I saw this meme on Facebook and thought this might be a good way of explaining an attention deficit. 😂🤣 I switch between the two but as soon as I get distracted from my laser-focus it becomes the second one. Especially if I get distracted. Reason why I get annoyed as soon as someone helps me when I'm concentrating really hard.
love someone on Reddit being confused as to how i play video games AND watch tv with no issue. idk bro ADHD maybe somehow i guess????
like i can’t just. watch tv. can’t focus on it. if i play video games or color while watching tv, i can actually register what’s happening and follow the plot. and the video game plot, too. how? who the fuck knows
Having Avoidant Personality Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder is wild because my avpd will be like "i don't want to do this thing" and my ad/h/d is like "when i have i ever helped you do something you need to do?"
Attention Deficit is out NOW on all major music platforms! Proggy instrumental with cool vibes, Austin's music has been described by the artist as "heavily influenced by progressive rock and metal, video games, and film composers" and by his sister as "this shit slaps, like, for real."
The much anticipated launch of this debut EP brings these cool ass vibes, at long last, to the masses, so go check it out on spotify (or just buy it right now and thank me later) and start your weekend right 😌
i used to be so good at writing strong, thoroughly-researched, thoroughly-edited essays.
as a kid in hs, my teacher literally came up to me, holding my 40 page essay on the intersection of the European witch hunts and capitalism/exploitation/gender roles (it was supposed to be 7 pages...whoops) and went like "this is literally a master's-degree level thesis. what are you doing?? you could literally use this as your final dissertation in a master's program, what the fuck."
NOW??? NOW?? you'd think I'd be oh so skilled. but alas. i can barely piece together two ideas. adhd skill-regression is so so real. im SOBBING
I’d been putting off patching my waders for months. Why? I thought it would be too hard and take too much time. And I wasn’t sure I could actually do it.
That’s “pro-crastination“, and I am indeed a pro at it.
Finally, I just jumped in and got myself to do it so it wouldn’t keep hanging uncomfortably over my head. It was pretty easy and took about five minutes.
When we put something off…
I'm doing research about self-diagnosis for a friend. I saw this post and thought, hey, a discussion about the cons of self-diagnosis! This is good and important, because we all want to be responsible!
The post focuses on differential diagnosis - for example, how ADHD can look similar to depression. It points out that the two have differing treatment plans, and one treatment makes the other problem worse.
Treatment plans.
Focus on that phrase, because I have beef.
Self-diagnosis isn't getting you medication. It probably isn't even getting you cognitive behavioral therapy or a lifestyle change. It's getting you coping mechanisms and community access.
No, treatment for depression is not necessarily going to improve your ADHD symptoms. But if a coping mechanism for ADHD helps your depression, GOOD FOR YOU.
Imagine if an AFAB person was ""diagnosed"" as lesbian to determine the person liked women. Then the person goes by he/him pronouns for a while and doesn't identify as lesbian, then by they/them pronouns, then realizes they're bisexual, et cetera. At no point did they stop liking women. The diagnosis didn't help them figure out they liked women. The diagnosis also didn't help them figure out anything ELSE about their sexual and gender identity.
They never stopped being a valid member of the queer community, they never stopped being at risk of persecution, and it never stopped being important to support them in their journey. Nobody cares whether you're using the "correct" term. In this particular context, it doesn't matter.
If you're talking about going on medication or receiving an intensive and specific therapy, a professional diagnosis might matter, but self-identity always matters, and it doesn't require a doctor to tell you anything.
(The post reads like SEO bait, though, to be honest.)
HOW do I explain to someone that ADD is just ADHD that’s in a different form . like I Have The Same Problems as ADHD but that (H)yper energy is simply internal
