#FixTF2 Masterpost: Important Information Regarding the Movement
As promised, here is a comprehensive post about the #FixTF2 movement, the issues it tries to bring up and where to find more information and follow developments.
It is now day 7 of the protest with no response form Valve. Either this is them trying to wait for this to blow over or waiting for the signatures of the petition to be printed out and brought to their office, or they are still preparing a proper response to the movement. Regardless, this protest is still ongoing.
❓What's going on with TF2?❓
I'm sure everyone and their grandma knows by now, but TF2's most popular game mode, Casual, has been plagued by bots for several years by now. This is in fact not the first attempted protest and you may have heard of the one conducted two years ago named #SaveTF2. The movement wrested a response from Valve, which since the first protest has earned infamy and a status as a blatant lie among the game's players.
Tumblr media
However, this task has seemingly been abandoned entirely. The last time in recent memory with no bots was when the game upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit, which seemed to break the bots for a while. This was something the bothosters remedied a few days later, and no steps to remove them from the game has been made ever since.
It is worth mentioning that TF2 has had updates to battle the bot issue many times after #SaveTF2. They did indeed move to make TF2 a bot-free game for a while.
❓Why is this even bad?❓
Now, this might seem like a non-problem; TF2 is a video game and no more than that. People could simply move on and play similar games, like Overwatch, Paladins, Splatoon, etc. This would certainly be an easy solution but this has roots much deeper than simply playing a game.
For one, this game has been around for about 17 years by now. Ancient by FPS standards, but that the game is still played and talked about to this day stands as a testament to the love and passion the playerbase and general fandom has for it. The playerbase is loyal, the potential for content is seemingly endless and many are willing to pay money for the game. And therein lies some issues.
TF2 has millions of dollars invested in it by the playerbase. Loot boxes, MvM tickets and any sale made in the community market all gives Valve a steady and reliable revenue stream. This is significant, because you will have to make the assumption that this money will come back to sustain the game from imploding in on itself and remain functional. In the case with MvM, the PvE mode (that has not been updated in QUITE a while), the chances of receiving valuable loot from the missions is actually so small that there is no way to feasibly make any of your money back.
Additionally, any content updates added to the game every event (Summer Update, Scream Fortress and Smissmass) is community made. This means Valve picks and chooses cosmetics, emotes, unusual effects, warpaints and maps made by fans in the workshop.
Tumblr media
While the creators of these items are compensated for their work, Valve naturally profits from these content updates.
In shorter terms: Valve profits off a game that has been in a near-unplayable state for more than 5 years by doing next to nothing.
And that isn't even the end of it. This is just the general negligence of Valve. It gets a lot uglier when delving into the punishable crimes conducted by the bothosters.
This video by TheWhat Show talks about this in depth, focusing on a particularly important case that involves MegaScatterBomb, who was harassed, doxxed, impersonated and swatted for trying to develop a working anti-cheat for casual.
youtube
This video is also in a document form for those who would rather read.
A more recent development with the bots has been their blatant advertising and promotion of CSAM, which you may better know as CP.
After #FixTF2 started, bots have been found spamming links in text chat that they claim is CSAM, while micspamming disturbing audio into the voice chat that is either edited to sound like or is legitimately CSAM. Valve has yet to respond to these reports, but good amount of players on Twitter/X have already started notifying FBI about this situation.
Another thing worth noting is that the bothosters have actively attempted to take down the petition website by DDoSing it and by filing a fake DMCA claim, both which are punishable crimes.
So to summarize:
It is wholly unsafe to play the game due to the bothosters and their willingness to commit crimes in the name of ruining the game experience.
Valve is profiting from keeping this broken product running, yet refuses to put any meaningful effort into fixing the bot problem.
The community actively contributes to the game by designing cosmetics and maps, and while they are compensated for their work, Valve are the ones who profit the most from their contributions.
Real people have been and are being harmed by the bot problem, and as far as we are aware, no one has been held accountable.
This is wholly unacceptable, both from a professional and unprofessional standpoint. If Valve fancies themselves a corporation worth using money on, their choice to simply ignore the problem speaks volumes of their priorities.
As Valve is releasing their new game Deadlock, there are serious concerns about the security of this game. TF2 is far from the only game that has bot/cheater problems. CS2 has had a similar problem for a long while as well and there is a clip of a Chinese bot farm that has been going around and which has even breached into the #FixTF2 movement.
❓What should we do?❓
Sign the petition while it is still up. At the time of this post, the petition has reached 270k+ signatures. The website has more general information as well.
Add to the #FixTF2 tag on mainly Twitter/X. Tag your posts with it, retweet and like posts in the tag and put the focus on the bots and ONLY the bots. One of the issues of the last movement, #SaveTF2, was that it wasn't focused enough on any particular problem and Valve could get away with making no promises. So, post clips, fanart and rants to your heart's content, so long it is specifically about the bots.
Watch youtube videos with #FixTF2 as the subject. Here are some good places to start:
youtube
youtube
4. Boycott any transactions in TF2. While Weezy was against this method in his video above, he has since changed his opinion. It has been established that Valve is very unlikely to shut down TF2, since the TF2 community market has millions of dollars invested in it and shutting down TF2 would render all items useless, thereby fully taking away any and all investments any players have put into the game. This would not just be devastating to the general economy of Valve's marketplaces, but a huge blow to their reputation if they want to remain reliable in the eyes of consumers.
5. Don't interact directly with bothosters. This includes harassment and any attempts at doxxing/swatting. These individuals are bigoted and some are even criminals. They have no remorse for their actions and talking to them would be a fruitless endeavor. Refrain from mentioning their names/aliases, as they are fond of attention and are getting just about enough of it since #FixTF2 started.
6. Don't give up.
❓Where can I keep up with any news?❓
Here are accounts to start with if you want to follow any important proceedings regarding #FixTF2:
Weezy (One of the biggest voices for #FixTF2 and spearhead of the protest):
Weezy's Youtube Channel
Weezy's Twitter
TheWhat Show (Similar to Weezy, outspoken supporter and spearhead):
TheWhat's Youtube Channel
TheWhat's Twitter
Shork (Outspoken supporter and generally active in the fandom)
Shork's Twitter
MegaScatterBomb (Creator of the TF2 cheater database and attempting to make a working anti-cheat for casual)
Mega's Youtube

hiya! for writers who are complete beginners, kinda sorta maybe write at a high school level, can't describe to save their lives, have overall bad flow (as in they can't decide what little moments scenes to think up and even write, if they do, they're no good), have been told countless times to write daily and just read more but that doesn't cover the basics or foundations of creative writing, not like they can learn from a book bc they're a hands on learner anyway and p.s they're super broke so can't afford writing classes and no library near them offers free ones ---- aka me :( --- do you have any advice? lol i feel kinda doomed and that maybe writing isn't for me, but I don't wanna get my hopes down!! with the right tools, it's possible.
Free Resources for Learning How to Write
I want to start with addressing why you've been told so often "to write daily and read more" as a way to learn how to write. It's very difficult to learn and excel at a craft if you have no experience with said craft. You can read all the information in the world about how to forge a sword, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to pick up a hunk of metal and be able to forge a beautiful sword. You need to spend a lot of time watching other people forge swords, and spend a lot of time actually practicing each step yourself if you want to get good at it. Writing works the same way. Reading lets you experience what fiction should be, writing lets you practice each step for yourself.
Fortunately, there are lots of ways to read fiction for free. You can borrow books from friends, family members, and members of your community. You can check out books and e-books from your local library if you have one. You can look for Little Free Libraries in your neighborhood. There's also a lot of legally free fiction available online. Project Gutenberg, Planet E-Book, Bartleby, Literature.org, Classic Literature, Classic Short Stories, Wattpad, Archive of Our Own, Library of Short Stories, Levar Burton Reads, and sites like Kobo, Amazon, and Audible often offer freebies of both e-books and audio books.
Other free ways to learn how to write:
1 - Follow bloggers and vloggers and authors on social media who talk about the craft of writing. Some of my favorites are: Joanna Penn/The Creative Penn, K.M. Weiland, Liselle Sambury, Abbie Emmons, Hannah Lee Kidder, Brittany Wang, Alyssa Matesic, Bethany Atazadah, Lindsay Puckett, Alexa Donne, Shaelin Writes, Ellen Brock, The Writing Gals, and Sincerely, Vee.
2 - Follow writing craft blogs here on tumblr: (some suggestions) @writingwithcolor, @howtofightwrite, @heywriters, @cripplecharacters, @lgbtqwriting, @fixyourwritinghabits, @wordsnstuff, @yourbookcouldbegayer, @lizard-is-writing
3 - Watch writing craft videos on YouTube: If there's something specific you want to learn about, say, "how to structure a scene," type it into YouTube and many different videos will pop up that walk you through how to structure a scene. Just look for one that strikes you as appealing!
4 - Look for free writing resources online: many authors (especially indie authors and writing gurus/coaches like Joanna Penn, K.M. Weiland, Bethany Atazadeh, Brittany Wang, and Abbie Emmons) offer free writing resources on their web sites or by signing up for their newsletters. Often you'll see writers participating in free online writing summits/workshops which you can sign up for and either watch the videos live or via video playback that is offered for a short period of time (like 24 hours.)
5 - Do a Google Search: believe it or not, there's not a single thing you could want to learn about writing that you can't find for free on Google. If you want to learn how to improve your grammar, go to Google, type in "tips for improving grammar" and you will get a million articles that will tell you how to do just that. Want to learn how to improve your story's flow? Google "how to improve story flow" and you'll have your answer. You can even search for free worksheets, guides, and workbooks on just about anything you want. "Free character development worksheet" brought back a ton of nice looking free worksheets. "Free worldbuilding workbook" brought up several free workbooks and worksheets to help you with worldbuilding. Everything you could want to know is out there.
And, bonus: you can always read through the posts in my WQA master list to get help with a wide variety of craft and writer-related issues.
Happy learning! ♥

All labor deserves compensation. Even ours.
Bitchlings, did you know that you can join our Patreon for FREE? Yep. You can join for free and benefit from updates, get notified of new courses, workshops, and articles, and do it all within the loving and shapely arms of a community of fellow bitchlings longing to become rich...lings.
At the moment we have 152 free Patreon members. And we LOVE that they're showing their support with a free membership! Not everyone has the money to donate to support our mission right now. That's understandable! After all, our target demographic is People Who Need Help With Money Stuff.
But if even HALF of our 152 free members started paying just $1 a month to support the Bitches Get Riches mission... we'd have $76 more dollars every month to put into this passion project. That's $912 a year going toward all this great stuff:
Paying our website hosting fees so we have a dedicated space to keep ALL of our research, resources, analysis, and advice.
Paying our podcast hosting fees so people have access to our original podcast episodes.
Paying our assistant and producer, the lovely Ducky herself, for all the incredible work she does editing audio and video, promoting our work across social media, answering all the emails, and corralling us like a gator wrangler with two hissing prehistoric reptiles who'd generally rather be floating around in the murk than producing useful content
But most importantly... we'd be able to create more blog articles, YouTube videos, and podcast episodes. All of that shit is HARD FUCKING WORK. And while we're doing it, we lose the opportunity to do OTHER paid work.
All labor deserves compensation, my loves. Even that of your humble Bitches. If you're a free member of our Patreon, consider raising your membership to the $1 level today.
And if you've been thinking of joining us on Patreon at ANY LEVEL... why wait? Join us on Patreon right heckin now!

We love you, babies. Keep on keeping on.

Eddie and the suspicious Narrator.
So...there's a secret site I'm pretty sure everyone knows of by now but I'll still have the link here:
If we remember the narrator from the "Happy Haunting to Boo and Yours" recording, they seemed terrifying especially at the end when they laugh maniacally. Then we have another narrator who is playing as Santa.
And spoilers if you haven't visited this site yet and do not wish to be spoiled, this is where you stop reading.
While Eddie is having a very deep and terrible derealization moment, the narrator, as Santa, is acting rather odd and triumphant whenever the commercials go to Eddie in particular. And if you've been updated with every other audio, Eddie is the only character that does not get an advertisement for his gift by Santa, nor does he actually receive any calls or gifts from his neighbors.
And we do know that Eddie does not remember where he comes from. Based on the videos from this link, I will begin to assume he came from the real world and his conscience just keeps switching from his cartoon body to his puppet body. That is why he feels like he doesn't belong.
Anyways, I think it's clear all of these different narrators are people that work in Playfellow Workshop. Time and time again, we see our neighbors subtly being antagonized by these people.

Summer 2024 travel plans and Language Guinea Pig Diaries
In August and September, I'm doing a bunch of travel to various European countries. In order, they are:
Glasgow, Scotland for World Science Fiction Convention (WorldCon), where I'll be on a panel about Languages as World-Building and doing assorted meetups
Helsinki, Finland for the Societas Linguistica Europea annual meeting
Tartu, Estonia for a colloquium talk on Applying Linguistic Methods to Linguistic Communication at the University of Tartu and a two-part workshop on lingcomm for participants of Methodological Excellence in Data-Driven Approaches to Linguistics (MEDAL)
Nijmegen, Netherlands for some meetings with linguists
Florence, Italy to visit friends
Madrid, Spain for the publication of the Spanish translation of Because Internet by Pie de Página
I hope to run into lots of interesting people at these events! If you're already in one of these places and I know you, including from the interent, feel free to reach out and see if we can fit something in!
This whirlwind list of events and places has also gotten me thinking: this trip is going to be a fun chance to learn some more about some languages! I'm already fairly familiar with Spanish and Scottish English (I doubt people will speak much Broad Scots to me with my Canadian accent), and I'm confident on my ability to brush up on them by a bit of exposure and possibly watching a relevant movie on the way there, but the other four languages are going to take a bit more doing. Here's my initial situation, in order of familiarity:
Italian - I studied it for two years in undergrad and spent about a week in Italy shortly thereafter, and by the end of the week I was finally beginning to feel like it was starting to "click" but then I haven't really touched it since then. So I feel like it would come back with exposure but I wonder if there's something I could do in advance to help it come back sooner/faster rather than taking the whole week of being there again
Dutch - I went through the whole Duolingo tree on rapid-speed back when you could skip through lessons for new material only and not practice drills over about a year in 2019-ish just for fun and as an excuse to look up lots of Germanic roots (I studied German before I knew any linguistics so it was fun to triangulate there). Never actually been anywhere Dutch was being spoken but I did find I could get the gist of youtube videos about linguistics in Dutch so it probably needs "activation" similar to Italian
Finnish - No background except for a few linguistics factoids (case! vowel harmony!), and that it's a Uralic language (related to Hungarian but not to any of the Indo-European languages, so this is a fun chance to learn some things about a language family that's unfamiliar to me)
Estonian - Also no background, also Uralic, clearly the fun thing to do would be to learn enough bits of Estonian and Finnish that I could compare them with each other (also since I'm meeting with linguists in both countries, this would be a fun topic for small talk conversation)
At the same time, there are a lot of language learning strategies floating around out there, and I have two nearly matched pairs of languages on this list: Italian and Dutch, both of which I am pretty good at cognate languages for and have studied some a while back, so I could test two activation strategies, and Finnish and Estonian, both of which I have essentially zero familiarity with, so I could test two strategies for getting somewhere near a basic functional ability.
I have about a month until I start this cycle with a flight to Helsinki. One month, four languages. What could possibly go wrong?
Here's my tentative plan so far:
Activation, Italian and Dutch - I'm pretty sure what I need for these languages is largely as much audio imput as possible (given what's feasible around like, all the other things going on in my life). I've decided to aim to watch one or two youtube videos in Italian per day, focusing on relatively concrete, daily life topics (such as gelato making) and to listen to one episode of a podcast in Dutch per day, aiming to get through the back catalogue of Kletsheads, a podcast about multilingual children.
Why these strategies? Well, I'm meeting up with linguists in the Netherlands but not in Italy, so it makes sense to try to learn more linguistics vocab there. Also, I'm curious about the effect of medium between video and podcast: will being able to see people talking and what they're talking about have much of an effect on how much I can understand? Will I find it easier to integrate one or the other of watching videos vs listening to podcasts into my life at a practical level? Plus, will concentrating on a single, more academic topic vs watching a scattered, unsystematic list of videos have effects on my vocabulary?
Basic function, Finnish and Estonian - I'm probably looking for some phrases to say to people in shops and restaurants and the ability to pronounce things written on menus adequately and match heard words/placenames to written versions on signs. I started doing a very minimal one lesson a day on Duolingo for Finnish in January, when planning for this trip started, for the very simple reason that I was already familiar with Duolingo and it doesn't have Estonian, so I decided to just start by doing a thing I was familiar with until I got around to doing more research. I've been casting around trying to figure out a source of basic Estonian phrases online when a friend mentioned learning French on tiktok, so I searched for "learn estonian" and voila! I think I'll also aim for a video or two of Estonian phrases per day but I want to do more rewatching than with Italian or Dutch, since I'm aiming to remember specific common phrases. So maybe one rewatched video and one new video, per day? They're shorter on tiktok than on youtube.
Why these strategies? This is a comparison of Duolingo's more systematic approach with lots of repetition and gamification and word-by-word translation in a relatively sterile environment versus a more organic and free-styling approach with more grounding in real people and faces and full phrases where I'm not really trying to understand the individual words. There are lots of factors to compare and it's not a completely fair comparison since I started Duolingo in January and I only thought to start the TikTok idea this week, but hey, learning anything still counts as progress.
Summary: I have four languages, each focused on a different app: YouTube, my podcast app, Duolingo, and TikTok. Hopefully for the video apps, this will help their algorithms kick in and start recommending me further useful videos. The difference between the two video strategies is that for Italian, I'm watching monolingual videos that are aimed at people who already speak Italian and just want to learn something about the topic, whereas for Estonian, I'm watching bilingual videos aimed at English speakers who want to learn some words or phrases in Estonian.
Am I going to get these four languages mixed up? Probably! I'm hoping that choosing a different app/strategy for each is a little bit helpful on that front.
Do I think these strategies are optimal? Probably not! But I'm aiming to choose things that feel relatively clear to implement consistently, rather than getting bogged down in researching language learning methods instead of actually getting exposure to the languages. I'll probably do a basic "look up some key phrases and try to learn them" a day or two before entering each place too. And maybe shift other aspects depending on how things are going, stay tuned!
At any rate, I figured it would be more fun to blog about my attempts to use myself as a guinea pig for a few different language learning strategies here than to just do it in my own head (and hopefully help me with staying motivated). And maybe people will have tips of either language learning strategies that have worked for you in general or specific ideas for these particular languages, so this is the beginning of a series that I'm calling #Language Guinea Pig Diaries and future posts will also be posted under that tag!

*spoilers for the Welcome Home update*
People have been pointing out Eddie's noticeable exclusion from the main website on the recent update, and it's quite prominent in the new audio clips on the merchandise page.
In the Homewarming Storybook Record, Wally and Barnaby go around asking the neighbours how to celebrate Homewarming. Eddie isn't mentioned at all, which is suspicious in and of itself, but towards the end there's this:
Tumblr media
'With all the neighbourhood accounted for' - ie, everyone except for Eddie. Suggesting that Eddie isn't part of the neighbourhood, and doesn't belong there. The fact that this is coming from the narrator suggests that the showrunners were trying to reinforce this idea for the audience (personally I agree with the theory that Eddie got cut from the show and the video on the secret website is the consequences of that).
Again, in the Welcome Home Wishbook recording, all of the neighbours are mentioned, but as soon as Eddie is brought up, the audio distorts and turns to static. Another odd thing is that Frank is specifically mentioned to have been 'a good neighbour this year', which I found weird because the main reason this is happening to Eddie seems to be his relationship with Frank. It's possible that the Playfellow Workshop saw Eddie as the more 'disposable' one of the pair and then took extra measures to ensure that Frank wouldn't seem to have been involved (hence why the neighbourhood page now claims that Frank and Julie could be a couple).
There's also very little purple in the website background (purple being Eddie's favourite colour), with the few instances being a couple of flower petals, one tree trunk, and the wings of a butterfly (all of this is only visible when zoomed out of the page as far as possible). There's probably something to be said about how Eddie's colour only properly shows up on something associated with Frank, but that's for another day.
Tumblr media
(Also here's a screenshot of the mini Frank and Eddie icons next to each other on the merchandise page because they're adorable and I love them-)

It's been a long year and it's only February…
Well, it's time to put this out there: I've had a fairly shitty few years (like, haven't we all, obviously), but it's included a long, expensive legal battle against unscrupulous cysts, which is finally concluded satisfactorily save being left somewhat skint on the other side of it. Doesn’t help that said battle meant that I had to move house - not exactly a low activity on the expense and stress scales…
So I'm looking for extra work, to help while we wait for the Luxury Space Communism to kick in (I'd settle for Universal Basic Income or an end to the Housing and Cost of Living Crisis, tbh).
Things I do to a professional standard include:
Creative Mentoring and Tutoring (writing and performance techniques, especially for poetry - bespoke or standard workshops available for groups as well as one-to-one).
Project Management (feeling overwhelmed by a project you want to get off the ground and/ or run within budget and timescale? I can help with that).
Business Change Management (you need to expand or shift your business focus? I can help that happen in a well-managed fashion).
Performance Poetry (got a bunch of poems, 18 years' experience delivering them live, and a nice voice).
Writing to Commission (especially poetry, but I write both fictive prose and essays too).
Voice Acting and Narration (I've acted in audio dramas and narrated short stories, training videos, and so far one documentary).
Book and Pamphlet Production (I operate a small press).
Basic website setup and maintenance.
Training on any of the above.
I have a sliding scale of rates depending on customer circumstances, and you can book me for a free initial consultation via my website: https://www.fayroberts.co.uk/crass-commercialism/services/
And if you fancy just sending me money because you're generous, I have a ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/fayroberts

December Workshop Update: The Fun(ds) & 2024
Tumblr media
Well met Workshop Spectators! Besides our super shiny Beta presentation video, & new Mod Content FAQ, we have lots of exciting news to get through. First and foremost, we are reopening our staff applications for our Community Team, specifically in search of new people to join our Discord moderation team. If you are interested in applying, please fill out this form, and someone from our Community Team will reach out to you in early January. As per our last mini-update, the Workshop is looking to have a surplus budget of about 1100 USD -- or 500 lines worth of funding -- and we've been brainstorming up ways to add some goodies into the Kaidan Revoiced: Community Expansion mod 1.0 launch, internally (& lovingly) referred to as 'the FUN(ds)'. Starting today and running though February 1st, 2024, the community can vote on which of these to prioritize. You can read the details of those choices below and place your vote here. Finally, the Workshop staff are going on vacation! We'll be around sparingly over the next few weeks as we all take a much needed break to prepare for the end of the Fun(ds) voting. We'll be back in full force on January 12th! As always, from the staff to the Spectators; we are truly blessed to be the recipients of such support and good will. We can't wait to see what you vote for!
Intro Overhaul Pack - estimated 0 ~ 10 lines
This proposal was inspired by the mod Immersive Kaidan Start, created by WarTortle. Rather than the quest simply appearing in the player’s journal, there is instead a series of changes to point the player towards Kaidan’s Old Campsite or the Abandoned Prison in a more immersive way. We have obtained permission to adapt this mod and incorporate it within KR:CE; while we may be able to achieve this via splicing dialogue from vanilla Skyrim, we may need to arrange to have a small set of new lines recorded for one of the NPC interactions.
I’m Glad You’re Here - estimated 15 lines
This proposal revolves around the mod I’m Glad You’re Here, created by WhiteWolf424242,  which allows the player to hug their companions and loved ones; it currently uses spliced lines from the original Kaidan 2 files to create responses for Kaidan. We would create a small collection of new and old lines to be recorded by our VA, then implement them into KR:CE.
Paarthurnax Quest Expansion Compatibility - estimated 10 ~ 20 lines
It is no secret that many players find the ultimatum Delphine gives them about killing Paarthurnax problematic, and while Kaidan has dialogue that acknowledges either choice, we wanted to create content that would acknowledge if the player uses the Paarthurnax Quest Expansion mod by Jayserpa to keep Paarthurnax alive.
The Book Review Pack - estimated 25 ~ 30 lines
In the vanilla Kaidan 2 mod, there is a feature that allows the player to give certain books to Kaidan; while he does have a few unique responses to some of the books, his primary replies can quickly become short and repetitive. To address this (and also because the idea of a Kaidan Book Club is just too endearing), this proposal would consist of creating unique responses to all of the books Kaidan can currently read.
NPC Revoice: Dremora, Ren, Myriah, Tarben - estimated 40 lines
One of the key reasons the Workshop was formed was to address the audio distortion that existed in the Kaidan 2 mod. During our process of reviewing and revoicing the base script, it became apparent that some of the other custom characters and voices included in the mod could also use a touch-up, or lacked a custom voice at all. This proposal would revolve around replacing nearly all of the custom NPC dialogue in KR:CE with revoiced lines from new voice actors. The exception to this is Rosalind (recorded by voice actress Tanya S. Bartlett) for two key reasons –  one, her lines are still in fantastic condition; and two, there have been many requests for an overhaul &/or extension for Rosalind and her dungeon. While we are definitely interested in this idea, pursuing something of this scale would add too much time to our current production cycle for the KR:CE 1.0 launch, and so we have elected to reserve reviewing Rosalind for a later date.
The Faction Pack - estimated 40 ~ 50 lines each
The base Kaidan mod lacks extended commentary on several of the major faction quests; particularly the Civil War, the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild faction questlines. This proposal would have the community pick among the three aforementioned factions for a full Workshop Original Script addition.
Scripted CVF Pack - estimated 50 ~ 60 lines
New interactions with other custom voiced followers is one of our most requested content additions. While we aren’t fully prepared to tackle large expansions yet due to scheduling and production time concerns, we’ve selected a few CVF’s with whom we have the ability to produce new content relatively rapidly due to internal pre-existing scripts &/or the availability of our potential content collaborators. Those followers are Auri, Caryalind, Khash, and Rumarin.
The Daedra Pack - estimated 60 lines
Currently, Kaidan only has commentary for the Daedric quest “Pieces of the Past”, with a few one-off lines mentioning certain Daedric gods. The Daedra Pack would focus on adding four to eight lines to each of the following quests, similar to the line count of the original “Pieces of the Past” script.
“The Black Star”, “Boethiah's Calling”, “A Daedra's Best Friend”, “Discerning the Transmundane”, “Ill Met By Moonlight”, “The Cursed Tribe”, “The Whispering Door”, “The Break of Dawn”, “The House of Horrors”, “The Taste of Death”, “The Only Cure”, “A Night to Remember”, “The Mind of Madness”, & “Waking Nightmare”.
Commentary on Nocturnal is not included in this pack, but rather is tied up in the Thieves Guild questline, which is an option for selection in the Faction Pack.
The Reaction Pack - estimated 60 ~ 75 lines
During the many hours of playtesting the staff undertook, we noticed that there were just certain events that would occur in Skyrim (for example, Jarl Balgruuf asking the player to kill a dragon) that Kaidan just didn’t have any dialogue for. Alternatively, there are some reaction lines that fire frequently enough that they quickly become repetitive (for example, Kaidan lines when being healed by the player). This proposal is geared around creating single line additions throughout the script to make Kaidan be a touch more reactive to the wilds of Skyrim, as well as adding in extra takes of certain lines to reduce repetitiveness.
Note that this is not a full expansion for any given questline or faction – just extra lines to bolster the existing script.
The Roleplay Pack - estimated 60 ~ 75 lines
There are several instances where the mod allows the player to roleplay a bit with Kaidan, providing him details about your past, your family, and even your adventures. Given the staggering amount of options that are possible within the Elder Scrolls Universe, this proposal aims to expand the responses the player can give to Kaidan – for example, lines that acknowledge the specific province the player was born in, as well as the player's race, filling in the missing gaps for his commentary regarding the player’s level in different skills, or increase the variety of different gods the player can say they worship.
DLC (Dawnguard/Dragonborn) Pack - estimated 65 ~ 80 lines each
The base Kaidan mod lacks any commentary regarding the two DLC’s Dawnguard & Dragonborn. This proposal would have the community pick one of the two aforementioned factions for a full Workshop Original Script addition.

"You've Been Accepted!" - Whirl
Whirl grasped the tiny pamphlet tightly in her hands as she hurried down the tiny corridor, her spark beating a million times a microsecond. Every few steps she'd look down at the top, seeing the first four words printed across it: Congratulations, you've been accepted!
Accepted! One of the first students to be attending the brand new Rescue Bot Training Center, stationed on the one and only Earth!
That scared her a little bit, she supposed. Traveling to another planet, being away from everyone and everything she knew... But she'd done a lot of research on Earth- mostly through scattered stories and random video broadcasts she was able to get her servos on- and it seemed like it was something she could handle.
She just hoped her dad would see it the same way.
She paused at the front door of his workshop, bouncing on her pedes and wondering if she should knock or wait and tell him later when he wasn't working. She was already here, so why waste time going back and forth? She pressed her audio receptor to the door, hearing a soft clinking of metal on the other side. She then pressed her knuckles against the metal and tapped gently.
A muffled mumble, the one that told her she was free to enter, but that he was also focused on something else at the same time.
She pressed her palm to the scanner and the door slid open, exposing the cluttered, dimly-lit space that was her father's workshop. Crates and containers of parts- both big and small- were stacked almost to the ceiling and half-unpacked. Cubes of energon- mostly empty but not quite finished- sat in groups on the floor and tabletop, splashes of it dripped and dried on the floor and table as well. Her father sat on a small bench, hunched over the table with the only light in the room being a lamp he'd pulled down and close to him.
"Hey, Dad...!" Whirl greeted softly, trying her best not to startle him.
"Hey, Whirlybird!" Her dad greeted in a cheery tone, though not looking from his work. "Just give me one second, I'm almost finished putting these gears in."
"Take your time." Whirl carefully navigated the boxes and crates, reaching the table and quietly, slowly, bending down to collect the cubes from the floor. She stacked them in her hands, moving them from under his pedes and over to the recycling chute across the room.
"Oh don't worry about cleaning up, Whirly. I can do that."
"I'll let you focus on your work. Don't worry, I got it." Whirl placed the cubes into the chute, watching them tumble downward into the dark where they would settle with others to be collected, taken away, cleaned, and then refilled to be redistributed out with fresh energon rations to the population of Cybertron. She wondered if any of these cubes would wind up going on a ship for a long-distance haul. What sorts of wonders did they see as they were reused, over and over?
She turned back to the table, looking at her father. It was amazing how much emotion she could pick up from just the one, giant optic that formed his faceplate. The focus, the concentration... The desperation. His hands were shaking, the tiny gear caught between the tweezers in one hand clinking against the metal of the casing he was trying to put it in, his other hand moving the casing in practically every opposite direction the gear was going.
Whirl could feel it, she could see it in his expression.
She set her announcement pamphlet down on the table, coming around and taking his left hand gently in hers. "Do you want me to hold the casing?"
"I...Okay, Whirly..."
Whirl smiled, despite her spark breaking at his defeated tone. Taking the casing from his pincer grasp and keeping it steady while he tried placing the gear in its place again, she watched his movements carefully. The air moving through his vents slowed, the tension loosening just a bit; he was trying to calm himself down, to calm the shaking that was causing him so much trouble.
Her gaze fell on his hands as they trembled uncontrollably, long talons for fingers that were not made to grasp tiny gears or hold fragile trinkets... Hands that were not truly his, and constantly fought him in every action he made. Such intricate motions were still hard for him, trying to make micro-movements and holding other pieces perfectly still, and praying to Primus that he didn't suffer an involuntary jerk that sent the tiny components flying across the room.
Why had he taken on such a delicate occupation when he had faulty parts, some had asked. Because it was what he loved doing, no matter what condition he was in.
"Your motor function's a lot better, have you been doing those exercises they showed you?"
"Heh... You know I have, Whirly. You're there to make sure I do 'em..."
The gear clinked back and forth, but finally, it plopped right in place, and both of the bots relaxed. The tweezers clattered to the table, and her father's hands went to his helm as he gave a hard sigh.
"Hey, don't be hard on yourself. You're doing a lot better. You haven't dropped your tools on the floor in weeks." She wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her helm on his shoulder. "You're doing great..."
Her father didn't respond, but the dull ache in his EM field eased just a bit. She felt him lift his helm and then reach forward, "Hmm? What's this?"
Whirl lifted her helm as he grabbed the pamphlet, flipping it over to examine its writing. She felt a stillness to his spark, and then the waves of relief and joy that washed out of it and encircled hers.
"You got in...! Oh Whirlybird, that's great news!"
Whirl released him just long enough for him to turn around on the stool and embrace her properly. "Y-Yeah...! I made it in!" Her own excitement reignited as she felt his, "I wasn't sure how happy you'd be, you know? It's a long way away from here, so-"
"Oh Whirly..." The mech's EM field smiled, "...You have no idea how happy I am. You're following your spark, doing what you want to do rather than whatever someone else decides you're made for. I am so excited that you're growing up in a time and age where you can be whoever you want to be... And I know you'll be an amazing rescue bot."
Whirl gripped his armor tightly, "Thanks, Dad...!" Her voice modulator cracked, "You... You promise you'll keep working on your clocks?"
"You work hard, and I'll do the same... We'll call and make sure each of us is keeping our end of the bargain, okay?"
"Sounds good...!"
Whirl had no idea what it had been like for her dad, growing up just as she had, but being told he could only be one thing when he desperately wanted to be another. Of course he would be delighted to see her have that choice, to be herself.
She would do well, and she would graduate the Rescue Bot Training Academy with the best marks... She would make him proud.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I plan on doing one of these for each of the other recruits (Hotshot's is already up) but Whirl's second!
About Wally's Costume...
No, Wally ain't wearing a devil costume because he's evil (he has in fact, been brought to slight insanity given his circumstances though)
He's wearing it because it represents how he is quietly defying the authority. And who's the authority? The company and/or puppeteers of Playfellow Workshop. I mean that's what I THINK his costume means.
So at the time of the Halloween video, you see Wally eat with his eyes by biting an apple. Of course in religious context, that as we all know, symbolizes gaining knowledge. So was it on that VERY Halloween that he's gained his eye eating ability? And all other audios and videos we see of him are months AFTER this incident?
We should start thinking about the timelines but that's another topic.
Point is, he's always had an extra sense. And he doesn't eat apples. He just likes to hold them. So the fact he took a bite compliments the "gaining forbidden knowledge" theory. Even though most of the old art with religious themes were taken away, it seems like Clown has decided to incorporate bits and pieces into the new canonical plot.
In the words of Willy Wonka,
"So you're the little devil that cracked the system?" -Probably Playfellow Workshop to Wally before the show abruptly ended.
The revolution cannot be televised after all. But it will be in this current era! No more silencing!
The true devil is the narrator who was cackling like a demon at the end of the narration. A Playfellow Workshop member. I'm rooting for Wally and the WHRP to absolutely annihilate everything Playfellow Workshop stands for once the story is like, 90% completed.
What's hidden in the darkness shall be exposed in the light. Don't forget to wave down below from hell.
Hi there! I'm a huge Sarah Brightman fan. Can you share with me anything you might have from her as Christine (audio and video) in the original cast of Phantom of the opera? Anything you send me will be for my own private listening and viewing, I won't share it anywhere else. Congratulations for the amazing page, and Thanks in advance!
Honestly, there is not that much of Sarah Brightman in Phantom compared to other actresses and especially considering she originated the role. But chalk that up to 80s technology and a relatively short run for her. What I'm saying is that everything that I know exists of her is quite common and publicly available and listed. You can totally use it for private viewing! But it's not particularly secretive or anything.
So for videos, here's the Sydmonton workshop (and audio of it), some rehearsal footage has been uploaded here, here, and here; here's the press reel footage; and here's the only video bootleg we have of her.
As for audios, I've gifted a few in the past so you can look through my trading tag for that. There's only four audios of her, and one of them is the Sydmonton one already linked above, so there's not that many and again, they're very common. I can't speak for whether the links have survived though, things get taken down all the time. Anyway, happy hunting!
