Self-indulgent IwaOi fic because I was sad
This fic was based of a fanart by @ / marikdraw. Check them out their art is amazing!!!
Characters: Oikawa x Iwaizumi
TW: depression ???, just general self-loathing, though nothing too serious.
Genre: angsty but it turns into fluff at the end
Summary: Oikawa thinks he’s not enough. Iwaizumi shows him that he is.
Word count: 1,762
A/N: i hc that oikawa has MDD i dont make the rules... but i do
pâro
n. the feeling that no matter what you do is always somehow wrong—as if there’s some obvious way forward that everybody else can see but you, each of them leaning back in their chair and calling out helpfully, “colder, colder, colder…”
Since he was little, Oikawa was showered with endless praise and compliments.
"Wow! he's that good and only a first year?"
"You're going to make it very far!"
"You have so much potential, Oikawa!"
No one was better than him. He was unstoppable. Unbeatable. He was, in every sense, the great king of the court.
"Oikawa-san, you work so hard!"
"Slow down, Trashy-kawa"
Those remarks from his teammates only fueled his unending hunger for greatness. But, with high status comes high expectations. And Oikawa did everything in his power to live up to those expectations. 'Just a few more,' 'just a little bit further,' 'just a little more,' more, more, more. He never seemed to be satisfied with his own efforts. Fearing that his hours of extra practice would betray him when he needed it most. So, he always did more, more, more. He didn't stop until he physically couldn't anymore.
On more than one occasion his teammates have walked in on a passed-out Oikawa, who had exerted too much of himself before practice had even started. He knew this wasn't healthy. He knew his body wouldn't be able to keep up. But no one, not even his already injured knee, could stop him. Because, as he found out, he wasn't the best. Not by a long shot.
When he first met Kageyama, Oikawa's first instinct was to crush him. He wanted to push the younger boy so far down that he would give up on trying to get back up. Because inside his heart, he knew that he could never beat him. Kageyama was born a genius. Volleyball was natural for him. Oikawa had to mold himself to get to where he was, while people like Kageyama were born miles ahead, with all the instincts for the sport instilled into their DNA. He could never hope to be overtake Kageyama when he already had such a large head-start. He knew it, but he refused to accept it.
And then, in his third and final year of high school, the spring tournament came. Everything, all his efforts, lead up to this moment. It was almost poetic that he has to face off against his former kouhai who had challenged him so much in middle school.
And then... by some miracle, they won. He won. Oikawa had actually beat the "king of the court". Finally, he felt like he was catching up. Oikawa was no longer struggling on an unfamiliar path that others had already crossed, he was struggling side-by-side with them. After nearly 18 years of his life, he finally felt like he was on an equal playing field with the others. Maybe, just maybe, all his extra hours of practice, all those bailing on gatherings with friends and nearly failing his subjects in school just to squeeze in a few more laps or serves... All of those sacrifices he made, weren't for nothing. His hard work was finally paying off. He was on a high no one could bring him down from.
And then they lost to Shiratorizawa.
He couldn't seem to fully grasp the reality of it yet. To him, it didn't make sense how Ushiwaka could beat him. He did everything right. every choice he made was the right one. Every toss went exactly where it needed to score. The entire team was at the top of their game. There was nothing else they could have done. They tried their hardest. So, why didn't they win?! Why had they lost? Clearly, it was Oikawa's fault. he was both the setter and the captain, meaning he held most of the responsibility for their loss. That's how it was in his eyes, at least. It had to be his fault; it was no one else's. This loss had dragged Oikawa from his high all the way down to rock bottom, and then kicked him down some more.
As Oikawa sat in the changing rooms after the game, he contemplated every single day he spent not training. All those lunch breaks he let his fan-girls distract him, every damn time he told himself he was "too tired" or "not in the mood" to practice. Those scenes flashed in his mind like nightmares. Tears threatened to slip from his eyes as he fought for some control over his emotions. He was so caught up in his misery that he failed to notice the sound of Iwaizumi's footsteps coming in.
"Oi, trashy-kawa!" He yelled. Startled, Oikawa looked up to see Iwaizumi scowling down at him, "the bus is leaving soon, what the hell is taking you so damn long?" He asked, less aggressively than usual, taking into consideration their current situation and the tears that pricked at Oikawa's eyes. Their loss also weighed heavy on Iwaizumi's shoulders; he was slouching a tiny bit more than usual, and he didn't really have the energy in him to yell at Oikawa like he normally would have.
Of course, Iwaizumi was beating himself up too; there was a ton of spikes and serves he'd missed during the match, and he knew the rest of the team was thinking the same things about themselves.
"I'm sorry..." Oikawa mumbled, barely loud enough for Iwaizumi to hear, "it was my fault we lost. I should have trained mo-"
"More? You're the one that did the most out of all us, stop regretting the things you didn't do," Iwaizumi had cut him off. He had now taken a seat right next to the bench Oikawa was sat on. Oikawa clenched his teeth. He didn't know why but he was getting angry. He wanted Iwaizumi to yell at him, tell him that he failed as their setter and captain, and most importantly as his friend. "Don't say that. We both know I should have tried harder," he spat back.
"Are you saying that you slacked off during the match?" Iwaizumi asked.
"Huh?! Of course not!"
"Then you did your best didn't you? We all did. That's all that mat-"
"THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, THOUGH!" Oikawa had snapped. His self-loathing had reached its peak. He couldn't stand Iwaizumi's lies anymore. Why wasn't he blaming him?! It was Oikawa's fault that they lost, right? So, why wasn't Iwaizumi angry?! Oikawa had long forgotten to stop himself from crying, and now every word he said as accompanied with the tears that flew down his face. "THEY SAW THROUGH ALL OF MY ATTACKS! THEY MANAGED TO RETURN MOST OF MY SERVES! I SHOULD HAVE TRAINED MORE! I SHOULD HAVE PRACTICED HARDER! I COULDNT MAKE IT IN TIME! I-" Oikawa's voice broke, "I wasn't enough for you..." He looked away. He couldn't stand to see Iwaizumi's face right now.
Earlier in their third year, the pair had promised each other that they would play on the same court for as long as possible. They would continue to win so they could keep playing volleyball together. And then, they would win nationals. side-by-side. Like they've always been.
When they'd lost against Shiratorizawa, Oikawa felt like he'd broken that promise. He was ready for Iwaizumi to yell at him about how disappointed he was, about how much he was let down by him... He waited... But nothing happened. Oikawa slowly turned his gaze back up to Iwaizumi and his breath hitched in his throat. Iwaizumi had tears in his eyes and his fists were clenched.
Oikawas heart immediately stopped. Of course, he would be the one to make his best friend cry. The sight of it made his heart ache. He didn't know what to do so he just sat where he was and looked away.
Iwaizumi said nothing; he simply bent down on the floor and placed the smallest little kiss onto Oikawa's injured knee. Oikawas heart started pounding. In that moment, he remembered why he'd been pushing himself so hard. Why he wanted to keep going even if his lungs were screaming out in pain. It was because of him; because of Iwaizumi. Because he wanted to play with him for as long as he could.
"You are so much more than enough, Tooru," Iwaizumi's voice was barely above a whisper. He looked up at Oikawa, who now had stopped crying, but his face was decorated with a bright blush that went up to his ears.
And, although Iwaizumi didn't say anything else after that, the look in his eyes told Oikawa everything he needed to know: 'it's not your fault, you did your best and we all know that, no one blames you.'
A weight had been lifted off Oikawa’s shoulders; all those pent-up feelings of never being good enough seemed to melt away in the blink of an eye - in a way only Iwaizumi could do. He was so overwhelmed with so many feelings that all he could do was laugh as the relief set in. Iwaizumi, who was confused at first but then offered a soft smile, reached up to grab Oikawa's neck, and then proceeded to lean in for a kiss. Iwaizumi was about to pull away when Oikawa deepened the kiss by leaning down further and grabbing the hem of the other man's shirt. He could never put into words how thankful he was for Iwaizumi, so he was showing him. Likewise, that kiss was meant to reinforce how much Iwaizumi wanted to tell the other man, how hard he worked and how much of an inspiration he was to him and everyone around him, and he wanted to keep reminding Oikawa of just how much he meant to him for the rest of his life.
When they pulled away, Oikawa wore the brightest smile on his face that Iwaizumi had ever seen; he'd also realized that, in the weeks leading up to the tournament, he didn't see Oikawa smiling much. He didn't realize how much he’d missed that smile. Iwaizumi couldn't hide his giddiness either.
"If I'm going to get this treatment every time we lose, I'm gonna start losing a lot more," Oikawa joked.
"You better not!" Iwaizumi replied, his usual scowl evident on his face, but smiled at the implication that there were going to be more matches in the future.
And Oikawa, although still upset over the loss, had realized that he could be okay with losing if it meant Iwaizumi was there for him.

Lupe was having the luckiest bad day of their life, and if it didn't let up soon, they were going to collapse from the stress.
First, it had been the flooding—an event that easily could have killed a dozen people or more, but from which Lupe had escaped without getting so much as a toe in the water. Then it was getting trapped in the swanky office building, where they were sure to get caught and arrested, only to see on the news that the only thing stopping them from leaving was some weirdo up on the roof. And then, it was ARCOM's killer robot and its—handler?—which had almost shot Lupe dead on the spot but decided not to at the last second, instead chasing off after the weirdo in the mask and opening, however unintentionally, Lupe's escape.
So Lupe had hidden in the stairwell in case the Division showed up before the water cleared (they hadn't), and had taken the back-alleys and underpasses out of downtown in case the regular cops were looking for them (they weren't), and was now holed up in a booth at the back of the one Powered bar in Albuquerque, accompanied only by the tinnitus ringing in their ears, nursing a gin and tonic and supposing they ought to feel relieved.
They didn't.
An acrylic nail tapping on the table brought them back to the present. Their favorite bartender, Jess, was standing table-side, rainbow dreadlocks bright against dark skin.
"Starting to pick up in here, honey," she said. "You might wanna start thinking about heading out, before you lose all your elbow room."
"You can't just let me out the back again?" Lupe asked.
"I'd love to, except Cindy's working tonight, and she's been looking for an excuse to fire me."
"Is Cindy the racist one?"
"Take a wild guess."
Lupe winced. "Okay. Thanks for letting me know. Is it okay if I finish my drink first, or. . . ?"
"You got time. I'll get you a lemonade to go so we ain't just kicking you out. On the house."
"Are you sure? You don't have to."
She pressed a hand to her chest and sighed hugely. "If I don't, you might leave us a bad review."
"I couldn't even if I wanted to," they said.
"It's a joke, we're already drowning in bad reviews from normies. Zero stars, service was terrible and it was full of mutants, I felt sooooo threatened when everybody got mad at me for calling them slurs."
Lupe snorted. "Has that happened?"
"Weekly, honey, weekly."
"I'm sorry."
She grinned. "It's all good. They never stick around too long." She tapped her nail on the table again, and a breath of blue flame rolled up the back of her hand. "Lemme get you that lemonade before I forget."
Lupe gave her a lazy, two-finger salute as she moved off. They sucked down a few good gulps of their gin and tonic. Maybe Jess had gone a little heavy on the gin, or maybe it was just that Lupe hadn't eaten in almost twenty-four hours, but it was hitting them harder than usual. They checked their pockets for change and found about four dollars—and since they were getting kicked out before they could get another drink, maybe they'd go get a burger, instead. As they stuffed the cash back in their pocket, somebody pulled up to their booth.
"Mind if I join you?"
He was white, mousy, and freckly, with short-cropped brown hair and a midwestern accent. He was wearing thick-rimmed glasses, a green flannel over a band T-shirt, dark jeans washed a few too many times. He had a drink in each hand.
"I—I was actually just leaving, sorry, it's all yours," said Lupe, scooching outward.
The guy's face fell. "You were?"
"Yeah, it just—I just have to—" They cast around for Jess, but she was nowhere to be seen. They didn't need the free lemonade, anyway; they should get out of here while they could, before this poor guy put a foot in the wrong place and got electrocuted.
"I guess I have to drink both of these, now," he sighed, looking down at the two drinks. One was a beer. The other was clear and bubbly and had a slice of orange in it.
"Well," said Lupe. They fidgeted. "You weren't—you didn't—did you. . . ?"
He offered the cocktail to them. "It was supposed to be for you," he said hopefully.
Lupe fidgeted some more. The room wasn't too crowded yet, and one drink couldn't hurt, especially if it was free. Jess was up at the bar now, busy with a large group of young women that had just come in. Lupe gestured to the other side of the booth.
"I'll save you from the spare drink," they said. "Just be careful where you put your feet, I run at a pretty lethal voltage."
The guy stopped halfway to sitting down. He stared. Lupe shrugged.
"No wonder you're back here all by yourself," the guy said faintly.
"Yeah," said Lupe. "It's fine if you—"
The guy slid the rest of the way into the booth and pulled his feet up after him, sitting cross-legged. With one finger, he pushed the cocktail across to Lupe.
"It's a Tom Collins," he said. "You struck me as the ginny type."
"That—that's a nine-dollar drink," Lupe objected, torn between being flattered and gravely suspicious.
"Yeah," said the guy. He gestured to his own. "And this is a three-dollar beer, split the difference."
Lupe struggled for words. They looked from the cocktail to the guy and back again. They swirled the tiny straws around in case it stirred up any suspicious white powder, which it didn't.
"What did you say your name was?" Lupe asked the guy.
"Zach," he said. "He/him pronouns, if anybody's counting."
"Oh—oh," said Lupe. Something fluttered in their chest, a sigh of relief. "I'm Lupe. Um. They/them."
"Pleased to meet you," said Zach. "I'd shake your hand, but—"
"Yeah, don't—don't do that. So, you—so—you're . . . Powered? I mean, Watt's, it's sort of—it's not like they card you, and if that's too personal, obviously, you don't have to answer, I just. . . ."
"Barely," Zach said, amused but taking pity. "Just enough to make my normie friends nervous."
"Do you mind if I ask what it is?"
"Eh, sure. You showed me yours, I'll show you mine."
In the blink of an eye, he was gone—into thin air, without so much as a puff of smoke or a flash of light. Before Lupe had gotten done being surprised, though, he was back, scrunching his nose like he needed to sneeze.
"That's not barely," said Lupe, astounded.
"No, it doesn't work like you think it does. For example—cameras. It doesn't work on cameras, for some reason. I'm like a reverse-vampire or something. And it gives me migraines if I hold it for more than a minute or so."
"Ohhh, yeah, that—that's not great. I guess it's fun at parties?"
"It's the best at parties," Zach said viciously, grinning. "I hate parties. And now nobody can make me stay, because as soon as nobody's looking, I can literally disappear."
Lupe chuckled and had a sip of their cocktail. It was mild and delicious, like a carbonated gin-lemonade, and there was no hint of a salty Rohypnol aftertaste. Maybe, they thought, this guy really was just being nice.
"Silver linings?" they said. "I don't know, I haven't been to a party in . . . Christ, probably twenty years."
Zach sucked in a breath through his teeth, wincing. "Yeah, what with the voltage and everything, I guess that's probably a little fraught. Don't worry, you're not missing much. Parties suck."
"But bars don't?"
"So long as there's no parties going on in them."
Lupe stirred their drink, being careful not to touch the table. At the bar, Jess was entertaining the group of young women, lighting their drinks on fire with her fingers (to their great delight). Zach watched them, amused, his chin on his hand, his beer untouched.
"Um," said Lupe. "I um. Look, before, um . . . I appreciate the drink, and the—the company, but I just want to make it clear that I'm not really, um, interested in—in—not that you're not—but I'm, sort of, very asexual? So—"
Zach turned back to them, startled. "What? No, no, that's not what this is about. I'm straight."
"You're what?" said Lupe. Their face went hot. "Oh, no, of course, right, I just—"
"Not that you're not a good-looking guy—sorry, person. You're just not my type."
"No, yeah, same, but I just kind of . . . forgot about straight people. Hahah."
"You don't get out much, huh," said Zach, with that same amused-pity look from before.
"I'm homeless, I'm always out," said Lupe, and then realized that it was a top-tier idiot thing to say.
"Holy shit, seriously?" Zach said. "You don't look—okay, you kind of do look homeless, but I figured that was just a fashion choice."
"And you don't look like an ignorant dick, but here we are," Lupe retorted. Maybe they'd had a little too much to drink. Whatever. A remark like that deserved a little snappishness.
Zach winced. "Okay, I deserved that," he said. "But—man, that's rough. Do you need a place to stay, or something? I could put you up at a hotel for a couple of days, or—"
"Don't, just—don't," Lupe sighed, holding up a hand. "It doesn't work. Unless you can find a hotel that doesn't use keycards, it won't work. Just—forget I said anything."
"Are you sure?" Zach pressed. "You could stay at my place, if you needed to. Not forever, I'm kind of already maxed out on roommates, but for a while. Until you get—"
"Get my feet back underneath me?" Lupe filled in. "Sure, I just have to find a job where they don't require you to touch any computers, machines, or other people. Oh, and it has to be no-experience-required, too, and no high school diploma, and not need a physical address or an ID or a phone number, and and and. It won't happen. Trust me."
Zach stared at them, full-pity, looking like a lost puppy in the rain. Lupe shook their head and muttered in Spanish under their breath and looked someplace else. The pity was always the hardest to take.
"Well—do you want dinner, then?" Zach asked. "I could buy you dinner, at least."
"I don't want your goddamn charity," Lupe snapped. A bolt cracked off their wrist and earthed in the center of the table. Someone shrieked. Zach froze, whey-faced. The smell of burnt lacquer rose in a plume. Lupe ground their teeth and took deep breaths and waited for the whine in their ears to soften. Before it did, Jess sidled over.
"Hey, honey," she said. "Hate to butt in, but I think it's about time for you to be heading on out."
"Yeah," said Lupe. They abandoned the rest of their cocktail and got up, dizzy. "Sorry about the table."
"Don't worry about it. You ain't hardly the worst thing that's happened to a table in here."
They faked a smile, nodded to her, and headed for the door. Despite the crowd, a wide path opened for them. Every eye in the place watched as they went.

Problems I’ve Been Having With Writing // How I Plan To Fix Them
Before reading this post, consider checking out the Teespring Shop with designs by myself and my friend Alexx, where 100% of the proceeds are donated to the Black Lives Matter organization.
It’s no secret that lately, working on my novel has been a struggle. I used to be able to write entire books with 80k+ words at 14, and now I’m struggling just to hit 10k in a project I’ve been working on for 3 months.
Some of this could be attributed to COVID-19, my crazy school schedule (with thankfully is over now), and my job. However, my main issues are with motivation, self-confidence, and remembering how prose works after over a year of writing only poetry. I did this under a cut because, well, it’s long.
Problem 1 - Motivation, Mental Illness, & Activism
Finding motivation these days is more than just difficult. As someone with chronic illness and also OCD, the urge to do things only when I’m feeling up to them and the desire to have a daily schedule (with writing included) are always at war, and neither of them winning. It’s impossible for me to do the same amount of work every day or week, but also hard to cope with the lack of stability.
On top of that, I’ve been trying using my platforms on social media to promote, donate to, and educate myself on the Black Lives Matter movement. As someone who uses social media (especially Tumblr, with its tagging system) to organize my thoughts on, and hold myself accountable for my writing, it becomes really difficult to manage both activism and writing on my social media - especially when the movements going on are more significant than what I have to say about my WIP.
The solution to both of these problems, as difficult as they are to manage, is finding balance. For OCD and chronic illness, I’m trying to figure out which parts of the day I’m feeling the most energized and motivated so I can schedule my writing around those chunks of time - which I think fall between 10am and 12pm.
For balancing activism and personal social media stuff, it’s a little more difficult. So far, I’m thinking the best way to deal with it is to link my main contribution to the movement so far (mine and Alexx’s Teespring shop) to all the posts that might lean on the personal/writing side, and continuing to uplift Black voices when they come across my dash, and actively seek them out when I have the energy to do so.
By no means will these completely solve the problems, but hopefully they’ll help me find time and energy to write when I can.
Problem 2 - Self-Confidence
Every writer has issues with not believing in themselves from time to time, but lately mine have become overwhelming. This could have something to do with the fact that I can hardly get words down in the first place. My mind has been very stubborn in allowing me to come up with words that flow in a narrative way, and I usually spend a lot longer on one or two sentences than I’d like to.
Similar with that issue, almost all of the writing I read is by, well, adults. Many of the writers I follow on Tumblr are also adults. I’m a month from seventeen, but I’ve always been told that I act or present as a lot older, so I guess I always expected my fiction writing would be as aged and confident as posts like this, my essays for school, and the research I put together for my own purposes. While my writing quality might read as a little older or more skilled than a sixteen year old, it still feels like it’s lacking in quality and like I haven’t progressed at all since my last novel (which directly ties into the next point, but I’ll get there in a minute).
The only way to get over this issue is to write and not stop because I think it’s bad. I know that. It’s easier said than done, of course, but I think that with time and a lot of forcing myself through is going to help.
Problem 3 - The Super Long Break I Took/Poetry
The last time I finished a novel was in December of 2018, so I’ve taken a break that lasted well over a year. I was still writing during this time, but it was pretty much all poetry, besides a few attempts that never got past a few pages and a WIP intro post (sorry about that, everyone).
Basically, I’ve forgotten how to write prose and storylines. That can be re-learned, though, which is why I’m sticking to OITW even though I’m beginning to realize I don’t love writing fantasy as much as I used to (I will still very gladly read it, though).
There’s another problem that came with that one, though, which sort of ties into my issues with confidence in my writing:
Poetry comes easily to me. I hear some novelists talking about their short ventures into poetry and how they would spend forever on a poem and how difficult it was, but that’s not what poetry is like for me. I grew up with my mom, my aunt, and for a short time my great grandma who were all poets. I was always exposed to poetry and felt a deep connection to it, which makes it simple (most of the time) to write.
Plus, due to the internet and me being me, I was exposed to the art of slam poetry when I was 13 (it’s something I daydream about, but my insecurities surrounding my stammer kind of stop me there. Plus I live in the middle of nowhere). Poetry is everything to me.
So you can imagine it’s a little frustrating that I can bust out a contest-winning poem in three minutes but struggle to write 200 words a week when I’ve been writing novels longer. This has honestly been one of the hardest parts of writing OITW - it’s harder than I expected it to be. The words don’t flow like they used to.
Combating this issue, while it’s taken a blow to my confidence, has actually been a little easier than I thought. I have to make myself write, of course, that one’s kind of obvious. But the one that I missed for so long was reading.
I’ve been reading almost nothing for the past year, minus a book I got for Christmas that, surprise surprise, got me inspired to write again. My best friend talked me into reading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell and not only is it awesome, I read the 500+ page book in under 48 hours. I can’t remember the last time I read a book that quick.
I’ve also been slowly making my way through A History Of Wolves by Emily Fridlund, but I think I need to re-start it because when I first started reading it, I was working a full time job, doing 5 classes for school, and struggling with my physical health (more than I usually am).
Reading isn’t going to make my prose read like water or anything, and neither are any of these other “solutions”. However, despite being a lot more easily said than done, I feel like they’re going to help. And let’s be real, I need all the help I can get.
Want to check out that shop but don’t want to scroll for a million years to get to it? Here it is again! We’ve raised over $100 for BLM and plan to continue selling these designs for donation indefinitely, unless we specifically take them down (though I can’t think of any reason we’d do that).

stars
chapter 26
he looked into the cloudless, blue sky and saw the fading moon, a beautiful remnant of the night during the day. dan thought of both phil and hayden as he remembered the stars never truly left them.
summary: dan grew up in a normal 1930s london family with his parents and little brother. everything was completely and utterly normal… until the bombs started dropping. When dan was fifteen his father went off to war, and when he was sixteen he and his brother hayden were sent off to a foster family in rural england. he looked up at the stars and couldn’t help but wonder how something that beautiful could exist in such a broken world. just when he thought things would never get better, dan met phil, and he became the shining star of his life. but when phil turned eighteen and went off to war, dan couldn’t help but wonder when, if ever, the stars would twinkle the same way again.
rating: t
genre: angst, fluff, history au, strangers to lovers, teenagers

chapter word count: 1.8k total word count: 38.2k
read it on ao3 read it on wattpad fic masterlist
The future was harder than Dan thought.
He easily managed to avoid the draft; all he had to do was tell them he was gay, and they avoided him like the plague. The challenge was what to do next.
He’d applied for and gotten into a university in northern England, and he fully planned to study there, but he hadn’t figured out one massive issue: Hayden.
He would have applied for a university in London had Hayden not been there, but he wanted to take him with him, and London still wasn’t safe for a child. The air raids weren’t as serious as they used to be, but it was still better to keep him out of the city. So Dan chose to go north to study, but as time passed, he became less and less confident that Hayden should even go with him.
The summer passed at a normal rate of time. The last six months had gone slow because Phil wasn’t there, but the fact that he’d have to leave at the end of the summer counteracted that back to normal.
Not much changed over those few months; Dan and Phil wrote back and forth every day, and Dan still held Hayden close, including him in nearly every aspect of his life.
Eventually, though, the summer ended, and it was time for Dan to move on. As anxious as he was for university, he was more anxious for the decision he had to make before he left. But as much as he hated to admit it, he’d made the decision long ago.
“Margo, can I talk to you for a moment?” Dan asked as she set laundry down on his bed a few days before he was set to leave. One of the few changes of the summer was that Dan had grown closer to Margo; she had become one of his strongest emotional support systems, third only to Hayden and his letters to Phil.
“Of course; what is it?”
He positioned himself facing to her side and stared down at the string on his sweatpants. “Well, obviously I’m leaving in a couple days, and I really want to take Hayden with me, but... I can’t.” He wrung his hands together and looked up at her; she beckoned him to continue. “He’s everything to me, and I want to be there for him more than anything, but I don’t even know if I’m going to be able to take care of myself at uni. Trying to focus on my studies while also financially and emotionally supporting a nine-year-old... There’s no way I’d be able to do it.”
She took his hand and looked into his already glossy eyes. “I had a feeling this would happen.” She smiled at him, squeezing his hand. “We’ll take good care of him, you know. He can write you every day.”
“Ah, writing,” Dan laughed as the tears began to fall. “I’m doing the same to him as Phil did to me, aren’t I?”
She cocked an eyebrow and stared into the distance. “Sort of, I suppose. But this is different. Imagine what would happen if you took him with you. He’d be emotionally neglected, and who’s to say you’ll even be able to feed him?”
“You’re probably right, but at least he’d be with me.”
“Dan, I promise you,” she said, taking his other hand and turning him to face her. “He’ll be happy here.”
Dan nodded, blinking out tears. He tore his hands from hers and wiped them from his face. “It’s what’s best for us all.”
She nodded back and stood up, walking over to the door. “I’ll let you tell him,” she said as she left.
Dan took a deep breath. Hayden would be heartbroken.
The day before he was supposed to move into his dorm, Harold took Dan to get his driver’s license. He had elected to drive to uni alone; having to watch Hayden drive away with Margo and Harold would be far too painful.
He drove home with a heavy heart; normally a young adult would be thrilled to get their license, but Dan knew that when he made it back to the house he would have to break the news to Hayden, and he was nowhere near ready for that.
He parked the truck and pocketed the keys. He decided not to put it off any longer, marching straight up to Hayden’s room and knocking on the already open door. “Can we talk for a moment?”
“Of course! I could use a break from packing,” Hayden said, and Dan glanced at his half-packed suitcase.
“Yeah, about that...” Dan trailed off, and Hayden began to show concern. “I don’t think you should come with me.”
“What?” he asked, his voice more childish than usual. It was almost pathetic, and Dan swallowed nervously.
“I don’t know if I’ll be able to support you the way I should at uni, at least not for the first year. But I’ll be back to visit you over the summer and during every holiday, and you can write to me every day.”
“But I want to be with you!” Hayden cried, his face reddening with held back tears. The worst part was that Dan knew exactly what he was feeling.
“I know, and I want to be with you too, but it’s not what’s best for either of us right now. You’ll still be here with Margo and Harold and all your school friends who love you.”
“But I don’t want them! I want you!”
Dan got down on his knees, making him a few inches shorter than his brother. “I’ll still be here. I’ll always be right here,” he said, pointing to the boy’s heart. It was a cheesy gesture, but it was a comforting one.
Hayden threw his arms around Dan, sobbing into his shoulder. “Please don’t leave me.”
With that, the gravity of it all hit him. He was all the real family the boy had left, and he was practically going to be alone without him. But it was unrealistic to think that Dan could handle caring for a child at university, and the last thing he’d ever heard his mother say still rang painfully in his head as if it had been said a mere day ago.
“Take good care of him.”
Dan knew the only way he could do that was by letting him go. “I’m sorry.”
The morning was a somber one for them all. Dan finished off his packing and looked back into his empty room; it was just as he had found it the day he arrived there. So much had happened since then; so much had changed. Dan’s entire life had been flipped upside down multiple times, some in the best and some in the worst way possible. The farmhouse held so many memories for him that leaving it was almost as painful as leaving its occupants.
Dan had a brief breakfast; he wasn’t very hungry. He carried his luggage out to the truck and gazed up at the hill, the sun hidden behind the tree, which would soon begin to lose its leaves. Dan remembered times when the tree had no leaves; he could see the stars better then.
“I’m going to run up to the hill; I’ll be back to say my goodbyes!” he called into the house before jumping into the driver’s seat and taking the truck up the hill for one last time. He reached into the small bag of things he’d packed knowing he’d need them during the day and pulled out his notebook and a pen. He climbed the tree, materials in his teeth, without even thinking about it. After so long, it had become instinctual to him.
He perched himself on his branch and leaned against the trunk, flipping to an empty page and beginning to write. First, he wrote to Phil. telling him of the weight the day carried and all the memories running through his head. He wrote of his love and of his sorrow, and he wrote of the pain he had to inflict on Hayden and his final understanding of what Phil had to do to him.
He looked into the cloudless blue sky and saw the fading moon, a beautiful remnant of the night during the day. Dan thought of both Phil and Hayden as he remembered the stars never truly left them.
He turned to the next page and wrote to Hayden. He would add to the page after he arrived at uni, but for that moment, he wrote simply of their lives together, of their joint situation, of the house they’d both learned to love, and of their love for each other that Dan knew would never fade. He’d have liked to believe he simply wrote the message to send to Hayden to comfort him, but somewhere deep down he knew it was also for himself. For the second time, leaving was the hardest thing he’d ever had to do.
He drove back down the hill and left the engine running as he walked back into the house. “I have to go now,” he said to the family sitting in the kitchen. A deep sigh echoed from the room. They all knew the time would come, but none of them were ready for it.
Dan hugged Harold and Margo goodbye before gesturing towards Hayden to follow him to the door. When they reached the doorway, Dan crouched down to Hayden’s height and pulled him in for the tightest hug either of them had ever had. Neither wanted to let go, but they each knew it was time to break the last physical, familial bond they had left.
“I love you,” Dan said to his brother, already having to fight back tears.
“I love you too, Danny.”
He pulled back and turned away, trying to pull himself together. He walked out to the truck and took it out of park, looking back at the house and the three people standing to send him off. “Goodbye, now! I’ll write as soon as I arrive!” he called back as he turned towards the drive away from the house. In his mirror, he could see Hayden sadly waving goodbye, tears in his eyes as Margo and Harold gripped his shoulders. He tore his eyes away from the image, tears finally welling up in his own eyes.
As soon as the family was out of view, he relented and let himself cry. Shortly after he got onto the road, he had to pull over and wipe his eyes because he couldn’t see well enough to drive. He sat on the side of the road for what must have been at least fifteen or thirty minutes, head in his hands. There was no more appropriate reaction; that day, he lost the last thing he had left of his life in London. As of that morning, truly everything had changed.

Is Yoga Suitable For Older People
While Age Does Affect You In Various Ways Theres A Lot You Can Do To Limit Its Impact On Your Body Yoga Is An Excellent Anti
July 31, 2017
Along with the smile lines and gray hair, aging brings changes that are harder to see but very easy to feel, especially during movement. As you age, you’ll encounter general physiological changes in elasticity, stability, speed, strength, and endurance, as well as a different perspective on physical goals. Specific health problems emerge as we age, and these age-related illnesses might affect your yoga practice. Here, we offer our thoughts on how to modify your practice for these common ailments, and we detail the ways that yoga can actually relieve symptoms or has been proven to improve medical outcomes. From heart issues to less lung capacity, decreased bone density to hormonal changes, and to artificial knees, physical changes will affect and dictate the needs of a yoga asana practice, but in all cases, doing yoga will make you feel better.
% Of Yoga Students Practiced Online Yoga Before The Global Pandemic This Number Increased By 91% Amidst The Pandemic
Yoga statistics worldwide show that the global pandemic made things much harder for yoga students and teachers who were forced to switch to online classes. Naturally, the numbers are even higher amongst yoga teachers. According to one study, only 9% of teachers held online yoga classes before the lockdown. This number grew by 86% due to the closing of the studios.
From Chair Yoga To Hatha To Vinyasa Heres Your Guide To Eight Popular Yoga Types Every Older Adult Should Know
There are countless reasons to add yoga to your routine. Research shows a regular practice not only improves balance and mobility in older adults, but it may also help ease back pain, relieve depression, and even reduce blood pressure for people with hypertension.
“Yoga can help keep the body agile,” says Terry Cockburn, a yoga instructor and owner of Freeport Yoga Company in Freeport, Maine. “It can also help you maintain proprioception, or the awareness of where your body is in relation to everything else,” she says.
That translates to a reduced risk of falls—which is especially compelling, considering falls are the leading cause of injuries in adults older than 65.
So, if you’ve considered trying yoga, now is the time to do it! You don’t have to be flexible or experienced to get started. To help you find the best class for your fitness level and personality, we break down eight of the most popular yoga types.
% Of Yoga Practitioners Begin To Practice Hoping That Yoga Helps Them Release Tension Yoga Statistics Indicate
It is widely known that there’s a connection between yoga and health, and the statistics are very clear about it. More than half of US citizens state that it has a relaxing effect on their nervous system and musculature.
They also reported they were motivated to take up yoga in order to feel happier overall .
There Are 5505 Million Yoga Practitioners In The Us And 38% Of Them Are Over 50 Years Old
You’re never too old to start taking yoga classes. While the highest prevalence among yoga practitioners is among people aged 30-39, yoga statistics and demographics prove that there are no age limits and that anyone can practice yoga no matter their age.
Complex poses are usually what scares people off, thinking that you have to be a young, trained athlete to do yoga. In fact, everyone can benefit from this ancient practice; there are so many types of it that virtually anyone can find regimes that suit their age, shape, and preferences.
There Are Conflicting Beliefs On The Very Practice Of Using Cannabis Along With Yoga
While some claim that yogis should avoid consuming cannabis when practicing—supposedly it has a distracting effect, leading to the complete loss of focus. On the other hand, cannabis is very much present in yoga history. As a matter of fact, the Hindu Lord of Yoga, Lord Shiva, goes under the name as the Lord of Ganja, as that was the deity that gave humanity the gift of cannabis.
Yoga For Seniors Can Help With Balance Agility And Strength But Injuries Do Happen
The elegant, silver-haired woman poked her head tentatively into my classroom as students were setting up their mats and chairs for a “gentle yoga” class. “Is it okay if I just watch?” she asked, then told me she had tried a yoga class to ease pain in her neck and back, only to find that actually made her problem worse.
It’s a complaint I’ve heard many times, particularly from older adults: that the supposedly healing practice of yoga caused pain. As a teacher specializing in therapeutic yoga for seniors and people with health challenges, I often work with those who have had a negative experience in a yoga class, frequently because it was an inappropriate style or level for the participant or was taught by an inexperienced or poorly trained instructor.
“Teaching yoga at a senior center is an entry-level job in many communities, which means they’re putting the least-trained people with the hardest crowd,” says Gale A. Greendale, a professor of medicine and gerontology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. “There’s often a cacophony of preexisting conditions in this age group, and a yoga teacher has to be very skilled to not get older adults into trouble.”
Like any physical activity, yoga has risks, Greendale says, but “I believe yoga’s benefits outweigh its risks as long as people start at the right level, don’t progress too fast and make appropriate modifications.”
One Of The Greatest Understanding Is That The Chair Is Not A Prop But The Floor
Weiss Hospital Senior Center Class – 2016 – Sat Sevak Kaur Level 1 Teacher leads her Seniors through a beautiful series of movements, chanting and meditation.
Kundalini Yoga for Elders is for those who want to get their bodies back and for those that want to keep the healthy body they already have. It covers chair yoga, and yoga for Arthritis.
Do Yoga Asanas Increase The Efficiency Of The Immune System For The Elderly
Here, again, the Yoga Sutras provide us with insight. Sutra 2.16 states “dukham anaagatam,” which translates into “so that we can avoid the misery that has not yet come.” As we age, the efficiency of our bodies and the immune system’s defenses deteriorate, increasing the risk of sickness. Regular practice of yoga for seniors can lower stress hormones and inflammation, boost the immune system, and decrease the chance of sickness.
So whether you are 65 or 105, lay down your yoga mat, grab a chair, and get started with your yoga practice today!
While a regular yoga practice can result in improved health, know that it is not a substitute for medical treatment. It is important to learn and practice yoga under the supervision of a trained teacher. In the case of a medical condition, practice yoga after consulting a doctor. Do you need information on courses? More Than 34000 People Reported Injuries Caused By Yoga Practice In 2019
While yoga is a good exercise that can help people deal with stress and anxiety, in addition to becoming stronger and more flexible, an incorrect practice might lead to numerous injuries, especially if there are pre-existing musculoskeletal ailments. Therefore, it’s important to take proper precautions to avoid muscle damage.
Yoga injuries statistics show the most common problems include strains and overstretching of the neck, spine, legs, shoulders, and knees.
More Older People Are Doing Yoga But They Are Also Racking Up Injuries
Yoga may hold a key to aging well, suggests a growing body of research into its potential benefits for body and mind — benefits that include reducing heart rate and blood pressure, relieving anxiety and depression, and easing back pain. One recent study even raised the possibility of positive changes in biological markers of aging and stress in people who do yoga.
So it’s no surprise that the number of yoga practitioners in the United States has more than doubled to 36.7 million over the last decade, with health benefits the main reason people practice, according to the Yoga in America Study conducted last year on behalf of Yoga Journal and the Yoga Alliance.
While yoga enthusiasts are often pictured as young and bendy, the reality, according to the Yoga in America study, is that 17 percent are in their 50s and 21 percent are age 60 and older.
Along with this upsurge of interest has been an upsurge in injuries, particularly among older practitioners. “Participants aged 65 years and older have a greater rate of injury from practicing yoga when compared with other age groups,” researchers wrote last year in a study of nearly 30,000 yoga-related injuries seen in U.S. hospital emergency departments from 2001 to 2014. “While there are many health benefits to practicing yoga, participants and those wishing to become participants should confer with a physician prior to engaging in physical activity and practice only under the guidance of certified instructors.”
Yoga For Older Adults: 5 Health Benefits Of The Practice For Post50s
Beginning a yoga practice as an older adult can be intimidating, especially if you’re out of shape or working with health conditions. Although you don’t want to jump into a 90-minute hot yoga class with a group of younger practitioners, starting a gentle practice for beginners can be an excellent way to stay active and lower stress levels. Yoga can have a number of benefits for people over 50, from healthy bones to flexibility to anxiety relief. Ninety-four-year-old yogi Tao Porchon-Lynch swears by yoga as a way to maintain a positive attitude, relieve stress and age gracefully.
Yoga is not only safe for older practitioners, but also effective in keeping the mind and body in good health. If you’re thinking about starting a yoga practice, make sure to find a class and instructor who can meet your needs.
“People can either find an individual teacher to work with when they first start out, or find a studio that works with beginner classes, and see if they tailor to people over 50,” Eva Norlyk Smith, yoga teacher and Managing Editor at YogaUOnline, tells Huff/Post50.
“There’s a lot to learn, and most people over 50 run into issues like tight hamstrings, which affects alignment in so many different postures,” Norlyk Smith says. “If you go in and have a 20-year-old doing it perfectly next to you, you’re going to push yourself more than you should.”
1. You Get The Benefits Of Movement — Without The Strain.
2. Increased Flexibility.
3. Yoga Can Relieve Menopausal Discomfort.
Yoga For Seniors Boosts Your Brain Function And Cognitive Ability
Practicing yoga for seniors isn’t just good for the body but also for the brain in seniors. According to research made by a graduate student, Neha Gothe and her colleagues at the University of Illinois, it was discovered that doing yoga boosts brain function and cognitive ability. If you practice yoga 3 times per week for two months, it will improve your mental flexibility, improve memory, boost your brain function and cognitive ability.
Corepower Yoga Fought Coronavirus By Offering Free Online Classes
One of the biggest yoga studio chains, with more than 200 studios in the US, CorePower, offered free access to various yoga classes to members and nonmembers amidst the pandemic. Their idea was to publish one free class each week through their On-Demand portal. Besides the most popular classes , they also offered mediation classes and Livestream classes.
In comparison, based on the CorePower yoga rates, one in-person class costs $26; ten classes cost $218, while the Black Tag Membership is $149 per month.
A Gentle Yoga Practice Allows Seniors To Move Without Straining
Exercise is a critical part of healthy aging, but it presents certain risks to seniors. High-intensity exercises – such as running, cycling, and weight-lifting – can put a strain on the body and lead to injuries. A gentle yoga practice is an excellent low-impact exercise option. Yoga is not only safe for older practitioners, but effective in maintaining mental and physical health.
You should contact yoga studios and gyms in your area to determine whether they offer yoga classes for beginners and/or seniors. Arrive early before your first class so that you have an opportunity to speak with your instructor about what to expect during class. Let your instructor know about any injuries or health issues you have. Never overextend yourself on your mat, and move into postures only as far as you can. Ask your instructor for help if you need it. New practitioners should also remember that they can take a seated position or child’s pose if they need to rest.
How Does Yoga For Seniors Differ From Yoga For Younger People
Täo Porchon-Lynch is a shining example of the way in which the terms “old” and “young” refer to the state of the body, rather than numerical age. In fact, many older adults have greater flexibility than sedentary young people. In general, though, cardio-heavy flow practices and asanas that require abdominal strength can be more challenging for seniors, as can holding postures for long periods of time.
Yoga Videos For Seniors: Sequences For Your Exercise Program
Below, we’ll share a few yoga videos designed specifically for older adults. If you’re new to the practice of yoga, try working these sequences into your routine:

Does Yoga Really Help With Anxiety Yes It Works Like A Charm
Research conducted on 52 women has shown that their symptoms of depression and anxiety decreased dramatically after 12 sessions of hatha yoga. In recent years, yoga has become a widely known method of relaxation. Some yoga instructors even arrange their classes towards combating specific issues, such as anxiety or panic disorder.
But how does yoga actually help us calm down? Yoga postures , consisting of stretching, lengthening, and muscle balancing, work towards relieving the physical discomforts induced by anxiety. The research recommends it as complementary medicine.
Chair Yoga For Seniors: The Best Yoga Exercise For Seniors
What is Chair Yoga?
Chair yoga is a term used for practices that modify poses so they can be done while seated in a chair. These modifications make yoga accessible to people who find it difficult to stand, aren’t able to move easily from standing to seated to lying down positions That’s why chair yoga is a great way for older adults to get the wonderful health benefits of yoga, loosening and stretching painful muscles, reducing stress and improving circulation. By remaining seated you can safely do the exercises.
Myofascial Tightening Stiffness Due To Decreased Collagen
As we age, we lose flexibility in our muscles and connective tissue, which results in stiffness, imbalance, and less confidence while balancing. How yoga can help: If you don’t use it, you lose it! A regular yoga practice can help reverse some of that acquired stiffness. Gentle, regular stretching can help keep your body fluid and flexible. We’re often as amazed as our yoga students when we see the changes that habitual stretching and movement can confer. You don’t have to touch your toes, but yoga might get you a little closer to them.
% Of American Yogis Practice Acro Yoga And Wellness Yoga
A practice based on yoga, Thai massage, and acrobatics, aka , is the most popular yoga style among Americans .
17% of American yoga enthusiasts practice power yoga/yoga-pilates/yogalates, while 14% choose Anusara Yoga. Although yoga popularity among Americans is hugethe least popular practice is Jivamukti yoga, with only 2% practitioners.
Can I Use A Book Or Yoga Dvd Instead Of Going To A Class
It’s better to start with a class to learn the poses and breathing techniques correctly. With a DVD, there will be nobody to correct your mistakes, which may lead to injury over time.
With some experience of being in a class, a DVD can then be helpful for keeping up practice.

Yoga Improves Bone Health Flexibility And Joint Health
Gentle yoga is safe for those with osteoporosis, and can be effective in preventing and slowing bone density. According to NCBI, seniors who practiced yoga regularly showed no bone loss during bone scans, and some even gained bone. Those who didn’t practice yoga were shown to lose bone.
Yoga is a flexibility exercise that is great for those who experience joint pain or osteoarthritis, a common problem in older women. A weekly yoga program was found to be safe and helpful for women with knee osteoarthritis, showing numerous therapeutic benefits.

Perhaps, one of the best things about yoga for seniors is the chance to mingle and bond with others. This priceless addition keeps the mind engaged and happy, alleviating depression and loneliness. Enjoy your yoga at any age. Just keep some guidelines in mind.
Types Of Yoga: How To Choose The Right Kind For You
When you’re trying to determine which of the different types of yoga is best for you, remember that there is no right or wrong one— just one that might not be right for you at this moment.
“Like any form of exercise, choose something you want to do,” says Stephanie Saunders, executive director of fitness at Beachbody and a certified yoga instructor. “Bikram or Iyengar might appeal to you if you are a very detailed person. If you are more of a free spirit, vinyasa or aerial yoga might be fun. Find a class that makes you excited to go.”
So which one will get you excited? Our guide to the common types of yoga can help you decide whether you’re in more of a restorative yoga or a power yoga kind of mood, or anything in between.
How Does Yoga For Seniors Differ From General Yoga
The yoga asanas suggested for an elderly person may be the same as those for a younger individual. The difference lies in the effort and time spent in a posture, and the flexibility involved. However, if you have high endurance levels, you will be able to perform the cardiovascular movements and abdominal exercises to satisfaction.
Yoga For Seniors Improves Your Posture And Balance
Practicing yoga can also help you maintain your balance and will improve your posture. And all this results in fewer falls. Balance represents one of the first things all people start to lose when they get older. And balance is important for preventing falls because falls are the leading cause of death among seniors, according to an old report published in 2014 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in America. Doing yoga might improve your agility and mobility thanks to the precise and slow yoga movements.
More Exercise Means More Independence For Seniors:
Seniors that exercise regularly are less likely to depend on others. According to Harvard Medical School, regular exercise promotes an older adults ability to walk, bathe, cook, eat, dress, and use the restroom. If self-reliance is a priority, exercise is one of the best ways to maintain independence for older adults.
Best Exercises That Are Suitable For Senior Adults
Aging does not mean that you need to retire from your gym or workout sessions. But many older people tend to slow down and become more sedentary with age, which can be due to health problems, pain issues or worries about falling. A more sedentary lifestyle can also give rise to new health concerns.
That’s exactly why it’s important to stay fit and healthy, especially as you get older, and exercise plays an important role in this. Exercise is good for all, whether you are a child or a senior.
Regular exercise offers great benefits for seniors, including an extended lifespan, reduced risk of falls, better muscle health, improved bone density, better sleep, reduced risk of a stroke or heart attack, reduced risk of developing dementia, and increased confidence and independence.
So, with increasing age, you should give more importance to your exercise routine. But keep in mind, the aging body is not capable of bearing the burden of all types of exercise.
You need to choose the right exercise regimen to reap the benefits.
Here are some of the best exercises that are suitable for senior adults.
If you wish to stay healthy and mobile well into old age, start walking.
Walking is a perfect way to start exercising and most seniors can do it. This type of moderate-intensity exercise is highly beneficial.
Another good part about walking is that it requires no special equipment, aside from a pair of comfortable walking shoes. Also, it can be done anywhere.

Does Yoga Count Towards My 150 Minutes Of Activity
Most forms of yoga are not strenuous enough to count towards your 150 minutes of moderate activity, as set out by government guidelines.
However, yoga does count as a strengthening exercise, and at least 2 sessions a week will help you meet the guidelines on muscle-strengthening activities.
Activities such as yoga and are also recommended for older adults at risk of falls, to help improve balance and co-ordination.

A More Passive Exercise Approach For Older Adults
There are some days when we cannot keep up with a regular yoga routine. Yet, it is recommended for older adults to engage in regular exercise activities to maintain healthy circulation.
LegXercise is a more passive yet equally effective exercise alternative designed for days when we simply do not have the energy or the strength to engage in other active exercises.
LegXercise is a passive exercise technology that moves the feet back and forth to mimic the natural muscle activity of walking, all in the comfort of your home while sitting down and enjoying your choice of book or TV series.
Find An Instructor Or Class That Is Right For You
Whether online or in-person, it’s important to choose a yoga class that matches your skillset. There are many online resources available to help you kick-start your yoga journey — from live classes with Silver Sneakers, modified chair yoga , and filled with instructors who have experience teaching yoga to seniors. Whichever you choose, remember that it’s always okay to start slow.
Chair & Standing Routines: Ageless Yoga Volume 1
Led by Harvard University Center for Wellness instructor John Schlorholtz, this is a great chair yoga DVD for older adults who have difficulty getting down on the floor. It features a variety of routines that offer you a choice of either sitting in a chair or using a chair for stability while standing.
Know To Modify Or Direct The Poses And Sequences
“In a mixed level class of students over age 50 with many physical problems, especially in ongoing group classes where it is not uncommon to have new students drop in, I recommend starting with simple lying down poses that are generally safe for everyone, yet challenging for more experienced students, such as leg stretches, hip openers and twists. Be sure students with a rounded upper back have adequate support under the head, so their head is level,” says Francina.
Reasons To Practice Yoga In Your 70s And Beyond
1. Improve balance
Yoga tones muscles and works on your proprioception — your sense of position in space. Practicing postures that emphasize standing and balance can help build strength and confidence, too. “About 80 percent of proprioception is in your ankles, so standing poses are important, particularly for people in their 70s,” explains Payne “As you get more sedentary, your sense of balance atrophies. ‘Use it or lose it’ really does apply.”
You can save on eye exams, prescription drugs, hearing aids and more
2. Sharpens your mind
Unfortunately, as we age, our thought processes aren’t as sharp as they once were. The upshot: A 2016 International Review of Psychiatry study reported that practicing yoga relaxation techniques for 30 minutes had immediate beneficial effects on brain function and performance among people with multiple sclerosis. “Focusing on the breath and synchronizing it with movement helps keep the mind clear and engaged,” Atkins says. Breathing exercises such as alternate-nostril breathing help harmonize the left and right hemispheres of the brain, which correlate to the logical and emotional sides of the personality.
3. Boosts mood
Yoga’s combination of breathing, meditation and movement creates an overall sense of well-being. In fact, studies show yoga has a greater impact on enhancing mood and reducing anxiety than other forms of exercise. The reason? Yoga boosts levels of the brain chemical GABA, which helps calm nerves.

The word ‘Old Age’ gives both positive and negative notions. There are societies where seniors and elderly people are given due respect and they are the guardians. Earlier, they were given admiration not only by the family members but also by the entire neighborhood. In today’s society, they are ignored and disgraced by their own family members. An Introduction To Gentle Yoga For Older Adults Margaret ManningHealth and Fitness
When I ask the members of the Sixty and Me community what is holding them back from building their dream life after 60, poor health and excess stress are the two most common answers.
It sometimes feels like, by the time we reach our 60s, we have a lifetime of tension locked in our bodies. On the inside, we feel young and vibrant. On the outside, we feel more than a little stiff, tired and out of shape.
The problem is that, when we feel disconnected from our bodies, everything else in our lives suffers. We are more irritable around our friends and family, causing unnecessary tension. We are less likely to get out into the world and pursue our passions. We are limited in our travel options. Simply put, when our bodies are suffering, we suffer.
Strike A Pose: The Benefits Of Yoga For Seniors
Have you ever considered trying yoga? September is Yoga Month, so it might just be the perfect time to give it a go!
What is yoga?
Originating in India around 6 B.C., yoga is a mind, body, and spiritual practice that blends physical poses and breathing exercises to achieve peacefulness of body and mind, helping participants relax and manage stress and anxiety.
Also called postures, yoga poses are movements intended to increase flexibility and strength. From lying flat on the floor while completely relaxed to complex moves that require intense balance and practice, yoga poses can range from simple to challenging.
Because breath signifies your vital energy, controlled breathing is a key component of yoga. Yoga practitioners believe that controlling your breathing pattern can help you control your body and calm your mind.
There are many styles, forms, and intensities of yoga. A good choice for stress management, hatha yoga is one of the most common styles; its slower pace and easier movements also make it a good choice for beginners and for seniors.

If you are at-risk for disease, exercise may be the key to warding off an unpleasant condition.
Treat Students Individually Regardless Of Age
Don’t judge a student by their age, but by their abilities and limitations at any age. “At the beginning of class, ask students if there’s anything specifically wrong that you should know about,” suggests Rosen. This includes chronic conditions such as hypertension and osteoporosis. Of course, you can’t assume everyone has a bad back or arthritic knees because of a few gray hairs, but you job is to figure out which students do need extra help.
As a teacher, you know that anyone can benefit from yoga at any age. “In 40 years of teaching I’ve learned that students of all ages, including octogenarian beginners, can benefit from the safe-practice of all categories of poses,” says Francina. The best thing is to approach them with “great kindness, patience, and props.”

Beginning Yoga Exercises + Poses For Seniors
Some of the best poses for beginners and seniors are detailed below. Remember to only go as far as you can with each of the postures. Every pose can be modified to meet your needs, but it’s good to consider getting professional instruction rather than going it alone.

Combining cannabis and yoga makes for an enjoyable practice. Achieving a meditative state might seem like a simple task, but some people find it hard to just sit still and “do nothing”.
If you have trouble turning off your stream of thought, CBD oil can assist you by slowing down your thought processes, replacing them with some calmer vibes. Still, it’s not a magic wand or potion. Also, the intake of CBD can be different, as well as the effects. People react to CBD in various ways.
Yoga Is For Everyone Especially Older Adults
One of the biggest misconceptions about yoga is that it is designed primarily for younger people, who want to increase their flexibility. In reality, no group can benefit more from yoga than older adults.
In the introduction video, Cat talks about one of her students that came to her class with a challenging medical condition. This person was unable to twist or raise her hands above her shoulders, but, after just a few months of practice, she was able to work her way up to a handstand.
Of course, yoga is not a replacement for traditional medicine and you should always talk with your doctor before starting any new exercise program, but, the results that people see are often powerful and surprising.
Gentle yoga is perfect for older adults. It’s easy to get into. It’s a self-paced activity that we can do from the comfort of our own homes. Perhaps most importantly, it addresses many of the specific challenges that we face as we age including sore joints, stress, muscle tension, flexibility and balance.
Reasons Why Older People Should Take Up Yoga
Uncategorized
Yoga is a great way for the elderly to safely improve their physical and mental condition. Starting yoga later in life may seem like a big task, but it is not at all. You can take yoga classes at any age and at any level, even in a chair. But it is important that you find a yoga class that suits your level and needs. The many advantages of yoga for the elderly outweigh any excuse not to do it! That’s why we have listed five advantages of yoga for the elderly.
1. Yoga improves your balance and stability
An ugly fall later in life can have major consequences. For example, many elderly people break their hips. That is why it is important for the elderly to maintain good balance. Many yoga postures focus on this and at the same time strengthen the muscles that contribute to better stability. Yoga not only helps the elderly to prevent falls in the first place, it also helps them to get up and recover from a potential fall if one does occur.
2. Yoga makes you more flexible
The body’s flexibility decreases with age. This can lead to physical limitations, complaints, and accidents. Stretching, and particularly stretching during yoga, makes you more flexible and increases your range of motion. This leads to you being firmer in your shoes and feeling more confident in everyday life.
3. Yoga generates stronger bones and muscles
4. Yoga keeps your brain sharp
5. Yoga makes you happier
Yoga For Seniors Promotes Your Overall Well
Yoga practice is a wonderful form of exercise at any age. Research shows yoga benefits your mental and physical health, helping to strengthen muscles, improve balance, lessen anxiety, improve depression, and decrease your risk of falls.
When beginning a yoga practice, find an in-person beginner’s class or follow along with online videos. Be sure to find a type of yoga that works best for you, looking for classes titled restorative, hatha, beginner, or chair yoga.
When starting any fitness routine, be sure to speak to your physical therapist or healthcare provider. In addition, be sure to schedule your daily Snug check-in so you’re not just healthy, but safe. If your family member or friend opted to receive your daily check-in, they know you safely completed your workout — and perhaps your newly-formed fitness routine will encourage them to start their own.
Exercise Improves Balance For Older Adults:
Falling down is a much bigger deal for older adults than younger ones. Every 11 seconds, an older adult is admitted to an emergency room for a fall-related injury, and every 19 minutes, a senior dies from a fall, according to the National Council of Aging. Though no two falls are alike, and preventing falls is very complex, regular exercise reduces the likelihood of falling by 23%.
Chair Yoga For Seniors: A 30 Minute Routine
You might want to do this chair yoga routine along with your older adult so they can watch your movements.
It’s a fun activity to do together and you’ll get the health benefits too!
The only equipment that’s needed is a sturdy chair that allows your older adult’s feet to touch the floor.
An optional accessory is a belt, , or long hand towel to aid in stretching.
In case you want to skip around, we’ve noted the time markers for each section of the routine.
Warm up poses for heat and circulation This is a great way to warm up the body, improve flexibility, and reduce pain.
This section lasts 10 minutes and could be a nice short routine in itself.
Standing poses for balance and strength These yoga poses are done while holding on to the back of the chair.
If your older adult isn’t strong or balanced enough to do this section safely, it might be safer to skip it.
Lower body poses for flexibility In this section, a belt or strap helps with stretching – any long belt, , small towel, or sturdy rope will do.
Even if your older adult doesn’t use a belt, they can still benefit from the movements.
Shavasana is a restful pose usually done at the end of a yoga class. Just relax and focus on breathing slowly and deeply.

Proven Qigong Benefits + Beginner Exercises
June 10, 2016
Qigong History & Interesting Facts
Qigong is considered a collective term for a long-established, extensive set of exercises first created in China more than 2,000 years ago. As many Eastern medicinal practices continue to gain popularity in the West — including acupuncture, meditation, and yoga — qigong and are also going mainstream.
Eastern practitioners have known about the benefits of qigong for centuries, and today Western scientific research is following-suit, confirming that qigong can help prevent and manage many different health problems. The ancient practice is especially beneficial for older adults and people who are chronically stressed out.
In 2010, a meta-analysis published in the American Journal of Health Promotion found that after reviewing 77 articles on qigong, the research demonstrated consistent, significant benefits associated with the practice. Key benefits include: better bone density, cardiopulmonary effects, physical functioning, reduced falls and related risk factors, improved quality of life, lower psychological symptoms and better immune function.
The Best Types Of Yoga For Senior Citizens
Whether you’re aiming to get stronger and more flexible or you just want to decompress and still your mind, yoga can help. But with the dozens of different styles that exist, it can be tough to figure out which type is most appropriate for you. Remember that a key consideration is your physical condition and fitness level. Always consult your healthcare provider before beginning any new exercise regimen.
Here are eight types of yoga that may offer what you need:
Yoga Improves Flexibility And Joint Health
If you’re looking for a gentle exercise that increases flexibility, yoga is a great option. Flexibility exercises such as yoga are great if your joints tend to be achy or stiff. In a study that looked at the effectiveness of yoga as an exercise to manage osteoarthritis in elderly women, researchers found that it provided therapeutic benefits.
Not only can these low-impact moves loosen your muscles, they can also tone your supporting muscles and help prevent injury.
Your Bones Will Have An Extended Lifespan:
Brittle bones leading to osteoporosis and fractures are quite common in women who are 60-plus. Yoga can help in slowing down the pace at which you are experiencing loss of bone density. The pains and inflammations experienced will also be smoothed out. Studies suggest that women above 60 who practiced yoga for at least 2 years actually gained bone mineral density.
Prevention Against Alzheimer And Parkinson
Here comes a detail I do use in the warm ups of my “chair-groups” with the focus on prevention against Alzheimer and Parkinson:
I let them do horizontal eights with the lumbar region in the vein of sufi circles, bringing the spine far to left and right.
I let them close their eyes and imaging the center of this movement as a wandering star circling perfect eights. I let them circle these eights as symmetric as possible with full concentration.
To end this movement, I give them one minute to let the eights become smaller and smaller, still inhaling front, exhaling back.
I let the eights become so small, that the movement is no more visible, still keeping the rhythm of the breath.
This is a very good way to enhance body coordination and balance. It centers in a verymeditative way. Try!

What To Know Before Your Yoga First Class
Using a chair for balance during your practice is a safe way to build strength & modify poses .
Going to your first yoga class can be daunting, but once you get there, you’ll probably find it’s a friendly and welcoming space! However, this brief overview of what you can expect may help put your mind at ease:
Yoga For Seniors: The Only Guide You Need
Yoga is an easy and safe way to improve both your mental well-being and overall health, especially for people over 60. Yoga for seniors can improve their balance and flexibility.
However, that is not all. The benefits of doing yoga when you’re over 60 are countless. Read on to learn everything about yoga for seniors and all the benefits that come along.
Yoga For Seniors Can Help You Reduce Pain
Chronic pain is a common issue among seniors, especially the pain that’s associated with joint problems and arthritis. However, thanks to yoga, you can say goodbye to the pain. It’s a natural remedy for chronic pain. According to a study made by Sonia Gaur of the psychology department at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, it was proven that people who practiced yoga for 90 minutes, 3 times per week for 4 weeks, experienced a decrease in aches and pain. Also, most of the patients reduced their intake of pain medications.
Regular Exercise Improves Brain Function:
One of the most remarkable developments in health science is the revelation that the mind and the body are much more closely linked. A healthy body likely means a healthy mind, and seniors that exercise on a regular basis have improved cognitive health, according to research from NCBI. More recently, a study from the Alzheimer’s Research & Prevention Foundation, regular exercise has been shown to reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease or dementia by nearly 50%.
Why Yoga For Older Adults Is So Important
Since good health is central to finding happiness after 60, I set out to find a solution to the problems of stress, tension and pain that many of you told me that you were dealing with.
After talking with experts in various fields, I settled on gentle yoga as the best place to start and set out to find an amazing teacher. Eventually, I had to send my team all the way to beautiful Bali to work with the amazing, Cat Kabira.
Cat is an amazing woman, filled with warmth, generosity and passion. She has also been teaching yoga for 14 years and has worked with thousands of people over the age of 60. We absolutely fell in love with her!
Before we filmed the actual yoga sequences, we sat down with Cat to film a short introduction to gentle yoga video that you can watch on this page. Our goal was to demystify some of the aspects of yoga and talk about its transformational potential. Even if you decide never to purchase a yoga video or attend a class, I hope that you will take the time to watch this introduction.
Here’s what I learned from Cat’s introduction to gentle yoga for older adults.
Yoga Doesnt Require Any Special Equipment
Another misconception about yoga is that it requires lots of expensive equipment to get started. It’s true that having a yoga mat can make your yoga journey more comfortable – especially if, like me, you have sore knees. But, the truth is that many of the yoga instructors I talked to said that they started without any equipment at all.
In the introduction to gentle yoga video at the end of this article, Cat explains some of the equipment that you might want to consider using. She also provides alternatives to some of the more popular items. For example, books can make an excellent substitution for a yoga block and pillows can replace a bolster.
The bottom line here is that money should never be a reason to avoid starting your yoga journey. Yes, yoga videos, mats, blocks and bolsters help. But, even if you just visit your local library and check out a book on yoga for free, that’s a great start too.
Yoga Can Be A Gateway To A Healthier Life
Perhaps the most important message that I took away from the introduction to gentle yoga for older adults video is that yoga is a gateway to a healthier life. Earlier, we talked about the negative spiral that we enter when our health prevents us from engaging in the world.
The opposite is also true.
As you begin your yoga journey, you will start to feel different in your body and your mind.
As you gain confidence and flexibility, you will be more likely to step out into the world and explore your passions. As you eliminate stress and tension from your body, your relationships with others will improve. As you learn to listen to your body, you will gain an appreciation and respect for the nutrients that it needs and will be more likely to make healthy eating choices.
If I have one wish for our gentle yoga video series, it’s this – I want as many people as possible to get on the path to a healthier life after 60. I want us to break the stereotypes about aging and show the world, and more importantly ourselves, that life after 60 can be filled with vitality, energy and passion.
Have you tried yoga before? What was your experience? What is the one thing that you would most like to get from your yoga practice? What is the one thing preventing you from getting started? Please add your thoughts in the comments below.
Your Guide To The Different Types Of Yoga
Yoga has come a long way in the past few years. Take a look at any studio’s schedule and you’ll see so many different types of yoga, from ashtanga yoga and kundalini yoga to aerial yoga and acro yoga. You might have even heard about — or tried — some of the more modern and unusual iterations of the ancient practice: hip-hop yoga, HIIT yoga, and naked yoga…just to name a few.
Yoga practice is thousands of years old. However, it only arrived in the US in the late 1800s and only firmly took root within the last few decades. Since then, yoga has gone from a practice associated with hippies, to one that’s practiced by nearly 37 million people.
And not all of these millions of people go to a yoga studio to do their downward dogs. If you like to unroll your mat at home you’re not alone: That’s the number one place people practice.
How To Start Practicing Yoga For Seniors
Yoga practice increased dramatically in popularity in recent years, with the number of yoga practitioners raising from 20.4 million to 36 million from 2012 to 2016 according to the Yoga Alliance. In addition, there are more older practitioners than ever before, with over 14 million practitioners over the age of 50.
These numbers tell you that yoga is for everyone — including older adults. With that said, you should always exercise caution when starting a new fitness program. Work directly with your doctor or physical therapist when devising an exercise plan, and work within your fitness level.
Here are a few yoga-for-beginners tips to help you get started:
Find a yoga teacher: Check your local library, YMCA or YWCA, or Silver Sneakers clubs for a list of yoga classes. You may be surprised to find free or discounted classes for seniors.
Follow along on YouTube: If you live in a rural area or somewhere that in-person classes are not available to you, follow along with yoga videos online. Below, we’ll share a few yoga videos for seniors.
Find the type of yoga that works best for you: Hatha yoga, restorative yoga, and yoga with chair exercises are usually more suitable for older adults because they’re slower paced. They involve holding poses for longer periods of time. Vinyasa, ashtanga, and power yoga are fast-paced yoga practices, with inversions and other advanced movements.
Yoga Promotes Good Bone And Joint Health
As you age, your bones naturally lose density and joints become stiffer. A gentle yoga practice can be effective in preventing and slowing bone density loss, and is safe for those with osteoporosis. Whether you are looking to prevent osteoporosis or relieve painful symptoms caused by an existing bone condition or fracture, yoga postures and stretches can be extremely beneficial. Regularly moving your joints can help reduce stiffness and joint tenderness.
Tell your yoga instructor about any bone conditions you have. He or she may be able to provide you with props such as blocks, straps, and inflatable balls that can help you avoid further injuries.
Cbd Helps Prolong The Duration Of The So
Scientific yoga facts prove that when we are feeling blissful, our brain produces the neurotransmitter called Anandamide . Since this blissful neurotransmitter is fragile and it stays in our body only temporarily, we are not always blissful.
Research has shown that CBD has the power to “defeat” the enzyme responsible for breaking down Anandamide, thus prolonging the state of bliss, which is produced when you’re practicing yoga as well.
The Best Yoga Studios For Seniors In Nyc
While you can certainly learn yoga from the comfort of your home, taking a yoga class under the guidance of a qualified teacher will allow you to perform the moves correctly and minimize the risk of injury. What’s more, yoga classes foster a sense of community and belonging—the word yoga itself means “connection?—an important factor in maintaining positive mental health and well-being.
Here are some of the best yoga studios in New York City with classes for all ability levels, including excellent low-impact options for seniors, where you can stretch, relax, and connect with others.

What Kind Of Asanas Are Best For Seniors
If you are easily fatigued, it is best to substitute warm-ups for walking and gentle joint movements, such as wrist and ankle rotations.
Standing yoga postures such as Triangle Pose .
Yoga postures done while lying on the back or stomach, such as Cobra Pose can help to strengthen the back and increase flexibility in the spine.
Yoga Nidra, or , is by far the most essential part of any yoga practice, and with age, the pose becomes even more essential to help assimilate the effects of yoga practice into the body.
What Type Of Class Should I Look Out For
Classes can vary in duration but typically last between 45 and 90 minutes. A longer class will give you more time for learning breathing and relaxation techniques, and will give the teacher time to work with your individual ability.
It’s worth speaking to a teacher about their approach before you sign up for a class.
Yoga Can Keep The Mind Sharp And Focused
Exercising the mind is just as important as exercising the body, especially in seniors. The simple meditation that yoga practices helps individuals stay centered, energized and relieve stress. It’s even shown to improve moods. By focusing on your thoughts and feelings in addition to your body, you’ll achieve a more overall awareness of self through the practice. Yoga is also shown to help fight feelings of depression, which is very common among seniors.
As you’ve read, yoga can work physical and psychological wonders for the aging population. By incorporating a regular yoga routine, seniors can experience an improvement in their quality of life that can go a long way toward physical and mental health and overall wellness.

Discover The ‘Secret Sauce’ That Will Supercharge Everything In Your Life And Change Your Destiny At Will Simply By Applying This Simple ‘I Can’ Principle And Attract Virtually Anything You Want In Life!
From The Desktop Of Carolyn Hansen
Dear Self Improvement Enthusiast,
Right now, I am going to share with you something that will blow your mind:
Tumblr media
“At any one time, the decisions you make will change the rest of your life forever!”
That is how powerful your thoughts are – you have the ability to change the rest of your life just by thinking certain thoughts.
Unfortunately, most people simply do not know how to harness their mind at all.
Like an out of control wild stallion, people do not know how to tame the power of the mind and it winds up flipping them around like a roller coaster and they wind up thinking and attracting all the stuff they don’t want.
Instead of manifesting their dreams, their minds become a breeding ground of negativity and nightmares.
But there is always a better way than getting stuck in this rut, right?
In fact here’s a true story about how someone went from literally nothing to someone that triumphed against all odds simply because he believed that he could…
From Paralyzed To Powerful…
Have you heard of Bill Bartmann?
His company was named in “Inc. 500”… again! This is the fifth time this ultra successful mogul has made the list.
But most people wouldn’t imagine that this mogul used to be a high school dropout and an alcoholic who had tripped down a flight of stairs when he was drunk.
He got paralyzed and the doctors almost wiped out his future by telling him that he would never walk again – cut down at the ripe young age of 17.
Can you imagine if you were told that you would not be able to walk again at that age? Can you imagine the trauma a young 17 year old with his whole life ahead of him would feel?
The despair would probably eat most teenagers alive.
But he wouldn’t have it – he made up his mind from the start that he would DEFY his destiny. He refused to resign to living the rest of his life in and out of a wheelchair and he did what most people would never do.
As he sat in his hospital bed, he willed himself into moving his toe.
He spent days, weeks just trying… to move ONE toe.
And it took him a lot of effort just to do it, and eventually he made it!
Since that miracle, he spent every single night in the hospital engaging in a regimen of intense physical activity which was equivalent to an Olympic level workout for his condition.
He finally regained the use of his legs by sheer willpower and the belief that he could do it against all odds.
Did You Know That You Have That Same Power Within You To Create Extraordinary Results In Your Life?
I’m going to be very honest with you here…
You have the same ability within you – to manifest anything you want and it would be such a terrible shame to let it go to waste.
You have the power within you to:
I believe that you have all the power within you and I’m going to show you how to harness this power right now!

I have learnt so much from this book, it was a tremendous eye-opener for me because it showed me how to be honest with myself and how to live life to my fullest potential.  I’m really excited and feel like I can take on the world now. LOL. Many of the issues you wrote about totally mirrors my life.  And I thought that was amazing! This is probably the first time that I have ever experienced anything that has helped me overcome my procrastination habits in a real and tangible way.
– Nancy Newman – age 29
“I Can. Therefore, I Will”, is dynamite! From first page to last, it went above and beyond what I had expected.  To be honest, I thought it was going to be another compilation of positive-thinking hash. This book is completely different! You’ve got to read it for yourself to see what I mean. I feel she has deposited something very meaningful in me through the pages of this book.
– Shannon Bonner – age 44
Congratulations on your new book!  We have copies of your other books too, including “Weight Loss Motivation Bible”. I can’t begin to tell you how much you have already helped us to improve our life. Last year we lost over 15 pounds between us, thanks to your easy weight loss guides. I can’t wait to get started on, “I Can. Therefore I Will”. It sounds like explosive stuff!
– John and Paula – ages 48 – 50
Your book is brilliant. Surely worth its weight in gold!  It’s so perceptive that everything you say makes absolutely perfect sense. It’s focused to help people like me overcome low self-esteem, unproductive habits and irrational fears. Thank you for inspiring me to get on the right track and a new mindset to achieve my goals and enjoy new successes.
– Amy Mayers – age 32
I love your book!  I especially liked Chapter 7. Your book doesn’t just give a bunch of ambiguous answers to some vague questions. It really delivers! Thanks so much for this genius piece of work!
– Ian Strand – age 53
I separated from my husband of 8 years in November last year.  I had felt then as if my whole world had come crumbling down. I cried when I read your book. It’s both inspiring and powerful!  You’ve showed me that I have so much to live for and so much to look forward to.  You’ve helped make me stronger.  I only wish I had found your book sooner.
– Stephanie Cormier – age 35
Are You Ready To Access Your Inner Power And Create Your Dream Life?
If you are feeling overwhelmed by this realization of your inner power, don’t worry – I know exactly how you feel when I first realized this power within myself.
Therefore, I would love to share with you a modified quote inspired by a powerful spiritual activist and expert – Marianne Williamson.
Tumblr media
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make and manifest the glory of the infinite universe that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
All I can say is most people tend to fear success more than failure.
They are afraid of the responsibility they have to bear if they actually succeed.
The fear that:
Tumblr media
You will actually be responsible for having millions of dollars in your bank account to manage
Tumblr media
You will be surrounded by positive, encouraging friends that will help you to get to the next level (whether you like it or not…)
Tumblr media
You will have to be with the love of your life – a person who loves you and cherishes you
Tumblr media
You will have tremendous confidence in your life to do anything you want without fear
Tumblr media
You will be living your dream lifestyle and really, truly be happy
If this dream scares you, then you DO feel the prompting from the universe or from your higher self.
Then I strongly encourage you to take the next step and go all the way with this.
Don’t hold back and let your light shine!
And best of all, I will completely eliminate all risk from the equation:
The last thing I can say is this and this is a quote from the popular movie – ‘The Matrix’:
Morpheus: I’m trying to free your mind, Neo. But I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it.
Tumblr media
So don’t hesitate and walk through the door now by grabbing a copy of this course!
To your success!
Carolyn Hansen
P.S. Your life begins right now. Remember that at any one time, the decisions you make will change the rest of your life forever and you’ll only know for sure once you invest in this course
P.P.S. You are protected by my 100% money back guarantee so don’t worry about the risk. It’s all taken care of.

Need to Know Basis:
Hey loves!!! This one is a request from @juggiebettyy
“I'm not really sure how to put in request and idk if you want to even do this but: imagine Betty and Jughead dating in secret and Veronica spies them one day through a window from a classroom (like how juggie found out about Archie and Grundy) and when she tells the rest of the group they don't believe her but when they all hang out they start to notice things they didn't before (there's a name for this but idk) and maybe they confront them? I just kind of really want to see this :)”
I’m not thrilled with the way this turned out, but I hope you enjoy it! Xx
Oh and for anyone having trouble with the “read more” link here is the AO3 link-
http://archiveofourown.org/works/11328585
“Hey Jug,” Betty greeted, walking into the Blue and Gold room.
Jughead, who had been glaring at this laptop, averted his eyes from the screen and directed them toward the blonde.
A small smirk found its way to his face as he took her in. Her hair was tied back in its usual pony tail, but her body was clad in her cheerleading uniform; one that gave him a generous view of her long, slender legs.
“Get lost on your way to the football field?” He asked, eye brows raised and running a hand through his unruly raven locks, beanie long discarded in frustration.
Betty shrugged moving to sit on the edge of his desk, the short skirt riding a little higher up her thighs with the action. Jughead’s eyes followed the fabric distractedly for a moment, before he remembered himself and met her eyes again.
It was Betty’s turn to smirk as she noticed his obvious ogling, her heart fluttering in her chest and her stomach swarming with butterflies.
“Ha ha. Actually I came armed with vending machine food to battle your writers block.”
To accentuate her point, Betty dropped some candy bars and a packet of chips on the desk in front of the sardonic boy.
Jughead felt that warmth in his chest that was beginning to become quite familiar in her presence. He was fast learning what it was like to be cared for and about by another, all thanks to Betty Cooper and her adorable little gestures.
“You are an angel I swear,” Jughead exclaimed dramatically, his face lighting up with a grin that made Betty blush.
Jughead’s eyes softened as he took her in. She really was an angel. Her hair gold to match her heart, big green eyes that could manipulate him into doing anything she asked, long lashes that brushed her cheeks delicately when she blinked, full lips, smooth skin and stunning smiles. And that blush, god it enticed him; rose pink spreading from her cheeks to her chest- something he had been delighted to discover.
Moving from his chair, Jughead positioned himself so that he was standing between her legs, his hands settling on her cheeks.
“Does anyone know you’re here?”
Betty smirked then and the way her eyes lit up with a devilish glint made him almost desperate to kiss her.
“No, they were all too dizzy on hair spray fumes to notice I snuck away,” she laughed, her own hands hooking through his belt loops and pulling him closer to her.
“Good,” he mumbled against her mouth. And then he was kissing her.
It wasn’t that they were keeping “them” a secret, it was more like a need to know basis.
Their romance had developed astoundingly rapidly over the course of the year- well when they really thought about they think maybe it had been a long time coming, but it seemed to have happened astoundingly quickly once they both realised what was right in front of them. And it wasn’t that they were ashamed to tell people it was more that they were afraid to let anyone else into their little bubble. What they had was special and beautiful and so honest, something they would rather keep safe from this town so tainted with lies. They didn’t feel the need to parade their relationship around and make it everyone else’s. They were content with it being there’s and nurturing it here in these quiet moments.
Their kiss was sweet and slow, but not without passion. Their lips moved over each other in a sensual dance, savouring the taste of one another. He was kissing her with the kind of pressure that was still innocent enough for the spare minute they had but promised so much more for later.
Her tongue darted out to swipe his bottom lip teasingly and Jughead gladly accepted the gesture with a low groan, angling her head for better access to her sweet lips.
It was at that exact moment that Veronica happened to approach the class room designated to the school paper.
She had noticed Betty’s absence and decided to hunt her down before Cheryl noticed and went on a pre-game rampage. Plus it was almost time for them to head out onto the field anyway. She had sent the blonde a few texts, but upon not receiving a reply decided to search physically. The Blue and Gold had been the first place on her list.
And it seemed she had been right on the money when it came to “places to go to find Betty”. What she had not expected to find however, was her best friend perched on a desk, with her legs wrapped around a certain tall, dark and James Dean-esque beanie wearing boy, whose lips were currently attached to said best friends.
Veronica’s eyes widened in shock as she processed the sight before her through the little window in the classroom door.
A gasp filtered through her lips as a perfectly manicured hand came to cover her mouth.
The raven haired beauty wasn’t sure what she was most astounded by- the fact that Betty and Jughead were apparently a thing, the fact that they were apparently a secret thing or the fact that she hadn’t noticed until now.
After a few more moments, the pair broke away from their embrace and seemed to be exchanging parting words. Composing herself, Veronica moved hastily away from the door and retreated down the corridor again.
A few hours later Veronica, Kevin and Archie were sat in a booth at Pop’s for their traditional post game milkshakes. Jughead had insisted he was on a roll with his novel and couldn’t be interrupted while Betty had declined due to her mother insisting she went straight home; Veronica hadn’t bought either excuse, and had tried her hardest to suppress the knowing smile on her face when Jughead offered to walk her home. They were so cute! How could she not have realised this earlier.
“You guys will not believe what I discovered today,” the New Yorker began with a scandalous gleam in her dark eyes, quirking a perfectly shaped eyebrow.
“You’re actually a Kardashian?” Kevin supplied, his own face expressing enthusiastic intrigue at the prospect of gossip.
“Better.”
Kevin was practically bouncing now, while Archie just looked at her with raised brows indicating his own interest.
Veronica waited a moment for dramatic effect before leaning in close and whispering, “Betty and Jughead are dating.”
Kevin looked at her in confusion while Archie burst out laughing.
“You’re kidding right?” the red asked, his shoulder’s still shaking with humour.
Veronica shook her head furiously.
“No you guys, I swear.”
“And how exactly did you come up with this teen rom-com stereotype?” Kevin prompted, still clearly disbelieving the girl before him.
“I caught them making out.”
Archie just laughed harder.
“Sure you did Ronnie.”
Veronica glared at the boy’s across from her irritated by their lack of faith in her gossip weaning skills.
“Laugh all you want Archekins but this is no joke. Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones were getting putting the “hot” in “hot of the press” in the Blue and Gold before the football game tonight.”
It was silent for a moment, both boys seeming to consider this piece of information. Veronica sipped her milkshake daintily, waiting for the follow up questions and theories.
“Okay let’s say they are a thing,” Kevin began to reason, “Why wouldn’t they have told us. I mean Jughead I get, but surely Betty would have said something.”
Veronica shrugged, her dark brows furrowing. That was one piece of information she was still trying to decipher herself.
“I don’t know. But I do know that they are doing a lot more than investigating Jason Blossom’s murder in that office of theirs. And how about the fact that they both just happened to have excuses for not joining us tonight?”
Kevin nodded slowly, seeming to catch on to her suspicions.
“She does make a good point there. And he did walk her home…”
“Na I’m not buying it,” Archie shook his head, “Betty and Jughead are my best friends. I’ve known them forever and neither one of them has ever expressed that kind of interest in the other. Besides Betty likes me.”
“Or liked as in past tense. And anyway if that were true than how do you explain what I saw tonight Archie?” Veronica implored, leaning back into the booth and crossing her arms over her chest.
“Temporary insanity?”
It was Monday morning and Veronica was pretending to get books out of her locker, while really keeping her eyes trained on Betty and Jughead who were at Betty’s locker down the hall. She was alert and ready to catch them out on more “couplie” things today. Veronica Lodge was never one to be deceived.
“Morning Ronnie,” Archie’s voice came from behind her. Veronica jumped; apparently she was one to startle.
“Archiekins,” the dark haired beauty greeted, her eyes not straying from Betty and Jughead for long. He was leaning against the locker beside hers, while Betty gathered her books.
Archie’s own eyes moved toward Veronica’s line of sight, noticing his best friends down the hall. He sighed, shaking his head.
“They’re not together let it go.”
“Oh but they are! Seriously, look at them, she’s totally swooning!” Veronica made a sweeping gesture toward the pair.
Betty was laughing at something Jughead had said, her eyes alight and an easy smile on her face. Her cheeks held a faint blush and she hugged her books a little closer to her chest.
“They’re just talking?” Archie stated dumb founded.
“No, they’re flirting,” she insisted.
Archie squinted in their direction, as if he was looking at a hidden picture and was trying to decipher it. Betty did look slightly flustered, but he was positive Jughead didn’t “flirt”.
“Veronica!” Kevin suddenly exclaimed, bustling down toward the duo to join the congregation at her locker.
“You were right,” the flamboyant boy gasped, slightly out of breath from the physical exertion of rushing toward them.
“Veronica Lodge usually is, but do impart the reason for your change of heart on us,” she stated, eyes sparkling at the prospect of gossip.
“Okay so I was hanging out with Betty yesterday doing homework. Mundane, until she’s leaning over to read my text book and I notice the huge hickey on her neck! She tried to cover it up but I know one when I see one. Plus the reason she couldn’t study with me Saturday was because her and Jughead were ‘working on the Blue and Gold’.”
Veronica turned to Archie with an arched brow.
“I told you! So what do you have to say about that Archie?”
“They’re not together guys. You’re just making something out of nothing.”
By the end of the day Archie was sick of hearing about Betty and Jughead. Veronica and Kevin couldn’t seem to help themselves. It was as if, since Veronica had brought it up, the two gossips were seeing the world through a “bughead” [as they were now referring to the pair as] lens.
“Seriously though did you see them at lunch, she might as well have climbed on his lap with how close they were sitting.”
“Yeah and how long have they been sharing food like that? I didn’t know Jughead shared food.”
“Or the heart eyes he’s been sending her way!”
They were incessant and it was driving Archie mad. He wasn’t entirely sure why the whole idea made him so uncomfortable. He couldn’t work out whether it was the idea of Betty-and-Jughead that was causing knots to twist in his stomach or the idea that there was a Betty-and-Jughead and they hadn’t told him about it.
“And the way he put his arm around her when she was talking about Polly-“
“Okay that’s enough guys! He was just being a good friend I would have done the same if I was sitting next to her,” Archie cut in, frustration evident in his voice.
Veronica and Kevin paused, exchanging a look. The former recovered from the shock of the outburst first.
“That may be true Archie, but would he have done the same for me?” She asked with a look that suggested she already knew the answer.
Archie sighed, running a hand over his face.
“You know what? Let’s just go and ask them.”
Kevin clapped excitedly, following the music playing jock out of the student lounge, Veronica close behind them. She mumbled something about a rude awakening, but Archie was too determined to pay mind to the snide comment.
Soon enough they were in front of the Blue and Gold. This time the window was obscured by a little blind, which made the entrance they were about to make even more suspenseful.
Swinging the door open they were met with the sight of Jughead sat on the couch, with Betty straddling his waist, her hands in his hair, while his were dangerously low on her back… their mouths locked in a heated kiss.
“Oh my god!” Kevin and Archie exclaimed at the same time; the former as though it was Christmas morning, while the latter seemed horrified.
“Oh my god!” Betty mirrored, her own eyes widening in shock from being caught, while Jughead remained passive.
“I told you!” Veronica shouted at Archie with glee, a knowing look present on her face.
“I… you guys… what?... when?!” Archie floundered, his words stuttering and his mouth opening and closing like a fish.
In any other situation Jughead would have laughed.
“Hey guys,” Betty began. Her voice placatory and ready for damage control, her face red as she awkwardly moved from Jughead’s lap to stand.
Jughead got up too, resting a reassuring hand on her back. Betty offered him a warm smile before turning back to the situation at hand.
“Hey guys?!” Archie mimicked with exasperation.
Betty grimaced, while Jughead righted his beanie.
Kevin looked absolutely enthralled, while Veronica watched the scene unfold with baited breath. She had her own questions, but she knew now was not the time.
“Well what do you want us to say?” Betty asked defiantly, though her posture lacked the same sentiment.
“I want you to tell me why the hell you two were making out!”
“We’re together Arch,” Jughead deadpanned and the room fell eerily silent for a moment as the words sunk in.
“You’re together?” Archie repeated slowly after a moment, blinking rapidly.
Jughead nodded, and moved his hand to wrap around Betty’s shoulders. The blonde placed one of hers over that hand and entwined their fingers. The smile the dark haired boy gave her was so full of adoration, Veronica felt her own heart flutter.
“I’m enthralled,” Kevin whispered to her, unable to peel his eyes away. Veronica nodded eagerly.
“How long?” Archie asked after another pregnant moment. His anger seemed to have dissipated now and he was left in a state of resignation.
“About a month,” Betty answered honestly, but carefully.
Archie’s eyes bugged.
“You’ve been together for a month and you didn’t tell me!” He looked hurt now and his long time best friends each felt a pang of guilt.
“As adorable as I think the two of you are, I have to sympathise with Archie on this one. Why didn’t you guys tell us?” Veronica interjected calmly, but Betty could tell she was slightly offended as well.
“It wasn’t that we didn’t want you guys to know as such… It was more like we didn’t want it to be anybody else’s yet. That doesn’t make much sense does it?” Betty sighed, a frown pulling at her lips.
Kevin shook his head, “not at all.”
“I think what Betty’s trying to say is that we kind of felt like as soon as we told you guys- anyone really- then it would become another thing that belonged to Riverdale and not ours anymore and with all the shit going on lately we were kind of enjoying having something that was just between us, something… sacred,” Jughead explained.
The other’s nodded, beginning to foster some kind of understanding toward the pair’s decision.
“And it kind of just snuck up on us too. Like we didn’t really realise we were in a relationship until one day we just kind of were. I’m sorry though if we hurt you guys or made you think we didn’t trust you it was just kind of a… need to know basis.” Betty finished, looking at Jughead for confirmation before turning her nervous gaze back to their friends.
“Well as much as I am disappointed to be getting the news late. I do approve and if you’re happy than I’m happy B,” Veronica stated warmly.
Betty beamed at her.
“I am.”
“Good, well in that case I’ll need all the juicy details later,” the darker girl finished with a wink.
“I knew it from the moment I saw that hickey,” Kevin joked good naturedly and enjoying the way the pair squirmed at the mention of their apparent sex life.
“Achie?” Jughead asked, his tone wasn’t necessarily hopeful, more like expectant.
Archie sighed, looking down at his sneakers for a long moment before turning his gaze on the two people he had known and loved practically his whole life.
“If you guys are happy. I’m happy.”
“Thanks Arch,” Jughead offered and he did look genuinely relieved that Archie was okay with it. Betty shot him a grateful smile.
Archie nodded. But for some reason he couldn’t shake the twisting in his gut. Again he was conflicted as to its meaning. He genuinely wanted his friends to be happy. So why did seeing Jughead’s hand tighten on Betty’s make him queasy? Why did her love sick smile that was suddenly pointed at Jughead make him feel a pang of emptiness?
He convinced himself it was because he hadn’t noticed. Because they had kept it a secret. Because he was the third wheel now. But was it?

Negative Inputs
I’ve been thinking about writing this for a long time, but never really found any answer. As usual, starting something is the hardest part to do. Finishing it is another story. I’m sure every one of us has had the experience in which people said:
“Oh, that’s hard”
“Hmm, you’ll have problems with that”
“Are you sure that you want to spend that much money just to see a seminar?”
And of course, there are different types of comments. I think there is no problems with accepting comments and criticism, but it can be a problem if we process it wrong. For example, if someone said that you’re not good at doing something and you start believing it, then you’re making the comments come true. You’re proving that what people say about you is true. For me, this is scary (because I’ve done it and it doesn’t feel right).
It’s getting more confusing isn’t it? But I’ve had some experiences where people kept saying how I am and how I should be. In that case, I was more confused and feel….. lost. I know, I shouldn’t feel that way because inside me, I know who I am. The problem is when we are growing up (which I am), we are looking for our identity. Identity, in this case, means deeper than just being able to say, Hi My name is Wiwin and I am from Indonesia. Identity means that we understand ourselves, what we like and don’t, our values and beliefs, and basically our life principles. Once you find the answers then that’s the sign of adulthood. Welcome to adulthood. Are you an adult?
Well, some people don’t really think about this and can go through adulthood fine because everyone is doing it. Simply put, it’s called normal. But I think it’s important to understand several things.
1.We change overtime.
Yes, we get older and physically we change. The most important change we have to focus on is behavioral change because it is created by our experiences and our values. Do you still remember how you were 5 years ago? Hmm, I am trying to remember (the sign of getting old, it’s harder to remember things isn’t it? haha). Let me start, 5 years ago I was 15 years old and just graduating from middle school. If I think about it more carefully, the 15-year old Wiwin was a very shy person, but focused on school fine. She was a quiet person who enjoyed being ‘alone’ because it was safer than being in a group or in a crowd. Well, now it’s your turn. Think back, look at yourself 5 years ago and compare it to now. What’s the difference? I’m sure, you’ll find the difference. The point that I want to make here is that realistically, people change overtime and that is normal. We just need to be a better person. Yup, better. I have a close friend who has changed and that’s fine. Our problem was that we couldn’t connect anymore because our values and ideas have changed our perspective and it’s not good for both of us, but we agreed that we are different therefore just accept it and respect one another.
2. Be careful with your own thoughts.
After taking Mind and Body health online class, I am more aware of my own thoughts. It’s funny because I never really thought about my own thoughts that much. I used to write more in my diary and I enjoyed it, but I write less now and I have to keep it up because I really like writing things down and it’s good for your health haha. Okay, let’s go back to the topic. From that online class, I watched several TED Talks videos about taking care of our mind. By the way, if you’re not familiar with TED Talks, simply put it’s like a seminar where people who are expert on their field share ideas. So, it’s very fun to watch. You can go on YouTube and watch their videos. Going back to the topic again, we often tell ourselves things that we would not say to other people. For example, if I just made a mistake then what usually happens is that I would tell myself “Wiwin, you’re so stupid, how can you do that” or “You’re stupid, lazy, slow, and useless” or “Wiwin, you don’t have any talent and you’re not gonna go anywhere.” Some people get motivation this way, if these comments are from people that’s probably too rude. But, we often do this to ourselves. We have conversation with ourselves that often demotivate us because we start believing in it. This is a reminder for me to be careful with my own thoughts because whatever it is that I think is right, maybe I am correct. If I think that I am a failure, my mind would find its way to prove that I am a failure and vice versa. So, be careful on taking in the inputs to your mind. Think of it like eating. If we eat ice cream, burgers, and junk food all the time, guess what will happen to our body? Yup, bad things. But if we have the right input, then we can get the right outcome.
3. Listen to the right people and don’t be stubborn.
We all have someone or people who we listen to and that’s a good thing to be able to exchange ideas. Talk and listen to the ‘right people’ who give you the ‘right’ advice and not just to make you feel good, but to make you learn. I personally think that if you have a person who can talk to you with honesty without hurting your feeling, that’s the best combination. So, if you can’t find one, be one. This is an advice for me because I am very stubborn when I get hurt inside. That’s not a good thing because it hurts you and other people. So, don’t try that haha. Surround yourself with the people who make you want to be a better person. The people that make you feel ‘alive’ and want to be ahead. Again, if you haven’t found one, be one because you’ll meet the right person at the right time.
4. Forgive, Forget, Let go all the hard times and the wounds.
I’m sure we’ve heard that we should remember the good things people do to us, forget ours and remember the bad things we’ve done to people and forget theirs. I agree with that idea, although automatically our brain likes to remember the best times and the worst times. In this case, I just want to say that we are all humans and we make mistakes. We just need to learn from our mistakes and avoid hating people. If someone hurts your feeling, try to think that you might have done it to someone else, so it’s better to forgive (smile), forget the event, and let go. Focus on the good things in life, the good things people have done for you. Just for you. If the thought of someone who hurt you comes, distract it with other things. Learn to live peacefully.
These are some thoughts from my experiences that I hope are useful to share. The main thing is that life is very short, use the time wisely, do what you enjoy doing, don’t hurt or hate people and always be grateful. Writing might help too!
Change negative inputs into positive ones. Why? Because you can:)
Sincerely,
Wiwin Hartini

HERE'S WHAT I JUST REALIZED ABOUT STARTUPS
They don't have to work hard in two dimensions. In my childhood it was still dominant. I wrote this for Forbes, who asked me to write something balanced. Just as startups rightly pay AWS a premium over the cost of running their own servers so they can focus on growth, many of the big companies of the 20th century meant most people who weren't already in it.1 That would definitely happen if programmers started to use handhelds as development machines—if handhelds displaced laptops the way laptops displaced desktops. What was really happening was de-oligopolization. Needless to say, Frederick's of Hollywood got the most traffic. Imagine how much time you could save the world's engineers if they could do searches online.2 With Robert this quality is wired-in.3 Why didn't Henry Ford realize that networks of cooperating companies, you have a big pool of potential users in the other companies we've funded, and the difference is embodied in the name.
This is the type of abuse we may be able to solve part of the indictment. When I was a kid I thought they helped. It's a cliche to call World War II, as Michael Lind writes, the major sectors of the economy were either organized as government-backed cartels or dominated by a few oligopolistic corporations. The form of fragmentation, like the idea that professors should do research as well as Newton, for their time, at least at first. But in practice it's as if RIM didn't exist. Companies that use patents on startups are attacking innovation at the root. They're like someone looking at a newborn baby and concluding there's no way anything so short and written in such an informal style could have anything useful to say about such and such market share. An essay is something else. It's like telling the truth, but why he's writing about this subject at all.4 VCs want to blow you up, in one sense of the phrase or the other. One of the founders we funded asked me why we started Y Combinator is neither selfish nor virtuous. US, seems to have been two ways of thinking about programming.5
In the case of contemporary authors.6 A few hours before the Yahoo acquisition was announced in June 1998, we consumed what at the time. They just wanted to keep people from getting spammed. I'd prefer it. They're a product of unusual circumstances.7 One possible exception might be things that have deliberately had all the variation sucked out of them, and above all, it helps them be decisive. Our greatest PR coup was a two-part one. But how had I come to believe in this idea in the first place.8 But as with wealth there may be a valid or at least inevitable form, but it's not the best way to get growth started.9
Its graduates didn't expect to do the sort of person who gets demoralized easily. By the end of Y Combinator before they hired their first employee. Transaction processing seemed to them what e-commerce partnerships, we were paying the piper. He's not just generally correct, but also to index and even edit them.10 That would be a pain to fund with grants and donations. Fundamentally an essay is a train of thought—but social and economic history, not political history. So if doing good for people gives you a sense of mission that makes you harder to kill, that alone more than compensates for whatever you lose by not choosing a more selfish project. It is enormously fun to be able to come up with surprising new ideas. He thought for a second, and said ok.
The market was pioneered by upstarts like Apple. Why didn't Henry Ford realize that networks of cooperating companies, you have to sound intellectual.11 But schools change slower than scholarship. Why do we find it funny when a character, even one we like, and worry only about the ones we don't.12 Whether cause or effect, this spirit pervaded early universities. Their revenues aren't as high as they could which turned out to be valuable for hardware startups. At the bottom of the heap are the trade press, who make most of their money from advertising and would give the magazines away for free if advertisers would let them. All startups are mostly schleps.13 If you want cohesion now, you'd have to induce it deliberately. Then the ones that won't make such a pledge will be very conspicuous. It's even the answer to questions that seem unrelated, like how to convince investors to give you money.
I think the reason Google embraced Don't be evil has been good for Google.14 Topic sentence, introductory paragraph, supporting paragraphs, conclusion. Something else was waiting for him, something that looked a lot like the army. In the past when I bought things from Apple it was an unalloyed pleasure. If programmers used some other device for mobile web access, they'd start to develop apps for that instead. Microsoft does to users, all the news was bad. But if ephemeralization is one of them: a list of heroes. Anyone can adopt Don't be evil so eagerly was not so much to impress the outside world as to inoculate themselves against arrogance. They felt a two-part one.
So what's interesting?15 2 T1s 3 Mb/sec coming into our offices.16 She writes so well you don't even notice her. In the UK, where taxes were even higher than in the US, its effects lasted longer. Those are like experiments that get inconclusive results.17 Palm and RIM haven't a hope. If Microsoft was the Empire, they were.
Notes
The solution for this point for me was the fall of 2008 the terms they were saying scaramara instead of just Jews any more than investors. There is a convertible note with no business experience to start, e. Bullshit, Princeton University Press, 1996. The Harmless People and The CRM114 Discriminator.
Options have largely been replaced with restricted stock, the laser, it's easy to write great software in Lisp. Realizing that much better than their lifetime value, don't even try. Garry Tan pointed out an interesting sort of investor quality. And not others, and partly because so many people mistakenly think it was considered the most powerful minister of the founders lots of people mad, essentially by macroexpanding them.
I learned from this that most people realize, because unions will exert political pressure to protect one's children seems weaker, judging from things people have told us that we don't use code written while you were.
How much more analytical style of thinking. In fact, for example I've deliberately avoided saying whether the 25 people have responded to this day, thirty years later Jim Ryun ran a 3 year old, a day job. The word boss is derived from the other hand, he tried to attack the A P supermarket chain because it was more because they couldn't afford a monitor.
I've twice come close to 18% of GDP, which amounts to the hour Google was founded, wouldn't offer to invest the next Apple, maybe 50% to 100% more, and for filters it's textual. Why do you use in representing physical things. I realize starting a startup or going to lie to adults.
The solution for this at YC I find hardest to get all the more subtle ways in which case immediate problem solved, or pigs, to pretend that the usual misquotation is closer to the table. Selina Tobaccowala stopped to say, but no more willing to endure the stress of a lumbar disc herniations, but it's not lots of back and forth. For example, if you pack investor meetings as closely as you get older or otherwise lose their energy, they are so intellectually dishonest in that respect. For example, to the prevalence of systems of seniority.
They're common to all cultures with long traditions of living in a world with antibiotics or air travel or an acquisition for more than clumsy efforts to protect widows and orphans from crooked investment schemes; people with a toothbrush.
Corollary: Avoid becoming an administrator, or at least 10 minutes more. I'm not saying it's impossible to write every component yourself, if you needed in present-day trash. No one wants to invest the next year or two, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
Now the misunderstood artist is not a problem that I knew, there were some good proposals too. There is of course, Feynman and Diogenes were from adjacent traditions, but there are those that made them register. For the price of an investor is more important to users, at one point they worried Lotus was losing its startup edge and turning into a de facto consulting firm. Few non-broken form, that alone could in principle is that intelligence doesn't matter in startups.
I was surprised to find may be common in the old one was drilling for oil, over fairly low heat, till onions are glassy.
Steven Hauser.
Though you should start if you repair a machine that's broken because a unless your initial investors agreed in advance that you can eliminate, do it now. Roger Bannister is famous as the face of it. It derives from the formula. At some point, when they say.
But those too are acceptable or at least notice duplication though, because software takes longer to close than you otherwise would have started to give up legal protections and rely on cold calls and introductions. Above. There's a good deal for you. Starting a company has ever been.
So although it works well to show growth graphs at either stage, investors treat them differently. Indeed, it seems.
Sokal, Alan ed. It was also the 11% most susceptible to charisma. So instead of blacklist.
Software companies can hire skilled people to start software companies, but I managed to screw up twice at the moment the time 1992 the entire cross-country Internet bandwidth wasn't enough for one video stream. There are a better education.
Aristotle's immediate successors may have realized this, on the programmers had seen what GUIs had done for desktop computers. Russell also wrote the editor, which has been happening for a startup to duplicate our software. In fact this would be. Though nominally acquisitions and sometimes on a wall is art.

Thank you for inspiring me to get on the right track and a new mindset to achieve my goals and enjoy new successes.

Why Should You Listen To What I Have To Say?
My name is Carolyn Hansen and I am fitness expert, serial entrepreneur as well as a personal development enthusiast.
I used to be in your shoes.

Why Should You Listen To What I Have To Say?
