Ahh, Sparks !! Hello again! (Hope it's alright if I call you that-)

I stabbed myself whilst thinking of it, so recoil damage hehe.

And he would, eventually. It would be 'round when Mac and Wukong have been dating for a while. Wukong had listened to him bitch about how messy his storage situation was and he had a free day, so he offered to help Mac out. While organizing all the boxes, when Mac stepped out to get refreshments, he would stumble upon a tattered box filled with papers and folders; the restraint to not read them lasted about two seconds after seeing the word Peaches on one of the papers. Long story short, once Mac comes back, he finds Wukong close to sobbing (he'd only gotten through the hating Wukong Era poetry at that point) whilst holding a particularly depressing poem. His first instincts are to burn every single page out of embarrassment, but Wukong stops him. He somehow convinces Mac to let him take a few letters every week to read, though very reluctantly.

Afterward, Wukong would press some of his favorites in a little book to keep with him. As well as asking for new poems on his birthday. Mac would also begin leaving tiny notes in Wukong's work bag, in his blazer pocket, on his bedside table whenever he knows he's having a particularly bad day.

Wukong would do similar things, but more action wise than with words in typical Wukong fashion :)

Putting Ford in a wandavision scenario is honestly so inspired. Ford loves his niece and nephew so much and has some level of fatherly instincts (seen with him wanting to raise the shapeshifter baby in journal 3) so Bill giving him kids to get attached to is so fucking good.

How do the kids work actually? Are they just figments that bill is puppeting directly or do they sort of function on their own, similar to the beings in Mabel’s bubble?

I'm so glad you like it, anon I honestly didn't think anyone would take interest in this so it means a lot that people are. Those are definitely a part of the reason behind this! Well, loving his Niece and Nephew, I won't claim I've read the third book. But this man Loves his family, straight up pulled a gun on a bus driver so his niece could bring her pig home. Love right there. But yeah, I have a friend describe the kids as Bill providing enrichment for Ford, and I love that dearly lol The kids(I realize I never mentioned their names in the post, so they're Caesar and Dorabella, after Ciphers cause puns) are more like the beings in Mabel's bubble for sure! They do their own thing, starting out as simple personalities and 'designs' that evolve over time. Such as gaining interests in new things they're exposed to, and changing how they act, behave, and even how their body works as they gain new knowledge and everything like that. I'm not sure if I explained that last part very good. I guess an example would be they initially didn't react to pain, so think of them getting hurt in a bike accident or falling, even big injuries like a broken arm wouldn't get a reaction until they learned they should through Ford's reactions and media like books, movies, etc.. A constantly evolving being.

That being said, they are still just a creation of Bill, despite becoming something more than their initial creation both purpose and traits wise. So he can look through their eyes and such to monitor Ford, if needed, but he usually doesn't actively control either one of them, he has other things to do. I can see him doing it sometimes though, or at least influencing their actions to guilt Ford into staying and such. On that last part(Apologies for the long reply anon), being Bill's creations he can also get rid of them at the drop of a hat. And Ford, well, he's AttachedTM. These are his kids despite being fake, they've grown and changed and he Has bonded with them

Unfortunate in that Bill can take them away if he feels as though it would make Ford behave, and also from what Ford has seen it doesn't seem they can leave the little 'bubble' of a town their in. So taking them and running is just not on the table. Very good motives to stay with risk of these kids he's bonded with being essentially erased if he doesn't. I did promise the friend I mentioned earlier I wouldn't have Bill perma delete them tho, so, unfortunately for Bill, he's a little attached himself. Don't let anyone know that. Those kids are theirs, his and Fords, it was inevitable. Not saying he hasn't temporarily done it when he deemed it necessary tho.

More thoughts on the Hetty plotline of “Holes are Bad”, put below the cut for spoilers/sensitive content:

Feeling so grateful that the writers didn’t just make Hetty’s death a ‘I was a woman trapped by my circumstances and killing myself to protect my child was So Noble And Brave Of Me’ thing like they hit on how she hoped to protect her son and how she was trapped but then still also made sure to go a step further and have Hetty acknowledge that regardless of if that had actually protected Thomas, she still knows now that she made a bad choice, and that a big part of it was not just her son but that she was so fucking unhappy in life and had no one and did not have the tools to deal with that and made a panicked, desperate decision that has haunted her ever since.

They don’t let it just be a single or easily digestible reason; they don’t give her an easy explanation or out for her choice, they treat it with nuance and such attention to her as a character in a way that I really can’t imagine any other show doing.

Basically, once again our writers are the best.

I think part of the strength of Simpsons characters is that they're more like folktales now than real characters. They've been told by (and to) so many different people, and it's the emotional core and social and familial roles of the characters that persist and speak to us across decades. It's like how Paul Bunyan is always Paul Bunyan whether he's ten feet tall or a hundred, just as long as he's strong and backwoods and heroic -- Homer Simpson is Homer Simpson whether he grew up a 70s teenage hippie or a 2000s mallrat, just as long as he still conveys fatherhood and American greed and spousal devotion.

They mold to the story while maintaining a consistent narrative purpose, and maintain their emotional power and point of connection while being malleable enough to meet each audience member exactly where they are.

It makes sense for characters that are a mirror to not just the storyteller but to three decades of audiences, characters that were born of a desire from lower middle class Americans to mock and satirize their world while also admitting that they loved it and loved their families that were a product of it. It's touching and it's endless and it's a much more consistent depiction of reality than anything realistic or consistent ever could be.

What's maybe a little more bizarre to me is that The Beatles seem to work the exact same way.

I realize that Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel are never going to cross over for anything but coy little easter eggs at most for legal reasons, but nevertheless my perfect scenario for how it would go down is that Hazbin Hotel’s part of the storyline culminates in the Big Epic Battle To End All Battles between Heaven and Hell… during all of which the whole Helluva Boss cast are fucking around up in the human world for completely unrelated reasons, perfectly oblivious the whole time. and then they cheerfully step through the portal back to Hell afterwards like ‘yo what’s UP losers we brought souveni — whAT THE ACTUAL FUCK’, troy coming back with pizza to a burning room meme style but the burning room is the entire cosmic world order as we’ve known it

This last one is an Italian sitcom that was really popular when I was a kid, and it's a riot! It's the everyday life of an old married couple who bicker all day and all night but love each other to bits. The main actors were married and very in love in real life too -- to the point that they died within months of one another. They were one of Italy's most beloved famous couples.

Dragged from the story! It's post-short story so Ted, at the beginning, is still recovering from being a slug thing for who knows how long. He forces himself to stay positive in this AU because hey, things could be worse! He could still be in the torture labyrinth! It's not particularly healthy for him, but it's Ted, so his coping mechanisms are kind of extremely limited. It also helps to conceal his incredible paranoia and imposter syndrome from the people around him. AM sees through it, though.

Sitcom au - when and how do macaque and wukong realize they are in love with the other again, and do they accept ir or enter the 5 stages of grief

Oh, such a great question!

Their feelings for each other always sort of lingered around them, though never being addressed. Definitely the five stages of grief option. They sort of dance around each other, never truly opening up or apologizing, not aided by the whole LBD plot dealio.

Where they realize their feelings for themselves happens before Mac leaves. For Mac, when he thought swk hated him for helping LBD and subsequentially believeing his feelings would be one-sided. Then Swk would realize he still has feelings after mk reveals that Mac helped with the evidence needed to convict LBD of her crimes and that he was now leaving for the train station. Cue panicked swk rushing to the station only to get their as Mac is boarding the train, drama drama. Emotional goodbye, cue holding back tears Mac as he says: "I hope you may show me the real Sun Wukong, and I to you, once I return Peaches."

Anyway, they eventually accept it around when Mac comes back into the picture after he's begun tackling his self-worth issues(and feeling like he's SWK's equal again cough cough-). Whole confession-apology slam dunk thing where they realize their feelings ensues.

No morals just memes anon would like to elaborate on the strange contraption leading to meme lords balcony. I asked if it was literally designed so she doesn’t have to take the door. NO, it was put up when meme lords mum tried to grow pumpkins for Halloween one year. Yes, VERTICALLY! You can’t make this shit up. The only reason it’s climbable is because it was meant to support much more weight than meme lord. She’s the one who removed the anchor screws on the very top portion because the exact situation I described happened. The guy lived and was actually totally fine after the fact but definitely didn’t try again

LMFAO this is. Truly the exact kind of story that would only come out of the life of chaos you lead. Of course there's a trellis that looks climbable but has been intentionally sabotaged to be entirely not climbable, a situation which did end up actually occuring

I hope you don't mind the influx of GG/Dorothy asks you've gotten because I really love your takes and your fics really touch upon a more vulnerable part of Dorothy that I feel was rarely fully explored but was very much present. I was watching recently an ep where Dorothy says she thought her father didn't like her or love her and Sophia cracked that he always talked her up ... to try and sell her to gypsies. Dorothy says "do you know how much that hurts me when you say things like that?". It's one of those lines that's never really followed up on or given a big moment but it stays with me.

Thank you so much :') I started writing Golden Girls fics precisely for that reason: Dorothy's vulnerability is left so underexplored in the show, even in the moments that (in my opinion, anyway!) presented the perfect opportunity to delve a little deeper into her feelings. I had to give her a moment to shine haha.

That line is the perfect example of what I'm talking about, actually! They throw in those really poignant lines or moments (or even just looks, at times) that hint at so much going on beneath the surface, but it's never expanded on. The only emotional moments she does get, that are fully followed up on, are those relating to Stan -- and even there I feel like a lot is glossed over (often by Dorothy herself, first and foremost).

I could probably write an essay on this but I'll spare you, but I think Sophia's often treated much the same -- if slightly differently -- in the show! And I mean, considering she raised Dorothy, I'm pretty sure she inadvertently ended up teaching Dorothy that covering up your vulnerability is the only way to deal with it. Sophia covers her feelings with quips and jokes, Dorothy does it through dismissal.

And because both of their methods for covering up are very convenient for a sitcom (I can drag Blanche into this as well, by the way. But I promised not to write an essay) it's *so easy* for the narrative to just. go along with their own dismissal of their feelings. Have Sophia distract from her feelings with a funny joke, and the audience is on the floor. Have Dorothy dismiss her feelings with a Look, and there's another opening for someone else to keep up the pace and move the scene along into lighter territory.
