Danny never thought that Desiree was serious on her threats, or at least the threats that had to do with "turning him into a duck and abandoning him in another dimension."

But it seems that even ghost genies had their limits, because the third time he "ruined her plans," she made good on her threat. Danny wasn't worried about Amity, Team Phantom could take care of that just fine.

He was more concerned about his webbed feet and duckbill. Plus the fact that he showed up in the middle of a warehouse occupied by mobsters, although the supposed mobsters were more involved in trying to catch him (were his ears wrong or had he heard an "aww"?) than killing him. One of them even named him "Duck Hood."

Jason didn't know how to feel watching all his employees chase a duck. It was a weird duck, with glowing green eyes (was it possible for a duck to dive into the pits??), and he was sure he saw it float by at some point, but at least his "lair" was a little more lively.

He wondered if he should give it to Damian or keep it.

#thats my honest reaction 😐#to be fair ive only seen 20 minutes of the s1 finale bc my parents are watching it but. mmmmm kinda mid #like. the casting is definitely an improvement since the last time they tried a live action but it feels like the writing falls flat #or maybe im being harsh bc ive only heard negative criticism on it beforehand. but fr anytime u bring up the original its already #good and not just because its the original. so much fucking detail went into it to the point of someone noticing azula wielding mai's knive #to how well thought out irohs character is used as a way of uniting the cast especially as zukos foil #i heard that sokkas sexism was toned down and i have to agree that feels like a cheap move. like i get WHY they think it would be better #but its not about how that reflects on real world its about how it affects the story. sokka starts out as a misogynistic asshole because #it makes it that much more impactful when he changes. toning that down makes it flatter and makes his character development weak #and someone pointed out they didnt even make him wear the kyoshi warrior uniform and i know it feels like such a small detail but #come on man. they did that in the original because not only does it help him really walk in their shoes - wearing 'feminine' clothing and #makeup and having suki explain its significance but it also ties in with the shows theme of harmony and intersectionality #i was also disappointed when they had the fire sages explain how the water tribe draws power from the moon because in the original it was #IROH who explained it to aang and everyone else BECAUSE we as the audience is under the impression hes with the 'bad guys'#and it builds up to how he learned from the other nations which reconciles his past as a war general and his character overall #AND its an excellent starting point for the cast and audience to understand how the nations arent as closed off as you would think #plus you would think its only fire nation doing propaganda but they expanded on that with earth kingdom censorship and it WORKS #a lot of things in the live action also feel arbitrary like. they gave momo a near death experience for 5 minutes for no reason #im firmly on the stance of bringing back filler moments instead of putting major events right after each other so that u give your #audience a sense of time passing and to really absorb the story. but i think thats more like shock value than filler and yeah its a small #thing to gripe about but those things build up and its really annoying. the thing abt avatar filler moments is that however small #its at least meaningful. hell even the beach episode emphasizes how isolated zuko and his friends are as child soldiers #i also swore to never watch the first live action since it was that bad but i really liked the stylized tattoos they used for aang #anyway. those arejust my thoughts. im not gonna watch the rest because im a ride or die for the original aftr growing up and #rewatching it at least 20 times as a kid. but theres definitely room for improvement and i wish ppl wouldnt take it as 'better' just cuz #netflix is adapting it. i wouldve killed for them to just reanimate the entire avatar series and touch NOTHING ELSE no redub #no changes to the story. just reanimate the thing and leave the rest alone and youd make easy money just the same #ALSO its very jarring not hearing jack desena and dante basco voicing sokka and zuko cause their voices were the most recognizable to me #i get that its because its live action but im allowed to feel a little sad abt that. and uncle irohs accent was really soothing #yapping

One of my toxic traits as a superhero fan is when adaptations make the villain connected to the hero’s origin I sometimes like it and sometimes don’t and either way I usually have no specific reasoning for my opinion other than Vibes.

#in most cases i actually do like it #the spider that bit peter parker being altered by oscorp a la ultimate comics? cool.#brainiac playing a role in krypton's destruction a la dcau and injustice? cool.#mandarin being directly or indirectly responsible for iron man's origin a la the 90s cartoon and mcu? cool.#magneto being responsible for professor x getting paralyzed a la first class? actually better than how it happened in the comics #doctor doom being involved in the fantastic four's origin? eeeh depends #i don't like the ultimate version or either of the movie versions where he also gets powers in the same incident #and also his skin is actually metal instead of wearing armor #that shit's lame #but i DO like the world's greatest heroes cartoon where he sabotages their mission by lowering their shields #and THAT'S what leads to them getting powers and also causes the explosion that scars him #way i see it if he HAS to be part of their origin the way that show did it was best #the only major example or the villain creating the hero where i NEVER like it is when joker is responsible for the wayne deaths #be it directly like in the tim burton movie or indirectly like that joker movie that didn't need to exist #like joker being responsible for batman's parents dying is just way too coincidental #some of those other examples are also kinda coincidental but they at least feel like natural connections to make #whereas joker creating batman is just forced #oh and sandman killing uncle ben in the raimi movies and black cat's dad killing him in spectacular for the same reason #the murders of the waynes and uncle ben both just work better when the killer is just some random crook whose identity isn't important #but yeah the rest of those examples are all perfectly fine with me lmao #shut up tristan

i'm creating a whole frikkin fantasy world with a conflict and everything, lord help me

#i blame all of y'all who talked about baldur's gate and i blame vee's fantasy verses #and i blame myself bc i have always been a sucker for fantasy :' ))))#there's gonna be a power hungry king ( ofc ofc ) and his nephew trying to get his country back #an elven rogue blessed by a god and helping lead the rebellion against the king #it's not her usual kinda thing to do but she's a lady of the people ( but the nobles hate her asdf )#and there's also a few other characters and a lot of world building to do #like i'm thinking the gods in this world walked among the folk but there was a battle amongst them #and some believe they all died while others believe they simply retreated to another realm #and here comes rin our elf who is basically walking proof that at least some of the gods live #i haven't decided what exactly happens to her that makes everyone go ' oh my she walks with the gods' favor '#but i'm excited about that especially bc rin was definitely one of those people who believed the gods were dead/never existed #ANYWAY i'm both looking forward to all of this and dreading it bc it's gonna be a lot of writing #to just kinda flesh out the world itself and whatnot #but maybe i'm just complicating it in my head #also i'm not sure who all i'm going to actually feature on my blog #but i'm currently leaning towards delwyn the nephew and rin the elf bc i think they'd be the most fun and interesting atm #bc both of them are in a position where people are looking to them for leadership but they have wildly different backgrounds #but my gosh let me not continue to ramble about my ideas in the tags asdfgh #get ready to ramble | ooc #bro why is my ooc tag not working today??

still not a thing but this is my blog and i make the rules and i'm THINKING about birdie and fabin. i swear i'll get back to jack and arthur in a second just let me scream about birdie and fabin for a minute

Emilia tucks her wings against her back, settling in the grass next to Birdie. “When do you think we’ll have to return to Morbhard?”

Birdie stares out over the fields, her pulse quickening. Emilia senses that she’s asked a question that Birdie doesn’t want to answer. Birdie lets out a long breath. “I’m not sure.”

A lie, but Emilia doesn’t question it.

Birdie glances at the sky. “The sun will go down soon. I should make preparations. It’s the full silver moon tonight.”

Emilia shrinks into her human form and sets her hand on Birdie’s shoulder. “I can make the tea if you’d like.”

Birdie smiles. “Thank you. That would be nice.”

Emilia returns to the cottage and puts the kettle on the fire, digging her toe into the floor as she mixes the herbs. As much as she trusts them, as much as they’ve all grown closer over the weeks and months at the cottage, Birdie is still hiding things.

The kettle finally starts to whistle and Emilia pours a cup of tea. She heads back out to the garden. Birdie is standing next to Fabin, clearly just arrived from the forest, smiling up at him as he complains that the deer are getting better at hiding. Her laughter dies abruptly as the silver moon’s light hits her, her preparations forgotten in the grass a few steps away.

Fabin backs away as Birdie’s silver light explodes outward, a pulse of magic flattening the grass in a circle around her. Her tripled voice shrieks, her hair lifting off her shoulders. The entire whites of her eyes burn silver.

Blood starts to run from her nose. Fabin shrinks and tries to step closer, shouting her name. Emilia grabs a washcloth and grips it tightly behind her back, the fabric straining as she twists it nervously.

Birdie’s eyes begin to bleed as well, silver light pulsing from her. Fabin grits his teeth and takes three more shaking steps through the waves to reach Birdie. He grabs her shoulders and Emilia hears him shout her name.

Blood is streaming from her eyes and ears now, the third recitation barely begun. Fabin winces as silver magic lashes out at him, cuts opening on his cheeks. He keeps hold of Birdie, shaking her shoulders, trying to wake her up.

The silver light fades and Birdie’s eyes roll back. She collapses and Fabin catches her, lowering her slowly to the grass.

“Shit.” Jack and Arthur freeze in the doorway of the cottage. “Is she okay?”

“Does she fucking look okay?” Fabin growls, glaring at them. He snatches Birdie’s handkerchief from where she’d left it in the grass and starts to gently wipe the blood from her face. Emilia picks up the cup of tea again and moves cautiously. Birdie’s eyelids are fluttering, though she is limp in Fabin’s arms.

“The tea for her throat,” Emilia says quietly, when Fabin looks up at her with another growl. “I’ll look at those cuts.”

“I’m fine.” He holds the teacup to Birdie’s lips and Emilia flinches at the audibly painful gulps. “Birdie, can you hear me?”

Her silver eyes flick up to his face before fluttering closed again. She tucks her face into his chest.

Fabin leans down to murmur something to her that Emilia doesn’t hear. He presses his cheek to the side of Birdie’s head and Emilia stifles a gasp, averting her eyes.

Fabin stands with Birdie in his arms. “She needs to rest,” he says, not looking at any of them. He winces as he adjust his hold on her and Emilia wonders what other damage Birdie’s backlash did.

He says nothing else as he carries her into the house. Emilia bites her lip as Jack and Arthur turn to her with wide eyes. “I’ll make some more tea.”

Too tired to write but also can't stop The Scenes™ from playing out in my mind.

#bits about Arvel's healing magic and also the man in the bar healing Kahn's broken bones #i mean it's not perfect and it's painful for both the man and Kahn for different reasons but it does work in the end #also just sort of trying to flesh out the healing magic in my head. for most people who have it (mostly loethan) it's close #range or on touch. depending on the person it might hurt or drain the caster too and they might have to be able to see #the specific injury or at least where it is (such as when the man in the bar has to cut into Kahn's leg and arm to see his bones)#it almost never works on nerve damage. never on organs except maybe internal bleeding or injuries so severe the organs are #exposed. (basically just trying to say it won't heal organ failure). so it's pretty much best for broken bones and cuts. works better the #more recent the injury was. technically has the ability to regrow limbs but that's most likely never shown. (torn between whether #or not veren gets his arm regrown or a prosthetic. probably prosthetic since he lost it years ago)#doesn't work on illnesses or poisoning or stuff like that. that's still the domain of alchemists. also since on the areas it shuts #does. I'm not retyping that. on the areas it does heal its just rapid cell regrowth which most of the time is fine. but then there's #Arvel. who can do it both on touch and at range and uses the whole rapid cell growth thing as a method of torture. add the whole #light minions thing and the fact that his abilities include a rapid healing factor on himself (and that unlike a lot of people #his abilities work rapidly on others and he can easily get over any drain it has on him)#and yeah it's understandable why Len loses the first fight and why a lot of people don't stand up to him much. even his wife who doesn't #have powers at all ends up progressively more afraid of him. like the only way to possibly wound him in a meaningful way is to get the #drop on him and find some way to inflict severe damage on a vital spot and keep whatever you used to do that inside of him long enough #for him to eventually not be able to heal around it anymore. i don't know just thinking about how he's such a twisting of typically 'good #guy' powers. like his main things are light and healing he should be the hero or like high up supporting cast but nope he's just #trying to subjugate everyone and rule the whole damn continent because of a might makes right ethos and the fact that he does #certainly have might on his side #maggot original

#Thinkin bout how she goes ‘spiritually I’m kicking my feet rn :3’ including when he’s unplugged and technically entirely capable but he #forgets sometimes. and also due to doc kind of messed up some of that nerve communication in there sometimes he says it while kicking his #feet not realizing. and if u point it out she gets sososo excited about it she’s like then that’s just more feet kicks!!!#do u even KNOW that she will full on wheezing sob if a stranger animal is friendly upon meeting. if u say yeah my dog isn’t usually friendly #and then ur dog lets him pet them then he’s fighting tears SO hard and it’s NOT working there’s a very real chance of crying startling your #animal. sweets hs a lot of feelings and um. man…#man is sweets like kinda very touch starved?#like um. grew up with Hazardous amounts of zips and zaps in em. exploded a lil bit. and now spends most of the time actively having power #drained away to make him less dangerous.#I think sweets beyond the whole fatigue is Hesitant to go out without his chair bc she’s like. um this is kind of my safeguard I’m powering #this thing. but like u give sweets a hug. a good strong hug that he can feel well. and um. ur not getting out of that without at least a #couple tears.#man…. sweets love language touch but soso scared to indulge in contact….. agh………#sweets solace #my darling blorbo of my heart this weekend it seems

Part of the greatness of s3…

… Is stuff like 3x08, where the sheer gravity and betrayal and heartbreak of breaking into the Burkes’ house is so perfectly… Toned down?

It’s the small things. El doesn’t look back to double check the door bc why would she, Mozzie’s a friend. She doesn’t suspect his oddly deadpan reactions for the same reason. They don’t have to worry about the alarum bc they know the codes, the address is a safe zone for the anklet. Them having the picture of the team right there in their room.

For some reason the thing that really gets me is Satchmo. Normally breaking into a house w/ a big dog would be complicated, but Satchmo doesn’t come up at all in discussion—bc he won’t bark, bc it’s Neal. Neal is family, Neal takes Satchmo for walkies and feeds him treats. I dunno, I just get so emotional at the totally trusting and excited way Satchmo follows him around, happily wagging his tail. Like kudos to that pooch, very good acting, conveying so much w/ so little. He barely whines a little like ‘pay attention to me, mom left!’ or ‘what are you doing over there??’
