I think iceland would generally have a very black/white thinking of the people around him. Because of his childhood isolation and childhood traumas, he tries to sort people into "good" or "bad", so he always struggles around those he had a complicated relation to

I feel this would be more obvious during heightened tensions between iceland and Denmark, when iceland was in his more independent rebellious teenage age, and for a while categorized Denmark as "bad" despite Denmark never really doing anything specifically against him, as Denmark would be the one trying to find solutions for them both that would work (as he wouldn't think ice was ready to be fully independent just yet)

Same goes for America, he very frequently goes back and forth on his opinion, unable to settle for a nuanced middle, he always feels the need to either see him as good or as bad

He more frequently than not categorizes him as bad than good, it's only when America does something specifically good for him that he views him as good, especially with their very complicated relation to one another during the cold war.

Especially with his struggles with isolation and abandonment, when he's frustrated with people he wants to be alone but he so desperately doesn't want to feel entirely alone again that he always comes back to people, so when others around him don't support or give him what he needs. He runs to the next best option (I.e. 2008 crisis when he resorted to Russia after unsuccessfully trying to get financial aid from western countries)

This probably so random but like considering how old some nations are, do you think the nordics like smoke or not? Are they the type to do that do you think or are they more drinkers? Iceland kinda gives vape teen vibes ngl lmao

Good question!

Considering them being centuries old, I imagine they have tried most of it at some point - all of them being smokers between the 1940s and the 1990s. After this, there was a lot more focus on a healthy lifestyle and that smoking was bad for you, so the society has changed in that regard. Apart from maybe Iceland, they are still all mostly drinkers, not smokers.

Norway especially is a bit obsessed with "living healthy". He always goes on runs and stays active throughout the day, so he has given up smoking completely and have not smoked in at least two decades now. His main vice now is energy drinks 😅

Sweden has mostly given up smoking as well, but nothing can make him quit snus 🙈 He always has a box on him.

Denmark and Finland don't really smoke daily, but they are social smokers and will have a cigarette at a party or when they are out with friends who also smoke. Denmark hangs out with Netherlands a lot, so you could probably say he is a consistent smoker, but he still insists it's only in "social circumstances". Too bad he is very social 🤷
