I am feeling a way about Aelwyn continually inviting Adane to hang out at her apartment even though it's a disaster area with her ten ornery cats and scattered microwave dinner trays. I know a part of that is Brennan just wanting a reason to show the audience the very funny contrast from, "I came here to fuck!" to "Nooo Hector :(" But there's also something to her being like, "I want you here with me even though it will entirely ruin any possible remaining mystique around my cool girl persona"--something she absolutely still cares about in a general sense as she tells Adaine not to tell Fabian anyone else about what her apartment is like. It's one thing to be nice, but it's another to be vulnerable, especially when you've been raised in such a way that every weakness was used as a future attack--so much so that her entire brand of magic is protecting herself and not being vulnerable.

Hmmm just gonna spit this headcanon out in text post form since A. I don't think I could exposit it well enough in image form and B. It's not actually textually/thematically substantiated and I don't like actually staking my stuff on just vibes alone*

But anyway. I'd say it's pretty evident that all the islanders forgot their names, right? King obviously. Because why the hell else would he do that, but also Siffrin No Middle Names No Last Name.

They're 'pretty sure' they've 'always' been 'Just Siffrin' 'as long as they can remember'. It's a pretty cruel twist of the knife to say that they don't even get to keep their birth name as a memento, which is why I'm saying as such.

My utterly unsubstantiated claim is I think it'd be cute to say that Sisyphus *is* the name Siffrin initially picked, assuming the myth of King Sisyphus is recontextualised as idk, just a play or something in the setting. But I like the idea of Siffrin going 'oh shit 🫵 he's just like me fr' at a tortured fictional character long before the irony kicks in.

As for how Sisyphus -> Siffrin. I think that chronic mumbler and emotional doormat Sif just did not correct people who misheard the name during their time travelling, and went through enough places with incompatible phonologies (pronounceable sounds in the language) without ever really writing it down that it just got kinda. Changed until it was unrecognisable, and Siffrin just went with it until the earlier pronunciations slipped out of their swiss-cheese brain. And they just kinda don't remember any of that.

Also, something something the horrid realisation that Siffrin also named themselves after a King. Just not as blatantly.

*(though I think there's something here about Siffrin, a guy from a belief system that seems to thoroughly disincentivise autonomy and self-motivated choice continuously having their hand forced to make changes/choices they don't want but have no choice but to... It's not solid enough to really back this up tbh, but it informs it.)

grian doing a news anchor intro after joel has done at least two (with MANY weird intros under his belt) and starting to name his tools like joel (eg "hi joel" "i wonder if joel will notice i said hi") has made me think that grian has noticed joel has been having a lot of fun and started copying him and goofing around more often. like idk it feels a little bit like a "how do i have fun i know joel has fun i will study him to also have fun" and it makes me giggle but also i think its sweet how much of hermitcraft is just sharing ideas with each other. joel started doing silly intros and naming his tools stupid shit so grian followed suite using SCARS recording studio, a lot of them copy from each other on small things in builds (ie. the cat tails in the water or the hanging signs as fences) and take inspiration from each other and i think thats really cool.

the thing that interests me about kidquisitor is that if you have like a 12 year old fantasy protagonist that’s kind of normal but if you have two installments of dark fantasy about adults and then you open up the third installment with a 12 year old then you know shit is fucked even if the characters themselves, both the 12 year old and those around them, do not necessarily know or want to recognise that they are in the wrong genre for this

How about some Lost Anchor concept stuff I made last week.

Introducing Kikan!

Kikan is a forklift and one of the W.I.R.E. bosses. Her main stronghold is located in Tugger's Harbor. Kikan is always in a call or in a meeting. Despite her obsession for plants, Kikan's knowledge about them is quite basic. Once she learned that they can help reduce stress, she surround herself with as many as possible and there isn’t a single room in her facility that isn’t equipped with greenery.

In her early days, she operated as a scientist in a top-secret laboratory where she collected samples and analyzed bizarre creatures. One of her most fascinating subjects was a shapeshifter known as Coffin. Coffin could shapeshift into any vehicle, even models that had been discontinued for decades. This ability allowed her to create rare “spare parts”. As soon as W.I.R.E discovered her value, they quickly decided to murder and disassemble her, storing all of her parts in containers for future study and possibly cloning.

But it didn’t end there. Shortly after, Vessel, a vengeful shapeshifter stormed the building, leaving nothing behind but carnage and total destruction. Ignited a fire that eradicated every trace of research and claimed everyone inside. For Vessel, this act was intended as a warning and to be Coffin’s final resting place.

To put an end to Coffin’s nightmare and to mark the beginning of a new nightmare for W.I.R.E

Against all odds, Kikan managed to escape the inferno with a fragment of Coffin’s remains and data. Since that event W.I.R.E launched a secret mission to hunt down Vessel. To bring him to justice. Vessel on the other hand has been hunting them down

thinking about that theory where peter parker is the mcu's anchor being. and like. the possibilities of it. imagine learning your entire universe's anchor being, the person who pretty much controls the fate of the universe, is some guy who just doesn't exist??? not even dropped off the face of the earth, but there is no proof of this person even existing in the first place???? and maybe strange or the fantastic four or whoever feels responsible for/is tasked with finding and protecting this anchor being but that's kinda hard to do when you have Absolutely Nothing to go off of.

or alternatively, peter himself learning that the entire universe is basically relying on him staying alive, and he already has a lot on his shoulders but this??? having lost everything and everyone and now learning that the weight of the world is literally on his shoulders and fuck!!! he just wanted to be a friendly neighborhood spider-man but that's parker luck for you!!

and like. there's so many ways to take it and i haven't seen anyone considering this and guys. guys. consider it. take it and run with it or what have you. fuck it and throw doctor doom in the mix for the irondad girlies because surely that will be fun.

and i know i know the theory doesn't fully go hand in hand with the mcu cannon but. fuck the cannon. let me scream into the void about this. let me shove it in your faces and hope someone does something with it. let me have my silly where's waldo peter parker anchor being au.

thinking about gohan and vegeta and how their bond is underrated

the difference in their reactions to each other 😭

Gohan being the first one to step between Vegeta and Certain Death, twice, without an ounce of hesitation, and Vegeta saving him back despite his feelings about battle intervention.

Vegeta knowing Gohan's the best of all of them

Vegeta and Gohan both born prodigies assigned an unfair amount of responsibility to be Great and be a Saiyan Messiah(tm) way too young by a stubborn and proud if not (relatively) well-meaning father who didn't see any other option and I just think Gohan doesn't get enough credit as like. The first serious muscle behind Geets' personal growth.

WIP Wednesday - Anchored (my coming fic)

Just written - no one else has seen this description of Aziraphale waiting out a hurricane from his sailboat: "With every bit of sail and canvas removed and stored below, the only sound Soho made was the deep thrum of the wind, causing the tightened halyards to vibrate against the mast. The sound transmitted down the mast as it passed through the cabin before ending at the keel; Aziraphale could feel it in his teeth. Stumbling over the rolled sails lying on Soho’s teak sole, he peered out the port. With the rain rushing against the glass and Soho rocking in the waves, it felt like spinning in a blender. Disoriented by his inability to see anything outside the boat, Aziraphale sat on the mainsail to wait out the storm."

Although I have friends who have stayed aboard during a hurricane, I have not. This description is based on being at anchor on my boat during lesser storms. And yes, it does feel like being in a blender when you can't see anything outside and you're spinning around on the end of an anchor. Coming soon.
