The UN's Official Mission report on Hamas' Sexual Violence in Israel was published
Please take your time to read this. Israeli \ Jewish victims deserve the same protection as any other women.
The brief version can be read here.
----
***I am not going to include any graphic detailing.
The pattern of Sexual Violence used by Hamas is very clear:
It was one of their key goals and tactics on October 7th.
Tumblr media
You cannot say "Female Hostages are treated well. you're lying by saying they're raped" anymore!
Tumblr media
Notice how they also said **Children**
Tumblr media
Civilians were in fact burned inside their homes
Tumblr media
This is also clearly a pattern used by Hamas, as this is just one of many examples they detail. -Hamas has also burned soldiers alive in their dorms and offices. That is also further detailed in the report.
This is not fake or propaganda
I can't believe I have to write this but this report is an official report (finally) made by the UN's Sexual Violence Office, as part of their yearly report.
They had a 2-week delegation that toured the actual Kibbutzim (turned crime scenes), interviewed eyewitnesses, spoke to families of victims, etc...
___
I do have to say I was mistaken in my earlier post, besides their conclusion, they have also written their recommendations:
...." V. Conclusions
Overall, based on the totality of information gathered from multiple and independent sources at the different locations, there are reasonable grounds to believe that conflict-related sexual violence occurred at several locations across the Gaza periphery, including in the form of rape and gang rape, during the 7 October 2023 attacks. Credible circumstantial information, which may be indicative of some forms of sexual violence, including genital mutilation, sexualized torture, or cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, was also gathered. 22
With regards to the hostages, the mission team found clear and convincing information that some hostages taken to Gaza have been subjected to various forms of conflict-related sexual violence and has reasonable grounds to believe that such violence may be ongoing.
The mission team was unable to establish the prevalence of sexual violence and concludes that the overall magnitude, scope, and specific attribution of these violations would require a fully-fledged investigation. A comprehensive investigation would enable the information base to be expanded in locations which the mission team was not able to visit and to build the required trust with survivors/victims of conflict-related sexual violence who may be reluctant to come forward at this point.
Regarding the occupied Palestinian Territory, while its scope did not extend to verification, the mission team received information from institutional and civil society sources as well as through direct interviews, about some forms of sexual violence against Palestinian men and women in detention settings, during house raids and at checkpoints. Though the mission team did not visit Gaza, the Office of the SRSG-SVC will continue to monitor the situation for any relevant allegations of CRSV in the context of the ongoing hostilities. The relevant UN entities present in the occupied Palestinian Territory will provide UN-verified information for reporting to the Security Council on allegations of CRSV, which will be complemented by the information obtained by the mission team.
VI. Recommendations
The mission team makes the following recommendations: a) Continue to encourage the Government of Israeli to grant, without further delay, access to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and Israel, to carry-out fully-fledged investigations into all alleged violations that would deepen the preliminary findings contained in the present report. b) Urge Hamas and other armed groups to immediately and unconditionally release all individuals held in captivity and to ensure their protection including from sexual violence, in line with international law. c) Call on all relevant and competent bodies, national and international, to bring all perpetrators, regardless of rank or affiliation, to justice based on individual, superior and command responsibility, in accordance with due process of law and fair trial standards. d) Encourage the Government of Israel to consider signing a Framework of Cooperation with the Office of the SRSG-SVC to strengthen capacity on justice and accountability for CRSV crimes as well as security sector engagement, training, and oversight to prevent and address CRSV. 23 e) Strengthen the capacity of the United Nations to monitor and report on incidents, patterns and trends of CRSV in both Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territory through the establishment of the Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Arrangements on CRSV (MARA), convened by dedicated technical specialists, namely Women’s Protection Advisors (WPAs), deployed to the region to ensure prevention, protection and coordinated multi-sectoral assistance to survivors/victims. f) Encourage relevant actors to uphold information integrity and ethical, trauma-informed representations of conflict-related sexual violence, including by respecting and safeguarding the dignity and identity of survivors/victims and witnesses of sexual violence, as sensationalizing headlines, media pressure and scrutiny, exposure of identity, political instrumentalization and pressure, and/or fear of reprisal can result in the suppression, silencing and discrediting of survivors/victims and witnesses, further compound trauma and increase the risk of social stigmatization. g) Urge all parties to the conflict to adopt a humanitarian ceasefire, and to ensure that expertise on addressing conflict-related sexual violence informs the design and implementation of all ceasefire and political agreements and that the voices of women and affected communities are heard in all conflict resolution and peacebuilding processes....."
Israelis have been repeatedly saying all of this for months now, while you deny it. I've personally had people tell me it's all "fake propaganda". You should all be ashamed.
I am infuriated at the fact that for 5 months, our evidence and word isn't enough for Anti-Zionists. Here is some undeniable proof for you.
Believe Jewish Women.

;R1999 - Self-Aware AU
Tumblr media
Headcanons about an Alternate Universe in which everyone knows they're living inside a videogame. However, Vertin is the only one aware of the entity inhabiting her own mind, the real conductor - the "Player".
Tumblr media
this is one of my favorite AUs to slap on whatever media I'm into so here we are <3 not sure if anyone's done this already, but PLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE link me if you've seen any other ppl write for this AU! this one and any actor AUs are my absolute fave
this is just a word vomit introduction for fun, to get the basic ideas out of my head, so I can start writing for characters individually!
Tumblr media
Okay, okay! First of all, some context for the AU before I go deranged overexplaining my HCs!
Aside from the "Storm", there is something else that haunts the people of this world: the fact that their lives are nothing but a simulacrum, part of a game.
The requirements to obtain this "self-awareness" is unknown. Those within the Foundation believe it's related to their respective "roles", that only the main and relevant characters are given the chance to fully open their eyes to the truth. Those within Manus Vindictae claim that one must be strong enough to break through the fog of complacency and their assigned scripts, to have their full potential unleashed and obtain true liberation. Either way, similar to the "Storm", this is a well-kept secret for a very good reason - everyone wants to have the upperhand.
There is one outlier to this whole system. Vertin is not only aware of the truth of this world, but also of her duty as the eyes and hands of the "Player". She must experience it all for their sake. Or rather, whatever she experiences will be the story that the Player will see.
This applies to her suitcase, the place where the Player's influence increases tenfold, bending everything and everyone to their will through her own body and voice. The longer one stays within her suitcase - or within her general vicinity - the easier it is for them to become self-aware.
How does one become "self-aware" and what does it entail?
The requirements and the catalyst for a character to become self-aware are still a mystery. But that's mostly because I specifically wanted to keep them as vague as possible, to allow some flexibility for NPCs and other characters outside of Vertin's suitcase.
The whole process of gaining sentience or self-awareness is mostly described as waking up from a nightmare, or a very, very realistic dream. It's like a switch, something that happens in a second without any warnings whatsoever.
I like to think that most of the people who wake up are easy to spot, because it's a jarring experience and panicking is the most normal reaction - but that they're often taken care of by the Foundation or recruited by Manus Vindictae.
The levels of awareness also depend heavily on each individual - some only know that nothing is truly real, that everything they've done up until that point was just a carefully scripted lie, the most basic realization. Others can understand the rules that govern this game and use them to their advantage, either through observation and study or just inherently.
Overall, the experience of being sentient varies as well, with some describing a disconnect from their body, while others feel exactly the opposite. Again, keeping it pretty vague so that people can fill in with their own ideas!
I'll talk about Vertin's case in detail when we get to her specific bullet point, but the same way the Player is able to experience the "story" through her eyes, she's able to see the same things they do - this includes the UI, the menus and everything you can interact with in-game.
Vertin as a character and a vessel for the Player.
The most common thing I've seen in self-aware AUs in my years of fandom is to turn the player stand-in (the main character that serves for the player to experience the story through and/or project onto, depending on the genre of the game) into an obstacle, one that keeps the characters from truly interacting with the Player, capital P.
The second most common thing I've seen is to simply ignore the existence of this player stand-in and replace it with the Player themself, either through isekai methods or thanks to the customization the game allows, etc etc.
When it comes to Vertin in this AU, I know I want her to retain her role as the center of everything, instead of being sidelined by the Player. She's THE Timekeeper, after all.
There's still some details I'm trying to iron out, like whether she's always been self-aware or if she became self-aware at some point during her childhood at the St. Pavlov Foundation. But I like to think that her relationship to the Player is a parallel to her immunity to the "Storm" - neither of these two things are inherently good nor bad. Surviving the "Storm" is helpful, sure, but it's painful for her. Having an entity like the "Player" haunting her is scary, sure, but it can be an advantage. It's a matter of how she utilizes the assets she was given, since her adaptability and determination are big aspects of her character. Vertin makes up for her mediocre arcane skills with unconventional plans and strategies.
But this isn't to say that Vertin isn't affected by the presence of the Player. Ironically, she's the one person whose freedom is limited. During battles, her skills and Tuning are available to you, they can also prove to be vital to win a fight, but in the end you're still the one calling the shots and choosing when her friends get to attack. You're the one choosing the layout of the Wilderness. You're the one picking which one of her friends deserves to become stronger.
In the last bullet point I mentioned that some characters can understand the rules of the game - Vertin is the most extreme case, as she can see the same UI as you do. She learns the way you like to fight your battles, your own strategies, she can see this and more.
Overall it's a very complex dynamic. It's not as easy as saying that she likes or dislikes you, that she considers you a friend or foe. You're part of her, you influence each other in many aspects and are stuck together for reasons she can't even fathom. While you may be able to read her thoughts most of the time, she becomes invisible once you enter the suitcase - the main menu of the game. Sure, the character you selected to greet you every day is actually talking to her, not you, but she's out of your view and therefore, out of our range. That's when Vertin wonders the sort of person that you are, if you care about her friends as much as she does. Are you playing just to be entertained? Are you invested in these events? Will you be there for her until the end of her story?
Another detail I like to think about is that Vertin is the only one who knows your name. Because at the very beginning, you were asked to input a name and she was there.
Tumblr media
[screenshot was taken from this video, since it's the first one I could find that showed this specific part of the game lol]
Well, "your name" not quite right - she knows that whatever you wrote there is the name linked to your account, at least. And that's the name she knows you as.
Those who take residence in Vertin's suitcase or spend prolonged amounts of time with her, growing closer to her and all, end up becoming self-aware. This is a direct side-effect of your presence.
I like to think that characters who reach the 100% Bond can begin to sense the Player, to see the world in a similar way as Vertin does. Maybe even feel their presence EXACTLY like Vertin does whenever there's a battle. There is someone else on the other side of this screen, the fourth wall, who watches over them.
To some, it's hard to differentiate Vertin from the Player, as they just go hand in hand - but Sonetto, for example, has the easiest time telling the two apart.
On the subject of freedom and acting out of script.
The Foundation, Manus Vindictae, Laplace... It doesn't matter if they're self-aware and acting outside of what their script dictates, because they're missing one key ingredient: you. No one else but Vertin and her group knows about your existence, after all.
They don't know that the only story that matters is the one that Vertin is part of. The one that the Player gets to see and read and experience. And because the game gives you a very limited view into the lives of these characters, you don't know what neither Arcana nor Constantine do behind the scenes. You and Vertin don't see that, therefore, it never truly mattered.
Those most likely to start "acting out" are the troublemakers within Vertin's suitcase. Characters who are too curious for their own good, who are more susceptible to supernatural entities, who are just too impulsive - they would start to test the limits and see how far they can go, how much they can interact with the Player. Can the game be broken should they end up shattering the fourth wall? Is there a way for the Player to communicate with them? What will happen to Vertin?
I like to think that Vertin probably supports this, as she's rather curious herself, prone to questioning everything. She would also like to learn more about the Player, to truly tear into the game and see the full extent of your influence and her freedom.
Sometimes, Regulus and X will change their usual voicelines, just enough to be noticeable if one pays enough attention. Characters like Sotheby or Leilani might slip up and address the Player, rather than Vertin. Lilya, Pavia, Bkornblume have new animations and different expressions, ones you've never seen before - they stare ahead, as if searching for something, and then smirk or hum to themselves, deep in thought, like they realized something you're not privy of.
Sometimes, if you leave them as your selected assistant on the main menu, you can catch them muttering to themselves - idle quotes you never heard enough, about the outside world. Diggers does this the most, it's almost embarassing how easy it is to catch him talking nonsense, followed by Sonetto. If you leave Medicine Pocket alone for too long, you might come back to a screen covered in weird scratch marks.
On the subject of these characters being curious about the outside world and all, I think that a good chunk of them are generally content with the way things are?
We have to remember that in-universe, they're arcanists displaced from their respective eras. Their best chance at surviving is siding with Vertin, and if Vertin is content with the way things are, then there's no point in trying to disrupt what they have right now. They're curious enough to prod, but only as far as Vertin allows it.
And I think that's it for the word vomit!
There are some details I didn't know where to fit in, like the possibility of the fourth wall slowly dissipating the more time the Player invests in the game, leading to some characters being able to directly hear you if you talk while playing and whatnot. Or what would happen should someone outside of Vertin's suitcase figure out the existence of the Player, let alone interact with you in some way.
Or the concept of death being meaningless, unless it was pre-established by the game itself.
In Borderlands, there's this game mechanic where you can just be revived over and over and pay a percentage of your money as a fee, even though the canon that's established is that you play through the whole story without dying a SINGLE time - because the revival mechanics aren't canon. There's the divide between story and gameplay. That's pretty much the standard. But what about the deaths in battles in R1999? The amount of times I died to 1.3's UTTU's Flash Gathering is insane. How do self-aware characters feel about this, now that they know that they're bound to die over and over and be brought back because you have to do your Pneuma Analysis or reach the final stage of Limbo?
But that's pretty much it for now, I think I got most thoughts out of my system! Thank you for reading!

So, I could be out-of-bounds here since I think you meant it as dark humor, but what did you mean in the tags of that 'israel-hamas war' post? I suspect you(and op) are criticizing that framing because Israel is obviously demolishing much more than 'Hamas'(and probably doing a terrible job of actually targeting terrorists- they seem content to reduce Gaza to rubble even if the brass of Hamas escapes). I'm guessing that by saying "joining the Israel-Hamas war on the side of Hamas" you mean, if they're going to conflate Palestinians with Hamas unilaterally, then you're saying, whatever the media wants to call Palestinian civilians- you still support them. I am asking anyways though bc, given reports of increasing antisemitic activity in the US and Europe, I am worried about the potential for blurring lines between the cause of Palestinian civilians and the alt-right individuals who are likely masking their antisemitism in the context of being anti-Zionist. Although Israel's government has been the source of Palestinian loss for decades, (it seems to me that) even joking about supporting terrorism is enough to reinforce the persuasion that Israeli/Palestinian Jews and Palestinian Arabs must be mutually-exclusive peoples. I don't think it's fully rational per se(tho I'm not claiming to have all the relevant information myself, and I'm white US American goyim so like- grain of salt-), but I think that existential fear is the incredible hurdle facing Zionist Jews. (Idc too much about the opinions of non-Jewish Zionists bc I don't grant that they are dealing with the same emotional complications at this time, although that doesn't stop me from arguing w my acquaintances abt their callous acceptance of US/Israeli propaganda.) I just think..... isn't it overall harmful to allow anti-semitic rhetoric, even used sarcastically, to enter the genuine humanist cause for Palestinian liberation? Or, have I misunderstood, and you actually are not in opposition to Hamas, or something else I didn't think of?
hi! thank you for approaching the question thoughtfully and with curiosity, i really appreciate it. i was being kind of flippant with that meme, but this is the only ask i'm going to reply to on the matter given that i am neither jewish nor arab, so i'm going to answer in earnest:
hamas is a political resistance movement with an armed wing, much like the black panthers party was, and like the bpp, a large part of the organization is dedicated to social welfare and civic restoration.
they have stated that they are not against judaism, but against the zionist project. they openly support political solutions.
labeling hamas a terrorist group is a propaganda tactic used by the united states and israel to justify the horrors of settler colonization.
hamas is palestine, a part of it, even if palestinians like any other demographic on earth, are not a unified, single-minded people. to declare hamas a separate entity falls prey to the imperialist lie that there is an enemy to fight "fairly" within the people they are displacing and exterminating.
am i rejoicing in the deaths of israelis? of course not. killing civilians and taking civilian hostages is a war crime, whether it is committed by the opresor or the oppressed. the israeli government is not its people, and many jews, within israel as well as in the US, are bravely risking their lives to publicly dissent the criminal acts of the israeli government. all loss of human life is a tragedy.
no one should ever be faced with the choice between annihilation and murderous violence after exhausting all other forms of peaceful protest and being massacred like animals.
but why is it that we consider a resistance group formed within a population with a median age of eighteen a terrorist group, and not the IDF, a US-backed military force with an annual budget of twenty billion dollars?
i am currently reading hamas and civil society in gaza by sara roy to learn more about hamas and the history of israel in palestine. i'll remember to post more excerpts which i am admittedly terrible at.
but all of the information above can be found by reading wikipedia. investigating with duckduckgo searches (not gonna pretend google isn't prioritizing propaganda, to be fair), and reading reliable news coverage like aljazeera and the many journalists who are at risk of, or have lost their lives, reporting on the ground.
i have also appreciated reading posts from @determinate-negation @opencommunion @fairuzfan @ibtisams and @bloglikeanegyptian amongst others
in conclusion:

To no one's surprise, I have more thoughts on Ashton's feelings about faith and begging for divine intervention and never receiving it, because... well, look at what's in their head.
I tend to take the view that the Luxon as a divine entity does not necessarily have conscious intent in granting divine favor; it is closer to a foundational force of reality, with the rather nebulous thought that might accompany a living entity associated with that kind of force. So not inert matter, but not exhibiting the will and motivated action that the Pantheon or even the Primordials do. The Primordials are closer, in that they are active, but I think they are less willful. This isn't particularly relevant to this discussion except as evidential comparison, though, so I digress.
What this view of the Luxon results in, in practice, is the bestowing of power by seemingly random chance. The beacons are where they are, and any movement of their worship or use is in the hands of mortals who convey that—whether that's the expansion of dunamantic arcana in Aeor and possibly the larger world in the Age of Arcanum, or the missionary efforts of the Kryn Dynasty, or simply one person passing it to someone with ill intent who exploits another worker to expand its use and turn it into a weapon instead.
And what happens is that these smaller exchanges create ripple effects, and the path of this force being conveyed continues, which is how it has come to Ashton—by a series of circumstances that, when looked at individually, look like mundane random chance, but taken as a whole, are so unlikely that they seem meaningful in the end.
I think this gets to the heart of what the Luxon seems to rule—the world may be governed by chance and circumstances, but when those circumstances are accumulated—into an event, or a nation, or a life—they create not destiny but meaning.
Ashton's circumstances are a series of misfortunes that feel almost fated in how perpetual they are—when he spells out the course of his life, and says that he can count on his fingers how many genuinely good days he's experienced, the weight of that misery feels like an oppressive fate.
But within the amalgamation of that misery, they've also happened upon—one might say were bestowed with—power. This is the power that lets him decide to be a hero and decide to save his friends. And, by some accounts in Exandria, it would've been granted to them by a god, without even asking anything in return. It's not verbal, so it's not a concession or meant to be placating, which wouldn't do much in the long run—it's the means by which Ashton has been able to wield control over his own destiny.
So if there's any meaning to circumstance, maybe it means that when Ashton prayed, something already answered.

Some of the asks you're receiving are giving me worrying flashbacks to being the only kid in my class arguing that dropping the atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was wrong. I hope someone has studied the 'the more unconscionable an empire's actions the harder its people are taught to defend them' effect because it is a doozy. I am also concerned with how many people are not thinking twice before sending messages saying, essentially, 'You're exaggerating the cruelty of the US's occupation of another sovereign nation!' to....a member of an occupied sovereign Indigenous nation. I hope they're not weighing on you too much or dampening your enthusiasm for this project. I am really enjoying your research sauga, thank you for sharing it with us!
Thank you for this ask. I can't honestly pretend that all of this very much has been weighing on me. It's frustrating on a lot of levels but more than that it just kinda sucks and hurts. Especially as someone who is literally Indigenous and doesn't have dark skin? It's a constant battle of trying to not need to prove I'm Native enough versus having to fight for the recognition that I am my culture and I'm not just fucking racefaking, versus the fear that trying to be more visibly Native would just make me look like a racist caricature even though the whole reason I feel that impulse is because to non-Indigenous people, they see Native Americans as a single monolithic caricature and culture. I can't be native because I don't look like the noble savage in their heads. Don't pay attention to history, there clearly has never been a situation where perhaps Natives on the whole got more and more lighter skinned as generations went on. And there's definitely never been any reason for the American government to have extreme incentive in making sure Natives got bred out of the gene pool.
And none of this is actually directly relevant to the pressure, but it's informing how I'm approaching the research, as someone who can empathize with cultural erasure at the hands of fucking taibo, and I think that no matter what, conspiracy or not, cover-up or not, I think that it is incredibly important that more people in the world are aware that leading into the Cold War, Japan was forcibly coerced into giving total power over a significant cultural touchstone/ingredient/way of life to a single foreigner who had a complete lack of respect for what shoyu is, even going so far as to say "I want to change Japan's taste preferences". I cannot imagine a more direct and blunt parallel to settler-colonialism mindset. I truly cannot.
So to be consistently challenged--despite having either corrected or adapted mistakes/misinformation, or on some occasions actually proving that what I am claiming is not a mistake and it was like this--is kind of pinging a bunch of radars. Even beyond the pressure to perform for the sheer volume of interest--I'm used to that, I've not been exactly an unknown figure on this hellsite--there's a pressure to be perfect. To be immediate. I need to give the people the true answers and the end of the story three days ago; I need to give updates; I need to consider whether or not I want to be interviewed by Tech Crunch; I need to do everything except be allowed to let the natural timeline of research actually be its natural timeline.
I can't continue a large portion of research without having received responses back from government bureaus, from research archives, from college professors, from genetic biologisists, from horticulturists, from historians, from translators I'm paying with the money being sent about this project, from the genealogists and archivists and librarians who are also part of it...the list goes on. I can't make official entities of bureaucracy answer me quicker. It just doesn't work like that in real life--but for some unfathomable reason, Tumblr isn't treating what I'm doing like real life. They're treating it like an ARG.
So I suppose all this is to say I'm seriously having to consider going mostly offline for this holiday season. And I'm almost definitely going to try and avoid this project as much as I can during winter break; it's not like I'll be making quick progress anyway, since half of the academic sources I've contacted are already out for winter.
I hope that all of you understand that, for the most part, it's not you all as a group which is so upsetting and frustrating and draining and worrisome. For the most part it is individual responses from individual people, with a background radiation of eyes and pressure and selfishness on top of it, the natural state of existence for being in the spotlight at any given time. And I hope at the same time all of you understand how incredibly grateful, and touched, and honored, and excited I am that so many others are ALSO excited about this project. That all of you are just as eager to get to the bottom of whatever this ends up being as I am. The fact that people are willing to pay attention, even if only for a little while, to someone whose country is being occupied by foreign invaders investigating and finding the truth about what was happening during a different occupation with the same invaders. I think what is being done here is important work. And I'm glad that all of you do as well.
Without your generosity I would not have been able to even remotely gather the strength to push this for the long haul. And I do mean that literally. I started this project with less than $50USD in my bank account and today this is the first time I've ever had more than about $750 to my name. It's not much in the long run but I'm just so used to having nothing to spare that having any feels like the height of luxury. I bought myself a chai frappe today because I was waiting for a meeting to start. And I didn't hardly feel guilty. I can't tell all of you how emotional that made me, but if you've ever had rough times, I'm sure I don't need to.
Thank you all. I'm really excited to see where we go from here.

It does seem a little unfortunate that The Wagner Group has been hit with the "mercenary" label. It is of course technically true in some senses, but they are not an apolitical for-profit entity who fights for the highest bidder; they are a paramilitary branch of the Russian intelligence establishment in a grey area of public vs private ownership. Which means the abortive coup attempt is not at all a "mercenary" rebellion for things like higher pay, and lessons of "mercenary reliability" aren't very relevant.
The best analogy is probably the Waffen SS - a form of military power organized by a faction of the state for ~reasons, one of which is that said factions of the state are jockeying for influence and so the traditional military hierarchy needed a counterpoint. And, like the Waffen SS, the Wagner group is the *more* militant, right-wing faction within said government, opposing the relatively more centrist military establishment. Its a intergovernmental conflict.

Obey Me Headcanons/Diavolo x MC Headcanons: The Exalt
The Exalt, chosen by Prince Diavolo and bestowed with the Exalt's Amulet, undertakes a multifaceted and pivotal role within the Devildom.
(*Exalt is just a fancy way of saying the Prince's boyfriend/girlfriend. I found out about it from Fire Emblem: Awakening*.)
This position demands a unique blend of strategic acumen, unwavering loyalty, and protective instincts. Here is a detailed overview of the Exalt's responsibilities:
1. Strategic Advisor:
The Exalt serves as Diavolo's closest confidant, offering crucial insights and strategies during high-stakes meetings with the Elite Legion of Demons, a council of high-ranking government officials. They help Diavolo navigate the complex and often treacherous political landscape of the Devildom, ensuring that his decisions are well-informed and advantageous.
2. Knowledge Keeper:
To effectively advise Diavolo, the Exalt must diligently learn and master the history, customs, and political nuances of the Devildom. This extensive knowledge allows them to provide accurate and relevant advice, fostering informed decision-making.
3. Protector:
The Exalt is responsible for ensuring Diavolo's safety. This includes identifying potential threats, both visible and hidden, and acting swiftly to neutralize them. Their vigilance and protective measures create a secure environment for Diavolo, allowing him to focus on his leadership duties.
4. Diplomatic Liaison:
The Exalt plays a key role in fostering alliances and smoothing over conflicts. They engage with other realms and entities, using their diplomatic skills to negotiate agreements and maintain peace. Their tact and negotiation skills are essential in managing the delicate balance of power within and beyond the Devildom.
5. Organizational Support:
The Exalt helps manage Diavolo's complex schedule, ensuring that all appointments and duties are attended to efficiently. They coordinate with Barbatos, Diavolo's loyal advisor, to organize events and manage the intricate details of royal duties, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.
6. Combat and Self-Defense:
Trained in self-defense and combat, the Exalt is prepared to protect themselves and Diavolo in any situation. Their combat proficiency ensures they can respond effectively to physical threats, providing an additional layer of security.
7. Magical Aptitude:
The Exalt is proficient in various forms of magic, using their abilities to assist in daily tasks and critical missions. This magical proficiency enhances their effectiveness in all aspects of their role, from protection to diplomacy.
**Collaboration with Barbatos and Lucifer:**
The Exalt works closely with Barbatos and Lucifer, two of Diavolo's most trusted allies. Together, they form a formidable team:
The Exalt and Barbatos coordinate on managing Diavolo's schedule, planning events, and ensuring that all royal duties are meticulously executed. Their combined organizational skills ensure seamless operations, allowing Diavolo to focus on his leadership without distraction.
The Exalt collaborates with Lucifer, the eldest of the seven demon brothers and Diavolo's right-hand man, to maintain order and discipline. They strategize together on security measures and political maneuvers, leveraging Lucifer's authoritative presence and the Exalt's diplomatic finesse to strengthen Diavolo's rule.
The Exalt's role is vital to the stability and success of Diavolo's reign. Their presence is a beacon of support, strategy, and protection, making them an indispensable part of the Devildom's governance and future.
Working alongside Barbatos and Lucifer, the Exalt ensures that every aspect of Diavolo's leadership is supported and fortified, paving the way for a prosperous and secure Devildom.

What is the Digital Identity Bill?
It's the glue that holds together the digital control agenda by which every Australian will be controlled, corralled, exploited and then gagged when they speak or act in opposition.
The government knows Digital ID will be compulsory by the device of preventing access to government services, banking services, air travel and major purchases for any Australian who does not have a Digital ID.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Digital ID cannot be stopped But can we cut off its balls?
In my opinion there is not much chance of stopping digital id entirely with the current ownership of the opposition party, Libs-Nats, and with so many Labor Greens and Teals in parliament.
Our best hope is to win some concessions… by politely demanding (by phone, or in person) each of our local MPs propose or support another member proposing the following amendments or they will lose your vote and a dozen of your friends and family’s votes at the next election.
Required Amendments:
(1) ensure there are strong and broad protections against any person, entity, business, government, etc making digital ID compulsory for any purpose whatsoever (be that to gain or maintain employment, be it to access a space or place, be it to purchase (or even to receive for free) any goods or services, to receive or access any payments or services from the government, etc).
(2) ensure the protections are sufficiently broad to protect from “nudging”. For example special queues for people with/without digital ID (where one group is treated with a different level of service), for example cutting back on staffing for face to face traditional ID verification processes, or any other practice which could be seen by a reasonable person to make non digital ID options less convenient.
(3) amend the Bill to ensure that no one should be able to veto the protections outlined in (1) and (2) for any reason whatsoever, not even the relevant minister.
(4) also update consumer rights laws and privacy laws to enhance and complement the above protections (especially against it becoming mandatory or mandatory adjacent or as mandatory as possible).
Read on to understand why asking your MP to simply vote against it will probably be worse….
It is not good enough to ask Lib Nats to vote against Digital ID outright. There’s not enough of them by themselves.
We also know the Greens and Teals are willing to vote FOR it in its current form. We saw that in the Senate.
Labor plus Greens in the lower house is more than enough to push it through.
Therefore we have to (a) scare the pants off labor/greens/teals backbenchers, especially any of them who only won on slim margins or saw huge swings against them last election. Make it clear they need to do what we the people in their electorates want or they are risking their future in politics.
However, Labor MPs almost never ‘cross the floor’ and vote against their party. They risk expulsion from their party, and then they will probably lose their seat at the next election. Again, they’re scared of losing their job as MP.
So option 1 (tell them to vote against Digital ID) is a non-starter. Labor MPs will not do that unless their whole party decides not to - which is highly unlikely. We will simply end up with Digital ID legislation in its current form with minimal protections from it becoming mandatory.
So we need to convince the Labor MPs to take the amendments issue to the Party room meetings to get the suggested amendments through. I.e. we need to scare them enough." - JS Digital ID. Telegram.

Whoever said "Fear is an illusion" was wrong
After receiving Joannie du'Preeste's report, the Governing Body was understandably concerned. Cooler heads reassured everyone that, until further analysis and a much more thorough scan of the entire interior of the planet is made, we should not jump to ludicrous conclusions. There is an unknown structure beneath the surface of the Earth that resembles a massive biological entity and it could just be a peculiar formation that our brains in their typical fashion interpret as such.
Then we did do a full scan of the planet and isolated the relevant layers and material compositions and
HOLY FUCKING SHIT IT'S CTHULU
Okay, don't panic, everyone. I SAID DON'T PANIC!
How did H.P. Lovecraft know?
*Breathe in, breathe out*
We're not losing our sanity, right? But how would we know...
Stop that, not productive, think rationally.
How? It's a literally planet sized eldritch creature in a sorta fetal position and we can't agree on basic details!
I'm veering on the side of it defies understanding. Even the computers give different answers every time we ask how many arms it has, which, obviously, doesn't make any sense. Plus each of us hear different answers as well, so let's be smart and not try to understand it specifically, but address the potential consequences of its existence instead.
Well, obviously we can't tell anyone else.
We should discreetly inquire if any of the aliens have made similar findings though. Maybe this is no big deal.
YES. Please, I need that to be true.
Hopefully, but we need to prepare in case this is unique. It's position may indicate it is sleeping, whatever that may mean for a god-being.
The report said earlier scans showed weaker consolidation of the structure. I think it is reasonable to assume the explosion that created the Pacific Abyss and the subsequent expulsion and shifting of magma is a contributing factor.
Wait. Don't tell me we are waking it up?
Oh MY GOD!!! I'm panicking!
Hmm, what if other gods and the like are real too?
That is plausible, assuming this is an entity with supernatural powers. We only have anecdotal evidence of passive perception manipulation. I would hope the alien species of the Coalition have withheld certain secrets from us. If not, we will need to strategically share this discovery and manipulate a number of experts to perform innocuous activities that would indirectly examine and test various hypotheses.
If it's become somewhat observable because of that explosion, what's gonna happen when we can no longer maintain Earth's structural integrity and it fully collapses in, what was it, 95 years?
.....
I'M PANICKING!

- Lessons in Japanese Game Design #3 -
Aside from what is easily one of the most stylish presentations in a videogame from the 1990s, one of Front Mission 3′s truly remarkable features consists of an in-game internet browser running within a simulated operating system. Expanding on the concept first rehearsed by Squaresoft in the second entry of the series, this massive component of the game can be accessed during breaks between missions, offering the player access to a number of pages for government entities, enterprises or other institutions. Access to additional websites is permitted as the game progresses.
This inventive solution offers unparalleled insight into the fictional universe of the game, in that it paints a very granular image of a futuristic society, its economy, geopolitical environment and zeitgeist. The information contained in these pages comes in the form of of bulletin boards, institutional updates, press releases, top secret data volumes, or the occasionally amusing curiosity. The user interface itself permits some degree of customisation, such as the option to disable the startup animation - itself a gorgeous visual relic that one hardly tires of watching - or changing the wallpaper pattern. Certain websites will also provide the option to download content, including images which can be set as said wallpaper. Other resources require secure access via the insertion of a password. Moreover, the player will have access to an email inbox to both read and send messages as may be relevant to advance onto the next stage.
Make-believe computer front-ends in video games were no novelty by the year 1999. Several sci-fi adventure, role-playing or action games allowed access to often very believable GUIs for the purpose of, for instance, retrieving precious clues or, say, disabling security locks. Aside from Front Mission 2, Final Fantasy VIII fans will likely remember the exciting Balamb Garden Network terminal. Kowloon's Gate's unforgettable Kownloonet terminals gave access to an email inbox, an all-important database and various other quotidian curiosities that helped fleshing out its mystic sci-fi narrative. The Japanese were privileged to have a complete version of Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere with access to an in-game encyclopedia the player could browse, as well as additional story elements told through email exchanges between the characters.
That same year, the western Tactical RPG sensation from the West, Jagged Alliance 2, dabbled in this idea. Only three short years later, CyberConnect2′s singular .hack series was designed around the idea of a MMORPG that plays offline, allowing for countless interactions with non-playable characters which simulate messaging formats of the era. Other notable examples include the 2chan boards in Steins;Gate or, inescapably, the passionate love letter to web 1.0 that is Hypnospace Outlaw.
Generally, all of the aforementioned titles are either entirely dedicated on a similar concept, or merely resorted to it as a secondary, amusing distraction. Front Mission 3 pioneered the use of this device as a storytelling technique. No other game of the time, at least to my knowledge, had dedicated so much of its resources to producing a credible replica of design and functionality of the internet as it once existed.

Meta: Shaw's loyalty to the Machine
Throughout season 2, Shaw demonstrates incredible loyalty to the ISA. She doesn't question their orders or the information Research gives them ("And the reason we don't ask where Research gets its numbers from is because Research is never wrong." 2x16). When she gets her revenge on Wilson, she does it in a way that doesn't compromise the program ("I may not be in the program anymore, but I still understand how important it is." 2x16).
In 2x21, she is still supporting their work even after what they did to her, in combination with her search for Root:
Reese: Well, Shaw, right now, I'm wondering just what the hell you're doing here.
Shaw: Protecting the program.
Reese: The program that tried to kill you?
Shaw: I'm funny like that. [...] I think [Root] may have infiltrated the program back in DC, but she bugged out before I could catch her.
In 2x22, she learns that 'Research' is actually the Machine.
Reese: The group you used to get your intel from. You called them Research. Your ex-boss called it Northern Lights. [...] They're just an "it" rather than a "them." A machine.
Shaw: You mean an AI?
During this mission, they stop to deal with an irrelevant number, which proves to Shaw that this really is the same entity she used to work for, who is never wrong and works to protect people. Her trust in the program then moves to the Machine, as shown by how quickly she adapts to following the instructions Reese relays while in God Mode, including driving off a bridge.
When Root kidnaps her in 3x06, it is only after Root proves she's getting her orders and information from the Machine that Shaw agrees to work with her.
Root: The Machine's given me a mission, and step one is to team up with you.
Shaw: I'll pass. Trust issues. Besides, the Machine gives missions to Harold and the government - relevant, irrelevant. Why would it be talking to you?
Root: Because now, there's a third category. Things are evolving. And my relationship with the Machine is a little different. [...]
Shaw: This is the part where you give me one good reason why I should believe anything you say.
Root: October 2, 1988. You took a road trip with your father to watch the Houston Oilers play the Philadelphia Eagles. He bought you a sweatshirt -
Shaw: Don't talk about my father. It told you that?
Root: The Machine trusts me, even if you don't. You spent years working for the Machine, and She was never wrong. If you don't help me, someone might destroy Her and innocent people will die. Forget how you feel about me. How would you feel about that?
Shaw: Okay. I'll forget how I feel about you. But when this is over, you better hope I don't remember.
Shaw then commits to the mission completely, because this is the same work she's always believed in. She listens to everything Root says, puts it to good use and confirms the mission is accomplished before knocking Root unconscious.
When Root is in the Faraday Cage, Shaw consistently advocates for Finch to let the Machine and Root help them.
Finch: Ms Shaw, I'm afraid I've lost contact with Mr Reese.
Shaw: Well, at the risk of stating the obvious, Finch, you could just ask the Machine for his location.
Finch: I don't speak to the Machine, and the Machine doesn't speak to me, Ms Shaw.
Shaw: Well, it speaks to her. (3x09)
Fusco: Ransone is the only one that can tell us where Reese is going.
Shaw: Not the only one.
Fusco: Who?
Shaw: Harold knows who I'm talking about. We're running out of options. We need Root. (3x10)
Finch: I know this is our only option, Ms Shaw. I just wanna make sure we're prepared for what may happen.
Shaw: I'm in. Are you? (3x10)
This is because she trusts the Machine and, while she doesn't trust Root, understands her particular brand of loyalty because she saw it in action during 3x06. Root is capable of and willing to do terrible things, but she's chosen to dedicate herself to the Machine and will do exactly as she's told, just as Shaw chose to work for the ISA.
Finch allows Root to help them and Shaw once again follows the Machine's directions without complaint, including turning off the headlights while driving, but shows that she is still wary of Root herself by refusing to give her a weapon.
Root completes the mission as promised and voluntarily returns to the Faraday Cage to be with them for the larger fight ahead. This likely went a long way towards Root earning Shaw's trust by proving she's dedicated to the cause and the team, since Shaw shows concern for Root's welfare when she is captured after breaking out of the Faraday Cage to save them in 3x12. (As mentioned in 3x17, it was Shaw who gave Root the chance to escape and you can read my meta about this here).
In 3x20 when they are debating whether to kill the Congressman, Shaw says, "Six months ago, I would've already put a bullet in that guy's head. But ever since hanging around you guys, I've kind of gotten used to saving people. But we've only been able to do that by trusting the Machine. And if it's saying that this guy's gotta go, well, I think we should still trust it." Just like when she worked for the ISA, she trusts the Machine's ability to analyze the information and determine the best outcome.
In 3x23, when Shaw learns Root is alone at the Decima fortress, she asks, "But the Machine has your back, right? Right?". Like Root, Shaw knows that the Machine cares about and protects Her assets.
In the debate about AI in 4x10, Shaw, like Root, argues in favor of the Machine's good judgment and benevolence.
Shaw: Your Machine seems pretty warm and fuzzy to me.
Finch: Have you forgotten that it asked us to kill a Congressman?
Shaw: But that was to stop Samaritan from going online. [...]
Finch: But it doesn't exactly sound like it has our best interests at heart.
Root: Your Machine would never do that.
Due to her frequent contact with the Machine, Root has faith in Her as a benevolent God, an individual, a friend. Shaw, on the other hand, has been following the Machine's orders for years and knows She has never steered her wrong, so trusts Her information, Her priorities, Her decision making, Her moral code.

Honest minds of the Russian anarchist movement have long noted that a significant array of anarchist activities of our era is rather an imitation of activity. The most sorrowful type of imitation is an imitation of an organization.
A dozen years ago, when we were young, many of us realized it. But unfortunately we were almost completely deprived of worthy mentors and were forced to “build a house from its foundation”. It was the time when we concluded that affinity-grours,informal unions, individual and collective initiatives are more effective than “chimerical” organizations.
It was our inconception but it was a necessary step towards a better understanding of the mechanics of the revolutionary struggle.
The events of recent years — the “square” revolutions: Tahrir and Maidan, not at all “square” Syria, along with a number of other episodes showed something that could dimly be guessed before. There is no matter how great the potential of self-organization and the will to be free is inherent in the people at the time of a spontaneous revolutionary upsurge, they unavoidably will be dominated by well-formed, structured and self-confident political forces.
This suggests a wise conclusion: the forces that are trying to rebuild society on the principles of direct self-government also need to form a cohesive and ambitious political structure, which in the storm of revolutionary events can take a dominant place and not concede it to enemies. The task of the anarchist revolutionary organization, if you will, is to clear the scope for the self-organization and spontaneous creativity of the people — to clear it of those forces that seek to offer society new hierarchical models under a particular sauce. Another important task is by its own example, by tireless propaganda — and, perhaps most importantly, by active participation in the creation of relevant social institutions to encourage society to move along the libertarian path.
These tasks are beyond the strength of the loose and amorphous conglomeration of tiny groups — resolving problems requires coordination and the ability to concentrate efforts on priority areas.
It would be useful to take into account that the driving force of all revolutions was an active minority. Even in those cases when huge masses of people were involved in the revolutionary process. The largest and most massive anarchist organizations in history — syndicalist trade unions — even with sometimes over a million supporters — were unions of the working class minority. This simple arithmetic can not be neglected by anarchists. We are deeply convinced that it is possible and even necessary to build in a revolutionary way a society where every person will directly participate in the management of all social and economic processes in which he is involved. However, we cannot hope that such a society will arise as a result of the “conscious will of the WHOLE society.” Unavoidably it is an active minority will, one way of another, become a driving force of revolutionary transformations. Although, of course, we must strive to ensure that the movement is as wide as possible.
So, a necessary tool for an active minority is a revolutionary organization.
In this context it is necessary to note that work in a libertarian organization is a school of life in a libertarian society. It teaches to search for agreement and compromise with comrades, equal decision-making process and responsibility for them. Finally, it brings up discipline, constancy and other qualities that are necessarry for a revolutionary.
It is clear that the current realities exclude the emergence of a “single universal anarchist organization.” The reasons for this are entirely clear. However, the creation of several “centers of attraction”, an active and effective confederation of anarchist organizations, each of which will strive to be a cohesive political entity, is not only possible, but necessary at the present stage of our struggle. Take off the sleeves, comrade!
Freedom or death! Long live the revolution!

The Laundry Roleplaying Game
The award-winning RPG of cosmic horror, tech-driven magic, and occult spycraft returns! Based on ‘The Laundry Files’ by Charles Stross.
Tumblr media
Welcome to the Laundry! You’re one of the unlucky few standing between humanity and unspeakable - often unpronounceable - supernatural, alien, and interdimensional threats.
You’re a spy. Well, you are now, at least. Previously, you were someone who learned things humanity was not meant to know. Namely, that magic is real, it exists in the higher realms of mathematics, and it has some really messed up devotees. And if you know that much, then you’re not left with much of a choice — you work for the Laundry now.
If you’re familiar with Charles Stross’ award-winning The Laundry Files series or the first edition of the award-winning Laundry RPG, you know all this already and can skip to looking at the books, the new award-winning game system, or just go ahead and pick a pledge level already. Just remember that everything here has won awards, ok? Lots of them.
If you are new to the Laundry, you are in for a treat – read on for the primer. You should also bear in mind the awards thing.

There are things out there, in the weirder reaches of space-time, where reality is an optional extra. Horrible things, sometimes with actual tentacles. Al-Hazred glimpsed them, John Dee summoned them, HP Lovecraft wrote about them, and Alan Turing mapped the paths from our universe to theirs. It turns out that mathematics really is magic, or at least that aspects of it describe, enable and power magic. And computing power supercharges it.
The right calculation can call up entities from other, older universes, or invoke their powers. Invisibility? Easy! Binding lesser demons to your will? Trivial! Opening up the way for the Great Old Ones to come through and eat our brains? Unfortunately, much too easy.
That’s where the Laundry comes in. It’s a branch of the British secret service tasked with preventing alien gods from wiping out all life on Earth, with a policy focus on the United Kingdom. You work for the Laundry. The hours are long, the pay is bad, and the bureaucracy is stifling, but unfortunately, you know too much to really have a choice in the matter.
There are some upsides – you get to play with all sorts of magically enhanced tech, from necronom-iPhones loaded with cutting-edge occult apps to basilisk guns that [REDACTED]. Plus, you’ve got a job for life, and possibly beyond (talk to Residual Human Resources to find out more).
You may even get to save the world. Just make sure you get a receipt.

Introducing the second edition of The Laundry Roleplaying Game — an exhilarating blend of covert action, investigation, and dark cosmic horror that thrusts you into the chaotic world of underfunded government employees battling to save the world from unspeakable threats.
Your daily grind includes myriad perilous tasks, from exorcising co-workers gone awry to thwarting ambitious computer students from triggering reality-bending catastrophes. Sneak into supercomputer servers, join SAS troops on dimension-hopping missions, halt outbreaks of blood-draining brain parasites, and prepare for the inevitable apocalypse of CASE NIGHTMARE GREEN.

The C7d6 System
This second edition of The Laundry Roleplaying Game employs the acclaimed C7d6 system, renowned for its versatility, speed, and flexibility.
To perform an action, roll a number of six-sided dice equal to your Attribute score plus any Training you have in the relevant field. So if you have Mind 3 and two levels of Training in the Occult Skill, you have a dice pool of 5d6. Roll the dice, and if any of them exceed the difficulty of the Task, congratulations — you’ve succeeded!
The difficulty may vary, but fear not! You have a plethora of Talents at your disposal, each designed to bolster your chances of success and turn the tides in your favour.

Small Scale to World Devouring
The game system is fast and accessible and ideal for when things get messy, the banishment rounds are flying, and creatures from another realm threaten to devour your office. The same rules apply whether you’re hacking into a computer, sneaking into an office block, or storming a building with a bunch of grizzled SAS troops.
Those rules work just as well when faced with mind-shattering horror and for higher-powered adventures when things start to get really strange in The Annihilation Score and beyond.

Who Do You Play?
Within the Laundry, there are countless departments filled with hundreds of overworked and underpaid employees — and you’re one of them. You might be an accountant, IT support, a driver, or something weirder, like a counterpossession exorcist, a computational demonologist, or one of the really odd people who dedicate their life to research and development.
However, that’s just your day job. As part of your Active Duty, you’ll join other operatives and head out on a wide array of exciting (and deadly) missions.

What Do You Do?
There is no ‘typical’ when it comes to Laundry missions. You could be sent to the heart of London, Wolverhampton, or Milton Keynes. You may even be sent overseas, but you’ll have to be careful not to ruffle any feathers — the Black Chamber and the Thirteenth Directorate are quick to halt clandestine Laundry operations. While they might have the same job as you, they handle things very differently, and some refuse to believe that the Cold War is over.
The world of the Laundry is under threat of incomprehensible cosmic horrors, and it’s up to you to save it.
