Hazbin Hotel x Seraph! Reader (platonic)

Info and get to know her

My first small oc idea that I'm making an x reader type deal! Info:

Reader: angel name Eliora, fallen name (y/n) || 150 years old? (aka 15 in human years ?? I'm guessing cuz Charlie presents like a 20 year old while being 200+ ) aka child seraph that is smaller than emily and around a few inches shorter than lucifer || blended Blush on the cheeks and nose, little heart nose

Angel form looks: gold halos around her neck, wrists and ankles along with above her head, eye on her collarbone area and one on the back of her hands, pastel/soft colors for this form, dress is a flowy yet comfortable gown with ballet flats || 6 wings from her head, can transfer them to be bigger wings on her back

Fallen: horns sprout from her forhead like Charlie and lucifer (because she's not acclimated properly to hell she can't hide them) || her gold halos are now black and slightly broken/bent) || she now has a heart tipped demon tail || more red colors but still light, colors darken with anger/negative emotions || main outfit is an sweetheart topped a-line dress with a black headpiece with an attached veil (your imagination to what you want the headpiece to be), for shoes she has simple black heels over some black tights || has both set of her wings (head and back) showing most of the time, her head wings act like ears now moving to her emotions

More notes: sweet, innocent but not necessarily naive (she knows things but is more innocent as inexperienced), shy, kind, sometimes there's not a thought behind those eyes (innocent puppy look), affectionate, can fight only to protect others, She is aroace (because I am and I said so)

Likes: chocolate, Saf, animals, Lucifer and Charlie, red and purple, lemon rasberry soda, hugs, seeing those she cares for happy

Dislikes: cruelty, unfair punishment, pure evil, the dark, being alone, the cold, others crying, herself crying in front of others, burdening others

Readers angel pet: a small seraph (just an eye with wings, basically acts like a bird + a puppy) named Saf (short name for a small seraph, get it, I'm not sorry)

Eliora is known as God's little princess, she's favored among the elders as she is very innocent, Adam likes her too (takes on older brother role). Though everyone thinks she's too sympathetic towards sinners and hellborns (alongside lucifer).

The fall, it wasn't really a fall as much as it was banishment. She got wrongly accused by a jealous winner who wanted to rise in ranks, she befriended Eliora only to betray her and frame her. Unfortunately no one believed Eliora's innocence even with proof that she was (fearing she had become too much like lucifer). She was banished to hell, she can't become too demonic since her sin wasn't true nor actually done that's why it lightly affects her appearance but the longer in hell she is her body will change to adjust.

When she was sent, Lucifer witnessed it, immediately taking her under his wing. He gave her the name (y/n) to help her try to move on. After a while of taking care of her he let's Charlie know of her existence. Of course this becomes found family and well you get it... It's a new adventure of reader joining the Magnes family to bring sinners to redemption!!

I'll do a more indepth Prologue but for know this is your summary and info to know!!

Angel dust- big brother (he treats you like Molly ain't gonna let anyone forcefully take your innocents)

Husker- same as angel but more of a 2nd father figure (he got claws that he will use)

Alastor- weird uncle that becomes like a distant father figure (he trying to avoid soft spots but it seem you happen to remind him a bit of his mother [in the loving kindness sense])

Sir pentious- Weird cousin that is also weirdly a younger siblings that's actually older than you (immature older person with mature and caring younger)

Nifty- she is like a young aunt that acts like your older sister in a weird way and we love it

Rosie- Mom (need I say more lol)

Cherrybomb- your her Lil sister and she is going to bring you into all the chaos

The knocking at your door on your day off stirred you from your sleep. Groggily heading towards the door and opening it whilst rubbing sleep from your eyes with the heel of your hand. The knocks were too light for William, and you weren't expecting any packages, so there was some trepidation as you answered.

Blinking against the bright light, you were surprised to see the petite and lithe figure of Sarah Emily on your step. Blonde hair tied up neatly into a ponytail and wearing jeans with a white t-shirt, looking like a casual woman around your age unless you looked closely and could see the crinkles around her eyes from years of smiling.

"H-Hey! Um...Hi Sarah." You said after a moment of confusion, looking down at yourself and realising that you were wearing William's hoodie again and some shorts. Blushing at the fact this was the second time you had answered the door to somebody you knew whilst dressed in such a state.

"Well good-morning sleephead! I thought I would stop by and come see you." She laughed, giggling more as you gestured for her to come inside and shut the door behind her. Padding into your kitchen and taking out two mugs from the draining board next to your sink, turning on the kettle and finding your instant coffee and tea.

"Tea, coffee?"

"Coffee, milky with two sugars please." Sarah replied, amused at seeing you still somewhat out of it and wearing Afton's hoodie. She recognised it from the similar one Henry had, tucked away back in his closet somewhere in case he wanted to wear it one day. Not that he, nor Afton wore those kinds of things often anymore since the opening of Freddy's.

"So um...how have you been?" You asked, waking up a bit more as you grabbed milk from the fridge, making coffee for Sarah and yourself as you placed them on the counter. Leaning against the cool lino and feeling your attention wandering as you realised that Sarah had a slightly mischievous look on her face. "And I'm guessing this isn't entirely a 'I was in the neighbourhood' call."

"Good good, Charlie's been a little terror recently, but she's sweet otherwise. And you caught me! I wanted to know if you wanted a girly day out, and then, we go on that double-date I mentioned last time?" She asked, making you choke on your coffee slightly, nose burning as the action nearly made it come up through your nose. Coughing to gather yourself, you found yourself looking at your hand and the mug.

"I don't think I've ever...had a girly day? But I'd like the date later!" Sarah raised an eyebrow before she looked incredulous, her slender hand resting over her heart as she looked at you.

"You've never...NEVER... had a girly day out?"

"Nope."

"Get some pants on and get in the fucking car, we are rectifying this, now!" She exclaimed, downing her coffee and making you do the same, wincing as the heat slid down your throat before you half-ran to your room. Throwing on some deodorant, a subtle body-spray and some somewhat clean jeans and a t-shirt over your underwear. Dragging a brush through your hair and huffing as you almost tripped over yourself trying to pull on your socks and boots. Sarah standing by the door and your door keys dangling from her fingers, grin plastered on her face as you grabbed them from her.

"Why did we need to rush again?"

"Oh, no reason, but it was quite funny to watch." She laughed as you locked the front door, laughing harder as you gave her a stern look. Heading to her car and climbing inside, sighing as you rested your head against the seat and closed your eyes briefly.

"William! How're you doing buddy?" Henry called as he opened the office door, making William jump slightly as he was disturbed from his intense concentration on some of the blue-prints in front of him. Pushing his glasses back up his nose, he sighed and looked towards the smaller man. Noticing how his hair was loose and wild despite his professional appearance.

"You only call me 'buddy' when you need something Henry, what is it this time?" Henry placed a hand over his heart and pouted, dramatically leaning against the door frame and sinking against it like he'd just been shot before he stumbled into the office.

"You wound me! I don't do that! You are my buddy!" William scoffed and rolled his eyes at his dramatic business partner before looking back down at the plans in his hand. Scribbling on a separate piece of paper to note some measurements and calculations whilst he heard Henry lean against the desk. Almost hearing the smile in his voice as he spoke again.

"Anyway, me and Sarah are going on a date tonight and we were wondering if you and your little girlfriend would like to join us and make it a double date?" William sighed and set the papers down on his desk, looking over his glasses to see Henry's wild grin. Afton sucked on the inside of his cheek before replying, going to pick up the paperwork on his desk once more.

"Absolutely not, the last time you attempted something like this Henry, Sarah practically bit Clara's head off and you got so pissed you walked half an hour down the high-way before we found you."

"That was college! And secondly, you'll let your girlfriend down if you don't show!"

"I'm sure she also said no to this stupid idea."

"Actually, Sarah's gone to her house and they're having a little trip to get all dolled up for this date tonight." Henry smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck as William dropped the papers and rubbed his hands over his face. Groaning loudly and leaning back in the chair, making it creak under his weight.

"You mean to tell me that Sarah, your wife, has kidnapped my girlfriend and is playing dress-up with her?" Running his hands through his hair whilst glaring at Henry, who nodded with the same, stupid grin plastered on his face. Afton groaned again and put his head in his hands.

"Fine, you sick bastard, I'll come. Just leave the address on my desk and tell me what time to be there."

"Don't forget to bring a condom William, I'm sure that afterwards you'll-"

"HENRY, DON'T BE A FUCKING PERVERT." Henry cackled at his friend's outburst, holding his hands up in defence, laughing harder as William reached into the drawer and chucked balled up paper at the man as he retreated. Leaving William to hide his face in his hands and groan in frustration, wishing his friend had at least asked him before kidnapping you via his wife.

"What about this one?" Sarah asked you, showing you a swatch of an eyeshadow on the back of her hand and you hummed in thought as you looked at it. Shaking your head after a moment. "Oh come on," she groaned your name slightly as she put back the little tester tub. "you have to like something I show you!"

"I'm sorry Sarah, I'm just not...I don't really even do my own make-up. I wear mascara and some lip gloss occasionally, I don't do..this." You gestured to the large make-up counter that you were both at. Glancing over the bold and bright colours that Sarah seemed to favour, brow knitting together as you picked up a container and opened it, looking at the dark green shade inside before closing it and putting it back.

"Maybe we're doing this in the wrong order!" Sarah clapped her hands together before grabbing one of yours, dragging you behind her and almost tripping over your feet with the force the small woman was surprisingly able to move you with. You supposed that she was a mom, so perhaps it was from having to move a reluctant child...or Henry. You could also see Henry having to be dragged away from stores a few times by his wife.

She pulled you into a boutique in the mall, blinking as you adjusted to the new lighting inside and looked around. Spotting plenty of dresses lining the walls and making you groan. You couldn't remember the last time you'd found a dress you would even consider wearing, let alone wearing one, and they all seemed so formal, you'd hoped that you could get away with a nice top and some cleaner jeans for the date. Sarah seemingly had other ideas as she began browsing the racks.

Under encouragement, and a few teasing words, from Sarah, you began looking too. Hands idly flipping through the dresses and cringing as some of the material felt awful under your fingers, others just a plain ugly colour that you wouldn't be caught dead in.

"Can I help you find something?" The voice made you jump and you turned to see an elegantly dressed shop assistant standing near to you, heart pounding in your chest as you looked back at the dresses for a second, brow furrowed and a soft sigh escaping your lips as your shoulders slumped.

"I um..I'm going on a double date tonight and apparently I have to wear a dress..so..yeah. Just trying to find something I like honestly." You say, speaking quietly as your fingers scanned through the materials before the woman cleared her throat again, grabbing your attention once more.

"Well, what colour does your date usually wear?" They asked, making you pause only for a moment before you answered.

"Black."

"Well, I'm guess you're newly together, so matching might be a little much. But I can suggest some colours that work well and we'll figure out style from there." She smiled, making you give a polite smile back as she gestured towards another part of the store. Practised eyes scanning through the dresses and flickering back to you before her hands darted out to pick out a few dresses before taking you back to the dressing rooms, where Sarah was already admiring herself in a dark green dress that hugged her figure perfectly, a long slit up her leg and showing it off.

The assistant handed you the dresses and shooed you into a dressing room, pursing your lips together before you obeyed. Hoping that there would be at least one thing you liked amongst the pile.

Sarah carefully brushed your eyelids with a careful precision that you were unsure you would have ever been able to manage. Feeling what felt almost like a brush-pen moving against your lid and out before you heard the click of a lid closing. Her slender hand grabbing your chin gently before you heard another lip pop, your eyes closed as you let the older woman manoeuvre you and do your make-up as she saw fit.

You jumped slightly as you felt a cool wetness against your lips, making the woman tut disapprovingly as she tightened her grip slightly and coated your lips, letting go of you as she spoke. "Press your lips together for me dear." Following her instructions and feeling some of the stickiness dissipate before your eyes fluttered open, blinking rapidly as you glanced up at her.

"Go on, check yourself out little lady!" She squealed, helping you to stand up in the tiny kitten heels she had somehow convinced you to wear as well. Focusing intently on walking as you walked up to the mirror that Sarah had placed on the floor so that you could get a better look at yourself.

Your hair had been set loosely around your shoulders, styled to perfection and looking glossy, healthy. You were surprised by how lovely the dress looked, a soft purple chiffon with translucent sleeves and a 'v' shaped neckline, allowing the swell of your breasts to be visible as well as the dip of your collarbones. The middle wrapping tight to your body to show off your waist before the skirt flowed down, coming to your knees and floating slightly like something you saw in fancy prom movies. It looked almost a similar shade to purple that you were sure you had seen William wearing before. And Sarah had masterfully applied winged eye-liner to your eyes, darkening your lashes with mascara and the faint shimmer of nude coloured eyeshadows could faintly be made out. Your lips glossy and tasting like almonds.

Stepping behind you, Sarah's blonde hair was tied up into a classicly braided updo, two curled strands framing her face as you noticed she had similar make-up to how you had it. The dark green dress from earlier looking stunning on her as she placed her hands on your shoulders, smiling brightly.

"You look gorgeous, dear."

"I feel like I'm a little girl playing dress-up." You sighed, smoothing your hands down your dress carefully and frowning slightly, making her tut as she took your hands, bringing them up and smoothing over your knuckles with her thumbs.

"You don't look like it. William is going to not know what hit him when he sees you." She smiled, making you blush and smile back, nodding your head as you allowed her to guide you through the house and out to the waiting taxi. She'd driven her car back home and gotten a taxi back to yours, calling for one to pick you up and take you out to the restaurant that apparently William and Henry were waiting at.

You shifted nervously in your seat, watching the streets blur past before Sarah gently nudged your bag towards you, smiling as you opened it and took out a little bottle of perfume. The only expensive one you owned, it was your signature one for more 'formal' occasions, and it seemed like as good a time as any to use it. Carefully applying it to your pulse points, the smell comforting and exciting as you put away the bottle. Sarah applying her own perfume and touching up her gloss a bit as the ride seemed all too short and all too long at the same time.

You made out Henry's car parked up, frowning as you noticed you didn't spot William's, stomach sinking as you climbed out of the taxi whilst Sarah paid before she linked arms with you.

"I told Henry to pick up William, they're both at the table and waiting for us." She reassured, noticing your worried expression with a comforting squeeze of your hand. Heels clicking against the concrete as you both headed inside.

It was far more formal than any place you'd been before. And your silly plastic bracelet felt out of place in there. You felt out of place in there. Waiters in white shirts and black pants ran about with towels over their arms, the walls wood panelled and the floor a beautiful, rich patterned marble tile. Your heart pounded in your chest as you allowed Sarah to drag you along.

Henry spotted the pair of you and gestured for William that you had arrived. Watching the pair of them squeeze out of the booth as you approached, your breath catching in your throat slightly.

Henry had his hair loose, revealing all it's fluffy, curled glory that was still cropped somewhat close to his head. Clearly freshly shaven and dressed in a dark green suit that matched Sarah's dress, crisp white shirt and a black tie, he looked ecstatic that he had matched his wife, seeing him tear up slightly as he caught sight of her.

But you lost your breath with William. Dressed head to toe in black. he had put on tailored black pants that seemed to highlight how long his legs were, as well as how strong they looked. Sleeves rolled up on the black shirt, tight across his broad chest in a way that made you afraid he would pop buttons if he flexed in the wrong way. His greying hair slicked back and his eyes slightly wide behind his glasses as he drank you in. You smiled as he raised his hand and you spotted the bracelet still on his arm, feeling comforted that he had continued to wear it despite the more formal setting.

His jaw fluttered slightly as he watched you approach. Wearing one of his favourite colours and the slight way you wobbled when you walked as you clearly tried to get used to moving in heels. He found himself feeling relief that you had worn the bracelet too, but his heart was pounding too fast in his chest as he took you in. You were a picture of beauty, and he reached out his hand as you came closer, taking your softer hand in his before he half-bowed to plant a kiss onto the back of your hand. Breathing deeply as he smelled your perfume and feeling his body aching with want.

"You look gorgeous, bunny. I should perhaps let Sarah have you more often." The teasing tone in his voice evident for the second part as you giggled, blushing and feeling the heat rising in your cheeks as he kept ahold of your hand.

"I-I don't think I need anymore make-up or dresses. But you look really nice." You swallowed, trying to change the subject back onto him. Seeing his cheeks heat up despite the stubble across his face. A lopsided grin being given to you as he gently guided you into the booth, still holding your hand as you settled in, his thumb running over your knuckles adoringly.

Henry called your name and you glanced at him, seeing his eyes still watering as he looked between you and your held hand. "You look great. I hope this isn't too short notice or strange, but I wanted to take Sarah on a date and then it occurred to me, I should invite you guys along too!" Chuckling and sniffling as he tried to not be too emotional as William remained close to you. Sarah rolled her eyes slightly, but the smile on her face told you that she wasn't really annoyed, kissing Henry's cheek before she picked up a menu to glance over.

"Thank you for inviting me, I really appreciate it. And I hope that it's as fun for all of us." You smile, seeing Henry's lip quiver at your words. Nodding his head before he looked at the menu, trying to distract himself.

William brought your hand to his lips again, giving your hand a squeeze as you leaned in and gave his knuckles as kiss in return. Smelling his warm, spiced cologne as you got closer, making you feel dizzy as you turned your attention to the menu. Still holding onto him as you browsed the options.

It was going to be a long night, but you felt a little more confident to face it with William by your side.

My take on the Chuggaaconroy situation

A few days ago, LadyEmily, a creator who works as an writer for Sarah Z., spoke out about her negative experiences with Emile, known online as Chuggaaconroy.

I have been a fan of Emile’s content for almost as long as I’ve watched YouTube. Emile’s channel was the first I’ve ever subscribed to, back in 2008 when I was 6 years old. Today, following MasaeAnela’s account, I am unsubscribing from Chuggaaconroy- and I implore you to do the same.

When Lady Emily’s account first came out, I was mostly in disbelief. There was a very clear dissonance between the Emile in the messages shown, and the Emile I know from the videos. However, I didn’t deny that these allegations could very well be real.

I’ve watched this guy’s content for over a decade now, but I cannot claim to know him personally. His online persona being nice doesn’t mean his actual self is without fault. What I didn’t really buy in Emily’s statement was the accusations that this happened to more people than just her.

Mostly because she didn’t provide any proof of the sort, nor was any other account of this type of behavior from Emile, public as of yet. So when MasaeAnela, a persona who’s been associated with Emile for years now, claims the same things happened to her- that’s when I decided it was over.

Why did Masae decide to speak out now? It was simply because Chuggaaconroy has been a recognizable YouTube figure for years, and has amassed a very loyal following. Going against Emile is not a wise decision, not because his follower base is stupid or immature, like the fanbase of say, DreamWasTaken. It’s moreso that his fanbase spans a very wide range of people, and has been amassed for so long. People are attached to Chugga because he was a known figure for well over a decade of YouTube.

This is why #WeAreWithChuggaaconroy was trending at one point, and likely the reason why it took Masae and so many others such a long time to speak out, until now.

Masae opened the door, and now multiplie accounts of Chugga’s negative behavior are being released. I’ve been subscribed to Chugga for 15 years, but now I see how much fame changed the man. As someone who subscribed to Emile’s channel because of his positivity and passion towards a topic I was interested in, as someone who tried games merely based on his recommendations, and as someone who has Emile to thank for my current interests - I am unsubscribing from Chuggaaconroy, and I implore you to do the same.

Azreal and Emily. A... Thing.

As some of you know, Azreal and Emily are two main Characters in Hellspawntale Rebooted. But, who are they REALLY? Well, that's what this post is all about. Azreal and Emily.

SECTION ONE. Their Characters.

Azreal is a kindhearted child. They are a bit shy sometimes, but not around people they trust. They do have their breaking points though, specifically when someone they care for is in danger or when their horrible excuse for a sister comes around and tries to take them away again. (sarah fucking sucks.) They are canonically the LEAST determined human to fall into the Underground and only have Saving and Loading abilities due to Univer forcing them into Azreal. (with the power of plot i bestoweth upon thee time travel.)

Emily is The Patience Soul. She was awoken by Azreals fall. She was kind of just following them (Along with Frisk, Hellspawn, and eventually Frost.) Around until.. In Waterfall, after Azreal bought some Sea Tea, and then THIS Scene happened. (Recreated with the new sprites :P)

And with that, Emily got a crush on Azreal. However, she would not truly act on it until..

The CORE! After an encounter with an old foe, She encouraged Azreal about how they're a good person, And THAT's when Azzy started to like Emily back. Yes, yes, I know, throwing romance into a story isn't really exciting, but I found it fun.

The moment they for sure knew they liked eachother, however, was When Azreal saved Emily from Asriel (the goat one) during Twisted Timeline.

However, they did not become an official couple until the VERY end of the Christmas Arc of this Askblog, which takes place after the story of Hellspawntale Rebooted.

BOTH are mostly self aware, knowing they are part of just one of many universes. (Thanks to the In-Universe Character of Univer giving them a crash course on all things UTDR MV) They also know about the fact the Askers aren't from the same world as them. They both also have canonically played Undertale Yellow, as with the Help of Univer they can indeed download and play these games from our world.

They are, however, still just kids.

Section TWO. Azreal's LOOORRRREEEE.

Azreal is a descendant of a monster and human family. They can use Magic. They only recently learned how to, though. Magic they canonically learn to use (at some point) is:

Fireball power

Flight

Teleportation of objects and self

Plant magic

Healing spells

and Telepathy

They're kinda OP. Currently though they only have access to Fireballs.

Azreal also adopted the annoying dog and named him Toby (thanks to Univer suggesting the name HMM I WONDER WHERE THEY GOT THE IDEA)

Azreal also was friends with Frisk BEFORE their fall.

SECTION THREE. Emily: Where was she in Hellspawntale prebooted?!?

First off: We don't talk about Prebooted.

Second: Uhhh, Dead? Yeah, this section is basically to explain why Emily was added in as a main Character for prebooted.

I wanted to have someone other than chara ALSO travel with Azreal and Frisk as a ghost, HOWEVER, I ALSO kinda wanted a Love Interest for Azzy.

Emily didn't even reveal her name until New Home, by the way. Although it always was going to be "Emily." I just liked the name.

SECTION FOUR: Appearances in my other AUs?

As you may or may not know, In Univer's Underswap, Azreal and Emily appear as Robots built by undyne for Two ghost monsters (That are NOT related) to use as vessels. She based them off of (insert ambiguious anime couple she saw).

In Undertale Anomalous, However...

Emily takes the Role of Papyrus, and Azreal takes the role of Sans. Don't let that fool you, though! These two are NOT siblings, nor do they see eachother as Siblings. Instead, they are the corpses of 2 fallen humans, that, with the little DT they still had after the experiments, fled their coffins, and surprisingly made it all the way to Maple Midtown. There, they learned how to survive so well they basically started to function like they were monsters. For books that remind me of ‘One Day’ (and therefore encapsulate the vibe I was going for in this fic). Heavy on themes of intimate relationships between two people, nostalgia, time and growing up.

‘This Time Tomorrow’ by Emma Straub: gorgeous insight into getting older and a push for change, explores the relationship between a father and daughter beautifully

‘Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow’ by Gabrielle Zevin: masterful characters and structure. Two friends work as video game designers. The publisher’s tagline is brilliant: ‘It’s not a romance, but it is about love.’

‘Amy & Isabelle’ by Elizabeth Strout: one of those books I know I’ll appreciate even more when I get older. Mother and daughter relationship: if you resonated by Greta Gerwig’s ‘Ladybird’, you’ll love this one.

‘The Time Traveller’s Wife’ by Audrey Niffenegger: It’s famous for a reason. The most original love story I’ve ever read and with such genius and tender plotting that demands rereading.

‘Normal People’ by Sally Rooney: melancholic and bittersweet (aka it was the ‘One Day’ that I didn’t like quite as much as ‘One Day’ but also guys it’s a good book c’mon let’s be fr here)

Romances I’ve enjoyed (these are probably very popular but there are so many shite ones that I’ll vouch for these):

Ali Hazelwood books. I am so adamant that this woman is an absolute legend and her books only get better. Loved her most recent (‘Love, Theoretically’), it’s too fun.

‘Love and Other Words’ by Christina Lauren: ICONIC friends-to-lovers

For STEM-y books I enjoyed, I liked:

‘Lessons in Chemistry’ by Bonnie Garmus: the main character is absolutely brilliant and I’m the world’s most devout feminist so of course I devoured this book. (Although constantly calling table salt NaCl did annoy me juuust a little. Yes salt is primarily composed of sodium chloride but it’s not purified so calling it NaCl is just a bit silly)

‘The Code Breaker’ by Walter Isaacson: non-fiction (gasp!) but I find CRISPR so interesting. Biography about Jennifer Doudna, the Nobel Prize winner who essentially transformed the world of genetic engineering.

Miscellaneous books I’ve enjoyed:

‘Tender is the Flesh’ by Agustina Bazterrica: chilling dystopia, excellent narration from perspective character, so disgusting and gory

‘Fingersmith’ by Sarah Waters: not usually a fan of historical fiction but Sarah Waters is the loml, brilliant plotting, crime fiction

‘Vladimir’ by Julia May Jones: devoured it in a day. Dark and sensual, with such a sharply-characterised perspective character.

‘The Charioteer’ by Mary Renault: one of the first books to write an unapologetically positive portrayal of homosexuality. Essential reading for any lgbt+ person who likes reading, imo: stands on the same level as ‘Giovanni’s Room’ or… literally any Sarah Waters novel. I read it for background research on a far-off WW2 fic I want to write but ended up loving it. Really sweet.

The Interconnected Family Tree of Anubis

I was trying to keep my family tree headcanons on straight for fic purposes, so I devised my own family tree for all the complicated pre-canon HOA connections. Almost everything on here is headcanon, so take it with a grain of salt, but if you like it, feel free to use this!

First up we have the Frobisher-Smythe & Rush families! I added some lore surrounding RFS’ family, which is as follows (TRIGGER WARNING FOR MENTIONS OF SELF UNALIVING)

Eleanor Frobisher-Smythe (1841-1881) was a Paragon, but could not handle the burden, nor could she deal with the constant badgering from spirits and gods in her head. After the birth of her second son, Robert, she suffered with postpartum depression. She killed herself via morphine overdose a year after his birth.

Julian Frobisher-Smythe (1841-1908) was Eleanor's Osirian. He built the Anubis Estate (though it wasn’t called that yet) based on a vision he had that essentially insisted that it would be a crossroads of destiny. He could not save his wife and Chosen One from herself, and blamed himself for her death up until the day he died of TB in 1908

Robert Frobisher-Smythe (1880-) was a brilliant (and mental) man who was superbly skilled in chemistry/alchemy, riddles, metalworking, carpentry, masonry, archaeology, and history in general. He, after several successful trips to Egypt, suffered the from the curse placed upon all who disturbed the tomb on Howard Carter’s expedition in 1922, along with taking the fall for his friends on the expedition who dared to disturb the Staff of Osiris. He was cursed to sleep by Ammut for their folly, and pronounced dead to avoid suspicion, with only those he trusted for the ceremony aware of the truth.

Edward Frobisher-Smythe (1878-1918) was Robert’s older brother. He was not nearly as brilliant (or mental), but he was strong and good-hearted. He, like many brave men, fought in WWI and died in the Second Battle of the Somme in 1918.

(Louisa also had ancestors who were Chosen Ones, and while that does technically mean she and Robert are related, it’s incredibly distant since Amneris’ descendants are spread all over the globe.)

Sarah Frobisher-Smythe (1915-2010) was the Paragon, and her life was incredibly tragic and tumultuous, marked by being her family’s secret keeper for secrets she didn’t really know. She went into hiding in the 70s/80s after discovering the Society’s existence and what their ultimate goals were, and assumed the identity Emily Grant. She is buried with that name.

Rebecca Rush (1881-1950) was a brilliant woman, one of the first WOC to be educated in England, which is where she met both Robert and Louisa. She and Robert fell in love, got married, and a year after the birth of their son, Charles, in 1913, they got a divorce and she moved both herself and her son to America to set up with family there.

Charles Rush (1913-2012) grew up in America with very little contact with his father before he was put to sleep, but he knew his role well. He married a woman, Eloise, and had two children, Robert “Bobby” Rush and Nora Rush. Bobby suffered from severe depression and anxiety, but he was a good man. He married Josie Rush, and they had a daughter, Kara-Tatiana “KT” Rush. Josie died of melanoma in 2005, and Bobby lost his battle with depression that same year*. Nora moved back to England, and resides in London as a bit of a recluse museum curator.

KT Rush (1995-) is the great-granddaughter of Robert Frobisher-Smythe. She came to school at her grandfather’s behest to do what Charles had become too old to do. She was a member of Sibuna.

*Note that KT is raised by her aunt on her mother’s side, Becca Talbott

Now we move to Louisa’s side of the family, which you might recognize as the Denby family. Yes, I’ve decided to connect Louisa with the Denby family as a way of incorporating that family more closely with the Frobisher’s. Hang on tight cuz it’s about to get complicated.

Cartwright & Elizabeth Denby gave birth to three children: Isabel, Thomas, and Louisa. They were strong willed people who were not afraid to push their children toward greatness.

Louisa Denby became Louisa Frobisher-Smythe (1883-1922) in 1913, after Robert and Rebecca divorce. Louisa is a brilliant mind, a woman who, like her husband, could make just about anything. As kind as she was, she was also greedy and complicit (often more than complicit) in her expedition party’s exploits. She gave birth to Sarah Frobisher-Smythe in 1915, and after several successful trips to Egypt, suffered the curse placed upon all who disturbed the tomb on Howard Carter’s expedition in 1922. She died in a horrific car accident the end of that same year.

Thomas Denby was a strong, no-nonsense man; he married an equally no-nonsense woman named Victoria. He was entrusted by his brother-in-law Robert to act as his Keeper, a roll he passed down to his only son Thomas Denby Jr, who then passed it down to his oldest and biological daughter, Harriet.

Harriet Denby (1977-) is a pragmatic woman, who made her living as a teacher, while also doing her best to live up to her family’s legacy as a Keeper. At least until she’s drugged and stuck in a mental facility by her adopted younger sister Caroline, who then assumes her identity and role.

Caroline Denby (1979-2012) was a deeply troubled young woman who was adopted by her neighbors, the Denby family, after her mother hanged herself. She had delusions of grandeur and didn’t care who she had to hurt, even if that meant her beloved older sister, to achieve that greatness. She was murdered and devoured by the goddess Ammut.

Isabel Denby became Isabel Zeno when she married Gustav Zeno, a French historian. She was a frivolous woman, and she had a bubbly, playful personality that was hard to dislike. She happily raised Sarah alongside her son Rufus after her sister died.

Gustav Zeno was a French historian from Paris, who married Isabel and had a son Rufus. He worked closely with Robert and Victor Rodenmaar Sr on the Elixir of Life recipe.

Rufus Zeno (1915-2011) was a bright, rambunctious, and strong young man, divinely tasked with being the Osirian to Sarah Frobisher-Smythe. He had ambitions far beyond being a mere protector, however, and the more Elixir he took, his resentment toward his cousin/adopted sister grew. He, Sarah, and Victor Jr founded the Amun Academic Boarding School in 1960, and soon after, he and Victor founded the Society, along with several others. In 1936, he had a daughter, Evelyn, who he and the woman he’d been seeing with decided to put up for adoption. Later in life, as he still appeared young, he had another child with Maggie Sweet, named Eric. He betrayed Sarah and the Society and eventually came to ruin when his hubris got him possessed by the Forgotten Ruler, Senkhara and sent to a fiery end.

Evelyn Meridian Martin (1936-) was put up for adoption almost immediately after her birth, and was taken in by a kindly American couple. She lived a happy life, unburdened by her origins, and eventually married a kindly man named William Martin, and had a son Peter Martin, who married a Spanish woman Marie. She raised her granddaughter after Peter and Marie died in a car wreck in 1999.

Nina Martin (1995-) is potentially the last Paragon to walk the earth, since she has fulfilled her purpose of restoring the Cup of Ankh. She is the former leader of Sibuna, and now lives her life back home in America.

Eric Sweet is the headmaster of Amun Academic Boarding School and a former member of the Society, as well as the Seeker. He attended school and lived at Anubis House in his teen years, but did not know that Rufus was his father until much later in life. He moved to America for a time after he met an American woman Catherine “Cathy” Miller, and had a son. When he discovered his son, Eddie, was the Osirian, he knew that if Victor or Rufus were to discover that, he would be exploited. So he divorced Cathy and returned to England.

Eddie Miller (1994-) is a rambunctious and loyal young man who also acted as the Osirian, until he sacrificed his powers to appease Ra’s wrath. After Nina stepped down, he acted as the leader of Sibuna.

Quinton Mysteries: The Flowergothic Conspiracy

I was planning on adding this as an addendum to the previous masterpost on Flowergothic but since this is pure speculation I decided against it.

So this is going to be the sicko mode segment of this blog. If it has Lucille font, it's stuff we have substantial proof on. If it has Chat font, we are speculating. To make it abundantly more obvious we are calling this segment Quinton Mysteries.

As I already mentioned, Flowergothic has been airing her laundry for over a year through TikTok, Twitter and YouTube. She released a video earlier this year that also served to take an iCarly idea away from Quinton, iCarly recipes, making very odd she felt like making another video. The vibe between the two is also noteworthy because whereas the first video is largely comical, the second feels like an official account of events.

What sets apart the "My experience with Quinton Reviews" even more is that for some reason it had Dan Olson and Lady Emily vagueposting about it. Neither associate with Flowergothic and till this point Julia's biggest online contribution was a video on KF. By the point the narrative turned in Quinton's favour, both Olson and Emily backtracked.

So why were they involved in all of this?

A theory suggests we need to look back to the DM saga, since Olson and Emily are very close to Lindsay and Sarah respectively and this was meant as the finishing blow. Quinton managed to escape further scrutiny because he was never outed explicitly. Of course this theory implies that either party contacted the other with that agenda in mind.

At the end of the day the theory requires we interpret either party as petty enough to try to weaponize this very unfortunate editing gig. People already believed Flowergothic to go that distance, so let's focus on the other components of this theory.

Dan Olson once got in trouble with law enforcement in a squabble against 8chan and kept the truth of the Channel Awesome trouser trekker to himself because he refused to hand GG a W. Lady Emily's videos on Channel Awesome seem like she personally worked there for how mean spirited they are, she also vagueposted about this the most. Yet, there's nothing proving they were personally involved nor that they just so happened to stumble upon the video and tried to boost it.

This isn't even taking into account that Sarah was in the sidelines.

While Flowergothic doing all of this on her own isn't impossible, it's unlikely she wasn't convinced by someone. She mentioned her friends told her to come forward, but the thing is she technically already did.

for you, something with a supernatural element (by that I mean the adjective, not the television show)

so since I read Discovery of Witches I've been like...."getting a lot of Dair vibes from this" which is how I consume lots of media these days but that's neither here nor there the thing is, I could see the shape of an au.

Dan Humphrey would be the heroine, Diana Bishop, a History of Science Professor who is just trying to finish a presentation for an upcoming conference, but whoops he's also actually the most specialest witch in the world.

Blair would be Matthew, the centuries old vampire who's gone to Oxford a dozen times and has the doctorates to prove it. She falls ass over head in love with this witch and everybody is just gonna have to DEAL.

I mean, the novel and the following novels dig into the nitty gritty of time travel and evolutionary biology so I don't think you could take the Gossip Girl AU that far....but the character dynamic between the two mains, the doffed way they look out for each other and the slow burn of their feeling and their protectiveness over the other's wellbeing and loving each other even with all their baggage....yeah...

like, there's a scene towards the middle of the book where the witch hosts the vampire for dinner, and they flirt over mythology and discussions of their academic specialties and that is SO dair-coded.

and there's this sequence in the latter half of the book where the creatures-enforcement-squad kidnaps the witch and tortures her because, you know, inter-supernatural species love is verboten because of course it is, and it serves all that delicious, character A's beloved is in danger and they lose their mind plus the hurt/comfort that follows....ahhhhhhh it would be so awesome.

and there's this thing in our dair circle where we talk about dan falling more under the traditional heroine archetype and blair being the prince charming archetype in their relationship, so plugging the spin they already have on a conventional romantic story with all the stuff going on between Diana and Matthew in Discovery of Witches would rock.

other character parallels I've considered for this AU: Lousia = Serena, Blair's vampire sister who dies mysteriously in the 17th century Ysabeau = Lily, Blair's glamorous, blonde and very well-put together vampire mom Blanca = Louis, Blair's first husband, who died before she turned. Marcus = Henry, Blair's vampire son Emily & Sarah = Jenny, Dan's lesbian witch sister Michele = Georgina, vampire and Blair's nemesis Miriam = Vanessa, vampire and Blair's colleague and longtime friend and sufferer of her nonsense Hamish = Nate, a daemon and Blair's gay best friend who is richer than god Baldwin = Carter, Blair's vamp brother who is Trouble but comes through in a crisis

Hocus Pocus 2 and Nope.

Nope was fantastic.

Of course, Jordan Peele’s film understands how to reference or make eerie a real example or homage something. From the western horse chases blending so well with the monster hunt, from the Akira bike slide being so cool but just a blink and you miss ref, from the Gordy and Mary Jo as the woman without a face in comparison to the real story...I love a movie that knows when and what it wants to tell you and the themes and emotions it’s driving at you. 

I loved the characters too. The brother and sister. The tech guy. The film guy. 

Jupe is not a good person, he’s as close to a villain as the TMZ guy, regardless of the backstory. But he’s fascinating to see how spectacle and his pursuit, his chase and disrespect of others, of nature and pun intended, sense or horse sense, is his killer. His undoing. Trying to force connection, be it animal or people, through artifice. A childish way for a man scarred emotionally and stuck in child fame and fear.

I loved it. The creature creepy as hell.

OJ was brilliant. His scene in the truck. His love of his Dad and sis. His quiet and frustrated straight man persona.

The beauty in some scenes.  I want to talk about this movie. To gush.

....

In contrast we have Hocus Pocus 2. Straight up nostalgia bait, cash grab, bank on nothing new in idea or execution, nothing special in the way it creates or attempts to reference or homage the original or others. But people, myself included, are flocking to it because we just wanted to see if it could for a moment bring back the feeling or carry it forward for us that OG did. No.

It’s what is most insulting to me about the film. It’s one thing to make the same basic plot points twice, to try to mimic the 93 gags while missing why it was camp or risky or off cuff then, in the way Walgreens or roombas are product placement and not, in the way it’s not as funny to hear Sarah says amok amok amok again when it is not a spontaneous fool’s glee but callback, to have them sing is not an inventive nod to Bette and fun song when it’s so forced in thrice.

Or turn it into a generic tale, to both dumb down and de-evil the Sanderson sisters, Winnie in particular. To have characters that were obsessed with sucking the life out of children for eternal life and beauty grow old without care or die without care is failing the OG theme but can perhaps be done...if it was subverted wisely. This was not. 

Winnie in OG neither loved nor cared for her sisters. That was the big contrast to the pair of Dani/Max and Emily/Thackery. 

So they return, so maybe they or her should learn to love thy sister but the movie never builds this. Or contrasts them against the three young girls as other sisters/friends/witch enthusiasts.

Disney is so obsessed with the pat and perfect boss of a woman trope, look at the perfect cool woods witch WTH, that they no longer let them have a character or arc. None get growth because the must already be right and perfect, even as the story warps around the unreality. So Winnie was right to be against the village, being forcefully separated from her sisters and to be married off. Right to want power. Let us ignore her moral usage of. Or make the Billy affair a lie. Let’s strip her of character because we can’t like an evil woman, only the boss one.

Of the younger characters, the girl’s conflict with each other is left unanswered. They just needed to work together. Ignore the question and growth that they need by being independent individuals, of asking what they actually want to do together and why, or why they were rushing to conflict and separate, or even the who they are. You know, basics of character. Glasses girl friend was as generic as leader girl as was party friend. The only young person, stupid as they were, to arc was the himbo, who sat and went from I tease, to the explained I tease out of affection, to you don’t like that and I’m sorry. 

Also the mood was a ruin. Not spooky or pretty Fall or fun Halloween. Generic.

Well, I wasn’t expecting good so I wipe it from my brain. Go back to the 90s one.

Which is my last thought. The difference in the 90s, being as vapid and consumer and full of playing on it’s era... there is a reason that remakes and the nostalgia trips of today are failing. You can’t recreate that time. You reference it by trying too hard to mimic and you look foolish because both the generation of today is far too different, far too removed to understand so it doesn’t bring them real emotion, it doesn’t connect to their experience, hell if I can even think what is today’s kids and tweens culture and their feels and fears and hopes that isn’t trapped and trying to be consumer branded by my aging failed generation... but also trying to cater to my generation, trying to bribe me with the past, to recapture my love and emotion, it only really works if you can take it and and tell me why it still matters. Otherwise all you are reminding me of is it was hollow or it and I changed. You turn me from it, or you look a poor attempt mimic without saying anything.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is iconic? All her characters are so perfectly played that it took me a while to realise that she was in so many films because she BECOMES those characters.

I think Emily Blunt is chill, I don't have any qualms with her - she's a good actress. I just don't have a lot of ... feelings? Thoughts? About her. Glad that she's thriving. She's not problematic in the slightest, cool husband too

Cillian Murphy is a brilliant actor, who deserves the hype. A lot of people say that Thomas Shelby is attractive but Cillian isn't... which is untrue, a lie, complete and utter slander... Also 28 days later????? BRILLIANT. UTTERLY BRILLIANT.

Idris Elba actually is badass and not just because of the characters he plays. He deserves more love - and if there's been any problematic behaviour I do not recall it. He's like the british version of The Rock to me

No because why are your top films literally top-tier. They're such rich films. AND 2003 LIVE ACTION PETER PAN IS THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE. Okay so that film actually got me into writing fanfiction (and no, no one will ever see it.)

Familiars

A Familiar is a Goblin placed in the services of a Witch as an aid in their magical practices by whomever it is they worship. Whether it be Satan, any of the old Gods, or in the case of Emily and her family as well as Royce’s mother, the triple Goddess Hecate. They can take on the appearance of an animal, usually meant to represent the soul and personality of the Witch they are bound to, but they can shapeshift if the need arises. It can be noted that insect Familiars can duplicate. According to Marie, who unlike the Family she serves, worships Baron Samedi, the Familiar chooses their master, not the other way around. The appearance of a Familiar is dependent upon the deity they worship. For those born to Worshipers of Hecate, she gifts each new Witch with their Familiars in the days following their birth. As was the case with Emily’s Purple Monarch Butterfly, Pann and Emilia’s Golden Knee Tarantula, Enzo. As servants, they are also an inexhaustible source of blood as they resurrect after each death. According to Marie, Witches often name their Familiars, but some Familiars name themselves. Familiars protect their Witches from from harm and will often act in their defense without being ordered to do so. Familiars are bound to their Witches, so when their Master dies, they die with them from the agony of losing their masters. It has been noted in every Witch book that a Familiar is neither good nor evil, but a product of their Witches nature. 

Physiology 

In their original forms, Goblins are long, black, clawed humanoid entities capable of human speech before shifting into animal or insect form. While they are physically constrained by their animal form, they can instantly shift back to their original black forms which possess immense strength and power. This is often to protect their Witch from harm or attack. 

* Witches who serve the devil are given demon familiars as opposed to goblins

*It can also be noted that Familiars are often the opposite gender of their master.

Pann

Emily’s Familiar who can multiply to fulfill whatever spell Emily wishes. Pann has a strong bond with Emily and is almost never away from his Witch. Not since he appeared and took shape at her side. He takes the form of a Purple Monarch Butterfly. 

Enzo

Emilia’s Familiar who took the form of a Golden Knee Tarantula which definitely fits Emilia’s aggressive personality. Enzo is constantly tucked into Emilia’s bag or perched on her shoulder. 

Asher

Cassandra’s Familiar who took the form of a beautiful Raven. While he often aided his Master in spells, he also was utilized as a Spy, keeping an eye on the town as well as his Master’s Daughters

Caleb

Sarah Clayton’s Familiar who takes the form of a White Rat.

Caleb was best at hiding. He was so small that keeping an eye on Royce was easy. And he did so frequently.

Lucian

Marie Etienne’s Familiar who takes the form of a common toad.

It is told that the Baron would speak to Marie through her familiar and that the creature could see all worlds, including the ones in between.

Cecelia

Royce’s Familiar who takes the form of a Weasel. While Royce did not actively practice magic before he and Emily began dating, he was still gifted a Familiar by the triple Goddess. Weasel’s are quiet creatures but can also be aggressive when need be. 

Cecilia held a maternal affection for her charge and was scarcely far from his side.

Hatter

Elizabeth Clayton’s Familiar who takes the form of a Rabbit.

It is likely he named himself this due to Elizabeth liking "Alices Adventures in Wonderland". It was her favorite book, and she enjoyed having it read to her.

Since Hatter is a familiar, he has an extensive memory and he would recite the book for her every night.

Hatter could also be overprotective as seen when he morphed into his goblin form and attacked Enzo whom had been crawling along Elizabeth's arm, poised to strike.

Recent Reads ☺

Books for me recently have meant more than they ever have. I’m not sure if it’s loosing yourself in a world made of paper, or laughing at character that you would give anything to meet in person. But over this past year I guess I’ve just realized that I truly have a love for words on paper. It is inconsequentially my favorite source of happiness. 

Finished: 

1) Assassins Blade and Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas!

As always, Sarah never disappoints. I am currently rereading the TOG series, simply because after Crescent City, not only do i need a refresher, but I want to look for ties between the three series. And I’m SO glad I read these two because I have forgotten most of what happens in them. It’s been so fun to tab pages and see foreshadowing and I can’t wait to read the rest!! But I am very sad because I didn’t bring the rest of the series with me. SO i have to wait until next week when I’m home to finish! 

2) Book Lovers by Emily Henry 

UMM. This is my new favorite romance novel. Its like The Love Hypothesis and The Kiss Quotient had a baby. And as a reader, reading a book about characters who love to read... it was superb. I’ve never laughed so much at characters dialogue nor have a totally fallen for a freaking book so fast. I literally finished this in a day, and that is bad. Because I have finals to study for and can’t get my nose out a book. Just don’t tell my mom ok? This book is a MILLION/10. Please read.
