I wanna know what Ikkaku knows about Urahara:

Like, do they... know each other? The visual suggests that someone in the scene knows Urahara was a captain, and it sure ain't Ichigo. So I feel like we're meant to understand that Ikkaku knows this.

Urahara's name also holds weight in terms of Ichigo's viability as an opponent, which suggests Ikkaku knows Urahara as someone other than some rando criminal, or just as a Mad Scientist type. It's Ichigo's movement that impresses Ikkaku, not his strategic craftiness.

I don't try that hard to keep the Gotei's 20th Century straight in my mind, but we do know that during TBTP Zaraki wasn't 11th Captain yet, and therefore Ikkaku may not have been in the Gotei at that point then, ether. (There's a whole dispersal of 11th backstory filler eps, which I've been assuming aren't in the manga in any form, but who knows, maybe some of this backstory info also holds true here, too. In the anime, Ikkaku and Yumichika follow Zaraki into the Gotei.)

In any case, apparently Ikkaku has a whole Seireitei family (see: TYBW), so maybe they were well-positioned for all the hot TBTP goss regardless of whether Ikkkau was enlisted at the time.

Or does everyone just know who Urahara is? Obviously, he's a poorly kept secret at least as far as his outpost goes; he's made a whole business out of it. But if Rukia knew he'd been a captain she doesn't harp on it.

And if there's something you can count on me for, it is knowledge of random-ass Hitsugaya panels:

Hitsugaya says he doesn't know who Urahara is. Well, he's heard the rumors about Urahara, but says Urahara is someone whose true nature can't be ascertained. He probably does know what Urahara used to be a captain. He's heard that he's formidable, and probably isn't someone to let your guard down around. Which, really, is all the things we know Ikkaku knows about Urahara. Hitsugaya's just not willing to extrapolate further based on rumor alone. Maybe Ikkaku is.

But based on how Urahara's name influences the way Ikkaku chooses to fight Ichigo, I feel like Ikkaku is not operating solely on rumor, either. Someone's battle prowess/skill as a mentor doesn't seem like something he'd accept without firsthand knowledge, even if he's willing to roll with it for other stuff. So I feel like it's perfectly defensible to argue that even if Ikkaku wasn't actually in the Gotei while Urahara was in the picture, he still had an ~encounter (and probably not while Urahara was in his Innocent Shopkeeper era).

Maybe Ikkaku ran into Urahara in the woods when Urahara was off making an impression on Kuukaku [1][2]. Or Ikkaku's Seireitei family sic'd the Onmitsukidou on him while he was off playing hooky in Rukongai! Tons of fun possibilities!

Of course, this raises the time-honored question of what, if anything, anyone in the current Gotei knows about TBTP. Because it really seems like they know nothing, and didn't even know there was something to not know. But for a lot of them that might be an effect of their willingness to pretend they know nothing? So I feel like you could go in a lot of directions with that. Not to have blorbo disease again, but Hitsugaya seemed like he was learning Vizard Lore in real-time during the Winter War, so apparently it's not like, part of some kind of Area 51 folder you gain access to when you become a captain lol. YOU HAD TO BE THERE. (BUT ALSO SOMETIMES NOT EVEN THEN)

Great civilizations made their houses out of the things they had lying around. Clay for bricks. Snow for igloos. Glass for nudist colonies. With all the microplastics floating throughout the ether, why can't I make a house out of Bondo®?

Bondo has a lot of benefits: for one, it's easy to sculpt. It provides some decent insulative qualities. Animals can't peck holes in it and live inside, unlike my friend Sylvester Raccoon, who it turns out is actually a kind of wood-pecking bird. You can paint over it in any colour you like. Tools are widely available to sculpt it And, unlike the cars we use it on, it won't rust. In fact, there's really no reason we shouldn't be using it for all of our homes. I'm sort of a futurist, in my rad kind of bluey-white polyester resin home.

Of course, there is the cost issue. Buying just a little can of the stuff will now set you back approximately the GDP of New Mexico (Old Mexico is still somewhat more profitable.) I didn't let this stop me, though, and I knew that the local auto body shop would chuck it into the dumpster out back only a few weeks after its expiry date had passed. I also knew that zapping said Bondo in the microwave for a few minutes would make it pliable again. Sure, doing so also totals the microwave, but that's why Best Buy has a return policy.

Ultimately, the only real downside to the whole thing is the smell. Even when top-coated with the finest Rustoleum Shitbox Gray that I could find at the hardware store, a really hot day will make it smell like I just repaired some rust. And that makes me feel guilty about not having used all this body filler on any number of my sad, hole-filled cars. They can wait until I'm living in them, I figure, which might be any day now, if Sylvester finds his way to shorting out the breaker panel again.

Different Meeting AU Part 3 Ayo??

This part was kind of long, but it’s a lot of filler stuff so I figured I would just post it all

“Wait, lab as in Hawkins National Lab?”

“Yeah, I don’t know all the details of this part since I didn’t get looped in until the very end but Dustin knows what happened.” Steve had started at the beginning, explaining how Will had been abducted by a monster from another dimension that night in ‘83 after a little girl raised in a lab accidentally opened a gate. Unfortunately, as he had said, Steve only knew the broad strokes of what happened the first time around. He glances at Dustin, silently asking him to start filling in the details of that first year, and god bless that big brain of his, because Dustin starts talking.

“Yeah, after Will disappeared, Mike, Lucas and I snuck out to go look for him-“

“I didn’t know you did that-“

“Hush, Steve, now isn’t the time to act like my mother-“

“I would be so lucky to be Claudia-“

“Oh my god, whatever. Anyway, we snuck out and in the woods we found El, Eleven. She had no hair and was dressed in a giant yellow t-shirt with no pants or shoes, so we brought her back to Mike’s and hid her in the basement. We slowly worked information out of her, including that she had been raised in the lab, and she saw Will get taken. She’s the reason we call it the Upside Down, she saw a picture of Will and kept flipping it upside down to show where he had gone. We call the monster a Demogorgon because that’s what we were fighting in our campaign the night he got taken.” Eddie is staring at Dustin in shock, eyes flitting around to everyone else in the room to see if they’ll show he’s bluffing - no one does. At this point, Steve pipes up.

“The night they found El was also when….you know how I refuse to swim in my pool?” Eddie looks at him, eyes creasing in confusion.

“Yeah?”

“That’s because, that night, I had a small party. I was just starting to date Nancy and I wanted to impress her, so I invited her, Tommy H, Carol, and Nance’s friend Barb Holland to my place.”

“Didn’t Barb-“

“Yeah, this is what really happened to her. She had cut her hand shotgunning a beer, and Nance had gone in the pool, so I took her upstairs to get changed. Her and Barb had a fight - Barb never liked me, and I can’t blame her - so Barb stayed outside by the pool. The next day she was missing. We only found out what really happened because Jonathan had snuck into the woods behind my house to take pictures of Nancy and got one of-of us getting undressed in my room-“

“That’s why you broke his camera?”

“Yeah, that’s why. But the pictures he took showed Barb suddenly disappearing from by the pool. That’s how he and Nancy started talking in the first place, she saw Barb in one of his photos. We later found out through El that Barb died in the Upside Down version of my pool.”

“Holy shit, Stevie, no wonder you hate that pool.” Eddie pulled Steve closer, both of them needing the reassurance the other could bring in that moment. Dustin coughed gently to get their attention before he kept talking.

“Around this time, Hopper was starting to look into the lab, and then the fake body was left in the quarry. Nancy ended up finding a small gate at some point and went through it, I don’t know when that happened-“

“I do.” Steve interjected, having figured all this out from his own timeline.

“Did Nancy tell you when that happened?”

“No, but I went to her house the night before it all came to a close. I found her laying in her bed with Jonathan and all the lights were on. I figured out after everything was over, when she mentioned having been into the Upside Down and Jon helping her get out, that must have been the night she went in. That was also the night that led to the infamous movie theater graffiti and my fight with Jonathan.”

“I always meant to ask, but I didn’t want to upset you - did you do the spray paint or did someone else?” Robin spoke softly, clearly still wanting to be gentle about her question, and Steve gave her a soft smile to show his appreciation.

“Tommy did it. I’m pretty sure he had a crush on me, looking back on our interactions, and he was so mad when I told him I found Nance in bed with Jon that he took in upon himself to shame her. I was too mad when she confronted me to tell her I didn’t do it, especially because at the time I didn’t fully disagree. I also said really shitty things to Jonathan to get him to fight me because I was so mad. The whole reason I ended up at the Byers’ house that night was because I was trying to apologize to Jonathan for what I had said to him.”

“That’s how you got involved? I thought it was about Nancy?” Steve shakes his head at Dustin.

“No, I realized that Tommy and Carol were shitty people and ditched them before going to clean up the graffiti and then I went to the Byers’ to apologize. Nancy answered the door, she had a cut on her hand and the house reeked of gasoline so I worked my way inside and saw weapons all over the place. Nancy pointed a gun in my face and told me to run, I didn’t but when a monster jumped through the ceiling, I ran. I ended up going back inside and that’s how I got the bat - it was Jonathan’s but it was by the door and they were both cornered, so I grabbed it and helped them beat back the Demogorgon and light it on fire. We thought we killed it, but it ended up going to the school.”

“School? Why the school?” Eddie was sort of following, but the mention of the school throws him off. Dustin steps in with an answer though.

“The Middle School, it’s where we were. Before Nancy and Jonathan went back to the Byers everyone was at the middle school with El. I don’t know if you’ve picked up on it yet, but El has super powers and she said she could find Will in the Upside Down. But she needed a sensory depravation tank, and the only place with that much salt was the school. Mike, El, Lucas and I stayed at the school after she found him so Mrs. Byers and Hopper could go get him and Nancy and Jonathan went to distract the Demogorgon. Unfortunately the people from the lab found us - they had been searching the whole week and had found us at Mike’s before we ran for it. El ended up killing a bunch of them before the Demogorgon arrived and she ended up sending it back to the Upside Down, disappearing while she did it.”

We all thought she was dead, but it turned out that she had been hiding in the woods and Hopper found her and took her in.”

“Hang on, you guys were what, 12?”

“Yeah, but that’s besides the point. That was only year one.” Eddie blinks, taking in all the information being handed to him.

“Year one? This has happened multiple times?”

“Yeah, about once a year or so.”

“Jesus H Christ. Alright, go ahead, explain year two.” Steve speaks up this time, before Dustin can.

“I know about this time, so let me. Will spent a week in the Upside Down, which ended up giving him a permanent connection to the place and he ended up getting possessed. The kids called it the Mind Flayer, since it controlled the Upside Down and stuff. At the same time, Dustin found a weird slug thing from the Upside Down and decided to keep it as a pet, for some reason. It ended up eating his cat, because it was from a hell dimension, what else would it do-”

“It was for science, Steve!”

“Whatever, Nancy and I had a huge fight at a Halloween party and I went to apologize, which is how I got roped into helping dustin track down his demon pet. It gets kind of blurry at this point, everything was going really fast, I remember making a trail of raw meat along train tracks to the junkyard and fortifying an old school bus with Dustin, Lucas and Max, then I fought off a bunch of demodogs-”

“Demodogs?” Eddie looked to Dustin for clarification.

“Demogorgons grow like frogs, so they start as little slug things and about halfway through their growth they look like dogs, with a tail and four legs. So, demodogs.”

“Alright then, continue I guess.”

“Right, so we fight of the demodogs before the get called back to the lab by the Mind Flayer. Everyone meets up at the Byers’ house to plan and figure out what’s going on with Will. This is when we figure out that he's possessed and that the Mind Flayer has been building a series of tunnels under Hawkins. Plus, the gate at the Lab had been opening further and further in the year since it was first opened. So we all split up again, Hopper takes El to go close the gate, Mike, Jonathan, Joyce and, after I told her to go, Nancy take Will somewhere to try to get the Mind Flayer out of him, and I'm stuck babysitting.”

“How did they get it out of him?”

“It likes it cold, so they just blasted his was as much heat as possible. Kind of like an infection, I guess. You have to sweat it out. I remember the start of this next part, but not the end. I was on babysitting duty, watching Dustin, Lucas and Max, when Billy fucking Hargrove shows up. He had been after Lucas ever since he saw him and Max hanging out, racist asshole - sorry, Max.” Steve glances over at Max who just shrugs. “I told the kids to stay hidden and stepped outside to get him to leave, but of course none of the children could stay out of sight and he spotted them. Pushed right past me into the house and cornered Lucas, talking about how he's going to kill him. I, of course, got in the way and started a fight. It was pretty evenly matched, until he broke a plate over my head. After that things get pretty blurry, and I don't remember much except waking up in the back of Billy’s car with Max behind the wheel.” Max snorts.

“Yeah, you were really out of it. In order to get Billy to stop, I had to use the sedative we had used on Will. I then took Steve’s bat and nearly caved in his balls, told him to leave me and my friends alone, and then he passed out. We dragged Steve’s body to Billy’s car and drove to the pumpkin patch, which had an entrance to the tunnels. Our plan was to light them on fire to give El a distraction. Steve was pretty incoherent but the adrenaline helped him stay moving. We got a huge section lit on fire and got out of the tunnels before Steve collapsed again - Lucas drove that time, bringing us back to the Byers’ house. Thankfully Billy had run off so he wasn’t there when we got back. Hop ended up bringing Steve to the hospital that night because he wouldn’t stop puking.”

“Because I had grade 3 concussion!”

“Yeah, whatever, it was still gross. But, yeah that was year 2,” Max finished, shrugging as if to say ‘this is no big deal’.

“That’s what happened to your face in ‘84?” Eddie looked at Steve, tracing a small scar under his eye with a finger.

“Yeah, not the last time I got my face beaten during one of these though.”

“That’s not very reassuring, Steve.”

“Yeah, I know.... this part is, well, you're probably not gonna like hearing about it.”

Eddie gulped before nodding, “Alright, go ahead then.”

“This happened last summer, it ended on the fourth of July-” Steve watched the realization dawn across Eddie’s face.

“This is why you came to see me?”

“Yeah, it is. I'm not sure about all the Billy-Mind Flayer stuff, but I do know that at some point in late June, Billy got possessed by the Mind Flayer. But because the gate was closed - sort of, but we didn't find out about that until later - the Mind Flayer needed to make a body for itself. It started having Billy flay people, or at least that’s what we called it. He basically replaced them with pieces of the hive mind that could sort of melt into a flesh monster. At the same time, I’m working at Scoops Ahoy in the mall with Robin and Dustin comes home from summer camp, talking about a Russian transmission he picked up on his radio tower thing-”

“It’s called Cerebro, Steve, and I was trying to contact Suzie when I picked up the transmission.”

“Right, Cerebro, well Dustin comes into Scoops and tells me about the transmission and we start trying to decode it-” Robin holds up a hand awkwardly.

“That’s where I got involved, I'm good with languages so I helped translate but all we got was a stupid code. I don't think I would have made sense of it if Steve hadn’t figured out where the transmission was coming from though.”

“It’s not that big of a deal, Robbie-”

“Yes it is, Steve. The transmission had music in the background, and Dustin and I were too focused on the words, but Steve kept listening to the music and figured out where it was from. The music was the song you hear from an Indiana Flyer horse ride thing, which meant that the Russians were in the mall somewhere.”

“Steve, that’s insane.” Eddie grinned at him along with Robin as Steve blushed.

“I just remembered a song, Robin figured out what the code actually meant - it was linked to the supply company for a bunch of different stores in the Mall. So we decided to do a stake out and saw them go into this secret locked room at the loading bay. Erica got involved at this point, because we needed a way in and the only way was through the air ducts. We got into the room on the 3rd, but the door locked behind us and suddenly we were falling, because the room was also an elevator. I have no idea how long we were stuck in there before we were able to sneak out behind the Russians who came to collect crates from the elevator. After walking for miles, we found the central hub and, unfortunately, the gate the Russians were opening. They built a machine to open a gate to the Upside Down under the mall, and Dustin and I started to panic at that point. We also set off the alarms so we had to try to run, and got cornered so Rob and I told the kids to go and we.... got captured.”

“You-... you were captured by Russians???” Steve sighed, Robin coming over to sit on his other side and hold onto his calf.

“Yeah, I knew by that point that Robin talked when she was nervous, so I started yelling so they would focus on me and it worked.”

“Sure, it worked, but it got you tortured, Dingus.” Robin squeezed his leg gently, a reminder for both of them that they were okay.

“I’m sorry, tortured? Did you just say tortured?”

“Yes, I did. I don't know what they did to him, he won't tell me, but I heard the screaming and I saw him when he was dragged in. I didn’t think he was breathing at first.” The hand Eddie had on the back of Steve’s neck squeezed a little, pulling him a little closer.

“That’s what happened to your face?”

“Yeah, they came back once I came to - they had tied Robin and I back to back in chairs - for some more interrogation, but when that didn't work, they came back with some blue shit in a needle and they injected us both-”

“Getting drugged at a club-”

“Yep... I don't know what it was, but it was strong. They came back once it had kicked in, and just before they ripped out one of my fingernails, Dustin and Erica burst in with stun batons and they helped us get out. I remember bits and pieces of the next hour or so. I remember watching Back to Future for a little, then running out to drink water, and then we were puking in the men’s bathroom.”

“Jesus christ, Steve. No wonder you were so nervous that day.”

“Things got pretty fast after that. We narrowly escaped being captured by the Russians again, everyone else showed up and the Mind Flayer showed up not long after that. I drove Erica and Dustin up to his radio, then I hit Billy Hargrove’s car with my car - didn’t know he was possessed at that point, by the way, just saw him driving at everyone with Nancy shooting at him.”

“Of course you did, that’s incredible.”

“We started leading the Mind Flayer away from the mall, Hopper, Joyce and their friend Murray, I think that’s his name, had gone down into the base to close to gate. But halfway through our drive, the Mind Flayer turned around and we had to go back. Thank god for Lucas, he had grabbed a ton of fireworks earlier in the night, so we had those to use as weapons. I don't remember all the details but Billy ended up letting the Mind Flayer kill him to protect El, and then the gate closed and it collapsed. At the end of the night, Hopper was dead and so was Billy. I also discovered an interesting development in the parking lot, that no one can get mad at me for not sharing-”

“When you say that, it makes me feel like I'm definitely going to be mad at you,” Robin glared at Steve as she spoke.

“So, I may or may not have realized that I couldn’t fully hear out of my left ear anymore.”

“And you didn't say anything, WHY?”

“It felt like we had more important things to deal with.” Steve looked away from Robin, who was still glaring at him and saw Eddie looking like all the pieces of a puzzle had suddenly been put together.

“That actually explains so much, like how-”

“Please, do not finish that sentence, I know where it is going and I am begging you, there are children present.” Eddie just grinned.

“Fine. Is that... is that everything? Crazy alternate dimension with man-eating monsters, a little girl with super powers-”

“Actually, she doesn’t have powers anymore. We don't know what happened but she had been attacked by the Mind Flayer before we got to the mall and it did something to her powers,” Max added, the only one who hadn’t been in the Russian base in the boat house.

“Okay, so no more girl with super powers, but still a hell dimension with man-eating monsters? And my boyfriend being tortured by Russians?”

“Yeah, I guess that’s everything.”

“Well shit, at least I’m not crazy. Looks like we have to figure out what’s causing this stuff this time though. If it helps you guys at all, Chrissy did say she felt like she had been going crazy, and I think she was seeing things.”

“That sounds like a curse, like-” Dustin and Eddie make eye contact.

“Vecna’s curse.”

This Week in BL - KISSES galore

Jan 20232 Wk 2

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

My School President (Fri YT) 6 of 10 - The mutual squealing and kicking and rolling over in bed was v cute. Tiw might actually be the greatest BL wingman of all time, yes better than Namgoong. Friend zone? Cute GMMTV, very cute. Elevator kiss, on the other hand = you little shits. Also, I’m mad you made me watch the MV because there was no way to skip through it without missing stuff. Tricky bastards. GMMTV = cute, shitty, & tricky all in one ep. Guess that’s why they’re the top of the Thai BL food chain. 

Never Let Me Go (Tues YT) 5 of 12 - We knew that this pair kisses really well, but for the characters that was a pretty stellar first kiss. I liked that we got to see Palm really want something for a change. Up until now, he’s been a pretty passive character, constantly told what to do by others, this is the first independent choice his character actually makes in this narrative. Meanwhile the action part of the bodyguard plot has begun, which makes me happy. Let the forced proximity cohabitation trope commence! With probably at least one running through the woods holding hands to come.

Between Us (Sun iQIYI) 9 of 12 - Basically a filler ep with in-your-face backstory we already sussed. Prem is doing a good job tho. WATCH ALONG HERE.

609 Bedtime Story (Fri WeTV) 8 of 11 - There was no GamesVee. I’m sad. 

Cutie Pie 2 You (special) 2 of 4 - Awwwww, how sweet they tried to give it a plot. Operative word being: tried. 

I Will Knock You (Fri Gaga) 9 of 12 - Stuff in tents. Lots of cringing blushing maiden bullshit. Noey = v bold and into public claiming. I’m not wild about this one. 

Remember Me (Sun Gaga) 14fin - Honestly, they were branded pairs so we knew ManTitle were goona kiss, but I kinda wish they hadn’t bothered. These characters just didn’t work for me as a couple. Marriage equality stinger* on this puppy. Still, what a slog. I’m only binging stuff from this studio henceforth. (Next one: Buddy Line Y Animal). Whatever. Frankly that’s my review of the show: whatever. 5/10 

* I do like that this drama teased a marriage and then intentionally never gave us that marriage on screen. For all romance genre fans, this would've felt like a slap in the face. Instead they put in a stinger that essentially said “if you want a marriage scene between men, legalize marriage in Thailand, you fuckers.” And ya know, I’m here for that. 

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

The New Employee (Korea Weds Viki) 4 of 8 - Ooo first date. Omg they are SO CUTE. There was a lot of squealing and flapping of hands on this side of the screen with the show. Also two out gay boys! Korea how far you have come in just a few short years! If adorable our baby boy’s 2 fag hags don’t get together by the end of this show, I will be a touch disappointed. (It has to be said. I’m not expecting it because this is still Korea doesn’t do sides in BL. But hope springs eternal.) Meanwhile, I like that there was actual desire expressed with these two. This is definitely one of the gayest BLs to have come out of Korea in recent years. If you’re confused like I was, that pen has the initial of baby’s ex crush from uni on it. 

HIStory 5: Love in the Future (Taiwan Weds Viki) 3 of 10 (or 6 of 20) - Classic that Taiwan has finally given us a femme character in a BL and he is predatory & evil. The secondary couple is the most adorable thing, I even forgive them a pratfall kiss, because there was a 3 piece suit involved. I am starting to like the main couple a little bit more, mostly because of the rich kid character. I love domesticity, and Taiwan always does it so well. The main character time traveler whatever remains a bit annoying, I prefer a sunshine archetype that is not intentionally naïve to the point of stupidity. Still, I’m invested. This is classic HIStory franchise. 

Candy Color Paradox AKA Ameiro Paradox (Japan Fri Gaga) 4 of 8 - It’s a bit too much second hand embarrassment and cringe for me. I hope Japan someday gives us a BL like Eternal Yesterday, where both characters are cool and no one dies. Incidentally, if you’re playing a game of spot that BL actor, the one playing the “actor character” is Izuka Kenta  (from The Novelist and Absolute BL2). WE LOVE HIM. 

The Director Who Buys Me Dinner (Korea Weds iQIYI) 9-10fin - I honestly don’t know how I feel about this one. It was more of a red thread fated mates who are fated to repeat the mistakes of the past. Shall we call it faded mates?  And I’m not sure, even though the ending is somewhat optimistic, that I am actually optimistic about it or them as a couple. So I wouldn’t call it HEA. 

Final review? Featuring a gorgeous & stellar cast, TDWBMD should have utilized them less for melodrama and more for chemistry. This BL is a unique twist on an office romance if NOT a unique twist on a doomed red thread trope, resulting in it feeling less than the sum of its parts and ultimately unsatisfying. Possibly this had to do with the fact that this was one of those KBLs where I felt how short it was the whole time, like I was missing something constantly, in every episode. No HEA. Favourite thing about them?

I love his sincere desire to change the world for the better, as well as his love of others and hope for a better future. Of course, it's not just hope but also a DRIVE to make the world better. He just seems like such a sweet, hardworking dude, and if he was real I would love to know him.

Least favourite thing about them?

The fact that we don't get to see more of him. TBF, he died well before the start of Naruto, so we only see him through memories (and that one weird Infinite Tsukuyomi filler story, but I digress.) I want to see how he'd interact with MORE canon characters, I want to see MORE of the original Akatsuki, and I want to know MORE about the Hidden Rain Village.

I'd love a spin-off miniseries about the Hidden Rain Village.

Favourite line?

I'm not always the best at memorizing lines, but I'll go with this one, where he sets out to go on a mission to scout out an area.

Obviously he is besties with Konan and Yahiko, they have a truly inseparable bond. I also imagine that he was close with each and every member of the original Akatsuki.

Sadly, there are only a few characters we see him interact with in canon, and many of them are minor.

In a happier timeline where nothing bad happened and the Hidden Leaf was magically not corrupt at all, I could see him being friends with Naruto.

OTP?

Nagato/Yahiko/Konan. They have a deep bond, forged through their collective efforts to endure many hardships. To me, it's as if they are destined to be together and to always develop a deep, intimate care and affection for each other. Even if they were to reincarnate, they'd find each other once more.

He learned how to do a lot of basic repairs, so that if the shack got beaten up, he could fix it. I could also see him loving children.

My man's underrated. I feel like most people tend to either forget about him or just think of him as the guy that became the Deva Path. I mean... I get why, but I wish he was more popular. How can you not love him?

I am very neutral on him, so my apologies for some lame-ass answers. Also, i felt like I spent a lot of time writing my opinions on Yahiko.

Favourite thing about them?

His abilities were neat, as one of the few who could use Wood Style. i also respect how he tried his best to keep Team 7 in check and (later on) help rebuild the Hidden Leaf after Pain destroyed it.

Least favourite thing about them?

The fact that he was sidelined for most of the War Arc, serving little use outside of buffing up Zetsus. IDK, that was kind of disappointing.

Oh, I also feel weird about the fact that he's supposed to watch Orochimaru in Boruto. Like, if we treat the anime backstory as canon, dude should be traumatized by Orochimaru.

Favourite line?

That one where he threatens to use "draconic measures" on Team 7 when they keep arguing and fighting each other, I guess.

Kakashi once they are both adults. Sai after he is free from Dan's control, since they could relate to each other a lot (especially if you treat his anime backstory as canon.)

1. what are three things you'd say shaped you into who you are?

Novo Amor's music, Lockwood & Co. (the books and the show), and Endeavour. i picked a few more recent things that have shaped me for this one ^-^

9. tell a story about your childhood

so this probably started when i was like 9 and continued on for the next 4-5 years, but when i was a kid i had this little tiny pink Littlest Pet Shop mouse that became my constant companion. i was crazy over books that featured mice as the main characters (A Nest For Celeste, Tumtum and Nutmeg, Redwall) and i had an extremely active imagination. so i carried this little mouse (whom i named Cherry) with me everywhere i went, and i do mean everywhere. if she wasn't in my hand, she was in my pocket. she had a whole personality and many complex plotlines and i spent the majority of my time crafting little miniatures and building little spaces for her in my room and outside and pretty much everywhere i could. but one day, i misplaced her somewhere. i never did find her. 10 years later, i still wonder where she ended. i found a replacement for her in another LPS mouse whom i named Raspberry, and later on my mom let me buy a small lot of LPS mice off of eBay with my own money and my new favorite became a little brown mouse whom i named Cassie. Raspberry stayed a very prominent character as her aunt, and Cassie even had a love interest at one point named Ralph (yes, a reference to Ralph S. Mouse by Beverly Cleary).

i still have all of them somewhere, besides Cherry. i still enjoy making miniatures sometimes, but all the fun i had with those mice is probably the thing i miss most about childhood. i miss always having a mouse in my pocket.

20. favorite things about the night?

fireflies (you would not believe your eyes), hearing frogs and coyotes and crickets sing, seeing shooting stars, and that very specific earthy, loamy scent in the air on spring and summer nights. these are all also some of my favorite things about living out in the country.

24. what's one thing you're proud of yourself for?

going to the hardware store on two separate trips this week and picking up wood filler and sanding pads for working on my camper that i'm renovating. i feel daunted by all the stuff i need to do before i can move in but i'm proud of myself for chugging along despite feeling overwhelmed. i know it'll be so worth it in the end!

28. do you collect anything?

i do! i collect a few different things, but one thing in particular is marbles. i have a pretty big marble collection. i don't do anything with them besides look at them XD i like to look for jars of marbles at antique stores and buy them if they're not too expensive. i used to actually play marbles with my younger brother, but neither of us were very good at that so now i just collect them for fun.

Relationship status: married to @unloneliest! this year will be our 10th anniversary (from dating) which? wild. we were babies.

Current obsession: i mean, always my comic @farragone, I'm very close to finishing the coloring for an episode right now and am! very excited for how that's looking! a little out of context screenshot! they.

but also recently got a shelf and discovered it was in much rougher shape once it was getting cleaned, so I learned how to refinish wood about it! and did that intensely for 3 days

the before, after I sanded & added wood filler, and after!! dragon shelf!!!

I'm also getting top surgery in a month, so, definitely very focused on getting stuff prepared for that! bought some very cheap shirts today that can get wrecked if they must, dealing with boring paperwork etc.

Last thing you googled: was trying to order vegan wings and suffering about it since the place we originally tried to order from wasn't actually accepting online orders, and the place we did order from did not have any descriptions of their sauces. So doing a search to see if anybody had even posted any photos or reviews, while slowly losing my hungry mind over how large their menu was.

I am starting this post early. And because of day lights savings, the sun is still out. Which is honestly really nice. I have had kind of a hard day. And there isn't even a good reason. I just feel exhausted. And I haven't been able to shake it. So I am writing this early in hopes I can sleep earlier. Which I have been struggling with so much but maybe I can make it happen this time.

I struggled to get comfortable last night. And woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and Sweetp bit me on the calf for not giving him a cuddle. But I was able to fall back asleep.

I struggled to get up. The sun was in my face at 9 and I did not want to be awake. I would just lay there and played on my phone. James came and laid with me but they pulled my hair really hard by leaning on it and I screamed and then I wanted them to leave me alone. And I was just really upset. I wasn't having a good morning.

I tried to shake off my upset feeling. I decided to take a shower and wash my hair first thing. And that would help a little. But I was still just. Very introspective today.

While I was doing my makeup and getting myself ready, James came in to our room and we decided we would go to ace and buy paint and work on the living room wall and the hallway ceiling. A good plan.

We drove over there. And I was shocked how windy it was. It was blustery and loud. I was feeling quiet. But I was enjoying being with James, even if I wasn't feeling amazing.

I had never been in this Ace before and it was really nice. The workers were all really nice. But the paint was very expensive! I wasn't expecting that. But James said they wanted to support our local store. Fair enough.

While James was getting the paint we chose (white for the shelves, blue for the hallway ceiling), I wandered through the store. They had some good stuff. And was a lot less overwhelming then the Home Depot. I will for sure be over there plenty for my projects.

While I was wandering I remembered we also needed wood filler. So I would stop and ask someone and they were very kind and have me excellent directions to find it.

I would get the store brand. And me and James went to pay and headed out.

The world was very stinky??? Apparently the restaurant on the corner was getting their grease cleaned and James said oh yeah that's some of the worst smells and it takes forever. So that's disgusting. But we headed out of there quick.

When we got back here I would jump into filling the gaps and holes and such on the bookshelf and the wall. While James got started painting the hall ceiling. And it is such a beautiful color. I cannot wait to have that project finished because it's so lovely so far.

I would get as much filled as I could. I mostly used my fingers rather then a tool and it worked great. And once that seemed like it was in a good spot I realized I was just. Beat. Like I thought it wouldn't be to to bad. I wasn't using so much energy. But that apparently was the end of it for me.

James made me a quesadilla for lunch. With corn salsa and avocado. It was really good. They played a few rounds of their video game. And we would decide to go to the grocery store while the filler and paint dried.

I mostly just wandered around the store. There wasn't much I wanted or thought would make me happy. I had made a Pinterest board of meals and so we would get some of the stuff on that. And I got a few snacks. But mainly I was just wandering. Following James. Looking at packaging and seeing fruits I've never seen before.

James kept asking if I was okay. I was just really tired. What I should have done when we got home was go to sleep. But I did not. And I regret it.

When we got back here I would sand down the wood filler. Trying my best not to give our house the landlord special.burbhabfinf my hands up and sanding for that long made me so tired. I got most of it done and had to tap out.

James would take over. And I appreciated that a lot. And I would spend the next couple hours just being an absolute couch lump. While James sanded and painted around me.

It is looking so good though and I'm super excited a out how it's coming together. Like it's honestly the best and I'm so excited.

James made me tortellini for dinner. And would give me a little cuddle. And asked me to let them know when it was 7. Can do.

At 7 I let them know because they were going to go talk to their friend about a book. But the. All of a sudden change of plans! Mr Will was coming over!!

I was so excited to see him. And while the living room is not as tiptop as I would hope when showing off a place I was still really excited to show him everything.

We gave him a little tour and he liked the changes and colors and the plans we have. He looked at the dip in the floor and we discussed tearing up the carpet to see what's going on. And he is going to come back to try and sort out the hot water in the shower.

He played with Sweetp, rough and tumble like he always does. And Sweetp loves it but also it makes my allergies so crazy and apparently that means me wheezing and struggling to breathe again. I thought I was better but apparently I just have this happen now! Ugh. I stepped away to take my inhaler. And we would sit in my studio and chat for a while. It was just so nice to see him. He's such a good guy. He told us that apparently Ms Tina accidently bought yellow paint for the apartment. So he's waiting for her to hate how it's looks, which is very funny to me.

He just left a few minutes ago. So I had paused writing this but I am back now. James is back to painting. My breathing is improving. And I am tired but not as sad. The excitement of showing off the house made me happy. I can't wait to show it off more.

Tomorrow I'm back to camp. We never had the video call Elizabeth talked about. But that's alright. We'll find stuff to do. I have a schedule to write and some feild trip emails to send. And I'm sure they have Sarah some kind of list. Fingers crossed.

I need help with ideas for a comic I want to make.

This is the first Tumblr post I've ever made, so hopefully I'm doing this right, sorry it's so long, I don't know if anyone will even see this post, but there's a comic I want to make with some of my OCs and I'm pretty good at coming up with roughly how I want the story to go, like how it starts and ends, but not so good with coming up with what happens in between. Like filler and stuff.

The basic plot:

Two 14yo boys (best friends) are at a summer camp and while exploring the woods they find a crashed spaceship with an alien inside, adventures ensue with the alien for the rest of the summer camp. At the end of the camp, a spaceship -following the alien's distress signal- brings the alien back home.

Random info:

The two 14yo boys names are Timothy and Chris. Chris is kinda nerdy while Timothy is more adventurous.

The alien's name is D'mitri. He is an adult.

There is also a turtle named Pete, but he's not really important to the story.

The camp is not boys-only.

D'mitri does speak a different language, so miscommunication might be an idea if his translator doesn't work quite right.

D'mitri also has some unique characteristics -he is an alien after all- and I will get to those characteristics later.

I don't really want romance to be a major plot point, Timothy and Chris might get together at the end of the story though.

I am a fan of cryptids and stuff, but I don't want the story to be super focused on stuff like that, it's supposed to be more "an alien has come to earth and now two teens have to deal with it" / "an alien has crash landed on earth and now has to deal with two teens". There can be a little bit of spooky stuff, but I don't want it to be the main plot.

My main plot problem is how D'mitri interacts with the camp since he's not really supposed to be revealing himself to humans. He couldn't hide as a camper since he's an adult, and the counsellors would probably notice that he's not one of them.

D'mitri basically got adopted by Timothy and Chris despite the fact that he's older than them.

D'mitri knows very little about Earth, so that's an idea or two.

I have never been to a summer camp so I have no idea what goes on there. Please give me info.

Chris is totally geeking out about the fact that there is an actual alien at his camp.

One idea I have is a camper being suspicious as to why Timothy and Chris are acting so weird. Kinda like Wes from Danny Phantom.

Alien info:

I had way too much fun coming up with ideas about what exactly D'mitri is, stuff about his planet, the language, and more, so this might be a lot.

D'mitri is what I call a Luranian. They're aliens from the planet Luran.

Aliens from that planet can also be called Lurans.

Luran is a largely aquatic planet with rainforest-like biomes covering the land. Aka, it's wet and damp.

Luranians are mostly inspired by amphibians/reptiles, so they have a few characteristics of stuff like that. Such as, larger lungs to hold more air and skin that can breathe air through water (like frogs) because they're underwater alot, larger feet (kinda like flippers) so they can swim faster, a little bit of webbing between appendages, they're also a bit bigger than humans, and most obvious, chameleon-like skin. Basically, they can change the color of their skin and hair to blend in with the enviroment. Their skin/hair is usually cool colors like dark blue and green, but they can change it to any color they like. So D'mitri is able to look human, except for the fact that he's slightly bigger. And his eyes can't change color to normal human eye colors, unlike his skin. Luranians' skin do unintentionally change color due to emotions and stuff sometimes.

I have been working on a written language for the Lurans, and the language sounds mostly like chirps, whistles, clicks, etc.

There is another type of alien in their universe called a Rolasian (from the planet Rolas), but they never show up in this story. If you are wondering, they are inspired off of bugs. I will make a post about them eventually.

And each kid number for the kitchen could be used and then you just put them off vacations like addendum and really with the metal frame and the way he's talking about making it you can make the whole kitchen out of it and it would be really cheap. You're like $300 for a whole whole kitchen for the size of the house in Northport that the countertops would have to be light. Hera I came up with the power where it could be like this metal frame and then he went nuts with the door and I went nuts with the facade the face another side is a face where you can use panels and clip them on and it's like permanent so they have this really cheap idea and you can raise it up with the frame and you simply put like plywood down on the bottom and you could have cabinet to drawers and everything with the frame it's just a cheap frame it's really easy to put together but everything would be supported by metal frames instead of all this wood and saves tons of time and money and the kitchen as well as modular if you break a piece or a door you order another one that comes like a day and the only thing is they're so cheap that nobody would put them in no tons of people might in apartments and condos so I'm going to check into it

this is how to do filler guys. this is it. 2 pannels to one page. Obviously it's bad but I could have drawn the trap imaginings in the gutters and moved the speech bubbles around AND I should have drawn pannels around the bottom part. And obviously you'd be redrawing it. I'm not trying to disrepect Ryoko Kui by, like, having there be 2 marcille's as if she wasn't communicating it well enough by having it be just once her waving it behind his head. Us watching his hand gesture will see her wand. But the thing is, comics ARE about drawings and text and I think we relay a lot on text as an audience. and you can see she's talking about her magic, which humans have represented this mysterious power in wands and staves. but it has to be more charades-y or your eyes will start to glaze over.

Ok, I'm making some progress. I finally patched up the holes in the wall behind the fridge. The actual patching took me less than five minutes. And now I'm actually thinking of rehanging the overhead cabinet I removed (had to remove it to fit the new taller fridge I got, but I could rehang the cabinet higher). If I rehang the cabinet, it will cover the holes I patched up. So I didn't need to patch them after all. Isn't that dumb? 🤦🏻‍♀️

On the other hand, the only reason I'm thinking of rehanging the cabinet is because I successfully rehung another cabinet and now I know how to do it. 9 months ago when I removed the cabinet above the fridge I didn't know how to rehang it. It was also a 🤬 to remove and weighs a freaking ton, thought I was going to seriously injure myself. No way was I going to try and rehang it!

I'm not sure how I'm going to go about doing it myself though, since I only have two hands (the other cabinet I was able to do by myself, not going to get into explaining why but basically because there's a countertop underneath that cabinet and there isn't a countertop underneath this one).

Well, we'll leave that dilemma for another time. The point is, I've patched up the wall now and the next step is to paint it.

Here's the putty/plaster stuff I bought to fill the holes. Cost me all of five bucks.

Of course, when I went to go find the putty knife, guess what I found?

Remember I said I was loathe to buy a whole new container of filler when I thought I already had one somewhere? And then I figured I had thrown it out? Guess I hadn't thrown it out after all 🤦🏻‍♀️

On the other hand, this one is wood filler, not really for drywall, although for tiny nail holes it's fine to use. But it is pretty hard and probably needs to be thrown out anyway.

Looks like ice cream. Strawberry and mocha. 🍨

Oh right! Before I patched up the wall, I vacuumed up the dust, crumbs and cat hair that had accumulated underneath and behind the fridge.

As you can see, it's not too bad as it has been less than a year since I last cleaned back there.

Most importantly I vacuumed the vent for the fan at the back of the fridge. If you own a fridge, you should clean this up every once in a while (once a year?) to keep the fridge running well. The fridge needs to be able to circulate air properly in order to run, so keep this vent clear of dust. Otherwise you're gonna have expensive fridge problems.

I have a tendency to spot flaws and then go overboard trying to fix them...sometimes successfully, sometimes not.

I had this laser-cut dice box done up with my personal design, but they did a...suboptimal job gluing it together, so both parts are really warped and have huge gaps on some corners. (Not sure why they don't deliver it flat for self-assembly.)

All the gaps in the joints were filled with Milliput and sanded down by hand so the joints were (more) flush. It might have been easier if I had actual wood filler, but short of going to a Real Hardware Store™ the stuff seemed to come in massive tubes or something, so I just went with using the Milliput I already had.

I kept mixing more putty than I needed so I also fixed the broken soap dish in my shower (it came that way when I rented the apartment). I suppose that's closer to a use case the stuff was originally developed for.

Then I stained it with Army Painter Strong Tone Quickshade (mostly because I have a lot of it). The putty didn't take on the color, so I gave it a layer of very thinned-down Dirt Spatter paint. Next I painted the "burnt" wood color back on with Dark Wood Speedpaint and gave it a couple of coats of varnish.

I had given in and bought spray varnish for another project – I don't like using spray paints because I have to use them on the balcony and they are sensitive to the ambient temperature, but the first generation Speedpaints are notoriously bad about reactivating in contact with liquids and will come right off when applying paint-on clearcoat.

It still wobbles slightly on the table but much much less noticeably. I had to take a LOT of material off one corner (all manually with sandpaper so its hard to get it even). I didn't bother trying to level the lid, to make sure I didn't mess up the design.

I have far more dice than would fit this box anyway, so I'm probably going to use it for storing jewellery.

MLW Fusion 159 Review/Recap

Hey all, another week, another MLW Fusion recap. Let’s get right into it. We start with Richard Holliday, showing us his morning routine. Oh, it’s an ad for health food. I… didn’t expect that, but alright. We then get another recap, this time on Hammerstone vs Nduka.

We can hear the crowd over the commentary. I sure hope that doesn’t persist. We have Cosmos from Mucha Lucha Atlanta. Haven’t heard of this one, but alright. his opponent is Star Rogers, also from MLA. Alright, so this is another indie match, similar to the wildcat stuff on NWA. If you read my NWA reviews, you know I’m not a huge fan of having a purely indie match when you have other people on your roster to showcase, but hopefully these guys entertain.

They trade submissions, and then some more athletic moves such as dropkicks. They then do more athletics and do some smaller mat pinning type stuff but it feels quite slow. Their strikes also don’t feel that strong. Cosmos hits a decent looking sunset flip type deal, though. He then hits a tope. Star hits one that looks better imo. He then hits some chops on Cosmos on the outside. Apparently these guys are also from IWA Puerto Rico? I dunno why they mentioned MLA, but alright.

Ad break, and when we’re back they do more counter wrestling stuff. Cosmos gets a two count. He takes the lead and hits some chops in the corner. Star also gets a two count. Cosmos gets hit with a gorebuster I think they say? He lads a bit scary, almost looked like he landed on his head. They’re both down.

Cosmos hits some lariats and a tiltawhirl esque ddt for another two. Star hits a jump up neckbreaker for a two. They trade some chops on their knees. Cosmos hits a standing spanish fly for a two. Star hits a top rope spanish fly for the win.

This was bad. Not because of these two guys, I get it. They’re guys from the indies who probably haven’t had a lot of work or opportunities most guys we see on this show, or at all do. They were probably cheap to book. It was probably a breather match in the middle of tapings. But they decided to put two unsigned indie guys in a match and take up nearly half of the episode. That’s not good use of your airtime.

If they just cut this match short, or booked one of these guys with a name with more experience, it would’ve been acceptable, but these guys got way too much time for what should’ve been a filler match. If this was my first experience with MLW, I wouldn’t be hyped – they’re lucky me, and I assume most of their other fans, have seen good stuff from them in the past to want to stick with them.

Anyhow, we see a pic of Hammerstone at the hospital and see his injury from last week, and ouch, it looks gnarly. We see EJ in the same parking lot from last episode. “How you tackle me but you knock your damn self out?”. Considering EJ is a former footballer, that’s a pretty good burn in my opinion. He still tries to get the himmy neutron thing over, though, which is not as good, but hey! I’ll take that entertaining line.

The Samoan SWAT Team chatter a bit. Maybe it’s because I’m feeling a bit adhd but I didn’t quite understand much of what they said. There’s a fucking ad for a Blumhouse movie? It’s about an evil baby or something. Everytime I see ads on MLW, it’s for wrestling related stuff. That’s weird. Anyways. Mads cuts a promo. He wants to face Hammerstone, but Mance fucked with him, so first he’s gonna take out Mance.

We then see Mance in the woods. He’s continuing the Doc Gallows joke, and it’s starting to get a bit old now. Microman is here, though, with a butterfly net. We see a flashback to the number 1 contender’s women match. Flammer cuts a promo. That’ll happen next week. We also have mance vs mads in a tables match. We see Bomaye Fight Club cut a promo on the Opera Cup. It’s now the Bomaye Cup of the gods.

We got the main, SB Kento vs Davey Richards. The two lock up, trading holds. Davey takes him to the corner, but Kento kicks him in the chest, then wails on him in the corner. Davey whips him out and then run around a bit, but Davey dropkicks him out of the ring. Kento takes off his shirt and strangles Davey with it. Surprisingly, I haven’t seen a spot like that before.

They now brawl on the outside. Kento slams him on the ring apron. After ads, Kento is in control. He stomps Davey in the corner and hits a running dropkick, going for a two count. He goes for some sort of submission on the ropes. Davey hits some strikes. They fight for position, but Davey hits a double stomp. Kento tried to hit a sunset flip on him but Davey fought it, so he was just standing there pretending to try not to fall down. It looked stupid.

Anyways, they exchange strikes. Davey hits a dragon screw on Kento. He gestures to the crowd, for a bit too long imo, prior. He then goes to the top rope and goes for a stomp, but SB dodges. Davey then gets him in the trailer hitch, but Kento gets the ropes.

They then trade some holds some more – Davey hits a handspring but gets caught, and they then trade kicks, and Kento hits a german for a two. Kento goes to the top ropes, but Davey climbs with him. He hits a big superplex for a two count. He grabs an ankle lock for a second, but runs to the ropes to hit Kento. They then exchange strikes. Kento hits the ropes, but gets a kick to the head and a german. Davey then hits a lariat and a brainbuster for a two. Davey instantly gets the ankle lock and wraps around the leg with his body. SB taps out.

Rich interviews Davey, and he says he’s coming after Alex Kane. I thought he’d get ambushed, but nope.

Well, that was my least favourite episode of MLW so far. The first match was a huge waste of time in my opinion. Kento and Davey was alright and I didn’t make a big deal out of it, but that sunset flip spot looked quite stupid and took me out of the match which I wasn’t super into to begin with. I didn’t care for any of the promos other than the end of Mance’s and EJ’s. Also I just realized, at the start of the show they told us Cesar was fired from being a matchmaker and they’d tell us more, but they never did.

I’m still interested in the two main feuds to keep watching as well as MLW proving to be entertaining before, but like I said, if this was the first MLW show I saw, I wouldn’t wanna tune in for more. To be honest, I’m not super hyped about next week’s episode, either. I’m not a huge Taya fan and Flammer didn’t impress me. I just hope Mance and Mads deliver, as well as what other matches or promos they have. Either way, I’ll be there, and as always, the next post I’ll do will be a NWA recap. See you next time.
