I'm obsessed with the idea of Vox losing Alastor in like a club and being like, "Oh, no, he was drinking. I gotta find him, FAST."
And whoever is with him/overhears is like "Why are you with him if you know he'll cheat on you the second you turn away?"
Only for Vox to be like, "What?! No! It's worse! He'll take over the music, and he'll make everyone do the Charleston, and I gotta stop him before he gets us kicked out of and banned from yet ANOTHER club! I don't even know how they can DO that, we fucking own them..." as he walks away muttering, searching desperately for his drunk ass deer before it's too late.

big ups to the ~1 million brown people actually willing to use the change in dem candidates to try to secure a marginally more humane policy towards gaza from someone who has signaled she might be movable. hard minority to be in when we have the people who forgot everything they hated about biden as soon as the messenger was Cool and Meme-worthy and then we have the people who are like "me not getting my hands dirty by participating in electoral politics is more important than marginally improving people's lives"

Hrmmm…
…The ball’s happening, it’s finally here. Sigh. I’m just so glad it worked…once I announced this thing the ask box toned down a bit, thank God…
Welllll…I’ve got time, no? I’ve already got my good suit on, and not TOO many people have arrived yet. I could just make a quick pit stop to my office then head right on out to the ballroom.
Fashionably late, of course~!!

in the emtts universe, do you think eddie and/or steve would watch movies in other languages with robin? like, my friend and i - she's french and i'm indian so she watches bollywood romances with me and i watch french romances with her every sunday :-)
First, that’s an adorable thing to do with your friend and I think it’s very sweet that you and your friend take a vested interest in each other’s culture.
I can see Steve and Eddie both watching films in foreign languages with Robin separately.
Like, Steve ends up watching a lot of foreign films with Robin by proxy.
Robin insists that the only want to keep a language is to be immersed in the culture and since there’s not a lot of culture in Hawkins that isn’t painfully Americana, she rents out the abysmally small foreign film section from Family Video constantly. Since Steve is with her a lot, he is also immersed in these cultures.
He complains but he also secretly loves it.
He loves how into the movies Robin gets. He loves how passionately she explains it to him. He loves trying to figure out the plots and how she lights up when he gets it right, but he loves it even more when he gets it wrong.
Robin likes a lot of arthouse films that don’t have linear timelines or that are meandering to the point of confusion so sometimes Steve misses the mark completely, but it’s okay. They’ve spent hours after a movie, telling two different stories about what they just watched and Robin never seems upset that Steve just didn’t get it.
Eddie ends up watching films in foreign languages with Robin out of necessity.
In like a ‘my world famous band is about to tour Europe and I just realized that I only speak English but you keep correcting how I do that so maybe I don’t keep English too good either’ kind of necessity to which Robin responded, “Jesus Christ.”
Eddie got a passport and then realized that Gareth took three years of French, Grant spoke fluent German with his grandmother all the time, and Jeff was passable with Spanish, and Eddie. Gee, Eddie was going to look like the biggest idiot on the planet – “Or, you’ll just look like an American.”
“That’s even worse!” Eddie despaired, draping himself across the counter of Family Video. “Help me, Robin-wan, you’re my only hope.”
Help to Robin was an English to Spanish dictionary and a bunch of study material, but help to Eddie was the Italian Giallo he picked up in Indianapolis last week because that was more fun. She sent Eddie off to Europe with an English to Spanish dictionary and a ‘good luck.’
It did not help.

It's weird to describe any Tolkien thoughts as "coming out of nowhere" given who I am as a person, but I woke up thinking about Ghân-buri-ghân.
I wish the depiction of him were not deeply entrenched in noble savage tropes, because there's something kind of amazing in this idea of a people who have barely survived through the ages yet still persist; who saw the earliest warning signs and ditched Númenor before most people had the slightest idea of what was going to happen; who have gotten profoundly screwed over by basically everyone except (iirc) the Haladin; who have had their own powers since the First Age; who have always been implacable opponents of Morgoth's and Sauron's forces, even as these days they're hunted for sport by the Rohirrim; and at the same time who are facing down the threat of total obliteration by Sauron. And Ghân-buri-ghân manages to navigate all of this and get his people security and autonomy.
So like ... there's a seed of a really intriguing concept there, but I'm not sure Middle-earth has ever been in the right hands to actually do it right.

For as rough as his brother's hands can be, they're gentle with him. Even when Ace couldn't return the kindness, Luffy endured him; holding fast to clenched fists and knuckles that were split and swollen. Persistent, stubborn even after Luffy pried his hand into Ace's and grit his teeth through the ache of Ace's bruising grips. Whining because he was a crybaby and it hurt, but never pulling away. Only squeezing just as tight in playful retaliation. Smile wide as he coaxed Ace's fingers out of their vice grip to clasp their hands together - warm and soft in a way that made Ace flinch. Because while there was dirt beneath Luffy's nails, there was blood beneath his.
And in spite of that—in spite of everything—Luffy never let go of him. Whether or not Ace feels worth that love and tender devotion, Luffy holds on to him: hands clasped together as Luffy beckons him on new adventures, a reassuring squeeze whenever Ace wavers, a bruising grip when Luffy is overcome; nails cutting into Ace's skin until Ace soothes him. Lips ghosting over knuckles - swollen and split).
Rough, but gentle with Ace. Always.

youd think he'd maybe consider not telling these two people specifically but alas he's not very smart in the dealings of his own emotions
this stuff was all chronologically from around Miracle in District 21 so its probably even funnier!
