You know what I’m actually inordinately pleased by the “A for effective” line in Grease Got A Hold. Not only does it effectively (ha) include the spirit of the impossible-to-convey-through-song misspellings from his letter and therefore include a detail from the book that could’ve otherwise gone unincluded but it also is ultimately a common spelling error that, while incorrect, is very understandable — it gets across that Soda’s area of expertise isn’t book smarts like his brothers, while also not straying too far into the extreme of being tragically ungifted at everything in the area

okay first of all I’ve said this before but i feel like the only reason people see him like this is because of “chaos and bloodshed is not a solution” which caused people to be like “omg he doesn’t like violence such innocent baby protect him 🥺🥺” WHEN HES A GROWN ASS MAN (45 - 47) AT THE TIME OF FARMER REFUTED ☹️ also about the king george thing there’s lots more to his character than just being a loyalist he was a priest / bishop fcs 😞 how about jesus being his protector!!!!! /j another thing about him is that i feel like people tried babying him to make him seem less of an antagonist maybe…??? like ive seen people say “poor sammy he was trying to express his opinion🥺” ok well we’re not rooting for his opinion in this musical ARE WE?? like idk maybe we should let antagonists be antagonists and be in the wrong 🤗 personally i dont agree with samuel’s opinions AT ALL but that doesn’t make him any less kissable in my eyes!!! can we let characters be pathetic without infantilizing them PLEASE i just see him as this annoying snooty man who sees the revolutionists as childish and immature / sees him + other loyalists as above these “barbaric patriots”. also i recall thayne sayinf something on the hamilcast podcast about seabury trying to “save everyone from the king” (i pray the king shows you his mercy) before its too late and i dont know how this aligns with what im saying but i think it tells us a bit more about him (at least thayne’s version) and i just find it a silly detail 😁 btw you guys im only talking about all this from the musical perspective and this has barely anything to do with actual history or the characters’ historical counterparts 🤗🤗🤗🌈🌈🌈🌸🌸🌸

You always read so much into Louis’ lyrics and I’ve tried but I don’t get it. They seem so lazy to me.

Anon, these are just the lyrics I wrote from memory, sat here mulling over the absurdness of this ask. I haven’t even mentioned ‘on my way to 27’ or ‘building mountains, hoping that they’ll turn to gold’ or the onomatopoeia or any of the very real language devices that are used regularly.

Louis’ songwriting is so incredibly layered and complicated; there are multiple interpretations from all different fans and the ability to give so much to so many is a talent in and of itself. Lyrically complex and lyrically confusing are not the same thing. It takes a real artist to be able to simplify the roaring emotions we all feel, it takes tangible restraint to say that actually, sometimes it doesn’t need to be opaque because the rawest form is enough. It takes something special to punch me in the heart with ‘you tell me ‘take it easy’, but it’s easier to say, wish I didn’t need so much of you, I hate to say but I do.’

It’s clearly all lost on you and I think that’s a little sad.

I have a lot of feelings about the new dune movies decision to leave out the Bene Gesserit idea of there being "true humans" for the most part, but I did really love it being brought back for the end of the second movie - the Harkonnens are almost always referred to as "animals" by the Atreides (and I think the other way around too?). I think its a really amazing demonstration of how Paul is becoming more fascist in his ideals, but also how the Houses are inherently fascist in a way, which kinda comes back to the theme of no good colonizers

I adore how Circe's instrumentation is primarily scored as a cello? Like she's in the same string family as Penelope, since she's the only one who ever manages to threaten Odysseus' devotion to his wife

But it also means that we can effortlessly transition from her cello into Penelope's viola when Odysseus rejects her temptations.

Then, after that's happened, Penelope's viola plays an accompaniment to Circe's cello, cuz Circe now understands and has decided to help him get back

It's really cool.
