So i'm working on a lot of fics at the moment, the oneshots will continue as I always have with loose hope that i'll finish them before I lose interest in them but I have several multi chapter/longform fics I wish to work on. There is a poll at the bottom of this post and I just want to get a guide idea for what people would want first, below are the four longer fics I'm trying to finish and get out and a little description about them.
Martha/Rose Season 3 onwards rewrite - A Martha/Rose multichapter rewrite of season 3 featuring less leading on of Martha, a role swap between Rose and the Doctor, and an actual relationship. Would probably contain immortal/bad wolf Rose.
Rose and Ten in the MCU - A doctorrose long oneshot (It was meant to be maybe 5k and I haven't even gotten to my main points for writing it yet and it's over double that). They've crashed into the MCU and they can't get the Tardis to start back up again, she won't even do a short jump within the universe, so they're stuck on Earth and have to settle down. Rose becomes an English teacher at Peter's school. Later into the year there's a fieldtrip to stark industries, and the Doctor and Rose get the help of Peter and Tony to get back home. (I actually have a sequel planned too, a human nature/family of blood rewrite where the Doctor crashes them into that universe to hide out)
Married Life - a season 2 onwards multichapter rewrite starting at the werewolf episode going forward Each chapter alternates between an episode rewrite and an original, hopefully more relaxed, adventure.
It's not really a secret - originally intended as a multichapter Merlin fic, inspired by a prompt from @onceandfuturelesbian in which Uther finds out about Merlin's magic and tries to kill him for it. The first chapter came out over a year ago and I've been really struggling with it. Now it is intended to be finished as a longer oneshot with Merthur happening around halfway through.
Rose Tyler's guide to becoming a superhero - Immortal Rose Tyler is trying to get back to her birth universe after her family are all gone (she's in her 300s she wanted to hang around and explore that universe) but her one attempt on the canon lands her not in her original universe but one full of heros and villains. Her brother Tony had liked comics, though she never had, and through him and her hazy memory of his rambles about his comics, she has a pretty rough idea of what's going on. She starts out as a teacher, but one of her students is Peter Parker and that name rings a bell from Tony's ramblings. It takes a little while, but she realises he's Spider-Man and sets on to help him however she can. Good thing Bad Wolf left behind a couple things more than just immortality.

ty for the tag @miiracleboys !!
slow burn or love at first sight // fake dating or secret dating // enemies to lovers or best friends to lovers // oh no there’s only one bed or long-distance correspondence // hurt-comfort or amnesia // fantasy au or modern au // mutual pining or domestic bliss // smut or fluff // canon-compliant or fix-it // reincarnation or character death // one-shot or multi-chapter // kid fic or road trip fic // arranged marriage or accidental marriage // high school romance or middle aged romance // time travel or isolated together // neighbors or roommates  // sci-fi au or and magic au // body swap or gender bend // angst or crack // apocalyptic or mundane
i'm also gonna go way in depth bc i'm just like this. longform answers below the cut :P
slow burn or love at first sight: i just like the pining of it all ngl. i think that love at first sight is too unbelievable for me, like no matter how much i ship a pairing, love at first sight just isn't convincing to me
fake dating or secret dating: idk fake dating kinda just stresses me out for some reason? lying scares me and i'm a coward. it can definitely be done well, but secret dating just hits the sweet spot a little better
enemies to lovers or best friends to lovers: LOVE a good friends to lovers arc. this is something everyone knows about me. something about the blurriness of platonic to romantic lines is just *chef's kiss*
oh no there’s only one bed or long-distance correspondence: tbh i just love a good love letter
hurt-comfort or amnesia: i'm so soft for some good hurt/comfort. there's just something so intimate about trusting a person enough to hurt in front of them and something so gentle about knowing how (or not knowing!) to comfort a person
fantasy au or modern au: idk i just don't vibe with fantasy aus? i'm not a huge fantasy person in general tbh
mutual pining or domestic bliss: oooohhhohhhh it's always the pining for me. there's just something so sweet about that burn. domestic bliss is nice, don't get me wrong, and it's what i need some days, but, oh i just love some painful yearning
smut or fluff: idk fluff just hits, man
canon-compliant or fix-it: i rarely read fix it fics tbh. it's so much more fun to me to fuck around with canon and push the lines of canon than it is to change it completely. i don't really like AUs in general either, so maybe this is kinda like that?
reincarnation or character death: tbh both of these are really hard to get right, so i have trouble reading fics with either of them, but i would have to say character death is better
one-shot or multi-chapter: i have said this before and i will say it again. unless i'm hyperfixating real bad and desperate or the first 5k are the best words i have ever read, i do not have the attention span for anything over 30k.
kid fic or road trip fic: tbh i don't really read much of either of these, but kid fics generally just aren't appealing as a concept. sharing a car for extended periods of time, seeing the sights, breaking down on the highway, etc. etc. etc. on the other hand? that's good shit
arranged marriage or accidental marriage: to be, like, completely transparent, i don't think i've ever read either of these? but in theory accidental marriage is better
high school romance or middle aged romance: ok maybe this is a hot take but i think high school romance is often fun because it's either (a) soulmates fr and (b) doomed by virtue of being teenagers. there's something really bittersweet about the idea of being high school sweethearts and either beating the odds or having a timer counting down to graduation. what's REALLY good shit is dating in high school, breaking up, and then getting back together as adults
time travel or isolated together: time travel plots annoy me
neighbors or roommates: shoutout to all of my roommates for ruining that trope for me (/pos)
sci-fi au or and magic au: again, i much prefer canon compliant to any kind of aus, but if i had to choose, then i'd go sci-fi
body swap or gender bend: i don't read much of either but i'm gonna say body swap bc gender bend just feels ehhh to me. like. just make them trans
angst or crack: crack treated seriously can be fun occasionally, but tbh crack in general is just not my thing. i like it to hurt
apocalyptic or mundane: short and sweet slice of life is where it's at

Man, I still feel this itch to write a longer OFMD fic that incorporates all the little scattered types of scenes I find intriguing (mostly Ed's internal life, as well as Stede's) and that incorporates some of my "brand" fanfic plots, but as much as I'l get little flashes of moments I want to illustrate or dialogue to write out, it's just not coalescing into any sort of grand vision.
On the one hand, I'm reminding myself that I was in, say, the Hobbit fandom for quite some time before I wrote anything over 5k words, so it's more a matter of buildup and finding the right subject matter. I sense that whatever it is it would be on the other side of the typical "reunion" fic since those are being done all over the place (by myself included! And by some massively talented people!) more because I think there's genuinely only so many ways the reunion between Ed and Stede can go down (on a sliding scale between acrimonious and immediate). If anything, I'd be more tempted to go the route of canon divergence before 1.9 OR post- some version of their reunion just to get back to a status quo that's a bit more malleable for a standalone story.
The other possibility is that this just remains a short-ish one-shot fandom for me! Given the comedy and quippiness of the text, it doesn't necessarily lend itself to novel-length the way Tolkien-based fandoms or historically accurate-ish fic (like Old Guard) does. Which would honestly be a relief in some ways to just dash out some popcorn short fic like I've been doing up to this point. Who knows!
Anyway, mostly a post just to say the desire is there but I'm weirdly blocked on any kind of longform plot ideas fo OFMD at present *shrug*

2 and 15 for Where one fell + 6 and 11 for Everything but a door
For Where One Fell:
2) What scene did you first put down?
the original opening scene of where one fell was actually initially going to be the first scene of chapter two. the one where anillis and hec-tor get into a fight over hec-tor giving names to his minders. i had the entire first chapter written before i realized that there was kind of too much information being given at once by doing it that way, so i wrote chapter one (i.e., establishing anillis loves hec-tor but will switch on a dime towards basically anybody else, the origin of the clones, etc) to compensate for that so that the second chapter wasn’t as info dumpy about it.
also i just like writing anillis and hec-tor being cute.
15) What did you learn from writing this fic?
that my taste in men continues to be Horrible
I Am Not Concise. i think i lost the ability to be concise back in like 2018 and now all of my fics need to be at least 5k even if it’s supposed to be a relatively simple au. cause where one fell wasn’t supposed to spawn this whole au. it started as a four-chapter character study (of prime specifically) and then it kind of got out of hand.
For Everything But A Door:
6) What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?
uhhhhhhhh... oh! that i wrote it in its entirety before i started posting any of it. the only time i’ve done that in the past was for events i participated in where you had x number of months to complete the story. but i wrote everything but a door without having that similar deadline.
and frankly i don’t think i’d write longform fanfic any other way ever again. it takes a hell of a lot pressure off of me tbh.
11) What do you like best about this fic?
........................................
anillis 🤡🤡
give me one of my fic titles and a number

wip list
i’m hoping that by listing out all the things i want to finish, i will actually finish them. unfortunately this new job is still kicking my ass and i am exhausted all of the time + annual summer writers’ block + self-esteem through the floor = not very creatively productive.
if there’s a number in a bracket beside the fic, that’s my top 5 priority list/potential posting order. i’ve stalled out on a lot of these because they’re rare pairs and i’m not confident anyone will read them, which sometimes bums me out when i feel like i spend too much time on something/end up liking it a lot.
this list doesn’t include ofic, which is a much, much longer list.
>75% done
[3] retrieval (the rain, martin/simone), 4k -- post-canon angst fic in which martin is tasked to go back into the zone and rescue the remaining survivors. needs probably a complete rewrite, but all the plot pieces are there.
[4] a long way (game of thrones, jaime/myrcella), 14k -- canon-divergent fic in which cersei dies and jaime has to escort myrcella to winterfell to marry bran. just needs the last couple scenes and a final read-thru.
ace of spades (star wars, kylux), 62k -- modern au in which ben and hux are bffs to lovers. i started this in 2016 and then grad school got in the way and i haven’t picked it up again. i’m hoping episode ix gives me some inspiration to complete it.
~50% done
daisy chains (the 100, octavia/marcus), 14k -- modern au in which marcus is octavia’s step dad and she’s in love with him, side order of blakecest. i started this fic over a year ago and a lot of the aesthetic turned into training wheels, but it’s still its own story and i’ve been wanting so badly to finish it.
new girl (the 100, octavia/jasper), 4k -- high school au in which jasper and octavia start dating, but bellamy is annoying about it. unfinished km fill.
hacker au (the 100, bellarke), 2k -- modern au in which clarke is a porn addict and bellamy uses russian spyware to watch her get off. unfinished km fill.
just started but shows promise
[5] dares (the 100, bellarke), 2k -- modern au in which bellamy and clarke are step siblings spending their final summer together. i was given this prompt during my last prompt spree and i never finished it.
[1] vigilance (the 100, bellarke), 3k -- modern au in which bellamy and clarke are patients in an 8-week therapy program. just prompted a couple days ago. hoping to have it finished today.
not started
[2] tbd (the secret history, henry/richard) -- canon fic in which henry watches richard masturbate while talking about fucking camilla. prompted by @drawsaurus. i plan to start writing it after i post vigilance.
in the blood (the 100, bellamy/octavia) -- prequel to in the water. this one has been on my list to write for over a year. it was my very first fic idea for the fandom, and i think that’s why i haven’t written it yet. it’s so perfect in my head.
cruel intentions au (game of thrones, braime) -- 90s au based on cruel intentions. originally this was prompted for bellarke but it works so much better with braime. i’m not sure if i’ll end up writing this one because it seems like a lot of work, but i’m dying for more braime in my life.
eoe sequel (harry potter, albus/draco) -- the next installment of A Very Thorough History in which scorpius makes erised on the DL and albus finds out. maybe i’ll start this one in winter?
abandoned :(
only sharing to show how many ideas just don’t end up working, or turn into something else. i’m only going back to 2016 on this, up to ace of spades. i’ve abandoned a lot of fics prior to that, but since then i’ve gotten slightly better at completing stuff/figuring out quickly whether something will work out.
secrets to a successful sale (the 100, bellarke), 4k -- modern au in which clarke is trying to sell her house and bellamy is her handyman. abandoned because a lot of the themes are moving to vigilance and i have no idea how to end it.
storms (the 100, bellarke), 5k -- modern au in which clarke and octavia are best friends, and clarke has a crush on bellamy. abandoned because it later merged with daisy chains and turned into training wheels.
the ring (the 100, bellarke), 2k -- canon fic in which clarke lived on the ring for six years instead of bellamy. abandoned because i do not have the patience for longform canon fic, and i feel like this premise has probably already been written better than i could do.
virgin bellamy (the 100, bellarke), 4k -- canon divergent fic in which wanheda is a sex worker who gives bellamy the girlfriend experience. abandoned because it got way out of hand and someone ended up doing a very similar km fill.
river sequel (the 100, bellarke), 2k -- sequel to run me like a river. abandoned because a girl can only write so many noncon piss fics before she gets a reputation. also i don’t like writing pwp sequels.
within cells interlinked (blade runner 2049, joi/k), 3k -- canon divergent au in which joi is turned into a 7 series and is unwittingly k’s prison guard, but she thinks they’re married, as a means of imprisoning/torturing k. abandoned because it was too goddamn plotty, even though i think it has so much potential, and i really did want to finish it :(((
there’s a total of 125k unposted words here, but tbh this helped a lot to write. i thought i had a way longer list and had abandoned a lot more. i’m hoping to post the top five in the next few weeks to help push through my writers’ block.

It's coming up to Fic Challenge season! What challenges are you guys signed up for, if any? Link them here so that other people can sign up!
We all sign up for different challenges and stuff as the summer comes in, and I thought this'd be a great thread to have. Feel free to share what projects you have planned for the challenges, if any, or just link the challenges you're up for.
Challenges are a really great way to push yourself into trying out new kinds of fic, and they can be great fun.
Some common challenges:
Bingo Challenges - A Bingo challenge will usually give you a 5 by 5 card of prompts, matched with a fandom, pairing(s), or character. The way you participate in this challenge is by filling individual squares, meaning you produce up to 25 fanworks over the Bingo period.
Big Bang/Mini Bang - A Big Bang is a challenge where you produce a longform work (ordinarily at least 10k, but for a Mini Bang this might be upwards of 3/5k, and depending on the challenge, it might have a higher minimum) and then an artist picks it up to create 2+ illustrations or art pieces to accompany the fic. It's hugely rewarding to work with an artist on a fanwork, and Big Bangs are a long-running tradition across lots of fandoms.
Reverse Bang - a Reverse Bang is a challenge inspired by the Big Bang, but instead of artists working on already nearly completed/completed works, writers work on pieces inspired by uploaded pieces of art!
Fanwork Exchange - relatively self-explanatory: for challenges like these, one is given a particular prompt by another fanartist, and one exchanges fanworks at a later date. Everyone makes something, everyone gets something, like a fandom potluck!
