i was happy for dead man talking/dead woman walking to live in a google doc, and for the art to live in a discord server for me and five assorted perverts, and made this account mostly on a whim and as an archive, so i consider people really enjoying it, and gloria, and this whole strange niche oc/canon thing with a companion from a 2016 video game pretty bewildering in a really pleasant way. i'd be content with just me, but thank you, i'm glad i took the time to make a tumblr

Hes kind of based off the donnie darko rabbit. He almost exclusively wears merchandise of the quentin tarantino movie death proof. He talks to his cats in a baby voice. He wears a white fedora that makes every video he wears it in feel dated by like 7 years. Hes 5'3. Sometimes he barks like a dog. Hes from new jersey. He hacked a girls tumblr blog so he could post about how awesome he is. He added a laugh track over a video of him killing people. He named a chainsaw rex. He torments people by playing frank sinatra at them. His name comes from an animal collective song. His creator drew his "true form" as a giant buff wolf bug anthro. Theres a (semi)canon blog entry where he makes the speakers blare rob zombie before he enters a room, then holds a guy at gunpoint to describe what he did to to him while "making sure to leave in all the cool parts". The guy hes possessing has radioactive blood. He tried for 2 whole minutes to pick up a bottle of ketchup with a grabby hand. Hes kind of suicidal.He can be reasonably compared to pretty much every major tumblr sexyman. His actor has gone on record saying heath ledgers joker inspired his acting choices. His creators were too attached to him to permanently kill him at the end of the series. Sometimes his voice gets distorted and it makes him sound like bill ciphers first year on HRT. Hes basically like my artistic muse. For some fucking reason i associate the song cake by the ocean with him. I firmly believe that if everymanhybrid didn't require a masters degree in creepypasta autism to comprehend, he would've caused more teenage stabbings than the slenderman incident and more kin war tumblr scenarios than nagito komaeda.

something about diomedes and his adoptive brothers just OUGH.

like at first, when he's young, its aegialus - his sister's husband, heir to the Argive throne. aegialus teaches him how to use a spear. how to calm a horse. how to speak in a way that men will listen to what you have to say. diomedes is easily the youngest of the epigoni - he feels more at home when aegialus takes him under his wing. saves a seat for him amongst the older boys when they eat. makes sure his bedroll doesnt end up too far from the fire. aegialus braids his hair for him before they seige thebes.

but then aegialus is gone, ripped apart in a chariot wreck with the theban prince laodamas. diomedes almost is the one to put aegialus out of his misery, but then sthenelus is there, tugging him away from the carnage.

sthenelus, who is so excited with the summons to aulis comes. talking about glory and honor and trojan gold. and diomedes is older, more capapble now, and it feels good to be on the battlefield with his brother. for a while. yet suddenly its been a decade and the infighting is ridiculous - but he can vent to sthenelus about it and sthenelus hates it too. sthenelus still braids his hair before they dive into battle so that it doesnt get too matted with blood. diomedes brings back the horses of aeneas almost as a gift to sthenelus, to make their chariot faster, better. they watch each others backs. sthenelus sits in silence with diomedes after odysseus tries to kill him in cold blood.

sthenelus volunteers to go in the wooden horse since diomedes and odysseus had a falling out.

sthenelus is mortally wounded by a son of priam in the sacking, and its diomedes who has to finish him off so that he doesnt die slowly and painfully.

and its just. what if you had two brothers who taught you everything and kept you safe and were there for you even though they werent really your brothers at all. and what if they died. and what if you almost had to kill one and did have to kill the other. and then after that you find out your not-nephew usurped your throne. OUGH.

Putting this here because i don’t want to keep yapping about something nobody knows about in discord servers (sorry arKAJve ily)

ANYWAY. I was thinking about Gambämark as I tend to do, and then Kurt and Josua’s relationship and THEN. The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals (from here on out: TGWDLM)

Specifically: Not Your Seed. And sure, it’s not perfect, there is no weird alien shit taking over peoples brains and making them sing in Gambämark but. enough of the lyrics work I think..

I think the thing that brought this to me in the first place was the same kind of theme with kid ‘runs off’ in one way or another with someone (Juntton in this case, Alice’s girlfriend in TGWDLM) and by the time the parent gets to them again it’s a little too late to change the kids attitude, strong ‘i am NOT the same kid you knew.’ energy

‘You left me out of your sight for one second/ And look what happens…’ Josua starts spending less time at home, and the next time he’s seen, it’s in the context of a rebellion against Kurt (might not directly be the next time i guess but if memory serves what WE see, kurt doesn’t see Josua until their caught in the freezer after he banished Mäskis-Gunnar)

‘And if you actually payed attention to me’ I believe that Kurt is VERY caught up in Gambämark and has expeditions for Josua taht he’ll follow in his footsteps, regardless of what he may actually want and care about

and in relations to mothers: Bill in TGWDLM had divorced his wife and is seemingly always trying to one up her in how he parents Alice which seems to be ALL he thinks about whenever she’s at his, and while there is no mention of Josua’s mother (because he birthed him) (what who said that) i personally chose to believe that she either died somewhere along the line or saw that Gambämark maybe wasn’t going to end up as great as Kurt believes it too and dips, either way Kurt has got some kind of anger/ sadness towards her which could very easily affect his parenting

‘No matter what you believe/ The apples fallen far from the tree’ Kurt’s little dream (not the right word but bare with) sequence after Josua calls him out for neglecting his own rules, include Josua saying ‘You’re not my father anymore’ or smth along those lines, and doesn’t want to be like him if he’s actively ignoring everything (everyome?) he believed in and loved (because i do believe that Kurt stuck to that shit like it was the bible at its conception)

The song ends with Alice’s character ‘dying’ which is Bills biggest fear, he does love her, it’s clear enough for us to see, but like Kurt, doesn’t quite go about showing that in any clear and obvious way that doesn’t feel controlling for the kid, and ends up just breeding contempt

But that is where the similarities end, where TGWDLM turns to the whole town getting taken over by the (woke) mind virus, Gambämark has a significantly better ending in which Kurt is finally like ‘oh yeah. so maybe i was a twat actually sorry gang!’ and they lived happily ever after or whatever idk

I truly believe Will Wood is an incredible musician and songwriter and is one of the top lyricists in the last decade both in and outside of the genres that he chooses to play in with absolutely zero irony. I also believe that you can only fully understand that if you’ve either had a pet die before listening to his music or you have a history of drug abuse and mental health crises. Or you’re trans.
