I always forget about ao3 functions. Literally only realised you could private bookmarks recently and I only found out you could view statistics like last week. What do you mean there’s a few hundred people subscribed to you and get silly little emails when you post? What a weird little site. But very funny to see other people’s reviews I’m sure the vast vast majority of yours are AMAZING. Long Live is a fic I’ve definitely read more than once- it’s amazing and yeah of course it’s not actual Charles. That’s kind of the thing about rpf, none of it is real. Go read a Leclerc biography and not a fanfic if that’s what you want 😭

that's the beauty of fanfiction, isn't it? i can make my character anything i want them to be. it can be "realistic" or it can be out of pocket or it can be a mixture of both. nobody can stop me in fanfiction. nobody can tell me how i'm "SUPPOSED" to write Charles, because... it's fucking fiction.

i'm not a reporter writing history.

i don't know if i think it's really funny or kind of a shame that many people are going to know tadaima okaeri solely as "the omegaverse bl" when it's actually such a sweet slice-of-life about community, family, the struggles of the older generation to understand the younger and vice versa, recovering from social isolation and how recursive that recovery can be, forging lasting friendships as adults, and so on. it's so wholesome and drama-free that it barely has any plot to speak of, but what it lacks in plot it makes up for in themes and man. what beautiful themes

one of these days we're going to have to reckon with how we talk about and treat fan authors, especially new writers, relative to other fan content like fan art. the blatant and casual disrespect directed towards fic writers is so normalized and i guess not-so-oddly mirrors how (at least the western side) the world has treated authors through the years. if i took half of what is said about fan authors or specifically their work, and applied that to fan art or fan artists, i have no doubt that i would be ripped to shreds.

anyway. if you guys could. like. just refrain from casually dropping how bad you think authors are or how shitty we are at making things. that would be swell.

as if there needed to be more proof of me being the most affected by rina brainrot, after 8 weeks since season 4 premiered (also meaning that if we'd gotten weekly episodes, the finale would've aired today) i added it up and i've officially written a novella length amount of rina and i don't plan on stopping any time soon

finishing up this year's fic log and the total has come out to 3.2M words spread across 202 fics and 75 authors!!! that's more than double the amount of words last year.

despite my best efforts in the second half of the year, dsmp remained my most read fandom with 2M words and 73 fics. followed by hermitcraft with 645k words and empires with 465k words

It's interesting to stroll around Fanlore reading discussions that took place in 2007 talking about the fractured nature of fandom on LJ and people interacting without having enough context (as in commenting on a post they did not read by a user they do not know) when you're living in 2023 and people distribute likes without reading anything or commenting; when there's supposedly "drama" of unknown origins happening in more than one website at the same time because there's no real "home base" for fandom activity anymore; and we're all carrying on with our lives reblogging things without even looking at previous notes and reactions to that same post even if out of simple curiosity...

Meet us at the Milk Bar is a really good fic. It’s about all the NPC‘s in Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask getting together one by one to spend their last hours until the moon falls onto them, and man. The emotions. You don’t even need much context from the game to understand it (though it obvs has more impact that way) so please, read it.

That’s kinda the main one rn but for a bunch of other stuff (ignore it, it’s just a lot of self-indulgent fic recs)

Harry Potter and the Lack of Lambsauce. A fic about Gordon Ramsey (the way he‘s presented in his shows) being a professor in Hogwarts. I know it sounds like a pure crack-fic, but isn’t, has 99 chapters and is genuinely pretty good as far as I can tell. And I don’t even care about Gordon Ramsey, let alone Harry Potter.

The Heart and Soul Series which is pretty much the Kirby fic series (I don’t. Actually read anything Kirby related otherwise, surprisingly). Though, granted, it needs a bit of character context. Enemies to friends but they’re still rivals and also idiots.

(grabs the funny subway man) YOURE GOING BACK HOME FUCKER is not a crack fic. It’s a submas reunion fic. The Hurt/Comfort is real and strong with this one

And also 97% of what I read is in Legend of Zelda & related fandoms, sooooo. Yeah. If nesting multiple readmores into each other were a thing, I‘d put one here, but alas. I

How to kill a God Really engaging Murder Mystery with lots of world-building. Might as well be Original Work. Which is great so you don’t even need any context!

A Fishing Rod in Hand is Worth 2 in System Memory LU but glitches are a thing. Whatever this particular type of "4th wall break but not quite“ is called (Undertale does that too) I like it. + Crack treated seriously is always fun. + this has an actual story, so honestly I‘m not even sure if it can still be called crack, + it comes with descriptions for all the glitches, + while it says 6/? the way it currently ends makes for a pretty good open ending so it’s cool
