The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Interactive Flat Panels
The Role of AI in Interactive Flat Panels: Transforming
Education in India
Interactive flat panels (IFPs) are modern digital tools that have become popular in schools across India. These panels are not just fancy screens; they are changing how teachers teach and students learn. A big reason for this change is Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI-powered features in interactive flat panels make education more engaging, personalized, and efficient.
1. Making Learning More Interactive
AI in interactive flat panels makes lessons more interactive. Teachers can use AI to create quizzes, games, and activities that engage students. For example, AI in interactive flat panels can instantly generate questions based on the taught topic. Students can answer these questions on the panel, and the AI will immediately check their answers. This instant feedback helps students learn better because they can quickly understand what they know and where they need to improve.
2. Personalized Learning for Every Student
Every student is unique, and they learn at their own pace. AI in interactive flat panels helps teachers understand each student's learning needs. The AI can track how a student performs in different subjects and suggest personalized learning materials. For example, if a student struggles with math, the AI can recommend extra exercises or videos to help them improve. This personalized approach ensures that every student is included and everyone gets the support they need.
3. Enhancing Classroom Management
AI in interactive flat panels helps teachers manage their classrooms better. For example, AI can take attendance automatically by recognizing students' faces. This saves time and allows teachers to focus more on teaching. AI can also monitor student behavior during class. If a student is not paying attention, the AI can alert the teacher, who can then engage the student more effectively.
4. Supporting Teachers with Lesson Planning
Creating lesson plans can be time-consuming for teachers. AI in interactive flat panels can help by suggesting lesson plans, activities, and resources based on the curriculum. For example, if a teacher plans to teach about the solar system, the AI can recommend videos, interactive simulations, and quizzes related to the topic. This saves teachers time and ensures that the lessons are rich and engaging for students.
5. Improving Assessment and Feedback
Assessment is a crucial part of education. AI-powered interactive flat panels make assessment easier and more effective. Teachers can create tests on the panel, and the AI can grade them instantly. The AI can also analyze the results to identify areas where students struggle the most. This information helps teachers provide targeted support to students. For example, if many students struggle with a particular concept in science, the teacher can spend more time explaining it or use different teaching methods to ensure everyone understands.
6. Bridging the Gap Between Urban and Rural Education
In India, there is often a gap between the quality of education in urban and rural areas. AI-powered interactive flat panels can help bridge this gap. These panels can be used in rural schools to provide high-quality education that is on par with urban schools. For example, AI in interactive flat panels can offer access to digital content and resources that might not be available in rural areas. Additionally, AI can provide real-time language translation, allowing students in different regions to learn in their local languages. This ensures that every student, regardless of their location, gets access to quality education.
7. Encouraging Collaborative Learning
AI in interactive flat panels encourages collaborative learning. Students can work together on projects, share their ideas on the panel, and receive feedback from their peers and teachers. AI can also facilitate group activities by assigning tasks based on each student's strengths. For example, in a group science project, the AI might assign the research part to a student who excels at it and the presentation part to another student who is good at speaking. This kind of collaboration prepares students for the real world, where teamwork is essential.
Conclusion
AI in interactive flat panels is transforming the educational experience in India. They make learning more interactive, personalized, and collaborative. They support teachers with lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment, making their jobs easier and more effective. Most importantly, they help ensure that every student, regardless of their location or learning pace, receives a quality education. As AI continues to evolve, we can expect even more innovative ways to enhance education and prepare students for the future.

Drive to survive. Leah Williamson x F1!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who is going to replace Lewis Hamilton? This question has taken the f1 media by storm for a whole season. Some believed it would be Andrea Kimi Antonelli, while others hoped for Max Verstappen, or Carlos sainz. However none of them expected you. A woman would join F1 in one  of the most decorated cars in recent years. A woman would take the seat of the legendary Lewis Hamilton.
The support was significant but the pushback was overwhelming. Many people applauded you for entering a male dominated field. They went on saying how much of a role model you were to young women, how you would change the f1 world forever, bring in new fans , and make f1 a more equal place in real life not just on paper. The other drivers welcomed you with open arms in their interaction with you or in  the way they talked about you most importantly lewis.
As a result of your new found fame you were asked to join events and panels talking about women's sport or women in sports. Throughout your pre-season you were fully booked from training to preseason testing to the media event.
The only time you ever thought about something other than how radical what you are doing is or what you were going to do next was when you saw a particularly stunning person.
A tall blonde woman with a great mind you took a glimpse through when she answered the questions she was asked in the BBC panel you were on. She was educated, beautiful, well mannered, beautiful, very good with her words, and very very beautiful.
You answered your questions to the best of your ability, took some pictures and headed towards the green room. When you came in you looked at the table and saw snacks and one lone mini chocolate bar. As you extended your hand to grab, you were met by another one going for it too. You extracted your hand quickly and looked at the eventual winner of the mini chocolate bar. It was her, the blond beauty that goes by Leah Williamson.
“ Uhmm sorry. Here, take it.” Said the smiling young woman.
“ No it's fine, you go ahead, I shouldn't anyway. It's pre-season.” You responded.
“ We can split it then. I am sure half of a mini bar isn't going to hurt.” She added.
You two then split the bar. “ I am Leah Williamson.” She said as she extended her hand. You told her your name and shook her hand.
“ You were very good there. Very good answers.” You complimented Leah.
“ You too.” She said shyly.
“ Do you want to get out of here?” You ask.
“ Does that line work on everyone you meet?”
You laugh nervously. “ No. I don't use it much. Uhmm, I am hungry and I want a buddy to go get food with.”
“ I am sorry, I have to go to another press conference. But maybe someday soon.”
You hand her your phone so that she can save her number in. When you look at the name she saved her number as “ arsenal's number 6.” Which gave you a glimpse of her sense of humor.
Your season started a short while after you two started to date. You clicked instantly and one might say it was love at first sight since it only took 6 dates over 2 weeks for you to reveal that you two loved each other.
You both  understood that your careers were busy, her with arsenal's and the lionesses and you with traveling around the world and driving your fast car.
The start of your season was expectedly slow. You were decent throughout the qualifiers.  You started at p6 in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Australia, all the way through china. You were a little overwhelmed by all the media attention and scrutiny. But by round 8 you scored your first p4 which you interchanged by p5.
You were very excited for your home race on Silverstone. You were excited by the presence of your friends and family, and most importantly your girlfriend. While other lionesses were invited in my McLaren you insisted on Leah being in the Mercedes garage with you.
Knowing your girlfriend was going to watch you for the first time, knowing she was there for you and only you, gave you more motivation than you ever hoped for. You got in your car for qualifying ready to impress. As soon as you left the garage, you pushed the car to the limit which gave you your first ever pole position in F1. You were ecstatic and the team was happy for you too.
Race day was crazy, you couldn't see your girlfriend because you had to prepare yourself for what probably was going to be a rainy race.
The track was dry and empty in front of you. You were in pole, you just had to keep your position. As soon as the light turned green you pushed as fast as you could. Your team informed you of a few crashes behind you and an angry Max Verstappen in a red bull. The red bull team expressed their concerns about foul play in my result in qualifiers which led max to have an alleged grudge. You didn't think much of it, you just focused on staying in p1.
“ Careful Max is being reckless trying to overtake you “ said one of your guys on the radio. You couldn't let fear creep in after all your girlfriend was watching. She to whom you promised the win.
You went on denying him every opportunity to overtake and in time the race was just about you and Max going head to head with all the others being a full lap behind. You kept thinking of Leah and the sex you two would have after the win and how proud she would be of you. That was what gave you the edge over him .
You two changed tires at the same time. While Mercedes was faster, Red Bull was fast too. You speeded out of the box, felt a shock wave throughout the entire car. You didn't register what happened quickly. Your brain went silent then you said some words to yourself.
“ Silverstone, Leah, pole, win, box, max.” You thought. The car was getting hot, and you were getting light headed. You heard a voice through your ear but you couldn't register what they said.
A few seconds passed before you saw an ambulance, you heard sirens and saw white foamy gas. The kind of gas they used for fires.
“ Fires, I crashed, the car is on fire.” You thought again and quickly tried to get out of the car.
You wanted to get up but couldn't. You were dizzy. You were going to die.

Jason and Bruce's first encounter in Batman #408 is blatantly mischaracterized so often that I have to do a double take every time I see anyone talking about it. I would like to say before I get into this that there's nothing wrong with disregarding canon, but you gotta know what you're disregarding or you just completely ignore the important character dynamics that are set up.
First of all, Bruce didn't see Jason stealing his tires and say "oh yeah, I'm adopting this kid." Yes, he did think it was funny and end up getting invested in Jason's life, but he had no intention to adopt or even interact with Jason again. He sends Jason to Ma Gunn's school, hoping that Jason can get an actual education and have a successful life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
People like to claim that Bruce was just lonely after Dick left and so he replaced him with the first kid he saw, and if you assume that Bruce just grabbed Jason off the streets after their first meeting, that seems pretty damning. but he DIDNT. he didn't initially want to make Jason Robin, he just wanted Jason to have a good life and get out of Crime Alley. (don't get me wrong, I still think it's fucked up that he made Jason Robin and failed to communicate with him about what that really meant and made him feel like he had to live up to Dick perfectly, but if we're gonna critiquing Bruce, we're gonna do it accurately.) He didn't even plan on interacting with Jason again in any meaningful way until he finds out that Jason isn't going to Ma Gunn's, and Jason explains that it's not a real school.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And after that he STILL doesn't make any decisions. It's not until after Jason tries to stop the heist at the museum completely separately from Batman that Bruce even takes in Jason himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yeah, I really don't like the way he did this, but the narrative that Bruce just scooped Jason up off the streets because he wanted a new Robin is just straight up inaccurate. Yeah, I can totally admit that he probably felt at least a little lonely with Dick's absence and that affected his decision, but I think more importantly he saw himself in Jason and made his decision based on that.
Tumblr media
The same way he recognized Dick's trauma with witnessing his parents' deaths, he recognized Jason's here. Do I think letting these kids fight crime is the best way to handle this trauma? of course not! but as explained earlier, he didn't originally intend to make Jason robin. And even more than that, these are comics, they don't have to be good choices that would be okay in the real world!
Okay anyway I forgot what my other points were and I just spent an hour writing this out and finding the panels, so uh here. Sorry I went on a little bit of a rant here.

Honestly I'm half tempted to include a throw away line in my fic about how electing a school teacher with zero background in politics outside of interacting with one student's parent turned out to be a terrible idea
Yeah no its.
Even if we go with my AUs or even what the writers /want/ us to think where Bustier is a genuinely 100% good teacher trying her best.
Bustier is a teacher. She has no experience with politics. She likely has the base understanding of most adults even mildly concerned with their community, possibly a touch more being in the education system and dealing with some of the bullshit policies.
But that is far from enough to jump to being mayor. Even if she has grand plans for good policies, being able to implement them is a /process/. She's going to have to get approval from so many other people in various public offices, some of which will fight her. Even if we apply cartoon 'mayor has ultimate power' so that Chloé Andre was the only one making these awful policies happen and a new Good mayor would fix it: it takes /time/ to do so.
She's going to have to deal with a lot more than just ordering the installation of solar panels. There's a lot of duties a mayor has. She's going to need to do all of those. And deal with various politicians and rich business people who are just as if not more corrupt than the mayor.
Now bring it back to Canon.
Canon where she's elected while pregnant and about to pop and will have to take her first few weeks-months of term off for maternity leave and even still be dealing with a newborn, assuming Giselle isn't a housewife that can watch the baby 24/7. Like if she is good for them but Bustier is still going to be running ragged trying to do her job and balance a baby.
Canon, where the reason they need a new mayor is because she was down to team up with the local supervillain terrorist to hypnotize the city and storm city hall to drive him out, purely because she didn't like his child. (And while I can go with the 'oh her being Akumatized doesn't count', she sees absolutely zero problem with what she did as an Akuma after-the-fact. So even if the 'she was an AKuma' thing checks out, her approving of those actions is a yikes.)
Canon, where she had Chloé and Sabrina openly cheating on homework, classwork, and tests for two years without her noticing despite them literally sitting in the front row and everyone else knowing about it because they openly say what they're doing. But sure, she'll be able to handle corrupt politicians and businessmen and sneaky loophole laws.

Oh oh oh oh! That’s so good! I love your thoughts on the whole Dick and Bruce vs. Kory and Myand'r. There’s also Kory and Kom vs. Dick and Jason. I saw someone else mention that Kory was like a wandering star and how it’s kind of never touched on how much of an important part Dick played in her life outside of just the romantic aspect people think of. Like thinking of how for Kory the titans was kind of like a family but outside of that most of the characters did have other families or were part of other titles etc. like Dick is still part of the Batfamily and Donna has the Wonderfam and Roy with the Arrowfam and some of them have children and etc. like even where do you go once that team is disbanded? When Dick for everything he said can still has a place to go back to where you can’t.
Idk this is why I have a tiff with people who write Kory and don’t really think about like what it might feel like to be Kory. Like she’s very much an immigrant and a lot of those feelings apply. So much of her education of earth was from friends but also Dick. Like one can’t downplay the big part he had. Not to say they can’t be friends after have been lovers but I feel like writers really downplay like a lot to the point where you feel like these characters are mere acquaintance and not like two people who were part of each others lives for a big part of their growing up.
Like I was reading marriage advice on this site and one of the things it was saying was that marriage is seeing the ugly. In that it’s not a pretty picture where you are happy all the time. Marriage you see the sickness and you see the person when they aren’t on their best, but in that there is so much love. And it just made me think how Dick and Kory never made it to get married but they experienced all the ugly and still choose to love each other and really the grew up along side each other.
I’m sorry this wasn’t meant to be a long response or anything but I got way to excited and started rambling. I just think Kory would be very lonely.
Happy Holidays!
Omg yeah! I was literally thinking about this the other day because I was reading the issue where Kory mentioned that the Titans were her family, and I thought it was so sad that if the Titans are in a period of disbandment or are busy with their personal lives, she doesn't get to be with her earth family.
And so true about Dick being important to her life and integration to earth. I think it's sad that we don't say that Kory is one of Dick's best friends and vice versa, and that most people just view them from that romantic standpoint. I mean, am I bugging or wasn't there a panel in TNTT era where Kory said Dick was her best friend? Gah, that's gonna eat at me. If someone remembers that panel then please let me know where it's from.
No yeah, I agree, I definitely think Kory would get lonely or would mourn those days when the Titans were interacting as a family a lot more. Of course, the Titans are living in the Tower again at the moment, and they are interacting more lately, so it's not so much a problem as of right now.

In Grant's earlier appearances, he's written with a tic of using "wuhl" in place of "well" as an interjection. This would seem to imply some sort of accent, and I was curious what the implication was, because by all accounts, he shouldn't have a strong regional accent, if any. When his solo begins, he has moved eight times in the last four years, and probably more times before that. That's not long enough to pick up anything consistent.
Bear with me, I'm going somewhere with this.
"Wuhl" is a pronunciation that (from what I understand) in the US is associated with the rural Midwest or the South. Grant has just moved to Marietta, Georgia (a suburb of Atlanta) when his solo begins, and before then, the Emersons lived in Dayton, Ohio. Which other states they've lived in is never mentioned.
So if he has any accent at all, it would most likely be from a place he lived in when he was still quite young. Which would rule out Dayton and Marietta. Not unlikely he might try to pick up on speech mannerisms in each new school to try to fit in, but the thing is...he doesn't use "wuhl" with Georgians. He doesn't always use it consistently; "well" appears in his vocabulary too.
In the instances of "wuhl" that I found, he is speaking to different people (his foster uncle Neal Emerson, someone connected with the lab that experimented on him, Ray Terrill, Kyle Rayner, and Roy Harper), who hail from a variety of locations. So what's the common thread?
These are all moments of vulnerability.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Damage #9, 12, 14, and 16 / New Titans Annual #11)
In these panels, he is
Trying to get answers about his parentage from his foster uncle, who also happens to be a supervillain, and bringing up a potentially awkward theory of his that his uncle might be his real father.
Attempting to threaten a powerful woman who could give him answers about his past.
Pleading with a rather ticked-off Ray, whom he has met only once before, for his help with a dangerous venture.
About to admit to Kyle that he actually wants more danger on their mission in space because he's more comfortable in a war zone where "nobody's scared of me [...] they know a great weapon when they see one. And I don't have to worry all the time about hurting someone."
Trying to explain to his critical team leader why he was practicing using his powers (which inevitably got out of hand)--things got better later between him and Roy, but this harshness is typical of how Roy initially treated him.
With the possible exception of the panel from #12 (he's trying to bluster his way into getting information, so it's likely the seeming confidence is an act), he's feeling awkward about something in all of these cases. Note the body language--typically self-protective and/or compliant. And this is when "wuhl" slips out.
My guess is that it's a regionalism that he picked up when young (though there's a possibility it could be a Georgian thing he acquired more recently) and was educated out of using in general. He's usually quite strategic in how he interacts ("So if you cave, go all the way. Put on your best cheeser and be ready to beg!"), but reverting to sounding like a bit of a hick might be a sign of losing control over how he's coming across because of heightened anxiety.
"Wuhl" disappears from his speech entirely as of Titans 1999, in which he's (mostly) in a more stable environment, and continues to be absent through his time with the JSA as a young adult, when his speech gets a lot more profane rather than diffident and polite.
(Thank you to @brown-little-robin for her expertise on accents I'm not familiar with!)

Mastering the Art of AV Installation: A Comprehensive Guide
In today’s digitally driven world, audio-visual (AV) installations have become essential for various sectors, including corporate offices, educational institutions, and entertainment venues. Whether it’s for a high-end conference room, a dynamic classroom, or a home theater, a successful AV installation can transform any space into a highly interactive and engaging environment. This comprehensive guide will walk you through the key aspects of mastering AV installation, ensuring you achieve top-notch results every time.
Understanding the Basics of AV Installation
Before diving into the complexities, it's crucial to grasp the basics of AV installation. AV installation refers to the setup and integration of audio-visual systems, including projectors, screens, speakers, microphones, and other related equipment. The goal is to create an environment where audio and video components work seamlessly together to deliver a high-quality experience.
Key Components of AV Systems
Display Systems: These include projectors, LED walls, and large-screen displays. The choice depends on the room size, lighting conditions, and the purpose of the AV setup.
Audio Systems: This involves speakers, amplifiers, and microphones. Proper placement and configuration are vital to ensure clear and balanced sound throughout the space.

A successful AV installation begins with meticulous planning. Here’s a step-by-step approach:
Assess the Space: Understand the dimensions, acoustics, and lighting of the installation area. This helps in selecting the right equipment and planning the layout.
Define Objectives: Clearly outline what you want to achieve with the AV installation. Are you aiming for a cinematic experience, a professional conference setup, or an interactive classroom?
Budgeting: Determine your budget early on. High-quality AV equipment can be expensive, but it’s a worthwhile investment for the performance and durability it offers.
Technical Considerations: Factor in the technical requirements, such as power supply, ventilation for heat-generating equipment, and network infrastructure.
Installation Process
Step-by-Step Guide
Pre-Installation Checks: Ensure all components are present and in working order. Test the equipment beforehand to avoid any last-minute issues.
Mounting and Placement: Install display systems at optimal viewing angles and heights. Place speakers strategically for even sound distribution.
Cabling and Connectivity: Run cables neatly and securely, avoiding any potential tripping hazards or interference issues. Test all connections to ensure seamless integration.
Programming and Calibration: Set up control systems to simplify operation. Calibrate audio and video settings for the best possible quality.
Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct thorough testing of the entire setup. Identify and resolve any issues to ensure everything functions perfectly.
Common Challenges and Solutions
Even with meticulous planning, AV installations can present challenges. Here are some common issues and their solutions:
Interference and Signal Loss: Use high-quality cables and connectors to minimize interference. Consider signal boosters for long cable runs.
Audio Feedback: Properly configure microphones and speakers to avoid feedback loops. Use acoustic treatments to enhance sound quality.
Connectivity Issues: Ensure all devices are compatible and up-to-date. Regularly update firmware and software to maintain smooth operation.
Conclusion:
Mastering AV installation requires a blend of technical expertise, precise planning, and a keen eye for detail. What is community? What does it mean to co-create with community?
Tumblr media
What is community?
In general, community is a group of people who are together based on their interests, beliefs and so on. They share common interests and aspirations, and can provide a sense of belonging, identity and individual value.
A community is a social unit (a group of living things) with commonality such as place, norms, culture, religion, values, customs, or identity. Communities may share a sense of place situated in a given geographical area (e.g. a country, village, town, or neighbourhood) or in virtual space through communication platforms. Durable good relations that extend beyond immediate genealogical ties also define a sense of community, important to their identity, practice, and roles in social institutions such as family, home, work, government, TV network, society, or humanity at large. Although communities are usually small relative to personal social ties, "community" may also refer to large group affiliations such as national communities, international communities, and virtual communities.Human communities may have intent, belief, resources, preferences, needs, and risks in common, affecting the identity of the participants and their degree of cohesiveness.
People who love enjoy the beach time can be a community; people who love dogs and cats can be a community, and for me, We came to the United States from China to study. we are far from our home, so for us, we have the same feeling inside our heart, we become a community. We met and discussed Chinese news and hot topics, and tried different foods from different places.
Also in museum field, people who love visit the museum can be a community. They go to different kinds of museums, learn the story behind each museum, share thoughts and opinions, it's a pleasure for them.
Tumblr media
What does it mean to co-create with community?
When a community comes into a museum, they're different people, they have the same passion for the museum, but they all think differently. So for a community, they can offer different ideas to the museum. Maybe it leads to the co-create with community.
Co-creation is the practice of involving people in the making of anything a museum can produce: object interpretation, displays and exhibitions, educational resources, artworks, websites, tours, events, festivals – you name it, it can be co-created. The people involved might be individuals, or they might belong to a community group or to another organisation, but critically they are not part of the museum’s staff or governing structure. There are differences of opinion over who should initiate a co-created project. Some people believe for co-creation to be significant and genuinely meaningful, that it is the participants who should define the project’s goals, and not the museum. This guide takes a more pragmatic approach, and defines co- creation as any participative work undertaken with the community for the mutual benefit of all involved. Co-creation is sometimes referred to as co- curation, when talking specifically about exhibitions or programmes. For the purposes of this guide, the terms are used interchangeably.
Here is a "Co-creating Community Projects" about the museum.
Tumblr media
As Cassie Chinn, Deputy Executive Director at the Wing Luke Asian Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience, put it in a blog post for the Pew Center for Art & Heritage said: “Our desire is to know communities intimately. What breaks their hearts breaks ours, what fuels their passion fuels ours…It’s as if time spent in our exhibitions is time spent with someone else, person to person. And well, perhaps through the text panels, photographs, artifacts, documents, and multimedia installations—all of the stuff of exhibitions—in the end, that might be the best way to describe it: getting to know someone, meeting together, and creating something new.”

As a date on the calendar, it was a quaint holdover from the pre-Reform, back when people sold you stuff you didn’t need just because you had money, and they could convince you to spend it. It was harmless cultural theater, like those recreations of historic villages with actors churning butter and feigning shock at your zippers.
My best friend Adrian and I ventured into the old commercial sector this year for some Black Friday window shopping. Our dads tried to talk us out of it, saying it was rude to waste a shopkeeper’s time if we had no intention of buying anything. Typical dadNet programming, trying to guilt us into staying home. We went anyway and had a great time trying on boots and coloring in mood panels with hand gestures while our dads remained docked at home. We had just left a home appliances warehouse and were about to break for lunch when I saw him standing in the window.
“Dude. Stop for a sec,” I said.
“Come on, Mike,” Adrian whined. “My feet hurt. I want to get some chowder before they’re all sold out.”
I refused to budge and stared into the shop window at a display of old-style dads. They had to be 5th Generation, maybe even 4th. “Look at these guys,” I said. “They sure don’t make them like this anymore.”
People always told me I was born in the wrong decade. My tastes had always been a bit old fashioned. I still bought boots with laces, I preferred to look at the menu instead of letting the restaurant’s AI extrapolate my preferences, and I always had an affinity for dads that looked like dads.
“They give me the creeps,” Adrian shuddered. “I like the way they build them now better.”
I respectfully disagreed. About a decade before we were born, dadNet stopped designing dads with visual authenticity in mind. Gone were the simulated crows’ feet, overweight builds, and gently paternalistic cognitive subroutines. The generation of dads I grew up with were boxy, metallic, and obsessed with quoting rules from the Commonwealth Community Standards. Sure, they were decent servants and interacted well with local government on our behalf, but that was kind of the point. Somewhere along the way, the definition of dad changed to mean something else.
“Let’s go check them out,” I said, already walking into the store. Adrian protested, but when he realized I wasn’t to be deterred, he followed me in.
The store, TechTime, was full of pre- and early-Reform era electronics and positronics. It was a veritable museum of the last century of popular history. I pretended to browse around, trying not to appear too keen on anything in particular. But my eyes never left the dads in the window.
“Hey, Mike!” Adrian laughed and waved a small, rectangular piece of metal and glass in the air. “They call this stupid thing a smartphone. What the hell is a phone?”
I nodded and smiled, just enough to register a socially acceptable level of interest, then meandered back toward the window display. Three dads stood motionless and inert amidst an idealized winter scene, staring blankly out into the street. The one on the left held a shovel and the one on the right was putting on a pair of mittens. I eyed the one in the middle, which wore an old-fashioned pair of denim jeans and a flannel shirt. He stood upright with balled up fists resting on his hips. His stance reminded me of old superhero holo-comics, but his appearance was more akin to an old educational film.
“Care to take him for a spin?”
I turned to face the salesman who had sneaked up behind me. “I don’t know,” I said, wondering whether the admonishment I got from my robot dad back at home was true. “I’ve got a dad back home that works fine. I just like the way they used to build them.”
The salesman nodded and pulled a control device from his pocket. “They are durable. Handsome, too.” He held the control out and I took it. “Everything’s on sale for Black Friday. Go ahead and give him a try.”
I looked at the small metal sphere in my palm as the salesman left to wait on someone else. I barely heard his footsteps fade into the distance. I pressed the blue button on the top of the sphere and pointed it at the plaid dad in the display.
“Processing.”
He stood at attention for several seconds and then turned around. Noticing the control device in my hand, he looked at me and smiled. “Are you my Son?”
I laughed. “No, I’m not. My name’s Mike. I’m just trying you out.”
The dad stepped down from the window display and approached me. He was taller than he looked in the window. His beard and eyebrows were single pieces of flexible plastic attached to his face. When he smiled at me, they distorted slightly. He held out his right hand.
“Nice to meet you, Mike. I am 717.”
I shook his hand, surprised at the tight grip. My dad back home was such a milquetoast, but 717 was exactly the kind of dad I always wanted. Masculine, affable, and handsome.
“Nice to meet you, too,” I said. “You know you’re for sale in a discount shop, right?”
717 looked around, appraising the situation. “I can see that it has been some time since I was last activated, Mike. But my programming is just as relevant today. You appear to have reached age 30. Do you have a dad?”
He placed his hand on my shoulder, and his uncanny plastic features contorted into a simulation of concern. I thought about the glorified microwave waiting for me in its docking station back home. That wasn’t a dad. This was a dad.
“No,” I lied. “I don’t.”

Critical-Thinking Techniques for Professionals in Emergency Medicine
People with urgent or life-threatening medical needs are treated by emergency medicine, a branch of medicine. A diverse patient population, a fast-paced work environment, and critical thinking skills are all highlighted. Emergency room doctors receive extensive training to treat a wide range of illnesses and wounds from all walks of life. They provide immediate care for patients and are frequently asked to refer cases to trauma surgeons when necessary.
To make wise clinical decisions, emergency medicine professionals must cultivate critical thinking abilities. This entails identifying ambiguity and bias, testing prior hypotheses, and evaluating data.
Critical thinking is an important skill for your career and the health of your patients, whether you're a doctor or a nurse. It assists you in coming to wise clinical decisions that are best for your patient and the desired results.
In emergency medicine, nurses frequently decide crucial matters pertaining to patient care. These choices can be anything from prescribing the right course of treatment for a client to diagnosing a disease.
Critical thinking is essential in emergency medicine to enhance patient outcomes and foster interprofessional communication. This way of thinking is also crucial for integrating fresh information into clinical practice.
A fast-paced work environment that requires constant movement and mental activity throughout the day is what emergency physicians must deal with. Emergency physicians must be able to communicate clearly with their coworkers and multidisciplinary teams in addition to giving patients life-saving care.
It can be hard to keep up with patients' needs and takes a lot of patience. However, if you put in the necessary effort and have the necessary skills, working in a fast-paced environment can be exciting and rewarding.
A direct observation study of 31 emergency department doctors was carried out to assess how they split their time between drug-related and unrelated tasks. The findings revealed that 17.8% (95% CI 16.8%, 19.3%) of physicians' time was spent on tasks involving drugs.
The difficulties that face medicine as a whole are reflected in the ED environment. Increased diversity is required in the medical field, especially among emergency physicians. Studies have shown that compared to their peers, women and students of color apply to emergency medicine residency programs at lower rates. However, the literature does not provide adequate documentation of the causes of this.
Working flexibly is a crucial skill for emergency physicians, especially in a profession where patients frequently show up unannounced or in an unexpected condition. EDs can respond quickly to emergencies, incidents involving multiple casualties, or critically ill patients with a range of needs thanks to their flexibility.
Additionally, EM doctors have excellent career portability because they are not bound to a particular patient panel or practice. They have easy access to medical facilities and EM clinics all over the world.
Cultural competence may be more important when providing quality care to a patient population that is becoming more diverse. Health care providers' interactions with these patients may be impacted by linguistic barriers, socioeconomic factors, religious beliefs, and cultural norms.
Numerous emergency medicine (EM) training programs encourage diversity and cultural sensitivity. These initiatives may include distributing educational materials on implicit bias and disparities in LGBTQ+ healthcare.
During rotations, residents are paired with faculty mentors to expose them to various cultures and ethnicities. Along with these activities, they take part in splinting, social medicine projects, and wilderness medical expeditions.
However, emergency medicine might not be the best choice for you if your lifestyle is dictated by frantic environments or a fast pace. Additionally, this may not be the best specialty for you if you are worried about how your shifts will affect your general wellbeing and family life.
In order to investigate the nature of workforce flexibility in a group of emergency physicians, nurse practitioners (NPs), and registered nurses, this study adopted a division of labor methodology (RNs). In order to determine the degree of multiskilling and role overlap, it measured task distribution. It also looked at the organizational factors and behavioral patterns that promote flexibility.
