any n headcannons?

Hmm I'm not usually a headcannon-y sort of person, but I'll throw out a few of mine!

-I see him as 100% aroace. He has no interest in romance and would rather have strong platonic connections instead. I don't think he ever developed a need for a relationship, and would rather dedicate his time to creating a better future for people and pokemon.

-Because he is so smart, he often gets bored. Likes to spend his free time doing brain puzzles, sudokus, and other thinking games for the fun of it.

-He is ambidextrous (cause why not lol)

-He is incredibly close with his sisters Anthea and Concordia, especially once they are away from Ghetsis. They get to be a bit more silly around each other and their true personalities shine outside of the roles they were pushed into as children.

-He is incredibly selfless, but has a lot of scars due to the injuries he gets protecting other people/pokemon from harm. Especially from the events that happen in the anime/manga (My poor boy :c)

-Absolutely loves to ride trains. Whenever he rides one he sits by the window and his eyes are just glued to the passing landscapes in wonder. Has probably read a lot of books on the mechanics of different machines too

-Alder becomes a caring father figure to him. I will die on this dynamic

The rumour that he's a Zoroark in disguise was started by his own Zoroark, albeit by accident.

Is very good at navigating forests, but has the rather odd habit of getting stuck in trees (Zekrom has long lost count of many times they've had to fish him out of a canopy.)

Deep down, he is terrified that he's no better than Ghetsis.

Due to being raised in a "bubble" for most of his life, his immune system isn't the best. He does have a stomach of iron, though.

Likes tea, and will read just about anything.

Very curious by nature.

Tends to scare the living daylights out of people accidentally; he's really tall, but also moves very quietly. People have been spooked by him more than once, and his friends and family are starting to think that belling him like a cat Pokémon would be a good idea.

Can't handle caffeine. At all. (It is a very good thing that Colress' concoction known as "The Insomnia Shot" was so terrible that the brew was dumped and the recipe burned; otherwise, there might not be much of Unova left.)

Is the Bruce Wayne of Pokémon: he will adopt anyone who needs it (paperwork isn't always involved, but, as far as Alder is concerned, family isn't defined by paper or blood).

Cannot garden to save his life; he is the bane of plantlife.

Likes the smell of coffee, but doesn't like the taste.

Enjoys board and card games; can't wrap his head around anything to do with electronics.

Alder isn't violent by nature - he prefers to talk things out, rather than throwing punches. He will, however, make an exception with Ghetsis, should the need arise.

ooh. okay. where to start...

BOTH:

Adopted at age 11 solely for the purpose of taking care of N.

Concerningly good liars.

They were best friends as children and by the time of BW, but they fought a lot as teenagers.

Persistent fear of not being useful enough, even after getting away from Ghetsis.

Serious issues with expressing emotion to or trusting anyone except each other.

They both love N very much, but are scared to refer to him as family until sometime after they reunite post-BW2.

ANTHEA:

Aroace and genderqueer; uses mirror pronouns once he discovers them

Loves Pokémon battling, and has really good instincts for it--like "could have been a champion if she'd had the opportunity to go on a journey" good

She's a healer because Ghetsis wanted one of them to have basic medical knowledge so he wouldn't have to bring in doctors any more than necessary--fewer strange adults means fewer chances for N to be exposed to outside ideas. Thea doesn't like the stress of being a healer, but doesn't know what else to do with itself.

Has an unflinching determination that humans are good (because she decided that her siblings needed her to)

Was the first to figure out that Ghetsis was lying to them

Likes Bug-type Pokémon and cozy clothing.

CONCORDIA:

Cisgender bisexual.

Kind of hates that her name is just the same goddess twice; generally goes by "Connie"

Doesn't show emotion strongly, and tends to look/sound calm and level even when she's not.

Always alert to information and rumors, and has a tendency to snoop and eavesdrop that she clings to for a long time even once they're out of the castle.

Living under Ghetsis has seriously messed up her sense of self-esteem; she considers herself a bad person for the things she had to do to survive in Team Plasma, and for failing at being a good caretaker (cut yourself some slack girl you had no good examples and were 11)

anyway hi! i wanted to post scenes from my original story but you guys dont have context, so i wrote down the entire plot last night. Here it is, four pages of fuckery!

Prologue explores senator Tritny Silver. We get a glimpse into her past and how she became senator. We meet the other senators. We see her make the law, although it is not clear what the law is yet to the reader. 

We cut to ash. Ash is a poor but blissfully happy ten year old child living in a gross trailer park, kind of like adam parrish. Ash gets home from hanging out with his friend and his parents tell him about the law, which we find out in all its horror- families must ship out one child to work in the country’s army. In ash’s case this is tonetra, the country run by surprise surprise- tritny silver

So ash leaves and is reasonably distressed. 

And then we cut to xander

Except xander has already been shipped out and he’s on the train to rankolay

(rankolay has been famously attacking tonetra in bombing and attacks)

There is a girl on the train with him. Her name is Anthea Jackson and she helps Xander escape by jumping off the train into Grifixth. Xander is Okay (I promise). He finds a homeless shelter and stays there for as long as possible. 

and then we cut to anthea because of course she is important and appears again

Anthea is just chillin in the train, resigned to her fate when Cricket comes onto the train and talks to her. He recruits her for the Underground Society, which is a group run by Prentiss Amtrite (former Representative (like the leader under the Senator) of Rankolay with Mikael Feliks) focused on taking out the senators

nEW POV we meet Diana, who works with the Rankoliks. Her mom and dad are trusted workers there, and Diana learns of her mother’s plans to launch a bomb onto Grifixth. Of course Diana is Not Cool with this and decides to stop her mother from releasing the bomb

On her way to stop her mom and destroy the bomb she runs into Kaylah, who is trying to sneak in to dismantle the bomb aLSO because she was eavsdropping and wanted to stop it

(they are both sapphics but im bad at writing that stuff so it is not directly stated) 

They don’t end up dismantaling the bomb (remember, it is going to decimate Grifixth! And that is where Xander is!)

Cut back to Ash, because he is great and also aroace

He is sixteen now! time skip who lmao

He is best friends with a guy in the tonetran army with him, who is called Finley. Finley is a sweet bean who deserves the world, and Ash is also a sweet bean who deserves the world. They are a pot of smushed mashed refried beans that deserve the world. They should hold it together I think

Their general who is named Soleil tells them to go investigate what Rankolay is up to because ever since the Bombing Of Grifixth a few years ago, they have had muted activity and basically are being very sus. Sussy bakas. Anyway sol is like ‘go investigate, because you guys are stupid and expendable’ so ash and finley go, and,,, yeah they get captured. No surprises there. The rankoliks experiment on them to see what superhuman powers they will get so they can inject it into tHEIR armies for the war vs tonetra that is Soon To Come. 

Finley is shot trying to escape, (spoiler alert he dies) and Ash manages to escape, after the scientists who captured them injected the weird stuff in his veins. Originally I had him get powers after this but now I’ve just decided it heightens all his senses to an insane degree

Ash escapes!

Cut back in time to Kaylah and Diana, who meet Xander where all the prisoners are (because YEAH HE GOT CAPTURED TOO. ALL THESE GUYS ARE DUMB WHAT THE SHIT) (but seriously it was because after the bombing rankolay looked for survivors and they found him) 

(Diana and Kaylah free him :D) 

The trio rescues a bunch of other Rankolik prisoners (including but not limited to: Oliver, Alister, Prism, Lia, and others if i remember) 

One of the prisoners (monalee sampson who spoiler alert is general soleil’s sister) has a house that belonged to her late aunt that is still intact in the part of grifixth that wasn’t completely destroyed by the bomb. They go there for refuge. Mona’s aunt called it the Mission, so that is what it is referred to throughout the book. 

Cut back to Anthea, who is meeting Prentiss. Prentiss is basically like ‘are you good’ and anthea says yes and so now they work together to assassin people yay

Cut back to the present AKA the timeline with Ash and by now it is far enough in the future that the Mission is an established organization. Ash sees a poster for it and decides to go there to hide. It is good because it seems like Mona’s adopting a new kid every minute. Shes only 23 good god she cant handle these 29 adolescents 

Xander opens the door and is a little bitch to Ash but Ash is not dettered! He instead is depressed and insistent because Xander for fucks sake his best friend in the world just got shot to death by the enemy let him in good lord

EVERYONE IN THE MISSION (besides kaylah and diana) has heightened senses from the rankoliks, some at a worrying degree

Mona does let him stay because she’s much nicer than I will ever be and because she has more time than i ever will

Heres the deal on the key players in the mission:

Kaylah: nice. She’s very very nice. Compassionate. A bit of a doormat person. Doglike personality.

Diana: Cynical but overall pretty chill. Likes computers, and also sleep. Does not give a fuck about 80% of her adopted siblings. Kind of like tori from heartstopper but older ig 

Alister: sweetest guy alive. Always asking how he can help. Very smart and the peacemaker of the house. Best friends with Prism, for some reason. 

Prism: largest asshole to walk the earth. Lost her brother to the rankoliks and they werent able to free him in time when they escaped. She thinks this makes her entitled to be a dick. It does not. She is Mean

Mona: runs the place! Empath and also a little bit overwhelmed 24/7, which is reasonable. She should hire a babysitter tbh. Always rushing all over the place. 

Anyway 

Ash meets the fam and basically is very tired and wants to be left alone which is fair because his best friend just died and hes overwhelmed as fuck

Cut to xander! Timelines have now aligned and there will be no more time jumping

He tells mona about how the Underground Society contacted him today to ask about pairing up to murder Senator Mikael Feliks (because hes an asshole and a shit leader) (remember what I said about the Mission being sort of influential now?) 

Mona rejects them because even though feliks is a bad leader, his Representative is even worse and she doesnt want him to take over office

Anyway prentiss demands an audience anyway so monas like FINE and Xander goes with her to meet with the underground society including Anthea and Cricket. Anthea is like OMG ITS YOU TRAIN BOY and Xander doesnt recognize her because its been like four-ish years, christ, but she still knows who he is. Anyway they do resolve not to kill Feliks (with much convincing) 

We have a couple depressing Ash flashbacks for filler (and to get more of a feeling of who Finley was when he was alive. So we can be sadder that he died.) 

While mona and Xander are meeting with the US prism is negotiating with the rankoliks to get her brother back

(she told them that if she gave them the mission’s location, they would give her her brother)

Anyway xander and mona get back and the whole place blows up (thanks prism!) 

Mona dies. She is the only casualty and the only mother some of them have ever known. Kaylah is taken! Prism also does not get her brother back, because the rankoliks were lying all along. 

Xander is Pissed and shoves Prism off a cliff

(she’s saved by Alister!) (no she doesn't die. Yes she's still an asshole but now she feels Shame) (good) 

They go to save Kaylah, all 29-ish of them. They resolve that the only way to save the world from the Labs forever is to blow them all up. Diana goes on a killing spree and murders all the guards. Alister helps her. Then Diana goes to rescue Kaylah 

She sees her mom as she’s going back. (atm Xander is hooking up the dynamite)

Her mom tries to convince her to come back home. Diana says no and drops the match. 

She, her mom, and the Labs all go up in an explosion. 

(she dies.)

Epilogue. dinner time at the mission. Everyone minus diana and mona are at the table.

I and the rest of Unova are very lucky to  have him as our king. He deserves everything he has. And I will do anything to see him smile.”

“My relationship with Colress is complicated as in, I respect his knowledge and talents but he’s got a real shitty personality. Not just Aether either! It seems like every Colress I meet has the same attitude!”

“I’m great at lying! Even Ghetsis can’t tell if I’m lying! It’s one of the first lessons taught in the family~”

Colress

“I’m not aroace. I’m just a busy person. I grew up in an important family, I had my studies to focus on and I’m the lead scientist in the project I have going on for Ghetsis. I don’t have time for relationships. It’s not a complaint. I do love my life and my work and I wouldn’t change it for anything.”

“My relationship with my father was never the same after…certain events. He says he forgives me but I know he doesn’t. The tone of his voice, the look in his eyes…I even overheard a few conversations he had with my mother that I was never meant to hear. I wish he would just say that he’s upset to my face instead of avoiding the topic.”

When I moved from Alola to Unova, I was partially upset because I wouldn’t be able to see my niece and nephew as often. But when I met Ghetsis’ children, my homesickness died down. “I want to go for a higher education. Maybe I’ll be a historian or an archaeologist. I don’t know yet. Just something history related. I want to solve the mystery of the Abyssal Ruins and where the Ideal line went.”

“One time I heard dad sing and when he noticed me, he went silent and white. It wasn’t the singing itself. It was the lyrics. They were about leaving some place...it was years ago so I can be wrong. He got reaaaaaal defensive and told me to never tell anyone but I think he forgot so its fine now.”

You already know I ship this one, haha. I’m not super passionate about it because there are other (albeit platonic) relationships that I have my interest and attention far more, but I do still like it and it’s canon as far as I’m concerned. They come together and make a nice family with their respective children. It’s good. ♥

Lea/N:

9 = I REALLY like this ship and it should be/is canon!

. . . Kiiiiiiind of. I’m extremely picky about this, in a lot of different ways.

First of all, in my eyes, this is far more of a QPP than a romantic ship at this point. Lea, I’ve come to realize, is aroace (maaaybe demiromantic, but mmh), and I see N as demiromantic demisexual. So it’s not going to be a typical romance, particularly since N spent the first nineteen years of his life underground and still has so much to learn about human relationships. The most experience he has with human relationships are with his older half-sisters, Concordia and Anthea, and really he barely has a relationship with Anthea anymore after Ghetsis forbade her from spending time around N after she showed N an unauthorized book. (This is all headcanon / canon to my ‘verse, of course, but that’s how I answer these questions, heh.) Aside from the two of them, the Shadow Triad was also assigned to work as his personal retainers once he went up to the surface, but even then, that’s not really a friendship. They’re more his babysitters than anything, and their true loyalty is to Ghetsis because he saved their lives (and they don’t know that he’s the entire reason they were in that miserable situation to begin with---that he created the situation he had to “save” them from). Once he gets to the surface and meets Lea and the others, he starts clumsily navigating what it is to interact with other human beings, on top of learning about things like various forms of media and pop culture. At the risk of bursting into the song from Aladdin, it’s a whole new world for him, and so at the end of the first game he’s really not in a position to enter a romantic relationship of any kind, with anyone. He’s still learning what it is to have friendships with other humans.

Meanwhile, Lea has a ton of more experience when it comes to interacting with people, particularly given that she grew up with Cheren and Bianca as her best friends. That said, she’s still . . . Lea . . . and is aroace on top of it, so it’s not as if she’s really looking for romance, either.

But either way, they do have a very special and important bond, especially since they come to help each other realize that the world isn’t just in black and white, that there are shades of grey, that both of them have points on their side of the argument, they’re both right and wrong at the same time. Lea comes to realize that there are people who abuse and mistreat pokémon despite having Licenses, that there is a lot of work that needs to be done for pokémon welfare, that just assuming that pokémon have enough rights as it is is wrong. But N, likewise, comes to realize that not all humans are evil, that there are a lot of benefits to relationships between humans and pokémon for both sides, that the world can only truly be beautiful if these two existences come together to work in harmony. Through all of the shouting, the insults, the battling, and the fights---as well as all of the times that they interest and intrigue each other, and make each other laugh and have fun---N and Lea help each other reach these conclusions and meet in the middle. They challenge each other and ram heads more than once, but that’s precisely what helps each of them grow as people. And I think that, once Lea finally tracks him down (which in my ‘verse happens between the two stories) and they spend time traveling together, their bond could grow and deepen to the point where it reaches QPP status. 

But that said, as I said, I’m still extremely picky about it. 99% of the time I hate how it’s portrayed in fanworks that aren’t created by myself, because Lea is very often portrayed as a Generic Shoujo Heroine while N is the Broody Bishounen Prince, or a Total Woobie Manchild who can’t take care of himself. I find all of these portrayals to be very OoC for both of them. Granted, the player character can be whatever you want her to be, but I have such a strong vision of her in my head that I really just can’t be happy with portrayals that differ from that, you know? And anyway, I far prefer to see the two of them as equals, which they should be, and also to see N recognized as the King he was raised to believe he is, the one who can be petulant and impatient at times, but who is still so strong-willed and determined and knows what he wants even if he has been lied to about certain aspects of it. Both Lea and N are incredibly stubborn, determined individuals, but that’s precisely what makes them work. So when it’s not portrayed like that, I don’t like it. I find it cliché, boring, and OoC.

. . . so tl;dr, it’s a 9, but only in specific circumstances, and even then more of a QPP, heh.

Steven/Wallace:

9 = I REALLY like this ship and it should be/is canon!

ORAS made me ship this where I didn’t before. I can’t remember exactly what did it (though I’m pretty sure that Steven asking Wallace to temporarily cover for him as Champion and the banter that followed there was a part of it), but I do know that something in that game convinced me that they’re together, and I like to see them as childhood friends who grew into the romance they have now. As far as I’m concerned, they’re married.
