Disgustingly messy and crusty sketch dump but I couldn't get my own terrible theory out of my head and ended up making a bunch of sketches about it. Also at the end a bonus dickbats and Damian doodle bc I was reading an issue of their Batman and Robin run (IDs in Alt)

no but for real not to beat a dead horse that i havent seen and dont plan to but they keep trying to do live action atla and i just Do Not Get It? its already been done? quite well? the original cartoon is very good and it doesn't feel like its actually really lacking in a way that a remake would improve upon, and it doesnt seem like either remake has improved upon it, and it doesnt feel like they ever get the tone right either? and why are they only ever trying to adapt atla? why not the comics? or korra ? the adventures of fire lord zuko. i mean fuck i dont even like that they turned toph into a cop but they could do a Toph crime drama procedural. probably shouldnt i dont think that would be good but at least it would be like. a new idea. fucking, adapt the kyoshi novels maybe. i wont forgive you if you fuck them up of course, but im already not forgiving the live action ATLAs so like idk. why not try something new. something a little more original.

*scratching at the walls thinking about how no one has adapted Peter’s college arcs in a consistent and satisfying way.*

#coffee bean gang #spider-man #I was almost asleep but now I’m thinking about how there isn’t one piece of media out there that checks all the boxes #of adapting Peter in college + the coffee bean gang + doesn’t downsize the group or combine characters #+ does everyone in a decent way even if it’s not strictly comic accurate #raimi trilogy is one of the only ones that heads pretty quickly into the college era and also involves more than just gwen or mj #and as much as I like the films it does not handle the three of them in a way that scratches the itch for me #I mean for one it’s only Peter Harry and MJ. I like those three arguably the most but man the dynamic isn’t the same #especially bc Tobey’s Peter is much more serious and quiet/awkward with negative charisma (affectionately but still.)#MJ is mixed w Gwen’s personality which was disappointing to me bc I like MJ’s weird and super vibrant personality #and Harry loses some of the ‘kind of a sweet guy but very VERY fucked up’ and relies too heavily on Harry becoming the goblin for revenge #I sound super critical of the Raimi versions qhwjrjwkr I DO like them I do but it feels like completely alternate interps of the characters #most focus on spider-man’s origin which I totally get but also. Peter’s most interesting arcs happen in college #that’s why everyone has to adapt them into the high school years #(which they can do bc Peter was largely friendless during that time and was still fighting some truly d-tier guys #in between the forming of the famous spidey rogue gallery)#I mean I wouldn’t even complain if they chose to do the high school years and actually DID those instead of pasting the college arcs on it #I haven’t watch the 90s show but I want to— does Harry exist in that one bc I know they took out Gwen #at the risk of sounding like That kind of tssm fan. the closest we got to that dream was that show #bc they WERE gonna follow it into Peter’s college years and you could see them setting the gang up #it still fell into the ‘everyone is a childhood friend’ thing so the characters could all be there but it’s one of the most bearable ones

imagine if instead of having vic mignogna keldeo, we got an iris movie about her relationship with kyurem

#yknow the sinnoh movies also sorta have this issue but i think ik why the unova and kalos movies feel so weird #theyre not character movies #they dont focus on the relationships between the characters or their goals. and if they sorta do its all ash focused but loosely #volcanion did sorta come close through making ash at risk for most of the movie #but even then. idk theres not a lot there for ash as a character if that makes sense #like remember max got a movie with jirachi and may kinda got one with manaphy and lucario was focused #on ash and pikachu’s relationship #heroes was also focused on ash’s strengths as a character and his relationship with the latis was really important #and not all the og movies were like that #like the original wasnt really a character movie for the os trio. but we still frequently got them #and then after sinnoh. its just ‘’let the mythical wiggle at the screen for a bit to promote the games’’#and ik everyone has complained abt this but its so blatant in the keldeo movie especially bc that movie completely breaks the lore to make i #it work #for the sake of just. getting the movie done i guess idk #and its so distracting for kyurem bc the whole point of the alternate forms is that theyre fusions and kyurems trying to make itself whole #nah nope kyurem is just a scary ice monster who does that normally amd theyre just normal changes and not fusions bc thats too complicated #what do you mean we couldve done something legitimately really interesting here with one of the main characters. who cares we gotta get this #out on time #actually i do think some of it probably boils down to deadlines and the movies being an obligation really #tbf the beginning stuff with keldeo was cool. i thought so anyways #but then ash and co get there and its just forgettable #echoed voice

It's difficult to describe growing up my entire life thinking my copy of All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 was in fact simply All Dogs Go To Heaven.

thinking about how one of byan's nicknames was originally supposed to be yanyan, hence the url byanyan, but it never caught on/stuck bc it was supposed to be specific to only certain people... so it just hasn't been a thing for three whole years but i haven't had the energy to come up with a new url

anyway last night when i was getting ready for bed i was thinking abt blue mist for the first time in ages and realized cris/jo would make more sense having already dated and broken up. like picture the opening to illuminae when kady and ezra break up like three hours before the kerenza invasion. and then fall in love again from the different ships. imagine you break up with your secret girlfriend in the 80s before you go to tour colleges and when you come back shes gone. and no one remembers the gas station she used to work at except you so you go on a crazy cross country road trip trying to find her and the station doesnt seem to exist and it turns out she was killed on the premises and the station is slowly causing rifts in spacetime as it tries to keep her alive. and youre still petty and mad because youre seventeen (and have been for years now) but also the only one who can find her. someday ill end up writing it in full and then you will all see <3
