her husband say it outright in such frank terms was… unusual.
“Are you upset about the forest he ruined?” Another sigh. “Yes… and no.” Sonic leaned forward, pressing his mouth against folded hands. He took a deep breath.
“Do you… ever think about us as kids?”
Amy tilted her head. “How so?”
“You know… all the stuff we did.” Sonic stared at his shoes. How… crazy it was that we were kids?”
Amy took a small breath, understanding his meaning. She bit her lip. “Yes. All the time.” She waited for Sonic to continue, but he went quiet then. He began tapping his foot at the base of the couch—a nervous habit when he was thinking.
“My earliest memories are running,” Sonic said finally. “I was, I dunno—maybe four? Five? Chase’s age. I didn’t know where I came from or where I was going, and I didn’t care. It didn’t matter. I thought I was fine. I was fine! I couldn’t even talk yet, and I was fine! I just ran wherever the wind took me.” He took a shaky breath. “But imagining our kids in the same position just-!”
He cut himself off, burying his head in his hands. After a moment, he dropped them into his lap.
“We were so young.”
Amy nodded slowly. “We were very young,” she echoed. After a moment, she asked “Does that scare you?”
Sonic’s face scrunched again, but not in anger this time. “I was never afraid for myself growing up. I knew I’d be fine. But I was afraid for Tails, when he came into the picture. Some days I was so scared I didn’t know what to do with myself. And I guess, now… I’m afraid for them, too.” He ran a trembling hand down his face, forcing a laugh. “Heh… Guess things don’t change as much as you think they would, huh?”
“No,” Amy said, watching him, “I guess they don’t.” She put a soft hand on Sonic’s knee, leaning into him. “But I think that’s a good thing. It means you love them.”
Sonic sighed, his hand going to his forehead. “I just… I don’t know how to do this.”
“Do what?”
“Raise our kids! Especially when we’re practically badnik magnets! It’s a miracle Eggman doesn’t send a squadron after us every week!”
Amy rubbed his knee reassuringly. “Even if he did, you know Tails’ security system would warn us long before anyone was in danger.”
“I know…”
Amy thought a moment, then she leaned forward, trying to see her husband’s face. “You know, you know how to do this better than you think you do. You forget that you raised Tails.”
A husky laugh, almost desperate. “I didn’t know what I was doing then, either! It's a miracle that kid's even alive! I pulled him into so many things without even a second thought, and I had no idea how to raise a kid, I—!”
Sonic felt Amy’s hand on his chin then. It rested there for a moment, and then he relaxed just enough to let it guide him, lifting and turning his head so he could meet her gaze. Amy beamed at him, eyes soft and gentle. “And look how well Tails turned out.”
Sonic stared at her. Then suddenly he realized his cheeks were wet, and he went to wipe them with his gloves. Instead, Sonic found himself sinking into his hands. He gasped.
Amy started as her husband began to sob. A second later, she slid over again on the couch and encircled him in her arms, leaning her cheek against the side of his head, rubbing a soothing hand along his back between his quills.
“I don’t deserve you,” Sonic coughed out from behind his hands.
“I don’t deserve you,” Amy whispered back. She continued to rub between his quills. Then she kissed his head, feeling him tremble beneath her touch.
“Do any of us really know what we’re doing?” she eventually murmured in his ear. “We’ve never done this before, and that’s scary. I’ll admit, I worry about our kids sometimes too.”
She continued as Sonic struggled to catch his breath. “We don’t know what the future holds. But,” she said, a soft smile in her voice, “you don’t have to do this alone. You won’t be alone—I’ll be with you every step of the way. We’re in this together.” She kissed his head again. “It’ll be another grand adventure.”
A few more shuddering breaths from Sonic, and he gradually began to still. Then he nodded, though his head still rested in his hands. “Another adventure,” he whispered. “Like it’s always been.”
“Like it’s always been,” Amy nodded affirmative. She moved her hands to hug him around his shoulders.
They sat there for a few minutes, neither willing to move. They could hear their three little ones playing in the other room. Monty laughed.
“You know what I think?” Amy eventually asked. “I think that, with our kids along for the ride, it’ll be even more fun. More so than it’s ever been before.”
At that, Sonic finally smiled. “Yeah…” He lowered his hands, revealing it, then he glanced her way. “The more the merrier, right?”
Amy giggled. “Right!”
She stroked Sonic’s cheek for a moment. Then she stood and took Sonic’s hand. Surprised, he followed her outside onto their balcony. It had been built directly onto the tree that had become their literal treehouse, overlooking their backyard. Sonic stopped beside Amy.
“Woah…”
A vibrant explosion of oranges and deep pinks greeted them as the sun set over the distant mountains. They stared at the glorious sight, still holding hands.
“The beauty still gets me every time,” said Sonic.
“Yes,” Amy sighed.
After a moment, Sonic cleared his throat. "Sorry that I—"
“No. It’s ok.” Amy looked away from the sky and into her husband’s eyes. She squeezed his hand. “I’m glad you told me.”
Sonic’s cheeks tinged pink as he smiled, rubbing the back of his head with his free hand. “Tryin’ to be better.” Then he met her eyes. “Thanks for listening.”
Amy grinned. “Like I said: we’re in this together.” Then she pecked him on the cheek, which made Sonic laugh and blush harder. He squeezed her hand in return. He pulled her into a hug, his arms around her waist, head resting on hers while facing the sunset.
“You know… I may still be scared silly,” he said, “but there’s no one else I’d rather be with on this crazy new family adventure than with you.”
Amy now felt herself blush. “Oh, Sonic.” She leaned into the fur on his chest, smiling as the sun ducked behind the horizon. “Me too.”

I LOVE that this is a completely normal way for Sonic to make friends, to the point where his buddies either laugh about it or are just like "Not again, Sonic," every time he does it nowadays 🤣

being a companion's bf must be so annoying. like this is me, this is my girlfriend, and this is the alien from outer space who lives in a blue box and drags her around on fantastical, life-threatening adventures that she considers the single most important person in her life, above all others. her emotional support time lord, but also the guy who she's inexplicably & inextricably intertwined with on a level that you will never come to comprehend

Sonadow fanfic authors who forget how integral Amy was (and still is) to Shadows development and that she was the first one to properly reach him, and then write Shadow like he has no idea who she is beyond “Sonic’s friend” or “the girl who likes Sonic”

buck and eddie are ❌NOT❌ golfers, they're the least golfy men i have ever laid eyes upon - this is an issue i am incredibly passionate about and have been since 6x17 love is in the air, do not try to change my mind, it won't work. however, there is a way they could fix both of these issues in one fell swoop. so. buck goes golfing with gerard as part of the 118's meticulously hatched plan to get him not only out of their station but the lafd for good. buck is the obvious candidate, he's a cis white man who, in gerard's head, is half straight and that's all they've really got to work with. the problem? buck is truly and terrifically terrible at golf. clearly he'll need some tutoring in order for their plan to work. and buck's like "hey, eddie, you golf right?" so cut to the driving range, a cheesy sports film montage of eddie demonstrating how to swing and buck failing miserably, he looks a little flushed and maybe a bit distracted - wonder what that's about. anyway, sun begins to fade, we're going real campy humour, we break out of the montage and eddie goes to get another basketful of balls for buck to hit. he watches buck practice his swing and shakes his head. "alright, cowboy, this clearly isn't working". no shit. "maybe you should just go instead, show up with your half swedish side". eddie's not giving up though. he gets a little flushed and awkward and shuffles up to buck, scratching at the back of his neck. "it, uh, might be, um, easier? if i could... could i, you know, put my arms around you?" buck's mouth drops open in a little o, he doesn't say anything as he turns pink as the sunset behind them. "sorry, i made it weird, didn't i? forget-" "NO!" buck winces a little at his outburst. "i mean, uh, no, y-you didn't make it weird, that might actually work" so with the face of a man about to be sent off to war, eddie positions himself behind buck and wraps his arms around him, adjusts his grip on the club and leads buck through the motions of a good swing. everything's suddenly very tense and taut. they hit the ball, it's worse than any of buck's previous hits. it lands in the netting and only just rolls over the edge. there's an "ow - what the hell" from below. they freeze, buck begins to shake with silent laughter, eddie cracks slowly, then they're both giggling, trying and failing to muffle it, eddie buries his face in buck's shoulder and laughs, buck suddenly goes quiet, but he's still smiling. "if i knew all i had to do to make you laugh was be piss poor at golf, i'd have tried this the day after chris-" "hey, at least you haven't broken my ankle yet" "it was just a sprain" buck mumbles, eddie grins. "let's try again" they swing together once more, the ball goes soaring. buck whoops and does a dorky little victory dance and eddie looks at him, bathed in the light of the sunset, and oh, he's the most beautiful thing eddie's ever seen. buck runs back over "eddie, we've gotta go again, c'mon, c'mon" eddie breaks out of his trance "yeah, gotta learn to do it by yourself. i don't think gerard would appreciate you showing up with me on your back like a koala" and scene.
