#and have no idea what it is like to live in latam
Goodreads recommended books for hispanic heritage months is so funny because it's really easy to tell when a book was written by a latin american and when one was written by a usamerican with latin american heritage.
Like. The children of immigrants always seem to use words and names in spanish mixed with english to make it known that they are latines. Like the hacienda, hello mi amor or whatever. The books whole appeal are about them being hispanic
Meanwhile latin american authors get translated and they give no hint of any heritage in the title until you read their name. Because for them the experience of being latin american is not the main part of the plot, but the background
No shade. It's just interesting how there's this whole market that uses the "exotism" of being latin american in the us that romanticizes an idea that is often very different from the reality

What did Dan say about Mexico?? I haven’t watched WAD but there have been other times when Dan has made a comment about. countries/people where I’ve just been like ‘🤨😬’ like in a sims vide where he made a ‘joke’ about native Americans
I got some asks about this same topic but I’m using this one to answer all of it!!
basically in one of the wad shows (obviously not in the recorder version) Dan was talking about how Mexico (and Brazil) wouldn’t get to see his tour because it was a first world country tour, not a third world one. Which, even if it was a joke…. it’s so ????
joking about how pretty much all of Latin America is some uncivilized territory that couldn’t fathom see his tour is so tone deaf and insulting. Specially after the whole interactive introverts fiasco where yes, maybe they had some organization problems and whatever, but they never really addressed it or apologized. I know they did some kind of dvd screening and q&a in Brazil, but Mexico didn’t get anything.
I’ve seen some people arguing that it’s that some countries are not as openly lgbt friendly as others, but then again, that is so reductive. The idea that Mexico or any latam country is incapable of having gay shows is simplistic. To act as if latam countries don’t have tours where lgbt creators have been is insane.
Don’t get me wrong I’m really happy they’re touring again and people are getting to see them. And maybe they don’t want to even tbc some countries in case it doesn’t happen, but to outright just exclude some regions (im talking about latam because that’s where I live and know, but it’s pretty much the same with Asia and Africa) because you think we’re not fit to see the show or the language difference or whatever it’s insulting to said audience.
And this is not me trying to cancel them or whatever, I do however think they should at the very least inform themselves about their latam, Asian, African, etc. fans and not make them feel as if they basically don’t exist. A great deal of their audience is from said regions, and to outright exclude them is so reductive to the care and love we as fans give to them

Hello Vita!! I absolutely loved your headcanons with a partner from a different culture.
Being Spanish (Andalusian specifically, which is a exaggerated and stereotyped version of Spanish, hahaha), I think you nailed it with a Spanish and a Mexican as a couple. The accents are... aaaaaaaaah I love them, I don't know if you like the Spanish accent, but I really like Latin accents (by the way, did you know that the actor for Sanji is from the Canary Islands and in the Spanish dub he dubbed himself with a Canary Islands accent? so cute...).
And that idea of big families, that feeling of knowing the ingredients in a meal and thinking we control what we're going to eat but then... it's SUPER SPICY aaaaaaah!!!! water!!!!!, hahaha you made me laugh with that.
By the way, the fact of asking if we're pregnant I think is international! You also made me laugh with that!
I totally buy into the idea that Mihawk has a Spanish mom and a Romanian dad. Honestly, when I watched the live action without any prior knowledge of One Piece, I was blown away seeing that handsome character with that Spanish music in the background! The music fits so well with his aesthetics... and the cross on his chest... being Spanish, you may or may not be religious, but we can't deny that crosses are part of our culture.
By the way, I went to a show in France where a Frenchman fell in love with an Andalusian woman in the XVII century (a beautiful story), and the soundtrack was this. Specifically, starting from the minute I've shared with you, that instrumental part totally gives me the vibes of Ghost Rose and Mihawk, I hope you like it and it inspires you to write more about them!
Greetings from Sevilla! :D
Tumblr media
Hello, Jin!! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me 🥰
Yesss, the accents 😚 It's always so much fun to hear all different spanish and latam accents. Ohhh, Taz Skylar's voice was 🫠 I started watching OPLA first on english but I switched to latam spanish pretty soon. Iñaki was sooo cute and they let him talk in mexican (there was a Chapulin Colorado reference!!!) and then ch 5 came and Sanji spoke... My god, his voice is so sexy... It's so rare to have this variety of accents in latam translations, they didn't even gave colombian accents to Encanto 🥺
Big families, salsas not-spicy (lie, they are), medium spicy and totally spicy, a wall full of crosses... That's some of the mexican package 😂 Pro tip: just water don't make the trick, drink milk to get rid of the spicyness in your mouth sooner. Horchata water do it too, there's a reason that's the beverage they would have by default at any restaurant, even street food.
I've been munching for the longest time about Mihawk's heritage with all the little information we have about him and the vibes he gives. If not for the crosses, including Yoru's shape, he would have been more musketeer alike, but the composers definetely felt the spanish vibe too and chose flamenco as his theme because of its intensity and passion. Their video here.
Ohh, I need to see that show and music! But the link is not connecting, like if it's broken or something 😢 Youtube links exclusively are giving me trouble today, share me the title of the play and I will watch it full!!!
I don't know if you were aware (I was told last year) but most of the spanish culture and people that migrated to latam during the colony centuries came from Andalusia! We were fed the most exaggerated and stereotyped version of Spain🤭 and don't make me start with all the MENA influences 🥰

So I work at a venue (not one dnp is coming to but still) and I don’t see a lot of people talking about the wider context of live performances right now. Sad to say these are very much not issues limited to dnp. Basically the entire live performance economy is in shambles for so many reasons right now, it’s a totally different beast than pre-COVID.
All to say they are basically guaranteed to be losing money on this pretty much no matter what. It reallllly would not surprise me if they were legitimately going everywhere they can given how dire everything is.
i'm gonna be honest i have no idea how that industry works at all in terms of breaking even/making a profit. is it the cost of the show itself? or ticket sales not being as successful? like i assume all the popular massive tours going on are making a profit right? so it's like the smaller/mid shows?
i think right now (and anyone feel free to correct me if i'm off base on this or the last ask i answered) the primary issue is dnp's lack of communication with their audience outside of the us/uk/aus, and transparency with what they're trying/if they're trying to actually make latam or asia happen as their silence has been a reoccurring issues. but yeah i genuinely do assume they're doing everything they can to make it happen

Hi! It's me, waking up from a nice nap to give my lovely mutuals, but especially @khaofirsts @hushedstars @drama-nonsense (the amazing people who accepted my letter-delivering proposal lol) my detailed experience in the FirstKhao fanmeet in Brazil!
So, I only got there by 3:45pm, and the gates would open to the general audience by 4pm (only the people who got VIP1 — the ones y'all probably saw taking solo pictures with First and Khaotung — got to enter earlier) and oh my God the lines were LONG. It was a bit more organized than how it was earlier (in the morning there was only one giant line that was divided by sectors in the afternoon) and the temperature was very nice, not as nearly as hot as it was the day before. Here, it was just a few minutes before it started:
Tumblr media
One thing I want to emphasize so much is that there were so many different kinds of people there! Usually in events like this, with asian celebrities, the crowd tends to be more white, female presenting, more emo/punk vibes, and definitely more lgbtq+, but my guys, when I say there were people of all types, I MEAN IT. There were some nice ladies (that were probably 50+) cheering so much in the line, at first I thought they were mothers accompanying their kids but NO, they were fans! There were also a lot of men too, and gender non conforming people, trans people, you name it!
There were also many black and asian people, although white and white presenting people were still the majority (also, many photos may have you think there were only white and whiteish people but the lights that lit the crowd were so strong they basically made everyone look pale lol).
There were also many people from other countries. There were two guys (i believe they are a couple) that I have no idea where they were from, they only talked to staff in english but to each other they spoke some language I have no idea. There were also many latam groups, I saw some girls from paraguay, I know there was a group from Chile too, and there were probably more that I haven't seen. The crowd was DIVERSE!
But enough of all this pre fanmeet talk, let's get to the real stuff!
My moots. Dear moots. I almost lost my hearing /j. We were so loud, and we always are, it's basically cultural of Brazil to be louder than the artist, but last night was something else. Everyone was so excited, really, it is a different atmosphere.
The boys were so, so nervous! It was very easy to see how nervous they were in the beginning, but I think they got a lot more relaxed as the fanmeet went on. When they first entered singing, oh my god... They really got so surprised we were singing so loudly, I bet y'all have seen the footage already, it's all over twitter. They couldn't believe what they were seeing lol
Just a tiny video I took of part of their introduction (IN ALMOST PERFECT PORTUGUESE MIGHT I ADD) — bear with me I own a 6-year-old samsung and I was in the box seats, the quality won't be qualitying lmao (I made a friend while waiting in line and she'll send me some of her videos, thankfully)
I was kinda shocked, yet not really shocked, when I noticed that First wasn't singing live. Like I get it, we all know he isn't really a singer, and considering this was their largest event (by number of people: ~4k), they probably thought that it would be better that way. In any case, I don't think people really minded at all. We scream so loudly anyway that live or not, we would barely hear it lmao and he was such a charismatic performer, he interacted with everyone he could in the standing crowd. Mr. Kanaphan is a tease, you all!!!
Idk if that was just me but Khaotung sounded a little bit rough in his song, which he sang live. Maybe he had a sore throat? No idea, but by the last song (let's try) he sounded very good. Maybe it was recorded, but I really didn't noticed. Their stage presence got better and better at every song. AND RAPPER KHAOTUNG? OKAY! GIVE ME SOME MORE OF THAT!!!
The questions and games were very fun! I'm not the type that like much fanservice (all of this was fanservice, I know, but like, those obvious one, you get me?) but they were really nice and not much forced. The questions were also very nice and well-curated (no nonsense ship questions), although I think there were a couple of questions the translator didn't understand fully (also, we were screaming so much I can't blame her for not hearing) and she probably translated to them wrong/not complete, so their answers were a bit weird but we understood what they meant. Also, they tried to samba! The crowd singing Zeca Pagodinho! So random... poor boys were so, so awful lmao but we can forgive them because they're cute
The game interactions with the two fans were also really nice! The girls were very polite (one of them was very young and timid, poor thing) and yeah, it was cool *alexa, play "That Should Be Me" by Justin Bieber*
The surprise fan video was so wholesome. I was almost tearing up lol and when, in the video, a deaf fan appeared signing how much she loved them I lost it and just started crying. Really, they are such great people and their talent has entertained and inspired so many different groups, it really is heartwarming.
Okay, now for the picture: Look, I was in a trance like state. I have absolutely no idea how I got on that stage to take the photo. I was the last one of the group so I couldn't sit next to them, but I believe I got to be somewhat behind Khaotung? I remember seeing the top of his head. Oh my god I really blanked out
As for the hi touch, it was so fast I kinda also did not register much? My brain really was malfunctioning. What I can remember is: They aren't as tall as I thought? Like, I don't think they are lying about their height, I just realized I'm not as short as I thought lol I am 168cm and, with the shoes I was wearing I was probably ~171cm. Still shorter but not as short as I somehow thought I would be.
Their hands are soft. Very soft. Also, their skin literally is flawless, everyone was commenting how perfect it was, just like porcelain. I don't know what treatments they do, and what makeup they use, but I need the detailed list right now!
Also, fuck my life: I can try to say anything, literally anything, but when I get in front of celebs the only thing I can mutter is "hi" with a giant smile. What the fuck I couldn't even say something like "i love you" or "you're handsome".... NO. I JUST SAID HI AND LEFT 😭😭😭
Okay, that's pretty much how it went. Oh, and as I was waiting for my uber to arrive, and I was more distant from the venue so I could avoid the crowd. I was in the street right in front of the gates of the venue, but still more distant, there were probably like 10 people around me. I heard so many people screaming at the entrance of the venue — firstkhao were going back to the hotel (you can see the van in an earlier post of mine). They entered the van and then the van was signaling they were going to turn left to the same street I was waiting the uber. Oh. My. God. I started waving like crazy, they could not have missed me looking like those gas station inflatable men lmao I couldn't see them because the window was very dark but boy I just know they saw me again 😂😂😂😂
To finish up, as the official photo wasn't released yet, let me show where I am in the gmmtv pic. Look at top left where the arrows are pointing. See the two hands? That's me, baby

I'll answer more calmly all later but when I saw your reply I realized I forgot to add my new hc of how Marcus and Sejanus meet in the latam AU (although it could also serve to some extent in canon) 😔😔
So I started to ramble on about certain details of that great moment of gentleness between Sejanus and Marcus and I was like ok putting snow on someone's finger to get them uninjured is a bit unusual knowledge for a child and more so if they were so young. I'm sorry I've never seen snow but I'm sure if I lived in a place with snow at that age I and many other kids probably would have eaten it instead of using it that way so I came to the conclusion that Marcus' parents, well mother, I don't know I always visualized him as the son of a single mother IDK, but his mother probably had some knowledge in traditional medicine -huesera, like those ladies who know all about tea and herbs and ointments and move arms and weists😝
So Baby Marcus from a young age had some knowledge on how to take care of small injuries BUT WELL. What I thought for the latam au was; Imagine Baby Sejanus gets sick and they take him to the doctor and give him all kinds of treatments but nothing seems to work and Vesta is heartbroken but won't give up so even though she had to fight with Strabo (not much because he ended up giving in because that's his son and well it wouldn't hurt to try even if he feel untrust about these things but Vesta yelled at him and threatened him a little so he stopped arguing quickly, pls "Vesta DONT ask me the divorced 😭" "🙄") Vesta starts looking for alternatives and that's when someone from her neighbors tells her about Marcus' mother and she goes and asks for help
And they start treating baby Sejanus who actually gets better!!!! but here's the thing :)) because baby Marcus helped his mom maybe with little things like watching Sejanus while he was napping or changing his pañuelo to bring his temperature down (while Vesta and Marcus' mommy become friends <3 and support each other with Marcus' mommy comforting Vesta and giving her encouragement and I'm sure Vesta would bring her bread and candy and probably made a principle payment for Sejanus treatment).
But I kinda see Sejanus was with fever and very tired the first days and Marcus didn't get a chance to talk to him well and was very curious to meet him, wondering all the time who he was and then one day baby Sejanus wakes up and their eyes meet and 😳
And that's it hahaha, wait for my proper response to your reply later
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I LOVE THIS SO SO SO MUCH 😭😭😭
I've read some works on ao3 that have marcus' mom as a doctor on D2, and I think that to be really sweet; I've also never seen snow in my life, but I agree lmao 😭 and I also agree, in my head it's is already canon he's the kid of a single mother. and LOVE the idea of marcus' mom knowing about traditional med (here we call these ladies benzedeiras, it's common in small towns for when children are sick for moms to take them for these ladies to pray and give them teas and herbs)
strabo is extremely skeptical, he's that kind of guy who just doesn't believe in anything, but he was willing to spend any amount of money to get bby sejanus healthy again. and still, nothing is working, and he's already running out of ideas; vesta was letting him have control of the situation, but she was getting more and more desperate (that's her baby, she can't lose him like that), and then it comes to the point she grows so impatient and stands by the fact that NOW she's going to decide which doctor they would get sejanus to, and she already settled her mind on asking marcus' mom over. and of course they fight, bc strabo thinks it's such a waste of time to invite this lady over because "these are just plants, it won't make him better", but in the end, he gives in (the divorce threat made me laugh 😭 that's what he deserves). and vesta grew up in a small village, she saw plenty of times her sisters being sick and getting better because of this kind of treatment, so she at least have to try.
BBY MARCUS GOING TO HELP HIS MOM IS JUST SO ADORABLE, and his mom is apologizing to vesta because she didn't want to bother but she promises marcus is a good kid, and vesta not only is absolutely okay with it, but she spoils marcus so much, giving him all kind of treats and sweets (at the end of the day marcus and his mama come back home with a bowl with vesta's homemade dulce de leche). and when his mom and vesta are chatting, and his mom is comforting her saying everything will be okay, he's watching sejanus. and when marcus is caring for sejanus, he sometimes talks to sejanus, muttering stuff like "just get good already, your ma is worried about you" and "and you get better, maybe we can play together, you have really fancy toys". and vesta promises marcus that once sejanus gets better, they can play together ("but mrs. plinth, what if he doesn't want to play with me?" "he WILL, it's not a matter of choice").
the moment sejanus finally wakes up and sees marcus in his room omg 🥹 and they stand there in silence for a while, until marcus finally opens his mouth to say that sejanus has the biggest brown eyes he have ever seen, and sejanus is like "...thanks? I guess?" but blushing so hard. and then there's the whole moment of vesta crying so hard and hugging sejanus and thanking on her knees to marcus' mama. she turns to marcus and promises him he'll ALWAYS be welcome on their house. but marcus doesn't come back until sejanus goes after him to knock on his door and ask him to go to his house to play and watch tv with him after school.
(I'm actually obsessed with this, tysm bc this will probably live in my mind rent free for the next weeks 😭)

Apartment 512
Oneshot based on the song by Selena-El chico del apartamento 512

This work is originally written in Spanish so I'm sorry if my translation is not enough haha but well I hope you enjoy them
por si quieres leerlo en español
❜ ⌗ . . . . . . . . . ⌗ ❜
Moving, new life, new challenges, London a big city, you definitely left Latam, you looked at your new apartment, you were so excited, everything would go up from now on.
Your interview… average, well, after weeks they called you, you entered, great! At least the salary would be enough to compensate for the apartment, how lucky you were that your family supported you in the payment of 3 months, they were the best.
Finally, after adapting in about two weeks, you felt better, although the cold was the only thing you could hate, and well, in one way or another the owner of the building was sweet, even more than your grandmother, she reminded you but less Latin American, she lived on the 5th floor, strange considering there were only two large apartments in the first floor that looked like houses but you didn't question, you were just getting to know her but you spent most of the day with her, Elloise was so cute, she asked you to you call her Eli, it was the best thing after having dinner and being with her at night watching television.
It was strange the fact that she always had things and shopping bags at the door, you always help her put them away, but whenever you asked her how she carried that alone and she simply said that she was helped, every time you offered to go with her she said that you should concentrate on the job that you had just adapted to this new world.
How quickly time passed, you loved your routine, 5 months already, work,  outings and spending time with Eli, everything felt so good, although when she talked that you needed a boyfriend, you were offended that there was not the right one, like any Friday you returned from work a little later than usual and the rain surprised you on the way, with sighs you soaked into the building, should I go see Elloise? But quickly the idea dissipated, trying to accommodate your bag you called the elevator, what a day... The time, almost 11:30 well yes it was later than normal.
Once the elevator door was closed, you came in, God, my face! How could you look so bad? You pressed the number 6th floor, in the mirror you arranged your hair and now you looked like a girl with a sad and soaked face, great! when you were about to reach the third you saw that the floor number 3 was marked and in front of you the door opened, how pathetic you must have seen you, because the handsome man who was in front of you definitely grew a smile, you weresure it was because of your appearance.
He whispered a slight good night, you did not know if you heard a slightly American touch  in his voice, you felt nervous, he entered or stood  next to  you, he was definitely older, out of the corner of your eye you analyzed his appearance, he was so sexy with vibes of old man, his heartthrob vibe, he made you tremble, you always had a crush even when you were on the train, but this one was in your building, how likely was it to find him again?
Time was like a turtle or it was just your nervousness to be next to your next obsession, so close, you felt that the elevator had even his essence you could perceive his masculine scent, your legs trembled , DING! You recovered your consciousness to see how he came out, a detail, he carries a bag of tools, the gesture of goodbye he made with his flat cap, you saw his curls peek cute, but when he came out and approached the door you knew ...
Knock, knock, the door opened – For God's sake! At last, you arrive – he entered, the elevator closed again, you were static.
WHAAAAAAAT? he went to Elloise's apartment, did she know him?! Well it was obvious is the owner after all, when you entered your home everything was automatic until you went to the bathroom, you looked in the mirror, with all your look wet and misaligned.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Why me? These things always happen to me!!! After that cry of relief, you heated the water in your shower and returned to your room to change, undressing and taking a towell you returned to shower, a little rest from your long week, but what you should do now, that is, you knew that she being the owner would know everyone, but if you asked about him she would tell you why you asked about him.
You snorted in your bed, he was very handsome, that aura of maturity, his smile and playful look God, it was more than certain that he was 'a player' a man with such appearance is definitely not alone and if he is sure it is nothing serious, you threw your back to the bed Agh!, you should leave those thoughts, but something inside you wanted to know more than What man! It was your final thought before you fell into the world of dreams.
About two weeks the thought was still in your mind, who was him?, in the end you were not nosy enough to ask Eli, but change that day, as simple as you going to buy a dessert, you looked at the shelves and everything looked delicious, but in the end, you chose orange tarts, deli and easy, how lucky that that place was close to your home, the bad thing is that it was late, a bad time you chose to go fulfill your whim.
Sighing in your thoughts about your work you returned home with tranquility until you saw him while you went around the block approaching the building, it was him, the flat cap and the leather jacket indicated that it was him and mmm that mysterious aura that he emanated, what a bless ... You quickened your pace a little as he approached the front door of your building, you moved quickly.
Your dessert box was swinging so much that sure the tarts were destroyed, but it didn't matter he was so close to you, even if you didn't greet him you just wanted to see him, what a fool you are, too cowardly maybe.
You opened the door as stealthily as you could, as if you had not run half the block, you looked and there was no one at the entrance, you sighed sure he is not, you stood in front of the elevator and called, you wandered a little Why did it take so long? surely someone called, and with a disgusted face the doors opened in your front, showing that man checking the elevator buttons?
He turned and looked at you, sexy – Oh! Sorry I didn't want – your voice wobbled, when you wanted to continue, he spoke – Careless, I was just checking something – from the almost sagging position he was in, he stood up, giving space for you to enter the elevator, with a slight bow of the head you entered when passing by him you realized that he was not too high, maybe 172, maybe a little more, well with your 153 cm you couldn't say much.
-Is the elevator wrong?– You managed to ask once inside, you could not think of a more silly question, you saw that a slight smile approached his lips, cute – Not at all, the owner just asked me to take a look, nothing more – the american accent well then he was not British and that touch that looked slightly latin, how delicious his voice sounded, deep and serious, your body felt electricity for a minute – Ah! Okey, so if I can use the buttons? – you said when your hand was static for a moment in front of the panel.
A slightly mocking laugh came out of him – Of course! – just by existing he was making you fall more and more for him, your reflex hand pressed the number 5 and you waited, you felt nervous, it was silent until the door opened before you, you walked to door 501 on the left side of the hallway Eli's house, you knocked, the footsteps behind you made you nervous was him walking, a "it's open!" you heard behind the door you moved the knob and yes it was open, when you entered and turned around you saw exactly what you wanted, his home, apartment 512.
A big sigh came out of you, you walked in as if it were your house and your face turned in annoyance – Can you tell why the door is open? huh? – Eli going out with his pajama baton coming out of the bathroom, this woman would kill you – It's dangerous it's eleven! What do you do with the door unlocked? – you saw her sit on her sofa like nothing – This is not like in your country, I told you, I am older than you, you can stop being a mother chicken, not even my children are like that with me – grumbling from the sofa to you looking where you were.
You gave her a bad look – Sure, despise my care for you, as always – you opened the box of your desserts and went to the kitchen and served them, switching into the living room and sitting with her – why aren't you sleeping? – you saw that she sighed – I just didn't feel like it… you came too
–Yes well I did, I bought something and wanted to bring it to you – you said making a sign to what you brought, they were silent they watched an action movie on the channel that was on the tv, that silent company was usual among you, I knew that she would not say anything else, you said goodbye after wrapping her in her bed with a kiss and a hug, you left his room, leaving everything tidy just before leaving an idea occurred to you, a smile appeared on your face.
You closed the door of his house carefully and looked into the hallway, not a great soul, now with the oranges in your arms you approached, door 512, and dropped the oranges and left a three near Eli's door and others scattered in the hallway, making it a "!!TUUUUUN!!" sounded when you hit the door, and as fast as you could in that instant you crouched and the door in front of you opened, in your mind this was what you needed – I'm so sorry they fell – feigning some desperation, you picked up the oranges from the floor to put them in your arms, the silhouette in front of you, crouched at your height.
A few hands extended the oranges towards you and they did not seem to be from a man, when you looked up you were surprised to see a woman with curly hair, that beautiful – Let me help you – she pronounces while taking some fruits to help you, you got up, there was a beautiful woman in his apartment so late ... you had no chance, you let yourself be helped and even offered you a bag, you thanked her help without expanding the interaction anymore, you went around the elevator to return home.
You definitely lowered all your spirits, sure it was his girlfriend that otherwise a woman as beautiful as she could be in someone's apartment, you looked at your bed to lie down without desire, well apparently you could not like him if he was taken, they spent weekss trying to forget about that man however it seemed that you saw him more times than before clear not closely, but sometimes you saw it.
Walking through the streets of old London in the direction of your home you saw a couple kissing across the street in front of the apartments, they separated and what you did not expect at all was that the woman you had seen in apartment 512 was kissing with another guy, but you thought she was with ...
-Hey! – she greeted kindly as they both entered the building, a feigned but respectful smile you returned – What's up? – Your heart was beating fast you wanted to get out of there, casually you asked her without really looking interested – Nice, no more problems with oranges? – she pressed the elevator button while the two waited for it to arrive, Was her tone mocking? – heh, no more, thanks for asking
They went in together, she hit the 5th floor and you on the 6th you were not in the mood to see Eli – Do you live here? I haven't seen you before – at least if she was cheating on his boyfriend maybe there was a small chance for you – I don't, actually I come to visit a friend, I'm sure if you know him, his name is Jake – for a moment all that was on your mind was his name, you finally had it and she wasn't his girlfriend, two good things that wonderful.
–Seriously? I've seen him a few times, but we've never been formally introduced – you laughed a little and she accompanied you – I see, but you're going to the sixth floor, don't you live on the fifth? – her question seems strange to you – no – you answered.
-Oh as you were there that day I thought you lived there – there you understood why she was asking you after all – Not at all, I was just going to visit the owner, she lives in 501 so I always visit her – you explained happily, all this conversation was putting you in a better mood, when you turned to look at her you heard a slight murmur from her "that was" – sorry, did you say something?
-Nothing, heh, my name is Layla, by the way – with a smile you also introduced yourself and smiled at her when, they both arrived at the floor, Jake was at the door of his apartment, his face was serious, you felt our eyes collided, in his gaze you felt a change, Layla was the first one who left the small space and you walked slowly to Eli's apartment, you saw that the two of them started talking while you knocked on the door, no one answered that was new, you were about to take your phone out of your bag when you heard your new friend say goodbye to you calling your name, with a gentle wave of your hand you reciprocated.
-She's not here – a voice says back, his voice, you turned quickly with the phone still in your hand – Sorry? – you don't know why you felt a little silly, it was as if you pretended that situation was part of the telenovela – Elloise is not there, she had a meeting with her friends today – how was it possible that he knew that, you check the messages on your phone and it said "don't come today", well now you were like a fool in front of your crush – how do you know she is with her friends? – you asked.
–I took her – you don't expect that, so he sure was the one with the heavy favors, who helped her – I see... you just said, you put your phone away, your name filled your ears, he was calling you by your name – did you need her for anything?
I was just coming to see her as usual — you smiled — but she planted me — a slight laugh escaped from your lips, your heart beat super fast when you were in front of him, although you were surprised by the fact that you weren't stuttering enough.
—Are you the one who is always with her at night? – he questioned – yes – you answered
There was a silence.
—Thank you... She is much better thanks to you – his statement amazes you – her children are already as close to her as before and she was sad most of the time, I was worried, but I could not do anything, but now she is happy and all for you, thank you.
Your face was completely red God he was flattering you right now, you know the situation of Eli she told you herself and although complaining about how clingy you were she appreciated you a lot, and he had a real appreciation for her also because the fact that right now she is telling you all this, God! He was a sensitive man, your heart squeezed – it's nothing, I appreciate her very much, she's like my family now – you smiled back at her comment.
You saw his smile, he extended his hand to you, in the same way you did, but the act that follows you don't expect it at all, you thought he was going to make them shake, it was like in slow motion when you approached your hand and he took it bringing it to his face, near his exquisite lips, and he kissed it, he kiss the back of your hand, if you were red before now even more.
At that moment you were speechless, your mind couldn't process fast enough – I can't believe Elloise has been hiding you from me so long, but thanks to Layla, I know your beautiful name, princesa.
The pumping of your heart seemed to go at 100,000 per second, he had gotten close enough to make you feel even more shy and self-conscious than before, with all his aura and essence surrounding you, he approached your ear slowly.
"Now let me enjoy you, because now that I have you I will never let you go"
He took your hand and led you in the direction his apartment, a big smile lit up his face, you and he were going to enjoy like never before.

I got a comment on the one YR fic I posted, from another swede who told me this was the only YR fic they have read, simply because they knew I was swedish and were afraid that non-swedes would fuck up swedish words if they wanted to include them or get something wrong about just swedish culture in general.
And I really got where they came from, because once it is about your country you get really gatekeepy about it and be more afraid someone would write something "inaccurate". Because it can just itch in your fingers when you see something you know is wrong and you just wanna go correct it but you can't.
But I also need to realize that 98% of the fics that I write do not take place in Sweden at all, but in completely other countries, some of which I have never even been in. Especially in regards to dcla fics - I love writing for them, but I also do have to realize I am coming from the other end of the world when I write them. I don't share a culture with any of the characters. I love them and I know them well, but I can still tend to write from a foreign perspective. Sure, most fics is just focused on the characters in situations that really can happen anywhere in the world, but sometimes I also need to double check with research about Argentinean culture, especially regarding school systems, and very often weather - Argentina is in the southern hemisphere and Sweden is in the northern hemisphere, which means it's the opposite season there. So I know that I cannot write that it snows in January, because it doesn't over there, even if it does where I live. They have summer vacation in January over there. I even research for media references; I had to google if the moomins anime ever aired in LATAM so that I could know if I could let the characters reference it or not (the answer was, YES, it did, but only in the 90s. Which means, the Violetta characters might have been more familiar with it, while the SL characters might have not, unless they owned it on VHS. I have yet to confirm if they did get a vhs or dvd release, but due to spanish dubbed eps being easy to find I assume so. That, or people just taped it. However, the european characters from the shows might have known about it more).
And I am sure that, just like I always feel hesitant when non-swedes write fics about a place taking place in Sweden, I am sure some argentineans and latin americans in general can feel the same about me when I write a fic taking place in Argentina.
Also, while I try to carefully research when it comes to most countries, I do not care a single bit when I write fics taking place in America. I legit just let the characters use the metric system and celsius because I refuse to use anything else. I also don't really care if something is "not a thing" there, because it is now in my fic! And it's possible I display a very inaccurate description of american culture because of that. The thing is, I would be a bit peeved if someone did that in a fic taking place in Sweden, so it's very hypocritical I'd do that specifically with America in this case. Even if, you could argue, it's very different as America is everywhere all the time, and... Sweden is this small country in Europe that a lot of non-nordic people don't know that much about. But still.
And that's also a thing: Sometimes when you write a fic taking place in another country, you get the idea that characters would do something that is "not a thing" over there, but you just wanna put those characters in that scenario anyway. And that's ok! In the end, we write what we ourselves are familiar with. Every time I write a fic where someone goes on vacation, they go on vacation to places I've personally been to myself, just so I can accurately portray it. I remember seeing something about YR, where someone imagined a scenario at the school and how the characters would handle it. And the person started it by saying "I think this probably is not a thing at swedish schools, but-", and I remember still itching my fingers because I was like "yeah, it is not!! It's inaccurate, it would never happen!!!" - but then I realized... hey, it's just a scenario? It doesn't have to be accurate to how it is irl. Especially as they started with saying "I think this is probably not a thing there". We all go from our own experiences. I have references to media that might not at all been popular in the countries of the fics I write, but I personally thought it would be funny to reference it. And sometimes you might not feel like researching (especially with media references), because you just want to decide that a character somehow knows it anyway.
I made this post mostly to tell myself this, but it's really for everyone who has felt similar to me in fics taking place in their country: I know it's so easy to be afraid that foreigners will not portray it accurately, especially when there's not that many things from your country that is that popular to begin with. You wanna make sure it's made right. But it's also just fanfiction. And you do the same thing when you write fics taking place in other countries. People may not always portray it as accurately, but it's JUST A FIC. They had an idea they wanted to explore, just let them do it. We shouldn't gatekeep people from writing just because it doesn’t take place somewhere they have been to. It should be fun to write fics.
I also want to assume that, if there's something someone is unsure of, they might not put it in. And if they do, then there's a high chance they have tried to research it as good as they could. Unless they actively disrespect a culture or intentionally write something offensive, just let them have fun (although, if they write something offensive or disrespectful, even if it wasn't the intention, do call them out)

🍓 how did you get into writing fanfiction?
I had a weird idea and I couldn't draw it so I wrote it.
🍇How many fandoms have you written in?
5? That I can remember.
🍈 How many years have you been writing fanfiction?
20+
🍎 Do you read or write more fanfiction?
I suck at both but reading more than writing, lately.
🍌 What is one way you've improved as a writer?
My English, my first fics were in Spanish, I write in both and many things have improved over the years, just not noticeable.
🍑 Do you have any bad habits as a writer?
I don't write, not consistently. Also lots of grammar and sintaxis mistakes.
🍍 What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
Nothing too weird yet, maybe healing methods.
🍉What's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?
Any comment is a great comment. I live for them, even if they are small.
🍐What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?
Does Blackinnon count? I think most of my ships are main ships except that one lol
🥭What is the hardest type of story for you to write?
I've been doing RP for so long that 3rd person POV, omniscient is taking me a little while to get back to.
🍏What is the easiest type?
Crack, funny stories.
🍑Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?
Where: I mostly use notebook or Google Drive because I like to be able to access my stuff. Even though I'm paranoid and should back that up. What platform: AO3 and FF.net. There used to be more but they closed. When: When inspiration strikes/have the energy and time.
🍋What is something you've been too nervous/ intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?
Harry Potter, long fic, 1st war, how Voldemort became to power. Any long fic I feel I have no skills to pull it off.
🍇What made you choose your username?
I love Sirius, and Chessi is my nickname, it's a joke on how certain people pronounce the Y in LATAM. It sounds more like Sh or Ch, so instead of Yessi I'm Chessi.
Not sure if you read this far lol, but thanks!
Tagging anyone that wants to join the questionnaire.

Continuing in my design process for my LatAm AiW (Alicia en el Pais de Maravillas) the grand question on how to design another human like character came up. Changing the animal characters to other animals is one thing but just like the mad hatter what can I do with humans? At first I started looking into trickster spirits in various LatAm and Caribbean lore. The research was hard and endless but then I had an idea with the playing in the concept of Sun and Moon. Everywhere around the world in old belief systems the Sun and the Moon are always connected to one another. Whether it be husband and wife, siblings, or parental, the two celestial objects are tethered to each other. After coming up with the connected opposites concept now came their design. I was looking into how I could display this concept of sun and moon while connecting it to the theme of showing LatAm and Caribbean culture. A people I have always been fascinated by are the descendants of the Inca Empire. The Qero’s people that live the Cusco region in Peru cloth themselves in these brilliant hot pinks and red poncho’s decorated in beautiful geometric design with even more colors. And they adorn their heads in woolen hats with colorful pom pom’s. I just knew I had to use them as my inspiration in the look for my twins. I had to be careful to not create the twins into caricatures of REAL people. I’d like to think I as able to achieve that as nothing is an exaggeration of the Qero people. The names Inti and Killa are sun and moon in Quechua which is an umbrella term for the various dialects that spoken by the Indigenous of the Andes mountains. Hope my little ramble helped in understanding the design of these twins. :)

Don't worry, it indeed was me, the etymology nonnie, who made the ask about second language acquisition.
I guess I thought about it because English is my second language, and is yet so very important in my life (books, IFs, videos, almost everything I watch/read/consume it in English, even though my native language is Spanish), that I like to think about how it would reflect on IFs. After all, even when the MC is not meant to be a self insert (like in this one), there is always a level of strong identification, or of mixing of identities between the MC and the player. When I play any IF, even this one, I think of me and the MC as a combined entity, even if the MC I'm playing with is completely different to me with regards to physicality, tastes, background, etc.
But this kind of reflections are also very interesting to have, because not many IFs give much time to reflect on acquiring a second language, or how having a second (or multiple second) language affects life and how we interact with the world (either as immigrants or not). Merry Crisis is an example of an IF where this reality is explored, if ever so slightly, by the fact the MC can speak English and many varieties of Chinese, and is able to choose what kind of accent they have when speaking English (and even if they have one at home, and a more standard one while living in the US). I have not seen, so far, any centered around the Latino experience in particular.
Yet, while I do have some ideas for my own IFs, I have never contemplated so far to write one that took into consideration this aspect of life. In part because the concepts I have don't allow it really. One is about Lucifer as an MC, and the other two are about Greek and Roman mythology (we even discussed the Aeneas idea here, although I have been thinking about it on my own as well, meaning it would differ from what either you or I have said so far).
And I commented about this in here, and was curious about it with this IF in particular, out of you being Latina. Of course, our situations are different, since you live (from what I gathered) on a country that is not part of Latin America. While I'm someone born in Latin America and I have never left the country (In an unrelated note, I'm still a bit salty Imre wasn't thinking about taking MC to my country, in the ask where Imre took MC to Latin America, lol). Perhaps it was unfair of me, but I thought you would consider it interesting.
(By the way I'm from Chile, I thought it was probably best to say it given the previous parenthesis, but I didn't know how to include it there).
Yeah our life situations slightly differ I was born in latam but I’ve bounced back between Canada and latam all my life. It’d be interesting to talk about that especially an immigrants point of view. Like if I talked about that I would really like to go into it and sadly I feel like it doesn’t make much sense here as mc’s life doesn’t really offer a chance for that.
Although Imre… now he does speak English and Spanish and I could talk about that topic with him but I’d probably be a short story. I especially find the idea of being so connected to your homeland but having never visited it and feeling othered from your people because you weren’t born there as something very juicy.
I’m sorry Imre didn’t want to go to Chile! That boy makes mistakes he doesn’t know anything!

your opinion is so on point about the making of the doc! the first half and second feel very disconnected imo and it gave me the impression that they began this project thinking of it as a tour doc and later on decided to expand more (even the child parts fit on that view tbh ☠). and yeah also the camping culture thing... is not... it. i wish they explored more of what being a fan of louis entails and not just privileged people who can drop everything to camp (not even gonna start on the americans who were here in latam like. that was so condescending to me personally as a latam fan).
anyway i love your film masters brain hope. kissy
well i personally think the idea of the documentary at first follows what we saw in the first half of the film. louis has talked about how long this idea has been in his head and how long he’s waited for it to be the right moment to have it come to fruition. i think when he left syco, when he signed to bmg, and when he began touring it started turning into overcoming all the set backs of tour and the slow but steady budding of his solo career. which is fine it fits with the narrative of him finding and taking back his voice, generally!! and you can tell how much the tour means to louis which is so lovely to see. but you see where that shifts in the doc because of the speed run given of his life from 2015-2019 and how much more length is given to 2020-2022. but we also have to take into consideration that charlie didn’t come into the picture until 2019 right? so it’s much easier to utilize footage you took and own than it is hunting around for other footage and the rights to use that footage before you were there. anyways, i think that’s why there’s a separation as the first half is a more observational documentary style while the last half is a mix between a live music/tour experience and expository style.
the talking head fan interviews were pretty shallow. and like i said previously, louis is acutely aware of how complex his fanbase is and how diverse the passion and love is there so them choosing to focus solely on fan passion as it comes to “camping out” because it follows the chronological timeline of the touring section feels like a missed opportunity. i do like when they touched a bit on the fan projects with the lights in latam for kill my mind, but there wasn’t a bigger focus on those things. instead we just have privileged fans sleeping on concrete and practically oozing with the idea that they’re #1 fans because they’re giving up so much to be close to louis or support his tour. which again with how young louis fanbase skews when it comes to the tours, it’s a very impressionable thing for them to see being rewarded idk. (and yeah seeing white US fans being interviewed for the latam dates instead of actual latam fans was so ???? like come on)
anyways yeah! just my onion on a few aspects of the film. i love deconstructing music documentaries as i watch a lot of them and as much as i loved aotv and loved the feeling of it, it did have its moments that made me look like psyduck when he’s extremely confused lol

literally hate words west, european, white, colonialism, etcetc not bc theyre bad words but because they change with context and then i have no fucking idea what people are talking about and i also have NO IDEA WHAT I, MYSELF, AM TALKING ABOUT
when i say west, i dont mean eastern europe bc west is a term for an opressive and colonial regime of western countries, but also that west doesnt include latam, but also when i talk about "the west" in context of palestine i do actually mean "+ee too", because its west in terms of geography, but also financial power it holds over palestine
and if we talk about white/european imperialism w/o mentioning balkan countries who were victims of colonization instead of having colonies you get a "we dont consider you white" answer (to me it feels like a dodge of a diff economical problem of west; the white on white imperialism where certain whites arent white, and how its weaponized - making for an interesting discussion of what whiteness is and how is the western europe using it against other (?) white countries; begging the question of where the concept came from and who is calling the shots... showing that its an arbitrary construct that has zero inherent value, and that its a crafted narrative of upholding imperialism. any significance attributed to it is false and fragile.)
(ive actually seen people say yugoslavs arent white because we dont have "european mentality". so what even is european mentality? and more importantly who decides what that mentality is? and if these people do not fit into that european mentality, which europe obviously needs them to, then... how are we allowed to treat those balkan intruders? whiteness/europeanism are constructed houses of cards which move goalposts to decide who fits into them. interestingly, ive seen people claim that "slovenians are white, but croats/serbs/bosnians arent". why is that? because slovenia has more of the European Mentality, is my guess. what is european mentality anyway?)
and if we do the same w european imperialism we get once again the same problem: if east didnt participate in it, then what is europe? europe is a set of ideals, which is also an interesting thing to think about, esp having heard croatian leadership talking for years now about "needing to have european values"
implying that we arent european tho we live there? but isnt it a form of cultural imperialism for western europe to have such control and power that their values become those of europe as whole, which every eastern country much hold up to, or they arent part of europe?
i am rly fucking hungover and i am making zero sense pls ignore this post i am just talking to myself

Thank you for answering my question about the $$$ behind doing a stadium tour. I just found it odd it took so long to announce LATAM that I wondered if Louis was hesitant to spend the money. Like is it more financially viable to do multiple dates at an arena or do a single stadium show. Regardless of the financial impact, I’m just glad Louis can do a stadium show as a solo artist. I can only imagine his joy when someone told him he can do stadiums in LATAM regardless of cost/profit.
The rumors were that the contracts for some venues were late to be signed (cough cough Peru), hence delaying the announcement for the whole leg.
There's a lot to be considered in planning a tour, which would explain the "delays" though we are still in the same timeline as last year when fitfwt 2023 (which started in May) was announced when FITF was released (early November).
My guess is that if LTHQ/Wasserman weren't very confident they can sell such big venues, they wouldn't be going for them as they know it's a financial risk. On the same side, promoters want to be assured that the tickets will sell.
For Latam I think it's the normal evolution of his shows there - he was doing arenas there for LTWT while playing 2,000 capacity venues in the US. I have no doubt that the demand is there in Latam. I am uncomfortable with this giving ideas to LTHQ for the US/Euro leg of next tour.
I also would like people to stop associating stadium tours with success. Plenty of artists play arenas their whole career and have successful and money-making tours (AM for ex recently played their first stadium shows in the UK in the span of their 20 years career, and continued with arenas in North America). Is the show good? Is the artist happy to be on stage? Are the fans having the time of their lives? That's what's important and not the capacity of the venue and whether it's sold out or not.

i was gonna be like chill but it's 1:30 am and i deserve to be a hater so: saw two completely dogshit stupid completely mindless, missing-the-whole-point takes today. first was about how dream did nothing for the dsmp and was just the manager which made me so fucking irritated i considered if they'd actually watched any of the dsmp like, at all, or if they were basing this idea off of pocket lint and sheer stupidity. secondly the take i saw on twitter on how dream going to spain is bad. that was the whole take. that him going to spain is bad because he doesn't know spanish. i shit you the fuck not. have they heard of tourism. do they know what multilingualism is. also saw this heavily supported by qsmp fans which surprised me very little since they really love hypocrisy. am pretty sure the specific take i saw came from someone who also didn't speak spanish. anyway. i live in spain. i pass like an average of seven english speakers on the street or train every day. i promise it's not that fucking hard to communicate. sidenote there was also something about how it's racist and id like to like, broadly gesture at the fact that spain is a) predominantly white (sidenote the xenophobic shit here is fucking wild), and b) the existence of the spanish empire and thus c) spain are colonizers???? did you think the fact that latam is a thing was like a nice little coincidence???
anyway this has been the 'lo is so fucking tired of dumb ass ideas' corner, tune in probably either next week or a time i can only define as "soonish (sigh)"
