It's the little things that hurts.
The way people don't get you can't do the things they do, at least without costing you so much.
The way the doors of shops or buildings used to fly open at the slightest touch and now they seems to weight a hundred tons.
The way my mother in law asked me if I wanted orange juice and when I said yes she put two oranges and a old manual juicer. I was too ashamed to admit how much it would cost me to do it this way. So I did it, fighting the tears and then couldn't use my arm for a week.
The way I can't get out of my apartment sometimes because even if there is a lift, there's also stairs between my apartment door and the lift and between the lift and the building door. Why make a lift at all if it's not even accessible because of the stairs? (I can't move out. I have neither the money nor the spoons.)
The way the new building the local bookshop moved into makes things so much harder for me than the old one. There was so much unused stairs that I could sit and rest for as long as I needed. Now in the new building the stairs are so narrow you can't think of sitting on them, you'll just block the way. And there's no chair or bench anywhere in this 4 stories building. You just can't sit and rest there.
The way the city is getting rid of public benches and putting in their stead blocks of concrete with metal spikes on them to dissuade homeless people to sleep on them, which is wrong on its own, but also impacts disabled people. There's less and less places where to sit and rest during a walk through the city.
It's people laughing when I can't open a bottle of soda.
It's people gossiping behind my back, saying "oh they are a junky" because I takes so many meds, including the ones for the pain, but not only for that.
It's me being too ashamed to be disabled at a relatively young age and having an invisible disability. It's me being too ashamed to ask for accommodations. It's me being too ashamed to ask for a seat in the bus when all of them are already taken. It's the society making me ashamed of myself.
It's life itself, mocking me, and the world joining in the good laugh at my expense.

PSA About Ibuprofen: Please Read
i know it's become a joke on this website to talk about taking ibuprofen over the smallest inconveniences, and i just wanted to say while it's not bad to take ibuprofen, please be careful with it. it is in a class of drug called non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs, which all carry a risk of stomach bleeding, ulceration, and damage:
Tumblr media
i was put in the emergency room for a bleeding stomach ulcer and have life-long stomach problems due to another drug in this class called Naproxen. most people don't seem to know about this very real potential danger that comes with using this medication regularly.
every time you take ibuprofen, please make sure you eat a heavy snack or light meal before you take it. i'm serious. this may sound like an over-cautious measure, but you do not want to ruin your stomach over a very middling pain/fever relief drug.
if you find that you regularly take ibuprofen, i highly recommend seeking professional help (if possible) for your pain, as it is NOT normal to have to take ibuprofen regularly, nor is it good for your stomach or other organs for that matter. if you can't seek medical help, i highly advise you to reduce how much you take ibuprofen and see if it is safe for you to substitute some of that with acetamenophin/tylenol. tylenol IS hard on the liver, so not everyone can take this, but it is NOT an NSAID, which means it does not carry the risk of stomach bleeding.
i know we like to joke on here but this can really hurt you if you're not careful. please ALWAYS read the labels for EVERY medication you take, even seemingly "Safe" ones like ibuprofen and tylenol. they are NOT "safe", especially when taken in ways they are not even intended to be taken. thank you for your time.

I will never understand why some people find it acceptable to give me a dirty look for being young and using a cane or a rollator. You try to do everything that is expected of you while having a rotated hip and joints that give you excruciating pain, I’m not using this for fun.

Painsomnia plus middle of the night bath is such a classic chronic pain combo. I mean, what else am I to do? Just lie there, consumed by my own pain? I'd rather be soup.

Why is it always “You wear knee braces?” “Why are you wearing those?” “Do you really NEED those?” and never “I like your knee braces.” “Your knee braces make you look cutie.”

Top 5 Ways to Get Relief from Arthritis Pain Naturally
Introduction:
Arthritis, a common condition affecting millions of people worldwide, can significantly impact one's quality of life by causing chronic pain and inflammation in the joints. While medical treatments are available, many individuals seek natural remedies to manage arthritis pain. Here are the top five ways to find relief from arthritis joint pain naturally.
Regular Exercise: Engaging in regular, low-impact exercises is crucial for managing arthritis pain. Activities such as swimming, walking, and gentle yoga can help improve joint flexibility and reduce stiffness. Exercise also promotes the production of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, providing relief from arthritis symptoms. It is essential to consult with a healthcare professional or a physical therapist to develop a personalized exercise plan tailored to individual needs and limitations.
Maintain a Healthy Diet: A balanced and anti-inflammatory diet can play a significant role in managing arthritis pain naturally. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts, have anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce joint pain. Additionally, incorporating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can provide essential nutrients that support joint health. Limiting processed foods, sugar, and saturated fats can also contribute to overall well-being.
Hot and Cold Therapies: Applying heat or cold to affected joints can offer relief from arthritis pain. Warm compresses or heating pads can help relax muscles and alleviate stiffness, while cold packs can reduce inflammation and numb the pain. Alternating between hot and cold therapies, known as constrast therapy, can be particularly effective. It's important to use these therapies with caution, avoiding extremes in temperature to prevent skin damage.
Herbal Remedies and Supplements: Several herbs and supplements have shown promise in reducing arthritis symptoms. Turmeric, containing the active compound curcumin, possesses anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger and green tea are also known for their potential to alleviate pain and inflammation. Additionally, supplements like glucosamine and chondroitin may help support joint health, although individual responses vary. Before incorporating any herbal remedies or supplements into a routine, consulting with a healthcare professional is advisable.
Mind-Body Techniques: Stress and anxiety can exacerbate arthritis symptoms, making it essential to incorporate mind-body techniques for relaxation and stress management. Practices such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, and guided imagery can help reduce stress and, consequently, alleviate arthritis pain. These techniques not only enhance mental well-being but also contribute to overall pain management.
Conclusion: While arthritis may be a persistent condition, incorporating these natural approaches into a daily routine can provide significant relief from pain and improve the overall quality of life. It's crucial for individuals with arthritis to work closely with healthcare professionals to develop a comprehensive plan that addresses their unique needs and ensures a holistic approach to managing the condition.

if you catch covid-19, chronic health problems like arthritis, fibromyalgia, hypermobile ehlers danlos, irritable bowel syndrome, other gastrointestinal issues, asthma, respiratory diseases, and other chronic pain problems may flare up very strongly while you are ill. it can be alarming and especially for respiratory issues, it's important to monitor your health and how you are doing.
however don't feel totally isolated in having a flare up due to covid- my arthritis, fibro and hypermobile eds flared up for several days making it very hard for me to stand or lay down from pain and hurting my joints. take it easy and focus on recovery.
