its so fascinating how the narrator is so aware of whats happening but as like. a very static thing. the situation is Only this, the princess is Just that, there is Always a cabin and there is Always a pristine blade. the Second smth goes awry hes completely off guard.

hes so stubborn and single minded that he outright goes "nuh uh" when you try to tell him otherwise. hes accepted so many things as fact that he cant comprehend change. like he outright refuses to sometimes. he never lingers on things that dont directly link to the task at hand. he literally does not care about anything else.

you cant reason with him, you cant suggest other things, you cant Talk to him. he doesnt really care about the long quiet or the shifting mound as people. they're tools to him. means to an end. and he cant Grow to care about them. bc hes dead.

like. i think him being dead is such an important part of his character. dead men cant change. dead men cant be reasoned with. dead men cannot be talked down. hes not even a dead man, hes an Echo of a dead man. hes so incapable of change he completely dismisses a version of himself that at least Considered he might be wrong.
