AI Gone MAD
This was inspired by an article about the Rice University study comparing self-consuming AI to mad cow disease, a topic practically begging for a cartoon.

Class I Quality
Our health relies on our immune system knowing the difference between what's us and what's foreign or abnormal. A protein that very much represents 'self' called MHC Class I on all but red cells is key to that process. This study shows that a previously uncharacterised protein called IRGQ is involved in 'quality control' of MHC class I molecules – directing them to degrade via a mechanism called autophagy if they're not up to scratch. It's also involved in enabling cancer to evade recognition by the immune system

@caseyslappedyouintheface hit me with one of those selfie tag games, uh, a while ago. Since it's her birthday, the bonds of Fair Folk hospitality demand I respond.

BEHOLD! THE UNCANNY PANDA MAN! DOES HE HAVE A FACE UNDER THIS THE MASK? IS IT WORTH DELVING DEEP ENOUGH INTO #AUTOPHAGY TO FIND OUT?
Who can say, really?
As usual, if you want to do it, consider yourself tagged. No pressure.

This was supposed to be for Nagito's birthday (4/28) but I am such a slowpoke nowadays juggling with life, that I wasn't able to finish it on time 😔 But I finally finished it now!
*DEEPLY INHALES* I didn't think I would brainrot this bad again after the Akechi rollercoaster I went through many years ago 😵‍💫 I started blindly playing Danganronpa 2 this year and HOLY MOLY WHAT A RIDE THAT WAS 😳😳😳😳 Nagito was so entertaining that I developed a brainrot, and I had to do something about it before I physically implode soooo here I am 🫠
This is just a snippet. See the full version of the video on Youtube below! ⬇️

Bacterial Block
Cells 'digest' excess in their own endoplasmic reticulum (the organelle that 'builds' proteins) and faulty proteins by autophagy (self-eating). Here researchers show that a type of Salmonella inhibits autophagy by blocking a cell protein called FAM134B and so increasing the bacterial infection. FAM134B therefore plays a role in immunity.

Autophagy and Apoptosis: The Science of Fasting Explained
Discover the incredible science behind autophagy and apoptosis—two vital processes that take place during fasting. In this video, Certified Nutritional Therapist Justin Nault explains how fasting triggers your body to repair itself at the cellular level, promoting weight loss, longevity, and overall health. Learn how autophagy recycles old, damaged proteins and how apoptosis targets malfunctioning cells, preventing diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s.
Justin also dives into how fasting helps reduce excess skin after weight loss and preserves lean muscle mass, making it one of the most effective tools for achieving your fitness and health goals. With expertise in metabolism, holistic health, and nutrition, Justin shares practical tips to integrate fasting into your lifestyle.
If you're curious about how fasting can transform your body and improve your health, this video is a must-watch. Don’t miss the chance to explore the science-backed benefits of fasting with the founder of Clovis Culture.

Yes, I refuse to change my bio weight.
*because it's not real* ✨️👀👌🤣🙌
I did make it thru my reading assignment. Woo! Got my quiz and stuff done yesterday. This week they are more assignments so I plan to start today.
Start today and actually study. Get the reading done today and then review review review. Actually study, not just cram the reading and slam the quiz like a pre-concert shot.
My friend wants to make plans to go for a drink the day of the election. I said no. I will not make plans for that. "Oh, are you sure?" Yes mf. I am sure. "C'mon, we should go for a margarita." Dude, WTF. I have had 1 shot in the last almost 3 years. I will not be drinking. I will not be making plans to go out on a weekday. I will also stop talking to anyone who pushes booze on me, that is your problem, not mine. Is it forever? Fucking maybe! And who gives a shit if it is! Maybe it is just for the weight loss portion of my life, but fucking A- NOOOOOO. No no no.
I did go to the UC about my shoulder, and verified it is not broken, it is just a joint injury. Rest it and ibuprofen. I miss working out already.
But it does makes me want some autophagy. 👀
I remember how awesome that was.
It has been so long and I have a metric shitton of loose skin or so I perceive.
I am working today but don't want to be. I am currently on lunch and obviously procrastinating going back to work.
I want to be sitting in my recumbent bike, watching Castle. Reading books for pleasure.
I am at 120 oz water for the day so far.

Autophagy
The consumption of the body’s own tissue as a metabolic process occurring in starvation and certain diseases. "The process of starvation-induced autophagy was recently the focus of extensive research." The destruction, consumption and elimination of damaged, mutated or redundant body tissue cellular components occurring in vacuoles within the cell.
Tumblr media
An individual may induce autophagy in their body by performing an extended time of fasting. An example is a journey that includes a 36-hour fast once a week. During the fast, it is permitted to only drink water, plain coffee or tea, and take supplements that don't contain any macros (sugar, fats or proteins.) The fast begins after dinner at 6 p.m. and skips food for the entire next day. On the third day, the fast continues until noon. When the fast is broken, reintroduce food gently and, if possible, avoid carbs so that your body remains in ketosis, which is a fat-burning state. The remarkable thing about autophagy is the body's ability to clean up tissue waste (such as damaged, mutated, aged or zombie cells,) and promote hormones for the rebuilding of new vital cells. Could this be a preventative key component to healing and well-being?

A tagging and tracking system called palmuscle for monitoring the growth and fate of around 5000 fast myofibers [muscle cell] as zebrafish larvae develop. The analysis finds larval and adult myofibers are distinct – larval ones are removed by a process called autophagy
