Some of the reasons I think Stolas is on the spectrum

(finally getting around to popping this on up too).

He has special interests & misses social cues while being happy in them.

It not really normal to be happy reading legal documents when someone's life is on the line. But Stolas is just vibing that he gets to help with his love of words. Yay him!

Stims

He stims when both happy & sad to help regulate his emotions.

His happy stims are:

*clapping when he gets to take Via to the circus, because he thinks they can enjoy it together.

He also does this with contract reading.

*He hopps up and down when his dad gives him a new books. Also when getting ready for his date with Blitz. He's just so happy he needs to hop.

His sad stims:

*are bang his head again and again about the engagement.

*He self sooves with chest strokes when Blitz says his outfit is too much.

*He hand rubs and wringing his hat when worrying about Via in LA.

Special interests

The there's that Stolas info dumps on the playdate with Blitz all about his books and about plants.

Stolas also feels he has to explain why Blitz horse joke was soo funny. And why's it so funny?

Because it's accurate. I love his little cutie.

But he's also kept up his love of plants as a major hobby now he's an adult. When most people tend to swap interests as they age.

Side bar

His comfy resting hand position is t rex hands. This tends to be an autistic thing. Also works well as an owl.

Sensory issues

Stolas appears to also have some sensory issues too. When his a child he appears to be struggling when Mr Butler touches his hair out of nowhere.

But he's fine with Blitz doing it when they're kissing. This shows a lot of trust between them.

I think it's likely sensory issues are the reason why he swaps into his comfy, very old robe, as often as he can too.

Specific communication issues

While Stolas is very good at some communication styles, he's pretty bad at others.

When the audience think it's another joke about wanting to keep a puppy; he immediately knows Blitz's is panicking the studio. And tries to get to him.

However he doesn't get that his dirty talk is way OTT, because he's mostly likely coping it from the erotica. Not lived experience.

Speaking of erotica.

There's obviously a rule that reading is allowed at the diner table. But Stolas doesn't get This book isn't appropriate to read there.

Another rule he appears to follow more rigidly than most probably would; is that when you get an appointment you wait till you're seen.

Ozzie's ment to met Stolas at noon, but doesn't make it till 4 pm because of problems with work.

Stolas is only a couple of days out of the hospital and is probably feeling horrible.

But he sticks around a minimum of 4 hours to be seen, because he feels he has to.

(I'm assuming he also got taught you turn up earlier rule, but this just a guess).

Stolas genuinely wants to do something Via will enjoy, and he's fine taking Via to stylish occult when she asks.

But didn't get it till she's crying and sad that she wasn't enjoying Loo Loo Land.

"I take it you are.. not having fun." She needs to spell it out. Sarcasm isn't easy for him to interrupt.

His was obviously thought taking his daughter and his lover out to a theme park would be a good way to introduce them.

It's the sort of plot that only works on a novellas. And that's probably when he got it from. (Probably worked great for Gabrielle and Alejandro).

These are examples of him Masking, and not understanding why it didn't work.

Stella's being dangerous to be around = take Via out somewhere for her to have fun to blow off steam.

Wanting your lover and daughter to like eachother = ask IMP to tag along as the completely unnecessary bodyguards.

He doesn't really get that flirty with his affair partner, in front of his kid while going through a divorce isn't a good idea...

He also struggles to understand when his flirting comes off as condescending too. With "ittybity imps like you" or calling him Blitzy in public. He's most likely him coping language from other goeita.

But Stolas is very good at knowing when knowing when Blitz is fine being picked up, when to reassure him with face stokes, or how to calm Blitz down from a panic attack in just a few seconds.

So it's not that he's just never learnt these skills. It's just that some communication skills are harder for him than others.

But if you disagree that fine. 🙂 I just wanted to put down some of my thoughts why I think he could be.

Autism Acceptance Month: Autistic Headcanons

The way Stolas gets so excited to have found something to put on his head in his human form that resembles his second pair of eyes. I love him so much.

When Stolas is really, really upset, he occasionally stims by hitting his head. By Mr. Butler's complete lack of reaction, this must have been a fairly common occurrence in his early childhood.

I like that we see both happy and unhappy stims from him. The repetition feels deliberate, just like how both times see him super excited and anticipatory he does little hops or bounces (hard to tell which without seeing his feet).

Another repeated stim is that when he's happy he tends to hold his fists up by his chest, which you can see in the scenes where he's bouncing too. In Seeing Stars he even shakes his fists because he's so excited to have found red glasses that look like his second pair of eyes (he's so fucking cute, I can't stand it).

I wonder if we will see these same stims more often, now that his mask is off again and he's no longer being told he needs to hide his emotions.

You know what’s pretty sad?

If you’re a high-masking autistic, you know that most people just kind of tolerate you. They want to be around the person you could have been if you were “normal.” It’s reinforced by caregivers, by friends, by teachers, by employers, that you are not who they want you to be. So you try to be “normal.” But you can’t be. That’s not something you’re capable of. The more autistic traits still slip out. And the people around you know you’re not “authentic” but you don’t even know what “authentic” looks like.

I think Blitz fell for the person under Stolas’ mask. When the cracks showed and Stolas was either too tired to fix them, or felt good enough to not need to, or some secret third thing.

Until Season 3 or 4 tells me otherwise, Blitz fell for the person who info dumps about carnivorous plants and reads weird smut and and talks with more 20 dollar words than is strictly necessary and loves words. But he most likely saw that person very far and few between. Just enough to keep him interested. Not enough that he was convinced that’s who Stolas actually was.

If Blitz had been able to say that he was falling for the person Stolas was when he wasn’t masking, and if Stolas was in a place he could have heard it, they’d save themselves a lot of heartache.

As a gay autistic person, I relate to Stolas so much because of it and honestly, I just love the way that Stolas is written because he's so autism coded and as such I can then relate to him since I show similar behaviours as well (stimming for example), a thing I really like about helluva boss is the varied amount of representation in it, it just feels like there's always a character or more you can relate to, and for me that's Stolas and by extension Blitz, which is probably why I put so much stock into helluva boss and Stolitz because I can relate to it so well in my own little way.

Something I love about the Hellaverse is that half if not most of the cast is neurodivergent. Almost every character is either autistic or at least shows some signs of it (Charlie, Lucifer, Loona, Octavia, Bee) has adhd or bpd, (Moxxie, Ozzie, Sir Pentious) has ptsd (Husk) or some combination of the above. (Blitzø, Stolas, Vaggie, Angel Dust, Fizzarolli) I could be wrong about some and possibly could've missed others, but my point is that this is the most representation i've seen for ND people in one franchise. And none of the characters have any negative stereotypes associated with ND people, they aren't demonized (no pun intended) by the narrative nor is their neurodiversity treated as a magical power to inspire people. They just seem like human beings who could actually exist. (Even if they are demons, or technically an angel in Vaggie's case.)

.Issues/Picky with Certain Food Textures. 

.Very blunt and honest to a fault! 

.Super Clingy to your yandere but aversion to sex. 

.Zoning out for hours on end. 

.Sucking on your thumb to self-soothe. 

.Can have meltdowns which only Verosika can handle, with food, comfort/cuddles, and or massages. 

.Obliviousness to the stuff of how people feel, for example, you did not know Verosika loved you until she said it bluntly.

-Yandere Headcanons With Yandere Verosika X Autistic Gender Neutral Reader From Helluva Boss- 

.Verosika had to be very blunt when she confessed her love for you like she had to flat out tell you, LIKE: "I am in love with you (Name)! I want to date you!" 

.You did accept her love and were now dating her, she made sure to get you the best noise-canceling headphones so that you could go to her concerts with her. 

.She would be the one that helps you calm down in autistic meltdowns. By holding you and singing to you. 

.It soothes you and she is able to calm you down no matter how bad it is. 

.She also would be super fucking petty to anyone who made you have a meltdown. They did not deserve to have it easy when they upset you her darling so badly! 

.She loves how clingy you are to her, and she cannot help but cherish it as you being clingy to her makes her yandere side feel great. 

.You should be clingy to her because you are her darling and she is the only one who is worthy of you. 

.She is so jealous that you suck on your thumb, she rather help you self-soothe by kissing you~ She wants to be the one sucking on your tongue. 

.She finds it so cute when you have the hand flappies or when you do your little dances. 

.It shows that you are happy and having a good time and confirms that she is being a good yandere and takes good care of you. 

.She is the one making you happy and you are happy with her! As it should be! 

.As a yandere she is hyper-aware when you zone which you can sometimes do for hours. 

.She takes you in and wonders what is going on in your head. She cannot help but wonder if you are thinking of someone else and wanting to be somewhere else. 

.Since Blitzo had broken her heart, she keeps her guard up with love, and she now has let you in, so she is terrified of her heart being broken again. 

.With that said and her being yandere she is not going to let you go. She will not lose you, not when you are the love of her life. 

.She does not care if you do not love her back, she will make you love her and accept her love. 

.She is a bit cautious though as she does not want to be hurt again, but she will love you with all she has. 

.One of the things with your autism that she is not crazy about, is that you are super oblivious and she has to once again be very forward and blunt with you. 

.She wishes you could pick up on her love a bit more easily as it is hard for her to put it all out there when Blitzo had hurt her. 

.Accept she does love how honestly blunt you are because you are so blunt that when you do tell her that you love her, she knows you mean it. 

.So she does like that part of your autism that when you show your love she knows what you truly mean and feel. 

.She makes sure to give you the best music for you to sit and listen to you and even has you on her dance crew. 

.She adores the time she gets to spend with you at work, and how she gets to be with you most days. 

.She makes sure that there are always your favorite foods at hand so that you always can have something to eat. 

.She will legit get mad if they forgot the foods you liked and would make sure they fixed it so that you can eat because she understand your issue with food textures. 

.She is quick to make sure that it is taken care of and makes sure you always have your snacks and treats. 

.She is a very protective yandere and would not let anyone insult you or make you feel bad for anything not even you rocking back and forth which you do when bored. 

.She does not care who they are! They had no right to make you feel bad. 

.She knows that you panic from about anything and she is always there to help you, she has various self stemming items for you, like your baby/comfort blanket that you use to feel better. 

.As well as having your favorite snacks and just being there to hold you. 

.She also loves how you do your best to match her, it is very soothing to her yandere side as the world can see that you are her are a couple and that no one can take you from her. 

.She would be the type of yandere to publically humiliate anyone who tried to steal you from her or hurt you. 

She even used her most crazy fans to hurt them for laying their hands on you. 

.She is a very caring yandere and actually listens to what you need. 

.she is a very supportive yandere as well, where she would support you with the things you need and take care of you. 

.She is also a yandere who may even put her hands on rivals if they get too close to you. 

.She knows you have an aversion to sex and even though you are clingy with her and love to cuddle her. She knows not to push it too far with sex. 

.She would never for you into anything you did not want and she would cherish the times she can have sex with you, she is a succubus and takes pride in her skill of fucking. 

.So that you do not like sex as much makes her a bit nervous as she is worried she will not be enough for you. 

.In the end, she is a very protective and supportive yandere one that would be super petty and not let anyone live down what they did to you. 

.She is the type of yandere that would hold a huge grudge. 

.She is the type of yandere that can forgive you always but rivals will never be forgiven and she will never ever forget.

Look I love me some fan art of Blitz interrupting Stolas’ reading for bids for attention and kisses as much as the next person, it’s so domestic and so fluffy I want to die, but as an autistic and a reader myself, if anyone ever interrupts my reading I will become violently murderous.

Blitz *purposefully poking Stolas to be annoying*: “C’mon, whatever stupid book you’re reading can’t be more interesting than me.”

Stolas: “My next ‘stupid book’ will be our bloody divorce papers if you don’t leave me alone!”

Is it a stim in response to overstimulation? I think it could be, as I believe Stolas might be on the spectrum, but I wanna hear others' opinions.
