Does your Rick have a Morty? :0
yes and no! My Rick does have a Morgan! Morty is her deadname, but yeah. They both come from dimension J-147 (based off of/inspired by exoplanet J147b, one of my favs). My Rick is currently a astronomy/science professor and very stoic/intimidating. He’s got a huge soft spot for his grandkids tho and it shows whenever he’s around them vs. not. Still working out his backstory and how he became a professor to begin with tho.
Morgan is similar in intelligence to her grandfather, so naturally they’re super close and he took her under his wing in terms of space nerd shit stuff. She has leeway with her school and Rick’s college to where she can attend his lectures if she wants to instead of going to school sometimes. She could attend college if she really wanted and learn things there, but she likes still going to high school with her Summer (still brainstorming on her design along with Beth and Jerry’s) and making friends/just being a teenager.
they’re still new so I don’t have much info on them currently but please accept this rushed character… profile… thing lol
(excuse my poor/rushed handwriting lol)

the thing about academia is that no wordcount size will ever be enough. you get 600 words and you're like "damn if I had 1,000 words I could say everything I want to say instead of squashing it all down" and then you get 1,000 words and write 1,400 words and wish you had 2,000 instead but then you get 2,000 words and you're like "wow if I had 4,000 words I could say everything I want instead of squashing it down" and then you get 4,000 words and

"Commonly, one's tutor isn't younger than them."
Marlene almost laughed at the way he spoke, "Was that your way of calling me dumb or something?"
Regulus' face remained blank, "Merely an observation."
"Right", she nodded, sitting sideways on her seat, "So, transfig... I don't really know what we're studying right now."
"Luckily I do. I visited Professor McGonagall before our meeting. You're currently on vanishing spells. What is the incantation for that?"
"Fuck, I don't know. Incantations are all weird words, hard to remember."
Regulus frowned, "You don't speak latin?"
"Of course not. But what's that got to do with it?"
"Incantations all have latin roots."
Marlene shrugged, folding her arms, "Your mates with Meadowes, right?"
"That has nothing to do with vanishing spells."
Marlene leaned forwards, "Do you have any embarrassing stories about them?"
Regulus ignored her, opening his textbook, " I am here to tutor you, not to converse about social matters."
She huffed, dropping back in her seat, and looking around the library.
"The incantation for vanishing spells is evanesco."
Marlene nodded absentmindedly, "Sure."
Regulus glared at her, "If you do not listen, you will fail in this class."
"I always fail in exams, you boring me to death isn't going to help in the slightest."
"Well maybe if you actually payed attention to your studies, you wouldn't be failing, and require me to your bore you to death."
Marlene groaned, leaning against the desk, "I'm listening, alright."
Regulus passed her a textbook, "Vanishing is known as a different transfiguration spell, because nothing can disappear out of existence. So how the vanishing spell works, is that it transfigures the object of the spell into the surrounding matter, giving the illusion that it has completely vanished."
Marlene nodded as if she was paying attention, but then spoke, "You're the slytherin seeker, right? What's the fastest you've ever gone?"

today's spooky poem is neil gaiman's "vampire sestina", featured in the collection "smoke and mirrors". as any poet will tell you, a sestina is a fiendishly tricky beast, so i'm always impressed when i find a good one - and this is, i think, a good one! you can read a little more about sestinas here, and if you've got some free time on your hands, you might try your hand at writing your own. (well, why not?)
VAMPIRE SESTINA
I wait here at the boundaries of dream,
All shadow-wrapped. The dark air tastes of night,
So cold and crisp, and I wait for my love.
The moon has bleached the color from her stone.
She'll come, and then we'll stalk this pretty world
Alive to darkness and the tang of blood.
It is a lonely game, the quest for blood.
But still, a body's got the right to dream
And I'd not give it up for all the world.
The moon has leeched the darkness from the night.
I stand in the shadows, staring at her stone:
Undead, my lover... O, undead my love?
I dreamt you while I slept today and love
Meant more to me than life - meant more than blood.
The sunlight sought me, deep beneath my stone,
More dead than my corpse but still a-dream
Until I woke as vapor into the night
And sunset forced me out into the world.
For many centuries I've walked the world
Dispensing something that resembled love -
A stolen kiss, then back into the night
Contented by the life and by the blood.
And come the morning I was just a dream,
Cold body chilling underneath a stone.
I said I would not hurt you. Am I stone
To leave you prey to time and to the world?
I offered you a truth beyond your dreams
While all you had to offer was your love.
I told you not to worry and that blood
Tastes sweeter on the wing and late at night.
Sometimes my lovers rise to walk the night...
Sometimes they lie, cold corpse beneath the stone,
And never know the joys of bed and blood,
Of walking through the shadows of the world;
Instead they rot to maggots. O my love
They whispered you had risen, in my dream.
I've waited by your stone for half the night
But you won't leave your dream to hunt for blood.
Good night, my love. I offered you the world.
—Neil Gaiman

People out there brainstorming ways of slithering away from chrollo’s grasp when I would simply make that mf do my differential equations and advanced multi variable calculus assignments until it led him to the state of insanity possessed by the average stem major. He can tolerate me being a pain in the ass but there’s no soul in this mortal realm that could survive my assigned tutorial sheets where I must utilize u-substitution more times than I have seen my family in the last academic year. Me forcing him to do tensor calculus and/or coding assignments would simply be the cherry on top of his self inflicted downfall.
good God multivariable calculus. I am yet to hear anything good about that course. I'll be taking that next semester so let's see how it goes 🫡
"but there’s no soul in this mortal realm that could survive my assigned tutorial sheets where I must utilize u-substitution more times than I have seen my family in the last academic year" anon that is HILARIOUS but also so very sad. I had to do u-substitution 4 times in an assignment question and i lost my remaining will to live with that. Make him do the coding assignments. He likes to learn right. Make. Him. Learn.

"I need to finish the Khan/Arif fic before I finish the Bismilla-centric fic before I can even think of starting the 'Arif, Cyril, and Beecher all had nightmares on the same night and will receive different kinds of comfort' fic and before I do any of that, I need to finish my homework." <- Me, on the train knowing I'm probably gonna sit on the couch and do nothing all night
