off topic from echoes of wisdom but i feel like sometimes people forget that the very first link in the legend of zelda series, the hero of hyrule himself, defeated ganon not with the help of the triforce of courage but with the help of the triforce of wisdom. that's very much what makes him stand out from all the other links (that and his sheer innate magical ability—there is not a single other link in the series who was capable of magic on the same level as the hero of hyrule was). or maybe people just don't pay attention to the original two games but i do and the hero of hyrule is definitely up there on the list of my favorite links.

I won't deny the fun angst of an outcast and maligned hero, but there really is something exquisite about the hero loved too much. He is beloved as The One Who Made It Out, he's a symbol of Victory Over Darkness, he's the hope of the land, he's a sign and blessing and miracle from your gods that they still tend to you, he's The One Who Saved Everyone, and if he dies now then everyone does. He's every son that didn't get to grow up, and he's the reasons new ones will know peace, so of course you'd love him like a son. You'd die for him, like a son, like every son combined. But he's not just a son. He's a Hero. And you aren't allowed to die for those. So this hero isn't left, abandoned, betrayed, forgotten or hated. He's the one who must leave, again and again, to always be a hero nothing less nothing more, to not allow himself to be a son, to not allow himself to become something kept safe. Not just because it might be a trap, but because it might be genuine, and the land and the story can't take either.

❛ here, take this. you’ll catch a cold. ❜ from cyrillo for sa <3 he's being a lil gentleman <3
𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐌 𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐔𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐒 / Accepting // @tvrningout
At first, in the brief time it takes, she thinks she's just going to hold his coat for him— then it's sitting on her shoulders instead, and she feels her brain crack against the front of her skull and start spinning.
She blinks. Blinks again.
Warm is her first thought, and her second is to carefully grip it close. She's not one for the finer things in life, no, but she recognizes them, and just because they're above and beyond her doesn't mean she can't care for them properly (particularly when they're not even hers).
"I'll be fine," she assures him, heaving a sigh. Pointedly, she lifts her other hand and flame briefly erupts from it. Briefly, because as soon as its there she lets it fade, eyes blue as ever, and drops her arm back down.
"A little cold won't kill me, so why don't you head back inside?" she's wearing all the coats right now, after all.
