It's been raining a lot here lately, the clouds turn to this really nice sea-green color, so I wanted to make something inspired off of that! The music used here is "Learning Spy". I was listening to it while coloring n thought it suited the rain-vibes nicely.
For around six months now I've been living next to an actual real life archive, and it's unnervingly similar to TMA! Here's a few notable things from these past months:
-i watched a balding man in a very posh suit carry a massive antique briefcase out of the building and put it into his car at 4am
-at 12:30am i made direct eye contact with someone working at a computer on a floor I'd never seen anyone go before. (there's a section of car park and pavement between my building and the archive so this was pretty impressive! )
-The smoking area is always full at weirdly specific hours of day and night (presumably breaks), and completely empty the rest of the time. Clearly archiving really does encourage a smoking habit!
-one of the floors has really bright LED lights which were left on day and night for a week, then off for four days, and now are on with every single blind closed.
-for the first few months I only ever saw three people go in or out of the building- a generic looking security guard who yells at people that park in front of the entrance; and a dishevelled looking man, pursued by another man from the smoking area.
-from my window I can see directly into a room that's filled with mannequins! I couldn't tell what they were at first due to the sheer amount, but they range from cpr dummies to full body mannequins.
-despite being able to see many desks I've only consistently seen two people working at them.
-the fire alarm once went off for hours and nobody evacuated.
-recently at 3am I watched a security guard from the building come out to feed bagels to the fox in the car park (not really that relevant but I thought it was quite nice)
-two of the windows have humanlike figures in them at all times, but they're impossible to focus on so I have no idea what they are.

okay before I lose my thought (MASSIVE Rise of the Beasts spoilers re: Unicron)
in my opinion rotb handled Unicron perfectly.
when I first watched the full trailer & saw Unicron my second thought was "oh no" (my first being "YOOOOOO") because in the bumblebee-rotb timeline it seemed extremely early to be involving him. I went into the movie almost resigning myself to the thought that it would end with Unicron being destroyed & never seen again, because he was advertised as the main Big Bad.
but the truth is, Scourge was the main Big Bad. and while Unicron made several appearances and had more than one line, the primary thing he did was loom over the narrative like the slow approach of death - he did more than haunting the narrative, I think, but aside from his interactions with the Terrorcons and his arrival at the final scene, he was largely uninvolved in the main conflict, and was in the end defeated momentarily rather than destroyed.
what we did see of him was always displays of power: the destruction of the Maximals' homeworld, his ability to supply the battlefield with endless Terrorcon footsoldiers, his mindscape-meeting with Scourge wherein he tortured Scourge for failing him from Primus knows how far away. hell, even Scourge, Battletrap, and Nightbird themselves were living proof of Unicron's power - ruthless, near-invincible supersoldiers who've killed enough Cybertronians and Cybertronian-adjacent lifeforms to steal and wear their badges like a bounty hunter collects trophies. on-screen all of this is done through Unicron's power, the extension of his will - and not, notably, by Unicron himself.
this wasn't Unicron's moment to shine, only to be destroyed so early in the narrative.
this was the moment that painted a target on Earth, and on Optimus Prime. this was the moment that established how Unicron is accustomed to taking thralls from other worlds while also killing off the ones he already had, laying the potential groundwork for Galvatron or even Sideways. this was the moment that showed off just how powerful Unicron and his allies are without cramming it into the first fifteen minutes of another movie down the line, and when he appears again we'll already know just how fucked the protagonists are.
this was the setup to Unicron's moment to shine. though I'd hoped Unicron would get more screentime, rotb ultimately handled Unicron with the severity he deserves; for that, it was perfect.
sidenote: I got very big "then perish" vibes at the end of the movie, when Unicron said smth like "think about this, Prime. I could give you anything you want." and Optimus responded with "then DIE!!". it was dramatic in the moment but remembering it got me a good laugh

something you need to know abt me is that im extremely scared of artificial voices (think siri, alexa, any voice on gps thingies while driving) and no one believed me when the alexa changed voices one night, even tho i froze in place and all the hairs in my body stand up...
anyway, i'm also terrified of blonde and not really human faces... like that mix specifically (think "i feel fantastic" lady android, max headroom and the first mask of "possibly in michigan")
is there anybody else who can handle gore entirely fine unless it's written? it's not that i expressly can't read written gore it's just that i get phantom feelings trying to visualize it, versus visual gore i like... see what happens so it doesn't matter to me. anybody with me
ok wait also bj is a fucked up gremlin of a man and 99% of that energy is directed at hawkeye like he’s the jumped up petty jock who keeps pulling on pigtails, because he never learned to analyse his own emotions
the fact that he basically launched a concentrated “lets make hawkeye so paranoid that he essentially doesn’t sleep for a whole day and night and then get him to undress on a table in public while singing ‘you’re the tops’” campaign just because hawkeye told him he wasn’t as funny as trapper is
Whole sentence here and it's all inside a VR game (unless it's an AR game because obviously those are interchangeable) so he's not even necessarily real, but I nominate Henry the Helper Bot for also being rescued from Tubehell.
Now THIS is what I'm talking about!!!
BEHOLD!!! THE LATEST ROBOT RESCUED FROM TUBEHELL!!!
HELPER BOT HENRY!!! THE TRIANGULAR HELPER BOT THAT HOLDS A BROOM, HAS SPATULA-LIKE APPENDAGES AND MAKES LITTLE BURPING NOISES!!!
They are now safe and will be well loved, as they deserve. Thank you for your service in fishing Henry out of the Tubes! (‘-‘*ゞ
so many fics about armando going to cartagena or armando finding out she knows about the letter but not ONE fic about betty agreeing to get in the car with armando at inesita's to avoid nicolas getting the shit beat out of him. not a single one. not one fic about them having a yelling match in his car like a couple at a cvs parking lot.
