TREEHOUSE
based off of this, this, this, & this
Tumblr media
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: soft dom!nate x virgin!sls!reader
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: reminiscing your relationship with nate where it all started: in his treehouse.
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: SMUT, FLUFF, swearing, p in v, praising
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 1,181
𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: day ONE of nate week!
so pumped😇
Tumblr media
creaking from the wooden panels of nate’s treehouse sound from underneath your shoes. some would say treehouses aren’t for nineteen-year-olds, but your boyfriend will strongly disagree.
it still stands after almost two decades, hundreds of memories made here with him and your older brothers. it’s been a while since you’ve been up here, but even if he doesn’t admit it, you can tell nate still hangs out from how tidy it is.
“you still have the pirate hats.” you giggle, pointing to them neatly placed on a shelf above the small sofa he has against the wall.
each hat matched your personalities, with your names written in your favorite colors. they’re faded by now, but you can still make the writing out.
christopher. matthew. nicolas. nathan. y/n.
your brothers are wonderful with you dating their best friend because nate liked you for years. ever since you were children; and he never gave up on you.
summer break is a kid’s favorite time of year. the sun is shining, the nice weather, hanging out with your friends day by day. it’s great.
four boys bicker in front of the ladder, and a young y/n is sitting on the porch steps playing with her dolls.
“dude, just ask already!” chris argues, holding a fake pirate hook in his hand.
“yeah, what’s taking so long?” nick chimes in.
matt’s arms are crossed over his chest. “he’s got a little crush on our sister, that’s why.”
“i do not!” nate yells, eyepatch over his eye and his pirate hat lopsided. he stomps his feet in a tantrum-like manner. “girls probably don’t even like playing pirates!”
they bicker for seconds more, until matt’s had enough and pushes the boy toward you. he hesitates, but walks to the stairs. “hey, y/n!” he exclaims, taking a seat next to you.
you smile, setting your toys down. “hi, nate.”
“would you— um…” he turns to the triplets, and they motion him to hurry up. he sighs, looking back at you. “would you like to play pirates with us? there’s an extra hat.”
bringing your finger to your chin, you think and then nod. “sure! i’d love to play pirates!”
nate grins from ear to ear, grabbing your hand and leading you toward your siblings.
that’s not the only heirloom hidden in plain sight. the screws are still stuck in the wall where the NO GIRLS ALLOWED sign used to be until you guys started hanging out alone and he threw it away immediately.
there are still old decorations from previous years, like the spongebob blanket or the mario and luigi plushies. as he got older, though, the decorating became more mature.
another core memory is when he asked you to be his girlfriend right where you’re standing. well, he tried to ask, but he couldn’t get the words out.
“can i ask you something?” nate questions, refusing to make eye contact as he fidgets with the gaming controller in his hand.
you nod. “of course.”
“so, um… do you want to, uh—” he stammers as your eyebrows furrow in confusion.
“what do you mean?” you giggle.
“um, y’know. do you want— uh, to be— um—”
“are you asking me to be your girlfriend, nate?” you ask, smirking while raising a brow.
his face heats up, his hand rubbing the back of his neck. “yeah.”
the sound from the small TV completely fades, your inner thoughts taking over instead. now, it’s nighttime, and the fairy lights in the treehouse make the room dimly lit.
your head rests on his chest, his heartbeat soothing to your ears.
even though you guys have been together for a while now, you’ve never done it. hell, you’re still a virgin. nate’s been patient with you every step of the way. “what’re you thinking about?” he asks.
shaking your head to snap out of it, you look up, already seeing him staring down at you. “nothing.”
he knows you’re lying, and patiently waits there until you sigh. “i’m ready.” you start as he listens intently. “i want to… have sex… with you.”
he smiles warmly, taking a piece of hair and placing it behind your ear. “are you sure?”
nodding, he then starts to lean into where his lips ghost yours. “yeah?” he whispers, your eyes set on his mouth, so badly wanting to kiss him.
the softness of his lips syncing with yours has your legs squeezed together. he leans more in, deepening the kiss while also laying you flat on the cushions. your knuckles turn white to how hard you’re gripping on his shoulders when he starts to remove your pants and underwear.
“you’re tense.” he points out, rubbing the outside of your thighs in a soothing motion. “relax.”
you didn’t realize how tense your body was until he pointed it out. taking a deep breath, he starts to untie his bottoms.
“breathe for me, okay?” he reassures, lining himself up before slowly moving his pelvis forward. it hurts for sure, but it’s more of a pressure feeling. “relax.” he says again, feeling your anxiety.
a pained moan leaves your lips once he’s in, and it just hits you that your childhood friend, who turned into a crush, and is now your boyfriend is inside of you. “you okay?”
you nod, taking his hand in yours. “i know you tell your brothers everything but—” he cuts himself off with a groan when his dick twitches, desperately wanting to move. he starts to thrust his hips slowly, low whines tickling from your throat. “for my own sake, don’t tell them about this.”
his thrusts get gradually faster, but they’re soft so he doesn’t hurt you in any way. the pain soon turns to pleasure, arms wrapping around his neck. he keeps asking if you’re okay every two minutes, so to shut him up you kiss him passionately.
“nate.” you exhale, licking your lips and lifting your head slightly to look at where you’re conjoined. his dick is coated with your juices, the slap of your thighs banging together.
“nathan.” you moan louder, throwing your head back and arching.
“you’re letting me fuck you so well.” he grunts when your walls clench around him. “you’re so pretty; i love you so much.”
your eyes widen in surprise. it could be the intensity of the moment, but that’s the first time he’s ever said those words. “i-i love you too.”
clenching again, your legs twitch with each movement of his hips. “i-i’m going to cum.”
he pecks your forehead. “go ahead, baby. you’re doing so good for me.”
you whimper, your orgasm flowing out of your pussy and onto his base. he fucks you a little more through your high, before pulling out and painting your stomach white.
whispering sweet nothings into your ear, he lays on top of you, rubbing his hands all over your body. “i meant what i said, by the way. that i love you.”
you smile, blushing at the same time. “so did i.”
that’s when you realized your relationship will only blossom from here, all because of this goddamn treehouse.

I started this short bowuigi little mermaid au thing a few days ago as a little something to help me feel better cause my depression was basically being like ‘hey, wanna feel ten times worse than usual?’ It was to be a short little thing to self-indulge with, YET IT SOMEHOW IS OVER 5K WORDS, FUCKING HOW?!?!?!?!? Anyways, enjoy. (Edit, to the person who pointed out that Junior said Luigi's name before Bowser finds out, you're a real one and I just fixed it thanks xx).
In the surface land, Bowser is trying to get Princess Peach to marry him because he sees her as the ‘perfect bride’ for him to be happy but she’s not having it.
“Isn’t she lovely Kamek, her golden hair, the way she glides when she moves. Plus, she would be a perfect mother for Junior!”
“Sire, she threw a shoe at your head the last time you proposed to her.”
“…and?”
“Seriously Papa?”
Yeah, Kamek and Junior are starting to get sick of it.
Meanwhile, in the ocean, Mario and Luigi’s parents rule the seven seas. While Mario is more adventurous and outgoing, Luigi is more content to stay under the sea (you’re allowed to hate me for that terrible pun).
See, unlike Ariel, Luigi is deathly afraid of the surface land as he’s heard about all about the terrifying Bowser and what he’s willing to do to get what he wants to he wants to stay as far as possible from there.
“There’s nothing to be scared of Luigi, I’d be able to keep you safe if we were ever near the surface.”
“N-no way! W-what if B-Bowser’s there a-an-d-d gets mad a-at us f-or t-t-t-trespassing! I-I’ll be fine here with Ma and Pa.”
(Luigi also has long hair cause I’m a sucker for long-haired Luigi.)
Que King Boo, a ghostly underwater sea monster who wants to take over both the land and sea but isn’t powerful enough to do so. He knows that Luigi means a lot to his family, so he decides to pull a devious trick to distract them from their duties so he can take over the throne.
“Well, well, well, despite how much of a cowardly shrimp he is, this little prince could be of use to me.”
He uses Polterpup (a ghost sea-lion pup that is able to turn into a dog if he goes to the surface land) to distract Luigi, making him think that a dog had fallen into the sea and needs help. Luigi follows the sound of the distressed barking, hoping to help the innocent animal when suddenly, he’s captured by Boo’s minions and with the limited power that he has, he uses it to turn Luigi into a human to make him unable to return home. That way, while Luigi’s family will be looking for their son, he can try and take over the underwater kingdom and use that power to take over the surface land. Just to make sure that Luigi doesn’t tell anyone, King Boo steals Luigi’s voice and sends him to the edge of the Darklands.
“Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! Try going home and telling your mommy and daddy about this one princey! Oh wait, you can’t!”
However, since King Boo’s powers are still weak there is a way that the spell can be reserved so he purposely neglects to tell Luigi that the spell can be broken with true love’s kiss.
Luigi is distraught and terrified, already afraid of the surface land and is now forced to live there with no way of being able to ask for help.
Feeling guilty, Polterpup decides to help Luigi get used to his human legs and brings him a rag from a ship to help make into some makeshift clothes.
Meanwhile, Bowser and Junior are minding their own business at the shore of the Darklands when suddenly, Junior sees an unfamiliar human struggling to stand on his own two feet.
“Look Dad! There’s a human, like Peach!”
He gets a bit over excited and runs from his dad to go see Luigi.
Luigi, still frightened and wary of surface creatures (and the fact that this is Bowser’s son! So, if the king sees him with Junior, he could burn him to a crisp!) he gets spooked easily by the child and fumbles his way onto a rock. Polterpup stands in front of Luigi to create some distance with the overzealous child. Eventually, Bowser makes his way over to see what all the fuss is about.
“Junior, what have I told you about running off?!”
“But look Papa, it’s another human! I’ve never seen another human before apart from Peach!”
Bowser suddenly notices Luigi, who ducks behind Polterpup, trying to hide as much of himself as he can.
Bowser is taken aback, like Junior, Peach is the only human he’s seen so he’s never had the chance to formally get to know another one. He sees that the human is a bit skittish, so he tries to be as unintimidating as possible.
“Uh, hey there, sorry about Junior, he has the tendency to get overexcited sometimes.”
“Hey!”
Luigi is still unsure; he’s only ever heard tales about how the king of the koopas was able to be rid of his enemies just with one swipe of his claw. So, seeing him up close makes him want to piss himself.
Bowser can see that the human is still nervous, though he’s a little bit offended, he can’t really blame the human for being scared.
“Did you, uh, get in a shipwreck? Cause I can see that the only thing you’re dressed in is a sail.”
Luigi finally peaks his head out and nods a little bit, wondering why the koopa hasn’t done anything to him yet. Junior is suddenly asking him a lot of questions.
“Woah, you got in a shipwreck?! That’s so cool! Was there tons of thunder and lightning?! Did your ship light on fire?! Your dog is so cool! Is he a ghost?!”
Startled again, Luigi nearly falls off the rock until Bowser catches him. Luigi suddenly starts trembling both from fear and the cold. The king notices this and tries to ask him if he’s alright to try and loosen the tension, but the human is silent.
“What’s wrong? Can’t talk or something?”
He says that sarcastically and laughs a little to try and make the human do so as well, but he takes one look in the human’s eyes and realises that he actually can’t.
“Oh, I see.”
Luigi is hugging himself at this point, wanting to run and hide but he was getting colder and colder by the minute. Bowser then decides to take the human back to the castle to get him warmed up and a little bit less scared.
“Don’t worry, Kamek and Kammy will know how to help you. You’ll be feeling better soon.”
That gets Luigi to look up at the king with curiosity as Bowser carries him back to the castle with Junior and Polterpup by his side. The great ferocious king was holding him ever so gently and promising to help him, he doesn’t know how to feel at this point.
As soon as Kamek and Kammy see Luigi shivering and drenched, they are instantly ‘grandparents mode activated. They take Luigi from Bowser and lead the human into bathroom, (Bowser totally didn’t want to carry him there) Kamek makes him tea and gives Luigi a few biscuits while Kammy is drawing a warm bubble bath for him.
“Here you are now, its not much but it will help fill and warm you up a little bit.”
Luigi has never tasted land food before; he finds it to be quite nice. He even enjoys the bath, letting the water heat him up and blowing on the bubbles. Kammy finds the site adorable.
“The poor thing, washing up from a shipwreck must’ve been so terrifying for you, especially if you heard about the reputation of the Darklands. Don’t worry, we just want to help you feel better and feel comfortable here.”
Kamek comes into the room holding a few dresses and suits, asking the human which one he’d like to wear for dinner. Although Luigi didn’t need to wear clothes as a mermaid, he does know that land creatures wear them all the time. He instantly chooses one of the dresses (because gender norms don’t exist, and Luigi is allowed to wear whatever the fuck he wants!)
Later, Kammy is helping Luigi get changed while Kamek, Junior and Bowser are in the dining room talking about Peach again.
“All I’m saying sire is that it might be due time to stop pursuing the princess. She had already disagreed to your other proposals, and I don’t see her agreeing any time soon.”
“I can’t just give up on her Kamek, Peach makes me feel things that I’ve never felt for anyone. I will marry her, one day.”
As if right on time, Kammy and Luigi are there, the former ushering in the shy man.
“Don’t be so nervous darling, you look lovely!”
Luigi then steps into the room, wearing a beautiful green dress (a green version of Ariel’s pink dress) with Polterpup by his side to keep him company.
Bowser is starstruck, he’s never seen a human look this beautiful before.
“Y-you look amazing.”
Luigi blushes, still nervous but the compliment gives him butterflies.
“Come sit next to me human!”
Junior takes his hand and leads him next to his seat, which happens to also be next to Bowser’s at the head of the table. To try and take his mind off the fact that he’s sitting next to Bowser, Luigi starts focusing on the plates and cutlery, he’s never really seen that many human artefacts before so it’s all so intriguing to him (expect when Mario brings back some from his adventures, but he doesn’t really know what they are either.)
Bowser becomes amused at Luigi’s curiosity for the simple objects he had, his appreciation for things that seem to be mundane gives him a swell of pride.
“I guess my silverware is kinda nice, isn’t it?”
Luigi immediately puts the fork don’t and hides under his hair, afraid that he might have disrespected the king, but Bowser is quick to reassure him that he doesn’t mind.
“It’s just that no one else I know is fascinated by these types of things, so its nice to see someone that it.”
Luigi peers out from his hair, a small smile forming from the king’s praise. Kamek picks up on the tension and decides to do some *matchmaking*.
 “Since our guest will be staying for a while, perhaps we should help him feel more comfortable with a tour of the kingdom…Bowser?”
“Papa, are you listening?”
Bowser breaks out of his trance, not even realising he was staring at the human. He couldn’t help it; he’s not seen that many and this one was just so fascinating.
“Ah, yes, a tour sounds great! If you would like one?”
Luigi thinks for a bit and nods. If he was wrong about the king, then maybe he was wrong about the kingdom and surface land and should give it a chance.
Kamek nods at that, pleased with his work. Kammy shoots him a thumbs up for his work.
Later, while Luigi is getting ready for bed, he watches Bowser with Junior as they play in the courtyard. Bowser notices him watching and waves at him. Embarrassed that he was caught, Luigi shyly waves back and backs away from the balcony. He’s wearing a cotton nightgown that Kammy had given him, as well as a glass of water from Kamek in case he gets thirsty during the night. This is also his first time laying in a bed, he’s never felt anything so soft in his life! He falls asleep as soon as he puts his head on the pillow, feeling a bit more hopeful after today.
Back in the ocean, Mario and his family are frantically searching for his brother, terrified that something bad happened to him. He decides to go to the surface land, specifically from the Mushroom Kingdom, and ask their princess for help and if he’s washed up there. It also helps that he’s heard so much about her kindness and beauty and…wake up Mario, focus on the mission at hand.
Back on the surface lands, Bowser takes Luigi on a tour of his kingdom, Polterpup by his feet through the all thing. At first, Luigi is still a bit unsure about the koopas, but soon he becomes a bit more curious. He goes up to some of the food stand giving away free sample and decides to try a little bit of fruit, it’s a bit tangy but still pretty good. He even sees a puppet show for the first time, not knowing how the little puppets are moving, he pulls one of a koopa’s hand, fascinated with how it works. A few koopa children then come up to him and ask to do his hair, having never seen another human before with his like his. He agrees and let the children tie up his hair in a French braid along with a few faux white flowers to go with the new dress he’s wearing. Bowser is watching from afar, his jaw dropping when Luigi’s hairstyle is revealed, his heart skipping a beat when Luigi does a twirl.
“Wow, you…you look beautiful greenie.”
Luigi blushes at the compliment.
The two suddenly hear music and see a few performers starting to play on their instruments as koopas, goombas and shy guys join in. Bowser takes Luigi’s hand and asks him to dance, the man nods his head, feeling a bit more at ease with the king now.
Soon the two join the crowd, laughing and having the time of their lives as they dance away to the music, Polterpup occasionally runs through some of the koopas legs.
When it ends, Bowser guides Luigi to a hidden river, the only place with water in the Darklands (apart from the shore). They share a little boat ride together as they share some of the food they bought at the market, while Polterpup takes a nap. Bowser then remembers that despite the time they shared together, he still doesn’t even know Luigi’s name.
“I feel terrible not knowing your name, and we don’t have anything that you can write with…Oh I know, how about I go down the alphabet and you pick out the letters of your name?”
Luigi nods and though it takes a while, the king manages to spell out his name.
“Luigi huh? A beautiful name for a beautiful human.”
Its Luigi’s turn for his heart to skip a beat. All his life he’d heard about the koopa kingdom and their dreaded king, now it turns out that he’s actually a gentleman who’s been showing him nothing but respect. Ever since this man washed up at his kingdom, Bowser has been feeling things that he’s never felt for anyone. Flustered, vulnerable and a need to protect and love. He’s never even felt this for Peach. The two start to lean in when their boat suddenly tips over, the two falling out. Bowser is quick to pick up Luigi, who begins to wring out his dress while Polterpup begins to shake his non-existent coat. As Bowser carries Luigi back as Polterpup floats beside them, the two fail to see two boos that were the ones who knocked over their boat.
Back in his lair, King Boo is seething!
“That blasted little shrimp! At this rate, these two will end up snogging all over the place and my plans will be ruined!”
He decides to go to his last resort, a mind control crown that he had hoped to use on one of the rulers to conquer the sea and surface, however this crown also held many of his other spells (including Luigi’s) and he wasn’t strong enough to use it more than once to use a spell as powerful as mind control. It was always extremely fragile, though he would still have some power, if it broke then all of his previous spells from over the years would be released, so he held it off for as long as he could, and it seems that now he has no other choice.
Meanwhile, Mario has finally arrived at the Mushroom Kingdom, hoping to find help with the princess. She’s just as beautiful in the rumours he’s heard about her. The princess is shocked to find an adorable red merman in a river near her palace, but she can’t deny his plea for help when he looked just so sweet.
“My brother, he’s gone missing! Is there any chance he’s been around here lately?”
“I’m sorry, you’re the only mer-person we’ve seen here. But don’t worry, we’ll keep a look out and help you find him!”
“Really?! Thank you, princess!”
“Y-you’re welcome.”
Back at the Darklands, Bowser is thinking about his new feelings for Luigi, not knowing if he should act on them since he didn’t want to betray his love for Peach. Kamek, fed up at this point, goes up to give Bowser his thoughts on the matter.
“If I may say sire, some people spend most of their time chasing after treasure on a map that leads them in circles, that they neglect that the diamond in the rough is right in front of them. Just a thought from a silly old koopa.”
As Kamek leaves, Bowser ponders over his surrogate father’s words. For years he’s yearned for Peach so the point that he became blinded by what he thought he wanted and put her on a pedestal. Now, there’s someone that doesn’t see him as a monster and might love him back. He makes his decision and starts to go to Luigi to tell him how he feels when he suddenly feels a weight on his head, and everything goes dark.
The next morning, Luigi wakes up feeling more refreshed and happier than he has since he first turned human. He’s been thinking all night about the maybe-kiss that he and Bowser were about to share and had been contemplating his feelings on the matter. He soon found himself realising that he would mind kissing Bowser, in fact, he would really like to kiss him and spend every day with him, Junior, Kammy and Kamek. Besides, there was nothing stopping him from travelling to see his brother and family, maybe it could all work out? He fell asleep last night with a smile on his face and butterflies in his stomach.
He’s about to run down the stairs to meet Bowser when he hides behind a pillar when he sees the king speaking with Kamek, wearing a strange crown.
“Y-your highness, are you sure this is the best idea?”
“Peach castle is currently unprotected; it would be a good opportunity to strike and take her as my bride.”
“I see that, but after the last few days and our past with the Mushroom Kingdom, shouldn’t we think this through a little bit and-”
“-It has always been my intention to make Peach mine, no matter what and I won’t let anyone get in my way. Especially some scrawny human who washed up at my sure. Once the invasion is complete, the wedding will start immediately.”
“…very well sire.”
Luigi, heartbroken and betrayed, flees to his room, not knowing that King Boo was there the whole having used his ghostly-ness to remain invisible while controlling Bowser with the crown.
As Bowser takes off with his army and airship, Luigi stays behind at the port to cry as Polterpup tries to comfort him, having to face the truth that he was right in the first place, Bowser was just a heartless monster.
Junior is on the airship per his father’s orders to be at the wedding. He searches for his dad, wondering why he had the sudden change of heart about Luigi and his invasion. He creaks open the door to his father’s room when he sees King Boo in Bowser’s mirror, cackling to himself at the fact that his plans are nearly complete.
Realising his dad is being mind controlled by the strange ghost thing, he makes his way down to the clown cars and sneaks away in his own small one to get to Luigi as quickly as possible.
The Mushroom Kingdom is taken aback when Bowser suddenly arrives, not fully prepared for battle since he would usually leave some type of indication that he was coming, but here, he was just blasting through with every intention of not leaving until he gets what he wants. Mario wants to help but Peach tells him to stay hidden. Unable to just do nothing, Mario rushed as fast as he can to get back home to get his father.
As soon as Peach sees Bowser, there’s something different about his atmosphere, something way more menacing and demanding. As usual, he wants Peach to marry him, but this time he doesn’t ask.
“One way or another, you will marry me Peach and we’ll watch your kingdom turn to ash.”
“You’re not even going to bargain.”
“It’s not like you can do anything about it.”
A pit forms in Peach’s stomach, something’s wrong, very wrong.
Junior makes it back to, running to the sobbing man as fast as he can.
“Luigi! Luigi! There’s some weird ghost thing that was in my dad’s mirror! I think that’s why he’s attacking the Mushroom Kingdom so soon! What do we do?!”
Luigi’s eyes widen in horror. King Boo! He had to be behind all this. Without any second thoughts, Luigi climbs in Junior’s clown car, along with Polterpup, and the two head to the Mushroom Kingdom as fast as they can.
While Bowser/Boo is adamant about the wedding, the koopas there are a little less comfortable about it due to how strange and intimidating the king was acting. As the service starts, Peach pulls out an ice flower from her bouquet and attacks Bowser, she lands a few hits, but Bowser uses his fire to melt the ice. Peach keeps trying to fight though, at least to distract him while she thinks of a plan. The koopas also help, agreeing that their King was not himself and didn’t want anyone in the Mushroom Kingdom getting severely injured.
Luigi finally arrives with Junior, jumps out of the vehicle and lands on Bowser’s shoulders while he’s fighting Peach. Seeing a crown that wasn’t on Bowser’s head before, Luigi grabs it and smashes it to the ground, falling off Bowser’s shoulder from the impact of the throw.
Suddenly, Bowser sees himself at the Mushroom Kingdom, not knowing how he got there since the last place he remembered being was back home. Princess Peach and the koopas stop, sensing that Bowser’s atmosphere was back to normal as he looks towards Luigi.
“Luigi, are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m fine…wait…I can talk!”
“You can finally speak again!”
“My voice its back!”
“I don’t understand, what’s happening?”
“It’s King Boo, he-aahhh!”
Before he can get another word out, there’s a sharp pain in his legs. He fells his bones bending and breaking in the most painful way and King Boo suddenly appears, turning him back into a merman before he can get another word out. Luigi looks to Bowser, afraid of what he’ll think of the man once he realises what he really is. But Bowser is too wrapped up in shock of what its happening and worry for the man that he loves.
King Boo grabs Luigi and drags him back into the ocean, the latter screaming for Bowser as the koopa tries to grab him as Luigi is forced back into the water, Polterpup chasing after his new owner. The king turns to Princess Peach.
“Princess, I know this may be confusing, but I really need your help, please, I love him!”
“Don’t worry, I think I might know his brother and what’s going on.”
Back in the ocean, Luigi is struggling against King Boo, trying to escape his grasp but somehow, the ghost’s grip is tighter than he though. Polterpup tries to fight his old master but a few Boos that had been hiding easily grab him.
“Oh, don’t worry little shrimp, it ain’t you that I’m after.”
“KING BOO THAT IS ENOUGH!”
The pair stop when they see Luigi’s father, the King of the ocean along with Mario stop them in their path.
“Well, well, well. If it isn’t the red prince and the ruler of the seven seas.”
“Let my brother go!”
“No can do princey, precious little Lulu is all mine until you give me what I want.”
Luigi’s father growls at that.
“My son does not belong to you!”
He goes to use his magical trident, but a few boos grab Luigi and use some type of electricity on him, making the youngest prince scream out in pain.
“You see, the thing is your majesty, one wrong move and your precious little boy won’t be, how do I put this? Part of your world anymore.” (I am so sorry for that awful pun.)
The sea king was at a loss, he knew he would be putting everyone at risk by handing the trident and the throne to this made ghost but…he couldn’t lose his youngest son, from the corner of his eye, he could see Mario agree. He hands the trident over to King Boo, begging him not to hurt his son. With a mad gleam in his eye, he grabs the trident and lets Luigi go. To the green merman’s horror, the poltergeist points the artifact to his father and brother, watching in devastation as he turns them into dust.
With a strangled scream, he goes to attack King Boo, though surprised at Luigi’s reaction, manages to throw him to the ground. He’s about to use the trident on him when he suddenly feels something hit him. He looks up to see Bowser under the water, who had thrown a spear at him and raises the trident to him. In a moment of panic, Luigi grabs King Boo, making him point the trident at his boos instead and disintegrates them. Not wanting to witness King Boo’s anger, Luigi swims up to Bowser and guides him above the water, not witnessing the Boo’s fury with his new powers below him.
The koopa and merman reach the surface of the water, Bowser trying to reach out to Luigi.
“Bowser you have to go, now! Before King Boo gets you!”
“No, I’m not leaving you behind again!”
They feel a rumbling all around them. Suddenly, King Boo rises from the sea as a giant with the two on his head, cackling like a mad man. Bowser and Luigi jump back into the water, trying to escape until King Boo starts to form a whirlpool, separating them. Luigi falls into the whirlpool, landing at the bottom as Polterpup rushes over to him as King Boo taunts him.
Bowser is still paddling in the water, trying to get to Luigi when a ship comes up beside it. Inside was Princess Peach, some toads, koopas and Kamek. They throw a rope down to Bowser and help him up. Kamek looks to the king.
“I used my magic to help steer that boat but I’m barely holding on! I need you to guide the bowsprit and drive it into that mad boo!”
“But’s a ghost, he’s already dead!”
“I’ve managed to enchant so that I can trap him in this!”
Kamek holds up a pale purple gem, sparkling with some type of magic that the magikoopa used. Princess Peach then speaks up.
“I’m managing the sails while the toads and koopas are defending us! Bowser, are you able to guide the ship!”
“You can count on me Princess, take this as the beginning of a massive apology to you!”
Peach nods and everyone gets to work. King Boo is shooting at Luigi in the whirlpool, the merman trying to dodge as much as he can but knows that he is not strong enough to do anything. Enraged by what the Boo is doing to his love, Bowser drives the bowsprit into King Boo. The poltergeist screams with both pain and fear, knowing that if he can feel that then somehow, he has been defeated.
The seas calm down as the boo disappears into the gem. Bowser tries to look for Luigi, but the whirlpool is gone, and the merman is nowhere in sight. Kamek keeps him from jumping out as the princess guides the ship back to shore.
In the ocean, Luigi grabs the trident and rushes back over to where his father and brother were with Polterpup following him and sees the two have been returned to normal. Overjoyed, he hugs them both, all three of them crying now that Luigi is safe and home.
“I missed you so much Lu. I’m so sorry I wasn’t here when you went missing.”
“It’s okay Mario, I’m safe now, It’s okay.”
He gives the trident back to his father and the three mermen return home.
A few days later, Luigi is hiding behind a rock, Polterpup beside him as he watches Bowser from the shore of the Darklands, pining to see the merman again. Mario and his father watch from afar.
“You know, a while ago, Luigi would have fainted at the thought of going to the Darklands. Now, seeing how he looks at that koopa king, he’s gotten more braver than I ever imagined.”
“Peach told me that he jumped on Bowser’s shoulder’s just to get the crown off him.”
“Oh yes, how are you and that princess getting along?”
“Ah-I-wha-Dad!”
“I’m just teasing. Though, he hasn’t been truly himself since he came home.”
“I guess he left a part of himself since leaving the Darklands. After all, when you love someone, you give a piece of yourself to them, and in return, they grant you something even more freeing.”
“Then I guess there’s only one problem left.”
“And what’s that Dad?”
“…How much I’m going to miss him.” Mario raises an eyebrow in confusion for a moment before his father points his trident at Luigi.
Luigi feels a tingling sensation on his fins, looking down to see that there are no fins at all, his legs had returned! He turns to his father and brother, his smile beaming as the two nod to him.
Bowser is staring off into the distance, thinking about Luigi when he sees brown hair peeking out of the water. His heart stops when he sees Luigi emerging from the water in a sparkling green dress and his hair flowing in the wind. Bowser runs to him, picking him up and spinning him around in his arms and holds him as the two finally share a kiss.
A year later, the two are finally married on a giant ship, Luigi wearing a poofy wedding dress while Bowser is dressed in his finest suit. Luigi’s family and kingdom are watching from the ocean while toads and koopa finally come together as one. Princess Peach hugs Luigi, glad to have another human companion and blows a kiss to Mario in the ocean, who blushes at the gesture and waves back. Junior is also glad Luigi is back and is going to be his stepdad. He and Polterpup have also become close friends, the two playing together when they can. Kamek and Kammy are finally happy that Bowser has found love after all this time.
Mario asks his father to use to powers to lift him with the water to see his brother one more time. Luigi smiles softly and gives his brother a hug.
“Don’t cry big bro, I’ll see you after the honeymoon, you’re acting as if I’ll never see you again.”
“I’m sorry, its just, I’m so happy for you.”
“I love you, Mario.”
“I love you too Lu.”
He gives Bowser a menacing glare along the lines of ‘hurt my bro and I’ll end you’ before Peach comes over and kisses him on the cheek, making the red merman faint into the ocean. Luigi laughs at his brother’s antics as he waves goodbye to all the other mer-folk as the ship sails away to its next destination.
Bowser and Luigi give one another a soft look and share one more kiss.
The end.
You're allowed to yell at me for the shitty puns.
(Edit: also I love that you guys enjoyed it and you’re free to write something for this as it was only meant to be a drabble after having a bad day. As long as you credit and tag me, y’all can use this idea and write your own Bowuigi little mermaid fic ☺️)

Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Mario and Luigi approach the location of the burst pipe, Mario is taking large confident strides through the flood, looking stern and determined. Luigi, on the other hand, appears anxious, nervously clutching at the strap of the tool bag as he surveys the unfolding chaos before him.
The whole emergency department is all-hands-on-deck, but despite the scope of his problem Mario is completely confident. This is destiny after all!
“Ha ha, they’re not even looking in the right place!” When Mario says this, Luigi looks at him and smiles. He has full faith in his brother, but when Mario turns his back on the work crew and heads toward a nearby manhole, Luigi becomes confused.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His confusion grows when Mario lifts the manhole cover and creates a swirling whirlpool into the sewer system. Luigi glances rapidly back and forth between his brother and the vortex, desperately hoping that Mario isn’t thinking what he thinks he’s thinking…
“You are not seriously considering–” Mario doesn’t even let him finish the sentence. His attention is fixed, he is brimming with confidence and excitement– They’re finally going to prove themselves! They’re going to be heroes! They’re going to save Brooklyn! He hands off the crowbar and leaps into the manhole, much to Luigi’s distress.
Tumblr media
“Mario!” Luigi sounds completely exasperated. Nonetheless, after some anxious fidgeting to work up his courage, he holds his nose and leaps in, yelling in fear the whole way down.
Gonna take a moment to admire Luigi’s guts here. They’re plumbers, but it seems like most of Luigi’s experience is in residential plumbing, not commercial plumbing. If my sibling pulled a stunt like this, I would’ve just contacted the surrounding work crew, explained the situation, and asked for someone actually trained in sewer maintenance to follow my sibling underground and make sure they didn’t kill themselves, but Luigi my man... he is ride or die… he knows Mario has a plan, and has complete faith in him.
At the same time, Mario knows Luigi well enough to know he wouldn’t be far behind. When Luigi lands in the sewers Mario’s looking over his shoulder, waiting for him. Once his brother arrives Mario forges ahead, pointing to their destination: “We’ve got to get to that pressure valve!”
Tumblr media
“Mama Mia” I’m glad Luigi got at least one patented ‘Mama Mia’ in the film. I don’t know if this is just me… but he sounds kinda like Danny Wells’ Luigi from the Super Mario Brothers Super Show in his delivery. I wonder if that was intentional.
Unfortunately, their only immediate path to the valve is a long slender pipe, and without thought or hesitation Mario takes hold of it and begins shuffling across toward his target. Luigi– actually taking a moment to think this through– looks down and assesses the situation. The sewage pit below is vast and deadly. If they fell, it would be potentially fatal. And yet, he follows anyway.
Tumblr media
Okay, look. If I had enough faith in any of my siblings to follow them down a flooded manhole, this is where my sense of self-preservation would’ve fully kicked in. Mario didn’t even ask for Luigi to follow him across the pipe, Luigi didn’t even know if his tools were required complete this task! but he still keeps close behind his brother. “Luigi’s a coward.” Nah man, he just has a basic sense of self preservation and wears his heart on his sleeve, but at the end of the day that guy has proven he has serious guts, even before his big climactic stunt with the manhole cover at the end of the film.
It’s interesting to see Mario and Luigi’s different ways of traversing the pipe: Mario climbs across with smooth, efficient strides, one hand over the other. Luigi is slower, gripping and scooting his whole body along in spurts– it looks awkward, but it prioritizes maintaining firm grip, which is probably for the best since he still has the heavy load of tools hanging off of him.
Mario grabs the valve and tries to turn it, but ends up just popping it off like a loose-fitting lego piece. I don’t know wtf this accomplished. Who knows if what Mario did “Saved Brooklyn” or just broke things more, but long story short that pipe could not hold Mario and Luigi’s weight, and the two end up being flung through a (thankfully crumbling) brick wall below them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
L: “I knew saving Brooklyn was a bad idea…” M: “… C’mon.” Mario, despite being the second one to regain his senses, is the first one on his feet, and after surveying his surroundings his first goal is to help his brother up. Luigi, once standing, checks himself over to ensure he didn’t break damage anything in the fall. Mario, on the other hand, has had his attention stolen away by the large underground pipework he has accidentally stumbled upon. He is enamored, his adventurous nature sparking despite his recent brush with danger.
Luigi eventually comes around to a shared curiosity. Both brothers walk to the edge of a platform, looking over at the massive hidden pipe network below. Luigi carefully kicks a pebble over the edge, gauging just how deep it goes. Mario looks at his brother, and nods his head toward the nearby stairwell, silently asking him if he wants to go deeper.
Tumblr media
Luigi apparently agrees. All throughout their descent he makes no argument about going home, nor does he make any further mention of how dangerous their recent escapade was… he simply trails behind his brother and looks around, just as taken by the discovery as his sibling.
For most of the journey, Luigi lets Mario lead the way. There is only one time where he allows himself to get sidetracked… he glances off into one outward-facing tunnel, echoing with a strange whooshing sound.
Tumblr media
OKAY... I want to take a moment to discuss the change from the original concept art:
Tumblr media
It seems like the warp pipe was at one point going to be this big shiny mystical thing that screamed “I lead to a magical world.”
Tumblr media
Look at the way Luigi is putting his hand on his brother’s shoulder. It looks like Mario was going to test his luck again… once more forging ahead despite Luigi’s worries, inevitably getting them both isekaid. But as much as I find the concept visually interesting, I sort of like what they went with instead. We’ve seen enough to understand the dynamic: Mario has the “let’s-a-go” attitude, while Luigi is cautious, but has enough faith in his brother to follow him into perilous situations. But in the movie, Luigi… careful as he is… just happened to pause and look into one of the many hundreds of surrounding pipes... one that didn’t even look all that important or unusual. Though it was Mario’s brashness that brought them there, it was Luigi’s luck that sealed the deal. The inciting incident was a group effort– a combination of Mario’s zeal and Luigi’s uncanny ability to attract trouble.
The moment Mario and Luigi are distracted from each other, Luigi gets sucked away like a dust bunny in a vacuum commercial. Mario only hears a light clatter of a falling tool, but his radar immediately goes off. He turns around, and sure enough... his brother’s gone.
Tumblr media
“Luigi?” No response. He looks into the pipe where Luigi last stood. He climbs up into it, getting a little more anxious. “Weegie, are you in there?” The silence is getting to him. On the ground he sees a wrench. He picks it up and examines it, and recognizes it as the one from the tool kit Luigi was carrying... ... and Luigi is shown to be very careful about not losing any of their tools.
Mario calls his brother’s name again, this time louder and a bit more urgently. “Luigi!”
Suddenly, the wrench is sucked from his grip. Mario’s whole body shakes as he feels himself being pulled forward. Frightened, he stretches out his arms and legs, trying to maintain balance or find something to hold on to, but it’s no use. He is flung forward, head over heels, through the barrier of his own world into the open in-between dimension of glimmering pathways and glowing pipes.
Tumblr media
 When he regains his bearings, Mario’s terror turns into awe as he is overcome by the strange beauty of his surroundings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then he hears Luigi’s yelps of terror, and all of the magic is immediately replaced by worry. In the flow of the warp pipe Mario has found his balance, but Luigi is spiraling in every sense of the word, spinning around wildly just ahead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
M: “Luigi!” L: “Mario!” Mario wastes no time getting to his brother. He dives forward, arms outstretched to clasp Luigi’s hands, giving him some sort of center of gravity as they both hold tight to each other and spin in circles. Mario puts all his focus into calming Luigi down.
Tumblr media
M: “It’s all going to be okay!” L: “HOW IS THIS GOING TO BE OKAY!?” M: “I’m telling you, nothing can hurt us as long as we’re together!” You can tell by the look on Mario’s face that he believes every word. His confidence is infectious, and as usual Luigi can’t help but believe him. After all, he’s trusted him this far, and though they’ve had some bumps in the road things have always turned out in the end. They have each other’s backs. Wherever this leads, that’s all that matters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He smiles just as a darkness overtakes him. Luigi realizes something is wrong for a split second before he is violently yanked backwards, ripped out of his brother’s grip, and dragged unwillingly down a separate path. Both of them look terrified as they scramble fruitlessly to try and grab onto each other again. Luigi is once more out of balance, whirling about with redoubled fear as he falls into the most threatening looking warp pipe possible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mario panics. He tries to turn around... swim back, fight the current, get to his brother somehow! But it is all futile. There is no undoing what has just happened.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Nothing can hurt us as long as we’re together” But the universe had different plans.

Thinking lately about Peach and Mario’s relationship in my version where he’s mute, and how Luigi (who later grows to love Peach of course) is actually very hesitant at first. He tries not to let on too much, because he can see that Mario is totally enamored by her, but he’s also well aware that she’s a literal princess. She’s rich and powerful, and that has historically not led to great things, in his opinion. And he just has a general tendency to be more careful and naturally distrustful as a way to keep himself safe.
So he watches them very closely, tries to make sure his brother isn’t being taken advantage of. He knows that Mario can be pretty vulnerable (as much as he tries to hide it) and tends to look at things through rose colored glasses when he falls this hard. Luigi just doesn’t want his brother getting hurt. She seems nice and all, but still…
He’s never seen her pressure Mario to talk, at least. Sometimes his partners have tried that in the past, and Mario’s so in love that he tries it just for them, just to make them feel special, even though he secretly hates it. Because of course he’d do anything for the people he loves. Luigi wishes he’d just take care of himself for once instead.
Over time he starts seeing Peach use occasional sign language. Nothing too complex, just a word here or there, and it’s clunky and sometimes wrong, but part of him appreciates the effort. He’s still not sure, though. He still doesn’t like that she has enough power to kick them out of the kingdom whenever she wants. He still doesn’t like that she could break Mario’s heart.
But then one day the three of them are just hanging around the castle, and Peach says some offhand joke, and Mario just bursts into laughter. Loud, joyful belly laughs that echo in the corridor. Luigi just stares at him in awe, because he’s the only one who has ever heard Mario laugh like that. Everyone else gets a short, breathy sound that ends before it begins. Everyone else gets a fake laugh. Except Luigi.
And, apparently, except Peach.
That’s the moment he realizes that Peach is okay, because if Mario feels safe enough around her to let her in, then there must be something about her. Luigi trusts that Mario can make that decision to let someone in like that. And he starts seeing it, seeing her kindness and her genuine care, her brilliance, the way she looks at Mario like he’s everything. More than that, he can see the happiness in his brother, and he thinks that’s probably the best part of it. That, and getting to share his laughter with someone new.

“I’m here to kidnap the king,” Luigi says, leaning into the room where Mario’s busying himself with administration work.
“I was rather hoping you would.” Toadsworth has clearly been assisting him, but now he’s tidying up and sweeping papers aside as Mario’s head swivels back and forth between the two. Then Toadsworth is herding him towards the door and bidding him a restful afternoon as he’s led away. Luigi tries not to find Mario’s flustered confusion funny, but he can’t quite help himself.
That said, Mario looks awful. His eyes are dark and sunken in, his hair and mustache are messier than usual, and the stubble on his chin and cheeks is patchy, like he hurriedly started shaving days ago and then gave up halfway through. It’s not really surprising; Peach is due any day now, and he’s taken on her responsibilities while she’s on combination bed rest/baby watch.
Peach, in fact, is the one who sent Luigi to kidnap Mario. He spends all day fretting over royal duties he’s not as well-equipped to handle and then spends all night fretting over her. The only sleep he gets is when he gets still and his body forces him into rest, but he’s right back up as soon Peach makes the slightest movement or he hears any sound other than basic ambience. And Peach can’t even stand for very long without help at this point, so her efforts to get him to relax and rest have amounted to nothing.
Cue an elaborate plot that involves Luigi, Daisy, Toadette, and Toadsworth, because she knows four people is the absolute bare minimum it’ll take to get him to stop struggling.
So while Luigi leads his bedraggled brother to a spare bedroom, he lets him know that Toadsworth is covering all of his assignments (which he’s more adept at anyway), Daisy and Toadette are keeping Peach company and watching over her condition, they’ll let the brothers know if there’s any developments, and otherwise, Mario is going to sleep for the rest of the day at the absolute least.
Mario, predictably, resists. These are all his burdens to bear! He’s king consort! He’s Peach’s husband! He’s the father of her child! He can’t just put all of this off onto other people! And Luigi just hums and nods and lets him keep ranting while he coerces him into some nightclothes, because he’s sure talking is the only thing keeping him awake at this point.
Somehow, he finally gets Mario to lay down, and he climbs under the covers with him, both because it’s the best way to guarantee he won’t try sneaking out at some point and because he wants to let him know he’s there, and he can, in fact, give his burdens to other people. That alone does wonders. Comfortable, warm, and alone with his brother, Mario cracks and lets it all out: he’s scared, and he feels worthless. Not because he’s not as good a ruler as Peach, no, him being acting ruler is only temporary after all. But he feels like he’s failing her.
Luigi holds Mario and strokes his hair as he sleepily, almost tearfully pours his heart out. The final weeks of her pregnancy have taken a toll on Peach. She’s weakened, and she’s uncomfortable, and he can’t change that. He can help, but he can’t take away her pain. And what sort of a man does that make him? He’s supposed to protect her. He’s supposed to protect them. Surely he’ll make for one sorry father if his inability to help Peach is any indicator. He doesn’t care that he can’t sleep; she’s constantly tired too, so the least he can do is share in her suffering at least a little. He wishes he could suffer more. He would take it all from her if he could, but he can’t, and he’s convinced himself that that’s some kind of moral failing on his part.
Anyone listening could tell you his fears are nothing more than a combination of new parent jitters and sleep deprivation blowing otherwise rational concerns out of proportion, but that doesn’t make Luigi’s heart hurt any less for him. Mario’s top priority has always been the well-being of his loved ones. There’s a lot on his plate right now, and there’s absolutely no way he can manage it all alone, but that hasn’t stopped him from trying. Luigi wishes he would have stepped in sooner.
But for now, all Mario needs is a listening ear and many, many, many hours of sleep. Having given him the former, Luigi encourages him to take the latter, promising to help in any way he can once they wake up. Mario’s family is his family too, after all. And having used up the last of his energy lamenting his woes, Mario finally stops resisting.
“She’s so strong, Weegee,” he mutters, and Luigi can barely understand him. He’s already dozing off. “I need to be strong too.”
“Then sleep, stars’ sake.” Luigi grins and ruffles his hair. “You can’t take care of her unless you take care of yourself too.”
Mario makes a noise that might be an agreement or might be one final protest, and then he’s breathing deeply and evenly. He sleeps until the following afternoon, and Luigi stays by his side the whole while.

Keeping you warm
I'm really sorry this took so long, but at last, here's my answer to @keakruiser's suggestion from this post of Mario and Luigi in a cold context ❄
As I said here, this is based on Dream Team, so in case you haven't played that game, perhaps this could be a little spoilery for you! ⚠
It turned out longer than I expected, so I posted it on ao3 as well! I'll leave the link below in case you'd rather read it there:
I don't really think I should make this clear, but just in case: PLEASE DON'T TAG AS SHIP 🙅‍♀️
Without further ado, here it is! Hope you like it! 💖
Keeping you warm
TW: angst, near freezing
When the Dreambeats reach his ears, Mario is sorely tempted to let himself be carried away by it and sleep. After all, the climb up Mount Pajamaja has been long and torturous, so his body could use a rest. Besides, the cold has gotten so deep into his bones that all he wants to do is curl up and drift off to sleep.
Fortunately, Dreambert and Starlow are on hand to prevent him from succumbing to the sweet melody. Mario shakes his head with all his might. He knows they have to get out of here, away from the Dreambeats, Antasma, Bowser and his minions, but the sound is so enchanting…
No, he says to himself, stubbornly. He can’t fall asleep on top of an icy mountain and so close to his enemies. How could he take care of Luigi then?
Luigi! Where is he? Mario opens his eyes wide and turns his head, his brain dulled due to the Dreambeats. He feels a pang of relief as soon as he discovers his brother standing in front of him.
Although he looks increasingly sleepy.
“We have to get out of here!” Dreambert urges him.
Mario, unable to answer, only nods. Neither he nor Luigi can fight against Bowser and Antasma in these conditions: nodding off, about to faint, and the cold of the mountain getting to their bones. The Dreambeats are too intoxicating, and Mario has always known how easy it is for Luigi to fall asleep anywhere, an ability that has been enhanced since their arrival on Pi’illo Island. Mario himself is tempted again to give in and lie down to sleep, but he shakes his head once more, this time more violently, and stretches out his arms towards Luigi.
“Come on, Lu!” he manages to shout in his ear.
He reaches for his hands and begins to drag him along, and Luigi, though he doesn’t open his eyes, grabs hold of him and stumbles along beside him, his head wobbling on his shoulders. At this moment, that’s more than enough for Mario.
Clutching his sibling, Mario runs over the snow, straining to keep his eyes open, and focuses on the voices of Starlow and Dreambert, who keep talking to him in an attempt to help him stay awake. He’s so tired, and the Dreambeats are so appealing, that he struggles to pull Luigi along, but he can’t leave without him. Trying not to be overcome by the melody, he decides to start talking too, both to avoid giving in to sleep and to try and help Luigi not to surrender either.
When they’ve left Bowser and Antasma far behind, Dreambert begins to flutter in front of Mario to get his attention. He blinks to focus on the prince, increasingly exhausted from having to keep fighting drowsiness, but not willing to give up. The cold of the mountain is so piercing that it has caused him to start shivering.
“Mario,” Dreambert says, urgency permeating his voice. “You have to enter the dream world.”
“I-I can’t, Dreambert,” Mario mumbles, still walking.
“It’s the only way you won’t succumb to the Dreambeats! They are too powerful! They will reach every corner of the island…”
“But what about Luigi?” asks Mario, holding his sleepy brother tightly. “I can’t leave him behind, I can’t—”
“We shall find a place where he can sleep,” Dreambert suggests, “and you can hide in his dreams until the Dreambeats are over.”
“But I can’t leave him sleeping out in the open!”
Dreambert falls silent, unable to find an answer to his outburst. Mario, unwillingly, has stopped, exhausted, and observes the environment around them with his eyes half-closed and his consciousness threatening to fade away.
There is only snow. Piles and piles of snow on the promontories and slopes. There is nowhere to lay Luigi down and protect him from the cold while he sleeps. And Mario won’t go to the dream world in such conditions.
Then, to his surprise, he notices that Luigi digs his fingers into his palms, clinging to him. When Mario turns to look at him, he meets the tired gaze of his brother, who is trying his best to give him a reassuring smile.
“Mario,” he murmurs, and it seems to take a tremendous effort for him to speak. “I’ll be fine. You know… I can sleep anywhere.”
“But Lu…” Mario begins to protest faintly.
“Let me lie down,” Luigi asks him, and watches him as intensely as he is capable of given his sleepy state, “and enter my dreams. Get to safety.”
Something breaks inside Mario at the worried look his sibling gives him. His heart fills with tenderness, moved as he takes in the fact that Luigi is trying to protect him, more concerned about Mario’s welfare than his own.
And Mario understands and knows all too well this readiness to put the needs of others before his own. After all, it’s something he does every single day with Luigi.
He doesn’t want to leave him sleeping in the snow and cold, exposed to the elements, but he’s more urged to make that worried expression disappear from Luigi’s eyes. He appreciates that his brother cares and watches over him, but that is Mario’s job, as he’s the older of the two. Besides, he’s too cold and sleepy to argue anymore, and if he doesn’t make up his mind soon, he knows they’ll both eventually be dragged by the hypnotic beat of the melody.
So, much to his dismay, he nods.
Luigi smiles, satisfied, and his grip on Mario’s palms relaxes. His eyes close again, but Mario doesn’t let go: he holds Luigi’s arms as firmly as he can and leans in as his little brother drops to the frozen ground. Dreambert rushes to get under his head, and Mario, fighting sleep, makes sure his sibling is as comfortable as possible, before looking up at the portal that has opened above Luigi’s head. He’d like to have more time, he’d like to leave a lit fire next to Luigi, but he has no firewood, and the Dreambeats won’t allow him to try and find another solution.
So, with no other options, Mario jumps.
———————————————
He has taken too long to return.
Mario knows it even before he sets foot on the snow. The sky has darkened, covered with storm clouds from which small flakes have begun to fall, and the temperatures have dropped drastically, as if the cold had sharp teeth that are digging viciously into his flesh. Mario hugs himself with a snort as he curses himself for his tardiness.
But there was nothing he could do. The portal closed. He had to climb Mount Pajamaja again, this time in Luigi’s sleep, and to make matters worse, the mountain itself, turned into a giant active volcano, attacked him shortly after he reached the top.
Fortunately, Dreamy Luigi and his many copies were there. By joining forces, they created Giant Luigi again, and he unhesitatingly defended Mario from the volcano’s attack and then confronted it, displaying some strength and bravery that made Mario proud. Not because he didn’t know that Luigi had such abilities, but out of sheer joy and excitement at having been able to see his adored little brother making an impression in combat again.
Thank God that’s all behind him now. Mario smiles softly as he recalls the quick embrace he has shared with Dreamy Luigi a second after the portal reopened above their heads.
“It’s been a pleasure working with you again,” he told him, patting his back. “You’re just as strong and brave as the real-world you – never forget that!”
He feels a pleasant warmth inside as he remembers the blush that covered Dreamy Luigi’s cheeks, and he watched Mario with a shy smile as they said goodbye. Mario sighs, touched, and begins to turn to look for the real version of his sibling, eager to give him a big hug as well.
He’s surprised to realize that he has to look down to find him.
And, all of a sudden, his heart breaks.
Luigi usually wakes up as soon as the portal to the dream world closes, but this time, he’s still sound asleep. He remains very still, almost like a statue, lying on the snow in the place where, hours ago, he fell down, defeated by the Dreambeats. Around him, an icy blanket has accumulated so much that it has even buried part of his arms and legs, and on his eyelashes and moustache, Mario discovers traces of frost.
But what causes Mario’s heart to skip a beat is that Luigi’s skin appears bluish, and his chest rises and falls very slowly, as if he’s having trouble getting air into his lungs.
“Lu!”
Mario drops down beside him and begins to hurriedly remove the snow from his body in anguish. He leans over Luigi’s face and also removes the frost from his facial hair with his fingertips, and a gasp escapes from his throat as he feels, under his gloves, the coldness on Luigi’s skin.
“Luigi,” Mario calls in a strangled voice. “Luigi!”
He holds his head carefully and lifts it up to slip an arm underneath. He pulls Luigi to his chest and draws the rest of his body closer with his free hand, and then begins to rub Luigi’s arms and legs frantically to warm him up. Mario cradles his little brother, holding him close, and continues to call out to him in broken whispers, but Luigi doesn’t respond.
Mario tries to concentrate. His Firebrand beats within him, at his fingertips. All he has to do is focus and summon it, but the cold has penetrated him so deeply that he feels unable to even make a tiny flame sprout. He feels as if the blood in his veins has frozen, and he has no idea how to make it warm again. And the fact that it’s started to snow is not helping either.
But he has to do it. He has to get fire to emerge from his palms, at least a few small sparks, or he won’t be able to help Luigi warm up. He should have refused to let his little brother sleep in the snow, he should have kept dragging him down the mountain, to a place less icy than the summit of Mount Pajamaja.
He should have taken better care of Luigi. He looks at his unconscious face, at his bluish skin, and feels a pang of guilt prickling his heart. What kind of big brother is he that he’s not capable of keeping his adored little sibling safe and warm?
Then, in front of him, Dreambert, having left his pillow form behind, takes off his cloak and hastens to place it on Luigi, who ends up almost entirely covered except for his feet and head. Mario, in the midst of the hysteria that dominates him, gives the prince a thankful look, and Dreambert nods gravely.
The cloak also covers Mario’s hands, which is of invaluable help to him at the moment. He’s still extremely cold, his teeth are still chattering, but at least his hands, with which he’s been rubbing Luigi’s arms and back, are starting to heat up.
Until, at last, the fire.
It’s not much, just a tiny spark that warms his palms, but Mario doesn’t ask for more right now. Still cradling Luigi against him, he begins to apply the warmth of his hands all over his body to combat the iciness that envelops his little brother. Slowly, Mario makes sure to warm Luigi’s arms and back through gentle massages. He removes one hand from under the cloak, being careful not to uncover his sibling, and brings it first to Luigi’s legs and then to his chest, where, fortunately, he can clearly perceive Luigi’s heartbeat.
Finally, Mario leads his fingers to his brother’s sleeping face. Even though his skin is still bluish, Mario thinks he sees that, little by little, the color is returning to Luigi’s cold cheeks. Or perhaps it is his eagerness to save Luigi that deceives him.
However, after a few seconds heating his sibling’s cheeks and forehead, Mario notices that he’s breathing more deeply. With a gasp, Luigi shrinks down and snuggles his body against his, seeking his warmth, and clutches the denim of Mario’s overalls with his trembling fingers underneath the cape. Mario is overcome by an immense wave of relief and tightens his grip around Luigi’s shoulders. Snowflakes fall relentlessly around them.
“Lu?” he calls out to him in a whisper, still warming him with both hands.
Luigi’s eyelids flutter for a second before parting, barely a slit. But Mario needs no more: when his little brother’s blue eyes return his gaze, his heart is whole again.
“M-M-Mario?” Luigi mumbles, stuttering because of the cold that makes him shiver.
He pulls himself tighter against him, snuggling under the cloak. Mario, relieved, holds him tightly, cradling him gently.
“My God, Luigi,” he murmurs, resting his chin on the crown of his sibling’s head and pressing him gently against his chest. “I’m not letting you sleep out in the open again, do you hear me?”
Luigi twists the fabric of his overalls in his fingers but lets out a chuckle.
“I-I-I’m f-f-fine,” he assures Mario. “I-it’s just… a b-bit c-c-cool.”
In spite of himself, Mario can’t help but laugh. When he looks down, he finds Luigi giving him a smile, although it falters a bit due to the almost frozen state his brother is in.
“Just a bit cool, huh?” he repeats, trying to play along.
His hands don’t stop emitting heat. Mario makes sure to move one up and down Luigi’s arms and bring the other to his legs, his chest, his face, unwilling to let the cold spread through his brother’s body again. He reaches for Luigi’s other hand through the cloth and clasps it tightly, using the bond between their fingers to give him some more warmth. Luigi closes his eyes, cowering against him, and his breathing begins, little by little, to become more stable and rhythmic. Mario does not rest until he sees that, this time, Luigi’s cheeks have recovered their usual color, and his sibling gives him a weak smile of gratitude when he notices the concern with which Mario observes him.
“I-I’m ok-kay,” he insists, although he can’t stop stammering. “R-really. I hardly… feel the c-cold anym-more.”
Mario is well aware that, as with his little joke, Luigi is only trying to reassure him, and his heart immediately fills with tenderness.
“Of course you’re fine,” he replies, trying to show an assurance that he doesn’t really feel. “Did you think I was going to let the cold just take you away?”
Luigi laughs softly, still snuggled against him.
“If I could, I’d punch it right in the face,” Mario adds, determined.
“Oh, I-I know,” Luigi affirms. “It d-doesn't stand a chance against y-you.”
Mario’s heart warms at his little brother’s blind faith in him. He gives his hair a quick caress before continuing to use his Firebrand to keep his cheeks warm.
“Or against you,” he replies, for his faith in his dear sibling is just as immeasurable, “especially if you could become a giant here too.”
At that, Luigi’s eyes snap open and he looks at Mario in surprise. The blush soon begins to invade his cheeks, which is definitely a good sign, and Mario, still using his power to provide him heat, lets out a small laugh, touched.
“You saved me, Lu,” he says, his voice full of sweetness. “You were amazing, just like in the desert.”
“Oh.” Luigi looks down shyly but doesn’t turn away from him. “I-I have the slight impression t-that you’ve already t-told me that,” he mumbles with a chuckle.
“I told your dream self, but I had to tell you too.”
Mario gives him another squeeze, which makes Luigi press himself more tightly against him, his head resting on his big brother’s chest. For a few seconds, both are silent, Mario using his Firebrand to warm him up, Luigi recovering little by little. Near them, giving them some space, Starlow and Dreambert wait, silently, for them to decide to get going again.
“Can you get up, Lu?” Mario asks after a few minutes.
Luigi nods decisively. Mario holds him firmly and Luigi clings to him to stand up, Dreambert’s cape still covering him. Mario grabs his brother and rubs his arms, looking him in the face to make sure that, within his means, Luigi is okay. He is better. His face still appears pale and tired, and his legs are a little wobbly, but he’s fine.
He’s not going to freeze to death because of Mario.
“Come on,” he says, wrapping an arm around Luigi’s shoulders, and starts walking to encourage him to go with him. “Let’s get out of this damned place.”
Luigi nods, wrapped in Dreambert’s cloak, and presses his body a little against Mario to seek his warmth before he starts walking. Mario holds him close and keeps using his fire to make sure the cold doesn’t get to his brother again. Luigi moves slowly, each step a tremendous effort, but Mario, even though he’s eager to leave that icy place and the soft snowfall that keeps falling behind, does not rush him. He adapts to his pace, and they descend together, Dreambert and Starlow floating behind them.
They slowly notice that there’s less and less snow around them, and that the light snowfall is gradually subsiding. The darkness draws on, relentlessly, and Mario does not hesitate to conjure a ball of fire in his free hand to light their way. The instant he does so, he realizes, surprised, that the fire has obeyed him immediately, contrary to what happened to him at the summit. He smiles, as this is undoubtedly a good sign.
He does not stop moving until there’s no longer any trace of the icy mantle that almost buried down his beloved sibling. Noticing a small cave formed in the mountain wall they are descending, Mario nods, satisfied, and leads Luigi there.
“Do you think you can find any firewood around here?” he asks Starlow and Dreambert.
“Trees are not abundant on Mount Pajamaja,” the prince replies gravely, “but we will try.”
“I’m sure we’ll find some,” Starlow assures them with a wink.
They set off in opposite directions, and Mario continues to lead Luigi into the cave. He illuminates it with his fire before entering it, but when he sees that it’s more like a small opening with little depth, he calms down and makes Luigi sit down. His sibling obeys without protest and Mario suddenly thinks that Luigi must be feeling just as tired as he is, or maybe even more so. After all, not only has he been exposed to the low temperatures for an extended period of time, but in his dreams, he was helping Mario climb the mountain and taking his giant form to protect him from the active volcano.
Yes, Luigi must be exhausted.
And Mario is going to ensure he gets the rest he deserves.
He adjusts Dreambert’s cape over Luigi’s shoulders and makes sure it covers him well, and Luigi smiles at his care, touched.
“Are you all right, Luigi?” asks Mario, looking at him with concern.
“I’m fine,” Luigi assures him with a nod, this time without a trace of stuttering. “The fact that we’ve left the snow behind helps a lot.”
Again he tries to joke, but this time, Mario is only able to return a grimace.
“I shouldn’t have let you sleep up there,” he mutters, guilt pricking his heart.
“Hey.” Luigi takes a hand out from under the cloak and rubs his brother’s arm gently. “It was my doing. You had to make yourself safe from the Dreambeats.”
“But not at the cost of your own life, Lu,” Mario points out, serious.
Luigi just shrugs.
“I guess that’s how we work, right?” he says with a smile. “Risking our own lives in order to save each other’s.”
At that, Mario can’t reply. He knows that Luigi is right, because, if the situation had been the other way around, he would have risked his life without hesitation to make sure Luigi was safe. He purses his lips, resigned, and lets out a deep sigh.
“I guess you’re right,” he finally admits.
Luigi lets out a soft laugh and massages his arms. Mario immediately grabs Dreambert’s cape to prevent it from slipping down his little sibling’s back, and as he puts it back on his shoulders, he takes the opportunity to provide Luigi with more heat.
“Don’t worry about me, Mario,” Luigi says, smiling. “I know that as long as I’m with you, I’ll be safe.”
Mario’s heart warms at those words, and a smile slowly blooms on his lips. He brings his face a little closer to Luigi’s and his brother imitates him.
“Nothing can hurt us…” Mario begins to say, bowing his head.
“… As long as we’re together,” Luigi concludes.
And, at the moment he pronounces the last syllable, their foreheads meet, filling them with a warmth and serenity that they both urgently needed to feel. They sigh peacefully, comforted by the familiar touch, and instead of separating, they seize the fact that their hands still rest on each other’s shoulders to draw each other in and join in a deep and sweet embrace that makes them feel warmer than any magic.
This is how Dreambert and Starlow find them when, after a few minutes, they return with a few logs. Mario only takes away one hand from Luigi to light the small fire, and then returns his attention to his sibling. He rummages in his pockets and offers a mushroom, and Luigi, not moving away from him, takes a couple of bites, after which he assures Mario that he feels full enough and insists that he finish it himself. Mario, reluctantly, agrees, and is forced to admit that he feels way better almost immediately. He wishes he could offer his little brother a hot drink to make him feel better inside, but since that’s out of his reach, he decides to help Luigi in a different way.
“Come,” he then says, starting to recline, and pulls Luigi gently to make him lie down next to him. “Tonight you’ll sleep with no pillows and no dreams.”
He extends an arm on the hard rock and Luigi, with a smile, rests his head on it, obediently. Mario removes his hat first and then Luigi’s, and puts them on the ground behind his back. He then folds both arms around his brother and draws him to his body, as Luigi wraps his arms around Mario’s waist and snuggles against his chest. Mario places one hand on his sibling’s shoulder and the other on his hair, which he begins to caress lovingly. He only moves an arm away for a moment to make sure that Luigi is completely covered by Dreambert’s cape, but Luigi then grabs one end of the cloak and stretches it over Mario’s body as well.
“You need it too,” he whispers for a second before closing his eyes.
Tenderness invades Mario’s heart again, and a touched smile appears on his lips as a lump forms in his throat. He presses Luigi’s head lovingly against his chest, stroking his hair softly, and only allows himself to close his eyes when he feels Luigi’s breathing, placid in his arms, become slow and rhythmic.
And then, sheltered by the warmth coming from the fire and lulled by the soft breathing of his little brother, Mario finally allows himself to rest.
———————————————
The first thing Luigi feels when he wakes up is Mario’s arms around him.
He smiles, his eyes still closed, feeling protected and loved. He doesn’t know what time it is or how much time has passed, but he doesn’t need to know either. It takes him a few seconds to realize that he no longer feels cold, that all the iciness that took hold of him hours ago has disappeared. He also feels more rested than he has since he first set foot on Pi’illo Island.
But instead of getting up, he decides to snuggle back down next to his brother and enjoy that little moment of peace by his side.
He smiles at the sight of Mario’s sleeping and serene face. His sibling battles a lot on a daily basis, and when he enters Luigi’s dreams, he doesn’t have a moment of respite either, so Luigi is not going to wake him up. Even less so after Mario, with his Firebrand, saved his life the night before.
A shiver runs through him, as he’s all too aware that, if it weren’t for his beloved big brother, Luigi wouldn’t be there. Mario has protected him before, he’s been protecting him practically since they were born, but this time, he hasn’t simply defended Luigi from a greater evil: he has pulled him out of the clutches of death.
Luigi owes Mario his life.
So, very carefully, Luigi moves slowly so that it is his arm that is placed under his sibling’s head. Mario lets out a little snore when he feels his movements, but he doesn’t wake up, and Luigi is forced to stifle a giggle. He pulls Dreambert’s cape aside, as he no longer needs it, and covers his brother’s body with it, which makes Mario smile and sigh in his sleep as he feels warm. Luigi puts his other arm around his sibling and pulls him to himself, and Mario snuggles against his chest so that Luigi almost cradles him like a baby. Smiling, he strokes his brother’s hair softly and gently lays his lips on Mario’s forehead.
“Rest, Mario,” Luigi says in a soft whisper. “I’ll be keeping you warm today.”
And Mario smiles again.

The ceiling lights up, announcing the arrival of a text message on Sami’s phone where it sits on the bedside table.
It’s late. How late he’s not sure, and he doesn’t even know if it’s worth reaching over to find out. Kevin snores in the other bed, both irritating and comfortingly familiar. He’s been staring at the ceiling for a while, unable to turn off the thoughts that tumble around his mind.
He’d spent the last of his time with the Bloodline conflicted and hurt, at war with who he wanted to be and who the Tribal Chief wanted him to be. In some ways putting that chair through Roman’s back had been a relief, a way for him to finally escape from the cage he’d willingly put himself in, unaware of how it would change him.
But that didn’t mean that he didn’t have regrets. The relief he felt as the chair made contact with the Tribal Chief quickly soured when he saw the expression on Jey’s face. The way his face contorted as he screamed about trust and brotherhood. Jimmy and Solo had no hesitation, dealing with a traitor the way they’ve been trained, viciously attacking.
Taking blow after blow, he hadn’t known at the time what came from who, but later on he watched the footage back. Watched as Jey refused to join the fray, rolling out of the ring and walking away. He hadn’t intervened to stop what was happening, but he also hadn’t joined in. That wasn’t nothing.
He’s still not sure where he stands with Jey Uso.
The ceiling lights up again.
Who could possibly be texting him right now?
Juicy Uce 2:27am- [https://open.spotify.com/track/799….]
Juicy Uce 2:30am- thought you’d wanna see it
It’s a link to a new release from the artist that Sami has been obsessed with for a while, something he found out he’d had in common with the Samoan once he’d finally gotten past Jey’s mistrust and hatred.
He’s transported back to that gloomy morning in a gym in a hotel off the exit just outside of the middle of nowhere, their heads together with one wired earbud between them. (Jey insists the audio quality is better, Sami can’t tell a difference but he agrees all the same.)
Sami can smell the sweet shea smell of Jey’s shampoo mixed with his sweat, the butterflies he’s fighting against in his stomach at how close he is, the way his fingers can’t help but move to the beat of the song. In the weeks they’ve been on the road together he’s discovered that Jey Uso is never still, always moving, always at 110% no matter his mood.
He’s fond of Jey. Despite all the suspicion and hatred Jey’s spewed his way, Sami’s seen glimpses of who Jey really is. The way he loves his brothers and protects them from Roman and themselves, How vibrant he can be when he’s deep into a game of Mario Kart with Jimmy and Solo, the way he laughs when the blue shell he launched crashes into Sami’s character (Luigi).
Not to mention that Jey is just insanely attractive. The whole family is really, that’s clear to anyone with eyeballs, but Sami hasn’t been able to get Jey out of his head. The crop tops he wears certainly aren’t helping.
Sami doesn’t catch what Jey says lost in thought as he is, but Jey’s laughing and he can’t help but giggle along. A rare moment of peace.
Kevin makes a sound like a dying elephant and turns in his sleep. The ceiling stares back at Sami and it feels like judgement.
His former? current? best friend has made his feelings about the situation perfectly clear. Sami’s “obsession” with Jey Uso is misguided and useless in his eyes.
If only he knew.
The daydreams he gets lost in. The downright fantasies that he’s had about a man who at most thinks of him as a brother.
Well there were those looks…
His traitorous and hopeful mind. Shame floods his thoughts. He shouldn’t want this, shouldn’t want him like this. There’s no use in indulging himself when it’s never going to happen. Just like there’s no use in catching Jey in dark corners backstage and pleading with him to see reason and leave the bloodline.
And yet…
Sami’s unfortunately never been one to take no for an answer, never knows when to quit. Sometimes it leads to him getting his ass kicked, sometimes it leads to sleepless nights dreaming about soft bronze skin, imagining what Jey’s lips would taste like.
He feels his face heating up, his dick stirring in his shorts at those briefest of thoughts. This is becoming a problem, spilling over from his idle daydreams into his interactions with Jey, getting distracted at each touch and glance Jey sends his way, only fueling this foolish desire further.
How would it feel if Jey touched him in reverence instead of anger? Holding Sami’s face in those big hands, warm and steady before pulling him in for a kiss.
His chest pangs at these images in his mind, memories of things that haven’t even happened. How is it he can see it all so clearly? He rubs at his tired eyes, like maybe it will banish the ghost of Jey’s lips against his own.
It doesn’t work.
Jey’s there, kneeling on the bed in those tight boxers he wears to bed, miles of his stomach exposed to Sami’s view. He reaches out to touch, letting his fingers graze the soft skin, drinking in the sigh that Jey lets out.
“That all you’re tryin’ to do, Uce? Killin’ me…”
Sami’s dick is fully invested, aching and leaking onto the soft fabric of his shorts. His hand dips under the waistband, teasing himself at first.
Jey crowds into his space, seating himself on Sami’s lap with a sly grin, rocking his hips to brush against the growing erection in the ginger’s shorts.
Sami can’t help but groan at the delicious pressure, wrapping his hand around his length and giving it a few good strokes.
_Above him Jey moans, tossing his head back and shaking sweat out of his hair, and Sami can’t resist licking the exposed line of his neck, and he is lost, intoxicated and drowning. His senses are overloaded, Jey is everywhere and everything, the salty-sweet-clean taste of his skin, the smell of his expensive cologne, the hypnotizing swirling lines of ink that adorn his skin. His panting breath, hot against Sami’s face, combining with whispered curses into a beautiful melody.
Their bodies connected. Jey’s pretty pink lips stretched around Sami’s cock. Running his tongue along the planes of Jey’s body, tracing each tattoo, each intricate and wonderful part of him.
The back of his head knocks against the backboard, his hand working furiously on his dick, bringing him closer and closer to the edge. He bites his lip hard, trying his best to keep quiet.
Jey stretched out on a hotel bed in soft morning light. Laughing at him over breakfast. Back arched perfectly as Jey takes him into his body, tight, warm, home. The face he makes as he falls apart-
Sami groans, the visions around him disappearing as he coats his hand in warm sticky cum.
He sighs out a long exhale as he comes down from his orgasm, uncomfortably back in reality with Kevin snoring away on the other side of the room as his cum dries against his skin.
Guilt crashes over him like waves, making his stomach turn. Why does he keep doing this to himself?
He gingerly pries himself up out of the bed, moving slowly to not make any unnecessary noise as he makes his way to the bathroom. His and Kevin’s friendship is still rocky, and waking the man up in the middle of the night moaning the name of their opponent certainly isn’t going to win him any brownie points.
Sami cleans himself up quickly and efficiently before staring into his reflection in the mirror. The cheap florescent light only exaggerates the dark bags under his eyes and the bruise near his hairline, a harsh reminder of what really happened the last time Jey Uso put his hands on him.
But the superkicks and blows don’t match up to the Jey he knows, the man who showed him his true colors, the Jey that haunts his mind in stunning detail.
His eyes sting with unshed tears. After all what right does he have to cry? At the end of the day, he’s only torturing himself with these thoughts.
What’s he going to do? Take Jey up on their unspoken vows, say fuck it to everyone and everything and run off and live happily ever after? It’s not realistic. That’s not how real life works.
Sami splashes his face with cold water, wiping away all the evidence of his sins before making his way back to bed.
He burrows under the comforter and tries to get comfy, letting his breath match the pace of Kevin’s deep snores to try and get himself to relax. It’s definitely past late at this point and he should really be asleep.
He stares up, blinking his aching and tired eyes.
After a moment, the ceiling lights up with a notification from his phone.

Hope you enjoyed!!!

July 6: International Kiss Day
Luigi knew that the Koopa Kingdom didn’t have the same holidays as humans did.
Aside from Summer and Winter Holidays, the handful of holidays that did seem similar enough tended to have their own twist.
For instance, Prank Day is the closest thing to April Fools, having the requirement for an individual to only aim for one big prank to pull. It’s those little differences that made him and Mario stumble through the years with the merciful, guiding hand of Peach.
Which makes this particular day special, even if he’s technically the only one celebrating.
He’s unsure if the date he’s going by is accurate but, from the moment he woke up, it felt like a good time to start-
With his first ‘victim’ being his husband.
Bowser was a heavy sleeper, yes, but it makes it all the sweeter when he plants a kiss on his forehead, startling the Koopa awake and rewarding Luigi with the rare ‘mrp’ sound that he found adorable.
It’s after a round of gentle goading (and a few brief smooches) that he gets his husband up and heading towords the breakfast table.
At breakfast, Luigi takes the time to kiss the forehead of every Koopaling, getting reactions ranging from grudging acceptance (like Ludwig) to surprised happiness (like Junior).
And breakfast goes on as normal and chaotic as every other day- with the exception of Bowser, who shoots a curious glance at his husband.
The day continues and is spent fulfilling duties and managing many micro-crisis caused by accidents or Koopaling hijinks.
It’s also the reason that they ran out of flour, with the kids somehow taking a fight into the kitchen and ending up tossing around and wasting the one ingredient he uses for pasta.
Instead of crying over spilled milk (er, flour?), he felt it a better time than any to restock it- and maybe use the shopping trip to the Mushroom Kingdom as an excuse to visit Peach’s Castle.
After all, he’s not quite done yet.
It took an hour or so to obtain the precious ingredient, make his way to the castle door, and enter through the familiar foyer, halls, and straight to the garden where he KNOWS two of his favorite people like to spend time together.
And they were, sitting side-by-side on the garden bench snuggled close and why aren’t they married yet??
Regardless, his greeting has them jumping apart like he caught them doing something, though that is quickly overshadowed as they brighten up in recognition.
He won’t lie, it’s an absolute delight to suddenly be pinned in a double-sided hug that nearly suspends him in the air. It’s a solid minute before they let him down though, and Luigi takes his chance to give Mario and Peach ‘il bacetto’.
It takes a second for Mario to register it, but the instant confusion from Peach is enough to have his brother questioning him (and giving Peach a rundown of what the gesture meant).
And Luigi did explain, reminding him that being in this world didn’t mean they had to drop their celebrations- even the ones that aren’t particularly major.
“Not that I’m complaining, fratellino, but what brought this on?”
Luigi does pause at this, not quite able to find the words. “I-“
And he doesn’t answer for a minute, not without thinking about his recent thoughts of their past home, of the world they left behind, and the unique bout of homesickness that came with them.
“It felt like the right time.”
And Mario doesn’t ask anything else, but Luigi can guess why- especially when he catches his brother giving a considering glance towards Peach.
They catch up for an hour, but the sun was setting and he eventually had to bid them goodbye.
Still, judging by how their distant silhouettes were getting closer again, he considers his work done.
By the time he arrived home, he was able to quickly hijack the kitchen from the Shy Guy chefs and make a large amount of pappardelle with spicy beef sauce and sides of sauteed bell peppers and tomatoes.
As always, ever since he had started the tradition of cooking for the family he made, he was met with excited yowls and noisy slurps as they dug into their dinner.
And, as always, he shares a fond look with Bowser even as they urge their bambinis to slow down because there’s plenty more.
“What’s gotten into you today?”
Luigi gives him another smooch, right on the edge of his husband’s smile. “Into me?”
“You’ve been very affectionate.” He still pulls him closer, even though they are practically entangled on the King-Koopa-sized recliner. “I’m not complaining, but it seems awfully-” he leans until he is whispering in his ear. “intent.”
“Well.” Luigi tries to sneak a kiss on his husband’s nose, but the Koopa pulls away just enough for him to meet air instead. It makes him pout. “As it so happens, today is a human Holiday called ‘International Kiss Day’.”
“Oh?” The Koopa grins at him, his time not doing anything as Luigi successfully lands a kiss to his chin. “And should I worry that you’ve seemed determined to kiss everyone around you?”
“Of course not! I want to start and end my days with you! It’s why I kissed you a good morning-” And Luigi yelps when Bowser lifts him from his perch, high enough to meet him at eye-level.
“Truly?” And doesn’t wait for a reply as he starts kissing Luigi’s forehead, cheeks, nose and everything else within reach, having the human giggle from ticklishness.
“Then-” Bowser nuzzles behind his ear, “you-” manages to kiss the tip of his ear, “are-” moves to the other side, “my day’s-” and kisses his jaw instead. “beginning and end.”
And Luigi’s breathless, and he wouldn’t be able to tell you exactly why- only that his heart is pounding a hole in his ribs and that the world is spinning just a little- around him- around Bowser- around them both-
And meets his husband halfway, letting himself get lost in a kiss that he has been dying to do since that morning.

Bowuigi prompt?
This might be less about bowuigi itself, and more about Mario’s reaction towards finding out that Luigi fell in love with a man that captured him
So imagine with me, instead of yelling or disbelief or acceptance, it’s a genuine one to one conversation, of Mario being like “ Luigi that sounds like Stockholm syndrome” and Luigi is just over here, trying his best and explaining how it’s not because genuinely it’s not
But let’s be honest a 100% does kind of sound like Stockholm syndrome and so I can totally see Mario just talking to Luigi like if he’s a lunatic/like he’s walking on thin ice, making sure that he doesn’t break
Maybe Mario forces him to take therapy or maybe he puts Luigi through a bunch of tests and bowser?
Mario peach daisy toad are all there gently trying to decipher if Luigi just needs help or if this is true love
I find this concept to go in a hilarious way, or maybe even in an Angsty way. either or this is free for the bowuigi void
(if there is a fanfiction out there that has Mario calmly talk to Luigi on how he thinks he has Stockholm syndrome please tell me)

I wanna meet more Mario pals here lol
I kinda want more followers in the Mario fandom… I have many from Puyo, but I’m also into Mario so feel free to follow if you also like Mario!!
My favorite Mario characters are Dimentio, Luigi (& Mr. L), Mario, Count Bleck, Timpani, O’Chunks, Mimi, Nastasia, Rosealina, Peach
The only two ships I like is Mario x Peach and Count Bleck x Timpani ehe~
And Count Bleck and his minions are a happy family to me I love them that way <3
And I am soooo aroace I don’t understand how romance works so when I try to make romantic things with those 2 ships it probably doesn’t sound accurate at all-
I post fanfics on Ao3 and you’ve probably seen me post about them, I was considering posting them on Tumblr somehow as well and free them from being Ao3 exclusive stuff.
ALSO! I love the Mario Movie it is a cinematic masterpiece and I will never change my mind on that!
Also! Please sent me asks my ask box is DRY AND EMPTY, it’s a ghost town ahaha~ (You can ask about headcanons and what not, and I might do some ask games I see on Tumblr sometimes ehe~)

💞 for the prompt. I'd love to see it with Mario and Peach.
💞 Post-nightmare cuddles (Oooh, first Mario/Peach story prompt! No complaints, I need to practice my pairing writing.) @bowlboi
Peach was used to waking up at a moment’s notice that any ‘new’ noise bought her out of her dreams. It unfortunately came with the territory of ruling a kingdom and getting kidnapped far more than what she was comfortable with. But it was useful, especially in moments like this.
She’d been awoken by a sharp gasp sounding next to her. Peach quickly sat up and scanned the room. The library was dark, save for the crackling fire burning in the fireplace. Wide windows showing the night sky filled with stars. Peach realizes that she must have fallen asleep while reading. But what had…
Looking over to her right found Mario sitting next to her. Looking pale with his eyes darting around, as if trying to find something lurking in the darkness.
“Mario?” Peach said softly. Worry growing when she didn’t receive a reply.
The hero jerked back feeling a hand being placed on his shoulder. Turning to see a clearly worried Peach sitting next to him.
“P-Princess? …S-Sorry, I don’t know what that was,” Mario gave a weak laugh, “More tired than I thought. I should probably-”
“This is…normal?” Peach asked, worry clear in her voice.
“What? I- no, I mean…”
Peach frowned watching as Mario’s resolved drop. The hero leaned back into the plush couch, wrapping his arms around himself. Eyes pointed downwards away from the princess.
“How long has this been happening?”
“...A while.”
“Are they nightmares?”
Mario sighed, “I guess? I’m not sure how else to put it. I’m not seeing anything, it’s more of a…a feeling. That there’s danger’s close and I need to wake up now…”
“Does Luigi-”
“No, he doesn’t know. You…You weren’t supposed to know either.”
Peach didn’t want to show how much that hurt to hear, because in some way she understood. After all, she had a kingdom to worry about. Some things she dealt with weren’t those that her citizens needed to worry about. Didn’t mean that she liked the idea that Mario was hiding so much from her and, even more so, Luigi.
Saying nothing more, Peach inched closer to Mario and placed an arm around him. Who looked up in both surprise and a little fear. Soon leaning against the princess, cheeks turning a soft pink.
On her part, Peach shifted so that one arm could keep Mario close while another reached up to easily run a hand through his rather messy hair. She felt him immediately relax into the touch. His own arms twitching as if to reach out as well, but fearful to do so. Peach merely smiled softly, helping Mario position his arms around her.
The brief spike of embarrassment Mario had disappeared with the fingers returned. Running through his hair and scratching at his scalp. Peach leaning down to rest a cheek against the top of his head, eyes closing.
“I’m here for you…”

All the Gold in the World
Or, Peasley doesn’t acknowledge gender norms and wants to see Luigi in a pretty dress.
Very nervous! This is my first complete Mario fic, so I’m posting it here first to see what the response is. If it’s decently received, I’d like to clean it up and post it to my Ao3. While I’m not what I’d call a master wordsmith, it’s a labor of love, so please enjoy, and critiques are welcome as well!
EDIT: We’re live on Ao3!
~~~~~~
There it was again, that telltale sparkle in those big, blue, beautiful eyes. It was just as Peasley had hoped: an invitation to sneak away from the dreary duties of the palace in favor of strolling an upscale shopping pavilion arm-in-arm, a bit of light conversation about how worn his favorite tunic was becoming and won’t you help me choose a new one today, my love?, and a break for coffee that just happened to see them seated across from a display of some of the finest, most colorful, undoubtedly most expensive gowns in the kingdom, all efforts to disguise (and eventually expose) his true plan. Seeing the awe in his Luigi’s eyes as he cast longer and longer glances at the display, watching the corners of his lips twitch beneath his mustache as the subtle spark of innuendo grew into a flame of yearning… he’d known it, oh, he’d known it all along!
Now, Peasley was very clever, and his consort had the loveliest of tastes, so how this knowledge had eluded him for so long, he was ashamed to say he wasn’t certain. But it didn’t matter now. The only question that mattered now was—
“Which of those gowns are you eyeing, my pet?”
Luigi sputtered so hard that a small mouthful of coffee forced its way past his lips.
“Wh— gowns? What gowns?” he stuttered, wiping the coffee dribbling from his chin with the back of his hand, a shamed blush overtaking him. “I don’t see any gowns!”
Peasley, unfazed, handed him a paper napkin. “I was thinking the deep green A-line with the bell sleeves, personally. The color’s a given, and the silhouette would compliment your form exquisitely. Perfect for the upcoming Edamame Extravaganza.”
Luigi hastily wiped his glove and the table clean, his mouth opening and closing in a way that wasn’t unlike a Cheep Cheep caught on dry land. Assorted sounds came out, but nothing coherent.
Peasley couldn’t help but chuckle. His Greenie had a number of interests he’d tried to hide, offering up such excuses as “It’s embarrassing!” and “It’s really nothing, just a dumb pastime, you know?” when he was inevitably discovered. Yet every last one of those interests enamored Peasley, and perhaps none more so than this. Oh, how proud he was of his own detective work.
“I— I-I just couldn’t pull off a dress that well,” Luigi finally managed, “you know?”
“Nonsense! You once pulled off a more stunning Peach than the real deal. You didn’t hear that from me, of course.”
Luigi simply hid behind his coffee, humming nervously. His Starbeans order was always the same: a medium-roast Hoolumbian with so much nutmeg that the air around them smelled like a winter market. Watching him sip and hum and blush, Peasley found himself craving pumpkin spice.
“But they’re so… expensive, right?” Luigi eventually said into his near-empty cup. “I-I could never! I’d never ask for something like that!”
Ah, of course! His Luigi had come from a commoner’s background, after all. Little had changed since he’d become Prince Consort of the Beanbean Kingdom. He was still more comfortable in cotton and denim than the tunics and robes of the palace, he still preferred tinkering with pipes and assorted machinery to sitting in committees or kissing babies as adoring citizens fawned over him, and, so it would seem, he still worried about money, as though an entire royal family’s wealth wasn’t his to partake in.
“You needn’t concern yourself with such matters!” Peasley’s right hand met Luigi’s left, their fingers lacing together. Luigi’s hands were larger, quite a bit so, and yet they fit Peasley’s like a lock and key. “I would never offer something I couldn’t afford to give.”
That statement wasn’t entirely true — he’d promise his love a five-course banquet if all he had was a single loaf of bread, and by the stars he’d make it happen — but he could most certainly afford this, and that was essential to reinforce. For weeks now, he had been privately swooning to thoughts of Luigi strolling through the lush gardens of the palace, clad in silk and velvet that swished at his feet with every step, a crown of matching roses in the place of his favorite hat. He was one step closer to bringing that image into reality, and that was worth all the gold in the world.
And yet the reassurance didn’t seem to quell any of Luigi’s worries — in fact, he only looked more stressed, more uncertain. He stared awfully hard at some spot on the table that Peasley couldn’t see, and his fingers had gone rigid in Peasley’s hold, and— was he… trembling?
Dread blossomed in Peasley’s gut. What had he done wrong?
“Luigi.” His opposite hand reached out to touch his face, offer comfort, but he stopped himself. Right. He typically preferred not to be touched when he was like this. “Luigi, my darling, what’s wrong?”
For a long moment, Luigi didn’t respond. And so Peasley waited, patient, ready to offer whatever words of comfort he needed.
“I can’t wear a dress,” Luigi finally said. It wasn’t a bashful excuse. It was a lament.
Confusion clouded Peasley’s rationale. Normally, he would drop the topic, see to Luigi’s wellbeing, and then ask questions when his beloved was in comfortable night clothes with a mug of hot chocolate in the privacy of their chambers. But that deadly mix of confusion and curiosity compelled him to squeeze his hand and ask, “Whyever not?”
At that, Luigi shook his head. “It’s so silly.” He cast a rueful smile to the side, but he did squeeze Peasley’s hand back, so that was progress, at least.
“‘Silly,’” Peasley said, scooting his chair in as far as it would go without crushing his midsection, “is Desi showing up drunk to Chori’s beanceañera on last night’s episode of The Mung and the Restless. What’s not silly is anything that causes you distress.”
Luigi laughed at that, quietly, but genuinely, and his eyes briefly met Peasley’s. They still sparkled, but with something new, something much more melancholy.
“It’s… it’s kind of a holdover, I guess.” He looked back down as he turned Peasley’s hand over, gloved thumb tracing aimlessly over his palm. “From my old world.”
“From Bruck-Len?” Peasley confirmed, watching Luigi’s thumb travel its idle path. “Did something happen there?”
Luigi set his lips into a thin line, and a short but not uncomfortable silence fell over them while he gathered the words he needed. “Nothing one-off, it was more… In Brooklyn, you couldn’t… guys really couldn’t wear those sorts of clothes, you know? If you do, you get made fun of, called names, roughed around, ‘cause you’re not, you know, not a real man.”
Peasley blinked, looking back up. Luigi didn’t meet his gaze.
The quality of one’s character based on the fabric they clad themselves in. The notion made little sense to Peasley.
“Well, what constitutes a ‘real man’?” he wondered aloud. Surely it wasn’t really something so inane as what clothes a man might wear. He, for example, was about as manly a man as they came — he was powerful, intelligent, skilled in combat, exceedingly good-looking — and yet he wore tunics while attending to political affairs or missions and Luigi’s oversized shirts at night, all dresses in all but name.
Yes, he knew well the typical fashion norms and how they differed between men, women, and those who lay in another plane of identity altogether, but never had he heard of such controversy in response to those norms being altered.
Luigi, his beautiful and equally manly Luigi, shrugged in response. “Someone more… rugged, I guess? Definitely not someone who wears a dress. And real simple clothes aren't enough either, oh no. Gotta be macho, hot-headed, tough, athletic, ready to throw down at the drop of a hat…”
“...perhaps with unkempt hair, lighter overalls, a red shirt, maybe?” Peasley guessed, half-joking. And to his delight, that got another laugh out of Luigi, a much lighter, heartfelt laugh.
“Oh, no,” he said, “even Mario wasn’t man enough half the time!”
“Really? But he fits your description perfectly!”
“Yeah, but he had one liiiiiitle tiny problem: he supported me.” Luigi’s smile diminished again, not into a full frown, but his eyes seemed distant, wistful. “He was the only one I could really be comfortable around, you know? He hates shopping, but he’d always take me to the mall during sales because he knew I didn’t have the nerve to go without him. Sometimes he’d buy whatever I bought in his size and wear it out with me, and then he’d act like a goof so everyone stared at him and not me. Those were the only times I ever got to feel… well, good about wearing girly clothes.”
A feeling like warm nostalgia creeped into Peasley’s chest. Yes, he could picture it well: a shorter, smoother-faced Luigi, in the light fashions of city youth, perhaps a simple skirt and blouse. His matching elder twin, striding alongside him with twice the confidence and none of the elegance, going out of his way to make his gait as clumsy as possible with the biggest smile on his face.
Luigi smiling too, a younger and shyer smile, a boy becoming comfortable in his own skin, in the clothes he felt suited him best.
How could anyone envision such a sight, much less witness it for themselves, and not be besotted? How could anyone see that and mock him?
Peasley’s left hand moved to his opposite side, and he realized with a start that he was instinctively going for his rapier. But his rapier was back at the castle, and the threats which his beloved recounted were all in the past, unchallengeable, unchangeable. Something about that thought left a bitter taste in his throat.
“But I… still got the worst of it,” Luigi continued, and a heavy emotion like woe dimmed his features. “Mario, no one really cared what he did. He was a normal kid where I wasn’t involved. But me? No, I had enough going against me! You take a boy that likes other boys and wearing dresses, and you get…” He cleared his throat. “You get Mario getting grounded a lot. I think he’d beat up like, six different kids by the time we got out of high school?”
The bitterness in Peasley’s throat eased, and he washed the last of it away with a swig of his chuckoccino. He would have to give his gratitude to the elder brother next they met. He hoped little had remained of those vile perpetrators when he was done with them.
Luigi sighed heavily, leaning his cheek into his free hand. “Sooooo… yeah. Wearing dresses still scares me I guess. It shouldn’t, not anymore, I know that, but…”
But you’ve been scared your whole life, haven’t you?
An ache resonated deeply within Peasley, a hurt the likes he hadn’t felt since his favorite character’s untimely death in Days of Our Limas.
“Oh, my love…” He finally gave in; he couldn’t help reaching forward to stroke Luigi’s face where his hand didn’t obscure it, and the ache lifted slightly when Luigi relaxed against his touch. His sad eyes grew warm, and Peasley could feel the blood rising beneath his skin. So warm, and so responsive… “Forgive me. I didn’t mean to bring up such distressing memories.”
Luigi lifted his head, just enough so that Peasley could cup his cheek. He graced Peasley with a smile so gentle and trusting and grateful that Peasley was sure he could drop dead on the spot from the crushing weight of affection alone.
“Honestly? It felt kinda nice to talk about it. Finally off my chest, you know?” Luigi’s right hand pressed Peasley’s palm deeper against his skin, and for a moment, he said nothing else. But his gaze caught some grounded nothing, and the corners of his mustache twitched, and was he blushing? Yes, he was absolutely blushing, a gorgeous scarlet growing in intensity against Peasley’s touch. “Kinda makes me wanna, um, t-try again,” he finally found the nerve to say, quietly, but steadily.
Peasley, sagacious as he was, knew that this was his cue. Oh, his brave darling! He would gladly meet such bravery halfway.
“Then— then will you accompany me to that boutique across the street?” His eyes flickered briefly to their conjoined hands as he laced their fingers together once more, his right and Luigi’s left. This whole time, in one form or another, they’d remained connected. Truly like lock and key. “Will you choose a lovely gown and wear it for me, my dear?”
That luminescent shade of red burned hotter still, and as much as Peasley normally enjoyed such a sight, he considered backing down this time, truly considered it. But Luigi nodded, pulling Peasley’s hand towards himself. “As you wish,” he said, pressing a kiss to his knuckles. Peasley could feel his lips curl into the smallest of grins. “Mio principe.”
~~~
It took a week, several trips to a handful of the kingdom’s finest shops, and many hours of compliments and sugary-sweet assurances, but by the time the Edamame Extravaganza rolled around and two very important guests arrived at the palace, Luigi stepped out to greet his brother clad in gentle slopes of deep green and gold, a simple but elegant gown that only served to make the handsome prince that much lovelier still.
Mario’s first reaction was shock, followed by what Peasley could best assign as glee. The words the twins exchanged in their native tongue flew by too quickly for him to catch anything of substance (he was, though he would never admit it, a bit slow in learning the language), but the gestures and laughter and the way Mario clapped as Luigi twirled to demonstrate the gown’s billowing skirt told him everything he needed to know: the elder sibling’s taste wasn’t as benighted as he’d feared it might be.
But most importantly, Luigi, his Luigi, was beaming. He was no towering monolith of self-confidence, but he held his head a little higher, and he walked with a sort of grace Peasley hadn’t seen from him before, and the golden embellishments of his attire looked comparatively dull next to the sheer joy that radiated from his countenance.
How much more brightly would he beam tonight, Peasley wondered, when he revealed he’d purchased every single gown Luigi had tried on during their venture, all thirty-seven of them? Surely he would outshine the sun itself.
“You’re going to send him to the hospital,” Peach sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose as they stepped away to let the brothers chat. “If he was worried about how expensive a single dress is…”
“I already assured him I wouldn’t do anything I couldn’t afford.”
“I’m surprised you could afford that.”
Peasley tapped his temple in response. “Pragmatism, dear,” he teased. The humble Mushroom Queen was above using her title and benevolent reputation to obtain favors from her citizens. Peasley was not.
Peach shook her head and sighed again, but she couldn’t disguise the fond grin that found its way onto her face.
Turning to watch the brothers once more, Peasley followed suit.
Luigi was the rare sort who possessed no unflattering angles; he looked just as good in a gown as he did in overalls as he did in nothing at all. But he was most beautiful, Peasley decided, when he was unabashedly himself, when he lost sight of the eyes that followed him and simply let himself be, with no pretense  — in those rare instances, he could finally see himself the way Peasley saw him.
Showering him in fine clothing and helping him overcome an old emotional wound wouldn’t miraculously dissolve all of his insecurities. But if it helped even the slightest bit, then that was worth all the gold in the world.

Shout out to @multicolour-ink and @chloecherrysip for use of their gifs: X X
First of all, I’d like to point out how ecstatic Luigi gets the moment they get their first call. I know that some suspect that Mario dragged Luigi into the plumbing business (i.e. that “you’re bringing your brother down with you” line from their dad), but it seems to me that this is fully both Mario and Luigi’s dream.
Tumblr media
Look at him! He is shaking with joy. He absolutely can not contain himself. He throws his recently-cracked phone in order to grab his brother by the shoulders and shake him before excitedly pulling him into a hug. His heart is all in on this company.
With their first job on the horizon Mario and Luigi race out of the restaurant, climb into their van, and start the engine. Unfortunately, it looks like the money that might have gone into keeping their vehicle in working condition went into that TV commercial. The van sputters for a moment before the engine dies completely.
Tumblr media
One thing I noticed is that when they get in the van Luigi has his seatbelt on, while Mario doesn’t. Mario is too focused on his goal to remember the details, while Luigi continuously has safety on the mind. Makes me wonder how many times Luigi has had to remind his brother to buckle up halfway down the road.
Mario tries a second time to get the engine to start to no avail. Luigi begins to panic, fidgeting nervously in his seat. “Oh no, we’re gonna be late.”
“No we are not!” Mario picks up the bag of tools and shoves them into Luigi’s arms before opening his door and bolting out. “C’mon, let’s go!”
“Hey! Wait up!” Luigi races after his brother, who forges on full speed ahead. Mario leaps over and dives through every obstacle in his way with little regard for anything other than his destination, but while his eyes remain on the road ahead he calls back to his brother, making sure he’s keeping up and knows which way to go: “This way!” “C’mon Lu, step on it!”
Luigi has trouble right off the bat. Rounding a corner he almost bumps into a business man crossing the street, and is so distracted by the near miss that he crashes into the garbage can Mario recently leapfrogged over, disturbing the cat rummaging around inside. Luigi’s successive collision draws the cat’s attention, and just his luck the kitty takes one look at him and decides he’s gotta die. (Jeeze, what is it with Luigi and animals? They must get stressed out by his anxiety or something.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luigi continues to run into every possible obstacle while struggling to get the angry cat off his head, but Lordy he’s trying his best.
He accidentally knocks groceries out of a woman’s arms... but an interesting detail is that he manages to catch the grocery bag mid-air. Luigi’s clumsy and unlucky, but at the same time he’s got some decent reflexes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, catching the bag doesn’t stop its contents from spilling out onto the sidewalk. He tries to do the gentlemanly thing and pick them up– but being still in crisis he gets his wires crossed. He haphazardly shoves half the apples back into the bag, throws the malicious furball in for good measure, and hands it off to the nearest person with a friendly little “here ya’ go!” before running off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luigi finally catches up with Mario when he encounters an obstacle big enough to give him pause: a construction site that closed off the entire road. But Mario steels himself, regathers his determination, and barrels ahead once more before Luigi can catch his breath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Oh Mario, what are ya’ doin’!?” Luigi sounds desperate, practically pleading with his brother to hold his horses, but he follows nonetheless, and this time– given the more dangerous terrain– Mario is making sure things are a little easier for him. Mario opens the gates for Luigi, brings down a ladder, throws a wooden plank over a gap... little things to help him get through.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Side note: I like how in this gif ⬆️ Luigi pauses a bit, trying to figure out whether or not he should apologize to the construction worker on his brother’s behalf before he just continues ahead out of fear of getting left behind.)
Tumblr media
 But at the same time, there are obstacles that Mario is able to avoid that Luigi can’t help but stumble into. While Mario swings along chains and runs across metal beams overhead, Luigi once again fumbles his way into everything and everyone. Again, he’s trying his best to be polite all the while, apologizing to the victims of his clumsiness and gently tiptoeing through the recently-laid wet cement in an attempt to minimize the damage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally they reach the end, and Mario is still calling after his brother. “C’mon Luigi, pump those legs!”
Luigi stumbles on, visibly panting. As he exits the construction site he attempts one last little formality on the way out by closing the gate behind him. “I’m trying... I’m trying! I’ve got bad knees!”
Conclusion:
When Mario is fixated on a goal he becomes reckless, so wrapped up in what he wants to do and where he wants to go that everything else falls to the wayside... except his brother. Despite his determination there is definitely a care and concern for Luigi all throughout, especially when the road gets rocky. At the same time, Mario doesn’t seem to quite see everything his brother goes through. I’m not talking about the “bad knees” line (that’s it’s own separate debate), I’m just talking about the usual bad luck Luigi encounters merely trying to run down a sidewalk. Though Mario has seen enough to be protective of his brother, he doesn’t handle Luigi with kid gloves. In fact, he holds him to almost the same standard he does himself, and I think Luigi appreciates that despite everything. When all is said and done they did make it to their destination on time... it just wasn’t the route that Lu would’ve chosen willingly.

My ol’ shipper lurker ass is looking for Peach x Bowser fics with them marrying voluntary rather than forced.
As much as I like the idea that Peach already liked him and starts seeing him on the lowdown through the kidnappings, the only way I see Peach and Bowser marrying is through protecting her kingdom with a few critical core conditions that will have to happen before she puts a ring on it.
There’s no set timeline in Mario so it could possibly be either a few or at least over 10 years of Bowser giving the Mushroom Kingdom grief over Peach. That’s a lot of time for a kingdom to be regularly attacked by the same invader and all the kingdom has for any real defense is just two human Italian plumbers?
One day Mario and Luigi are gonna get too old to be the sole defense of the Mushroom Kingdom and with Junior being brought up to take up his father’s goal to bring down the Mushroom Kingdom, there’s no way that set-up is gonna last. That’s two and possibly multiple generations of attacks the Mushroom Kingdom will have to endure all for what? Because Peach wants her freedom to do whatever she wants?
She’s a ruler and a politician foremost.
As much as it’s all feel-good and girl boss, her position doesn’t give her that level of luxury of freedom at all and she’s the only surviving member of her royal family. Her choices are literally putting her entire kingdom at great risk. If the Mario brothers weren’t there, the Mushroom Kingdom would have been done a long time ago.
As the movie showed, if she fought against the Koopa Kingdom on her own, she would only lose as the Koopa Kingdom is too powerful and technologically advanced with near endless soldiers. The only practical way to keep her kingdom intact was to marry Bowser and with how much of a simp he is for her, she would have been able to have him wrapped around her little finger even if he is mentally damaged with a hair trigger volatile temper and whiplash mood swings.
And most important of all, she would have been able to mold Junior into a better and more mentally sound and balanced person and be less evil than his dad. It’s already known that Junior’s only being evil to appease and be close to his dad but being a tyrant is not what Junior really wants. If Peach was his stepmother, she would have opened his mind to owning the want of being a hero despite how Bowser and Kamek are bringing him up.
As long as Junior stays a villain and keeps that door closed, being a tyrannical villain will be the only life he will know. God forbid if Bowser dies due to Mario and co. while he’s still young cause then that door is torched for good cause Junior love him some Dad and will make good on any wishes Bowser wants done.
TL;DR: I wanna see FigmentForms,“A Tale of Two Rulers” with a Powser spin.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, asking for waaaay too much from a fic. If I had time to make this fanfic, I already would have but I don’t.
So I guess this is a challenge to any fanfic writers out there that think they can do it.
