So I was asked to expand on the whole Jamil having a trauma response to Leona comment on my last post, aaand here's that.

(This pertains to chapter 6 btw, so spoiler warning)

(also it's very much sleep deprived rambling so sorry if it's, well, rambly)

First off, I'm operating under the assumption that he has cPTSD. Jamil has clearly been programmed since birth to always obey the Asims and act in their best interests, even at the expense of his own life. This is a boy who has been forced to eat poison to protect them and their assets, who's family was forced to let that happen, and who has been so desperate his entire life to escape that situation that he was willing to resort to murder and doom not just himself but his whole family which he is implied to care about. Which means if simply quitting was an option, he would have done so. So, you kinda have to infer that he and his family don't have a choice in this role, and there are severe enough consequences for disobedience that fucking up or refusing is a worse option than risking a slow painful death every time Kalim wants to eat something. And this is all stuff that's been depicted blatantly in canon, not even touching on the assumptions that could be made from there.

So that's the position Jamil is in. That is a traumatic situation. This is a guy who has been groomed for servitude and obedience since he was old enough to talk. These kinds of circumstances absolutely can lead someone to be triggered into subservience or other trained behaviors. That's just, a thing with trauma.

Now, with the Asims being one of if not THE most powerful merchant families in their country, one of the expectations of Jamil as their servant and especially as the attendant to their heir is to ensure good relationships with other rich and powerful families, especially royalty. This was shown in the fireworks event, where he states that as a prince, if Malleus came to any harm under his watch while a guest of the Asims, it could start an international conflict. These are incredibly high stakes, a misstep on Jamil's part could ruin the Asim family and potentially even endanger his country, and it's pretty strongly implied that he and his family would take the blame and suffer the consequences. Now, much like how wearing a company logo while at work makes your actions representative of your employer, Jamil serving the Asims 24/7 (and especially as the chaperone of their heir) means that he is representing their family At All Times. This is why he is forced to defer to Kalim in all aspects of life even outside of their country, part of his job is to make his employers look good, and there are consequences for not doing so. This means that anyone of high enough status to be significant to the Asims is someone who Jamil is required to be subordinate to.

Then, enter Leona. As a wealthy prince, he would be someone who Jamil is expected maintain good relations with at any cost to himself. With his position Leona could literally destroy Jamil's (and probably his family's) entire life with a single complaint to the Asims about his conduct. Like, he could do that with no actual cause just for fun, because the Asims are 100% going to take the side of a prince over an expendable servant. This means that one misstep or any backtalk from Jamil puts him at massive risk, it is entirely up to Leona whether or not he suffers for any of these actions, and while the audience knows Leona's personal morals would prevent him from actually doing that, Jamil does not.

THEREFORE (sorry this ended up so long), once Jamil was in a life threatening situation with Leona, it seems likely that all this programming and fear would manifest in desperately trying to protect him and follow orders the way he's always done for Kalim. To me, the way he snapped into bodyguard mode, and immediately complied with every one of Leona's bitchy commands (like giving him a hair ornament to throw away without question, and barely saying anything about it after), even while being humiliated and knowing he was less trained in magic, just comes off more like a trigger response than anything. Especially because I can't imagine that situation not being triggering, and I can't imagine him knowing any other way to respond.

been such a long time since i had any thoughts on g.enpact but some preliminary thoughts for a g.enpact verse for some of my muses before i pass out:

Jing Yuan: either a high ranking member of the millelith or a liyuen wanderer. definitely adeptal in nature, though whether he's full adeptus or just a descendant is something I haven't decided yet. I know he's lion-coded but he also has very very heavy White Tiger themes so I might draw inspiration from that instead? electro vision, currently unsure of how to classify his glaive (it's heavy and long.... probably claymore)

Gepard: definitely snezhnayan but i got nothing beyond that because i need to read the lore.

Yingyue: Actually had a genshin verse for her from years before! I'll probably end up revamping it but she was a hydro spear user and adeptus that tended to keep to the shore, since she was a dragon that lived in the sea. didn't have much aside from that smh. personality wise will likely end up merging Yingyue and Meiyu

Veturas: also had a verse for his human counterpart where he was a fatui pyro agent by the name of Misha but once again I need to read up on the lore. very quiet and loyal man tho

WIP Whenever

I sadly don't have any drawing WIPs that aren't top secret, but I am still currently working on my long fic, The Gauntlet. This chapter involves the reader going out on the town with Papa II 😏

Seeing him outside of the Ministry was like being with an entirely different person. Without the skull face paint, ornate robes, and clergical responsibilities, he seemed a lot more relaxed and laid back when previously all I knew him for were his austere sermons and harsh glares. 

We finally pulled up to an unassuming building with a line of people waiting out the door. Despite the back alley location and nondescript buildings surrounding it, there was a booming bass that could be felt beneath my feet. Ever the gentleman, Secondo helped me out of the car, my hand cradled in his gloved one. As the ghoul drove off, we headed towards the front of the line, much to the annoyance of everyone waiting. The bouncer merely nodded to us - or more accurately, to Papa - in recognition as he let us in. A small neon green sign was the only indication of the club's name - Zenith. 

The moment we stepped foot inside it felt like every single bone in my body was vibrating. The dance floor itself was on a level lower than the entrance, the mass of pulsing bodies mesmerizing. Even if this wasn't my typical idea of a night out, I couldn't help but be pulled in by the intoxicating aura of alcohol and sin mixed with the thumping bass. 

Secondo wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me in close to him, hand splayed over my hip. I thanked Satan below that the club was dark enough to hide how flushed my face was. I wasn’t sure how he was able to see so well as he was still wearing his sunglasses, but he easily led me further inside, starting us off at the bar. He must have sensed how tense I was, pulling me closer to him and ordering me a colorful cocktail. 

"For the nerves, eh?"

I took it gratefully, nearly downing half of it in one go. He chuckled, ordering himself a drink as well. Once my inhibitions were sufficiently numbed, I figured it was as good a time as any to show Papa a good time, as Chloe had advised me. I gently took his hand, the leather smooth against my fingers as I pulled him onto the dance floor, putting on my best attempt at seduction. It must have been effective because he followed my lead without hesitation, an easygoing smile gracing his lips.

Kiba’s Blood Demon Art

While Inosuke’s sense of touch was so developed that he could feel the slightest disturbance in the air around him, Kiba’s blood art goes even beyond: he can control the pressure of the air in a certain radius around him, with varying degrees of precision.

He usually starts a fight using only his claws and raw strength, or the broken blades that he’s wedged inside the bones of his forearms. Kiba will only resort to using his blood art if the fight gets serious.

As an unranked demon

Kiba can increase the air pressure around an enemy enough to keep them pinned. An untrained human or low-ranked slayer will remain trapped, while Kiba takes that chance to gouge their organs out.

He can create ripples in the air that act like shockwaves, strong enough to send someone flying or to break bones.

Instead of increasing the pressure, Kiba can also lower it, and make it harder for a slayer to breath. He will utilize this as a last resort, as he mostly enjoys fighting slayers at their prime, so his victory will only taste better.

Since Kiba’s reflexes as a former slayer haven’t entirely vanished, the way he controls the air is connected to his breathing rhythm. A very perceptive individual might notice that the pressure alleviated ever-so-slightly when he takes a breath in, and use that chance to try and escape.

A particularly strong individual might be able to move despite the increased pressure, though their blood vessels might rupture under the effort.

As a Lower Moon

Kiba has gained a greater mastery of his blood art. Its range has broadened, from even greater mass destruction, to being able to pinpoint spots smaller than a fist.

Kiba can flatten a small village in a single outburst. He can create shockwaves devastating enough to tear down houses, much like the effects of a bomb or a sudden tornado. He will mostly use this for fun, to prove the extent of his power, because this has the unfortunate effect of reducing any human in the way to mush. Mush doesn’t taste as good as fresh whole flesh.

On the opposite, Kiba can now apply his powers to extremely specific spots. As long as the spot is within his eyesight, he can increase of decrease the air pressure there. He will use this option to make a slayer’s lungs implode, or to grind their bones without even having to touch them.

His powers have become almost unescapable. A lower-ranked slayer stands no chance. A highly trained slayer/Hashira might find the courage and strength to move despite the pressure, or distract him enough that his focus relapses just for a second. The best way to avoid getting your lungs blown is to constantly be on the move.

Kiba’s senses are heightened overall. He can detect a slayer’s presence from miles on end. The more powerful, the easier they are to notice.

so I am not immune to the rock n roll richie/soft folk eddie agenda bc I love a good contrast but I hc richie as having like good relationships with his parents and sharing their vinyl records and bonding over music and stuff so I usually think of him as having like old soul music taste

honestly I was looking up late 80s/early 90s music that would fit Eddie the best and I think like all teenagers all the Losers would absorb each other’s music tastes in some ways but I’m landing on R.E.M. for Eddie for some reason:

“It’s the End of the World As We Know It” has the kind of frantic hyper-paced lyrics that would really just vibe with Eddie when he’s on a tear; “Everybody Hurts” works for when he’s in his feels; “Nightswimming” is a nostalgic love ballad that perfectly fits the idea of summers spent swimming in the quarry with Richie; and of course “Losing My Religion” is just so good as like a semi-angsty rebellion song for Eddie trying to figure out his life post-clown summer while also dealing with his ever-increasing, always-confusing feelings for Richie
