FCG: "his name was Percival Frederickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolodex III."
FEARNE: "He made my son a gun."
IMAHARA JOE: "The Terrible Tinkere of Tal'Dorei?"
-
FCG: "He was not a nice guy, but his wife was great"
IMOGEN: "and hot"
-
LAUDINA: "And this is Pâté de Rolo III."
-
LAUDINA: "He's the Terrible Tinkerer of My Heart."
SAM: "The Rotten Rodent of death Rolo?"
I know its mainly because Vex is Laura's former character, but I love that Imogen feels the need to bring up the attractiveness of a woman who canonically looks a lot like Laudina.

Digital Good Omens 2 Sountrack is coming out in 4 days! 🥳 CD version in October! :) ❤ Coming soon on vinyl…
Tumblr media
Out to Stream/Download from 25th August. Out on CD 13th October. Coming soon on vinyl…
David Arnold’s ‘end of the world’ complex and multi-genre soundtrack.
From the Award-winning composer of Sherlock and Casino Royale comes a follow up to the hugely successful, Emmy nominated Good Omens soundtrack.
Good Omens series 2 premiered on Prime Video on 28th July. The series follows the odd couple, angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) in their quest to sabotage the end of the World. The six-episode sequel to the popular adaptation of the novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, concerns the Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) arriving without his memories to Aziraphale’s bookshop. Aziraphale and Crowley attempt to find out what happened to Gabriel, whilst hiding him from Heaven and Hell, both eager to find him.
The Soundtrack
David Arnold’s soundtrack to Good Omens was first released in 2019 to favourable reviews, with BBC Music Magazine calling it “a rollicking trip to hell and back”. Blueprint Magazine described it as “a great listen” and Sci Fi Bulletin commented on “plenty of memorable themes” to conclude that “This is another work of art from Arnold”. At times nostalgic and eerie but always varied, beautiful and full of excitement, the Good Omens 2 soundtrack showcases Arnold’s every skill from his composer arsenal. Featured here are orchestral arrangements with sprinkling of Sugar Plum Fairy pizzicato and percussion, jaunty strings and mighty choral sweeps from Crouch End Festival Chorus. Added to the mix are rock guitar riffs, and psychedelic 70s sounds and all together they create a haunting otherworldly feel, complementing the fantasy and the quirky humour of the show. The spirited Waltz of the opening theme is also present in the second series and it wonderfully sets the scene for fantastical mayhem. In series 2, this robust, evocative, and funny music entity, becomes yet again another character in the story. Award-winning composer David Arnold is well known for his blockbuster scores, including Stargate, The Chronicles of Narnia: the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Hot Fuzz, Paul, Independence Day, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Casino Royale as well as for his TV work such as Sherlock and Dracula. Also available: The original soundtrack to the first series of Good Omens >

Haven't watched this weeks CR yet, but saw some really fucking bad takes online.
One thing I really hate? People giving Bells Hells shit for the combat encounters by comparing them to Vox Machina by EPISODE NUMBER.
"In episode 70 of VM they were fighting Vorugal!"
Yeah, they were also level FIFTEEN. AKA - the last level that the Nein were by the final main campaign episode. Just because it's episode 70 doesn't mean that it's the equivalent of other campaign episode 70s!
I swear, people who bitch about this constantly forget or ignore that VM was played at home for two and a half years before it started streaming. There's just this assumption that it's the same starting point for all campaigns and every other campaign sucks.
HEY. When VM was level 10? They were within the first TEN episodes of the show! They were fighting things like duergar, illithids, oozes, the big bad was a beholder. AND OH YEAH THERE WERE EIGHT PCs, NOT SEVEN. They weren't taking down the conclave here! They weren't going against Kevdak! So stop expecting that the Hells need to be doing just as extravagant combat and bitching that Matt is watering everything down because it 'doesn't compare to VM episode 70'. AAAAGH.

the imogen and ashton of c3e78 is soooo juicy like everything you said about imogen looking into ashton’s thoughts is so real but also in the group she is the only one who can do that. she’s the only one who can see directly what they feel and think and the fact that it mollifies her rage but almost seems to heighten her frustration? ashton and imogen have my fav dynamic in c3 bc of their understanding of pain and how they reflect each other’s selfishness (if that makes sense) and im so excited to see how (if?) this moment becomes anything More
Hey anon, I'm glad you liked their conversation and presumably my analysis, but I have to admit there's a lot in here either I don't follow, or which I can't say I agree with:
FCG can also look into Ashton's mind and chooses not to (slash, might not have the spell slots left for it due to the healing), instead talking through it - and in doing so they jump to some incorrect conclusions, but also I think have a very important conversation and eventually do come to a deeper understanding, and I still think it would be good for Imogen to talk instead of jump to Detect Thoughts.
With that said, I think she is justified given how extreme the situation was, and it's not terribly surprising that looking into Ashton's mind affects Imogen this way! As others have discussed, Imogen tends to judge people based on thoughts rather than actions (eg: reading people's thoughts alone and judging their overall morality from that moment rather than how they behave). I think part of what made this incident different is because she actually processed the combination of intent and action, rather than only intent. I think the fact that it wasn't pure self-aggrandizement and that their thought patterns of trying to connect with absent parents did both mollify her but also frustrate her, because she felt the same thing and she brought it to the party, who told her in no uncertain terms that the Vanguard sucked. She can intimately understand how they feel and also be furious at what they did as a result.
It was a great conversation between them, and I really enjoy whenever Imogen and Ashton interact, and longer RP moments between members of Bells Hells can sometimes be hard to find, but I have to be honest: I've found the fandom's perception of Imogen and Ashton's friendship and the basis of their shared experiences of pain to be vastly overblown. Notably, I found it was often really overstated before episode 70, when they had their great conversation after their time at All-Minds-Burn, because that was their first real talk that wasn't a group chat or Imogen (consensually) probing his memories, so while it's less baseless now, until a few months ago a lot of people acted like they had talked when they really hadn't. (This is true for several Bells Hells friendships tbh).
I also think that the physical drawbacks of Imogen's abilities are similarly vastly overblown; "Migraine Buddies" or what have you is almost pure fanon. Imogen has had like three canon headaches, and one of them was pretty directly tied to the events of the solstice. People just really latched onto her initial characterization and stopped paying attention. That doesn't mean it's not a consideration for her, or at least that it was before she got the circlet! But because she so rarely used the ability that triggered them I understand her best as someone who used to have a chronic condition who had it well-controlled, though with some effort, prior to the campaign, and now has since had a radical new treatment that effectively removes the need for effort. It's still obviously a factor for her; but Imogen's abilities always felt rather more like severe sensory processing issues, or a migraine disorder but one where she could relatively easily avoid triggers vs. Ashton's chronic pain.
I think some of why this fanon arose is because people wanted to project onto Imogen based on those one or two early mentions of headaches, before Ashton's disability was confirmed, and it never really got addressed and so they assumed similarities and kinship between Imogen and Ashton on a basis that was heavily projected. I agree that they have a lot in common - a cynical worldview and low expectations of others; a combination of lack of self-regard that wraps around into self-absorption (the ugly truth of self-loathing is that it is also self-centered and can still hurt others even while also hurting one's self); the above parallels between their parents. I agree that I'd love to see them interact more (thought I'm not sure if by "More" you mean an actual friendship or what) - I think the post-solstice onset arc has really allowed Laura to do what she does best for Imogen now that she's not constantly in the spotlight, and the remaining gap is that her interpersonal relationships with many party members are somewhat lacking - but it's hard to call it my favorite dynamic when it's only just being developed. And for what it's worth, going back to the first point, I think a lot of similar parallels can be found between Ashton and FCG, who do have a more developed dynamic.

nearly 70 episodes in i feel like bell's hells have such a wildly different group energy than the mighty nein did at this point, they still feel like a cobbled together group of misfits turned friends and not quite a family yet and i'm not sure if that's because several of them had strong ties to individuals coming in or because of chet's late arrival or the long-term guests or because they don't have jester constantly pulling everyone towards her and wanting them all to love her and each other

the fact that Bell's Hells are at the "gather your allies" stage for a fight where even level 20 characters are gathering forces when they're only 70 episodes in at level 10 has me worried this might be a "everything will change and we'll enter a New Phase of the campaign" type thing (even though we kind of already did that with the solstice?) and i hope that new phase is "we're exploring the moon now" and not "Imogen has given in and is on the enemy team now"

can we please have the next episode of the amnesia verse?
Dick let himself into your shop and paused at the door to stroke Sammy who was contentedly gnawing on his bone. Happy to look pretty for the customers and keep you company.
"Hey," you call from a ladder, adjusting a display. A tree made from salvaged copper. Handmade necklaces and a few pieces of in expensive vintage jewelry hanging from the lower branches, "Feel free to look around. Let me know if you have any questions!"
"Thanks," he said, roaming towards a display of little collectibles. Kitschy little knick knacks that little old ladies loved to collect. Glass dishes in every color. A few tea sets- one he'd LOVE to send to Alfred if only because it was tacky- peak 70's. Lime Green and mustard yellow with gold leaf making rose details. The man would be beside himself.
He ponders it for a second, wondering how he'd ship it back east when the bells above the door jingle and Dick looks up slowly to see a man. Maybe in his 60's. A farmer, probably. With close-cropped grey hair, a red face and a belly hanging over his belt buckle. "Honey Girl," he panted, "Ya gotta help me-"
"What'dya forget this time Merle?" you ask, looking around the display with a grin.
"Forgot Loretta's GD birthday. 42 years and I swear she changes the date-"
Dick watches, smiling a little when you climb down off your ladder and stretch lazily, "Well," you hum, "Does she know you forgot yet or-"
"Not yet. I stalled his this morning and I got a cake coming from Roxie but I gotta have a PRESENT."
"She still use her vanity?" you ask, unlocking the glass case in front of you.
"Every day," Merle said grinning, pleased with himself, "You really saved my bacon with that one Honey-"
You smile and pull a tray out of the case. On the tray, there was a silver hand mirror- a little tarnished and in want of a polish but Ornate. The slight fog on the actual mirror giving it a magical quality. And two matching silver hair combs. A matched set. Something somene had had made for their daugher when she turned 16. "This might just do it, huh?"
Merle rocked back on his heels and carefully picked up one of the delicate combs, "I dunno kid-"
"Come one Merle, 42 years and I bet she still likes feeling like a princess. Loretta does love a good updo. Some fancy combs for her french twist-" You break off, grinning as his face softened. The man loved his wife. Even if he was bad with dates. And you could see him picturing her face light up.
"Wrap it up for me?" he asked, reaching for his wallet, "Maybe find some nice earrings? Hell you know what she likes-"
"Come back around 11," you tell him, winking. "I'll have it all wrapped and looking pretty. She'll never know."
"Keep my tab under $300, huh? I still gotta pay the mortgage."
"Anything to keep my favorite customer out of the dog house."
"God bless ya, Honey," he said, setting the comb down, "Don't know how I'd stay married without you."
He turns to stroll out of the shop to get his other errands done, skulking around while Loretta was busy getting her hair done, and Dick watched him go.
"Honey?" he asked, watching you set about making a gift basket. Making good on your promise to make it all look nice.
You shrug, face heating when you notice how he's looking at you. "My Grandpa used to keep bees," you answer. "When he had extra he used to sell it but with the horses, sometimes e couldn't drop it off himself- so he used to saddle up a horse for me and send me to town. People startled calling me "The Honey Girl"... After a while it just got shortened to Honey."
"So does everyone call you that or-"
"Any more? People who knew my grandparents are the main culprits- but sometimes it's people who knew me at school."
You feel the heat flood your body and you have to try not to look at his lips, mentally smacking the back of your hand. Sure. It had been a while but-
"What's the matter, Honey?" he asked smirking, "You look a little warm."
"Dick," you protest.
"C'mon," he teased, "Let me see if you taste as sweet as you look?"
But before you can answer the door bursts open and a woman comes in, screaming kids in tow. And Dick had to turn quickly to cover his irritation. Last night, playing pool there'd been tension. A really delicious tension. And this just proved it. You wanted him s bad as he wanted you. He just had to get you alone.

Ok I have a theory for how the course of campaign 3 of critical role is going to play out.
The apogee solstice is right around the corner and there are so many possible different entities attempting to take advantage of it. This was alluded to a little bit in the brief moment Bell’s Hells interacted with Keyleth when she mentioned the time she’s spending in Vasselheim and mage’s working to gain power. Then of course the big one this campaign has been focusing on with Ruidus and all the lore drop of last episode with Predathos.
I think that either Bell’s Hells is going to lose/the conflict is going to be set up in a way that they are mitigating damage not stopping the event, and/or there is something else happening in the background that is going to succeed. The rest of the campaign would be dealing with the consequences of the solstice and working to restore order/rebuild similar to how Emon was just totally decimated during the Kroma Conclave arc in campaign 1. It makes sense with the theme of loss so prevalent in the beginning of campaign 3. Also, I don’t see how Matt could up the odds for later conflict.
They could probably do a year time jump or something similar like has been done in the past but this still feels so early in the campaign to do that. And while they do only have 14ish days til the solstice at this point, they could play out nearly all those hours as it seems to be the travelercon of this campaign and then get to a point at like episode 70 or something where taking a narrative break makes sense compared to the number of hours they have played as these characters.

what do you think about the theory that the apogee solstice will happen halfway through c3 and the back half will be about dealing with the fallout or trying to fix whatever happens
i think its pretty likely. its hard to define "halfway" without knowing when it ends (after all halfway for c1 is 55~ episodes and halfway for c2 is 70~), but given that it took an entire year to get through an in-game month i wouldnt be surprised if around episode 60-70 is when the solstice actually happens. the hells have also got a ton of stuff to do beforehand so theyre going to be busy for the entire month.
not sure about the entire (or at least a sizeable chunk) of the rest of the campaign being dealing with fallout because i think they'll succeed. like, bell's hells is has all the pieces they need to start to sniffing out the mystery and they havent even been to yios yet. i do think itd be absolutely amazing to have the hells live through the second calamity, buuuutt not sure how likely that is to happen

I love your Ashrym takes! I am glad I'm not the only one noticing how Ashton reacts to orym. Idk if I would call it a crush (yet), but Ash is def intrigued! My take is, that Ashton is not used to hanging out with/ respecting people who have their shit and he seems almost intimidated by him?? I honestly think he really likes orym but also has no idea how to interact with him. Which is not helped by Orym shutting down on him so often! Which is the other thing I noticed with those two: Ashton/Tal will try to start a thing and Orym/Liam basically stonewalls him. Not in an unkind way, but he just doesn't react to him. Which is then broken by these incredibly kind moments (stuffing the nettles in his bleeding nose, asking if he's hurt etc) sorry this got long, I am just so intrigued
thank you! I'm glad people seem to agree somewhat ;w;
long ass reply under the cut!
i do agree with your insight on taliesin and liam's characters though! i'm not far enough in c1 to notice anything so i can't speak to it much but i do notice it a lot with mollymauk/caduceus and caleb. i'm not sure i've seen it with orym and ashton thus far, but again, i might be missing it or forgot (hence why i'm relistening!). i'll try to keep an ear out for it, but i think orym is used to wrangling chaotic groups of people (the crown keepers in particular were...wild lil guys) and settles into the "normal and sane one" role.
interesting takes though! i myself am not fully settled into the idea that ashton is crushing on orym (again, only really 70% convinced and i think a good chunk of that is just me really liking ashrym XD) but i do agree that they're at least intrigued by him. i don't know if i think they're intimidated so much as they don't necessarily think they get to be friends with respectable people like orym. like a people like him don't get to be close people like orym, imogen and the like cause they're too good sorta way? i'm noticing as i'm listening through, ashton sorta had this issue with all the bells hells initially, except fearne who seemed more "on his level" and chaotic. everyone else (other than fcg and fearne) they're kinda like...coworker friendly with (idk how else to describe it lol). i also haven't noticed orym shutting down ashton personally, but we also might have different definitions of that ;3; and i might have forgotten or missed it, i can space out sometimes while listening and have to backtrack (which is why i take forever to listen to new episodes).
and don't worry about sending long asks or anything abt ashrym tbh, i'm always down to hear from others abt them !

We're on to V1:E2, as listed on roosterteeth's website. I know what the E stands for, but it took me a second to realize it's V for Volume. I watched V1:E1 immediately before this, so it's two plays of the theme song back to back. The theme fucks severely so I'm not complaining.
I realized the airships have fins and it looks a bit like they're swimming in the sky. That's really cool. Holy shit they switch to standing on all fours to land, I love that. A lot of RWBY's design elements function on the rule of cool, I think. Is it practical to have a gun scythe? Do physics really work that way in combat? Probably not, but it kicks major ass so it's fine.
I feel bad for Jaune, that's one hell of a case of motion sickness. Poor dude's vomited at least twice.
I noticed one of the shadow people doing a jaunty little walk on the way into beacon, that made me smile. Oh damn this episode is only six minutes. In later seasons I remember everything being a more consistent length, but I guess the series was still finding its footing here.
It's funny how Ruby animorphs into 2d chibi art. The flat colors and style of it harken back to the sort of thing I used to see being posted on deviantart by younger artists, which gives me a nice warm sense of nostalgia. I remember posting my wonky anime art online once upon a time.
I think it's cute that Ruby's a weapon nerd. That could be a great vehicle to explain more about how weapons work in Remnant. How a character explains world details can tell you just as much about that character as it does about the world.
I kind of love the poorly recorded stock sound effects. It's something that really roots this in that era of youtube animation.
Weiss assuming that Ruby doesn't know what dust is is likely to explain what it is to the audience, but she's also a brat who would figure that most people are beneath her based on this scene alone. Blake just standing there reading a book is interesting- was she reading and walking at the same time? I forgot that she was a bookworm.
You can really see the anime influence in how they animate the characters. Also in how they're designed, but how they move and emote feels very anime.
I wonder about that wiggly clothing effect. Is it supposed to be wind? I've seen it happening indoors. I'm guessing it's not an error since they've consistently kept it in. Is it for emphasis? It's probably wind.
Blake bringing up the unfair labor practices Weiss' family corporation employs comes back later, I know.
I like Jaune's shield, and I thought it was funny that Ruby pointed out how it weighs the same. Even the "uncool" weapons are neat. It's cool that Ruby forged her own weapon, too!
The outro fucks severely too! The chorus reminds me of music from the 70s in some ways, with the strings and the bells. I clicked off to look up the full song. The guitar solo is pretty good, feels kind of Steve Vai to me.
Oh huh, V1:E3 is another six minute chunk titled pt 2 to the last one. I'll just keep going in this post since it's basically one episode. This was uploaded after the ten minute limit on youtube videos based on how V1:E1 was one ~12 minute chunk, so I'm not sure what's up with that.
Jaune going "Where am I supposed to find another nice, quirky girl to talk to?" And there immediately being another character with real details behind him is honestly pretty funny foreshadowing. If they were animating this one piece at a time before uploading, it'd make a lot of sense if they read the comments about Jaune clearly being an actual character and decided to make a gag from it.
The dialogue can be pretty rough. It reminds me of like. What people think Marvel movies sound like. And I don't like marvel movies.
Ruby reads as autistic to me, maybe some other flavor of neurodivergent as well.
Ozpin's glasses remind me of Vash from Trigun's glasses. I wonder if that was intentional or not.
I love Jaune's footy pajamas. The background boys having real detail was probably just to sell the gag but it might be fun to see them again.
Ruby's pajamas remind me of the Dead Tired line of g1 monster high dolls, with the graphic tank top, patterned pajama pants and sleep mask. I doubt she has high heeled slippers, though. She and Frankie Stein would probably get along pretty well.
Ooh it's a different song this outro! My guess is it's to show off the totally awesome soundtrack. If I had music that awesome linked to my project I'd want to show it off too. I should listen to Jeff and Casey Lee William's discography after this.

I wanna make it clear that Ping is a screenwriter only part-time and he's always gotten his jobs through connections with Jermaine and Omi. Of course he's only one of many screenwriters in the room.
Now, excuse me while I go on a ranting tangent that has absolutely nothing to do with this au.
Why the hell is ge called Ping Pong? He does have an actual name. I get that it's a super long name, and supposedly that's the joke. You give a character a super long and overly complicated name so the other characters are forced to give them a nickname. Kinda like Fez from That 70's Show. But see with Fez we, as the audience, don't actually know his real name. In the flashback scene where he first introduces himself to the other characters there's a really loud and long school bell covering up what he's saying. Not to mention the actors not actually saying a complicated name. He's just listing the names of his coworkers. So the joke in Xiaolin Chronicles really falls flat when we actually hear and know Ping's real name. Maurice Antonio Rolf Jean-Pierre Gaulle LeGrand IV. Just shorten his name? It's really not that hard. You've got a bunch to choose from.
Also, I really hate his character design. I don't dislike Ping as a whole. Not as much as other people seem to have disliked him. But this is still one of my 3 major issues with him (not including the stupid nickname). His design is just so lazy. Whose bright idea was it to just make him a smaller Omi with glasses? I hope it wasn't Christy Hui herself. It's especially weird since he's not even chinese? At least I don't think he is. He was born in Europe, nowhere specific, just Europe. Although given the origins of most of his real name I'm gonna guess he's meant to be French. I could forgive the design if it was revealed he was a literal relative of Omi's. Like they were actually brothers or something but none of the other characters even react to the fact that he's Omi's little mini me. Seems like a wasted opportunity to explore Omi's backstory since he's an orphan raised at the temple. Heck even the original Xiaolin Showdown only had one episode exploring it and it doesn't offer any actual answers. Just an evil plot by Hannibal, Wuya, and Jack to split up the monks.
Second problem I have with him is the convoluted backstory. Keep it simple. Ping is an orphan (like Omi) raised somewhere in Europe (for some reason I kinda remember him being brought up in a temple, not too sure though). He idolized the monks and when he heard they were looking for new recruits he seized the opportunity and went to China. See, simple enough. That's the only bit of information we need. Heck it's more than we got for Kimiko, Clay, and Raimundo. But no apparently he also worked as a messenger delivering mail across Europe due to his immense speed and he lost his job because the mail system evolved to no longer need him. Excuse me? Seriously? Kimiko has a cell phone in this show! The series takes place in modern society. I'm pretty sure majority of the world's mail systems were already developed waaaaaaay before the invention of the cell phone. He shouldn't have even had this type of job to begin with. Speed or no speed. Thirdly, I just don't like the use of his supposed element and just his distinct lack of personality. Ping is the very definition of a Mary Sue character (or a Gary Sue whatever). Perfect in almost every way, instantly befriends main characters, proves to be better than them morally, sad backstory (not too sad in this case thank God), etc. Seriously give the boy some kind of actual personality and feelings. Omi's a total assailed to him in part of the first 3 episodes, let the boy be angry, give him some character flaws like the rest of the monks! And please define what his actual abilities as the dragon of wood are. I swear the only time this stupid reboot let's him use any elemental ability is when he copys the others! What is he the avatar?! It's not enough that Xiaolin Showdown is wrongfully considered a rip off of the last Airbender? You've got to go and actually rip it off in the reboot?! Ugh seriously, I think this upsets me more than my dislike of shadow because Ping is a character with potential. The writing with him was just stupid.
Rant over. Also I officially headcannon Ping to be mixed French-Chinese. Like Marinette Dupain-Cheng from miraculous. God I can't believe I've got an actual headcannon for this show.
