Avengers ranking for who would be worst to best at ice hockey?

the scream i scremt upon seeing this....nonathy.... stop calling me out like this (no actually continue i love this sm. my hockey brain is so happy w this question). HERE is the answer

worst to best:

logan: it's not that he's too short, its that he's too short and he keeps getting suspended for dodory (he doesn't care enough)

wanda: winger, 4th line (not very good). it's not that she's bad, but she doesn't live and breathe the sport and she has no skill at defensive plays. her style is chaotic and her sauce (passes) are so sweet tho.

jessica (drew): a finesse winger. she's okay at stick handling but the physicality of fighting along the boards etc. doesn't come natural to her. gets into fights for chirping

peter: whiz kid, #1 draft pick narrative, probably sustains a heavy injury in his first season up that doesn't get proper care and he's traumatized by the experience. he's good at hockey, but i don't know that hockey is good for him.

tony: a goalie with a damn good eye and impeccable reflexes, but has some health complications and has to enter into employee assistance program a couple of times. has probably scored on the other team on a night when his team lost.

jan: winger who is wicked fast but gets in her own head a bit too much. excellent at gloving it down in the air and bad at cherry picking in the blue - gets called for goalie interference a decent amount.

sam: center/winger. he's versatile and damned fast, has a big stride skate and uses a whippy stick but he has a tendency to shoot high and he's not great on the PK. a balance to steve.

clint. a winger who can hit top shelf from the blue line. really good actually. great at zone entries, terrible at puckdrops. not so great at defense or skating backwards.gets annoyed when people don't remember he's deaf and ask why he didn't hear the whistle.

steve: a d-man with a wicked slapshot. stupid good and scores far too much for a d-man but says it like it's no big deal and won't let anyone compliment him instead of the team. has trouble on the powerplay and gets flack for not being more of an enforcer on ice.

luke: started as a forward, becomes a d-man. a playmaker w a very aware playing style. super rigid stick (haha) and really good at forcing turnovers. gets frustrated by varying interpretations and applications of league rules and doesn't let it go w the refs; a good leader but sometimes gets drawn into fights at key moments.

carol: center. fantastic player, never quits, shoot out ace, rink rat, spends too much time thinking about the flex of her stick and her wrist shots. she likes defense and is seeing a sports therapist to work on her on ice and off ice balance. she says she's the best because she wants it the most.

Bites, smites. The actual qualifier for becoming a vampire is being so damn charismatic that you acquire 3+ simultaneous love interests. Germany, on the other hand, was just glad that the plane shot down wasn’t on their territory, and to make sure that anti-Baronihead shippers wouldn’t harass people, they made citizenship laws more lenient as Germany as a whole is, in fact, pro-Baronihead. Therefore, the Baronihead shippers would be protected from any and all harm

You literally cannot go wrong with Ouran shipping... all of the characters just have such great chemistry. Personally I’m a huge fan of the ‘one big happy incest family’ take on the group! Tamaki is the Daddy and Kyoya is the Mommy and everyone gets enough hugs and cuddles and they all love each other a lot. There’s just not enough poly content for this fandom!!

It was a normal Thursday at the compound. Thursday was one of the rare days that Peter didn't have his college classes, no internship, and he waits til dusk or later to start his Spidermaning. So he was taking up his normal midday past time.

Napping.

It's not often he gets down time. But Bucky really started forcing him to rest.

So here they were; Peter and Bucky spooning. Peter with his noise canceling headphones that Tony made for him to sleep in. It's so much noisier in the day time. Peter in the cute pajama set that Natasha got him, Bucky just in his boxer briefs.

Peter is knocked out, Bucky is relaxing, just on the edge of sleep. Move his metal hand over Peter's stomach, just lightly rubbing. His eyes fly open, he spreads his fingers and slightly presses. It's faint. But it's there. He starts piecing it together. While Peter's abs are still in great shape, they aren't as sharp as they used to be. Lower stomach slightly pouchy.

Peter was an Omega. He should of had a heat 2 weeks ago. He remembered someone complaining about it cause they were all away on a mission. It's happened where one heats skip... but everything is pointing to the only conclusion.

For once, Carter didn't feel tired when she returned to the compound after work, even though the sun hadn't risen. She wasn't quite energetic enough to go for an early walk, but... knew sleep wouldn't come easy, even with curling back up against her love. She didn't want to disturb them, anyhow - not when she figured they would be up within a couple of hours - and... admittedly, coffee sounded good. Did she need it? No, most definitely not, but it wasn't like caffeine did anything to her energy levels, anyhow.

It didn't take long for her to get the coffee pot up and running, with it only set to brew two mugs' worth. She leaned against the counter as she listened to it chug along, and stifled a yawn. Perhaps she should have gone back to bed, but she wasn't about to waste perfectly good coffee, and she shook her head to wake herself a bit more. She could nap later, after all, if she was that exhausted. Besides, it was rather peaceful, despite the quietness of the compound, and she wanted to enjoy that just for a while. To see the sunrise before she retreated back to her room.

As the pot finished brewing, Carter poked around for one of her favorite mugs, and poured herself a cup. She kept it black, not really in the mood for something sweet, and cradled it close in both hands. Still leaned back against the counter as she gazed out the windows, and--

Her attention quickly snapped toward the sound of approaching footsteps - more curious than anything else - and blinked in surprise when she saw Drace. Was she normally awake so early? "Mor-morning," Carter greeted with a small smile. "There's- there's still coffee if you'd- if you'd like some."

((I couldn't pick which ship of ours to mention, so I just left it vague sdhjfdg - maybe both Basch and Ashe to make it easy? but we can figure that out later xD))

Gabranth had told Drace about certain useful things in this time period... such as alarm clocks. She didn't quite understand the need for them, as they seemed like a crutch for those who lacked self-discipline. Although, she did find it extremely amusing to hear that Gabranth made use of not one, not two, but three five-minute "snoozes" each morning before he finally arose. The term "morning" was also used lightly, as she well knew Gabranth rarely rose before the eleventh hour of the morn. He made up for that by remaining awake until a much later hour than she, but she still teased him about it in private. He teased her right back, citing that she insisted upon rising at an "ungodly" hour.

What he called ungodly, Drace called the proper combination of brisk and rousing. There was something about rising before the sun and being around to feel that transition into morning and all the associated energies that stirred because of it. It helped her to feel more alert and prepared for her day to start it with that change in light, energy, sound, and activity each morning.

However, since having been cursed by being transferred to this time period, she found herself almost exclusively surrounded by night owls. The only ones who seemed to rise at or before the dawn were those irritating Dalmascans, sun-worshippers such as they were. Besides them, everyone else seemed content to sleep half their day away. How did anyone stand it?!

On this particular morning, Drace had emerged from her quarters at the usual hour in search of breakfast to pleasantly find that she was not the only one with that idea. As Carter greeted her, Drace nodded in return. "Good morn to you as well, Stark," she said with a cordial air. Unless otherwise directed, she referred to all by their surnames, except for the Princess of Dalmasca, who oddly shared her surname with that of her own kingdom. Truly it was the pinnacle of self-aggrandizement to name one's country after their own House. Nevertheless, she knew that Carter was the daughter of the lesser noble Tony Stark whose vast wealth appeared to be the backing for much of the Avengers equipment, housing, and other supplies.

"I would, thank you," she said graciously in answer to the offer of coffee, making her way to the pot and pouring herself a cup. "'Tis a true relief to see that I am not the only one housed at this facility who is awake during the early morning hours. I've been hard-pressed of late to find a single soul in this place willing to rise much before the stroke of noon. 'Tis as if I am living amidst a colony of the undead." She was joking of course, but really, she was glad to see literally anyone else up at this hour.

I do for sure have some Thoughts on Apollo & Ares so I shall start there.

Apollo & Ares

Favorite Son and Least Favorite Son.

After Apollo was born, we all know he went on a mission to avenge his mom. That included killing Python, but I also headcanon this preteen storming up to Ares and demanding a fight for his mom's honor.

This was brought on because in the mythos, Ares actually chased Leto around and drove her from place to place, never letting her rest for long.

Obviously, Apollo isn't too keen on this and demands a duel.

Ares takes one look at this kid and goes you know what? I like his spunk. I'm keeping him. and lo and behold Apollo gets distracted by Ares showing him how to properly grip a sword's blade.

Also fun fact! In Ancient Greece, fathers raised their sons and mothers the daughters. Fathers would teach their sons how to swim and write, so this gets interesting once you put ToA's context with it.

In all honesty, I don't think Zeus was too involved in Apollo's growth. He was still there, of course! Enough to have a hold on him and. well. manipulate/gaslight him/abuse him.

However heartbreaking it would be to think about Zeus teaching Apollo these things (my heart. my poor sobbing heart.), I would also find it heartwarming if Ares did that instead.

Or Poseidon. But I personally think he taught Apollo how to ride horses. Let Ares have his thing :3

Because wouldn't it make sense that if Zeus couldn't find the time teach Apollo, then that responsibility would fall to the eldest son?

Okay so. Diomedes tried to stab Apollo a few times when he was rescuing Aeneus, and Apollo CANONICALLY tells Ares about it - and lo and behold, Ares gets into a fight with Diomedes (and gets shish-kabobbed).

Apollo: Yeah three times.

Ares: WHY.

Apollo: Aphrodite's kid? Aeneus? I was saving his ass after Diomedes stabbed Aphrodite.

anyway. Apollo & Ares would also watch battlefields and Ares would basically be like "right. this is how to properly disembowel your enemies!" gruesomely decapitates some poor mortal. "See? Easy!"

also they would sing!!! war hymns and other things. Ares can dance too btw :3

also when Aphrodite and Apollo were polyculing with Adonis, Ares was doublely jealous because Adonis is 1) taking the attention of his girlfriend and 2) banging his favorite brother

Ares also cautioned Apollo about drawing too much attention to himself, especially Zeus's.

Too bad Apollo didn't quite take it to heart...

I think Ares already knows Apollo is being abused by Zeus. He knows the signs. He knows what's happening...because it happened to him first.

He would drop hints. Which...weren't very subtle, and kinda freaked Apollo out a bit because ohmygodsdoesheknow-?

And when Revolution time came around? You bet Ares sensed it coming from a mile away.

And perhaps he did...hmm...like with the master bolt theft...ooo gonna have to marinate that for a bit. see what i can cook up there. or if any of you have theories shoot them at me!

back to the thing. Once Ares catches wind It's A Go...he's gonna be on Apollo's side. Because godsdammit he's sick of Zeus and his horrible parenting a good war would give him a clean slate.

...Even if he has to put up with both Hera and Athena.

Apollo & Hephaestus

okay so. I haven't thought much about them because they are elusive for me BUT-

and I think Apollo does like Hephaestus! I remember there was a moment where Apollo mentions being in his study or something and missing the entire 40s or whatever staring at Hephaestus's Newton's Cradle.

why was apollo in there. and did hephaestus let him in there?

BECAUSE HEPHAESTUS IS A PRIVATE GUY RIGHT? WHAT'S APOLLO DOING IN A PRIVATE ROOM OF HIS?
