Headcanon ideas since I’ve been negligent in my writing 👻 (work has been insane and I’ve been applying for other positions so cross your fingers for me and my mental healths sake)
More Knight!Billy AU stuff cause I’ve been into Camelot lore
-You’re betrothed to the king, a match that would greatly benefit both your lands. You’d go from princess to queen, it’s what your father wanted for you and as the oldest of your siblings it wasn’t really in your claim to say no.
-It’s not until you’re wandering the castle grounds on your own that you see him for the first time. Sparring with another knight on the lawn. Sweat streaked forehead, hair damp and sticking to the sides of his face as he blocks an attack with his sword. He makes it look so easy, almost like dancing.
- You’re mesmerized watching him move, his footwork precise and calculated. It’s not until he blocks the final blow laughing with his companion and clapping each other on the back when he turns to you. Catching his eye and you see his expression change. The playful laughter dies off and is replaced with wonder, a touch of awe. Taking you in fully, the woman who’d been watching him unbeknownst to him.
- it isn’t until that night after your welcome feast that your betrothed introduces you two. He bows to you, eyes never leaving your face. Your new knight, sworn to protect you. You’d never had your own personal guard before. Handsome doesn’t encapsulate his appearance. Words can’t comprehend, the depth behind his fathomless eyes draws you in and Speaks to you in words only your soul seems to recognize.
-It starts slow. Your conversations walking along the tree lined path in the gardens or along the beach. You notice how he looks away when you remove your shoes to dip your toes in the water, savoring the cool splash of the water. He offers his arm when you crouch to slip them back on. You begin to look forward to your daily walks with your knight, knowing your future husband, the king ,has far too much on his plate to take as much time to speak with you.
- William is the only constant in your ever changing life. It’s months before you work up the courage to kiss him. It came after dinner one night, while he was escorting you back to your chambers. The glow from the candles dully illuminating the hallway, a soft glow from the stars outside casting shadows around you. He bids you goodnight and you take the opportunity to press up from your toes and softly press your lips to his.
-You feel warmth bloom in your chest as your mouths connect and you notice him leaning into the connection as well. His mouth is warm and inviting, a surge of excitement rushes through your veins as you feel the damp heat from his tongue tracing along your bottom lip. His armored hands hold you tight in place, and then you need to come up for air. Lips parting slowly, his heavy lidded eyes gazing down at you a mixture of that same look you saw before ,the first time he laid eyes on you, and something else- that you can only describe as realization.
-What had he done? His dear friend the King was to be wed to the woman before him in less than a few months time and here he was kissing her with abandon. Tasting her mouth, enjoying the sweet noises that managed to sneak past her lips. The heat of her body awakening something primal in him, her breasts pressed against his chest, the overpowering scent of her had him questioning every oath he’d ever made. Was it worth it? He’d been drawn to her at first sight and now knowing she felt the same made the ache in his chest gnaw at him even deeper.
-How could he stand idly by and let this woman be taken from him and yet stand before him all the same? What was to come between them? What had he done? And how could he see to it that she was truly and completely his and his alone?

Ben Barnes' Masterlist - Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
Today is Friday, which implies several things for you.
End of the week, beginning of the weekend. A couple of lazy days ahead to recharge your batteries before going back to work on Monday morning.
Going home to your boyfriend. Hearing him play the piano as soon as you open the door to your apartment. The smell of the scented candle you lit up that morning. Quiet and warm and filled with your shared memories. A smile on your face and a peaceful heart.
Friday night is movie night. Tradition. Friday evening means pizza, cuddles, some snacks while you watch a film lying in your boyfriend’s arms. He’s choosing this week; you take turns, to keep things fair.
You’ve barely taken off your shoes that you hear the notes from the piano fade into silence.
“Darling?” you hear Ben call from across the apartment.
He must have heard some noise, but couldn’t quite recognize what it was. You smile as you answer him.
“I’m home, honey!”
You’re not surprised to hear hurrying footsteps pad their way to the hallway where you’re still standing, taking off your coat and hanging it by the door, next to Ben’s. You put away your shoes, right next to his. Smaller pair by his bigger ones.
When you turn around, Ben’s grinning at you, casually leaning against the doorframe leading to your living room. He’s staring at you, waiting for you to properly step inside your shared home.
A grin of your own spreads across your features the second your eyes land on him. You don’t know what it is about him that simply… makes it easy to forget about work and your busy day and all that you have to do…
Maybe it’s the way his black t-shirt fits him so well, complimenting his silhouette without him even noticing. Maybe it’s his slightly dishevelled hair, after a day spent composing and writing. Maybe it’s the darkness in his eyes where you lose your soul, that still holds more tenderness than you’ve ever encountered. Maybe it’s the way he smiles at you, fond and quiet and soothing… loving…
You’re not sure what it is. It doesn’t really matter. Every time you see him, your heart skips a beat, and that’s enough.
“How was your day, darling?” he asks, welcoming you with a tight hug as you finally step closer.
“Busy. Quite awful, to be honest,” you mumble against his shoulder, breathing deeply his familiar scent, something of oud and something sweeter coming from your shampoo you used this morning as you showered together.
He coos at you, rubbing your back, and you feel your muscles relax under his touch.
“Really? What happened?”
But you shake your head.
“Nothing in particular, just… busy, and I couldn’t wait for the weekend. What about you?”
“It was quiet,” he answers, pulling away just enough to look at you. “Just… spent some time writing and playing the piano. Called a few friends. Had a meeting with my agent to talk about future roles. Then I just… waited for you to come home. Nothing much.”
You grin at his last statement, going on your tiptoes to kiss his lips. And when you pull away, his smile is matching yours.
You head for the bathroom while Ben orders a pizza. When you come out, wearing more comfortable clothes, Ben is browsing on your TV to pick up a film, lounging on the sofa, already snacking on some popcorn.
“You’re not even waiting for me!” you complain with a bright laugh, falling by his side on the couch and stealing some popcorn from his bowl.
He merely shoves a full handful of food in his mouth as a response, making you laugh harder.
“I’m starving,” he explains after swallowing his mouthful.
“I can see that.”
“It’s not my fault if you came home late tonight and spent an hour in the shower…”
“I did not!” you swat him playfully on the shoulder, faking outrage, while he struggles not to laugh too much.
“I’ve timed you.”
“You did?”
“No, I obviously did not! What kind of madman do you think I am?”
“A stalker? A creep?”
“I love when you give me compliments.”
You both can’t hold your laughter anymore, and he wraps his arm around you to pull you closer when you lean towards him as you laugh.
It’s quite late though, on that point Ben is right. Sun is setting, bathing the world in pinkish shades, painting the clouds in orange and gold. The light comes as colourful rays into your home, it bathes the feet of your coffee table and gives every item in the room a warmer shade.
The pizza is soon here, you go to get it at the door. Meanwhile, Ben has made a choice, paused the film to wait for you to settle comfortably again.
“What did you pick?” you ask, handing him a plate and a slice of your favourite pizza.
Ben grins.
“The new Batman movie! What do you think?”
He takes a bite of the pizza, lets out a content humming, before chuckling at the trace of tomato that lingers on your chin because you’ve hurried too much to eat…
“Nice! Good idea!” you nod, letting Ben wipe your chin with a napkin.
“I do think so myself,” he jokes, still amused as you voraciously take another huge bite of the delicious food.
You settle down more comfortably, the movie still paused, shuffling closer to Ben so you’re sitting shoulder against shoulder. He rests his hand on your sigh, giving your limb a tender squeeze through your pyjama pants.
“Isn’t Robert Pattinson playing Batman in this version?” you ask Ben, handing him a glass of sparkling water, and he thanks you with a peck on the lips.
“He is. He fits the role quite well, I reckon,” Ben nods, taking a sip, before putting his glass down on the coffee table.
You grow more excited all of a sudden, and Ben looks at you with amusement, a little puzzled.
“What is it?” he asks, while you happily wiggle.
“Robert Pattinson… dear God… I had a huge crush on him back in the days,” you answer.
Ben raises an eyebrow.
“Really?” he asks, and you notice how his voice is a little lower than usual.
But you nod, humming as you drink some water.
“Twilight… teenager me… Holy shit!” you squeal, wiggling again, and you’re too adorable for Ben not to let out a fond laugh.
“So… he’s your celebrity crush, huh?” he teases. “Didn’t see that one coming.”
“Well… tall, dark haired… is it that surprising?” you answer, and Ben explodes with laughter.
“Oh, I see! So that’s it, then! You’re with me because you have a type…”
“Exactly.”
“So… if Robert Pattinson walked into our apartment now, and offered to take you on a date…”
“Ben… it’s Robert Pattinson. He can do whatever he wants to me, I’m down for it.”
You both laugh, and Ben shakes his head at you.
“Anything? Really?”
“I mean…”
“Well, you know what? That’s it, I don’t want to watch the movie anymore,” he jokes in fake annoyance. “No rival in this house…”
You laugh at him, putting away your plate to wrap your arms around him.
“Aww, my poor honey!” you coo, kissing his cheek a couple of times to make him look at you, and it works. It works every time…
“What? You want to do nasty things with this man!”
“Nasty things?” you laugh.
“Apparently…”
But you shake your head, brushing your nose against his in the process, making him grin from ear to ear.
Faces close, lips almost touching, breathing the same air… you love this. Feeling Ben’s warmth spreading across your frame, his hands holding you close, his beard brushing your jaw when he moves…
You can feel that his heart is pounding, it matches your own heartbeat.
You still do it. After all this time, after the domestic life that has settled in your shared home that fills your days with habits… Ben doesn’t know how you do it, but you still make him feel giddy and excited, just by being near, by a simple touch, by the ghost of a kiss… He should be used to it by now, he reckons, but he isn’t. Something in him tells him he never will be. You’ll always make him feel like this.
That’s love, after all. It holds magic in its simplest form…
“There’s only one person I want to do nasty things with.”
Your tone is seductive now, and he grins. He can feel that his cheeks are turning a little red, but he doesn’t care. He loves it. He loves you… so much…
“Really?” he asks, his voice huskier.
You nod.
“And who might that be?” he asks, voice low, deep, and his hand on your thigh slips dangerously higher along your limb…
“Well… he’s my boyfriend. And he’s very handsome, so… tough competition for Robert Pattinson.”
Ben chuckles, his hand moving to your hip instead of your leg, pulling you closer, if it’s even possible. He tilts his head to drop kisses on your neck, and you can’t help the way your eyes close as soon as you feel his warm breath across your skin.
“Good to know,” he answers, and there’s something a little cocky in his voice.
He rubs his beard against your neck intentionally a few times, just because he knows it drives you crazy, and it works. You run a hand through his hair in response, tugging a little on the soft strands, making him chuckle.
But you don’t let him win. You won’t let him win that easily, at least. So, you pull away, kissing his lips passionately one last time, before settling next to him again, picking up your food.
“You’re so damn cruel,” Ben complains, but you merely laugh at his answer. “Such a tease…”
“It’s movie night! I want to watch a movie!”
“Alright, alright…”
The film finally starts, and you eat your pizza together. After your meal, you’re back in Ben’s embrace in a matter of minutes, the empty plates abandoned on the coffee table along with your empty glasses, and none of you care about the mess you’ve made. You’ll clean it up later, before going to bed. For now, the movie is good, night has drawn its shadows upon the busy city and lights are glowing orange and white to fight them. You haven’t turned on any light in your home, enjoying the darkness. It feels a little like being in a cinema. Only, you’re in your pyjamas, in your home, on your sofa, in Ben’s arms, and it’s a lot better than the real thing, you reckon…
He's focused, he’s quiet. He has you in his arms, lying partly on top of him, his hand under your shirt to feel the warmth of your skin against his palm and draw soothing patterns on the skin of your back. And he loves it. The peaceful, domestic feel of these evenings spent with you. Just the two of you. Doing nothing interesting, nothing special just… some pizza and a good movie, and your body relaxed against his. He loves it, every second of it. He’s home…
From time to time, the two of you comment the scenes, ask questions. You’re caught up in the action though, but you’re also mischievous, and you’re not done teasing your boyfriend this evening…
When Robert Pattinson appears with a particularly intense fight scene, and you see he’s clenching his jaw next, a little bloody… you can’t help but let out a sigh.
“That was hot,” you blurt out.
Ben chuckles.
“That’s quite true,” he admits.
“There’s something about… violent scenes and very intense staring that’s… hot…”
Ben seems to think for a moment.
“So… does that mean that you find it sexy when the Darkling cuts people in half?”
You laugh, and he soon joins you.
“I mean… it’s terrifying. But yeah, that whole scene was hot.”
You can feel his smirk against your hair. Perfect time for teasing…
“I do believe that this was hotter though.”
He gasps, outraged.
“How dare you?” he protests. “I channelled all my sexiness in that scene!”
You laugh.
“Well… sorry to disappoint but… I think my old crush on Robert Pattinson is coming back strong!”
He rolls his eyes. But he doesn’t fight back, and you wonder if his annoyance is, for a part, quite genuine this time.
“You’re not jealous, are you?” you ask, sitting up a little to stare at him.
“Absolutely not!” he defends himself, but he doesn’t sound very convincing.
You laugh at him.
“Come on you have advantages he doesn’t!”
“Really?”
You know he’s fishing for compliments a little, even though he’s being playful again. You won’t give it to him so easily though.
“Dark hair. Tall.”
“We have established the pattern already, darling,” he rolls his eyes.
“You’re British! Sexy accent.”
“Isn’t Robert Pattinson British too?” Ben frowns.
“He is.”
“Hey!”
You laugh, while he shakes his head.
“Hmm… you’re handsome.”
“Well, thank you,” he smiles. “But he is too…”
“You… are an actor…”
“How is that an advantage? And you’re just listing things we have in common!” Ben laughs.
He rolls his eyes at you as you chuckle.
“I can’t believe it.”
“Are you really jealous?”
“No.”
“Really?”
“No.”
“Really?”
“… a little bit.”
You chuckle, shaking your head at him.
“Well, Robert Pattinson doesn’t have your sweet voice,” you reply, and you feel him relax as you run your hand through his hair. “He doesn’t have your beautiful eyes either. And he’s not as handsome as you.”
“Really?” he asks, grinning again as you gently pull him down to you, a hand holding the collar of his shirt.
“Really. Besides… you’re sexier in fight scenes.”
“Am I now?”
“Billy Russo was very hot…”
He explodes with laughter, your faces so close again.
“I didn’t know you had a thing for villains…”
“I don’t. I’m just saying that… it’s rather sexy.”
“Maybe I should play with knives more often then…”
“If you cook more often, then sure, do!”
You both laugh, and Ben playfully pushes you away.
“I can’t believe it!”
“I’m joking, honey! I’m joking!”
You grab him by the collar to pull him closer again, until you’re kissing, and kissing, and kissing… the movie forgotten, and Robert Pattinson with it.
You let out a soft gasp as Ben pushes you down to lie down fully on the couch.
His lips have left yours to settle on your neck again, open-mouthed kisses sending delightful shivers all over your body, and you throw your head back to give him better access to your skin. He groans when you pull his hair a little.
When he pulls away, propping himself up to look down at you, his body hovering above yours, just out of reach, he has a cocky smirk on his lips again and his eyes glimmer with mischief and something a little dangerous that you adore. His features are bathed by no other light than the changing ones of the TV, it’s almost ethereal.
“I reckon I don’t need to be bloody and fighting bad guys for you to find me sexy though, do I?” he asks, voice low and husky, and you hate the way you tremble a little at the sound, but you can’t help it. Your breathing is a mess by now, and your heart stumbles under your ribcage.
When you smile up at him, it’s more tender than he expected the gesture to be, and he offers you a matching grin.
“No, you don’t. You’re very sexy. Very handsome. Very kind too. I think that’s what I love the most about you. Really… Robert Pattinson doesn’t stand a chance.”
Ben grins, and it’s not that flirtatious anymore. It’s more loving, the gesture soft and soothing, reassuring.
“Good. Cause I don’t like having competition. Not when it comes to you. I love you too much for that.”
It’s your time to grin, and you let Ben settle down again, lying on top of you so he can rest his head on your chest. You play with his hair as you start focusing on the movie again, his arms around you once more.
“Anyway… he wasn’t my biggest crush by then…” you add after a couple of minutes.
“Really? Who else do I have to compete with?”
You chuckle, looking down at Ben to catch his reaction.
“There was this other British actor too… I saw him in a movie and… wow. Just… wow!”
“Oh no… who was it?”
“Don’t remember his name now but… he played that character… Prince Caspian?”
You both explode with laughter, and it takes a while for you to grow quiet again.
You don’t remember how the film ends. You don’t really care. Because Ben is back at kissing you after that last remark, and he doesn’t stop this time…
After all, you’d choose him over Robert Pattinson a thousand times over.

Ben and you have been working on a movie together for the past 6 months. It wasn't something you ever thought would happen to you, he was a well-known actor after all, meanwhile you only started building your career a couple of years ago. When the agency called you back and offered you the part only hours after your audition, you thought that was the best day of your life. But that was until they called you in for a chemistry read and you found yourself face to face with Ben Barnes.
The identity of your co-star was fairly hidden from the public, not wanting to reveal much about the production until the studio deemed it necessary. Which meant you hadn't had any idea about who you were supposed to be meeting. When your eyes met, you froze in your spot, not being able to form a coherent sentence. But he was just as sweet as you imagined him to be and instead of laughing at you or growing frustrated with you, he offered you a heart-warming smile and reached out to shake your hand.
"I'm Ben, nice to finally meet you," he spoke up first with a reassuring smile, a playful twinkle in his dark irises. Though it was difficult to even move as he closed the proximity, you finally gathered your courage and shook his hand, his warm touch sending shivers through your body. You tried to ignore the feeling, knowing it was only the fangirl side of you that possibly got a tad more excited than appropriate.
But it wasn't.
After six months, you found yourself falling for the man. He was always sweet to you, helping you when you didn't understand something, comforting you when the day seemed to bring you down. He had your back when the director grew frustrated with you and offered you some sort of safety net. Meanwhile you wanted to believe there could be more, you knew it was only a foolish thought. He was only kind to you because he thought of you as a dear mentee.
When you realised the slightly erotic scene you were supposed to be shooting with him, your blood froze, your mind went blank, as though all your senses gave up on you. Realisation hit you hard as you tried to organise your breathing and dangerously beating heart that seemed to resemble the heavy thunder outside. It was already hard to hide your feelings with him being beside you for the best part of a whole day but having him close to you in intimate positions had your heart racing further, your mind occupied by the thought of his body pressed against yours.
Shaking your head, you tried to clear your mind as you stood on set, covered by a slightly see-through, silky bathrobe. You tried to act brave and pretend it didn't affect you, but you couldn't hide the way your body was shaking in fear. You were scared to be exposed and even though you accepted the part and thoroughly thought it through, as you stood there waiting for your turn, you couldn't shake the fear of curious eyes watching every single movement of yours.
"Are you alright?" Ben asked from behind you as he placed his hand on your back, drawing soothing circles on your covered skin. To others his touch might have been inappropriate, but throughout the past six months he learned it eased your worries and he was more than happy to help you whenever he saw you being troubled by something.
"Yeah," you breathed weakly as you looked up over your shoulder, meeting his concerned gaze. "I'm just nervous," you added, knowing he wouldn't ever make fun of you.
"So was I, the first time I had to shoot a scene like this. But I had an amazing partner who helped me through it and I'm planning to help you just as much," a soft smile spread across his face as he continued drawing random patterns on your back, each circle he completed easing a part of your anxiousness. "I'm not going to tell you to relax, because that never helps. But if you just follow my directions and you can put your trust in me, I'm certain we can do well," he added with a playful wink, earning a light giggle from you. "So, can you trust me?" He asked with a curious gaze.
Although you were still anxious about being so exposed, the fact that you had Ben beside you made you feel slightly better. You knew he would make sure you were as comfortable as you could be in such a situation, but at the same time, exactly because Ben was your partner you felt even more self-conscious. A heavy sigh left your lungs as you made up your mind and looked up at your co-star with a determined expression.
"Yes, I can," you nodded as a wide smile spread across his face.
As the director instructed you to move to the scene, Ben slid his hand into yours and interlocked your fingers, squeezing them gently. You lifted your head to look up at him, his eyes offering you a certain comfort as he led you to the set.
The little, cramped room was designed as a bedroom with a silky bedding set, a king-sized bed, and a wardrobe right beside the fake windows. Only a handful of people stood inside the room, less than you initially expected. "For the comfort of the actors they usually make sure to have less staff around. It can be quite scary to act out an intimate scene and so there's always only those around whose presence is necessary," Ben explained from beside you as he squeezed your hand once again.
"That makes sense," you nodded and let go of Ben's hand as you sat down on the bed. You crossed a leg over the other and folded your arms in front of your chest, ready to begin the scene. Ben walked out of the camera's sight and waited for the director's approval to start.
"Are we ready?" The older man asked as he looked around, earning a nod from each member of the staff. "Good, let's begin," he stated firmly. You took a deep breath and closed your eyes, and you took on your character's personality, lifting your head, wearing a sceptical look.
"That useless man is surely out drinking again," you shot up from the bed, walking up and down the room, trying to act out a frustrated woman. "Leaves early, gets home late and on top of that drunk out of his mind. Maybe I should do the same. Get drunk and show him how irritating he is," you spat in anger, trying to follow the script. You walked up to the nightstand and started emptying the content of the wine bottle which was filled with raspberry juice. You almost laughed out as the sweet liquid hit your tongue, but instead you forced yourself to stay in character.
The door to the bedroom opened and Ben stepped inside with a curious gaze, acting as though your lover was stunned by your drunken state. You swayed around as if the alcohol had already done its part and walked up to Ben, poking his chest with your index finger. "You useless man," you groaned as you stumbled back, but his arm caught you as it sneaked around your waist. "You think you can just go around getting drunk every night? Well, guess what," you tried to make your words more slurred. "Tonight, it's my turn," you scoffed as a wide grin appeared across Ben's face.
"So, what are you planning to do? Get drunk and pass out? What a punishment," he chuckled with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes as he pulled you flush against his chest. For a moment the air stuck in your lungs as your brain realised the proximity between you and Ben, but you quickly composed yourself.
"I'm going to show you how frustrating it is when you're drunk," you huffed.
"I wish you could, but I don't feel frustrated. If anything, you are quite adorable, dear," he chuckled in a low, sexy tone, sending electricity through your body, making you wonder if he had ever used that voice in real life. But you knew it wasn't the right time to think about that, so you fell back in character.
"Excuse me? I'm not adorable. I'm angry. I'm upset. Every day you leave early, then come home late in a drunken state after you had fun with your friends. I'm tired of acting like your mother, looking after you when you don't even have the time to pay attention to me," you pouted as you gently hit his chest, trying to get out of his hold.
"Oh, so that's the problem. If you wanted to spend time with me, you could have just said so. I love it when you're needy," he breathed against your lips.
"I'm not needy," you replied weakly, his gaze holding you in a trance. Though it was part of the script, without realising you fell for his charm.
"Of course, you're not," he chuckled playfully and cupped the back of your neck with his other hand and pulled you so close to him, you could feel his lips moving against yours as he spoke up again. "But now I am and it's all your fault," he smirked before he pressed his lips against yours, devouring your mouth. You tried to stay in character, but Ben was kissing you as though he meant the words he had learned from the script, and you could barely contain your excitement. Before you could have lost your mind completely and forgot about your surroundings, Ben pulled away from the kiss with a hazy gaze as though he was affected by it as much as you were. His lips curved into a playful smirk as he delivered his next line. "I'm going to ruin that pretty makeup of yours," he let out a throaty chuckle at the sight of your dazed state and kissed you once again, gently nudging you towards the bed, lowering you on the mattress.
You thought the kisses were supposed to be a little more fake, but the way Ben's lips travelled down your neck whilst gently removing the thin, silky bathrobe from your shoulder, you found yourself burning up under his heated attention. "Oh, look at that! I may or may not have left some... marks on that pretty body of yours. At least now everyone knows you belong to me," he smirked up at you as he went back to your skin, focusing his complete attention on your body. He didn't physically kiss your skin, he simply brushed his soft lips against your body, keeping himself in character, but your self-control had become non-existent. Though the script you so thoroughly revised said nothing about letting out a moan, you couldn't control the way your body reacted to Ben. As the moan escaped your lips, Ben lifted his head from the crook of your neck, eyes growing slightly wider. You wanted to dig your own grave, knowing how embarrassing the situation had become, but Ben had enough self-control to improvise. "What is that I hear, my dear. I thought you said you weren't needy, but those voices tell a different story," he chuckled in a dark tone. "I always thought your laugh was the prettiest sound in the world. But I must admit I was wrong, it's your moans that I could die for," he said as he pushed himself up and pressed his lips against yours once again, this time in a more controlled manner, as though he was afraid of breaking you.
"Cut!" The director's voice made you jump in Ben's arms, and you quickly separated, ready to be scolded. "That was brilliant," he chuckled with a delightful expression. "I don't know where that came from, but it certainly stays," he walked up to Ben and patted his shoulder proudly. "Let's take five and we will continue after the break," he said as he left the room, followed by the rest of the staff members. You leaned forward, hunching your back as you hid your face in your palm, feeling the need to disappear from this planet.
"I'm so sorry," you apologised, your voice weak and shaky.
"If anyone has to apologise, it would be me," he said and your head whipped towards him, eyes wide in surprise as he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck, brows furrowed as though he was in physical pain. A heavy groan left his lungs as he tried to collect his thoughts, his eyes fixed on the ground, not even gazing up at you.
"What for?" You asked with a deep frown.
"Well, I got carried away," he cleared his throat, a heavy blush spreading across his cheeks. "I should have been more careful."
"Wait, were the kisses meant to be fake?" You asked and he shook his head.
"They were supposed to be a mix of fake and real, but—," he was struggling with his words. "I was supposed to be gentler," he massaged the bridge of his nose to distract himself.
"You were gentle," you tried to reassure him, but he just shook his head.
"Erm— that's not—," he scoffed awkwardly, making you even more confused. "I meant that it wasn't supposed to be that— that real," he finally said, earning an 'oh' sound from you. He bit into his bottom lip and closed his eyes as a heavy sigh left his lungs. "I am really sorry," he breathed, hiding his face behind his palms. For a second you weren't sure how to react. If it was anyone else you might have been mad, but as Ben sat beside you, feeling guilt for something that although caught you off-guard, you secretly enjoyed, you couldn't be mad at him. He didn't take advantage of you after all, his kisses on your skin were barely a brush of his lips, but you couldn't stop from reacting when the man you had grown to care for so deeply finally touched you, even if it was only scripted. Placing a hand on his shoulder, you squeezed it reassuringly. He lifted his head, looking at you with a questioning gaze, ready to be the subject of your rage, but instead you wore a gentle smile.
"Didn't I tell you already? I trust you," you said as his eyes grew wider. "Besides—" before you could have continued, you cut yourself off. You weren't sure what came over you, but you almost confessed to him how often you found yourself wondering about the feeling of his lips studying every sensitive inch of your body. You almost told him about your growing feelings for him, for god's sake.
"Besides what?" He asked with a deep frown.
"It's nothing. Really, it's nothing," you shook your head, slightly panicking as you tried to save the situation. "Just forget it, please," you pleaded with him and quickly left the room to grab a glass of water and prepare for your next take. Ben didn't follow you, nor did he badger you about what you wanted to say, but he didn't even have the chance to. You finished with the scene and dressed up as quickly as you could, not even leaving a moment for Ben to catch up to you. Within minutes you hurried out of the studio and towards the car park. It was late already, almost midnight, which made it even harder to find your car in the parking lot.
"Why are you running away?" You heard Ben's voice. "I know what happened was wrong, but I'd rather have you screaming and shouting at me, than to have you ignoring me," his voice was filled with guilt, and you felt bad about the misunderstanding. As you went back to shoot the scene again, he barely touched you, and even got scolded by the director for not making it believable enough. You wanted to reassure him that it was not him per se that you had a problem with but your own feelings. However, the words didn't come. "Look, I really am sorry. I didn't mean it to happen, and I promise to keep a distance between us, just please don't avoid me," he pleaded with you and that's where you lost it. As if on cue, you lost your self-control and let the words flow through you.
"I'm not angry at you Ben. I'm angry at myself," you raised your voice in frustration, earning a confused reaction from Ben. "I'm supposed to stay professional, but why do you think I reacted the way I did? Because I enjoyed it. I couldn't stay professional because I let myself indulge in the moment. I shouldn't have done it and in other circumstances I wouldn't have, but I couldn't do anything about it because my feelings for you are stronger than to be able to act as though I didn't feel anything," your words were rushed and panicked. A part of you felt terrible about dumping such a thorough confession on Ben, but another part of you felt the heavy weight of secrecy being lifted from your chest.
"Your— your feelings for me?" He asked as he took a step closer. "You have feelings for me?" He furrowed as he continued closing the gap between you. At last, he stopped in front of you, but you didn't say anything, instead dropped your gaze to the ground. You weren't sure what to say. He heard you, why must he ask you to repeat yourself?! A heavy sigh left your lungs, the previous weight settling back on your chest. You shouldn't have said it. You knew it could have ruined your relationship forever and even if he was never going to return your feelings, you wanted to keep him close, learn more from him, stay beside him as a friend. But you messed it all up.
"Yeah," you breathed with uncertainty, waiting for all the excuses why you two couldn't be together. And the worst of it all, you knew he'd be incredibly sweet and gentle about it not to hurt your feelings. Which is of course a good thing, it shows how kind someone is, but you knew the kinder he was, the harder it was to get over him. You lifted your gaze as you exhaled, ready to face him, but instead of a pitiful expression, he wore a playful smirk. Tilting your head, you furrowed at the man's unexpected reaction. The dim lights of the streetlamps enhanced the mischievous look in his eyes. "Why are you grinning at me?" You finally asked, frowning as you studied his excited face.
"Because I'm happy," he replied with a silent chuckle.
"You— you're happy?!" You planned to ask, but it turned out to be more of a statement.
"Very much so," he grinned at you and lifted his hand, placing his palm on your cheek, his touch tender against your skin. "I'm happy because I like you too," he said with utmost excitement.
"What?" You asked, baffled by his confession.
"I do like you," he laughed at your stunned expression. "I thought I made it obvious. I was lurking around you like a schoolboy trying to get his crush's attention, but I didn't dare to voice it, nor did I dare to ask you out until the shooting finished. I was afraid of jeopardising what we worked so hard for. But since it's out there, I can't pretend not to be happy about it," his grin grew wider as the words left his lips and without realising you mirrored the content smile he wore.
"You like me!" You stated, though you meant it as a question, but somewhere along the line your brain didn't get the memo.
"I do, indeed," he laughed as he tilted his head forward and pressed his forehead against yours. He locked his eyes with yours, his gaze holding an unknown look, as though there was something he wanted to do, but he didn't dare to ask. The smile he previously wore slowly disappeared and you found his gaze falling to your lips repeatedly as he fought to keep eye contact with you.
"You know—," you started, trying to gather the courage to say what you wanted, "if you want— you can kiss me," though the last of your words were barely audible, he heard them just fine. His eyes widened as his gaze fell to your lips, but he didn't move.
"I want to," he whispered, but once again he didn't move. You could feel his breath on your lips mixing with your own, the gentle air slightly tickling your skin as he caressed your cheek with his thumb. "I really want to," he breathed as though he was fighting with himself. You weren't sure why he was holding back, but you knew if he wasn't going to take the first step soon then you would. And so, when Ben didn't move, you rose on your tiptoes and pressed your lips against his, feeling your heart pumping blood in your ears, your tummy flipping happily, awakening a handful of butterflies in the pit of your stomach.
As though that was the last straw for Ben, his arms wrapped tightly around your waist, pulling you closer. You steadied yourself with your palms resting on his chest, his lips brushing against yours smoothly. You felt the growing need for oxygen, your lungs fighting against you, but your need for Ben's lips overpowered your need to breath. Grabbing his jacket, you pulled him closer, though it didn't seem possible and deepened the kiss, wanting to feel more of him. You thought the way he kissed you when you were acting felt like a storm that could easily sweep you away, but that was before you tasted the way he kissed you filled with all the feelings he had been harbouring for you. Your mind had gone blank, the only thing you could concentrate on was the feel of Ben's mouth on yours, his expert movements against your own lips.
However, soon the lack of air became unbearable, and you pulled away from Ben, though he didn't let go of your body, he kept you pressed up against him, both of you heavily panting as your gaze connected again. Ben's lips curved into a content smile and soon you couldn't stop yourself from mirroring his expression.
"What now?" You asked at last, knowing it wouldn't be that easy to have a relationship when you were working together, although you weren't sure if he wanted one anyway.
"Well," he let out an awkward chuckle. "We have to keep this a secret until we finish the shooting," he said, and you nodded in agreement. "But there are a couple of hidden places we can sneak off to throughout the day," he raised a questioning brow as if he was waiting for a reply.
"I like the way you are thinking, Mr. Barnes," you giggled in a childlike manner and wrapped your arms around his neck.
"What do you think about having dinner at mine tonight?" He asked with a hopeful glint in his eyes.
"I'll have to check my schedule," you replied playfully, his smile growing wider at your banter.
"I think I know a way to convince you," he wiggled his brows, earning a loud laugh from you.
"Oh, do you now?" You arched a brow. "And what would that be?" Without a reply Ben leaned down to you and pressed his lips against yours. His attempt to convince you seemed successful, by midnight you found yourself in his house, watching with an adoring smile as he cooked you a very late dinner.

Ben is always busy with his works ‘cause he’s the CEO of his finance company. He had tried so hard to get here, all the time he spent to get the company developed, has a stable position like today, all of his struggles, his pain, his tears. You knew all of that, ‘cause you always been by his side from the day the company was founded.
So you understood why he made such an effort to it, but now, you felt abandoned. It’s not you , Ben and the life you have spent together. Now, it’s just Ben and all his works, his own life, the life without you.
He’s always come home late, not sharing his struggles, his personal feeling, his sadness with you like before. He kept everything from u, let you out of his life, ‘cause living together, but don’t know what the other feel or think is like he pushes you away.
Today was as so many days, Ben came home late. You made for him his favorite dishes - the food always makes him smile and happy as soon as possible when he eats.
When he came home, realize that you had waited for him to coming home, eating what you had cooked. He sighed and said, “Sorry, honey, I’d got something to deal with today, the important thing. Sorry for not calling you that I will be late for dinner,…and sorry for being so busy”. He kissed you on your cheek and quickly went to your room.
That’s the only thing he could do to you right now, nothing but a “sorry”. The damn sorry - which you've heard so many times that you know for sure this is what he'll say when he's late. You cried but tried to keep yourself as quiet as you ran into the guest’s room, not let Ben hear it. You just wanted to be alone…
Sadness covered you, you couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think anything.
You could only think over and over about the times he came home late, nothing but an apology, and walked straight into his room, all the times he didn't ask "how was your day ?” or the simple thing he used to say "I love you”. You felt lonely in your own house, in your relationship. Maybe it’s the end of your relationship with Ben, it’s time to stop before he could able to hurt you again - which he has never done before.
You just sat there, in the guest’s room, cried, and cried for hours. You didn’t notice how long have you sat there.
Suddenly, you heard the door knock. “Y/n, are you there ?” Ben asked.
“Yes, I am. Only now did you realize that I wasn't in the room ?” You barked
“I’m sorry, y/n”
“That’s all you can say? I have been heard your apology a million times, a million times.” You repeated and inhaled a long, deep breath.
He couldn’t say anything else right now. Then, he heard you crying, so hard. It tore him apart.
“Let me in, please.” he begged you. You didn’t say anything, just came straight to the door to lock it. He didn’t know the door had been unlocked the whole time.
As soon as he heard the door lock, he shouted. “Open this fucking door, y/n.” This man’s running out of patience right now.
“Go away, Ben.”
Ben slammed the door with all of his strength, pushed hard until it’s open.
When he saw your face, your tears, his madness probably has gone. The only thing he wanted to do was hugged you in his arms, let his arm be a place you felt safe in. But you pushed him right after he touched you.
“Don’t you dare come near me”. You stepped back.
“Please, don’t do this y/n.I know I’m too focused on work, I haven’t cared about you as much as always did…” He muttered
You screamed “You haven’t talked to me for a long time, the real talk, not the stupid thing you said “Hi”, “I’ll be late”, “ I’m sorry”, you are barely sharing anything with me lately, about your life, your work or your concern. You let me out of your life. And I can’t stay in this house anymore. And for sure not in this relationship. You left me, Ben. You make me feel alone in where I am always happy to come back after my long shift.”
“Now go out of my room.” You pointed to the door, and climbed to bed, wrapped yourself in a blanket and faced the wall - ‘cause you didn’t want to see his face, didn’t want to see your Ben - your love. He broke your heart.
He stood there without saying anything or simply made a sound. You thought he has already gone to his room. But Ben joined you in bed, even though how hard you tried to push him.
After a while, you didn’t resist anymore. You gave up. You took a deep breath and looked deeply into his eyed “Where have you been? How can you treat me like this? Why you haven’t said anything about your work? We usually said that we could share everything, Ben,” You asked him a bunch of questions without a pause
“I’m too tired of my work. I didn’t say anything to you not because I want to let you out of my life nor did want to push you away… Just when I got home from work, I wanted to left all behind, I wanted only to bring happiness to you. I didn’t want to bring the shit from work to home. I…I”. He said that and slightly lifted your head, let it laid in his firm chest. He continued “You don’t have to say anything. Just lay here, in my arm, that’s all I need,”
You kept crying, you didn’t even know why you cried. Maybe you just heard Ben’s explanation - which you need to hear or just be here, in your love’s arm - the simple thing you always love.
“You can talk to me about all your shit, all your stupid things you know?” You said Ben laughed immediately “I know, but I don’t want to bother you with this crap.” “Nothing belong to you is crap, Ben. I care about you and also all your concerns.”
Ben sighed in relief “I’m so lucky to have you. And once again, I’m sorry.”
“You better to make it right, try your best not to say an apology to me, ‘cause I won’t accept you keep anything from me, not anymore.”
He kissed in your head “I promise… And I love you, y/n” “I love you too.” You hugged him tighter “You have to remember that, and I am always by your side.”
You chuckled “I’m not lettin’ you go, Ben. Let’s stay here. Don’t go to our room. I want to lay here as long as we can.”
So you both lay in that small bed all night, hugged each other as tight as you can, love each other as much as you have. You could hear Ben’s heartbeat when you’re in his arms, the heart beats for you. You’re meant to be together.

Oh we're ruined!
Ben Barnes x reader part 3
| Masterlist
--------->
A few hours passed by and you finally got to memorize your script.
"Y/n" amita called you while holding a pack of chips.
"Do ya' want some? " you shook your head.
"No thanks, I hate spicy food" amita nodded in agreement.
~~
The next day. You got ready for your shooting, they dressed you up, applied some makeup to your face and a bit of details.
You spotted Ben in the other van, he was dressed in a black kefta, they also styled his hair.
And then there's Archie, they made him wear a clean with shirt, but they dirtied it up.
"Okay positions! " the director commanded, as everyone obeyed.
~~
After a few hours of filming, it's now the time that you face Ben, of course.
"Bring her closer" Ben demanded or should I say general kirigan.
The guards pulled you closer before letting go of your arms.
The general slowly turned around. "Closer" you took an awkward step.
"Well?" You looked at him like he was crazy.
"Well what?, sir" you added trying not to be rude.
"What are you? ", " Alina Starkov, assistant cartographer, Royal corps of surveyors, they're all gone, that's why I am here isn't it? "
"Just answer the question, what. Are. You? ", " a map maker sir" the grisha around you chuckled.
"Quiet" the chuckling grishas fell silent.
"So, who actually saw what happened?, zoya? You manned the main sails"
The squaller in blue took a step forward. "We were attacked, barely to markers in... Someone lit a lantern" she looked annoyed.
"And? " kirigan demanded looking back at you.
"The volcra went after our rifle man and inferni first, and there was a searing light"
"Our map maker, is this true? Can you summon light? " you shook your head, looking confused.
"Hm.. Where did you grow up? " "keramzin" you responded blankly.
"And when were you tested? " you didn't know what to say this time.
"Hmm.. You don't remember? " he asked almost like teasing you.
"Well let's just, make this certain" he walked closer to you.
"Lift up your sleeve" he demanded you. "Why? What's happening? ".
"Your sleeve please" he grabbed your wrist pulling you closer as he lifted your sleeve up.
Then he pressed his cold claw ring to your arm.
"Anddddddd cut! " the director clapped his hands. "Bravo! Bravo! "
On the other side of the studio stood amita, Freddy and kit, the crows.
You were about to head back to your van to get some cold drink, when Ben pulled your wrist.
"Hi" he said breathlessly, "hi" you responded back.
"Are you okay? " he nodded, "yes, um I just wanna say that you did great out there" you nodded trying not to blush.
"T-thanks" he pulled our something from his back and handed you a cold energy drink.
Now that's the reason why your heart still belongs to him...

“do you like it?” y/n smiled softly as she let bev take the embroidered bracelet from her hand and watched as the redhead took a closer look at the red and green floss. she often spent quite a lot of her time making little trinkets for her friends. so far, she had made bev a collection of anklets and bracelets, knitted a scarf for stanley and a matching hat for bill, made stickers for ben, knitted a jumper for mike, made eddie tons of keychains, and thousands of bracelets and keychains for richie. his favourite one she had given him was actually an idea of bev’s; one night when the girls were having a sleepover, bev had taught y/n how to make a bracelet out of an old bra strap, and had given it to richie the day after. she hadn’t seen his wrist without it since.
“yeah!” bev smiled as she put it around her wrist, sitting with two others which were black. “it kinda matches the one on my ankle.” she pointed to her leg, where a red anklet was around her left ankle, and y/n smiled.
“i made one for richie too, it’s purple.” she explained and bev grinned.
“i doubt he has room for any more.”
“he’ll make room, don’t worry.” she giggled quietly, though looked up when the classroom door opened and watched as somebody walked inside.
there was a student transferring to their history class, which they had swapped in for geography, and she had been interested to see who it was all morning. y/n recognised the girl, though she had never spoken to her - she was a cheerleader, and y/n was a loser. the girl walked into the classroom and over to the teacher’s desk, and when beverly looked up she scoffed.
“for fuck sake.” she mumbled, rolling her eyes.
“what?” y/n frowned, looking at the girl again before back at bev. “do you not like her?”
bev blinked at y/n, furrowing her eyebrows a little. “do you not know who that is?” she asked, and y/n paused. was she supposed to?
“uhm, no. who is she?” y/n saw the look of disgust on bev’s face and wondered for a moment if she was one of the girl’s who used to bully her alongside greta keene.
“it’s ashley. ashley brooke?” bev asked, tilting her head, though the name still rang no bells and y/n just blinked in confusion. “she’s richie’s ex.”
“...oh.”
she was richie’s ex? y/n looked back over at ashley as she took a seat across the classroom and frowned. she was… beautiful. she was tall and skinny and had beautiful long hair, and thinking about it she wasn’t at all surprised richie used to like her. when they had started dating, richie had told her that he had an ex from before y/n had moved to their school, though she hadn’t minded at the time. if she knew that richie had downgraded with her then maybe she’d mind a little more. ashley was a cheerleader; she had good grades, everybody liked her, and she was so pretty. y/n was average in all of her classes, barely knew anybody other than the losers, and she was most definitely not nearly as pretty as ashley. if richie could date someone like ashley, why was he settling with her?
“y/n?” bev gently nudged her arm, and after looking away from ashley she could see that bev looked concerned. “she was a bitch, alright? they didn’t even date for three months. she just got with him because he suddenly got hot one summer.” bev scoffed, and y/n nodded, though she let her eyes drift back towards ashley and sighed. she wasn’t so sure.
-
after she had seen ashley that morning, it was hard to not miss her everywhere else she went. y/n realised that her locker was close to ashley’s, that they shared a free period, they even shared their math class together. by the time lunch rolled around she was almost miserable. her brain had been running non stop all day about it. about how richie could do so much better than her if he wanted to. she wasn’t cruel, she knew that richie wouldn’t break up with her, because he was kind. but was he miserable with her? did he want to be with someone else?
she had been so lost in thought as she walked outside towards the losers’ lunch table that she hadn’t seen the person in front of her and walked right into them. she felt nauseous when they turned around and was face to face with ashley.
y/n’s eyes widened, freezing up for a solid few seconds. “oh uh- i’m sorry i didn’t- i didn’t see-” she started stammering, though ashley just gave her a once-over before she walked away with a huff.
y/n watched her walk away for a moment, her heart thumping heavier than normal. did ashley know who she was? did she not like her because she was dating richie now instead of her? she swallowed harshly as she continued walking, feeling a little relieved when she saw the losers all sat outside. she’d feel better when she was sat with them, she always did. one time she was ill and when she met the losers at bill’s house for their weekly movie, they had all gotten together to make her some soup and she had almost cried from gratitude.
since they all couldn’t fit on one table together, they had pushed two wooden tables together to sit together at the start of the year and nobody had moved them since. as she walked over she could hear richie and eddie yelling at each other before they even saw her and had to smile. everything was normal, so she should, in theory, feel fine.
“will you stop saying that-”
“but she did! your mom asked me to-”
“eww stop! fuckin’ stop!”
richie had his head tipped back with laughter as she actually reached the table, and upon seeing the horrified expression on eddie’s face she had to giggle.
“leave him alone, rich, you’re traumatising him.”
eddie mumbled a “thank you y/n” as she sat down on richie’s other side, opposite bev, and gave the girl a light smile as she felt an arm tuck around her waist.
“anything for you, my love,” richie sighed dramatically as he pulled her closer to himself, and she heard eddie gag on his other side when a kiss was pressed to her cheek. “was your morning okay?”
y/n nodded and smiled as she gently took his hand underneath the table. “yeah, it was fine.” it wasn’t, but richie didn’t need to know that. ashley was probably never insecure like she was being.
she felt something hit her arm and looked up to see that bev had thrown a note at her, and upon opening it she frowned.
“i saw you walk into ashley. everything okay?”
y/n appreciated how intuitive bev was. she was her best friend, and she had been there for her since her first day in derry - which was longer than she had been friends with any of the other losers, including richie. she appreciated that bev could tell when something was wrong, but she just didn’t want to talk about anything to do with ashley or her insecurities, so she just nodded and scrunched the note up before letting it drop to the floor.
“hey, rich?” she watched as richie looked up and smiled softly when she met his eyes. “i have something for you,” as she spoke y/n dug around in the front pocket of her bag, before her fingers enclosed around what she wanted and she pulled out the purple bracelet that she had made for him the night before. “here.” she placed the gift into his open palm, and watched as his face lit up.
“i don’t have a purple one yet, thanks!” he grinned and immediately put it on his left wrist (there was only four on that one, whereas he had six on his right one, including the bra strap bracelet) before he moved both arms around her as he pressed a good few kisses to her head.
y/n smiled as she leaned into his side, though she spotted ashley sat with her own friends a few tables away and frowned as a sour feeling pooled in her belly. ashley probably didn’t make him friendship bracelets, she wasn’t childish. she probably bought him more meaningful things that he would get more entertainment and use out of. she probably was a better girlfriend overall, to be honest. why was richie settling with someone who could do so little for him?
-
“hey, are you okay?” y/n looked up at richie as he squeezed her hand and tilted her head slightly. every day after school he walked her back to her house, and aside from any free periods they spent together, it was one of the only times they got alone during the week. usually it was the best part of her day, but she had been dreading the walk home all afternoon. her thoughts on everything had gotten so much worse after lunch, and being around richie - as much as she loved his company - made it worse. because with her hand in his, as her arm brushed against his every time richie moved closer to her side of the pavement (because god knows richie couldn’t walk in a straight line to save his life), all she could be reminded of was how bad of a girlfriend she was in comparison to what he had in the past and what he could have if he wanted it.
“hmm?” she tilted her head and put on a smile. “yeah, i’m okay.” realistically, she should have spoken to richie about how she was feeling, but she felt like that would just be selfish. she didn’t want him to have to pity her because she had come to the realisation that she just wasn’t good enough. she just wanted it all to get better. y/n wished bev had never told her who ashley was so she could keep thinking that she was a good girlfriend, and maybe if she carried on thinking it was fine she would have no problems. but since she knew how not fine it was, it hurt. walking home with her then, as his thumb dragged across her knuckles so often when he didn’t have his head tipped back in laughter over a dumb joke he made, did he regret asking her out? in that moment did he know how much better he could have? did he want better?
she squeezed his hand back gently and tried to be reassuring, but her hand suddenly felt cold in his as nausea swirled around her stomach. y/n took a brief look down at herself, seeing hand-me-down clothes and a figure she wasn’t happy with and thought of ashley, who was always best dressed and looked like she should do modeling. if he hadn’t realised it yet, how much better he could do, then he would eventually. and then she’d lose him.
-
she didn’t turn up for lunch on tuesday. richie had pouted the whole time, ignoring stan’s suggestions that she was late or had something else to do. he knew she was in school - bev had seen her in their english class, and the redhead had said she was quiet, sure, but y/n was always quiet! it took her days after they had first met to get her to talk to him, and still sometimes she crawled back into her shell when she was feeling particularly shy or unwell. richie always found it adorable, of course, so nothing could be actually wrong with her, right? so why hadn’t she sat with them?
it couldn’t have been something he did. at lunch on monday they sat together just fine; she had given him another bracelet and he held her the whole time until class. and then they had walked together after school as they always did. she seemed a little off, sure, but nothing was actually wrong. maybe she was just on her period or something, girls got all sad when they were on their period. or in bev’s case she got angry; richie had tried to prank her once without realising and she had shouted at him so much he was almost scared of her. and then he was scared of her when she smacked the back of his head with her hardback english textbook a few minutes later. but if anything y/n got even more clingy when she had her period, so he couldn’t fathom what was going on.
he had pouted the rest of the day about it, and was genuinely relieved when he saw her waiting for him in their usual spot after school. she told him that she had some work to do at lunch and that was why she hadn’t sat with him, and he was even more relieved. he walked home with her and held her hand, happy that nothing was wrong.
until she didn’t turn up to lunch on wednesday. or thursday. or friday.
every day she gave the same excuse, that she had something to do, but he could see her pulling away more and more. on friday she didn’t even show up to walk home with him. he couldn’t figure out what he had done wrong.
“is it me? did i do something? does she hate me?” richie paced stan’s living room on saturday afternoon. they all were supposed to go to the quarry that morning, but again; y/n didn’t show.
“why don’t you ask her?” stan had asked from where he was sat on the couch and richie glared at him.
“funnily enough stan i haven’t fuckin’ seen her so i can’t fuckin’ ask her!” richie snapped, waving his hands around in wild gestures as he spoke.
stan huffed out an annoyed breath through his nose and pointed in the direction of his telephone. “call her, dumbass.”
richie’s eyes almost bugged out of his skull, as if stan had come up with the most genius plan in the world, before he scrambled over to the phone and put in her number so fast he almost broke the phone. richie hend the phone to his ear and pulled a face when some random old man picked up and quickly cancelled the call, huffing when he realised he had put in the wrong number and dialed again, slower that time, to make sure he used the right number.
“hello?” y/n answered after the fourth ring, and richie almost heaved a sigh of relief.
“y/n? it’s richie,” he told her, and his stomach twisted uncomfortably when he heard her sigh. “is everything okay? i haven’t seen you in a while.”
y/n didn’t answer for a moment, and richie could picture her biting her lip like she always did when she was thinking over what to say. “uhm.. yeah i’m fine, i’ve just got a lot going on, rich-”
“can i come over?” he interrupted, nervously twisting the phone cord between his fingers, and his stomach dropped when she sighed again.
“now’s not really a good time…” she trailed off, and hearing the negative tone laced in her words made him feel sick. “look, rich, i need to go. i’ll see you soon.”
“wait, y/n-” he started, though the end dile cut him off and he deflated, hanging the phone back up as his shoulders slumped. when he turned back towards stanley he was frowning too, and neither of them said anything until richie fell back onto the couch, visibly upset.
“what am i supposed to do?”
-
she couldn’t do it. no matter how hard she tried, y/n could never be enough for richie. she wanted to be - god, she’d give anything to be as good as ashley, or any other girl that was good enough for him. but she wasn’t.
after she had hung up the phone when richie had called she had burst into tears, not even able to hang the phone back up before she fell back onto her bed, and left it dangling by it’s cord. insecurity wasn’t new for y/n, she had alway been insecure about something; how she looked, her personality, her intelligence. but when she had started dating richie, for a while it was almost like she could look past all of that. richie made her feel beautiful and funny and good, and she finally had someone who cared about her, truly cared about her. but looking back on it, that was all a deluded fantasy stemmed by finally getting positive attention from a boy. she wasn’t enough for him - she could never be enough for him. she wasn’t as pretty as other girls. she wasn’t skinny; her thighs always touched and if she looked at herself from the side she didn’t like how much of her stuck out. her hair was never perfectly done, and she didn’ know how to get her makeup perfect. ashley had been better than her, and y/n just simply couldn’t compare.
on sunday she couldn’t stay in her room anymore. her parents were worried about her, and if they grew any more concerned she would have them questioning her too, and that was the last thing she needed, she had woken up to rain that morning, which gave her a perfect place to go; the clubhouse.
on rainy days, the losers usually just squished into bill’s basement to watch movies and eat junk food. the clubhouse was nice, but when it rained the hatch caused a leak and the ladder became too slippery to be safe; which they found out due to eddie getting a twisted ankle one time.
so y/n had gotten dressed that morning and skipped breakfast to head straight there, ignoring when her phone had rung for the fifth time since her conversation with richie the afternoon prior. she couldn’t handle talking to him. the phone was still ringing when she grabbed her coat and left her bedroom, letting the door shut behind her.
it didn’t take too long to get to the clubhouse; she knew how to get there like the back of her hand after going there for two years. the hatch was wet and the ladder was slippery but she was careful not to slip as she climbed down, and made it safely to the ground without any accidents. maybe she’d have a nice afternoon; the clubhouse was nice, and she had it to herself for once.
though that certainty popped like a bubble when she turned around and saw richie stood beside the hammock, just as frozen as she was. shit.
“y/n-”
“i should go, i forgot something.” she breathed out through the sudden nausea, though as she turned around his hand enclosed around her arm and he spun her back around to face him.
“no, no, no. i need to talk to you.”
y/n swallowed the bile that threatened to make its way up her throat. as she looked up at richie and met his gaze, her stomach twisted into an uncomfortable knot that made it impossible to form any words, so she nodded instead. he looked mad- no, not mad - fuming. she had never seen him look so pissed off, not even when henry bowers had thrown a glass bottle at eddie and missed his head by a mere inch. no, this was different. his grip on her arm was almost too tight and it made her uncomfortable, and the burning fire behind his angry stare made her want to squirm underneath his gaze. she had never seen him like that.
“no bullshit this time, okay? i need to know what the fuck is going on,” richie huffed, his free hand clenched in a fist whilst his other stayed wrapped around her forearm. “you ditch me for lunch, lie about it, then continue ditching me and continue lying about it, and then yesterday you fuckin’ blow me off? what the fuck was that- i just wanted to know if you were okay!” she could only stare at him wide-eyed as he ranted, her eyes glossing over like freshly cut glass with tears. “is it me? have i done something? are you losing interest in me? is there someone else?” he huffed, and when she didn’t respond again richie groaned and stressfully ran a hand through his hair. “i need you to answer me! y/n-”
“i know who ashley is.” her voice was barely above a whisper when she spoke, though it still shut him up. tears had started falling down her cheeks though she had ignored them and continued looking at richie through her slightly-blurry gaze.
“what?” richie cocked his head to the side, scoffing in disbelief. “what the fuck does ashley have to do with the fact that you’ve been ignoring me?”
“i know that you used to date her before i moved here.”
richie blinked in disbelief. “i told you i had another girlfriend before you and you said that you didn’t want to know who it was. is this what this is about? you’re mad that i never said-”
“no!” she yelled, and her expression scrunched up in frustration as he stared at her. “i’m not mad at you, richie! how could i ever- i’m not mad!” she took in a deep heaving breath that hurt her chest as she was holding in tears. “i’m not even mad, i’m just- fuck, richie, seeing ashley made me realise how worthless i am, you know? you used to date someone so perfect, and then you had to downgrade with me! ashley is so beautiful and smart and funny and i’m none of those things! i don’t know why you picked me but you could do so much better!” her voice started wobbling as her tears fell faster, but she ignored them still. “i’m not enough for you! i joined this school two years after everyone else so i’m already behind on everything, i haven’t even known you as long as other girls at school-”
“y/n-”
“-and you could have anyone if you wanted to because you’re smart and funny and attractive, and i’m just some quiet awkward girl who isn’t even pretty enough-”
“y/n, baby-” richie had stepped forwards to place his hands on her cheeks when she had started really crying, though she didn’t seem to notice as she carried on.
“-i just don’t know why you’re settling with me when you can do so much better than me-”
at some point the line between crying and yelling had become unintelligible, and at the point when her breathing had become unsteady and her expression crumpled, richie just pulled her tightly against himself, and as soon as she was pressed to his chest she started sobbing. richie had started saying something to soothe her but she couldn’t make it out through her crying, and could just feel his arms holding her tightly as she gripped onto his shirt in fists as her shoulders shook with her overflow of tears. if he minded the fact that she was staining his shirt with tears he didn’t mention it, and he just kept holding her to himself as she cried. her eyes were sore and her chest hurt, but after some time she had calmed down enough to just be sniffling, her breath catching unevenly and painfully in her chest.
“fuck, y/n.” richie mumbled, and when she felt his hand on the back of her head she whimpered quietly with the urge to sob again.
“i’m being really selfish,” she sniffled. “i know you can do better but i don’t want to lose you.”
“hey hey hey,” richie sighed and lifted a hand to her cheek to tilt her head up to look at him. when her eyes met his she could see he was crying too. “you’re not going to lose me, okay? christ, doll, i’ve been terrified that i was going to lose you all week.”
y/n swallowed thicky through the lump in her throat and pressed her face into his chest, not wanting to look at him. now she had made him cry, what a good girlfriend she was.
richie was moving them to sit somewhere though she didn’t look up until he sat down on one of the chairs and pulled her into his lap, her legs hanging off of either side of his thighs. she usually protested that she was too heavy when he wanted to sit with her like that, but she didn’t have it in her to try. she just continued to grip onto his shirt, and let him rub her back as she sniffled into his shoulder.
“i broke up with ashley because i found out she was cheating on me,” despite the sad words, richie’s voice was perfectly calm, though it didn’t stop the pang of hurt in her chest when she heard it. “i wasn’t really happy with her. she was pretty and somewhat good company but i didn’t love her. i didn’t love anybody until i knew you; i didn’t even know what love was until i loved you,” y/n continued sniffling into his shoulder even as he spoke, and after a pause she heard him sigh before he placed a hand on her cheek so she would look at him again. “y/n, you have no idea how much you mean to me. i wish you could see yourself through my eyes so you could understand how perfect you are. i love you so fuckin’ much, i don’t care that you’re not like ashley. i’m happy that you’re not like her.”
“but she’s so pretty and i’m not-”
richie huffed, silencing her with a pinch to her hip. “yes you are. you’re gorgeous, and i’m not just saying that. you really are the most beautiful person i know. you’re so kind and thoughtful, and you love me for who i am, all of the good and the bad; how could you not be enough for me?”
y/n sighed, her lip quivering as she looked down at her lap with a shrug. “i feel like you shouldn’t have to settle with me.”
richie scoffed, a sound that was so normal from him she almost smiled. “y/n, i am not settling with you. i’m in love with you. i want you and nobody else, that’s it,” he tilted her head up again and let his lips press to her forehead before he met her eyes again. “okay? you’re all i want.”
y/n’s lip quivered again and richie held her into him again, his arms a strong hold around her body. her eyes stung with more tears and she started crying into his shoulder again. “i’m so sorry, rich-”
“don’t apologise, doll, it’s okay. i just want you to know how much you mean to me. we can talk about how you’re feeling when you’re ready to, okay? but i need you to know how much i love and need you.”
y/n nodded and gripped onto him tighter, mumbling a muffled “i love you, too” into his shoulder. she could feel richie start to rock them as he held her against himself, and if anything she gripped onto him tighter. she still felt terrible; how she felt about herself wouldn’t go away with one conversation, and she sure as hell thought he could do better. but his reassurance helped massively, and it was enough to let her relax into his arms as he held her. the rain was still drizzling outside and her quiet sniffles filled the air, though she found comfort in knowing that she wasn’t going to lose richie, and that he wanted her.

Tumblr media
Your POV
Mal and I were playing tag.“Come on Yn . You’re too slow”, she said running through the alleyway causing chaod. “Just like your mother huh Bertha”, I replied tagging her and running in the opposite direction. “I told you never to call me that ”, Mal answered frowning as she tried to catch up to me.
“A villain never keeps their word you should know that. Since your mom’s the baddest of them all”, I said making a sharp turn .
Suddenly , I fell to the ground. “No fair you used magic”, I whined untying the ropes. “Villains don’t play fair my mother taught me that”, Mal said smirking as she helped me up. I punched her shoulder . She winced in pain but smiled anyway. “Nothing is as sweet as payback”, I answered.
Mal POV
“Other than revenge. That’s our specialty”, I said holding her hand. “I hope for both of our sakes ,we get off this stupid rock”, Yn replied kicking some trash. “That’s the first thing I’ll do when I get powerful enough” , I answered determined. Yn chuckled at me. “No one can get through the barrier ,so good luck with that”, she added walking home.
“I promise you Yn . I will get you off of the Isle”, I whispered running home.
Flashback End
Yn POV
I’m eighteen now that was five years ago. Since Maleficent was defeated , Mal and the other VK’s left me high and dry. I hold grudges unfortunately, and I grew bitter. The weak don’t survive on the Isle .
I was walking to Ursula’s Fish & Chips. “Hey Gil. Uma kicked you out again”, I said . He only nodded and pointed at the door . I kissed his cheek. He blushed as I went inside.“I’m looking for Uma”, I announced .
The pirate crew looked at me like they saw an alien. I sighed and created a fire ball.“Tell me where Uma is or I’ll burn this dump to the ground”, I answrred. “A pretty dame like you shouldn’t cause a ruckus”, a boy with eyeliner said. I smirked at him.
I diminished the fireball. I stared at him for a few minutes . “Handsome too, that’s a bonus I take it your First Mate”, I answered taking a seat.
Harry POV
“The name’s Harry Hook. I’ll take you to Uma on one condition”, I said stroking the girl’s cheek with my free hand . I summoned a guy to grab her a drink. “What would that be if I may ask”, she replied taking a sip from her soda. “A kiss. I’m sure you can manage that ”, I taunted.
“I thought you’d threaten me to swim with sharks”, the girl answered chuckling. “You’re smart. Uma will like you. Can I get a name sweetheart ”, I said flashing my smile. “Yn sugar. Pucker up Buttercup”, she replied.
Yn grabbed my hat and kissed me softly away from prying eyes. A few minutes later, she pulled away. “Now its time for you to hold up your end of the bargain. Where’s Uma”, Yn answered. I placed my hat back on my head.
Tumblr media
Uma POV
I walked into the restaurant, everyone’s eyes were on me. I loved it. “You the captain of this crew”, the girl said . “I would tread lightly if I were you”, I replied getting in her face. The girl rolled her eyes and finished her soda.
“Only someone with an ego as big as yours can be a captain. My name is Yn”, she answered holding out her hand . I shook it . “Very blunt . Harry said I’d like you . What brings you here”, I said taking a seat .
“I’m not gonna beat around the bush. I want to join your crew”, she replied sitting next to me . I laughed at her . “You caused all this just to join me”, I answered . Yn nodded smiling.
“Appearances can be decieving”, she said smirking . “You proved that already as well as being manipulative and seductive”, I replied eyeing Harry. “Oh Handsome over there made a deal with me ”, Yn answered nonchalant.
“Why does she get to join us? She looks like a pig , Yn belongs in a barn”, Tanner said . Yn grabbed my sword and raised it against his throat.
“Insults like that can get you killed”, She replied. Harry and I smiled at her. Yn gave me my sword back as Tanner rubbed his throat.
Time Skip 3 Years Later Mal POV
Ever since Uma disappeared I’ve been feeling a little homesick . “Evie you remember Yn right”, I said looking of the window . “Of course I do. You guys used to do everything together. You two were the cutest thing”, she replied smiling. I sighed and  sat on my bed .
“I need to go back Evie”, I answered determined. She went wide eyed. “You feel like you abandoned her” , Evie said placing a hand on her shoulder . I could only nod. “I’ll go inform Ben , just be safe ok?”, she replied smiling as she walked out of the dorm.
“I just hope that Yn can accept my apology”, I muttered.
Time Skip to the Isle of the Lost Uma’s Room Her POV
I was glad that Yn joined me . I needed someone other than Harry to keep the crew in line. “Yn why the glum face”, I said . “Mal’s coming to visit. After all she did to me ”, she replied angered. I gave her a soda. “Drink this. It’ll help you”, I answered. She smiled at me . A real genuine smile . It was something you rarely see on the Isle .
“Look’s like captain’s gone soft. For a Blob no less”, Tanner said . We frowned at him. “Can I please kill him Uma? I’ll be quick about it. No one will know he’s missing. I promise you ”, Yn replied irritated. I kissed her cheek .
“Easy Pearl. I’ll let Harry and Gil deal with him. They’ll be sure to make him suffer”, I answered smiling evilly as I snapped my fingers. “You called Uma”, Gil and Harry said in unison.
“Feed him to the eels”, I replied. Tanner was shocked. “ You didn’t take my advice Tanner . Insults like that will get you killed”, Yn answered as Harry and Gil carried him away to the eels.
I kissed Yn softly. She kissed back .“Let me handle her. Besides , I want to see that smile as often as possible”, I said . “ At least me give her a nice warm welcome”, she replied summoning a fireball. I smirked at her . “That’s my girl”, I answered holding her hand as we walked downstairs to my mom’s restaurant.
Yn POV
Mal burst through the door with a smile on her face. “Yn its so good to see you. me k Its hard to see you work for Uma and her to minions", she replied. I rolled my eyes. “They didn’t abandon me and hook up with a King”, I replied glaring at her . Uma held my hand to calm to down.
“You’ve done enough damage to her.Hardly worth Yn ‘s time if you ask me”, Harry answered. The crew started surrounding her as her eyes started glowing. “Easy guys easy, let the girl get a chance to speak”, I said. The crew obeyed my command.
“Thank you now, I can finally breathe”, Mal replied as her eyes resumed to her natural color. “Lets talk business then Gil grab her a drink”, I replied as I walked to the bar. Mal smirked as Uma and the crew glared as she followed me . He grabbed us two sodas. I kissed his cheek and he smiled. “Why did you come back then”, I replied. “I wanted to fulfil my promise”, she answered .
“Really. That promise was broken the minute you left me for that stupid king at Auradon”, I answered crossing my arms angrily. Mal’s eyes softened. ‘I had no idea that I hurt Yn, I have to get her to forgive me somehow’, I thought determined.

Liar
Request by nightlocknumrich ; So my request was that Ben and Y/N are married and she knows that Ben and Sarah were really close after she saved his life but she thinks they're getting a little too close and then soon she finds him cheating on her with Sarah? Add Abe and Anna in there if you want. And I know this is a sensitive topic for some people and if you don't want to you don't have to. :)) ❤❤
Also - Hello! Could you write a Ben Tallmadge x Reader where the reader is his wife and she finds out about his night with Sarah Livingston and she is conflicted about her love for him and his betrayal? Maybe, if you could, base it off of "Burn" from Hamilton.
Pairing(s); Benjamin Talmadge x reader
Warning(s); angst, cheating, some mentions of NSFW but not a lot. (since no-one said they wanted a happy ending)
A/N; I liveeee for these sort of prompts lololol bring the angsttt ALSOOOO probably kinda long idk lol I got too into it.
Tumblr media
Ever since that night in the cabin, with Sarah, the memories of then only seemed to haunt him.
He couldn't even hold you without thinking of her, of seeing her face and remembering the night they shared. He knew how heartbroken you’d be if you knew about that night, but he couldn't imagine what you’d feel if you knew it was still going on.
“Ben? I made your favorite, why don't you come sit?” you called, setting the plates on the table while he pulled his coat on by the door. He paused, contemplating sitting in for the night with you or seeing Sarah again in the barn.  He heard you humming softly, expecting him to come, but he sighed and just continued to pull his coat on.
“I can't tonight YNN, Washington wants to see me before he and Hamilton set out for battle” he lied smoothly, having told that lie so many times he almost believed it to be true. Seconds after you appeared in the doorway, an adorable pout on your lip with your cheek smeared with flour.
“But I just set the table! surely Washington knows your family is more important!” you scolded, taking in his current attire. He wasn't wearing his uniform, just the same clothes he wore when he had to sneak off to Setauket.
“I’ll make sure to let him know, but I really must get going” he placed a quick peck on your lips before he turned and rushed out the door. The door slammed shut behind him, leaving you in complete silence as you rubbed a hand over your protruding belly.
“Seeing Washington... at this hour?” you bit your lip nervously and you removed the food from the fire so it wouldn't burn. You quickly changed into more suitable clothes before heading out into the camp.
After hearing of your pregnancy, General Washington saw fit that you stayed in a cabin close to camp for better protection. You were grateful for his gesture, and Ben was as well not having to sleep in a cot outside anymore.
You kept to the shadows, keeping an eye out for your husband just in case he wasn't where he said he was. There were only a few soldiers were still up and walking around or sitting by fires near their tents. You huffed, seeing the generals house up ahead and quickly making a beeline for it before you were stopped.
“YN?” you stopped and turned to see Anna walking up to you, a faulty smile on her lips. “What’re you doing out here so late?” she asked softly, stealing a quick glance around before looking back at you.
“I was just looking for Ben ... you haven’t happened to see him, have you?” she shook her head quickly, taking your hands and leading you back to your cabin.
“Nope, last I saw he was walking into Washingtons and hasn't come out since, maybe you should wait back at home-”
“Huh.. maybe you're right, I’ve just been so stressed lately” you sighed, rubbing your forehead as the fear slowly began to fade away. But something still nagged you in the back of your head but you opted to ignore it for now.
“Yup! Here let me help you” you nodded and began to wobble a bit back in the direction of your home with Anna’s help. Unknowing to you, Anna looked back just in time to see Ben slipping out of the barn, stopping only to press a quick kiss to Sarah’s lips before ducking back into the shadows.
“Sarah! What a lovely surprise!” you beamed, smiling happily at the woman who held a basket of goods close to her chest. She smiled timidly, almost shyly in your presence as you urged her to enter the home.
Ben perked up immediately hearing the familiar name, pausing from his writings to look back at her. Just as she entered the room, their eyes immediately met but they forced themselves to look away to avoid blushing like school children. You were oblivious to the interaction while pulling out a seat for the woman to sit in.
“Sit, please! I was just about to set up lunch for Ben” you turned to the fire and pulled out the pot, gently placing it in the middle of the table. The smell seemed to circulate around her, choking her in her guilt. When it became too much, Sarah cleared her throat, effectively pausing you from serving her.
“Actually, YN, I came to speak to Ben” you tilted your head slightly in confusion as you looked back at Ben who nodded at you in silent agreement.
“Oh really?”
“Yea, w-we uh... we need to talk about my release that's coming up” you nodded your head as you stepped back a bit, hands on your stomach. When you didn’t move, Ben stepped in, gently placing his hand to the small of your back.
“In private dear”
“Oh! well, don’t let me interrupt” you blushed as you quickly ducked out the room, not before turning to Sarah, pulling her close. She tensed for some reason when you gave her a serious look.
“I just want to thank you, Sarah, for everything” she nodded when you continued, “For saving him, you really did help save our family” her eyes traveled down to your stomach and an overwhelming wave of guilt overcame her. You had to be about 7 months by now, and here she was... screwing your husband.
“I-I-” she stuttered, but you gave her a soft smile before leaving the room.
“And you're sure you don't want me to come along with you?” he asked, you smiled wide and pressed a kiss to his lips to shut him up. You held him close, his hands coming down to rest on your stomach, kissing you harder.
“I assure you, Benjamin, I’ll be fine, it's just my parents” he sighed and nodded, helping you into the carriage with one more kiss.
“Remember, one week” he nodded, pressing a few more kisses to your lips and face, smiling at the sound of your giggles. He ignored the wrenching guilt in his gut, choosing to accept the love in his heart for you, no matter how much.
Before you set off he made sure to threaten the driver to deliver you and the baby safely before you finally got moving. He watched the carriage get smaller and smaller until he couldn't see it anymore. A few seconds after a different face appeared before him and the love he felt was quickly replaced with the wrenching feeling again.
“You can’t do this to her anymore Ben, you’ll ruin everything you’ve worked for” He looked away from Anna who didn't try to hide her disappointment in him.
“Like you have room to talk” he sneered, it was a low blow but he didn't need to be reminded of the mistakes he's made. Especially when it came to you and the baby.
“Sarah isn’t good for you! you have YN, she’s all you've ever known, don't throw it away for-” she stopped talking when she saw the devil herself walking up the path towards them. Her cloak was shielding her features. a basket on her arm, her cover for visiting at such odd times.
“Ben... I hear YN’s gone out of town to visit her parents” Anna had to bite her tongue from cursing at her. Ben nodded stiffly, he’d rather deal with the woman in their own time, not in front of Anna and the rest of camp.
“Yes, she's visiting her parents for the week” Anna was glaring at him, but he chose to ignore her and the guilt bubbling in his gut. Sarah smiled, and as if she only just realized Anna’s presence, returned to her timid front.
“Well then... I believe now will be best to discuss my freedom after this mess clears up?” she offered, watching and waiting for his reacting. Ben took a deep breath, his eyes meeting Anna’s disappointed ones before looking to Sarah’s lust blown ones.
“We can discuss this more privately...” with that he took her arm and lead her back to the cabin, ignoring Anna’s warnings.
“Thank you so much, Harold, I do apologize for making you go so far,” you told the driver, who only gave you a smile in return.
“It is not an issue Missus Talmadge, it's my duty to keep you and that boy safe” you smiled, hands running over your bump as you took your small bag from the trunks end.
“Thank you again, Harold, stay safe out there” you urged before he was biding you a goodbye. You turned to look back at your home that looked oddly empty, aside from the single candle lit in the bedroom upstairs.
“Ben?” you called out, untying the strings to your cloak, dropping your things by the side of the door. When you didn’t hear a reply, you tried listening out for him, but only hearing muffled sounds coming from upstairs.
“Ben? You here?” you tried again, deciding to check upstairs. The muffled sounds from before sounded more clearly now, louder, coming from the bedroom.
“Ben?” you whispered, almost afraid of what you’d see. You followed the sound before it finally hit you what it was, and who was making them.
Her moans were louder the closer you got, circulating the bedroom and all around you as you ripped the door open to see them. Sarah above him, panting as she rolled her hips down on his cock. You held back a cry as her eyes met yours, they only glanced at you for a second before looking back at your husband. But once she realized someone else was in the room, she screamed and scurried off him, especially when she realized that someone was you.
“Sarah wha-” he looked over and he felt his stomach drop at the sight of tears rolling down your cheeks. You were glaring, but it only crumpled into heartbreak when he tried to explain what was clear in front of you.
“Y-YN you weren't supposed to be back until next week-”
“The weather was bad so I had the driver turn us around... but I wasn't expecting this..” you choked, you couldn't even find it in you to be angry. You felt insignificant, and you clearly were nothing if this woman was still bare under your covers.
“I-I can explain-”
“Don’t bother” was your short response before you turned and slammed the door shut behind you. You moved as quickly as your bump would let you, grabbing your still packed bag and pulling on your cloak as quickly as possible.
You had a foot out the door when Ben came barreling down the stairs. His shirt unbuttoned and his pants hanging off his hips.
“YN! YN wait-” you tensed feeling his hands on you, wanting to gag at the fact his hands had even touched another woman the way they had once touched you. You pulled away, glaring at the way his eyes looked so sad, sad at the fact he caused all of this.
“What Benjamin” your tone was clipped, a clear sign that you were struggling to keep your anger at bay.
“YN, please... let me explain-” he tried again, but you chuckled bitterly, rolling your eyes.
“How do you explain the fact I caught you in bed with another woman! A woman I thought you were just helping but clearly you were helping her out with other things” you snarled, shoving him away from you to turn and stomp down the steps. You weaved through camp, Ben still hot on your tail.
“No! I-Its nothing like that, Sarah and I just-”
“Just decided to go behind my back and screw each other while I was away?” with that you stormed into Gabe’s tent, the bearded man jumping in surprise.
“YN? What’re you doing back so early? I thought-”
“I need you to take me to Pawtucket” he looked even more surprised now, jumping again when Ben appeared, looking breathless, and shirtless. The man connected the dots and instantly was standing in front of you, blocking Ben’s path.
“Move Gabe, this doesn’t concern you” Ben tried, but Gabe didn't step down, only stepping up to him, daring him to do something worse than he already had. When he didn’t, he pressed a firm finger to his exposed chest, a deadly look in his eye.
“You won’t win this fight captain.” the room fell silent, as the two stared each other down with nothing but hatred for each other. You watched, your hand protectively over your stomach until finally, Ben grunted.
“I won’t be far,” with that he turned and left, leaving the tent in silence until you finally cracked. You let out a small whimper before completely breaking down into sobs, fat and heavy tears falling down your cheeks. Instantly you were in Gabe’s arms, crying until eventually, you pulled away.
“I-I’m sorry Gabe... I didn’t mean to wrap you up in this” you sniffled, smiling a little when he cupped your face, wiping away your tears with the pads of his thumbs. He gave you a small one in return, sighing after a while.
“I’m always gone be here for you YN... we should get going” you nodded, you already had bags packed. He helped you carry them towards the boat, surprised to see Anna standing nearby as well. She seemed just as surprised to see you, especially with bags.
“YN! W-What’re you doing here?” there was an edge in her voice you didn’t notice, simply rushing into her arms, holding her tight as the tears welled up again. She tensed before realizing you were crying and immediately wrapping her arms around you.
“He-He slept with her! he did it behind my back Anna!” you cried softly, having already used most of your heavier tears with Gabe. Said man had placed your bags in the boat, waiting for you.
“Ben? I knew Sarah was no good YN, I told you” she spoke softly, rubbing your back soothingly. You froze, sniffling and pulling back to look at her, suspicion in your tone.
“I never told you it was Sarah...” you said slowly, watching panic bubble up in her features. You narrowed your eyes, ripping back as she reached out for you quickly.
“Y-YN wait I-”
“You knew... didn't you.” you hissed, watched as she pressed her lips together. As if Ben’s secret of cheating was far more important than his baby you were carrying, and the future you no longer had.
“I-”
“The truth, Anna” she took a deep breath, before looking down, tears welling up in her own eyes. Cause she knew it was wrong, and she didn’t stop it.
“Yes...”
There was a tense silence in the air now, your hand twitched, the need to slap someone making your blood boil up. She couldn’t meet your eyes, she fiddled with the string of her cloak, flinching when you spoke.
“I never, want to see you guys ever again”
Arriving in Pawtucket felt good. After going so long without seeing your town, your home, it felt wrong, so maybe it was a sign.
You decided not to go to your parents home, deciding you’d stay with your dear friend Mary and her own family in their own home. Mary had welcomed you with open arms, insisting you stay as long as you needed.
“I’m sorry for intruding on you and your family Mary... I’ll be gone soon” she waved you off as she started up the bath for you. You untied your cloak and began to undress just. as she poured some bubbles into the water, the sweet smell wafting up into the air and instantly calming you. Although with the calm came the tears your body had so desperately been trying to keep back.
You stepped into the bath once she said it was okay, and slowly sunk into the warmth, the suds enveloping you in comfort. You hummed appreciatively when Mary began to untie the ribbons in your hair, the strands falling around your face.
When she began to wash your hair, she noticed the tears streaming down your cheeks. The red rims, the swollenness of your cheeks like you’d been crying for hours. Dread filled her, she opened her mouth to comfort you, but you beat her to it.
“I still love him... even after everything he's done to me, I still love him” you choked out, her heart breaking at the sight of you. You sat numbly in the tub, surrounded by bubbled while your hands subconsciously rubbed your soapy belly in soothing circles. At least one good thing would come out of Ben’s betrayal...
“Oh YN..” Mary whispered, brushing your damp hair away from your face as your tears mixed with the water. You looked over at her, her face riddled with anguish as you looked back at her blankly, tears never ceasing.
“Everyone knew about it... even Anna, my best friend knew and she didn't tell me Mary” you shook your head as you stared down at the water, your hair falling back around you. Mary bit her lip, her own past pain of Abrahams cheating with Anna seemed to bubble up again and she spoke before she could stop herself.
“Men... don’t think when passion is present. Ben made a mistake, but it's no excuse” she told you softly, you looked up, but you didn’t look at her, only staring ahead. You stayed silent until the end.
After the bath, Mary left you to get settled on your own. You walked over the trunk at the foot of your bed. It was supposed to be sent to your parents’ house for storage, but after everything, you’d taken it with you by accident.
You kneeled in front of the trunk at the foot of your bed, slowly opening it up to see the lost treasures you’d stored there. There wasn’t much aside from a few dressed from before your pregnancy, a few expensive pieces of jewelry, and some small portraits of you and your family. You were about to shut the trunk but your eye caught sight of the smaller box in the corner. You knew what it was before you even touched it.
Inside were mountains of letters, all from Ben back when the two of you had been courting. A few from when you were children, but one stood out from the rest, the one he’d written to you when you were both just teenagers.
My Dearest YN,
I don’t know how else to tell you this but by writing it out to you, so here goes. Ever since we were children, from the moment you and your family moved into Pawtucket, I knew that I'd make you mines someday. Being your closest friend was good enough for me until now, seeing you being forced to love another, I can’t help but think that it should be me. So I’m hoping that there might be something between us... if there is, meet me at our spot the minute the clock strikes midnight.
Ben
You remembered the minute it struck midnight you ran from your house to the treeline, deep into the woods to the edge of the water. You saw him standing there, under the moonlight beside the tree you both had made yours, holding a single flower in his hand. Hearing rushed footsteps he spun around just in time to catch you in his arms.
“I do like you Ben Tallmadge, I do I do!” his smile was melting and in an instant, you both were sharing your first kiss with each other. He held you for a long time, simply taking in your everything, your heart swelled with love.
You were snapped back to reality when a warm tear hit the parchment. You sniffed, neatly folding the letter back together and putting it to the side while you picked up the rest of the box filled with letters. You walked over the fire, the heat warming your cold skin as you got closer, box in hand.
“Goodbye Ben” you tipped the papers into the fire, watching it all catch aflame in a matter of seconds. You watched them curl under the heat, browning until they turned into nothing but ash.
The ends a little sloppy since I've been trying to post this for a while, UNEDITED

Tumblr media
Ben and you were from two different worlds. He was a famous actor, adored by many, meanwhile you were just an average girl living an average life, working on making your dreams come true. When you met Ben in a simple coffee shop, people completely ignored his presence, as though they didn't even know who he was. Of course, it was a possibility as he had stated that he was usually not recognised when out and about. So, you followed in their steps, not wanting to bother him.
As you woke up that day, you thought it was to be just like every other day. Grab a cup of coffee, work for half a day and get home, throwing yourself on your fluffy duvet. But as it turned out, that day changed your whole life, and it was all thanks to that sweet barista girl who didn't place the lid on your takeaway cup properly. If she had paid attention, you wouldn't have spilled your drink on Ben and you wouldn't have experienced not only how sweet of a person he was, but how easy it was to admire him as an actor, and fall hopelessly in love with him as a regular person.
After 2 years, you couldn't have asked for a better man. There wasn't anyone better for you after all. He treated you like a queen, as though you deserved the whole wide world, and he was ready to give it to you. He had been sweet and kind, funny and playful, passionate, and full of love. There wasn't a single thing you didn't like about him.
At least, that's what you have been telling yourself for the past couple of months. You loved him dearly, you couldn't imagine life without him. Whatever you planned, he was in it, whether it be in the near future or part of a long-term plan. But it often occurred to you that he might not imagine his future with you. He never voiced it of course, but there was one thing that always left an invisible barrier between the two of you. A gap that you couldn't cross with a bridge, a wall that you couldn't climb with a ladder.
That significant barrier you found between the two of you was part of his life, his passion, his love, and you couldn't even think of standing in his way, making him choose between you and his career. Of course, you knew he was doing it for you, he was scared to lose you, scared to throw you to the wolves, but his worry, his overprotective behaviour was the wall you found yourself unable to break. So, you just pushed your worries aside, however painful, and heart-breaking it was to watch the love of your life creating an even bigger gap between the two of you, slowly swallowing your relationship, breaking every simple foundation your shared life was built on. You just sealed your lips and let him destroy your relationship, knowing it was inevitable for the two of you to part at some point, your pleading words ignored for what seemed to be forever.
With silent steps you headed to the bedroom where Ben was adjusting his tuxedo, running his hands through the material, removing every trace of the soft creasing that ran across the clothing. His usually messy locks now sat across his head in a neat fashion, shining like soft silk under the dim light of the bedroom. His top buttons were left undone as he fixed the hem of his shirt, tucking it into his trousers. You leaned against the doorframe as you watched him getting ready, wondering about how long it will take for the two of you to finally walk past each other without realising the damage your relationship had to endure. You knew it was to come, you had anticipated it months ago, but each word that left your lips seemed to have found deaf ears. Ben loved you, it wasn't a question. He was stupidly in love with you and would have given you anything. But he couldn't see the destruction his protectiveness caused between you.
Pushing yourself off the doorframe, you walked up to him with a tender smile and stood between the mirror and him, pulling the necktie you have been holding onto around his neck. "I've been looking for this," he huffed with a playful grin. "You little thief," he chuckled as he leaned down to you and cupped your face, peppering your lips with sweet, but tiny featherlight kisses
"Stop it," you giggled as you tried to push him away, however he had different ideas. He grabbed your hands and wrapped them around his neck whilst his arms sneaked around your waist, pulling you flush against his chest as he deepened the kiss.
"Do you still want me to stop?" His breath tickled your mouth before he captured your lips again, not leaving you time to even consider a possible reply. Ben tightened his arms around you and gently turned you around to lower you on the soft mattress of your shared bed, not even leaving an inch between the two of you as he laid down on you, keeping most of his weight on his arm beside you. The proximity made you feel like you were melting into his body, unable to comprehend where his body ended and where yours began.
However, you had to stop him regardless of how difficult it was. Ben was to attend a gala, and he had to leave sooner than later. "Ben," you whispered against his lips, but he seemed to enjoy occupying yours more than to leave them any time soon. "Ben," you breathed his name weakly, but you didn't have the power to push him away as his lips wandered down your jaw and settled in the crook of your neck. "You need to go," you tried once again, but he didn't seem to share your need to part. "You will be late," your attempt to reason with him seemed fruitless, he continued devouring you without a care for anything beside you. Placing your hands on his shoulders, you pushed him farther away from you until your eyes finally met.
"Why are you trying to make me leave you?" He asked with a mischievous grin across his face. "If I'm not mistaken and I'm not, you were enjoying yourself just as much as I was. Why did we have to stop then?" His tone was like a childish whine, making you giggle.
"Because you have a gala to attend to, mister and you will be late," you chuckled as you tried to push him off you, but he didn't budge.
"I don't want to leave you," he scoffed with a grimace as he buried his face in your neck.
"Well," you started, knowing what you were about to say could possibly start an argument, "if you took me with you, you wouldn't have to leave me," you finished, expecting a frustrated reaction from him and within seconds he removed his face from the curve of your neck and met your gaze with an irritated scoff.
"We have talked about it," he said as he pushed himself off you and rolled to your side, his eyes studying the plain white ceiling.
"We have and we always seem to end up arguing about it. Exactly because we don't agree, don't you think? One of us will have to give in at some point," you smiled softly, not wanting to make a scene.
"Believe me, I would be the happiest person if you could come with me, if I could finally scream to the world how much I love you. But I'm scared. I'm afraid if we go public, it will ruin us, it will chase you away," a heavy, lung expanding sigh left his lips as he ran his fingers through his neatly done hair. "You know I like to keep things private. I don't want all the reporters and paparazzis digging into our lives. And that's what would happen. They would try to take pictures wherever we went, they would dig up all the information about you that they could find. They would make our lives miserable, and I can't risk losing you. I love you too much to lose you," his tone was weak and desperate. Everything about him screamed how much he loved you and you felt guilty for arguing with him, but it hurt you to keep hiding.
"Ben," you whispered his name as you sat up and so did he, his eyes attached to every tiny movement of yours. "You know I love you, right?" You asked and he nodded reassuringly. "I would never want to lose you. I would never want to hurt you, hurt us. But you must understand that we can't keep hiding our relationship forever," you let out a heavy sigh as you turned away from his gaze and nervously fidgeted with your fingers in your lap. "You keep saying that you don't want to lose me. Well, nor do I want to lose you. But you must see the pressure it puts on us, the strain it has on our relationship. We will lose each other if we keep going on like this," you shook your head more to yourself, but Ben reached for your face and cupped your cheeks, gently turning you towards him to meet your eyes.
"What are you saying?" He asked in a pained tone, his voice slightly shaking.
"What am I in your life, Ben?" You asked as you turned away from him, his hands falling to his side, a stunned gasp leaving his lungs. "Because as of lately I'm struggling to understand what we are. We love each other. I can't possibly doubt that. I see the way you look at me, the way you touch me and kiss me, the way you speak to me. I've never felt more loved in my life. But we can't go on dates, we can't go on holidays, I can't hold your hand or kiss your lips when we are out. I can't even go near you when we are in public. We are confined to your house like it's a comfortable prison," a bitter chuckle left your lungs. "I feel as though I've been nothing to you outside of this prison and I can't keep living my life within a 200 square meter confinement."
"I— I didn't," Ben tried to interrupt you, but you had to let your thoughts out before they suffocated you, so you cut him off.
"You are trying to protect me from your world, and I couldn't be more grateful for how considerate you are, but can't you see that it creates a gap between us? I understood that you wanted to wait with the announcement of our relationship. I understood that you were afraid of our relationship being destroyed by all the attention. But we can't keep doing this forever," You sighed as you finally turned towards Ben, his eyes wide open, stunned by your words, his lips parted in surprise, a pained expression spread across his face. But you couldn't stop. You always let him win, let him ignore how his protectiveness affected your relationship. It was time to make him understand the damage he was making. "I agreed with you at the beginning because I knew we needed to see if we were compatible, if we were going to last to make sure that it wasn't just a fling. However, after two years I expected our relationship to be stable, to be ready for a future that we can plan together."
"But it is," he said in a desperate tone, swallowing nervously as he began processing the weight of your words.
"But is it?" You sighed heavily as tears welled in your eyes, attempting to slide down your cheeks, but you forced them back, not wanting to seem weak. "I love you, Ben. More than I've ever loved anyone. But I can't wait for you forever to feel confident enough to finally make an announcement. We can't hide forever, you must understand. Frankly, if you don't feel ready to do so after two years, then I don't see a reason to be together," you couldn't keep your tears at bay any longer, they escaped without your consent, but you couldn't care. It hurt you to think about having a life without Ben in it. "It breaks my heart to say this, but if you are not confident enough in the strength of our relationship, if you are not sure about the future we could possibly have, if you don't have complete trust in me then I don't think it's good for us to be together. All the secrecy— it just damages our relationship," you said as your voice shook and you sniffled, trying to get rid of the tears soaking your cheeks.
"How did we end up here?" Ben spoke up with an incredulous look as he shot up from the bed, a deep frown spread across his brows. "I just told you that I didn't want to lose you and within minutes we are talking about a potential break up?" He asked as he turned to you with a gobsmacked expression, eyes filled with pain. He averted his gaze from you as he walked up and down the room as though he was thinking about something. He was so lost in his thoughts he couldn't even hear you calling him.
"Ben? Can you please talk to me?" You pleaded with him, but he didn't seem to be able to hear you. Or just didn't want to. You couldn't possibly tell what was going on in his head.
"Dress up," he stated as he headed towards the bathroom to redo his hair once again.
"Excuse me?" You asked with a surprised expression, eyes wide as you followed him into the bathroom, needing an explanation.
"You are coming with me!" He stated in a stern tone.
"What?" You scoffed with a single chuckle, before you realised the serious expression he wore. "Are you for real?" You asked with a questioningly raised brow.
"Do I look like I'm joking?" He retorted and stepped closer to you, standing right in front of you, leaving only a tiny gap between your bodies. "I will not lose you. If you want to leave me, if you fall out of love with me, if you decide you don't want to be with me, however heart-breaking it is, I can accept that. But I will not lose you for something so trivial. We will make that announcement today," he stated firmly as he leaned down to you and pressed a soft kiss to your lips, awakening thousands of butterflies in the pit of your stomach. You needed a good second or two to finally find your voice.
"Ben, as much as I would love that, don't you think it's a bit rushed? You shouldn't make such hasty decisions," you tried to reason with him, but he just shook his head.
"Do you love me?" He asked and although you frowned with a confused expression, you nodded. "And I love you, so what's the matter? You said I would have to be confident enough in the strength of our relationship, that I would have to be sure about the future with you, that I should have complete trust in you. Well, I do. I have confidence in us, in our relationship, in our feelings, in our future and especially in you. So, I'd have to argue with you. It's not rushed. Am I still afraid it could destroy us? Yes. But it isn't based on our relationship because I have never believed in anything as strongly as I believe in us. My fear comes from losing you. And I surely won't let it happen over this. So, we are going," by the time he finished his monologue, a sweet smile spread across his face that you couldn't stop yourself from mirroring.
"I– erm, okay, let's go," you chuckled as you stuttered through the words and quickly headed to dress up and do your hair and make-up. In other circumstances you would have been angry for not having enough time to prepare yourself, but your excitement overpowered your frustration and so you readied yourself with a wide grin across your face, stealing glances at Ben every once in a while to make sure you weren't dreaming.
Within half an hour you were ready to leave the house and headed down to the car Ben rented, with the driver seated at the front. Ben's large hand engulfed yours as he interlocked your fingers and kept it in his grasp for the whole journey. His warm touch started off the tiny butterflies in the pit of your stomach over and over again, making you feel both giddy and nervous about what was to come. But Ben's strong hold around your hand provided you with a certain comfort, a silent reassurance.
As you arrived at the event and Ben stepped out of the car, you saw the rapid flashes of cameras and a sudden fear took over your excitement. You felt as though you didn't think things through, and froze both physically and mentally as you sat at the backseat still holding onto Ben's hand. He gave you a questioning look, before he crouched down in front of you, right beside the opened door of the vehicle.
"It's alright," he smiled up at you. "We can do this together," he squeezed your hand, reassuring you that he was right beside you and would not let go of you. You nodded in a reply, but didn't make a move. It took you a few seconds, maybe even minutes to gather all your courage and chase away your fear but you were still anxious and your attempted breathing techniques seemed useless in your situation. Your chest tightened and your mouth felt like it was filled with sand, but as you lifted your head to look at Ben, he wore a tender smile, one that made all your worries banish. Finally you heaved a heavy sigh and stepped out of the car, closing the door behind you. Within seconds cameras flashed in your direction and thousands of questions were directed at Ben as he held onto your hand. You lost complete focus of what was happening, you were simply following Ben's movements and listened to his soothing voice as he talked to the reporters, each bombarding him with questions you couldn't even comprehend. "Are you alright?" He asked as he placed his unoccupied hand on your cheek, gently stroking your skin.
"Yeah," you whispered in a hushed tone, unsure if he could even hear you with all the noise.
"Let's go in," he smiled softly and gently nudged you towards the entrance. Reporters were still shouting his name as you stepped inside the building, but he just offered them an apologetic look and led you forward, not wanting to overwhelm you. By the time you walked past the reception, he pulled you towards a secluded corridor that possibly led to a kitchen, the scent of delicious meals filling your nostrils.
"What are we doing here?" You asked under the dim light, your eyes scanning the place, watching as guests walked inside the venue at the end of the corridor where you came from.
"I wanted to make sure you were okay," he said as he cupped your face, gently stroking your cheeks with his thumbs. "It must have been overwhelming," he added and though you wanted to deny it at first, you decided to be honest and nodded in a reply. "You don't have to act strong. If you are tired, if you feel like it's too much, just tell me. It took me a while to get used to it and it doesn't happen from one moment to another," he reassured you, earning another nod from you.
"I'm okay, Ben. I promise," you offered him a sweet smile as you lifted your hand and caressed his cheek. "I'm not going to lie, it was scary, but I'm alright now."
"Good," he said and stepped closer to you, wrapping his arms around your waist, leaning down to press his forehead against yours. "I have a couple of ideas on how to ease your worries though," he added with a mischievous smile and a playful twinkle in his eyes.
"Oh really. What would they be?" You raised a questioning brow as a wide grin appeared across your face, mirroring his excitement.
"Well, for starters, this–," he planted a tender kiss on your forehead, making you giggle, "and this–," before he went and placed a kiss on your cheek, "also this–," he left another kiss on your nose "but the most important one is this–," he pressed his lips against yours, your arms involuntarily sneaking around his neck as you returned the gesture, his warm embrace, the feel of his lips making you forget about your situation. But it was only momentary. Your mind quickly rid itself off Ben's addictive presence and started off an alarm in your head.
"Ben," you breathed his name against his lips, trying to contain your own desires. "We're in public," you tried to reason with him, but he didn't seem to mind.
"I don't care," he hushed you and pressed his lips against yours, basking in the intimate moment you finally shared in a public place. Sure, it was fairly hidden and no one passed by the two of you, but at last you had the opportunity to hold his hand regardless of the prying eyes. You were able to kiss his lips whenever the craving felt too unbearable. You could go on holidays and arrange dinner dates and the like. Finally, you could spend as much time with Ben as you wanted without hiding how madly in love you were with him.

It’s been raining for a couple of hours. You’re sitting in your last class, waiting for the professor to say “All right, that’s all for the day.” And it’s also the last lesson of this week.
The bell rang.
“Finally. I’ve waited for this moment like my whole life” Your friend said happily.
You both laughed, held each other hand, and walked out the class door.
Looking out the window, you saw the heavy rain. It’s not going to stop soon - You thought. U hate rain, like all the time, ‘cause you think is too loud, and makes things get dirty. But today, something’s changed, you felt exciting in this torrential rain.
Alice - your friend had some works have to be finished at the end of the day, so she said goodbye to u, and stayed at the library for a few hours.
You kept walking to the main door of the building.
“It’s raining cats and dogs” You murmured.
Suddenly, you saw the figure of a tall person. It’s familiar.
“Ben”.
You shouted. That’s your love, who’s waiting beside his car, holding the gray umbrella - classy Ben.
Didn’t wait any longer, you ran as fast as you could toward his opened arms. The water splashed all around.
“Be careful, honey” Ben said outloud
And you quickly rush into his firm chest - where you always feel happy in.
You kept smiling “Hi baby, miss you”
“What’s so funny, y/n? “ He asked curiously. “You don’t always be happy in this kind of weather.”
Of course, he always understands you.
“ Guess what ?… I just passed my final essay. I think I will get out of this university very soon. And I can continue on my traveling schedule.”
He hugged you tighter and kissed your forehead “ Congratulations, my dear. Do you want to go anywhere to celebrate this?”
Ben’s always let you choose everything: where to eat, which Netflix film to watch, and even the flavour of ice cream. And he’s also done as you want - keep this relationship secret. ‘Cause Ben’s a famous actor and u are just a college student. To be honest, you dont want to have any attention. Your life has already been a mess.
“Anywhere. Now you can drive me anywhere with u. It’s up to you. With this energy, I even can climb a mountain “ You said certainly.
Looking deeply into your eyes, Ben couldn't hold himself anymore. He dropped his umbrella, and laid tenderly kiss. You didn't be surprised at all. You kissed him back like no one surrounded you guys right now.
Suddenly he stopped, moved you quickly, and said “Oh I’m sorry y/n. We’re at your university. Let’s go to my car and drive somewhere else.”
“Screw them. I don't care anymore.” You answered and grabbed his head closer, guided him to your lips. You both kissed each other delicately, sometime you just paused to get some air and come back to what you’ve done. Never have you done this in public, but you didn’t care about anything. Right now, you just focused on Ben - your love.

“You know your dress is rather distracting, right?” Ben appeared besides you, placing his hand on your lower back, clearly trying to look anywhere but you. Seeing him after weeks of missing his touch on your skin, his soothing voice shooing away any of your worries made you feel content. His awkward state caused a silent giggle to leave your lips, enjoying his attention even though he tried to make it less obvious.
Standing beside a table, you were simply munching on some cake, trying to distract yourself from having to converse with others. You loved these galas, but you weren’t in the mood to talk to people. Ben was, of course, different. It’s been months since you have been going out in secret, trying to keep it quiet from all the hungry paparazzis, but it seemed your short and tight black dress broke something in him. Even though he was supposed to keep a distance from you, he couldn’t stay away.
“Does that bother you?” You asked with a cheeky smile, your skin burning under his touch. He has been away for 2 weeks and from the airport he quickly hurried over to the gala, he couldn’t even hold you in his embrace for a mere second before you had to appear in public.
“Not in the slightest, but it’s fairly hard to concentrate on anything else besides you,” he cleared his throat awkwardly, earning an even wider grin from you. “I find it hard to maintain a distance,” he murmured under his breath, careful not to reveal your relationship to anyone lingering around. He lifted his glass of wine to his lips, taking a sip of the beverage.
“Would you prefer if I didn’t wear anything?” You whispered, leaning closer to his ear, your lips barely touching his skin. The drink must have gone down the wrong pipe as he started coughing heavily, whilst you tried to gently pat his back to help him. Although you felt bad for playing with him, you couldn’t stop a low, devilish chuckle to escape your lungs.
“You’re not making it easy on me tonight, are you?” He asked, finally recovering from his earlier incident.
“Well, I certainly didn’t plan on killing you, if that makes you feel any better,” you chuckled, placing your hand on his biceps, gazing up at him with your most innocent expression.
“Don’t even try to distract me. I know that look better than you think,” he scolded you playfully, knowing you enough to realise your little tricks. “It was a close call and it’s all your fault,” he replied with a humorous tone whilst shaking his head.
“To be completely honest, it wasn’t my fault,” you replied, nonchalantly shrugging your shoulders. “You initiated the conversation to begin with,” you replied with a proud smirk.
“So, that’s the way we will go about it, huh? Just wait until we get home,” he warned you with a mischievous smile across his face, his eyes darker than ever, a newfound passionate flame burning in them, watching your every move like a panther ready to pounce on his prey. You weren’t sure for how long you could keep eye contact, your heart was about to escape your ribcage, your lips dried out from your heavy breathing. You quickly looked away, trying to escape the effects he had on you, your cheeks flushed from his eager eyes. “I feel like I won this round,” he chuckled happily, earning a deadly gaze from you.
“Not funny, Barnes,” you hissed, disappointed in yourself for letting him have such power over you.
“Barnes?” He asked, his eyes wide open, clearly stunned by your reaction.
“I don’t like you now,” you huffed, pouting, causing a loud laughter to leave his lungs, turning a couple of heads in your direction, multiple pairs of curious eyes landing on him. But he didn’t seem to mind. Your scraped pride entertained him way too much for your liking.
“As if you could control your feelings,” he chuckled as he placed his suit jacket over your shoulder and rested his hand on the small of your back, leading you out to the balcony. “Did I hurt your little pride?” He asked with a mischievous grin across his face, clearly happy with himself.
“Huh, as if,” you huffed, crossing your arms in front of your chest, enhancing your cleavage under the black, mesh fabric covering your upper body. There was a few seconds of silence from Ben, even though you expected him to come back with a witty comment just like he did most of the time, but he didn’t. Instead, he was looking around as if he was searching for something. “What are you doing?” You asked, frowning at his fidgeting, acting slightly awkward.
“Nothing,” he replied as he looked around the balcony, then his eyes turned to the grand stairs leading down to the garden in front of the terrace, filled with beautiful flowers, gigantic foreign trees and fairy lights decorating the surrounding area. A small smile appeared on Ben’s face, before he turned to you and got hold of your hand, linking your fingers, leading you down the stairs.
“Where are we going?” You asked curiously, but you followed him anyway, regardless of his lack of reply. As you arrived at the bottom of the stairs he looked around, searching for wherever he was taking you. “Are you trying to kidnap me?” You asked with a suspicious gaze, squinting at the man in front of you.
“Oh, you would like that, wouldn’t you?” He laughed at your absurd idea as he started gently pulling you after himself, before he halted under the balcony, leaning his back against the wall and pulling you to his chest, causing you to clumsily fall against him, balancing yourself with your hands on his chest.
“Is this where you will kill me? Hidden away from all the witnesses?” You asked giggling, earning an eye roll from Ben.
“As if I could ever lay a hand on you,” he replied, sneaking an arm around your waist under his jacket, his free hand cupping your cheek, stroking your skin gently. You tilted your head into his palm, enjoying his warm touch, finally being able to feel him against you. Lifting your arms, you wrapped them around his neck and stood on your tiptoes, connecting your lips. You missed his lips against yours, his arms around your body making you feel safe and comfortable, his chest heavily rising and falling in your presence, his heart beating in a fast pace against your chest, his pulse quickening under your touch. Even though he had a certain effect on you, he was just as captured by your presence. Both of you desperately needed each other more and more, regardless of how close you already were physically.
“I missed you,” you whispered against his lips as you lowered yourself to the ground.
“I missed you too. I hate that I couldn’t catch you earlier,” he shook his head, heaving a heavy sigh.
“Well, you are doing quite alright now. Being all desperate to hide away with me,” you wiggled your brows playfully.
“It’s hard to say no to you. You could be wearing a simple pyjama and I would still feel like a foolish little child, trying to stay close to you,” he smiled softly, watching you with an endearing gaze.
“Your standards are very low, Mr. Barnes,” you snorted at his absurd idea, causing him to chuckle.
“No, they are not. I just can’t get enough of you,” he replied, attaching his lips to your once again, enjoying your body in his arms, your light perfume surrounding him, your gentle touch through his thin shirt. Although he never actually said it out loud, he knew he was crazy for you. A small smile of yours, a soft giggle leaving your lungs, a soft touch of yours on his body was worth more than he ever dared to admit. He was utterly and hopelessly in love with you.

Rolling from left to right, thrashing around in your bed, you found it difficult to return to dreamland. You tried hard, squeezing your eyes shut, focusing on your breathing, but instead of falling into a deep slumber, your eyes shot open. Groaning slightly, you turned to your left, meeting your boyfriend’s ever so handsome face, his features calm and soft, his breathing even.
As you watched his relaxed form, you lifted a hand and ran your fingers through his already messy hair, falling in various directions. It wasn’t hard to fall for him, he was an absolute sweetheart who always made sure to lighten the mood when people seemed tense. He always knew just the right words to make you feel safe and treasured. His cheeky comments made you smile with a silly expression, falling head over heels for him repeatedly.
Ben had a certain personality that made everyone feel at ease and even if you wanted to, you couldn’t deny how easy it was to be captured by his genuinely kind heart. Without realising, you fell for the man. You never imagined your feelings would ever be reciprocated, but as you laid beside him in your shared bed, watching him in his deep slumber, feeling safe and comfortable around you, it made you feel proud. Giving him a safe place where he could be himself and just let loose of all the boundaries he had to keep up because of his fame was exactly what you wanted to offer him. As he laid besides you, soundly sleeping as you caressed the side of his face, running your fingers through his messy, but soft locks, you couldn’t stop a content smile from forming across your face. His mere presence made you feel as though you won the lottery.
“Am I that handsome?” his hoarse morning voice made you jump. He chuckled playfully, causing tiny crinkles to appear beside his closed eyes.
“Excuse me?” you asked, still startled by his unexpected reaction. Lifting a hand, you placed it in front of your heart, trying to organise you irregular breathing.
“Do you really think I can’t feel you staring at me? You are basically burning a hole in my face,” he grinned proudly, knowing just how much you loved forgetting your eyes on him. As silly as it was to think of such things, you often found yourself wondering what could you have possibly done in a previous life to find a man as sweet and kind as Ben was. Foolish of a thought, but sometimes you questioned if he was even aware of how wholesome of a person he was and how easy it was for others to feel comfortable around him with a simple soft smile, not even a word leaving his lips.
“I have no idea what you are talking about,” you replied in a faux surprise as if his words weren’t true. As if you didn’t stare at him for the past 20 minutes, contemplating how deeply in love you were. As if waking up beside him, seeing his handsome face as you opened your eyes for the first time that day didn’t make you the happiest person.
“Do you take me for a fool?” he asked, finally opening his dark eyes, his sleepy gaze capturing you, leaving your mind empty, only focusing on the man beside you. You wished to be able to turn away, but you were incapable of doing so. He made you feel as though you were addicted to him, even if it sounded wrong.
“I would never,” you replied with an innocent smile. “Though you do have dumb moments,” you added with a silent scoff, earning a blank expression from Ben. Shaking his head, he shimmied closer to you, sneaking an arm around your waist, earning a soft sigh to leave you lips.
“That’s not very nice of you to say,” he replied with a mischievous smile slowly spreading across his face, making you feel suspicious.
“You asked a question and I simply replied,” you spoke with a deep frown across your brows, trying to understand why your boyfriend looked like he was about to do something you were not going to like. “Ben,” you called for him as his eyes watched you intensely, “I don’t like that look on your face,” you tried to pull away, but his arm around your waist was stronger.
“What look? I’m just admiring my beautiful girlfriend, there’s nothing wrong with that,” he replied with fake innocence, his voice anything but genuine. Squinting, you attempted to back away from him, but his arm stopped you once again. “Are you trying to escape? That hurts. A man can’t even show his love anymore?” He scoffed, but you knew him well enough to know he was playing around with you. You didn’t have to wait long, before he pinned you under him with a swift movement and started tickling your side.
“Ben!” You raised your voice, a warning tone lacing his name. “No!” You got hold of one of his arms, trying to get away from him, but he overpowered you. Involuntarily, you kept laughing, tears streaming down your cheeks, stomach cramping from your heavy laughter. “Stop!” The tone of your voice pleading, but he didn’t stop. “I’m begging you, please stop,” you tried again, your vision blurry from the tears.
“Well, it’s not often that I hear you begging me to stop,” he chuckled with a naughty smile, finally releasing you from his hold, dropping down beside you on the bunched-up duvet.
“Oh hush,” you breathed weakly, trying to recover from his attack. “That was uncalled for,” you scolded him, gently punching his shoulder, before you scooted closer and placed your head on his chest, his arm wrapping around your waist, drawing random patterns on your ribs.
“You don’t seem to mind now,” he smirked proudly, enjoying your body against him, your fingers playing with his light chest hair. Leaning down to you, he hinted a small kiss on your forehead, earning a silent giggle from you. Looking up at him, you admired his soft features. Cupping his face, you ran your thumb across his short beard, enjoying as his facial hair gently pricked your soft skin.
“You are lucky I love you,” you huffed as you tried to get up from beside him before his arm around your waist pulled you back against him.
“Where do you think you are going?” He asked, his tone almost desperate for you to stay.
“To the bathroom? I need to get ready,” you explained furrowing your brows.
“Ready for what? I didn’t know you had plans already,” he sighed heavily, letting go of your waist.
“Well, nothing concrete,” you replied, earning you a hopeful twinkle in his eyes and a small smile in the corner of his lips.
“So, does that mean you will stay at home?” He asked, hoping you would say yes.
“I mean, sure, I guess. Do you have something in mind?” You asked with a questioningly raised brow and before you could even react, an arm sneaked around your hips, the other wrapped around your waist and you were pulled on top of him with a squealing sound leaving your lips. “Ben—,” you tried to scold him, but he cut you off.
“Let’s just stay in bed. It’s been so long since we have spent a day doing nothing at all, just the two of us,” he pleaded, his eyes growing wider, wearing an innocent look across his face. A heavy sigh left your lungs, dropping your head in the crook of his neck.
“Fine,” you gave in, smiling against his soft skin, knowing he was always working, on the go, attending events, shooting movies, and having photos shoots. But a loud rumbling sound quickly interrupted your idyllic moment. Lifting your head, you looked up at him with an awkward smile. “On that note, can I at least get out of bed to whip up something for us?” you asked pouting, your stomach clearly objecting against Ben’s idea.
“You better come back quickly then,” he wiggled his brows playfully, but before you could have left his arms, he pulled you back against him, meeting your lips halfway, reminding you of what was to come if you didn’t hurry. “Did I make myself clear?” He asked, chuckling.
“Very much so,” you replied with a silent giggle, rushing out of his arms, quickly picking up your bathrobe, walking to the kitchen in haste to get back to your man as quickly as you could. Standing on the tip of your toes, you pulled out a pan and a bowl from the cupboard and took out a couple of eggs from the fridge, but before you could have gone for the flour, two arms around your waist and a face in the curve of your neck stopped you. “What are you doing?” You asked whilst breaking the eggs on the side of the bowl.
“You were too slow,” he mumbled against your skin, his voice barely audible as he left a small kiss on your vein.
“You are so whipped, Mr. Barnes,” you giggled as you turned around and linked your arms behind his neck, pulling him down to kiss you. You could feel him smile into the kiss as he picked you up, holding your thighs firmly, forcing you to wrap your legs around his waist as he carried you towards the bedroom. “Those pancakes won’t make themselves,” you whined against his lips.
“Well, I guess they have to learn to,” he scoffed playfully, shutting you up with his mouth, stopping you from interrupting your moment any further. It’s safe to say the pancakes didn’t make themselves in the end, but later that they Ben finally realised you both needed to be fuelled before you continued your day of “doing nothing”.

Working behind the scenes of a movie set has always been what you dreamed of. You were never quite determined enough to be a director, a producer or a script writer, nor did you have the passion for it, but you certainly had an aesthetic view that just fit perfectly to find the right objects for particular scenes. Therefore, you became the prop-girl. Of course, you had an official title, property assistant to be exact, but seemingly everyone preferred the prop-girl title and after years of fighting it, you just gave in. That was the least of your problems after all.
The amount of effort put into all those blockbuster movies sometimes sucked your soul out. Considering the huge amount of work you have put in, you never really looked at it as a job. You loved what you were doing even if people sometimes looked down on you for being “just” the prop-girl. Even though you had some unpleasant encounters with some of Hollywood’s sweethearts, it never discouraged you, because amongst all the rotten apples, there were always those that made you just a little happier, a little giddier, a little more excited about a new day.
There was a certain person who ticked all the boxes in brightening your day and you often caught yourself staring at him shamelessly. His positivity, refreshing personality and banter always caught you off guard and for mere seconds you even forgot to pay attention to the tasks you were supposed to be completing. You knew you were good at your job, hell you were one of the best, but seemingly Ben’s presence set you back on quite a few occasions.
As you were watching him act out a scene along with his co-star Amber Rose Revah, you tried to focus on organising a dining table for his upcoming scene, but you just couldn’t concentrate when Ben walked around the room half naked with only a towel covering the lower half of his body. No sane person could have paid attention to anything beside Ben. He walked across the set with a straight back, a wide and happy grin across his face, securely holding the top of his towel around his waist. Even if you wanted to look away, you couldn’t have possibly forgotten the view. He wasn’t just a great company, but a very handsome one to look at.
“Prop-girl, that table won’t set itself,” you heard a grumpy voice from behind you and quickly started to set the cutleries and plates in an orderly fashion. Knowing you had to work quickly finally diverted your attention from Ben and the steamy scene about to happen. It wasn’t their first time acting out their bedroom scene and each time it got even more heated. The director didn’t seem to be happy with the outcome, so he kept pushing them to do it over and over again. As you arranged the fruits in a small wooden basket, you tried to forget the tiny little weight settling in your stomach, jealousy resurfacing within you. Knowing you had no right to be jealous as a mere friend, you always attempted to mask it.
As you finished setting the table, you walked back to the gigantic prop room and started searching for another set of objects for the same scene. Each day you arranged everything in an orderly fashion, but many of you worked on different scenes, so it was inevitably a mess most of the time and things were never where you left them. You heaved a heavy sigh, trying to calm yourself down, knowing it would take ages to find what you were looking for and a frustrated state would not help your case.
“Hey, prop-girl, is the scene ready?” you heard the same grumpy voice again. It was your boss, Jerry who seemed to have a grudge against you even though you never talked back to him or went against his orders.
“Not yet, I’m trying to find the cushions for the sofa,” you replied quickly, searching on the shelves, the floor, even in the bin bags that you used to store curtains, tablecloths and bedding sets. “Ah, here,” you exclaimed excitedly as you rushed back to the set, arranging the cushions on the sofa and the armchair beside the table.
“Next time try to be quicker,” he groaned with a disgusted look on his face and left the room. You grimaced at the man, scrunching your nose, his behaviour irritating you each day just a little more.
“That’s not very professional,” you heard a voice from behind you, making you jump. Placing a hand above your heart, you took deep breaths as you turned around to look at your unexpected visitor, although his voice already gave him away. However, this time, to your disappointment, he was wearing a shirt. “Did I scare you?” he asked with an innocent expression.
“No, I just like jumping,” you retorted in a sarcastic manner, making him chuckle, revealing the little crinkles beside his dark irises.
“Sorry, I meant to surprise you, not scare you,” he apologised with a sheepish smile, one that reassured you his apology was anything but genuine.
“Your face doesn’t match your words,” you replied with a half-smile, knowing you couldn’t be mad at him.
“And I thought I was a better actor,” he huffed in fake annoyance. “I’m a fraud,” he added with a grin. But then his expression changed to a more serious one and although he was wearing a smile, it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I’m curious. Why do you let him talk to you like that?” he asked, his smile completely disappearing.
“Ben—,” you sighed as you called his name. “it’s complicated,” you tried to avoid the subject, but he didn’t seem to want to let it go just yet.
“You don’t have to argue, you could just tell him that the way he talks to you makes you uncomfortable,” you knew he just wanted to help, but even the thought of having a conversation with Jerry was tiring. Overthinking was one of your strongest personality traits and to get into a confrontational situation, you needed to mentally prepare, possibly practice different scenarios in which you’d act out what you’d say and how he could react. The simple thought of putting so much effort into such a small issue discouraged you already.
“It’s not that big of a deal. He is just grumpy,” you replied. “Honestly, I don’t want to argue, and I know him, he has been my boss for months and it’s not the first time I am working with him. Sure, he is inconsiderate and fairly annoying, but he is good at his job, he is just not good at communication,” you added.
“That’s not really an excuse, is it?” Ben asked with a frown. “He is in a leading position. He should learn how to communicate, how to manage his people. Mood should not be an issue on a daily basis,” he groaned, dissatisfied by your logic.
“I love that you are so worried, but I’m a big girl, I’m quite sure I can take care of myself,” you offered him a reassuring smile and walked past him to finish the last touches in the room.
“A strong and independent woman,” he chuckled. “You never fail to mention,” he added, making you let out a quiet snort. You could feel his eyes on you as you were moving around, taking care of the smallest little details, the angle of the napkins, the bows on the curtains, the corners of the cushions. As you finished the table, or so you thought you did, you frowned at the sight of the empty wooden basket in the middle of the table. You could clearly recall filing it up with fruits, but they were nowhere to be found.
“I’m telling you we have a thief in this place,” you huffed, throwing your hands in the air, earning a chuckle from Ben.
“What’s the problem?” he asked with a wide grin across his face, his happiness at your misfortune slightly irritating you.
“Each time I use real food as props, someone eats them. This is not a restaurant for god’s sake,” you whined as you headed back to the kitchen to pick up another batch of apples and pears. Ben followed you diligently as if he had no better things to do. You quickly halted and turned around, causing Ben to run into you. He got hold of your waist, steading both of you, before you could have fallen to the ground.
“Why did you stop so abruptly?” he asked with a deep frown, his face ever so close to yours. For a moment you forgot how to talk, how to articulate not even a sentence, but a single word. Your heart was beating in your throat, your pulse rushed through your veins, whilst your chest decided to ignore all the air you so desperately tried to inhale in the slowest of pace. Quickly scolding yourself, you collected all your strength and opened your mouth to talk.
“Why do you keep following me? Don’t you have somewhere to be?” you asked, shaking your head with a suspicious smile, trying to mask how much his closeness affected you, whilst being curious about his intentions.
“Not right now,” he said as he stepped back, watching you, studying you, his gaze penetrating yours, making you slightly flustered. You could feel your cheeks heat up at his intense gaze, starting your heart off in an even quicker pace. Ben was anything but a good influence on your physical and mental health. If it wasn’t your heart going mad for him, then your mind betrayed you.
“Well then find something,” you added, ruder than you wished you had. Trying to regain your self-control, you turned around and continued to walk towards the kitchen.
“I did,” he replied quickly as he started following you. “I’m assisting you,” he chuckled, earning a heavy sigh from you. As much as you enjoyed his company, his presence was anything but helpful when you were supposed to be concentrating on your work. You shook your head in a reply and as you arrived at the kitchen you picked up the fruits you needed and brought them back to the set, placing them where they were supposed to be before someone decided to stuff themselves with the props once again.
“Ben?” you called out to him, earning a humming sound from him. “Would you mind not staring at me?” you asked as you turned around, leaning against the table with your arms folded in front of your chest.
“I’m not staring. I’m observing,” he replied with a mischievous smirk.
“It’s the same thing,” you rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t possibly hide the tiny smile in the corner of your lips. He certainly had a way with words and sometimes it made you feel as though you were losing against him in a battle. “Please, just go and do something. You will have to film the next scene soon,” you added, begging him to give you some space to be able to concentrate on anything but him for a second.
“Fine, I actually have to revise some of the scripts,” he grimaced, although you knew he loved practicing his lines, he loved his job after all.
“Do you want me to wait for you after you finish?” you asked and the wide, enthusiastic grin spreading across his face, made you return his expression. His smile was powerful and whenever he was happy it seemed to be affecting everyone around him, including you.
“Sure, we will finish in a couple of hours,” he nodded and waved at you as he walked back to his trailer. It wasn’t a rare event that you waited for one another and whilst you knew he only thought of it as friends hanging out, for you they meant more. Being with Ben felt like hope, even if deep down you knew you were to remain friends. It hurt, it often left you wondering how you would be able to get over him, but in the end, just being beside him made you the happiest you have ever felt, and you didn’t want to lose that even if you had to stay just friends.
*
It was rather dark and chilly outside by the time Ben finished. As you looked at his trailer and his silhouette appeared from time to time behind the closed curtain of his window, you knew he was rushing to get ready. You knew that the shooting never finished in time, but you still waited, because even if you could only spend half an hour with him, it was more than worth it.
“I’m so sorry,” he apologised as he stepped out of his trailer, closing the door behind him. Half of his jacket was hanging on his side, whilst his other arm already slipped into the other sleeve. His hair was a mess and the belt of his trouser was undone. He was anything but ready to leave.
“I honestly don’t mind waiting, especially when you look like a mess,” you giggled at his state.
“Not funny. I didn’t expect to finish so late,” he replied as he slipped his arm into his sleeve and did his belt.
“It’s fine, don’t worry,” you smiled gently, reassuring him that it was okay. “Do you want to grab something to eat?” you asked as you looked at your watch. “It’s only 10pm so we are not that late,” you added.
“Sure, we can grab something. Maybe we could go to that little pub right beside your flat,” he suggested, and you nodded in agreement. You quite regularly visited that old Irish pub, loving the happy expression on Ben’s face as he explained how much it reminded him of the proper English pubs he grew up around, making him nostalgic. At those times he always told you stories about his past, his childhood, his family and you could have watched endlessly as he drowned in the mass of stories with a cheerful smile and blushing cheeks. You always found it interesting that people barely recognised Ben, but you didn’t mind, because at least you could have him all to yourself even if for just a couple of hours.
It didn’t take you long to arrive at the pub, the taxi Ben called took you there in about 20 minutes. As soon as you stepped inside and took a table, sitting beside each other, you ordered a burger off the menu whilst Ben asked for a fish and chips. Of course, alcoholic beverages could not have been ignored in a pub nor did they stop coming. After the first beer came the second and after the second came the third, but as soon as you reached the 5th round, you couldn’t possibly tell how many you had drank after. You felt tipsy, the pub seemed way too warm for your liking. The music was fairly loud as well, but Ben sat close enough for you to be able to hear him just fine. You have been joking about the silliest things, both of you clearly intoxicated, but daring not to admit your defeat.
“I’m not drunk,” he said, pointing at you with his index finger and a proud smirk across his face. “I’m just very happy,” he added to clarify his state.
“Happiness doesn’t make your words slurred,” you retorted quickly, catching him off guard, chuckling at his surprised expression. He was searching for the right words, almost straining himself in the process, but he didn’t seem to find them.
“Whatever,” he scoffed, but attempted to have a straight face, trying to maintain his pride.
“We are both a bit tipsy, so you are not alone,” you admitted, trying to make him feel a little better, and according to the increasingly growing smile on his face, you seemed to have been successful.
“You just admitted that you are tipsy,” he said with a proud grin. “But I never did,” he chuckled triumphantly.
“You little rascal,” you shook your head, but you had to admit that alcohol and Ben’s closeness was anything but a good influence on your judgment.
“You know, I was wondering about something,” Ben started, catching your attention and curiosity.
“Yeah, what about?” you asked with a questioningly raised brow.
“Why are you so bothered about someone stealing the prop food?” he asked, tilting his head to the side, making you frown. You expected any kind of subjects, but work in that moment. Although it wasn’t unusual, that’s what connected you in the first place.
“Because they are basically eating up my work? Those props are there for a reason. We have a kitchen they can use if they wish to. I have hours of work in those tiny little details so someone stuffing themselves with my work is just frustrating,” you huffed, slightly annoyed at the thought of someone messing with you regardless of it being intentional or unintentional.
“It really does frustrate you, doesn’t it?” he asked as he took a swig of his beer.
“Yes, it’s quite irritating. I just want to know who is doing this to me and why it is so necessary,” you grimaced as you joined Ben in emptying your bottle.
“Have you ever thought about the option that someone might eat your props for the sole purpose of getting your attention?” he asked, shrugging his shoulders.
“What do you mean?” you furrowed in confusion.
“I mean, maybe they want you to think about them,” he tried to clarify.
“Highly unlikely,” you replied with a scoff and disbelieving smile. “And how could I even think about someone whose identity I don’t even know?” you asked, trying to argue his theory.
“Maybe it’s not the identity that they want you to think about, but just their existence. Maybe they like you, but they don’t dare to reveal themselves because they don’t want you to be disappointed or possibly, they don’t want to ruin something. Maybe it’s a childish approach, but they might have thought if they told you that they liked you, it would ruin a friendship,” he said, nonchalantly sipping on his drink, but he didn’t look at you, instead his eyes wandered around the place as if he had never seen it before.
“Ben, do you know who it is?” you asked, being suspicious about his very detailed reply.
“How would I know?” he asked with an innocent expression, making you feel even more curious about his monologue.
“Well, for one you were very detailed in your reply. Two, I just feel like you know more than I do,” you replied with a deep frown across your brows, feeling as though even the last drop of alcohol evaporated from your body.
“I just imagined what I would do if I was that mysterious thief,” he replied in a casual tone, but you just knew him enough to realise that his behaviour was more than unusual. You could have blamed it on the alcohol, his still slightly slurred speech and lack of attention were a sign of him being intoxicated, but there was just something bugging you about him.
“Nah, you know something,” you added as you slipped closer to him in your booth, placing your hand on his arm, your eyes fixed on his, trying to get him to talk with a stern look across your face. Trying to seem serious, you wanted him to spill his secret. You were convinced that you had a firm stance and that Ben would give it up any time.
But he didn’t. Instead he bursted out laughing and reached for your head, petting your hair with a sweet smile across his face. “You’re adorable when you want something,” he chuckled.
“You’re unbelievable,” you huffed, pouting.
“Come on, don’t pout, it makes you even more adorable,” he laughed, his cheeks blushing as he watched your childishly sulking form.
“I’m a grown up woman, I’m anything but adorable,” you retorted in an annoyed tone.
“Then you are cute,” he corrected himself.
“I’m not a child, I’m not cute,” you huffed, feeling frustrated, crossing your arms in front of your chest, showing just how much you despised his adjectives. You sank into the leather seat, trying to hide away from the enjoyment he felt in treating you like a small child.
“What do you want me to call you then, huh?” he asked, but this time there was no smile on his face or a humorous tone in his voice. He looked serious, somewhat determined. “Should I call you sweet and kind?” he asked as he leaned closer. “Or would you prefer pretty? Maybe beautiful and charming?” he continued, instantly decreasing the gap between the two of you after each word. “Or stunning, is that it?” you gulped, feeling startled by the mere inches between you and Ben. You weren’t sure what kind of game he played, but you have never seen him act like that before.
“I—,” words didn’t come, your brain gave up on you. There was just you and Ben’s beautiful dark eyes, blushing cheeks, stubbly jaw and slightly pink lips only inches away from you. That gap he has left between the two of you felt like both physical pain and a life-line you held onto before you could have done something you knew you would have regretted.
“I’m just messing with you,” he chuckled lightly, somewhat awkward as he leaned back into his place, leaving you disappointed as you let out a heavy sigh. For a second you thought he wanted to kiss you, that he was so close because he felt what you did. But soon your foolish thoughts disappeared, realising just how silly they made you look. As if he would ever feel more than friendship, when he was surrounded by hundreds of beautiful women every single day. You knew comparing yourself to all those stunning people wasn’t healthy, but by your train of thoughts they kept you humbled and down to earth.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable,” he quickly added as he realised how awkward you seemed. Making him feel guilty was the last thing you wanted to do, so you quickly put on a fake smile and shook your head.
“No, no, it’s completely fine,” you tried to reassure him. “I think we should go. We might have drank a bit too much and we have work tomorrow,” you tried to save yourself from further embarrassment.
“Yeah, that’s a good idea,” he said, quickly standing up, even stumbling slightly. “Oh, that was unexpected,” he chuckled and even against the weird atmosphere, you could couldn’t stop yourself from giggling at his clumsiness.
“I think that just shows how right I am, as always,” you grinned proudly, nudging his shoulder. He just shook his head and quickly asked for the bill. Before you could have even protested, he paid for the food and drinks already. Although you tried to scold him, he just shushed you and attacked your previous statement about how you were always right except when you weren’t.
As you walked towards your flat, you hooked your arm with Ben’s, just like you always did. It seemed strange at first, you still felt somewhat uncomfortable, but there was also some kind of a comfort in being so close to him even though he felt unreachable. However Ben was slightly distracted, he kept looking around as if searching for something or someone, but it was a rather quiet night.
“Is everything okay?” you asked with a suspicious gaze fixed on his handsome face. He halted and turned to you with a serious expression, one that clearly said he had something on his mind, something he wanted to say out loud, but he just couldn’t find the words.
“I really need to tell you something, but I’m not sure now is the right time,” he spoke finally, his words conflicting.
“Well, if you don’t feel like telling me now, you can tell me tomorrow. We will meet anyway,” you added reassuringly, trying not to pressure him.
“ I know,” he heaved a heavy sigh. “But I have been keeping this in for so long, I really feel the need to say it, but at the same time I’m also quite intoxicated which is messing with my head,” he explained and you weren’t sure how to reply. You were of course curious and wanted to know what he wanted to tell you, but at the same time you didn’t want to press him.
“I can’t help you with that, Ben,” you replied. “If you have something to tell me, it’s up to you, although you made me curious now,” you smiled sweetly, trying to lift the serious atmosphere brought up on your pair.
“You know, you were curious why I knew so much about your little prop-thief, right? And I did say that I didn’t know, but I wasn’t telling you the truth,” he confessed, but you didn’t know how to respond. There were so many questions in your head. Why would he lie? Who could it be? Why did they do it? But you weren’t sure what to ask exactly. Luckily you didn’t have to ask anything as Ben decided to continue his monologue. “I wanted to tell you who it was, but it’s not easy to talk about,” he sighed heavily, trying to collect the right words. “When you like someone, it’s hard to tell them, but even harder if you know that it could potentially ruin a friendship that you don’t want to lose. Stealing prop foods or not, that was just a childish way to deal with it, but I thought even if you didn’t know who I was, it would leave you curious and even without an identity I could occupy your thoughts. I thought it was better to remain friends than to ruin any connection we have had, but blame it on the alcohol or the fact that we spend so much time together recently, I just don’t want to hide it anymore,” he cleared his throat awkwardly, waiting for a reply from you, but you were just stunned.
Your eyes widened at the realisation, your lips parted as though you were a gaping fish. “You like me?” you asked as if his confession wasn’t enough, you needed reassurance.
“Yes, I do like you,” he admitted, playing with his short beard, awkwardly running his fingers through his already messy hair. He didn’t dare to look at you, his eyes wandered around the street, focusing on anything but you in that moment, fearing to see rejection in your eyes and so he couldn’t possibly see the slowly growing smile across your face.
“And what would you say if I said I have liked you too?” you asked with a cheeky grin on your face. Ben almost got a whiplash as he turned to you with a shocked expression, one that clearly showed your reply was anything, but expected.
“You have?” he asked with an uncertain tone, but with a tiny smile in the corner of lips and a hidden enthusiasm.
“Yes, for a while now actually,” you chuckled happily.
“You haven’t said anything,” he added questioningly.
“Well, you’re my friend and just like you, I didn’t dare to ruin what we had. And if you haven’t noticed, you’re a well-known actor, Ben, I couldn’t possibly say anything. I didn’t believe I had a chance beside all those beautiful actresses you are working with—”
“You are beautiful,” he cut in quickly.
“—so, I stayed quiet and decided to remain a friend of yours,” you chuckled at his compliment, still feeling as though you were in a dream, as if it wasn’t reality.
“I mean it. You’re stunning, you’re funny, you are such a hard-working person. It’s you that I like not them,” he added with a relieved smile.
“I have to admit, it’s hard to believe,” you chuckled awkwardly. “Do you maybe want to go up to my flat and talk there so we are not this exposed?” you asked quickly, not wanting to discuss your feelings in the middle of the dark street.
“Of course!” he replied and started leading you to your flat. You shook your head, feeling giddy in his presence, giving him a small peck on his cheek, earning a proud smile from him, one that was rather childish than manly, but if anything that made you even happier.
You were about a couple of streets away from your flat, but trying to contain the wide grin from appearing on your face seemed to be an even harder task than you wished to admit. Ben wasn’t blind though, he could see the smile you fought hard against and he couldn’t stop himself from mirroring your expression. He looked around, searching for paparazzi, but found none. Firmly holding onto your arm in his, he pulled you into a small ally, with a playful grin across his face. You squeaked in surprise as you felt the pulling force from Ben and seconds later the cold wall behind your back.
“Why are you trying to hide your smile?” he asked with a playful chuckle.
“I’m not, it’s just hard to believe,” you replied, still feeling uncertain about the situation.
“Maybe if you let me kiss you, that would make it easier for you to believe,” he leaned closer, running his tongue across his bottom lip. That simple movement left you breathless as you swallowed hard, and your gaze seemed to remain on his lips. But as much as you wished Ben to lean closer, he kept the distance. You wanted to nod, say yes, let out any kind of embarrassing noise of approval, but you found any kind of interaction impossible.
Instead, you grabbed his belt and pulled him closer, standing up on your tiptoes, capturing his lips with yours. For a moment Ben was caught off guard, he didn’t expect your reaction, but he didn’t need long to return the kiss just as hungrily as you did in the first place.
You have dreamt of kissing him, wrapping your arms around his neck, whilst his hands drew random circles on your back, but your dreams were nothing compared to reality. Ben’s hold on your waist was firm, but still gentle and his lips against yours felt as though they belonged to you. You couldn’t explain the weakness in your knees, the butterflies in your tummy or the complete emptiness in your mind. There was just Ben and you in that moment and you would have given anything for it to stay like that. But air was something of necessity and when you parted, Ben leaned his forehead against yours matching the rhythm of your heavy breathing.
“That, I think, made it more believable,” Ben spoke up first, making you giggle.
“A few more and it will,” you replied in the same playful manner. “On a side note though, before we go anywhere, you have to promise me that you stop eating my props,” you added, your tone scolding, but humorous.
“If—, I repeat if you kiss me like that every time I feel like stealing your props, then we can work out a deal,” he grinned proudly.
“That’s blackmail, mister,” you exclaimed, but your smile gave you away.
“And what a good one,” he smirked, mentally patting his own shoulder. “Is that a deal then?” he asked.
“Fine! But you better stay far away from my work,” you added in a mock seriousness, knowing even if he did try to steal again, you wouldn’t be able to stay mad at him.
“I think I can manage that,” he chuckled before he closed the gap between you, indulging in the moment a bit longer, knowing both of you have been eagerly waiting to be close to each other.
