FREE AUDIOBOOK ALERT.
Yep, I absolutely mean it. I've put the audio version of this sweet Regency holiday romance novella - originally published in the Weird and Wonderful romance anthology - up on Youtube for ABSOLUTELY FREE.
Obviously, the catch is that I'm trying to get monetized, but I need 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours listened to for that, so please... click that subscribe button and maybe leave it playing in the background? Pretty pretty please? There'll be more free audiobooks coming soon, promise! I know my biggest fan Holly Mop is already enjoying her storytime...

For practice while tweaking my setup, I did a rendition of @wingedcat13's Call Me Menace
I highly recommend this series; the characters just have such natural voices and are a delight from start to finish.
If you'd like to support my work, commission your own recordings, or demand more recordings from this series, you can find my ko-fi here.

It's true! I have a podcast, called Paper Cuts! The format is something I like to call Live Audiobook, where I go live, and read a book aloud to you, the audience! I then edit that down into what goes on the podcast feed.
Also, I have the book on screen during the stream AND it's in the vod, so people have a fallback to my automated captions!
We're live friday nights, generally, and specifically, this coming Friday, The 13th, is the launch of season 3 of the podcast! It's a new era for paper cuts, we're getting author permission for modern books to get air alongside the public domain classics that got us this far! I'm so excited to show off some more recently-made favorites of mine, and hopefully make some new favorites along the way, too!
Does the thought of a long backlog of episodes sound daunting to you? Don't worry about it, each time we start a new book, the episode is the title of the book, so there's plenty of places to start! We've done some of the big "english class" hits, like Dracula, The Cask of Amontillado, or The Picture of Dorian Grey, but also some weird little hidden gems I think you'll love, like The Five Jars, The Last Man, or even some issues of Astounding Stories!
Long story short, if you like audiobooks, you'll love them live, come drop by and enjoy Paper Cuts!
That's the link for when we go live!
And there's the podcast feed! (I'm also available in your podcatcher of choice, like spotify, or iTunes, for example!)

I'm starting to record the Love, Lies, and Cryptids audiobook next week.
Any opinions on how the characters' voices sound? And before you state the obvious—please keep in mind that I, and all the characters, are American. 😂😂😂

As soon as I heard Jelani Alladin’s audition to be the audiobook narrator for “My Government Means to Kill Me,” I knew he was the one for the job.

I'm so stoked to share my first author interview with the inimitable Matt Haynes, narrator of The Shabti audiobook! You can check out a sample of the audiobook (and preorder it!!) here.
This is part of Matt's Process Series, where he chats with authors and other narrators about the magic that goes into writing books and giving them a voice. Check out the rest of his channel if you find that stuff as fascinating as I do!

It's midnight, and all the chapters are edited and submitted!!
I hate that this took me a year.
It is a good story, and it has some great tension build up scenes. By this point, I'm very invested in all of the characters.
I finished recording everything last June, but for some reason - I'm thinking how life kicked me in the lady balls so hard I almost crashed and burned my life - I didn't get around to finished the edits. So, I did 6 chapters in one day.
Between lunch and dinner breaks, it took me from 1pm to 12am to edit 6 chapters, mastering them so they're ready to be sent out into the world as an audiobook.
See, I knew this story was good, because even though I wasn't editing, the story and its characters were still in my head. I'd think about them periodically.
Even if she doesn't ask me to narrate book 3, I'll still read it.
This is a 4 book series.

I just found out an audiobook site I’m working with (I narrate audiobooks as one of my jobs) requires audio at a different db than every other site and/or company I’ve worked with. I have to re-record and edit hours of work and a wood chip making truck just parked in front of my house and is shredding trees to make wood chips. My studio is soundproof but it’s no match for a woodchipper.
I am going to cry.

So I'm a LITTLE bit late (look I've been hella busy working on the 2023 books!) but here's my 2022 year-end summary for my narration work.
214 hours completed and 34 books recorded (vs 31 in 2021) for over a dozen authors, many of whom were repeat clients, a few who were new to me... almost all of whom have booked me for ongoing series, so a couple of authors whose books were recorded in 2022 but aren't released yet will definitely make it onto the 2023 graphic!
Passed the 100-credit mark on Audible, a significant milestone for a narrator.
Grateful to each and every author who has trusted me to bring their words and their characters to life, especially @thebibliosphere whose huge community of fans was intimidating at first but (live on Discord!) were so incredibly warm and welcoming.
None of this would have been possible without @hitheeprithee, the best proofer/editor I could ask for. I wouldn't have got HALF this done without Theo. THANK YOU.
Looking forward to what 2023 will bring... and if you're an author, you can find out about getting me to narrate YOUR work here.

I've been listening to a lot of romance audiobooks. My choice for the male voice of this audiobook would probably be Zachary Webber.

Been listening to an audiobook read by Steven Cree, and I can’t seem to stop reading things in a Cait Sith like tone now.

Irony can be found in the fact that I like the man’s voice; but couldn’t give a care about Outlander. (my Mom watched the show.)

AO3 Chapters into Audiobook
For this fool-proof tutorial to work, you’ll need a minimum of (1) MS Edge Mobile installed on your mobile device and (2) a stable internet connection. Since I found out about this audiobook trick, I have been enjoying AO3 chapters on my commute or while doing mindless chores. Please follow the instructions below.
Open your desired AO3 chapter on MS Edge Mobile.
Select a short paragraph or a few sentences.
Choose “Read Aloud” on the pop-up function menu. If the selected text is short, you may need to slide or click to the next function pane to see “Read Aloud”.
The Read Aloud function should be working. You may choose your preferred voice or adjust the speaking speed by clicking on the icon on the top right of the player menu. I personally prefer Steffan (English US) as he seems to be the most expressive narrator.
Turn off your screen until the narrator no longer reads any lines.
Unlock your device and return to browse MS Edge Mobile.
Select a portion of text right after where you left off or where you want the narrator to read. Now, the narrator will continue reading the AO3 chapter even if you turn off the screen or switch to browse another app.
To end the narration, simply close (the window of) the MS Edge Mobile app.
I hope that this audio trick will enhance your experience in reading amazing works on AO3. This trick has enabled me to enjoy my favorite fics to the fullest. This trick also works on MS Edge on a computer but to get more narration voices, it is advisable to have Windows 11 installed (I don't know about MacOS). I also welcome any questions or suggestions in the comment 🙌
